Badie now under investigatation for murder at 6 October police station
[Egypt Independent] The South Giza prosecutor on Thursday ordered the detention of Mohammed Badie, leader of the Moslem Brüderbund group, for 15 days pending investigation into charges of killing a citizen and inciting the killing of coppers while attempting to break into a cop shoppe in 6 of October City on 16 August last year.

Investigators say that Badie provided 250 members of the group with automatic rifles to use if the police resisted them.

Prosecutors ordered that Badie return to his cell after two hours of investigation. He is also charged with leading a terrorist group that aims to disrupt the Constitution and prevent state institutions from exercising work, harming national unity and social peace, and supplying money, weapons and ammunition to carry out terrorist operations.

Badie denied the charges and claimed that was kidnapped and not tossed in the calaboose
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
. He refused the investigations on the pretext that the prosecution is an authority from what he called a military coup regime. He said that Mohammed Morsy is the legitimate president of the country, and that the whole world will bring to trial those who toppled him, once the leaders of the Brotherhood are released from prison to rule again.

He complained of his solitary confinement and asked to be detained with other inmates. He also asked to be allowed to walk and exercise.

The attack on the cop shoppe killed two conscripts and maimed four others.

Fourth suspect dies in Dar al-Salam police station
[Egypt Independent] Dar al-Salam prosecution resumed on Thursday investigations into the death of a fourth prisoner inside Dar al-Salam cop shoppe, who was held pending interrogations on robbery.

The incident, which took place on Thursday, is the fourth suspect to die in two months while in the cop shoppe awaiting investigations.

Prosecution Chief Hazem Lame'y ordered the body of the victim to be transfered to Zeinhom morgue to investigate the reaons behind his death and delegatied a doctor of forensic medicine to investigate the detention cell as well as another doctor to check if there was an epidemic inside the cell. He also ordered samples be taken from other detainees.

South Cairo Prosecution attorney general visited the detention center, which is comprised of eight cells, each containing up to 35 detainees, though they should not contain more than 16. Inspection showed damage in fans and that some suspects had sentences, while others have been kept for four months without being transferred to prisons.

Investigations also showed that the deaths had chronic diseases like diabetes and heart diseases and that their health status are affected by the detention place. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
when asked about the reason behind not transferring the prisoners to a better-equipped prison, the coppers said they did not find place there.

The first two cases died in detention in January, while the third case died two days ago. Report by the forensic doctor who inspected the detention cell showed that Dar al-Salam cop shoppe's eight detention cells should only hold 16 suspects, however, they were holding from 32 to 35 suspects all crammed inside. The report also pointed to bad ventilation in the cells, which harm suspects' health.

Egypt Independent spoke to Hossam Meneai, the filmmaker who was taken into custody from his home by security services in late January with American translator Jeremy Hodge.

Meneai described similar conditions in the Dokki cop shoppe where he was held for 19 days. "Our bathroom was so full of cockroaches, you couldn't even see the color of the wall. I'm talking about thousands of them," he said.

The air of his small cell, he said, was humid and suffocating as he shared it with from 25 to 30 men and the cell only had two small windows, which did not let any air in as the fans were broken. Meneai says upon his release from the Dokki cop shoppe, he suffered from respiratory problems for weeks.

Tunisia security effort begins with mosques
[MAGHAREBIA] Tunisia is ramping up its fight against extremism by regaining control of mosques.

More than 1,000 mosques fell into the hands of Death Eaters after the Tunisian revolution, interior ministry front man Mohammed Ali Aroui told AFP on Wednesday (March 12th).

"They kicked out the imams appointed by the religious affairs ministry on the grounds that they were remnants of the former regime," Aroui noted.

Salafist imams are inciting violence against the security forces, he said.

"They also call for jihad in Syria and try to spread Death Eater ideas from abroad into Tunisian society," Aroui added.

As part of efforts to crack down on religious extremism, the ministry of religious affairs announced on Monday that it was going to fix the opening hours of mosques in Tunisia, for the first time in three years.

A day after the minister's decision, Tunisian security forces this week tossed in the calaboose
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
a salafist imam with a reputation for condoning terrorism.

Tunisian Salafist preacher Khamis Mejri was placed in pre-trial detention for "in light of his unauthorised activities in four mosques," said Mongi Boulares of the Bizerte prosecutors' office.

He was freed on bail Wednesday.

Other imams are being evaluated by the religious affairs ministry.

"The ministry will appoint new imams at mosques that are not under its control and will resort to force in the event that there is any opposition by those seizing places of worship," explained Abdessattar Badr of the religious affairs ministry.

"The government's decision to control mosques is a bold one and aims to implement what was agreed upon by politicians and the majority of parties during the national dialogue and is included in the roadmap that Mehdi Jomaa's government committed to implement," political activist Walid Ben Mahmoud said.

