Afghanistan
MoD: Enemy Plotted Bloodiest Attacks in the Past Five Months
[Tolo News] Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 2,000 Afghan National Security (ANSF) soldiers, the Minister of Defense, Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, discussed the increasing enemy attacks and urged the presidential candidates to reach a political agreement. Mohammadi asserted that murderous Moslem attacks have dramatically increased in the past five months.

"They [the murderous Moslems] even wanted to take over parts of our administration and provinces," he stressed. "We want the election deadlock to end soon. We ask the candidates to put an end to the election crisis. , and want both candidates to end the election crisis as soon as possible, and reach a political agreement. Meanwhile,
...back at the mall, Clarissa spent the day shopping for new underwear. Tonight was going to be a special occasion...
the Afghan National Army (ANA) will protect the nation."

Military analysts, too, have emphasized that further prolongation of the election process will negatively impact the ANSF training process.

"With the prolongation of the election process, many projects have been put on hold. The prolongation has affected the morale and the structure of the ANSF," military analyst, Jawed Kohistani, said.

The newly graduated soldiers will soon be deployed to insecure areas of the country.

The ANSF were able to maintain security during the first and second rounds of the elections; but they are now facing severe threats as bully boyz use the instability from the dragging election process to accelerate their activities.

Afghan political crisis deepens as Abdullah claims victory ahead of vote audit results
[Pak Daily Times] The ongoing Afghan election crisis could further deepen as presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
on Monday claimed victory in the prolonged election process even before the independent election commission has announced the official result of the vote audit.

Abdullah also suspended talks on formation of national unity government which he and Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, his main contender in the electoral review process, have earlier agreed.

"The fraud committed in the election process has caused a deadlock. I would continue to defend the right of the people and the votes that they cast and would never accept the fraud-marred election results," Abdullah said in a public meeting attended by hundreds of his supporters here. Analysts here said that Abdullah's announcement could trigger another round of political instability in the strife-torn country.

"Of course, rejecting the election results by any candidate would add to the election crisis," a political analyst and journalist Khan Mohammad Daneshjo told Xinhua. The auditing and recounting process of the votes have been monitored by national and international observers, including those from the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
and European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, the analyst said, adding there is no reason for the candidates to dispute the election results.

Afghanistan presidential election was held on April 5 and since none of the eight contenders succeeded to secure more than 50 percent of the votes, two frontrunners Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai went for runoff on June 14. Abdullah, who bagged majority of the votes in the first round of the elections and stood second in the runoff, had accused the election commission of committing fraud in favor of Ghani Ahmadzai and demanded a vote audit.

The recounting and auditing of votes were completed on Thursday and chairman election commission Ahmad Yusuf Nuristani said Monday that the election results would be announced soon irrespective of whether there is an agreement or not between the two candidates on a national unity government.

To solve the election deadlock, U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry

Morocco debates parliament ulema quota
[MAGHAREBIA] Morocco's Renaissance and Virtue Party just repeated its call for a quota of seats in parliament to be allocated to Learned Elders of Islam.

Since the beginning of September, the party's leaders have said several times that they want clergymen to be represented in the legislature.

The party's deputy secretary-general, Abou Hafs Rafiki, said on September 6th that Learned Elders of Islam must participate in public affairs and the development of the country through a quota system so that they can be represented alongside other categories, such as overseas Moroccans and women.

Boko Haram: Monarch warns FG against ceding any part of Nigerian territory to insurgents
[DAILYPOST.NG] Apparently worried by the alleged capture of some communities in the northern part of the country by Islamic religious group, Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, the traditional regent of Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Okey--Joe Onuakalusi, Wednesday, cautioned the Federal government against ceding any part of the nation to the sect.

The monarch recalled that the sect, which had since been declared a terror organization because of the havoc it wreaked on innocent people of the country, was now talking of takin over some parts of northern Nigeria as its own territory.

He said, "The illusory sovereignty of the Nigerian Nation can neither be negotiated with a terrorist group that has no regard for sanctity of human life nor entrust to rascals who neither have respect nor regard for life.

"Nobody should expect a compromise of an inch of the territorial integrity of the nation".

He blamed some Moslem leaders and their politicians for not playing their role as respected faithful.

"Sadly, let us examine this unfortunate scenario in three different fronts, firstly it is an indictment on the leadership and ideological failure in the Moslem world, especially in Nigeria.

