#1 Russian propagandists leaked the name of the temporary replacement of Sergei Surovikin to the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation. It turned out to be Surovikin's first deputy, Lieutenant General Viktor Afzalov.

The Russian propaganda publication RIA-Novosti writes that Afzalov was directly involved in planning and organizing the attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022. It was he who was responsible for planning air missile strikes against Ukrainian civilian and energy infrastructure facilities.

Afzalov reportedly commanded the 11th Air Force Army and air defense.
