Massive border crisis means Dem-led 'sanctuary cities' are finally paying the price

#2  As this irreversible demographic shift continues, we'll ALL be "Paying the Price."

Simply adding hot water to the tea pot will eventually result in only having hot water. Unless I am missing something, that appears to be the desired end state of our 'leadership' in Washington.

Please welcome our new low-end Walmart, Cosco, and Target consumers who travel via leather cadillacs (walking distance) or 'Green' public trans to shopping and gov't services.

The remaining elite, having already deposited their CHF converted wealth in Davos, will reside abroad or in walled communities with overhead surveillance and well armed contract security.

Perhaps you have visited such communities in your travels abroad. But you didn't have to read any of this at a public blog, you already knew the betrayal of society and culture that is taking place.

#7  #5 The LSDs have had the main metros locked down for decades. The recent arrivals are not occupation forces IMO - but will be used as shock troops that will be used to overwhelm the suburbs as cities make the claim they can't take any more. Once the 'burbs are hopelessly saddled, the cities will send in their own reps who have spent their entire lives "breaking down systemic racism" so as to put the final nail in the 'burb coffin. This establishes a 1st line defensive ring against their true enemy: "The Rurals".

Hiran gov bans vehicles delivering food to Shaboob territory

Update from Garowe Online at 6:30 p.m. ET:
Ali Jeyte Osman, the firebrand governor of the troubled Hiiraan region, has imposed sanctions on Al-Shabaab-controlled territories, with Somalia preparing to embark on the second phase of a crackdown against the militants who have been wreaking havoc in the Horn of Africa nation.

The governor targeted areas along the Shabelle River just between Beledweyne and Buulaburte in the Hiraan region. Al-Shabaab militants have been fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed federal government of Somalia for the last 16 years but they are yet to succeed due to a strong military presence.

In his statement on Sunday, Governor Jeyte who has often joined fighters in the battlefield, said vehicles carrying food or fuel will not be allowed to drive to Buulaburte or Beledweyne until normalcy has been restored in the region. This is the first time such an order is been issued by a senior government official.

He warned that government forces would confiscate any vehicle that violated the directive. The directive is meant to drastically reduce supplies to the Al-Shabaab militants who are reportedly holed up in interior parts of the country since the government started operations against the group.

"The army has orders to completely take over any vehicle caught carrying goods to the areas where the Shabaab are located, around the banks of the Shabelle River. Everyone should now protect their car," said Governor Ali Jeyte.

According to reports, the directive coincides with al-Shabab's presence in areas along the Shabelle River, including Booco, approximately 44 km from Beledweyne. However, it is not clear how the government will implement the directive given the dependency of civilians on the routes.

Governor Jeyte added that they have a farm in the Halgan district that cannot cultivate when the people of Shabab are cultivating the fields. Early this year, Jeyte was lauded for joining local troops and the Somali National Army in the fight against Al-Shabaab on various fronts, a rare exhibition by civil servants.

Sources recently revealed that the Al-Shabaab have started contributing millions of dollars with the aim of removing Jeyte from his seat and imposing a sympathizer according to former HirShabelle President Mohamed Abdi Waare, who has solidly supported initiatives to root out Al-Shabaab from the state.

How Int'l partners helped Somalia make gains against Al-Shabaab
A bit sparse on actual information, but we have a number for dead Shaboobs — assuming it’s not grossly exaggerated — and a target for the next stage of the proceedings.
[Garowe] President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud conceded that the gains in the war against al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
are attributed to the international community, which played a key role both militarily and financially, helping the Somali army to retake key areas.

A report released by the federal government of Somalia indicated that the SNA with the help of US Africa Command, the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] and local militia, managed to kill over 3,000 al-Shabaab faceless myrmidons during the first phase of operations against the group.

Hassan Sheikh says the support to the government of Somalia has also made it possible for the national army to make its own arrangements in pursuit of al-Shabaab whose traces are dominant in central and southern Somalia. The first phase focused on Galmadug and HirShabelle states.

Last month, U.S. Ambassador to Somalia Larry André praised the Somali government's military operations against al-Shabaab, stating that the Somali-led offensives had restored Somalia's illusory sovereignty to one-third of the territory formerly misruled by the bad boy group.

Previously, Hassan Sheikh said, the international community's support was minimal because of the government's non-committal attitude in the fight against al-Shabaab. The international community started pumping resources when the government activated the first phase of operations against the group.