"Often times, we are being told that Islam is a religion of peace, but a group of the same adherent takes gun without any provocation, to kill and slaughter their prospective converts in the name of the same religion and their leaders turn blind eyes and remain indifferent in the face of cruelty", he added.

Boko Haram Seek to Imitate 'Inspirational' Islamic State and Establish a African Caliphate
[NEWSWEEK] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, the Nigerian terrorist group who sprang to international notoriety after kidnapping 200 schoolgirls in April this year, have seized an area of land the size of Ireland, and are now taking inspiration from Islamic State, who have swept across the Middle East, capturing large parts of Iraq and Syria, say experts.

In a July video, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau paid tribute to Islamic State leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, who in late June declared himself "the caliph" and "leader of Moslems everywhere". A month later, Shekau declared that he would rule the land annexed by Boko Haram as a caliphate.

Now, emboldened by the success of Isis, experts say Boko Haram is beginning to operate like a conventional army in north-eastern Nigeria. The group has recently moved from guerilla tactics - boom-mobiles and kidnappings - towards a policy of taking and holding tracts of land.

In the old days, they got around this one Allah = one Caliph problem by calling themselves "Sultan". al Queda avoided the schismatic potential of declaring the caliphate by having all their franchisers declare "emirates" and avoiding the subject of the caliphate entirely. Saudi Arabia to host Syria militants training: unnamed US official

The United States and Saudi Arabia have been strong supporters of the militancy in the region through funding and supporting bully boy groups.

President Barack Obama is asking Congress for authorization to arm and train the foreign-backed Syrian bully boys.

The use of Syrian murderous Moslems is a key component of Obama's strategy because the US has pursued a policy of hostility in dealing with the Syrian government.

The FSA murderous Moslems are essentially in a two-front conflict, fighting both ISIL holy warriors and the Syrian Army forces.

Yemen to name new PM in potential deal with Huthis
[ARABNEWS] Yemen's president has offered to appoint a new prime minister within 48 hours under a potential deal with Iranian catspaws in return for ending their protests, sources close to the presidency said Thursday.

A front man for the rebels, whose protests have raised fears of worsening unrest in the Arabian Peninsula country, said they were considering the offer.

"An accord was reached... late on Wednesday" to end the country's latest political impasse, by which "a new prime minister will be named within 48 hours" and fuel prices will be further cut, a presidency source told AFP.

Another presidency source said it was an "understanding over an agreement that will be finalized by (UN envoy Jamal) Benomar," who arrived in the capital Sanaa early on Thursday.

GCC envoy Saleh Al-Qunayeer had also arrived in the country "to back efforts aimed at easing tensions," a GCC statement said.

President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi promised in an initiative rejected by the Houthis earlier this month to name a new prime minister.

The rebels had been demanding that Hadi consult them before naming a new prime minister. It was unclear if this has been agreed in the overnight accord.

Under the draft deal, the rebels are to "dismantle their protest camps and pull their gunnies" from Sanaa and its surroundings, one of the presidency sources added.

Alliance says will curb flow of funds, fighters to Islamic State
[ARABNEWS] The United States and several Arab allies said on Thursday they had agreed to join a coordinated military campaign against Islamic State turbans who have seized parts of Iraq and Syria to try to create a jihadist hub at the heart of the Arab world.

In a joint communique after a day of talks in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. , the United States, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Leb and six Gulf Arab states said participating states also agreed to stop the flow of funds and fighters to Islamic State and help rebuild communities "brutalized" by the group.

labelled as laughable Russian claims that a US campaign against the Islamic State is unilateral and violates international law.

On Wednesday, US President Barack Obama
I am not a dictator!...
announced extended bombing raids against Islamic State targets in Iraq and authorized them in Syria for the first time. He said the United States would work with regional allies to tackle the threat.

"I must say if it weren't so serious what's happening in Ukraine one might almost laugh at the idea of Russia raising the issue of international law or any question of the UN," Kerry told news hounds.

"I am really rather surprised that Russia would dare to assert any notion of international law after what has happened in Crimea and eastern Ukraine," Kerry added.

Russia said Thursday that unilateral US Arclight airstrikes on jihadists in Syria would be a crude violation of international law, a day after President Barack Obama said such action was possible.

