400 Migrants Overwhelmed US Border in Yuna Sector During Week-Long Period
[Daily Caller] Nearly 400 migrants traveled underground Monday through a series of tunnels built by smugglers before turning themselves in to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in what appears to be the largest single group of migrants ever attempting to seek asylum.

Smugglers dug a series of seven holes just a few feet beneath the steel border near San Luis, Arizona, ABC News reported. Hundreds of asylum seekers went under with a few attempting to climb over the 12 foot wall.

Of the 179 minors in the group, Newsweek reported, 30 of them were unaccompanied.

Another 247 migrants crossed the border Wednesday by the Antelope Wells Port of Entry and entered New Mexico; Both groups voluntarily turned themselves in. (RELATED: Government Shutdown May Soon Cost More Than Trump’s Border Wall)

"In my 30 years with the Border Patrol, I have not been part of arresting a group of 376 people," CBP Yuma Border Sector Chief Anthony Porvaznik told ABC News. "That’s really unheard of."

Porvaznik said that while his team needs stronger barriers, its foremost concern right now is having enough funding to take care of the families that crossed over.

Obama Bundler Terry Bean Indicted on Charges of Sex Abuse of a Minor
[PJ] Terry Bean, the prominent gay rights activist and Obama fundraiser, has been indicted on charges that he sexually abused a boy under the age of 16. The charges stem from an incident in 2013 that prosecutors previously investigated. The case was originally dismissed in 2014 because the victim refused to cooperate. Bean pleaded not guilty in an arraignment hearing on Thursday.

Bean's indictment comes on the heels of news of an accusation against another prominent gay rights activist and Democratic fundraiser, Ed Buck. As I wrote last week for PJ Media, Buck and Bean represent a long line of prominent Democrats that have been implicated in sex crimes ‐ often perpetrated against minors.

Here's last week's summary of Bean's misdeeds:

Man jumps from 11th story cruise ship balcony, gets lifetime ban from Royal Caribbean
[SunSentinel] Royal Caribbean has banned a group of men from ever traveling with the cruise line again after one of them jumped off a ship’s deck and posted a video of the stunt on social media.

Nick Naydev, of Vancouver, Washington, posted the video on Instagram Friday showing him standing on the balcony of the Symphony of the Seas and then jumping off into the waters in the Bahamas where the ship was docked. The video has more than 80,000 views and more than 1,000 comments. One of his friends Konstantin Kryachun recorded the video and posted the full video which shows Naydev splashing into the water and wading.

"He’s jumped from those kind of heights before, and we didn’t really care about the consequences with the cruise company," Kryachun told Yahoo Lifestyle. "We just wanted to get a video of it and make it go viral."

In the comments section, Naydev estimated that he jumped from the 11th story deck or about "110-120 feet" high.

Two deer in one shot: She's a 101-year-old Mississippi hunter and she's still going strong
[Clarion Ledger] After missing four this season, Vickers was determined to bag a deer.

And when one came in view from her position in her blind, she decided to watch and wait.

"I decided to wait for a bigger one," Vickers said. "Before long, a bigger doe came out and I shot.

"Then I saw two deer on the ground. It shot plum through both of them. They both dropped right there. They didn't take another step. I knew it was back there, but I didn't realize it was that close to her where it could get shot."

The hunt was monumental for Vickers. It was her first successful deer hunt as a 101-year-old. And although completely by accident, it was the first time she'd bagged two deer in one shot.

Zimbabwe again forces 'total internet shutdown' amid unrest
God forbid the citizenry be able to communicate with the outside world or one another...
[DAWN] A media group says Zim-bob-we's government has again forced a "total internet shutdown" after a days-long violent crackdown on people protesting dramatic fuel price increases.

MISA-Zim-bob-we shares a text message from the country's largest telecom company, Econet, calling the government order "beyond our reasonable control".

