Illinois Fraternal Order of Police joins boycott of Tarantino films after remarks
[Alton Telegraph] SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has joined FOP lodges in Chicago, New York City and elsewhere in calling for a boycott of films directed or produced by Quentin Tarantino because of comments Tarantino made that police involved shootings are "murders."

"Mister Tarantino's comments are an insult to the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect each citizen, and even his own father claims Tarantino is 'dead wrong' to have made those remarks," ILFOP President Chris Southwood said. "The 32,000 members of the ILFOP, and our brothers and sisters in law enforcement across the nation, are owed a sincere apology. Until one is received, we urge all citizens to boycott Tarantino's films, many of which glorify the violence he claims to be against with his thoughtless, deliberately inflammatory, and 'dead wrong' comments."

The Fraternal Order of Police, founded in 1915, is the largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers in the United States. With a proud tradition of officers representing officers, the FOP is the most respected and most recognized police organization in the country. The Illinois FOP, chartered in 1963, is the second largest State Lodge, proudly representing more than 32,000 active duty and retired police officers -- more than 10 percent of all FOP members nationwide. Visit www.ilfop.org for more information.

Egypt's natural gas crisis will end this month: Sisi
[AlAhram] Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi promised on Sunday that the natural gas crisis facing the country will end this month, state owned MENA reported on Sunday.

"I promise all the investors that operate their factories with natural gas that they will not face any more shortages by the end of November," Sisi said in an educational conference organised by the Egyptian military in Cairo.

"We ended the power crisis in one year and a half, and we now have enough for investment and industrial activities, as we added six thousand megawatts to the national electricity network. By December 2016, we will be adding four thousand megawatts and another 10 thousand megawatts by May 2017," El-Sisi said.

"All these new projects will cost us EGP 150 billon," El-Sisi added.

The country's energy sector, that has been experiencing a crunch since the summer of 2008, took a blow following the 2011 uprising as arrears to foreign oil firms accumulated and production slowed.

‪The country garnered some $40 billion in energy deals during an economic development conference held in March in Sharm El-Sheikh as part of the government's plans to boost an economy battered by more than four years of political upheaval.

‪"Also, by the end of this month, the state will intervene to cut commodity prices appropriately. I'm fully aware how Egyptians are living and I'm taking into consideration the hike in prices of basic commodities," he said.

‪El-Sisi also said that the dollar crisis would not lead to rise in commodity prices.

Egypt is also facing a currency crisis due to what many economists consider to be an overvalued pound.

‪"The armed forces will also intervene and resolve the issue by releasing commodities that are reasonably priced," El-Sisi said.

Ukrainian forces are moving heavy weapons back into the line of contact, and have shelled some locations near Donetsk city, according to Russian language news account.

Ukrainian media says that rebel forces are hitting their troops' locations with heavy weapons as well.

According to data supplied by the Donetsk ministry of defense, on Friday Ukrainian forces hit rebel positions in parts of northern Donetsk including at the village of Zhabunki and at the Volvo Center in western Donetsk city using 82mm mortars.

On Sunday, Ukrainian forces hit rebel positions for more than 20 minutes in western Donetsk city including in Spartak, Peski, and the Kuibyshevsky and the Kirovsky districts. Weapons used included 82mm and 120mm mortars.

One unidentified civilian was reported wounded in the attack in western Donetsk city.

Ukrainian media said Sunday that rebel forces attacked the town of Peski on Friday killing two Ukrainian soldiers, according to data supplied by korrespondent.net.

According to tsensor.net, rebel forces hit Ukrainian positions in Peski Sunday using mortars, heavy machine gun fire and RPG fire.

Banned Weapons moving back

Rebel officials in Donetsk say the Ukrainian military are moving weapons back to the line of contact, according to information supplied on the Donetsk Ministry of Defense on Friday.

A total of 25 tanks have moved into the Mariupol defense zone, plus another 10 artillery pieces. Among the units moved into the area are the BM-21 rocket artillery platform. All weapons above 100mm should have been removed to a safe distance from the line of contact.

On Saturday, Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said that a total of 50 vehicles including tanks, self propelled artillery platforms and infantry fighting vehicles have been moved into the Gorlovka area of the line of contact.

Included in that count are 12 BM-21 rocket artillery platforms.

