Taliban pledge not to target Afghan army, police
That pledge and $8.59 will get you a coffee at Starbucks.
[Al Jazeera] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
says it will not target the Afghan police and military in the country any more due to the high number of casualties suffered by the security forces in the ongoing conflict.

The gang declared in a rare statement on Friday "a general amnesty to all military formations, national army, national police, Arbakis (local police) and all employees of the regime to safeguard their lives and wealth".

While stating that the main target of its recently launched spring offensive in the country are the Americans and their allies, the gang said security officials often come under fire because they are "protecting the foreign invaders and the corrupt regime which they have installed".

"These security forces, however, are our own countrymen who have joined the ranks of America due to misguidance or other reasons," the statement said.

"In case you do leave the enemy ranks ... the mujahideen of Islamic Emirate shall use every means at their disposal to try and ease your life."

Somali Parliament Calls For Ceasefire In Tukaraq Amid Brewing Tension
[RADIOSHABELLE] The speaker of the Lower House chamber of Somalia’s Federal Parliament, Mohammed Mursal has called for an end to fighting in Tukaraq town in the disputed Sool region.

The hostilities between the breakaway Somaliland and Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
state renewed on 15th May after a heavy fighting broke out outside the town, leading to heavy casualties.

More than 45 soldiers from both sides were killed and dozens maimed during Tuesday’s festivities, according to the local residents and medics.

Somaliland and Puntland traded blames of each other for the start of the battle for control of the town which lies 90Km north of Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland state.

The speaker’s call came after the Parliamentary Standing Committees’ meeting in Mogadishu. He urged the sides to opt for dialogue to resolve their dispute.

Somaliland and Puntland both claim the ownership of the two disputed regions of Sool and Sanag situated in northern Somalia and fought sporadic battles since 2002.

Somaliland declared independence from Somalia on 18th May 1991, but has not yet achieved any formal international recognition as a sovereign state.

“Far-right” Dutch lawmaker Wilders appeals discrimination ruling
[IsraelTimes] Firebrand opposition leader back in court to fight conviction for 'inflammatory' rally against Moroccans during a 2014 election campaign

Firebrand Dutch politician Geert Wilders returns to court Thursday to appeal his 2016 conviction for discrimination, unrepentant in the personal battle he is waging against Islam.

The far-right MP has seen the fortunes of his Freedom Party (PPV) soar in both general and local elections in recent years and now heads the biggest opposition party in the Dutch parliament.

His case will be back in a high-security court near Schiphol airport as Wilders appeals the December 2016 ruling which found him guilty of discrimination against Moroccans during a 2014 election rally.

The populist MP was however acquitted of hate speech and the judges decided not to impose any sentence or fine.

Prosecutors are also appealing and judges have allocated 11 days for the hearing. The verdict is due to be handed down on July 6.

Wilders told the popular De Telegraaf tabloid this week that he was not worried about the outcome of his appeal, saying: "I’ve gone through it all before."

He said his lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops would address the court for him.

At the 2014 rally Wilders asked supporters whether they wanted "fewer or more Moroccans in your city and in the Netherlands".

When the crowd shouted back "Fewer! Fewer!" a smiling Wilders answered: "We’re going to organise that."

After a three-week trial, the three judges ruled that due to "the inflammatory nature of the way in which the statements were made, others were encouraged to discriminate against people of Moroccan origin."

But they added there was "insufficient evidence" to find that his words amounted to incitement to hatred.

Wilders largely snubbed the trial, and his lawyer refused to tell AFP this week if the politician would attend the appeal opening on Thursday.

But after the December verdict was handed down, Wilders vowed he would never stay silent, and has remained true to his word.

He put forward a fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
platform for the 2017 general elections, vowing to close mosques, ban sales of the Koran and halt the immigration of Moslem refugees to the country.

And he courted further controversy ahead of this year’s local polls in March, by tweeting a message saying in Dutch and English "Islam is deadly" in big red letters, apparently dripping in blood.

’Bill to outlaw Islam’
The message was loudly condemned by other parties, but many voters were not put off, with the PVV gaining seats in 20 local councils, more than the party has ever held.