The shutdown faces a court challenge from MISA-Zim-bob-we and Zim-bob-we Lawyers for Human Rights.

A prominent pastor and activist who faces a possible 20 years in prison on a subversion charge is set to appear in court again on Friday.

UPDATE 6-Mexican pipeline blast during fuel raid kills at least 21 fuel thieves
MEXICO CITY, Jan 18 (Reuters) - At least 21 people were killed and 71 were injured on Friday when a pipeline ruptured by suspected fuel thieves exploded in central Mexico as dozens of people tried to fill up containers, state and federal authorities said.

Mexican television footage showed flames leaping into the night sky in the municipality of Tlahuelilpan, in Hidalgo state north of Mexico City, as people screamed and cried for help.

Hidalgo’s governor Omar Fayad told Mexican television that emergency services had registered the charred bodies of 21 people, and that at least 71 others had been injured. However, the blaze had yet to be extinguished, he said.

"There’s still a very hot area where we think the number of injured or dead we haven’t had access to could rise," he said.
Update from Ynet at 9:30 a.m. ET:
The corpse count from the kaboom of a pipeline ruptured by suspected fuel thieves in central Mexico has risen to 66, the governor of the state of Hidalgo said on Saturday.

At a news conference with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Hidalgo Governor Omar Fayad said 76 people had also been injured in Friday evening's kaboom, which happened as people tried to fill containers with fu

Lopez Obrador pledged to step up his government's drive to stamp out fuel theft, which has cost the country billions of dollars in the last few years.

Inquiring minds wonder if the cartels - already a defacto branch of the govt - might not do a better job of running the country. Maybe Trump should be negotiating with them to deal with cross-border traffic.

Europe
Germany's Most reliable Partners (German Poll). 70% distrust Russia, 78% distrust America

Can we all admit NATO was a project that's past its time? Why are the Americans still in NATO? Germany doesn't trust them, and other polls say they're Germany's greatest threat. It's long past time for Europe to put on its big boy pants and go its own way. The American deep state is going to start war after war in their quest to completely re-order the Middle East in a quixotic attempt to create liberal democracies there. It's time for an amicable divorce.

French rapper MHD charged with murder over Paris brawl
[CAPITALFM.CO.KE] French rapper MHD was on Thursday charged with murder over a fight that led to the death of a young man in July, his lawyer said in a statement.

The 24-year-old Gay Pareeian performer, whose real name is Mohammed Sylla, "contests any involvement in this brawl", lawyer Elise Arfi said in the statement sent to AFP.

She said she would appeal against the presiding judge’s decision to hold her client in provisional detention.

The rapper was detained along with three other suspects who were also charged over the incident in which a 23-year-old man died after having been stabbed and beaten in the French capital, in what a source close to the enquiry called "a settling of scores" between rival gangs.

Sylla’s lawyer said he had "never been involved in conflicts between rival gangs".

MHD, a contraction of his first name Mohammed, is the self-proclaimed inventor of "Afro-trap", a new brand of hip-hop. He is best known for "Afro Trap Part. 3 (Champions League)", a song in praise of the Gay Paree Saint-Germain football club and for his eponymous first album.

Entire Sharifpura village found stealing power
[DAWN] A Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) team disconnected power supply on Thursday to village Sharifpura (GT Road) after it found almost all residents stealing electricity directly from low tension (LT) lines.

"There were only eight houses where the residents were using electricity through legal connections. However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
the rest, whose connections were already cut by the Lesco’s GT Road sub-divisional office due to non-payment, were found stealing electricity directly from the LT lines," said a front man for the company.

The front man said the team, after finding most of the residents involved in power theft, removed two transformers installed in the village, disconnected power supply to the entire village. It also submitted applications to the respective cop shoppe for registration of FIRs against the power thieves.

