#2 Riddle: If six planes are launched to intercept, would only one plane go supersonic and leave the pack behind?

Or would all planes go supersonic to intercept?

Rantburg, what is the Air Force / NORAD Protocol in these matters?

I ask because only One Sonic Boom was heard / registered. And I dont see how all the planes would synchronize their Sonic Booms. The math does not add up for me.
