however, I don't understand the Ukraine math at the beginning of the perspective - my calculations are that the intercept rate is more like 65% than the 80% that Ukraine claims (although if they
count the crashes as shoot downs that may account of the difference)

And the weather forecast calls for lots of winter.

I know the news cycle must be fed and the talking heads need something to talk about, but IMAO, way too much is made of the intercept rate. The important metric is how many get through.
Example: Bad Guy launches two, you shoot down one. 50% intercept rate. Not bad. But the one that gets thru blows everything to hell and gone.

For round two, Bad Guy launches 100. You shoot down 99. Woo woo, that's 99 percent! But the one that gets thru blows everything to hell and gone. Nice intercept percentage, though.