"In the absence of an appropriate decision of the UN Security Council, such a step would become an act of aggression, a crude violation of the norms of international law," said Alexander Lukashevich, a front man for the Russian foreign ministry.

Lukashevich said Moscow welcomed the fact that Washington had acknowledged the threat from the radical Islamists.

"Better late than never, as they say," he said.

But he accused the United States of "double standards" over its support for the opposition in Syria.

Agencies asked to unearth source of militant financing
[Dhaka Tribune] The government has asked all its law enforcement agencies and Bangladesh Bank to dig up the sources of the financing for the Islamist Lion of Islam outfits in the country.

The directive was given at the first meeting of the task force headed by Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu.

A 17-member task force was constituted on August 20 this year to strengthen coordination between different agencies working to trace the source of Lion of Islam funding.

Turkey Backs Off Promise To Fight IS, Official Says
[IsraelTimes] Turkey will refuse to allow a US-led coalition to attack jihadists in neighboring Iraq and Syria from its air bases, nor will it take part in combat operations against Lion of Islams, a government official told AFP Thursday.

"Turkey will not be involved in any armed operation but will entirely concentrate on humanitarian operations," the official said on condition of anonymity.

The decision echoes the country's refusal to allow the US to station 60,000 troops in Turkey in 2003 to invade Iraq from the north, which triggered a crisis between the two allies.

Ankara then also refused Washington permission to use its air bases to attack Saddam Hussein's regime.

"Our hands and arms are tied because of the hostages," the official told AFP.

Turkey can open Incirlik Air Base in the south for logistical and humanitarian operations in any US-led operation, according to the official who stressed that the base would not be used for lethal air strikes.

New Al-Qaeda South Asia arm claims Karachi attack
[Al Ahram] Al-Qaeda's new South Asia branch Thursday grabbed credit for a weekend raid on a Bloody Karachi

Currently residing in the North Wazoo area. That is not a horn growing from the middle of his forehead, but a prayer bump, attesting to how devout he is...
last week.

The claims, made on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York, will likely add to concerns about turban infiltration of the Pak military's ranks after the Taliban, who also claimed to be behind the attack, said they received inside help.

Defence minister Khawaja Asif had voiced concerns when addressing parliament on Wednesday, saying: "We cannot rule out the inside help in this attack because without it the miscreants could not breach security."

Al-Qaeda in South Asia was launched last week in what experts see as a bid to remain relevant in the face of rising competition by the Islamic State (IS).

"The operation near Karachi shore was an attack by Al-Qaeda in the Subcontinent," an Urdu-language statement from the group sent to AFP said.

It claimed that the target of the raid was a "US supply ship" and said the dead attackers included former Pakistain navy officers.

It was not immediately possible to confirm whether a US ship was present at the port. Militant groups in the region often exaggerate claims about attacks.

Commodore Nadeem Bukhari, a front man for the Pakistain navy said an investigation into the attack was under way.

"It cannot be ruled out but it is still premature to say that it was an inside work," he told AFP.

Al-Qaeda said the officers quit their jobs and joined the bully boyz after growing becoming radicalised.

Al-Qaeda was previously linked to a 2011 raid on another Karachi naval base that lasted 17 hours resulting in the deaths of 10 personnel and destruction of two US-made spy planes.

The new hardline Jamat-ul-Ahrar faction of the Pak Taliban sent a "greetings card" to journalists on Thursday gloating over the 9/11 attacks and hailing former Al-Qaeda chief the late Osama bin Laden

Siraj says, Jirga can't 'mediate' like a court
[Pak Daily Times] Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
(JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq
...current head of the Pak Jamaat-e-Islami. Siraj was born in 1962 and entered politics shortly after that...
has said that there was consensus on many things between the government and the protesters but the committee engaged in 'mediation' wants to give more time to both to resolve the political crisis as there were some problems as well.

"We don't want the protesters to go empty handed", he said. Addressing a presser along with Pakistain People's Party's (PPP) Senator Rehman Malik
Pak politician, Interior Minister under the Gilani government. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Nawaz Sharif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men. He had to give up the interior ministry job because he held dual Brit citizenship.
here on Thursday after the meeting of Opposition Committee at the latter's house, Sirajul Haq said that the committee wanted to give a respectable exit to government and protesters both.