Already, the President reached out to Kenya, Djibouti and Æthiopia for support in the second phase of operations against al-Shabaab, with the three countries pledging to send additional troops. The troops will be serving under the command of the Somali National Army for a period of three months, he said.

The next phase will also focus on Jubaland and Southwest states according to President Hassan Sheikh, and the proximity of the states to Æthiopia and Kenya will even make the war more intense. al-Shabaab was neutralized from the capital, Mogadishu resolving to return to villages.

Besides the military operations, the government is also targeting al-Shabaab's revenue sources which have helped the group to support her operations. Already, a number of bank accounts and mobile money transfer firms linked to the group have been closed down by the government of Somalia.

Further, the government has also reverted to ideological tactics which include the involvement of the holy mans in denouncing violent mostly peaceful extremism. The government of Somalia has expressed optimism that by the end of this year, the group would have lost significant territories.

Arabia
Thousands of Afghans escaped the Taliban with the help of private veteran groups. Today, many remain in limbo, held in a compound in the UAE
[CNN] About 2,100 Afghan refugees remain held in a sprawling compound in the United Arab Emirates more than 18 months after they were evacuated from Afghanistan largely by private groups working with the State Department.

They are what’s left of as many as 20,000 Afghans who were hastily relocated to the camp during the chaotic weeks surrounding the US withdrawal after Kabul fell to the Taliban in August 2021. Several thousand were brought there by the State Department directly from Kabul and have since been relocated to the US or Canada.

But thousands more, including those still stuck in the UAE, were evacuated weeks later, and sometimes from hundreds of miles away from Kabul, by private groups working to get as many out of Afghanistan as possible.

The Grand Turk
Turkish opposition responds to threats from government ally
Note to all Black Bloc-ers: This is what a real Resistance looks like.
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish opposition leaders on Saturday snapped back at threats of life imprisonment and violence from an ultranationalist ally of the government, a week ahead of the widely anticipated elections.

Speaking to a crowd during an election rally in the northwestern province of Yalova, Devlet Bahceli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and ally to President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
, slammed the opposition parties as "traitors" for voting against a bill approving the Ottoman Turkish army’s cross border operations.

"These traitors will either get an aggravated life sentence or a bullet in their body," Bahceli warned, referring to the opposition parties.

In October 2022, the Ottoman Turkish opposition voted against a bill allowing the Ottoman Turkish army to carry out cross-border military operations, mainly in Syria and Iraq.

Ottoman Turkish presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu responded to Bahceli’s comments, saying that a "mafia" has come together and they are threatening The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
In support of his ally in the Nation Alliance, Ahmet Davutoglu leader of the Future Party called the statements by Bahceli as being similar to the events 1961 when a presidential candidate was also threatened ahead of elections, resulting in him withdrawing from the race.

"After failing to convince the nation and not getting a result from accusations against us, Bahceli and Erdogan now resort to threats as their final option," Davutoglu said.

Turkey is set to hold a historic election next Sunday to elect a new parliament and a president for the country. Kilicdaroglu is hailed as the opposition’s candidate to unseat the incumbent president Erdogan.

The elections come at a time when Erdogan’s popularity is at its lowest in 20 years, according to polls. Latest surveys show that Kilicdaroglu is a few points ahead of Erdogan but still short of winning the elections in the first round.

According to Ottoman Turkish electoral law, if no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the popular vote in the election, then the top two candidates face off in a second round which would take place on May 28.

On Saturday, imprisoned Kurdish leader Selahattin Demirtas urged Turkey’s youth to actively campaign and encourage people in person to vote in the elections, "to finish it in the first round". Demirtas previously declared that he will be voting for Kilicdaroglu.

Iraq
Iraq sentences killer of security expert Husham al-Hashimi to death, next step is appeals court
[Rudaw] An Iraqi court in Baghdad on Sunday sentenced the convicted killer of Iraqi security expert Husham al-Hashimi to death three years after his liquidation which sparked public outrage at the time.

Hashimi was bumped off outside his house in east Baghdad’s Zayuna neighborhood in July 2020 by masked assailants. His liquidation was widely condemned by the Iraqi public and the international community.

"The Rusafa Criminal Court issued the death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
against the criminal (Ahmad Hamdawi Awaid) for the crime of killing the security expert (Husham al-Hashimi)," Iraq’s judiciary announced.

