Qatar boots Egypt MB heads

Ay-Peee
A top leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood group says he and other senior members are departing Qatar, where they had sought refuge following the ouster of Egypt's Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and the crackdown on his supporters.
Sisi isn't going anywhere, and these mooks have outlived their usefulness.
They can join Cindy Sheehan, who has a similar problem...
Amr Darrag says in a statement posted on his Facebook page Saturday that a number of the group's leaders are leaving Qatar following a request to do so by the Gulf monarchy. "We wanted to avoid embarrassing Qatar," he says.
or getting imprisoned
Qatar was a close ally of Morsi, and relations between Cairo and Doha have been strained since his ouster, with Egypt accusing Qatar of backing the Brotherhood.
why, yes, they did

#3  AFP adds:

Egypt designated the Brotherhood a "terrorist organisation" after the military ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

Since then, the group's exiled leaders set up headquarters in several countries including Turkey, where the leadership in Doha may now relocate to.

With the leadership in Qatar likely to relocate to Turkey, where other Brotherhood figures are already based, Istanbul is poised to host the regional headquarters for the 86-year-old movement.

Other leaders are based in Britain, which has conducted an inquiry into the Brotherhood's alleged links to militants.

Grand Mufti back in Tripoli
[Libya Herald] The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani is back in Libya after a prolonged absence of almost four months, most of it in London.

He took part today in a demonstration in Tripoli's Martyrs Square in support of Libya Dawn. Addressing the protestors, he denounced Operation Dignity in Benghazi and the House of Representatives.

The House has summoned him to Tobruk for questioning but he has refused to go. Several members have called for him to be dismissed but it is thought that the HoR feels that it is not yet the right time to take such a step. The Prime Minister, Abdullah Al-Thinni, has condemned his issuing of fatwas, saying he was politically biased.

The Grand Mufti hurriedly left London late last month for Qatar after it was reported that the British authorities were planning to arrest him for instigating violence and murder in Libya through his televised support for Libya Dawn and his calls for Operation Dignity and Zintani forces to be destroyed.

Although condemned by many in Libya, Ghariani is still well regarded by a significant constituency in the west of the country, especially those involved in Libya Dawn.

ISIS Plans To Invade United States Through Mexico, But Drug Cartels Could Fight Back
[Inquisitr] ISIS militants have reportedly been talking about invading the United States through the border with Mexico, a United States official warned this week.
ISIS and MB assets in D.C. must continue to hold the capital at all costs. A Dearborn, MI link-up appears do-able.
There could be major problems if ISIS planned to invade the United States through Mexico. U.S. officials say that the Mexican drug cartels controlling the region are defensive of their turf, especially regarding threats that could bring the United States government and its firepower to their lucrative drug-smuggling territory.
"Mexican drug cartels....defensive of their turf." Who knew? Also well armed by gun runners who must remain nameless. Hopefully, the Cartels will give us a heads up if they see anything suspicious, need additional ammo or spares.

#6  Chances are there are plenty of safe houses already in the US. The invasion will be a silent one, a trek across the border to pickup points. With all the money ISIS took in Iraq, they can arm up once inside the US through straw buyers. From "strong points" they can attack targets such as police stations, and government facilities.

In other words, large cells will be already established in the US before anyone takes notice, so called "US Officials".

Amid light rain in Islamabad, the PTI chairman charged his supporters by saying that he would make some revelations Saturday night when they would be celebrating the One-Nation Day after the completion of one month of their sit-in. He said the revelations would be about the murder of two MPs.

"I have passed my 29 days here and I will sit here for another 29 days till the resignation of Prime Minister," he asked Nawaz amid slogans of his supporters 'Go Nawaz, Go'.

He asked the crowd that all would have to struggle to make the country 'a real Pakistain of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah'. He for the second day appealed to the local students of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad that he wanted to see them in the sit-in at Azadi Square on Saturday.

Jirga rushes in to rescue talks
[NATION.PK] Fearing break-up in government, Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

negotiations the Political Jirga rushed in by presenting its own proposals for resolution of the issue and facilitating another round of negotiations between the two sides. But even the latest meeting between government and PTI seems to have produced no results.

Talking to media after the meeting with PTI negotiators Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi and Jahangir Khan Tareen, Political Jirga head Sirajul Haq
...current head of the Pak Jamaat-e-Islami. Siraj was born in 1962 and entered politics shortly after that...
disclosed that they have given their set of proposals for the resolution of the matter through negotiations to all the three stakeholders -- PTI, PAT and government --with the hope that all of them would show flexibility in their stiff stand on some issues.