"Jirga cannot mediate like a court, it has been decided during the meeting at Rehman Malik's residence to give both sides some more time", he told. Sirajul Haq said that a document had been prepared by the 'Jirga' and would share it with all three parties to this conflict i.e. government, Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....

He said that the recommendations could not be made public at the moment and the committee wanted to give some more time to the protesters and government to decide about the recommendations. Speaking on this occasion to the journalists, Senator Rehman Malik said that all the recommendations made by the committee were in line with the constitution and the aspirations of the parliamentarians.

Rehman said that there was a way forward for all three sides in this document.

PAT chief believes his struggle is in line with French, Russian revolutions
[Pak Daily Times] Pakistain Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri
...Pak politician, and would-be dictator, founder and head of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran and Pakistain Awami Tehrik. He usually resides in Canada, but returns to Pakistain periodically to foam at the mouth and lead demonstrations. Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him...
has given another deadline for the removal of the government, saying that the current regime will be ended this September.

Talking to journalists in his container, Qadri vowed to return victorious from the capital. He said that he was nearing success and the sit-in protesters would be home for Eid-ul-Azha after ousting the government by the end of September. To a question, Qadri said that he would not pay visit to the prime minister for settlement of prevailing political deadlock. "If prime minister comes to meet me only then I will meet him," he said.

The PAT chief said that his movement was making efforts for 'real democracy' and electoral reforms. He said that the struggle would be advanced along the lines of the French and Russian revolutions. He expressed his astonishment on the ones boasting off themselves as the champions of democracy, inside the parliament. "Earlier, decisions were made at the General Headquarters (GHQ), but, nowaday's these were made at the Raiwind Headquarters," Qadri said.

He said that neither one here was 'Imam Hussain' nor 'Yazeed', saying that those titles are uttered metaphorically only. To another question, Qadri said that he paid taxes both in Pakistain and Canada.

Iraq
Islamic State threatens to behead Iraqi journalist
Hostages are useful in so many different ways...
[Al Ahram] An Iraqi journalist has been kidnapped by Islamic State holy warriors who are threatening to behead him if he refuses to work for them, media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) warned Thursday.
Run out of Americans, have they?
Raad Mohammed al-Azzawi, a cameraman, was taken prisoner on September 7 in Samarra, a city around 120 kilometres (75 miles) north of Baghdad, RSF said in a statement.

"The jihadist organization has announced that it plans to carry out its decapitation threat because the journalist refused to work for the Islamic State (IS)," it added.

He joins a growing list of Iraqi journalists who have been captured or threatened by holy warriors from IS, a radical Islamist group that has seized a swathe of Iraq and Syria and has committed widespread atrocities.

Two captive US journalists, James Foley and Steven Sotloff, had their heads chopped off in recent weeks according to videos released by the jihadists.

"The Islamic State since its emergence has made journalists a terror target," said Virginie Dangles, assistant research director of Reporters Without Borders.

"The terrorist organization, in setting up an apparatus for kidnapping and executing news professionals, is attempting to eliminate all those who refuse to swear allegiance to ISIS," as IS was previously known.

US President Barack Obama
Republicans can come along for the ride, but they've got to sit in the back...
has ordered a "relentless" war against IS, including air strikes in Syria and expanded operations in Iraq to "destroy" the marauding jihadist army.

US warplanes to fly from Iraqi base: Pentagon
[Al Ahram] US combat aircraft will soon start flying out of a base in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq as part of an expanded air campaign against Islamic State jihadists, the Pentagon said Thursday.

Press secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby confirmed "armed and manned" US aircraft would fly from Arbil, capital of Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region, but declined to provide more details.

American fighter jets and other warplanes bombing IS snuffies in Iraq previously have been flying out of bases and from aircraft carriers in the region outside Iraq.

The airfield in Arbil would allow some fighter jets easier access to the battlefront, a defense official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
Fighters have a shorter range than bombers or surveillance planes and using a nearby base allows for more time over a target while reducing the need to frequently refuel, the official said.

The use of Arbil's air base reflects the broadening US campaign against IS murderous Moslems, though attack helicopters already have been flying out of bases in Iraq.

The Pentagon did not say what type of "manned" aircraft were involved or how many aircraft will deploy to Arbil.

