Remember, he run on platform of making peace. After he won (IMO, mainly because he was plying Ukrainian president in TV serial for 3 years) Ukra Nationalists started treatening him. He immediately switched. To summarise: he probably has influence as the rep of foreign sponsors (EU/UK/and guess who).