Despite the looming court case, Wilders has kept up a steady stream of attacks on Islam as a religion whose "imams preach hatred".

Last month he said his PVV was working on a bill to go before the Dutch parliament to pass "legislation to outlaw as much Islam as possible".

The appeal judges have demanded the prosecution provide detailed information about how the 6,400 complaints received about Wilders’ 2014 speech were handled.

But they rejected a defence request for other witnesses to be called, which reportedly included Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

EU launches ‘blocking statute’ to stem effects of US sanctions of Iran
[IsraelTimes] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
on Friday launches "the blocking statute" process to spare Europeans from US sanctions on Iran as part of efforts to preserve the nuclear deal with Tehran.

The European Commission, the EU executive, says it "launched the formal process to activate the Blocking Statute by updating the list of US sanctions on Iran falling within its scope."

Merkel cautious on compensation after US pullout from Iran deal

[Ynet] German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
is signaling it won't be feasible to offer wide-ranging compensation to European companies affected by US sanctions over Iran's nuclear program.

Merkel said Thursday after EU leaders met in Bulgaria that "all European Union member states still stand by this agreement."

But she was cautious about possible compensation for companies that do business with Iran. She said that "we can see whether we can give small and medium-sized companies certain relief. That is being examined."

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
Merkel added: "As for compensating all businesses in a comprehensive way for such measures by the United States of America, I think we cannot and must not create illusions."

#10  Why are the Europeans so fucking desperate to keep funding the largest terrorist funding nation in the world?

A few billion dollars of potential annual profits from selling to Iran's 80m population. Prior to our getting entangled in all kinds of alliances post-WWII, we traded with everyone. It was only after Japan invaded China, and, in so doing, threatened the Philippine Islands (then a US possession), that we severely restricted trade with the Japanese. The Europeans want to sell to Iran because they are operating under the illusion that Iran is at heart peaceful, but if that turns out not to be the case, Uncle Sam will deal with the fallout (maybe literally).

I suspect Europe will not buck the US on this. Because in the worst case, we could simply leave NATO, and the EU would be on the hook for hundreds of billions of dollars worth of defense expenditures they'd need to fork up in order to replace the American defense umbrella.

Erdogan calls on Muslim countries to unite and confront Israel
[Al Jazeera] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
has called on Moslem leaders to unite and confront Israel, days after scores of Paleostinians were killed by Israeli snipers as they marked 70 years of Israeli occupation.

Speaking at an extraordinary summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday, Erdogan said Israel should be held accountable over the killings which drew widespread international condemnation and triggered a wave of protests from Asia, through the Middle East, to North Africa.

"To take action for Paleostinians massacred by Israeli bandidos is to show the whole world that humanity is not dead," Erdogan told the group of Moslem leaders gathered in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....

The Ottoman Turkish president described Israel's killing of Paleostinians as "thuggery, atrocity and state terror," and said the US' recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital would inevitably haunt it.

US lawmaker moves to block sale of 100 F-35 fighter jets to Turkey
[ALMASDARNEWS] A new bill proposed in the US House of Representatives calls for stopping the proposed sales of more than 100 F-35 fighter jets and related intellectual property to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, Congressman David Cicilline said in a blurb.

"Cicilline is introducing the bipartisan Ban F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Sales to Turkey Act today," the release said on Thursday. "The Ban F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Sales to Turkey Act prohibits the sale or transfer of F-35 aircraft and any related intellectual property or technical data to Turkey."

The ban, the release added, can only be lifted if the White House can certify that the Ottoman Turkish government is not undermining NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
and is not unlawfully jailing US citizens, among other conditions.

"We cannot turn a blind eye to Turkey’s thuggish, reprehensible behavior," Cicilline, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said. "It’s important that we hold NATO members to the same standard we would hold any other country."

He added that banning the sale of the F-35 to Turkey "is just common sense." The bill has been referred to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
According to the release, the relationship between the US and Turkey has become strained in recent months due to alleged human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
violation by the Ottoman Turkish regime, led by President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
. The regime has been accused of cracking down on dissent and free speech.