In February, Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou warned of the dangers posed by uncontrolled mosques, which affect the fight against terrorism.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia...
the religious affairs ministry announced that authorities would regain control of 10 to 15 mosques per week, until it recovers all of them within three months.

U.N. Panel Says Libya Arms Maybe Trafficked to Terrorists
Brilliant deduction, Holmes! How do you do it?
[An Nahar] Libya's anti-aircraft weapons have been trafficked to neighboring countries and risk landing in the hands of terrorists, a U.N.-commissioned report said on Thursday.

An independent panel monitoring U.N. sanctions on Libya said they are worried that some of Libya's arsenal of shoulder-launched anti-aircraft weapons have been trafficked to Chad, Mali, Tunisia, and Leb.

Illicit efforts have also been made to send the weapons to opposition groups in Syria, the panel wrote in their report to the world body.

"Over the last three years, Libya has become a primary source of illicit weapons," the report said.

The panel said thousands of the anti-missile weapons are held in arsenals controlled by an array of "non-state actors" with only tenuous, or even non-existent, links to Libyan national authorities.

Most the weapons were Soviet era anti-aircraft weapons dating back to the 1970s and 1980s and, despite their age, were still in serviceable condition, the report said.

It said there also have been efforts to export anti-missile weapons to the Central African Republic, where violence has left thousands dead and displaced around a quarter of the country's 4.6 million people.

Yemen Army, Separatists Swap Prisoners amid Truce
[An Nahar] Yemen's army and southern separatists exchanged prisoners and agreed a truce Thursday in the violence-ridden southern city of Daleh.

Local dignitaries handed over to a presidential envoy 30 soldiers captured by the Southern Movement, a military official told Agence La Belle France Presse.

He said that in return, the authorities freed 37 separatists.

"Both parties agreed to implement a truce and normalization measures" in Daleh, which has been paralyzed by three months of intermittent festivities.

Southern Movement members said the measures would include the dismantling of barricades put up by separatists and checkpoints installed by the military.

On March 6, Yemeni authorities postponed a visit by a U.N. humanitarian mission to the restive southern city, citing security concerns.

Daleh province is a stronghold of separatists demanding the secession of the formerly independent South Yemen, who have rejected plans announced last month for the current state to be replaced by a six-region federation.

#1  One person close to the issue told Fox News: "They should be doing an investigation to see what the chief of base in Benghazi and station chief in Tripoli did that night. If they did, they'd find out there were some major mistakes."

If you found out what they "did" you might also discover who told them to 'do' it. We certainly can't be having that, now can we ?

#2  "That decision [by the CIA IG to not investigate] was based on a determination that the concerns raised fell under the purview of the State Department's Accountability Review Board, and that a separate OIG action could unnecessarily disrupt the FBI's criminal investigation into the Benghazi attacks"

So they're still going with the line that it was Foggy Bottom's "underfunded project".

Military to fight terror within limits set by govt
[DAWN] The military command said on Wednesday the armed forces would fight terror within the limits set for them by the government, but stopped short of issuing an outright endorsement of the ongoing talks with the Taliban.

After a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the principal coordination forum of the armed forces, a front man said: "The meeting reaffirmed the resolve of armed forces to fight the menace of terrorism under a comprehensive strategy within the policy parameters set by the politicianship."

The meeting presided over by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Rashad Mahmood was attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, defence secretary and senior officers of the three services.

A common message from last week's meeting of the corps commanders and the JCSC meeting is that "armed forces are ready to take on the upcoming challenges being faced by the country".

A day earlier, the army chief met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
for giving the military's "institutional point of view on the dialogue process". According to a source, he conveyed to the premier the "red lines" for the dialogue process, which included respect for Constitution and expulsion of all foreign Death Eaters from tribal areas.

TTP negotiators in North Waziristan to meet Taliban shura
[DAWN] Members from the negotiating committee representing the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) in talks with the federal government on Thursday reached North Wazoo via special helicopter to meet with leaders from the Taliban shura, DawnNews reported.

The members who had left for the talks in North Waziristan were Maulana Yousuf Shah, who acts as contact person for the TTP, and Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
's Professor Ibrahim Khan.

Today's meeting is aimed at deciding a time and venue for the shura's talks with the new government committee which would leave for tribal region soon after the details become clear.

Speaking to media representatives before the TTP negotiators' departure from Islamabad, Shah said the nation would soon receive some good news on the talks' front.

Shah said members of both committees needed to adopt a cautious approach, adding that the venue of a meeting between government representatives and the Taliban shura had not yet been decided.

Shah said the second round of talks is the 'decision-making' phase.

Moreover, Rahimullah Yousufzai, a member of the former government committee, said the ceasefire called upon by the Taliban had led to a change in scenario.

