Partly. They allowed the glorious interdiction of supply lines in Crimea and southern Ukraine and now the Russians are critically short on ammo, food, reinforcements, etc. This is allowing Ukraine to push forward with old Soviet and Western stuff.

With Novarossia (conqueered by Russians from Tatars in 18th century and joined to "Ukraine" by commies) i.e., Donbass & and Black & Asov sea shores becoming part of Russian Federation.
Ukraine won't joint EU (which will ceases to exist) or NATO. In fact, they'll return to being parasites on Russia they've been for 300 years.

Despite the fact most Black Sea and Mediterranean fleet was built in Ukrainian ports, a shit ton of tanks built there for the Soviets and continued to build parts for Russia after the breakup and now Russian is having a hard time getting parts because they are at war with their supplier...

Soviet central planning with Soviet money but built by Ukrainian engineers and labor. Yes the Ukrainian economy took a hit after the breakup. Because it was modeled after the old Soviet corrupt system. Once the Ukrainians pulled their heads out of their asses, the economy that embraced the western way made huge profits.

And to your point about Russians living there, it is only because Stalin forced Ukrainians out and Russians in. Just like what Putie-pie is doing today.

Yeah, and only Russia believes it because it is a Russian lie. Kiev was the "Rome of the East" hundreds of years before Moscow grew more than a few dirty hovels (not much changed from the rest of modern Russia actually).