In mid-April, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell said Ankara’s purchase of the S-400 air defense missile systems from Russia could negatively affect the delivery of the fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets to Turkey.

Christian community puts forth grievances regarding recent 'raids' in meeting with Karachi police
[DAWN] Representatives of the Christian community met with coppers at the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
District Inspector General East's office on Friday and informed them about their reservations regarding recent "raids" in the Youhanabad neighbourhood, DawnNewsTV reported.

Murtaza Bhutto, the Superintendent of Police in Gulshan, acted as the focal person for the discussions which took place today. Father Saleh Diego, Gay Pareeh Priest at St Paul Gay Pareeh, represented the community.

Residents of Youhanabad Christian Colony, located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13-G, have been protesting against the mysterious disappearances of young Christian men.

The affected families allege that within the span of a few weeks, 24 young Christians were picked up from the neighbourhood by the police.

During the course of the discussion, the community representatives expressed disappointment that the matter has seen no resolution.

According to the residents of the neighbourhood in question, these men who appear to be security officials, show up wearing masks in the dead of the night, riding in cars without licence plates. They break down doors across the neighbourhood and enter homes with reckless abandon.

The families allege that these "raids" started taking place since March 30 when six young men were taken away. On April 15, four youth were nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
and on May 8, 14 youngsters were made to disappear.

The affected families said that the 14 young men who were arrested on the night of May 8 are still missing.

"First they asked my husband's name and demanded to see his identity card. Then they beat him up and dragged him away," a woman complained during the meeting.

She revealed that her husband is a dental technician and holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree. He had recently applied for admission to a Master's programme. The day he was taken away, he had appeared in an interview at a call centre.

Another affected family said that on April 15, these "officers" broke into their home, using cutters on the locks.

"They sent someone pictures of our four sons over Whatsapp and upon "verification" took two of the boys away with them," a member of the family said, adding that they have managed to obtain bail for one of the boys.

The young man released on bail said that he was kept blindfolded and transported to some location at SITE area.

"They beat me and subjected me to electrical torture for three days. They kept asking me to do exactly as they say. They constantly kept asking me about different people, encounters and weapons," he said during the discussion.

He was taken away on April 15 and on April 20 a false case was registered against him.

Another family complained that their son and nephew were also forcibly taken away.

A man from an affected family said his two brothers have also been taken away by "officers". One of the brothers is an electrician while the other is a Matric student.

The day the man's brothers were taken away, the Matric student had an exam which he could not appear in. The boy does not even have an identity card owing to his young age.

The man expressing his vexation over the situation said that it was no better than "the law of the jungle where people were picked up at the officers' whims and there was no telling as to the whereabouts of any of the missing men".

Israel says it won’t cooperate with UN human rights council probe of Gaza deaths
Who said what to whom about this new blood libel, plus a photo of the final tally of yeas, nays, and abstentions can be seen at the link.
[IsraelTimes] Netanyahu denounces council as 'a hypocritical and biased body whose purpose is to harm Israel and back terror'; Haley: 'Another shameful day'

Israel said Friday that it will not cooperate with an investigation ordered by the UN Human Rights Council into the IDF’s killing of Paleostinians in violence on the Gazoo border this week.

The US, one of two countries to vote against the investigation, called the move "another shameful day for human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
The UN’s top human rights body voted through a resolution calling on the council to "urgently dispatch an independent, international commission of inquiry" after the deaths of some 60 Paleostinians ‐ the council’s highest-level of investigation. Almost all of the dead were members of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, the terror group has acknowledged.

"We have no intention of cooperating," Israel’s deputy foreign minister said.

The council voted 29 in favor and two against with 14 countries abstaining. Australia and the US were the two countries to oppose the decision. The council also condemned "the disproportionate and indiscriminate use of force by the Israeli occupying forces against Paleostinian civilians."

The inquiry mandated by the council will be asked to produce a final report next March.

Israel is not a member of the UNHRC, and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Thursday called on the US to leave it. "We need to stop lending a hand to this hypocrisy-fest," he said.