Born in Baghdad in 1973, Hashimi was a leading security expert, member of the Iraq Advisory Council, and former advisor to the US-led coalition to defeat the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS). He also focused on the role of Shiite militias in Iraq, and was a strong, vocal supporter of the Tishreen protest movement that swept across Baghdad and Iraq’s southern provinces in October 2019.

Before his liquidation, Hashimi received death threats from hardline factions of the pro-Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic), his associates said at the time.

The main suspect in the trial, a policeman, was arrested in July 2021 and confessed to carrying out the liquidation. The conviction on Sunday came after eight court sessions were previously held on the crime since September 2021.

Former Iraqi prime minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi - a close friend of Hashimi - said following his liquidation that "Iraq will not sleep until the murderers are brought to justice for the crimes they committed." However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
many more have been slain since then, with similar promises made to reveal their killers.

Iraqi activists are frequently targeted by militias and gangs in the country.

In its annual World Report 2022, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said "the Iraqi government failed in 2021 to deliver on promises to hold to account those responsible for the abuse of protestors, activists, journalists."
In a long-awaited verdict, the Iraqi judiciary issued a death penalty
against the convicted murderer of prominent security expert Hisham al-Hashimi on Sunday, following ten consecutive postponements of the sentencing session.

According to a source from the Supreme Judicial Council, speaking to Shafaq News Agency, al-Rusafa Criminal Court handed down the death penalty by hanging to the individual found guilty of al-Hashimi's killing.

Al-Hashimi was assassinated on July 6, 2020, in front of his residence in the Zayouna district of the capital, Baghdad. He was shot by individuals riding a cycle of violence.

In July 2021, former Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi announced the arrest of al-Hashimi's killers. Subsequently, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
aired confessions from the accused, a 36-year-old first lieutenant officer.

Hisham al-Hashimi's family fears overturning death verdict for killer, says masterminds still at large

[Shafaq News] An Iraqi police officer was convicted and sentenced to death Sunday in the killing of a prominent security analyst and frequent critic of powerful militias. The ruling came nearly three years after the analyst was bumped off outside his Baghdad home following militia threats.

The defendant, Ahmed Hamdawi al-Kinani, was convicted on a terrorism charge and sentenced to death by a criminal court, according to Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council. The case was referred to an appeals court. A video of his purported confession was released after his arrest two years ago.

Al-Hashimi, 47, was bumped off in July 2020 in front of his home in Baghdad by two attackers on a cycle of violence after receiving threats from Iran-backed militias. His killing was captured on a surveillance camera. The images stoked a climate of fear among activists who have accused the government of failing to rein in the powerful gangs.

Al-Hashimi had become well-known as an expert on the Islamic State group and advised the U.S.-led coalition during its years-long battle against the Death Eaters.

Following the territorial defeat of IS in December 2017, he became an outspoken critic of the growing influence of Iran-backed militias that helped to defeat IS. al-Hashimi reportedly received multiple threats from such groups in the period before his death.

Al-Kinani identified himself as a police officer with the rank of first lieutenant in the video aired on state media in 2021. Shortly after his arrest, two security officials speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that he was connected to a militia but did not specify which one.

His purported confession did not acknowledge any links to gangs.

Successive governments have been criticized for allowing militias to operate with impunity. Critics say many government and security officials have ties to such militias.

The killings of activists and other critical voices became more frequent in Iraq during a crackdown on a mass protest movement that erupted in 2019, with many blaming Iran-backed militias.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan threatens with military operation in Syria over drug smuggling
[NPASyria] On Friday evening, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi threatens with a military operation inside Syria in case "effective measures" to curb drug smuggling were not taken by the latter.

In an interview with the American news channel CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
, Safadi said that many people have suffered consequences due to the Syrian crisis, including Jordan, and will make sure to do whatever it takes to mitigate any threat to Jordan’s security.

Safadi added, "We are not taking the threat of drug smuggling lightly."

He stressed, "If we do not see effective measures to curb that threat, we will do what it takes to counter that threat, including taking military action inside Syria."

He noted that drug smuggling threatens not only Jordan, "but through Jordan to the Gulf countries, other Arab countries and the world."

During previous years, many countries around the world confiscated hundreds of drugs’ shipping coming from the Syrian government-held areas.

Continuous smuggling of narcotics into Jordanian territory have been launched, as the Jordanian army periodically announces the seizure of quantities of captagon pills and other drugs.

Several international reports, headed by the US Treasury, accuse the Syrian government and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia of running large drug trafficking networks in this border area, as well as other Syrian regions.