1 dead in North Carolina university shooting
One person was killed and another injured early Sunday in a shooting on the campus of Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, the university's website said.

The names of the victims have not been released, and the alleged gunman is still at large, local media reported. Campus police and local police could not immediately be reached for comment.

The campus was initially placed on lockdown, but that was later at least partially lifted.

"The campus community is advised to exercise caution while on campus today, and stay away from the restricted areas on campus," the university said.

This North Carolina shooting comes one day after gun violence in downtown Colorado Springs left four dead. A suspect killed three people before dying in an exchange of gunfire with police, authorities said.

The killings and the suspect's shootout with police in front of a Wendy's restaurant unfolded about a mile from the U.S. Olympic Training Center in the central Colorado town.

Matt Abshire, 21, told the Colorado Springs Gazette on Saturday that he looked out from his apartment and saw a man with a rifle shoot another person.

Iraq
Iraq combats cholera with massive vaccination campaign
[AlAhram] Iraq is carrying out a major vaccination campaign to combat a cholera outbreak that has infected more than 2,200 people, the health ministry said on Sunday.
The campaign, focused on vaccinating people displaced by conflict including the war with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, began Saturday, health minister Adeela Hammoud Hussein said in a statement.

The World Health Organisation shipped more than 500,000 doses of oral cholera vaccine to Iraq, enough to treat some 250,000 people.

According to the WHO, there have been more than 2,200 cases of cholera in the current outbreak.

In the Jamiyah area of western Baghdad at a camp made up of rows of white tents, a medical team in a small room administered doses of the vaccine to both adults and children.

They were then given cards with their names and the date of their vaccination, and told to return after two weeks.

Akram Meshal, a 25-year-old from the city of Ramadi, which was seized by the jihadist IS in May, came with his wife and two children to be vaccinated.

"I really wanted to be one of the first families to receive the vaccine, because I am afraid," Meshal said.

"I tremble when I hear of cholera, especially among the displaced," he said.

Iraqi authorities have blamed the cholera outbreak mostly on the poor quality of water caused by the low level of the Euphrates.

And the WHO has said that: "The provision of safe water, sanitation and personal hygiene will continue to be the critical cholera prevention and control measures."

After a short incubation period of two to five days, cholera causes severe diarrhoea, draining the body of its water.

The United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
says the number of people displaced by conflict in Iraq since the start of 2014 has topped 3.2 million.

#1  Vaccination? Cholera is a bacterial disease. The only possible way to get it is to drink water that humans have shit in. Cholera is highly susceptible to every every hygiene method known to man.

#2  From Wikipedia

Cholera vaccines are vaccines that are effective in preventing cholera.[1] They are about 85% effective during the first six months and 50–60% effective during the first year.[1][2][3] The effectiveness decreases to less than 50% after two years. When a significant portion of the population is immunized benefits from herd immunity may occur among those not immunized. The World Health Organization recommends their use in combination with other measures among those at high risk. Two doses or three doses of the oral form are typically recommended.[1] An injectable form is available in some, but not all, areas of the world.[2][1]

So the main purpose of a cholera vaccine is to prevent it spreading once it starts. It's not a permanent fix.

Iraq PM declares emergency in areas hit by heavy rain
[AlAhram] Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared an emergency in areas overwhelmed by heavy rain that has caused widespread flooding and multiple deaths, his office said Sunday.
Abadi ordered a "declaration of emergency in the areas affected by torrential rainwater that exceeded drainage capacity", his office said in a statement.

And he announced the "mobilisation" of ministries, provinces, security forces, civil defence and civilian volunteers for rescue efforts in Baghdad and other provinces.

Iraq was hit by multiple days of heavy rain that, when combined with the country's decrepit infrastructure, caused major flooding in Baghdad and other areas that resulted in deaths and health problems.

Many streets and houses were flooded with a combination of rainwater and sewage from the overwhelmed drainage system in Baghdad, the Arab world's second-largest city that is home to an estimated eight million people.

And some areas remain flooded even after several days of sunny weather.

The heavy rain also added to the misery of thousands of people who have been displaced by violence, with rivers of mud wrecking tent camps in which they now live.