"There's still some decisions that have yet to be made on exact sourcing solutions," Kirby told news hounds.

But he indicated that US bombing raids in Iraq would expand in support of Iraqi government and Kurdish forces battling the IS murderous Moslems.

"The kind of support we're going to be giving to Iraqi forces will be more aggressive from the air," Kirby said, without providing details.

His comments came a day after President Barack Obama
Because I won...
's vow to wage a "relentless" war against the IS turbans in Iraq and Syria, under a plan that relies on US air power while arming and training local forces battling the jihadists.

Since August 8, US aircraft have carried out more than 150 bombing raids in Iraq, with most of the strikes targeting IS snuffies threatening djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
dam.

Obama's strategy calls for more more assistance for local forces in Iraq and "moderate" rebel fighters in Syria, with an additional 475 troops to serve as "advisers" to Iraqi troops or in support roles.

The additional troops, which will bring the total number of US forces in Iraq to 1,600, will start arriving in Iraq "next week," Kirby said.

Analyst: Sotloff was Israeli agent, his execution staged
[ABNA.IR] Sotloff's family front man Barak Barfi has claimed that Sotloff-- who had been missing in Syria for nearly two years-- was sold to the ISIL terrorist group by "moderate Syrian rebels" for $50,000.

"The first thing we have to ask ourselves is that who told the family this and why did they tell the family this?" asked Jim W Dean, managing editor and columnist for Veterans Today.

"Either the family is being used to put out a false version of events or do what's commonly done in intel psyops to put a variety of different scenarios out just to confuse anybody trying to see what has really happened," he added.

"And I have to ask the family if they did not know that he was an Israeli intelligence agent," Dean said.

On September 2, ISIL released a video that purported to show the beheading of Sotloff. In a message, the journalist said that he is "paying the price" for US military intervention in the Middle East.

Dean said, "Until we have a body and we can do a DNA test on it, we have absolutely no proof that he is even dead because the videos are so sophisticated today that these things can be fake."

"There is a long history during the Cold War to make agents disappear and give them a new identity of faking executions," he pointed out.

Israel has said it had prevented local media from reporting that Sotloff was also an Israeli citizen in an effort to reduce the risk to his life after he was seized by ISIL hard boyz in Syria last year. Sotloff, who was Jewish, immigrated to Israel in 2005.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas Says May Have to Talk Directly with Israel
[AnNahar] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,' exiled deputy leader said on Thursday the group could be forced to negotiate directly with Israel, ahead of planned talks in Cairo to consolidate a truce.
The poor darlings.
But an Israeli minister dismissed any possibility of talking directly with the Islamist movement, whose charter calls for the destruction of the Jewish state.
And there you have it: the classic snub direct.
Hamas itself later reiterated its policy was not to talk with Israel.

Hamas does not recognize Israel, and Israel denounces Hamas as a "terrorist" organization, and the two sides have never had any direct contact.

Following weeks of indirect, Egyptian brokered negotiations, Israel and Hamas agreed to halt their fire in Gazoo on August 26 after 50 days of war, their deadliest confrontation in years.

The indirect talks are set to resume mid-September to discuss longer-term issues.

Asked if Hamas would contemplate negotiating directly with Israel, Mussa Abu Marzuq, the movement's exiled deputy leader, said it might be needed.

"If the situation remains as it is now... Hamas could find itself forced to do this," he told the Paleostinian al-Quds TV, referring to the dire humanitarian situation and continued blockade on Gazoo.

Under terms of the truce deal, Israel pledged an immediate easing of restrictions on goods and construction materials being shipped in to Gazoo, but so far, officials say there has been little change on the ground.

"From a legal (Islamic) perspective there is nothing wrong with negotiating with the occupation," he said, indicating it could be necessary in order to guarantee the "rights" of the people of Gazoo.

"Many of the issues that have been taboo within the movement could be up for discussion," he said of Hamas' historic refusal to negotiate with Israel.

But Israel's Science Minister Yaakov Peri dismissed outright any possibility of negotiating directly with Hamas.

"As long as Hamas doesn't abandon the path of violence and terrorism, recognize Israel and the Quartet
... The Quartet are the UN (xylophone), the United States (alto), the European Union (soprano), and Russia (shortstop). The group was established in Madrid in 2002 by former Spanish Prime Minister Aznar, as a result of the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Tony Blair is the Quartet's current Special Envoy....
conditions, Israel will not conduct direct talks with this terrorist organization," Peri told public radio.