For years, and probably even to this day, the Assad family (and that means the family itself) financed its operation by drug-running. Israel razes EU-funded Palestinian school near Bethlehem
[IsraelTimes] Demolition, which follows a court ruling from March, prompts protests from the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and Paleostinian Authority.

Israeli authorities on Sunday demolished a building that housed a European Union-funded Paleostinian school near Bethlehem, prompting protests by the Paleostinian Authority and European Union.

Israeli Civil Administration engineers razed the structure, which Paleostinians constructed in 2017 without a permit in the Herodium national park in the West Bank.

The demolition followed a District Court ruling from March, in which the structure was defined as a safety hazard at risk of imminent collapse.

Regavim, a nonprofit organization that says it is "dedicated to the protection of Israel’s national lands and resources," and has conducted a five-year legal fight to bring about the demolition of the building, said in a statement that it was "one of 100 illegal schools throughout Area C of the West Bank that are used cynically to cement the Paleostinian hold on open areas."

Area C makes up some 60 percent of the West Bank and is fully under Israeli security and administrative control. Israel rarely approves Paleostinian construction in Area C, with the overwhelming majority of requests being denied. This has resulted in rampant illegal building, which is in turn often demolished by Israel.

On social networks, the Office of the EU Representative in the West Bank and Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip protested the demolition near the village of Jubbet Ad Dhib, which the EU said it had funded.

"Shocked by the news about the demolition of the EU-funded Jab Zeeb school by the Israeli authorities. Over 60 Paleostinian children will be affected by this," an EU spokesperson wrote in a statement posted on Facebook.

"Demolition is illegal under international law, and children’s right to education must be respected. Israel must stop all demolition and evacuation operations that will only further the suffering of the Paleostinian population and escalate an already tense environment," the statement read.
Demolitions of unapproved structures is part of the job of governments. I’d bet large pots of money that the EU activists running this program did not bother to get Israeli approval at any stage of the process.
The Paleostinian Education Ministry called the demolition "a heinous crime," adding: "These practices fall within the framework of the occupying regime’s ongoing crimes against the Paleostinian educational sector, targeting students, teachers and educational institutions in complete disregard of international conventions and principles."

Shlomo Ne’eman, head of the Yesha Council umbrella organization representing local authorities in West Bank settlements, said in a statement: "We welcome the enforcement but regret the absurd reality in which the court, through a petition of civil society organizations, needs to instruct the state and its enforcement mechanisms to fulfill their duties. This is a tiny part of our unwavering struggle for our national lands. Much work remains to be done."

[IsraelTimes] Shin Bet says Imad al-Adwan smuggled contraband, including firearms, 12 times since February 2022 using his diplomatic passport in exchange for ’large sums of money’

A Jordanian parliamentarian arrested by Israeli authorities last month for attempting to smuggle over 200 firearms into the West Bank was released on Sunday to face trial back home.

The Shin Bet security agency said MP Imad al-Adwan, detained at the Allenby Bridge border crossing on April 22, was handed over to Jordanian authorities for "further investigation and prosecution."

Al-Adwan was caught with 194 handguns and 12 assault rifles at the Allenby crossing as he was heading into the West Bank by car.

According to the Shin Bet investigation, al-Adwan had smuggled various types of contraband into the West Bank 12 times starting in February 2022. The illegal goods included birds, electronic cigarettes, and gold.

This year, al-Adwan smuggled firearms into Israel several times before being caught in April, the Shin Bet said.

The investigation found that al-Adwan carried out the smuggling using his diplomatic passport, and was receiving "large sums of money." His motives were financial, and not related to Paleostinian nationalism, according to the investigation.

Jordanian authorities detained a number of suspects in Jordan who were involved in the smuggling, the Shin Bet said.

Al-Adwan was released to Jordanian authorities on Sunday despite Israel and Jordan not having an extradition agreement. His parliamentary immunity was lifted, according to Jordanian media, enabling him to stand trial.

Israel tried to avoid placing responsibility for the alleged smuggling attempt directly on Amman. "I don’t think that the episode is connected to Jordan in general, but to an irresponsible criminal act," said Foreign Minister Eli Cohen last month in an interview with the Ynet news outlet. "I don’t want to assign guilt to the entire government or the entire parliament."

A surge of violence and terror attacks has wracked the West Bank in recent months, aided by a flood of illegal weapons, including many guns smuggled from Jordan.

The incident came amid already elevated tensions between Amman and Jerusalem, particularly over the Temple Mount.