More and possibly heavier rain is forecast in the coming days, and even putting the government and security forces on alert will not address the underlying problem of sewers that cannot handle the necessary volume of water, making more flooding likely.

Iraqis have suffered through years of abysmal public services, especially in terms of government-supplied electricity that cuts out for much of the day during the blistering summer.

They erupted into the streets to protest poor services and widespread corruption earlier this year, but while Abadi announced various reform measures, they have yet to effect real or lasting change.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF warns soldiers: Beware of Klingon recruitment
[Jerusalem Post] Channel 2 reported that the information security department, part of the IDF's intelligence force, issued a call to its officers and soldiers to beware of recruitment attempts by the CIA.

The advisory called on soldiers to "be aware and report any unusual incidences."

The warning was issued to all officers and soldiers of the IDF. Attached to the warning was an article from Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot chronicling a phenomenon circa 2012 in which post-army youngsters, upon arrival in the United States, were taken in for extensive questioning by American authorities in an attempt to recruit their services.

"Every security body fears having its confidential information leaked," an Israeli security source told Channel 2.

It remains unclear why the IDF chose to issue the warning now.
Unclear to some possibly. When friendly intelligence collaboration ends, other methods and sources become necessary. Yet another hallmark in a never ending saga of Obama regime insanity.

These are the Neurons that Make You Crave Booze
The more alcohol the lab mice consumed, the more excitable the D1 neurons became, eventually requiring less dopamine to fire. Thus, a vicious cycle is created - booze consumption makes a neuron more sensitive, which in turn increases the craving to drink.

After making this discovery, the researchers wanted to dig deeper and see what would happen in the brain if specific neurons were blocked. In this case, the mice were given a drug to partially block the D1 receptor, which significantly reduced the desire to drink.

"If we suppress this activity, we're able to suppress alcohol consumption," said Jun Wang, the study's lead author and assistant professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Texas A&M. "This is a major finding. Perhaps in the future, researchers can use these findings to develop a specific treatment targeting these neurons."

By better understanding the way addiction forms in the brain, researchers will have the potential to create more effective cures for it. "My ultimate goal is to understand how the addicted brain works," Wang says. "And once we do, one day, we'll be able to suppress the craving for another round of drinks and ultimately, stop the cycle of alcoholism."

US completes complex test of layered missile defense system
The US military on Sunday hailed the success of a complex $230 million test of the US missile defense system that it said showed the ability of the Aegis and THAAD weapons systems to identify and destroy ballistic and cruise missiles at once.

The test was conducted near Wake Island in the western Pacific Ocean around 11:05 p.m. EDT by the US Missile Defense Agency, US European Command, US Pacific Command, the Ballistic Missile Defense System Operational Test Agency and the Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense.

"This was a highly complex operational test of the BMDS which required all elements to work together in an integrated layered defense design to detect, track, discriminate, engage, and negate the ballistic missile threats," MDA said in a statement released late Sunday.

Riki Ellison, founder of the nonprofit Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance, said it was the first time the US military had proven the effectiveness of a layered defense.

"It's a huge success," Ellison said, adding the test would increase confidence in US plans to deploy a THAAD battery, or system, to Europe, and could help support a drive to send a THAAD system to South Korea.
The next president's response to Putin will be to reengage Missile defense in Poland.

Champ and regime defend BLM, attack FBI Chief over Ferguson Effect
[Breitbart] The Obama administration is attempting to publicly downplay a rift between President Obama and FBI Director James Comey over The Ferguson Effect; the issue of whether there's been an impact on violent crime due to the nearly constant criticism of the police led by the Black Lives Matter movement.

The back peddling comes on the heels of a volley of attacks on Comey that came from the media, former Attorney General Eric Holder, and President Obama himself. Obama and Comey had a closed door meeting on Thursday.

The Washington Post reported that "White House officials were privately irritated" about Comey's remarks in two recent speeches discussing a possible link between soaring violent crime rates and the deluge of activism against law enforcement.

The attacks on law enforcement have been spearheaded by the Black Lives Matter movement, the activist phenomenon that the president publicly recently claimed was not anti-police. The claim that the #BlackLivesMatter movement is not against law enforcement runs counter to the group's statements and actions, including taunting police after the murder of fellow officers, as well as their lionizing of convicted cop killer Assata Shakur, who is on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist List.