Though Siraj did not say a word about the stalemate in the negotiations, the presentation of proposals by the jirga for the solution of the issue shows that the negotiators had landed in dead allay. Informed sources said that in their final reply to the PTI proposals the government team had not changed its stance on some issues, including the working mode of the Judicial Commission and procedure of verifying the rigging charges.

The talks were about to collapse when Political Jirga members stepped in and convinced the PTI negotiators to carry on with the negotiations and the talks, which according to both PTI and government negotiators were concluded, resumed again with both sides having another round at the residence of Jahangir Tareen on Thursday night.

Inaugurating the relief camp of Al-Khimat Foundation in Lahore, the JI chief said a sum of Rs 10.3 million had been provided by the people of Lahore for flood-hit people. He said the current floods wreaked havoc on Pakistain as India released excessive water to Pak rivers. "These floods are the fifth Indian attack on Pakistain," he said, adding India was responsible for floods-related destruction in Pakistain. "The government's work has just confined to burying people [instead of the saving them from being fallen prey to the natural calamity," said the JI emir. He appealed the Moslem countries to run fund-raising campaign for flood-affected people of Pakistain.

today reiterated that revolution was certain to come and 'oppressors would be doomed to destruction".

Addressing his supporters camping at the D-Chowk Islamabad, the PAT chief said the fire of hell would not touch those who were fighting for the sake of Almighty Allah.

Dr. Qadri said rulers were bent on living their lavishing life style while the poor were being pushed towards more hard-scrabble life.

He slammed the ruling PML-N regime and said their government would soon be tossed by the 'sea of people' gathered in Islamabad, seeking their rights.

It's been around a month that PAT and Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
launched their march against the government, demanding its resignation and re-elections under a revamped electoral and political system.

The government, however, has categorically denied resignation by the PM, as demanded by the PTI and PAT. It may be noted here that no outcome has yielded out of the talks between the government and protesting leaders so far.

Al-Qaeda India branch's first attack ends in dismal failure as jihadists 'raid wrong ship'
[The Telegraph] Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, the new group announced last week by Ayman al-Zawahiri to bolster his flagging fortunes, suffered a setback when three of its fighters were killed and seven arrested in its first ever terror attack.

Heavily armed militants attacked a naval dock in Karachi's sea port on Saturday night and targeted what they believed was an American aircraft carrier, but instead found a Pakistan Navy frigate and were overwhelmed before they could cause any damage, investigators said.
Mistook a Pak navy frigate for an aircraft carrier?
Three jihadis were killed in the attack, four were captured and another three arrested the following day on information from interrogations. Two Pakistan Navy guards were wounded in the fighting.

"It was a complete failure, they did not do any kind of damage, some were captured and we caught more, seven so far and may be more to come. They were well-equipped and came with the intention of taking a ship into their custody but they were caught in the initial stages," a senior source close to the investigation told the Telegraph.

Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, the militant group unveiled by Zawahiri last week to demonstrate his clout despite the rise of Islamic State (Isil), claimed responsibility for the attack on Thursday and said former Pakistan Navy men had carried it out.
Not well versed on maritime issues, but there is a big difference btwn a frigate and a carrier as I recall. Even novice terrorists should be able to discern the obvious differences. Perhaps the actual mission was simply a to grab a ship for ISIL. Something to continue to obviously monitor there and elsewhere.

Petraeus: Fighting ISIS In Iraq Is 'Doable' But Could Be A Nightmare In Syria
[Daily Caller] Gen. David Petraeus, former U.S. force commander for Iraq and Afghanistan, said the maligned Iraqi security forces shouldn't be underestimated, despite their failure to prevent Islamic State extremists from capturing huge swaths of land.

The military failure was more a measure of "political meddling" by Baghdad, he said during a 9/11 memorial event in Denver. With a new government in place and with a strong guiding hand from U.S. military consultants, Petraeus said Iraq is well positioned to route ISIS forces from positions in Mosul and other areas they've overtaken.

He also said ISIS shouldn't be overestimated as to their abilities or the support they may have among local Sunni tribes. Al Qaeda in Iraq, the extremist group he helped defeat during the 2007 troop surge, had much deeper roots in the communities it controlled, he said, and presented a more daunting challenge than ISIS today.

Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 09/13/2014 3:57 Comments || Top||

#4  General, you have to stop thinking about nation-building simultaneous to winning a war. You have to beat them into submission first, then you get to do what you want afterwards. such as nation-building in Iraq or elsewhere or even having affairs.

If the goal is destroying the enemy, wars will be far shorter. You won't end up with interminable wars. WWII was far more complicated with far more moving parts--both in a conventional war sense as well as a clandestine war. The leadership of the country also has to get off the dime and define this effort against ISIS as a war. Allies will be more likely to line up. Even though ISIS/ISIL/IS is growing it is still only a force of about 32,000 by CIA estimates. Don't over-think this thing and make it overly complicated. That doesn't mean don't be smart about it.