According to the Kan public broadcaster, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi refused to answer calls from his counterpart Cohen after news of the incident broke.

In April, an unnamed senior Israeli official told the Walla news site that Safadi’s recent conduct and statements had exacerbated the crisis in bilateral ties, adding that he "acted like a Jordanian [Itamar] Ben Gvir" — a reference to the far-right Israeli national security minister, whose conduct and policies have been widely viewed as contributing to growing friction with the US and other countries.

New Zealand repatriates ISIS child from AANES regions
[NPASyria] The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Sunday handing over one child of ISIS families to a delegation from New Zealand on May 4.
Just the one? Wow.
The delegation, headed by James Monroe, the Special Consular Envoy in the Government of New Zealand, visited the headquarter of the Foreign Relations Department of the AANES.

The AANES stated that they handed over the child, who has New Zealand nationality, according to an official repatriation document signed by the two parties.

The New Zealand official said his country acknowledged the sacrifices of the AANES in the fight against ISIS, supporting and rehabilitating affected people, and providing humanitarian care in camps.

Robel Baho, Deputy Co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department, noted the continuation of the Ottoman Turkish drone attacks against the regions of north Syria, the civilian population, and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The official said that AANES continues to cooperate with states that have nationals present in north Syria to facilitate their repatriation.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.

Roj Camp, one of several detention camps in northeast Syria, holds about 727 families, numbering 2.310 individuals including 1.582 children. Residents of the camp are family members of ISIS who joined its ranks during era of the ISIS so-called Islamic Caliphate in 2014.

IRGC evacuates headquarters in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
[NPASyria] On Saturday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) evacuated three of its headquarters for unknown reasons in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Maybe they saw some notices dropped by The Juice?
A military source from the IRGC said that the group evacuated the logistics building near Ain Ali shrine on the outskirts of al-Mayadin desert, which contained logistical materials and ammunition, and transported them towards the Syrian-Iraqi border.

The IRGC transferred its fighters stationed in al-Fayhaa building in the center of the town, deployed them to the nearby points, and removed its banners from the building, the source told North Press.

It also evacuated a headquarters for most of its members of Iraqi nationality on the outskirts of the town of al-Mayadin, and transferred them to the Iranian cultural center in the town of Abu Kamal, according to the source.

Since the beginning of this year, the headquarters of the IRGC and the pro-Iranian militias have been on great alert, after many of their sites were targeted by warplanes and drones.

#1  Military.com from AP: For years, the U.S. and its coalition allies battled IS in Iraq and Syria, partnering with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces. By 2019, the U.S. declared the Islamic State caliphate destroyed, but remnants of the group remain a threat, including about 10,000 fighters held in detention facilities in Syria and tens of thousands of their family members living in refugee camps.
U.S. forces advise and assist the SDF, including in securing the detention facilities, and they also conduct counterterror missions against the Islamic State group and other al-Qaida-affiliated militants, and carry out strikes on Iran-backed militias that have attacked U.S. facilities.

Head of Iran’s sports federation resigns after outcry over women running unveiled
[IsraelTimes] State news agency says Hashem Siami quit ’due to the controversies that arose’ after photographs circulated of women competing without a hijab at event in Shiraz.

The head of Iran’s athletics federation resigned Sunday over a sporting event featuring women without the mandatory headscarf, state media reported, as the Islamic Theocratic Republic toughens enforcement of hijab rules.

"Hashem Siami resigned from his post due to the controversies that arose from the endurance [running] race organized in Shiraz" in Iran’s south, official news agency IRNA said.

According to images from Friday’s competition published by Iranian media, some women were running without headscarves, made compulsory shortly after the Islamic revolution of 1979.

Local organizers of the public event have also been summoned to provide "explanations," the provincial prosecutor said Sunday in a statement.

Siami told IRNA he was not involved in organizing the competition, and the unveiled athletes were not part of the national federation.

A new police program came into force last month aimed at stricter enforcement of hijab-wearing in public.

defying the dress code has increased since a wave of protests after the September 16 death in jug of Kurdish-Iranian Mahsa Amini, 22, for allegedly breaching it.

Authorities in Tehran last week launched proceedings against at least four actors who had appeared in public without headscarfs, local media said.

More than 150 commercial establishments nationwide were closed after employees had allegedly violated the dress code, authorities said in mid-April.

Police in Shiraz arrested in June girls who removed their veils at a skateboarding event, as well as the organizers.
