#2 Compared to Joe Biden, compared to any Democrat these days, Nixon was a Boy Scout.

#3 This was a war between the Democrat media apparatus (post) and Nixon. This showed the power the media being used as a useful tool. The resulting Pulitzer prize was a gift.

Richard Nixon was an isolated,
much maligned political figure,
hated by the left and deeply
flawed by understandable paranoia.
Never mentioned is his enormous
political popularity, landslide
victories, and successful ending
of the Viet Nam War.

The Watergate cover-up, which he
did own, was to protect one of
his few, dear personal friends
and political allies, Attorney General
John Mitchel. He was not the
author of the break-ins, but he
was determined to protect Mitchell
at all costs, and White House
John Dean owns much of the advice
that led to the disaster as a way
to hide his own deep culpability.
The irony of Nixon's disgrace is
that much of the criminality was
unknown to him, it was John Dean
who was behind the Watergate
Break-in to protect his ex-hooker
wife. They were trying to find
the phone book of high-end
democrat donors and their
preferences in the little anteroom
off the DNC Directors's secretary
office.Read St. Martin’s Press, in 1991,
of the book Silent Coup: The
Removal of a President, by Len
Colodny and Robert Gettlin. , and
the long but fascinating article
by James Rosen in Real Clear
Politics. The best of the Rosen
article is in the last quarter
of this lengthy but fascinating story.
