Good samaritans stop kidnapping in progress of mother and two small children in Florida
[FoxNews] A mother as well as her two-year-old and six-month-old children were rescued by good samaritans outside the DMV in Jacksonville, Florida on March 12.
Arrested: Yanni Human, 26.
WFLA adds:
A newly released video shows more than a dozen bystanders stepping in to stop a man from driving off with a mother and her two children in Florida.

An arrest affidavit revealed that a man and woman were on their way to a Jacksonville DMV on March 12 when he had struck her in the face while driving. Once at the DMV, the man "became even more frustrated" because they were late to their appointment.

The woman got out of an SUV and grabbed one of her kids. As she went to unbuckle the second child, the man, identified as 26-year-old Yanni Human, drove off as she desperately tried to pull the other child out. Human drove off against the mother’s will, dragging her and one of the kids through the parking lot, as she hung onto the back of the seat.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the children involved were a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old.

The video captured the moment the Human began to drive off, as more than a dozen good Samaritans rushed toward the vehicle to help the victims. Bystanders were able to get the second child out of the vehicle, bringing the mother and her children to safety before Human fled, the affidavit said.

"Good Samaritans stepped in during a dangerous situation, potentially saving a mother and two children from serious injury or worse," the sheriff’s office wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Deputies later tracked down Human outside of a shopping center, where they pinned him to the ground and arrested him.

"What did I do?" Human repeatedly asked the deputies.

After taking the suspect into custody, deputies located two fully loaded magazines containing 45 caliber live rounds in the center console, along with loose marijuana in the passenger seat.

Human is facing several charges, including child abuse, false imprisonment, battery, possession of marijuana, and resisting an officer without violence.

The affidavit revealed that the woman had been experiencing domestic violence worsening over the past six months, telling officials she has video evidence of Human threatening to kill her.

"This situation could have ended in tragedy," the sheriff’s office said. "Your JSO is grateful for the quick action and bravery of the Good Samaritans who stepped up and helped bring the suspect to justice."