The conditions of the Middle East Quartet include recognizing Israel, renouncing violence and respecting past agreements between Israel and the Paleostine Liberation Organization.

"We will conduct indirect talks with Hamas through Egypt, but will do so in different rooms," Peri said, describing the way the Gazoo truce talks were run over the past two months.

Hamas later reiterated that "talking with the Zionist enemy is not the policy of the movement."

"Nor has it been put forth for discussion," it said in a statement.

Hamas begins paying workers backdated pay
[ARABNEWS] Paleostinian movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, on Thursday began paying a months-long backlog of salaries to more than 40,000 of its employees in the Gazoo Strip, the Finance Ministry announced.

Hamas, which formally governed Gazoo until early June, had been unable to pay many of its employees from October 2013 due to a biting financial crisis caused by Egypt's closure of cross-border tunnels through which most of movement's financial support was delivered.

Other employees had received only a partial salary.

It was the first time in months the employees had been paid, with workers each receiving between 1,000-4,500 shekels ($276-$1,240/215-960 euros), depending on their pay grade, the ministry said.

Although the Hamas government technically stood down on June 2, handing over power to a Ramallah-based government of national consensus, it has remained the de facto power in Gazoo.

Hamas officials, who wished to remain anonymous, told AFP it was able to begin paying the backlog due to tax monies it had collected, enabling it to cover partial payment of all salaries from October through to May.

Political analyst Mukhaimer Abu Saada said funds were also likely to have come from aid pouring into Gazoo during and after a bloody 50-day conflict with Israel that ended August 26, as well as from friendly donors such as Qatar

a Hamas big turban says the group is willing to talk directly to Israel, reversing a previous ban.

In an interview with Al Quds TV to be broadcast later Thursday, Hamas No. 2 Musa Abu Marzouk says "Hamas is willing to talk directly to the Israelis" over issues including Gazoo border crossings and prisoner releases.

Philippine Muslims to create thier own government
[ABNA.IR] The president of the majority Christian Philippines proposed Wednesday to give Moslems in the south the ability to run their own government under their own flag, part of a peace plan aimed at ending a four-decade rebellion that has killed 150,000 people.

The draft law submitted by President Benigno Aquino III to Congress fleshes out a peace deal signed in March by the country's largest Moslem gang, the 11,000-strong Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The autonomous region in the southern island of Mindanao, to be called Bangsamoro, would get its own 60-member parliament that would wield exclusive power over such areas as agriculture, trade, tourism and education.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: Islamist Inmates Reject to be Swapped with Arsal Hostages
[AnNahar] Islamist gunnies held at Roumieh prison, whose names were mentioned by Islamist gunnies to be released from the facility, reject to be exchanged with the kidnapped Lebanese soldiers and coppers.

Sources told al-Akhbar newspaper, published on Thursday, that Syrian prisoners "expressed surprise that their names were on Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
's (ISIL) list of demands."

The newspaper said that the inmates reportedly disagree with the mentality of the group.

The sources told the daily that five inmates so far reject to be swapped with the remaining Arsal hostages, fearing that they might be forced to head to the Syrian al-Qalamoun.

Jihadists who are holding several Lebanese soldiers and coppers hostage after withdrawing from the northeastern border town of Arsal have called on the Lebanese government to release Islamist inmates from the country's largest prison in Roumieh in exchange for the captive security personnel.

The jihadists beheaded two of their captives and have threatened to kill more.

The cabinet has totally rejected such a measure as the March 14 camp's ministers have called for the speedy trial of the Islamists.

There are hundreds of Islamist inmates in Roumieh prison awaiting their trials. They were reportedly involved in terrorist acts, including planning suicide kabooms, belonging to terrorist groups and other charges.

Around 90 Islamists have been tried. They were jugged
Please don't kill me!
over their involvement in bloody festivities with the Lebanese army at the northern refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared in 2007.

Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
has reportedly dispatched a delegation to negotiate with Islamist gunnies from ISIL and the al-Qaeda-affiliate al-Nusra Front the release of the soldiers and coppers.

The delegation, according to reports, tasked a Syrian national to meet with the snuffies to relay their demands to the Lebanese state, which rejects direct talks with the jihadists.