Advisor to Prime Minister on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui said the two member Taliban nominated committee would give a report about its talks with the Taliban leadership after its return from Miranshah
... headquarters of al-Qaeda in Pakistain and likely location of Ayman al-Zawahiri. The Haqqani network has established a ministate in centered on the town with courts, tax offices and lots of madrassas...
within two days.

Talking to mediamen, he said the talks had entered a crucial stage and after the report from the Taliban committee, further decision would be taken on how to take forward the talks process.

Siddiqui said after the report it would be clear, whether Taliban would hold direct talks or they would continue with indirect talks.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Gaza strikes draw Abbas call for Israel to halt 'escalation'
[Pak Daily Times] Israel pounded nearly 30 targets in Gazoo overnight after hard boyz fired scores of rockets into the south, prompting Paleostinian leader the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
to demand Thursday that it halt its "escalation."

The rocket barrage, which was the heaviest since an eight-day conflict between Israel and Gazoo's Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, rulers in November 2012, sent thousands of Israelis fleeing for cover across the south on Wednesday afternoon. So far, there have been no reports of casualties on either side of the border.

And experts said Israel was not interested in a major confrontation with Gazoo's Hamas rulers. The latest tit-for-tat violence was sparked by an incident on Tuesday when hard boyz of the hardline Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
group fired a mortar round at troops allegedly trying to enter southern Gazoo, prompting an Israeli air strike which killed three of them. In retaliation, Islamic Jihad's armed wing, the Quds Brigades, fired scores of rockets over the border on Wednesday, with the group putting the number at 130.

Israel responded with air strikes on 29 targets across Gazoo, hitting bases used by Hamas as well as those of Islamic Jihad, which has so far claimed all of the rocket fire.

The army said more than 60 rockets had struck southern Israel, five of them hitting populated areas. Another three were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system.

"In response to the massive rocket attack that hit Israel earlier this evening, the Israel Air Force targeted 29 terror sites in the Gazoo Strip. Direct hits were confirmed," it said.

Security sources in Gazoo said there were no casualties in the air strikes as all the sites had been evacuated.

Early Thursday, hard boyz fired another five rockets but only one struck Israeli territory, the army said.

By daybreak all was quiet, an AFP correspondent on the Israeli side of the border reported. The air strikes, which began at around 2030 GMT on Wednesday, prompted a sharp rebuke from Abbas, who demanded Israel "put an end to its military escalation in the besieged Gazoo Strip," his front man Nabil Abu Rudeina said.

But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly hit back.

"Abbas didn't condemn the rocketing of our citizens, he condemned Israel for hitting three Death Eaters who fired mortars on us," Netanyahu said, referring to Tuesday's border incident.

"That's wrong," he said, his remarks quoted by front man Ofir Gendelman.

Earlier, Netanyahu warned that Israel would act "with great force" against those seeking to attack it.

"If there won't be quiet in the south, there will be noise in Gazoo," he remarked drily after a conference call with his defence chiefs in which he instructed them to do whatever necessary to restore calm.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Kerry Says Iran Faces 'Tough Decisions' at Nuclear Talks
[An Nahar] Iran has to take some "tough decisions" as world powers seek to hammer out a nuclear deal, U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
said Thursday with negotiations due to resume next week.

His comments came as he was grilled by U.S. politicians over the talks between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group, which are due to start up again in Vienna on Monday.

Under a six-month interim deal, Iran agreed to freeze its uranium enrichment program in return for sanctions relief worth some $6-7 billion, including the transfer of some $4.2 billion in frozen overseas funds.

Kerry insisted during a hearing of the Senate appropriations committee that Washington was testing whether the new Iranian leadership of President Hassan Rouhani was serious in reining in its nuclear program, which the West believes is a covert grab for an atomic bomb.

"We believe we're heading in the right direction. I can't tell you where it's going to finally land, we don't know," Kerry said of the negotiations due to last for the next six months towards a comprehensive deal.

"There's some very tough decisions the Iranians are going to have to make -- very tough -- in order to meet the international community's standard for certainty as to the peacefulness of this program."

But he hit back against criticism that Iran was now attracting cash-flow and business back to the country, and that the sanctions relief was being used to fund Hezbollah forces of Evil fighting in Syria.

The top U.S. diplomat said he had contacted his counterparts around the world amid reports of trade delegations going to Iran.

"We have made it crystal clear that Iran is not open for business. They have accepted that," Kerry said.

#1  Yeah, Touch decisions like: Should they laugh in Kerry's face or wait until he's out of earshot?

Kerry and Obama are so desperate for their 'Legacy' that they are willing to give away anything - including Israel's security to secure some sort of 'deal' or 'framework' - which the Iranians will promptly ignore.
