Obama weighing all options to pressure Libyan leader
That's all right, then. He's got things in hand.
[Arab News] Nine days after the turmoil began in Libya, President Barack B.O. Obama condemned Muammar Qadaffy's violent crackdown against anti-government protesters.

"The suffering and bloodshed is outrageous and it is unacceptable," Obama said at the White House late Wednesday.

"So are orders to shoot peaceful protesters and to punish the people of Libya," he added.

The president said he is sending Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another George C. Marshall ...
to Europe to Geneva for international talks Monday to discuss what actions can be taken to stop the violence.
You'll know he's serious when he sends HRC to Tripoli to badger Quacky in person.
But Obama did not call for a change in Libya's autocratic government or announce specific sanctions that the United States would support to punish the country for actions that he said "violate international norms and every standard of common decency."

Obama said he was studying a "full range of options" to pressure Qadaffy's regime to halt attacks against Libyans as violent festivities spread throughout the North African country, including sanctions the US would initiate with its allies. The European Union is also considering sanctions.

The United States strongly supports the universal rights of Libyans and all people to enjoy the freedoms of peaceful assembly, free speech and the ability to determine their own destiny, Obama said. "These are human rights
... which are not the same thing as individual rights, mind you...
. They are not negotiable. They must be respected in every country and they cannot be denied through violence or suppression," Obama said.

#1  Another chapter in the continuing drama of the President's attempt to surpass Benjamin Harrison in achieving a "Legacy of Adequacy"*.

*And still falling far short.

#3  uh, let's see, option A, uh, "present" and then there's option 2, that'll be, uh, "present" plus then the last option should be "present". HEY! this presidentin' is easy once you get the swing of it. Speaking of swing when can we get some jive turkeys, like, oh, Justin Bieber to come sing for us.

#4  More like straining toward the likely unobtainable goal of near-adequacy.

#5  Obama is going to unleash his dreaded JIVE on Qadaffy.

#6  Benjamin Harrison? I'd say James Buchannan.

#7  Oh, I doubt that he's considering the oldest idea at all:

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean:
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

#8  KEEPER: Stop! What is your name?
GALAHAD: Sir Galahad of Camelot.
KEEPER: What is your quest?
GALAHAD: I seek the Holy Grail.
KEEPER: What is your favorite color?
GALAHAD: Blue. No yel-- Auuuuuuuugh!

#9  Weighing all options? This means he is trying to decide what to do that is politically expedient to get re-elected. I got news for you Obumble, I'd vote for a turnip before any Democrat. Not voting for a RINO comes in a close second.

#10  So a near-unilateral idea to invade a country to remove a dictator rife with atrocities past and current, possessing WMD which could be used at any time, and secure for its future freedom of the people, rule of law, and its economy.

I have heard this before.

#11  "Obama weighing all options to pressure Libyan leader"

If a republican were president the headline would read.
"Bush dithers over Libyan leader"

#12  Obama said he was studying a "full range of options"...

At first glance this may seem like the typical stalling tactic we've come to expect from this Administration. But behind the scenes any situation can be quite complex. The O-Team's instinctual reaction to all events is to first craft the most favorable narrative for The One. Not America, mind you, but Barak himself. And contrary to the gospel according to The Deciples of the Light Bringer these propositions are not always mutually inclusive. Their second order of business is to instruct The Ridicule Czar to anticipate and develope an immediate response to his critics. Because this list now includes recently former US friends and allies things can get a bit dicey. Finally, The Dept. of Logical Fallacies is tasked with a longer term strategy to confront reality. So, next time, remember to appreciate all the unseen coordination that is required when you hear the teleprompter speak.

#15  G'Daffy has gone to the mattresses, so his options have been sifted down to a few, and they all involve kinetics. Too late for talk. And sending SoS HC around is just burning jet fuel and contributing to Global Warming Climate Change Anthroprogenic Whatever.

#17  Does a fool range of options involve an "apology?"
John QC; normally this would be viewed as a typographical error, but I think you have embedded some serious subtle humor about where the 'options' would come from.
Excellent work!