#3  Are the hostage-takers themselves confused about the loyalties of the prisoners they want exchanged, or is this some sort of perverse victim-shopping, where they're looking to trade up from Lebanese hostages to hostages from rival Islamist gangs which will give them leverage and power in their own little world?

Although it sounds like loyalties are crazy fluid among the militant groups in the Levant. It might be that the prisoners have no idea who's bidding for their asses, and don't exactly want to put themselves bound and unarmed in the control of unknown lunatics non-state actors.

#4  Reject a swap? Wonder what brand of Islamist gunnies they are? The newspaper said that the inmates reportedly disagree with the mentality of the group. As Ed says, they must feel that it is much safer to stay where they are. Could be that ISIL also has a grudge to settle with them.

Russia Says US Airstrikes Without UN Mandate Would Be Act Of Aggression
In the UN Security Council, where Russia has the veto, oddly enough. But will President Obama bother, when his is the righteous cause?
[Ynet] Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday Arclight airstrikes against Islamist gunnies in Syria without a UN Security Council mandate would be an act of aggression, Interfax news agency reported.

"The US president has spoken directly about the possibility of strikes by the US armed forces against ISIL positions in Syria without the consent of the legitimate government," ministry front man Alexander Lukashevich said.

"This step, in the absence of a UN Security Council decision, would be an act of aggression, a gross violation of international law."

Britain, Germany: Won't take part in airstrikes on Syria
[Ynet] Britannia's foreign secretary says his country won't participate in Arclight airstrikes on Syria, following an announcement from Washington that it would begin hitting targets inside the country.

Speaking Thursday after talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Philip Hammond said Britannia won't be "revisiting" the issue after Parliament decided last year against participating in Arclight airstrikes.

Germany often shuns taking part in combat operations and Steinmeier said his country also wouldn't join in any Arclight airstrikes.

#8  I was all for strikes in Syria; but now also vs. Syria, neither.

We use drones, Syria gets a shot at anti-drone theory and whether they shoot one down or not will improve air defense capability, which I would imagine they would share with their allies.

Using manned aircraft creates the scenario of a shoot down with captive airmen.

So we tomahawk Syria without a UN fig leaf, or do nothing and look the toothless hooker.

Did Barry just deep six our foreign policy for a long shot grab at the media hill for election purposes? Seems to me hawks and doves on all sides are wtf.

Hezbollah: Obama not determined enough to confront ISIL
[ABNA.IR] U.S. President Barack Obama
My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it...
is not determined to crush Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
(ISIL) terrorists, Hezbollah deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
said.

"The flurry of international activity, which is sponsored by the U.S., is not serious in ending the takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
threat," Qassem said in remarks published Thursday by the local newspaper As-Safir.

He said Obama spoke of "containing" the threat and not "stopping" it.

"Comments made by Barack Obama are clear. The word 'containing' means to identify risks and disable some of its objectives while maintaining the this terrorist organization's role [as a method designed] to frighten certain countries in this region and to keep this risk as a scarecrow in appropriate places to make political gains, particularly in Iraq and Syria."

"Those who delve deeper into the American stance will notice that Americans accept ISIL in our region while trying to prevent it from spreading to its country. Terminating ISIL is not being considered at all."

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs also stressed that the US government Obama seems not to be serious in combating terrorism in Iraq.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the US "delay" in fighting terrorism and the ISIL has "fuelled suspicions and doubts about the US objectives in Iraq."

He added that the United States is concentrating its efforts on "fuelling sectarianism" in Iraq instead of fighting terrorism there.

Amir-Abdollahian said Washington's failure to make a distinction between "gunnies and political opposition groups" in Syria further strengthened terrorism and resulted in the creation of such groups as the ISIL.

Syria warns against foreign intervention after Obama speech
[ARABNEWS] Any foreign intervention in Syria would be an act of aggression unless it is approved by Damascus, a Syrian government minister said on Thursday, after the United States said it was prepared to strike against Islamic State Death Eaters in the country.

"Any action of any type without the approval of Syrian government is an aggression against Syria," Ali Haidar, minister of national reconciliation affairs, told news hounds in Damascus. "There must be cooperation with Syria and coordination with Syria and there must be a Syrian approval of any action whether it is military or not."

