#1 Ghannouchi has been directly involved in Islamist qua radical movements since the Nineteen Eighties. He worked with Hasan al-Turabi in the creation of an Arab conference of radicals first held in Khartoum in 1991. That he would finally spend jail time after all these years is ironic.