The draft resolution, which was presented by Pakistain on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and backed by 47 UN member states, said Sherlocks should probe "all violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law ... in the context of the military assaults on large-scale civilian protests that began on 30 March 2018."

It said the aim should be to "establish the facts and circumstances" around "alleged violations and abuses including those that may amount to war crimes and to identify those responsible."

Six Kurdish parties consider withdrawing from Iraqi political process
[Rudaw] ERBIL, Kurdistan Region ‐ After receiving no response to their calls for a manual recount or a full do-over of the election in the Kurdistan Region and the disputed territories because of reports of fraud, six Kurdish parties are contemplating pulling out of the political process.

Gorran’s National Assembly "will next week discuss the party’s decision to withdraw from the political process," the party’s media announced on Friday.

Gorran, the Coalition for Democracy and Justice (CDJ), the Kurdistan Islamic League (Komal), the Kurdistan Communist Party, the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), and the Kurdistan Islamic Movement (IMK) have formed a united front as they protest "systematic and pre-planned fraud" in last Saturday’s parliamentary elections.

The leadership of all six of the parties are contemplating withdrawing from the Iraqi political process.

According to preliminary official results, the PUK won in Sulaimani and Kirkuk by a large margin.

The election commission has so far rejected calls for a revote or a manual recount and has come under fire for allegations of violations.

"We the six parties will not accept this result and will explore all options after being disappointed in the electoral commission. The body we have formed represents peoples’ objections too," said Irfan Abdulaziz, IMK leader, according to Gorran’s Sbeiy media.

Mohammed Hakim, a member of Komal’s political council, said his party will also have a meeting in order to discuss withdrawal from the political process.

Separately, New Generation has also contested the results, filing a lawsuit in Baghdad against Iraq's electoral commission on Monday. The KDP has backed a manual recount in Sulaimani.

The PUK has asked for the results in Kirkuk to be approved.

The election commission was expected to release final results 10pm local time on Friday, but pushed the announcement back by an hour.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas chief says group looking to expand clashes to West Bank
[IsraelTimes] The leader of Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, says the terror group will work to expand the violent border festivities in Gazoo to the West Bank.

Speaking at Gazoo City’s Great Mosque, Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
vows the violent "March of Return" protests will continue, after they dropped off dramatically following Monday’s deadly riots.

"The March of Return will continue until it achieves its goals, among them expressing opposition to the Trump [peace] deal," Channel 10 reports Haniyeh as saying. "The march will not stop until the blockade on the Gazoo Strip is fully lifted. We won’t accept half-solutions."

Haniyeh also addresses reports earlier in the week that Israel warned Hamas it would target its leaders if the terror group does not rein in the festivities.

"These are rumors that don’t scare us. We grew up on the values of deaders. Our blood ‐ the commanders ‐ is not more dear than the blood of the Gazook people," Haniyeh says.

#2  Hamas has been trying to expand into the West Bank for years. The mass rocket attacks of a few years ago were supposed to dovetail with the decapitation of the PA rulers, attacks on Israelis from operatives in the West Bank, and an eruption of attacks and kidnappings through the Gaza tunnels.

Unfortunately, a couple of their West Bank operatives got bored and kidnapped three Haredi schoolboys. In the hunt that followed, the Israelis disovered much and arrested more, pretty much spiking Hamas’s guns.

Israel builds unique ‘missile net’ to protect new airport near Eilat
[IsraelTimes] New barrier, developed specifically to help secure the airport, is part of defenses along the Jordan border

Israel has built a unique "missile net" to defend a new airport, as part of a newly completed segment of its eastern border barrier, a military official said Friday.

The 34-kilometer (21-mile) fence runs along Israel’s border with Jordan, beginning near the Israeli Red Sea resort of Eilat and reaching the site of a new airport being constructed in the Timna Valley.

The fence, 6 meters (20 feet) high, is part of a broader strategy by Israel to surround itself by protective barriers, including at its southwestern border with Egypt, to prevent bully boyz and migrants colonists crossing the border illegally.