Obama authorizes the U.S. military to target the head of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
[NYDAILYNEWS] As part of his expanded campaign against the Islamic State, President B.O. has authorized the U.S. military to target His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, the driving force behind the violent bad boy group, it was reported Thursday.

Until now, restrictions imposed by the President prevented the military from going after the group's leaders.

But the limits were lifted as part of Obama's new offensive against the group, also known as ISIS, the Washington Post reported.

How much longer would the War in the Pacific had lasted if the Japanese Imperial hard boys had succeeded in supplanting Hirohito after the first two nukes were dropped? I think, a year or two longer and 10 million starved, unless those same hard boys had made a point of killing all the POWs they could -- in which case I think it would have motivated the US to repeatedly nuke the home islands to glowing green glass, no matter how long it would have taken, nor how costly it would have been.

Kerry plays down hopes of imminent anti-Islamic State coalition
[REUTERS] U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
on Friday played down chances of an imminent broad coalition against Islamic State bully boys, illustrating the difficulty Washington faces winning commitment for a military campaign in the heart of the Middle East.

Kerry met Turkish leaders to try to secure support for U.S.-led action against Islamic State, but Ankara's reluctance to play a frontline role highlighted the challenges of building a willing coalition to wage what will likely be a tough offensive.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Abbas: PA, Israel Reach Economic Agreement In West Bank, Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
said Friday that an agreement has been reached with Israel in which the Paleostinian Authority will be able to export and import goods and services to and from the West Bank and the Gazoo Strip.

"Anything the [Paleostinian] Authority wants, it will get, and we will also be able to [work] in the Gazoo Strip. This will alleviate the situation for the residents there," he was quoted by Channel 10 as saying.

According to the Paleostinian news agnecy Ma'an, the agreement was reached with the help of United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
representatives.

There was no immediate official announcement or response from the Israeli government.

On Tuesday, the United Nations and the Paleostinian Authority government called for international donors to provide over $550 million in aid to help hundreds of thousands of Gazooks affected by the summer's war with Israel.

But the deputy Paleostinian prime minister warned international donors were hesitant to fund the reconstruction of the Gazoo Strip so long as Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, remains in control there and the specter of future wars looms.

The appeal came two weeks after Israel and Hamas ended 50 days of bloodshed that killed more than 2,100 people according to Gazoo medical sources, and a month ahead of a donors' conference in Cairo. Hamas says most of the dead are civilians, while Israel says half were fighters, many of them operating in populated areas, and that Hamas is to blame for all civilian casualties having set up its war machine in residential areas.

Earlier this week, Abbas threatened to break off a unity agreement with Hamas if the Islamist movement did not allow the government to operate properly in the Gazoo Strip.

"We will not accept the situation with Hamas continuing as it is at the moment," Abbas said on arrival in the Egyptian capital late Saturday, in remarks published by official Paleostinian news agency WAFA.

"We won't accept a partnership with them if the situation continues like this in Gazoo, where there is a shadow government... running the territory," he said. "The national consensus government cannot do anything on the ground," he charged.

But Hamas denounced his allegations as "baseless."

"Abbas's statements against Hamas and the resistance are unjustified," front man Sami Abu Zuhri
...a senior spokesman for Hamas. Zuhri gained notoriety in 2006 when he dropped his money belt containing somewhere between 640,000 and 900,000 euros, which was confiscated by Paleostinian security and customs officials at a routine border crossing from Egypt to Gaza. The news brought competing Hamas and Fatah forces to the crossing checkpoint for an epic face-making and hollering contest...
said in a statement. "It is untrue, baseless and unfair to our people," he said, indicating that Hamas representatives would meet "soon" with their counterparts in the rival Fatah movement to discuss fleshing out the reconciliation deal which was inked in April.

Under the terms of that agreement, the Paleostinians agreed to form an interim consensus government of technocrats, ending seven years of rival administrations in the West Bank and Gazoo.

The unity deal sought to end years of bitter and sometimes bloody rivalry between the Islamist Hamas movement and its Fatah rivals who dominate the West Bank-based Paleostinian Authority.

The new cabinet, which is based in Ramallah, took office on June 2, with Gazoo's Hamas government officially stepping down the same day.

Despite the handover, Hamas has remained the de facto power in Gazoo.

Hamas admits it DID use schools and hospitals in Gaza Strip as 'human shields'
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, appeared to admit using human shields to fire rockets into Israel for the first time today, but refused to accept responsibility for the slaughter of hundreds of innocent Paleostinians killed in retaliatory Arclight airstrikes.