Women's bicycle rally in Peshawar cancelled after protest threat by devout men with turbans
Moslem holy men + women's bicycle seats = recipe for disaster
[DAWN] The first women's bicycle rally scheduled to take place in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
on January 19 was cancelled after religious parties on Friday threatened to protest against the event, officials said.

Zama Jawandoon, an organization working for women's rights, had organised the 'peace rally' that was scheduled to begin from Peshawar's Hayatabad neighbourhood on Saturday.

According to the event's organiser, Wafa Wazir, at least 35 women were slated to participate in the rally and they had also invited people from the transgender community.

But the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a Pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
‐ Fazl (JUI-F), Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
, and other religious parties on Friday announced they would stage a protest against the rally at the Bagh-e-Naran in Hayatabad.

"The women's bicycle rally is spreading obscenity," JUI-F's Maulana Rafiullah Qasmi was quoted as saying at a meeting held earlier today.
"The idea of those plump, pumping thighs, the butts... the succulent, swaying boobies, bent low over the long, round, hard handlebars... I must... I must... shoot off! My gun! I must shoot off my gun! Oh, Allah! Grant me... boobies!"
He announced that they would contact the relevant departments to have the event cancelled and if that is not done, a demonstration will be held against the rally at 9am tomorrow.

The threat of the protest led the organisers to cancel the rally a day before it was scheduled to take place.

Speaking to DawnNewsTV, Wafa Wazir, the lead organiser, said they had approached the Peshawar district administration before announcing the rally and were subsequently issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to hold the event.

But she said they had decided to postpone the event after the protest call by religious groups because they did not want the rally to take place in a state of any unrest.

When contacted, police said the organisers of the event had not approached them to obtain an NOC or seek security.

"After receiving information about the [planned] protest against the race, police contacted the organisers and they revealed that the rally had been postponed," SP Cantt Wasim Riaz said.

He said it was the responsibility of police to provide security to any events in the city, adding that organisers must first obtain police clearance.

According to SP Riaz, police had not received any directions from the district administration or any other department for the provision of security to the women's bicycle rally.

Meanwhile,
...back at the fist fight, Jake ducked another roundhouse, then parried with his left, then with his right, finally with his chin...
the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa directorate general of sports issued a statement to distance itself from the scheduled rally, even though it practically had nothing to do with the event.

"It has come to the notice of the [sports directorate] that some people are agitating protest regarding the organising of [a] female cycle race," the notice read. "It is clarified that this office is unaware regarding the organising of the said event."

It said the directorate had neither organised the event nor was the Hayatabad Sports Complex being provided to any NGO to hold the same.

Tokyo start-up launches satellite into space to deliver 'shooting stars on demand'
[DAWN] A rocket carrying a satellite on a mission to deliver the world's first artificial meteor shower blasted into space on Friday, Japanese scientists said.

A start-up based in Tokyo developed the micro-satellite for the celestial show over Hiroshima early next year as the initial experiment for what it calls a "shooting stars on demand" service.

The satellite is to release tiny balls that glow brightly as they hurtle through the atmosphere, simulating a meteor shower.

It hitched a ride on the small-size Epsilon-4 rocket that was launched from the Uchinoura space centre by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on Friday morning.

The rocket carried a total of seven ultra-small satellites that will demonstrate various "innovative" technologies, JAXA front man Nobuyoshi Fujimoto told AFP.

By early afternoon, JAXA confirmed all seven satellites had successfully been launched into orbit.

"I was too moved for words," Lena Okajima, president of the company behind the artificial meteor showers, told the Jiji Press agency. "I feel like now the hard work is ahead."

The company ALE Co. Ltd plans to deliver its first out-of-this-world show over Hiroshima in the spring of 2020.

The satellite launched on Friday carries 400 tiny balls whose chemical formula is a closely-guarded secret. That should be enough for 20-30 events, as one shower will involve up to 20 stars, according to the company.

ALE's satellite, released 500 kilometres above the Earth, will gradually descend to 400km over the coming year as it orbits the Earth.