Part of the new segment is accompanied by a 26-meter "net" developed specifically to protect the new Ramon airport.

The missile fence is designed to intercept projectiles and surface-to-surface missiles, the official said.

Neighboring Jordan is one of only two Arab states to have a peace treaty with Israel, but is home to some krazed killer sympathizers and a number of radical holy mans.

The airport, some 19 kilometers (11 miles) north of Eilat, is expected to begin operation in late 2018 or early 2019 and boost tourism in the area.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Boosted by Lebanon Vote, Geagea Eyes ‘Hezbollah’ and Reform
[AAWSAT] The Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
(LF), which made big gains in Leb's parliamentary elections earlier this month, said it will use its stronger position to press for "Hezbollah's" weapons to be brought under government control and to root out corruption in the heavily indebted state.

The LF, which almost doubled its number of MPs in the May 6 election, expects to convert those gains into more power in a new coalition government that Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri is expected to lead, LF chief Samir Geagea
... Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005 ...
told Rooters in an interview published on Friday.

Geagea said it would "no doubt" be difficult to form the new government which - like the outgoing one - will share out ministries among Leb's rival parties, including the Iran-backed "Hezbollah".

But citing intentions expressed by Lebanese leaders and the pressing need for economic reform, Geagea held out hope the cabinet formation would not take too long. He confirmed his party was moving towards nominating Hariri as premier again.

The formation process may have, however, hit a glitch with the United States announcing on Wednesday sanctions against "Hezbollah" Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and his deputy, Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
. Other sanctions also targeted one of its major financiers.

Leb was in dire need of a "truly new" government to tackle corruption, Geagea said.

"I believe everyone has realized now that the ship might sink with everyone aboard," he added, referring to the economic risks facing the state with the world's third highest debt as a share of output. "I believe we are in a new phase."

The LF is the second biggest Christian party after the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
(FPM) established by President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
...

, a "Hezbollah" ally who became head of state in 2016.

While Aoun has expressed support for "Hezbollah's" possession of weapons as a deterrent to Israel, Geagea is the Shiite group's most significant Christian adversary in Leb and an opponent of its allies in Damascus and Tehran, reported Rooters.

"Hezbollah" and its allies also emerged with the parliamentary majority in the recent elections.

Including the FPM, Hezbollah and factions that back its possession of arms won more than 70 of parliament's 128 seats.

Hariri was always expected to lose out under a new proportional system, but he remains the leading Sunni figure in Leb's sectarian system.

Geagea, however, disputed that "Hezbollah" had come out stronger, saying the FPM was no real ally of the group and its backing for its weapons was "just verbal".

The LF, which won 15 seats, emerged from a Christian militia led by Geagea through the final phase of the 1975-90 civil war.

"Hezbollah", set up by Iran's Revolutionary Guards, was the only Lebanese group to keep its weapons at the end of the war.

It used them to fight Israeli troops occupying southern Leb.

Since Israel withdrew in 2000, the arms have been a point of contention and the group has been deemed a terrorist organization by the United States.

Noting that "Hezbollah" was part of the cabinet, Geagea said his party would propose - as a temporary measure - that its arsenal be put at the command of the government.

Qaeda chief in Syria: no merger with other groups
[ALMASDARNEWS] Commander of al-Qaeda-linked group in Syria denied reports about the group’s intention to dissolve and merge with other rebel factions in Syria’s north.

In a speech delivered after Friday prayers, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani told a congregation that all reports about creating a merger with any other group ‐ including Faylaq al-Sham ‐ are farce and untrue.

"The organizational structure of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
is something not to be negotiated or bargained about outside the HTS circle of leadership", he said.

Unconfirmed reports circulated recently stated that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
is seeking to create a new rebel alliance which includes all FSA-affiliated groups in northern Syria such as Free Idlib Army, Jaish al-Izza, Jaish al-Nasser, 1st Coastal Division, as well as Faylaq al-Sham which is expected to lead the alliance.

Yesterday, Turkey has set up the 12th and last observation post in the west countryside of Idlib province as per Astana peace talks.
