#1 Whistling past the graveyard. That Gedaref in the Arab heartland has been attacked indicates just more trouble for the Government. Eventually, the Arab and Islamist government may be left with El Obeid, Port Sudan and provinces to the north of Khartoum. As long as the RSF can use its Darfur gold mine to pay for weapons from the United Arab Emirates it will survive. Thus, the old Sudan is dying on the vine. What will emerge is still anyone's guess.