Foreign countries could use Islamic State simply as a pretext for attacking Syria, Haidar told news hounds ahead of a meeting with new international peace mediator Staffan de Mistura.

Washington and its Western allies have supported the insurgency against Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

and have ruled out cooperating with him to fight Islamic State, which seeks to create a cross-border caliphate.

Instead the United States wants to bolster moderate Syrian rebels fighting Assad and has asked Congress to authorize $500 million to train and arm them, and has said it is willing to carrying out air strikes against Islamic State targets in the country.

Britannia's foreign secretary said his country won't participate in Arclight airstrikes on Syria.

Separately, Iran said on Thursday the emerging international coalition to battle Islamic State Death Eaters was "shrouded in serious ambiguities," Iranian state television

"The so-called international coalition to fight the ISIL group... is shrouded in serious ambiguities and there are severe misgivings about its determination to sincerely fight the root causes of terrorism," Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Thursday.

She also accused some members of the coalition as "financial and military supporters of hard boyz in Iraq and Syria."

Obama says ready to launch air attacks on IS in Syria
[ARABNEWS] US President Barack Obama
I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody...
said Wednesday he is ready to launch air strikes on Islamic State forces in Syria, expanding the campaign already undertaken against the hard boyz in Iraq.

"I have made it clear that we will hunt down bully boyz who threaten our country, wherever they are. That means I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria, as well as Iraq," Obama said in a televised address.

"This is a core principle of my presidency: if you threaten America, you will find no safe haven."

He called on Congress to give him "additional authorities and resources to train and equip" the Syrian opposition, saying they were the "best counterweight" to IS fighters, who have seized wide swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria.

"In the fight against ISIL, we cannot rely on an Assad regime that terrorizes its people; a regime that will never regain the legitimacy it has lost," he said, referring to Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Despoiler of Deraa...
Obama said the US would lead a "broad coalition" to roll back the threat posed by IS, but insisted that US combat troops will not be sent to fight on foreign soil as part of the operation.

Iranians believe IS was invented by America
[9NEWS.AU]
Many ordinary Iranians believe their leader's rhetoric that the United States invented the terrorist group Islamic State to counter Iran's growing influence in the region.

Last week Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said he believes America created IS as a ploy to re-establish a foothold in Iraq and fight Syrian president Bashir al-Assad, Iran's ally.

"We have evidence now, we know," Ayatollah Khamenei reportedly told a gathering of holy mans.

The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
Tehran bureau chief has since cited numerous examples of ordinary Iranians convinced that America is involved.

And yesterday Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
claimed to show images of US Republican Senator John Maverick McCain
... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution...
meeting with His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, the caliph of IS.

Ayatollah Khamenei has previously alleged that al-Qaeda and the Taliban were also devised by the West as a counterweight to Iran.

US President Barack Obama
I inhaled. That was the point...
today announced he will escalate an aerial bombing campaign aimed at destroying IS.

The Abbott government reportedly is expecting a request from Washington within days to provide military support for the US-led assault.

#11  Barry claiming the Arab Spring, Libra, Egypt, McCain's Heroes, and other night's speech would be a very tempting five course meal.

The no-fly aid corridor, promises of logistic stuffs to Team Not-Assad, leaks of trainers and advisors, and trying to sell the public AT and AA equipment to TNA which at the time there were reports of ISJV converting or killing other members of TNA with a prominate assassinations of Free Syria Army leaders yet the US continued to bang the support drum.

I don't know about invented or created, but I think supported and trained a la those CAR rebels France had to go stomp. Kind of makes me curious as to the yarns our two intrepid reporters could have spun. When Al Quada is like, "Hey USA, quit those guys, they are total a@holes we divorced them months ago." We were going to go to war for these guys until Kerry got off script.

It is no stretch to me to see an advisor over there. "This air base is killing us, what is the best way to capture an air base and as much equipment as possible?" Then as soon as the advisor goes to bed, out come the Iraq maps.

Imagine what it would look like if Egypt didn't un-eff itself from the Obama backed Muslim Brotherhood government whose first three major policy points were negate Israeli peace treaties, purge the generals, and want to send troops to Ethiopia. I see a continuous line of various JV squads from east Africa to Baghdad, with MB troops in and around the horn and Sinai, around the time the CAR rebels start popping off.
