Obama - Pass my debt limit increase or I starve Grandma!
President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks.
Somehow I think the checks to ACORN, Planned Parenthood and the enviro-weenies will still go out. Just a sense I have of things.
"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it," Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News.

The Obama administration and many liberal economists have warned of economic catastrophe if the United States does not raise the amount it is legally allowed to borrow by August 2.

Lawmakers from both parties want to use the threat of that deadline to work out a broader package on long-term deficit reduction, with Republicans looking to cut trillions of dollars in federal spending, while Democrats are pushing for a more "balanced approach," which would include both spending cuts and increased revenue through taxes.
I keep hearing that the Republicans are willing to negotiate, but Obama and co keep only saying, more money and raise taxes. Hard to negotiate with someone that isn't willing to budge on their position. So, the Republicans are going to the press and saying that as long as this man is president, they can't negotiate.
Bambi's position is simple: what's mine is mine, now let's talk about what's yours.

#1  Are you telling me, mr president, that when one gets completely dependant upon government, government will use that leverage against the individual?

See, if this was some corporation setup to manage retirement accounts, and the treasurer was boozing it up with personal jet trips to Europe and the ceo was out golfing instead of running meetings, and the corporation ran out of money which was supposed to be dividend distribution to grandma, a person could file a lawsuit and appeal to the justice system where we could have due process by a neutral arbitrator.

Does this mean I can stop paying SS/MC/FICA taxes then? Prediction, they will talk grandma but show welfare peoples getting jumpy.

#2  Obama wants an excuse to shut down congress and rule the country as a dictator. Only his will is acceptable, everything else must defer. The man is a Chicago Mafioso intent on destroying this country and raising it back up as a Marxist/Socialist nation. Any one of THREE triggering events need to be established as keys to a second revolution:

- The shutdown or suspension of Congress.
- Declaration of Martial Law and confiscation of weapons.
- "Suspension" of the Constitution or any portion of it.

There is nothing in the Constitution about the President having such authority. If any ONE of these events happens, the US Military needs to step in and arrest the President for exceeding his authority and his failure to promote, protect, and defend the Constitution. Such acts would be well-justified.

#3  federal budgets:
2006: $2.66 trillion
2008: $2.9 trillion
2010: $3.552 trillion
2011: $3.82 trillion

Essentially, President Obama has permanently increased federal spending by $1 trillion per year and set to jump again in 2013. Meanwhile, as federal spending jumps, tax revenues are falling employment and wages fall.

#4  Bambi's position is simpler than that: I won, you lose.

#5  Not to worry, paychecks for the TSA gropers, Dept. of Ed. SWAT teams, and rabbit inspectors will continue as per usual.

#6  You can bet your ass the welfare checks will keep on rolling. Same with the funds to the EPA, Education, Labor, etc...

Socialism in action - those who haven't earned it and don't deserve it get it while those who worked all their lives and save for it are fuc*ed over again.

#7  Hold up the social security checks and he will most likely lose in 2012. There is a huge elderly voting population--and they do come out to vote.

#8  Maybe JohnQC, but the dhimocrats and the MSM will do everything they can to hang this on the Republicans and we all know how deft the Republicans are at defending themselves.

McConnell's fallback plan is interesting, as it gives Obama all the rope he needs to hang himself on this and during the election cycle.

The only thing is that better have a expiration date in hard stone or that could be a slippery slope for any president to bypass the purse strings of congress.

#9  The MSM will spin this as the Evil Republicans once again starving grandma and grandpa so that they will have to eat cheap cat food for the rest of their lives in a cold, dank, unheated, single-room apartment.

The Repubicans need to point out all the projects and expendatures which the Democrats are starving grandma and grandpa to protect. Things like the Abortion Mill Planned Parenthood and Acorn and other bullsh*t programs.

And yes, start calling the MSM and the rest liars to their face on national TV.

#10  Another thing the Republicans need to hit him with after this comment is, "So... you are saying that social security IS broke and is not sustainable without massive amounts of borrowing?"

#11  What a political Hack!

#12  Do Something!!! I dont care if you have to bleed money out of him just do it... You guys roughly to your GDP have about 5* per person money wise then the rest of the world, and yet... it looks pretty doomed?! Panic! Mass Hysteria! Run! Get some tents! AHHH!

#13  Why isn't ObamaCare on the table in these negotiations? [BTW, Obama lied about his mother's situation in order to garner support for ObamaCare. Her insurance did pay for her cancer treatments. She didn't have to fight with the insurance companies while she was sick.] He's a piece of work.

A"real solution" to U.S. fiscal problems isn't possible as long as President Barack Obama remains in office, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday,

Thank God. Hopefully the first hint of an emerging impeachment movement in Congress.

#15  My guess is Obama will threaten grandma and maybe delay a check to make the point but the Social Security checks will go out and the military or some other group that votes republican will be denied their checks instead.

#16  Perhaps more succintly ...

TOPIX/PEOPLE'S DAILY FORUM > OBAMA:NO SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS WIDOUT TAX INCREASES.

versus

* TOPIX > OBAMA: NO CHANGE[Cut] IN CIVILIAN AID [or Cooperat]TO PAKISTAN.

However, it appears the Pakis have other ideas.

#17  Somehow this calls to mind the scene in Blazing Saddles where the sheriff puts a gun to his own head and says "Stand back! Or the ${person of Afro-American extraction} gets it"
Posted by: SteveS || 07/12/2011 23:46 Comments || Top||

#18  As was said earlier, piss off the Social Security crowd and they are gonna be pissed. add military vets to that group and that makes a huge voting block he is just setting up to vote anybody but barry.

i kind of like McConnell's idea. brinksmanship and this POS will fold like a Charlie Brown kite in a kite eating tree windy day.