In a veiled confession that comes two weeks after the end of the Gazoo war, a senior Hamas official said the group's fighters had no choice but to use residential areas from which to launch missiles into their neighbour's territory.

But while Ghazi Hamad claimed they took safeguards to keep people away from the violence, he admitted 'mistakes were made', blaming Israel's heavy-handed response for the deaths of civilians.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
ISIS Strikes Deal With Moderate Syrian Rebels
[World Post] As the United States begins to deepen ties with moderate Syrian rebels to combat the extremist group ISIS, also known as the Islamic State, a key component of its coalition appears to have struck a non-aggression pact with the group.
That Arabian proverb about the enemy of my enemy? Refresh my memory again please.
According to Agence France-Presse, ISIS and a number of moderate and hard-line rebel groups have agreed not to fight each other so that they can focus on taking down the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Other sources say the signatories include a major U.S. ally linked to the Free Syrian Army.
Free Syrian Army...? Wouldn't be Sen. John McCain's own Free Moderate Camel Corps would it ?
The deal between ISIS and the moderate Syrian groups casts doubt over President Barack Obama's freshly announced strategy to arm and train the groups against ISIS
Casts doubt? Well yes, it does once again, bring into question the details.
The AFP report cited information from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a U.K.-based group monitoring the Syrian civil war, which said parties to the agreement "promise not to attack each other because they consider the principal enemy to be the Nussayri regime." The term Nussayri refers to the Alawite ethnic group that Assad and many of his supporters belong to. AFP said the agreement was signed in a suburb of the Syrian capital, where ISIS has a strong presence.
Little wonder the UK and France want no part of the Obama solution.
Charles Lister, a fellow at the Brookings Institution's Doha Center, cited a report from the anti-regime Orient Net website to suggest on Twitter that the signatories of the ceasefire include a U.S.-backed coalition called the Syrian Revolutionary Front. According to the U.K.-based outlet Middle East Eye, that same Orient Net report says the ceasefire between groups described in the U.S. as "moderate rebels" and the Islamic State was mediated by the al-Nusra Front, al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria

#1  Some one-hundred or so years ago, officers and NCOs used to be placed on "detached service" to go into hot-spots and potential problem areas. The idea was to observe weapons and tactics (as during the Spanish Civil War,) cultivate contacts, "make friends" and look for potential areas of support and possible basing/staging opportunities.

Pity that's been left aside.

For Assad, U.S. offensive will weaken one foe but bolster others
[Beirut Daily Star] By striking ISIS holy warriors in Syria, the United States would be weakening one of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
's major enemies. But the new U.S. strategy may still unnerve Assad by helping other opponents determined to overthrow him.

The U.S. strategy for tackling ISIS in Syria is unlikely to yield quick results. Unlike in Iraq, where U.S. Arclight airstrikes quickly rolled back some jihadist advances, Washington has no strong partner on the ground.

ISIS Is at Least Twice as Big as We First Thought It Was
[TheWire] As the United States prepares to step up its campaign against ISIS, a new CIA report shows the radical Sunni group has at least double (and possibly triple) the number of fighters in its ranks than had previously been speculated.

The new CIA intelligence assessment was released late on Thursday in which information was culled from various reports across the summer, which as the AP reports, "estimates that the Islamic State group can muster between 20,000 and 31,500 fighters across Iraq and Syria, up from a previous figure of 10,000."
CNN has a good deal more detail here.

White House says US is at war with ISIL
[Iran Press TV] The White House has announced that the United States is at war with the ISIL terrorist group, rejecting Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
's remarks about the terror network.

"In the same way that we are at war with al-Qaeda and its affiliates around the globe, we are at war with ISIL," White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on Friday.

He made the comments one day after Kerry said that the US strategy to fight ISIL included "many different things that one doesn't think of normally in context of war."

Earnest added that Washington's new strategy was "different than the strategies previously pursued in Iraq."

The strategy for handling the group was "consistent with the counterterrorism strategy we've pursued in cases all around the world," he said.

"This president, as is expected of American presidents, is stepping up to lead an international coalition to confront that threat and to deny ISIL a safe haven. And ultimately, this international coalition will be responsible for degrading and destroying ISIL," according to the press secretary.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the enormous newt was trying to decide if Gloria was edible...
Pentagon front man John Kirby reiterated that the US military is at war with ISIL.

During a speech on Wednesday, President Barack Obama
Ready to Rule from Day One...
said that his country was prepared to expand its bombing campaign against ISIL Death Eaters and launch Arclight airstrikes in Syria.

The Pentagon announced that the United States already has conducted more than154 Arclight airstrikes against ISIL targets in Iraq.

The B.O. regime has also planned to further arm and train what it calls "moderate" hard boyz in Syria to fight against ISIL terrorists.
