#2 Many opinionated journalists. One says with spin one thing and the other does her or his spin thing. So do you believe Ukrainians or Russian reports. So small units of Ukrainians traveled up rural routes to provide a flash media event. Russian support groups meanwhile have arrived and are shelling and providing air strikes. Loss of life by Ukrainians again as with Kherson. Really at this point a slow grind continues. Supplies abundant for Russians. Drones, missiles, electronics and so on. So I might add the Iranian drones pose a new threat as these drones are soon to be available to strike with missiles.

#3 https://liveuamap.com/ geolocates everything and only updates the map when confirmed. Looks like your theory of just a flash media event is wrong.

And Iranian drones are low tech and pretty much garbage. Not even as good as the cobbled together ones Russia has.

#4 Multiple photos and vids of Ukr raising flags, being welcomed by civilians in Balakliya, if you care to look about. Apparently some reporting of Ukr presence south of Cupyansk on Russian Telegram channels, but no confirming geolocated reports. (Just how many spellings are there for Ukrainian towns? It's as bad as Arabic transliteration...)

#5 (Just how many spellings are there for Ukrainian towns? It's as bad as Arabic transliteration...)

Russians and Ukrainians change town names all the time.

Until a few years ago Bakhmut was known as Artemovsk. Sometimes Russian use Bakhmut, sometimes they use Artemovsk. Russian use Slavyansk, but Ukrainians spell it Sloviansk. And that spelling will change based on its use in a sentance.

Then there are problems with Russian syntax. A town's name will change based on its use in a sentence, that is, if the machine translator catches it. It doesn't always catch it.
