Sinai Terrorists Pledge Loyalty To Islamic State
[Ynet] New audio tape, released on Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis
...Supporters of Jerusalem, the current pen name of al-Qaeda in the Sinai Peninsula...
' Twitter account, proclaims former al-Qaeda ally has switched allegiances to al-Baghdadi.

Timing, guys, timing. Whatever will you do if it turns out the Caliph has been maimed or killed, thus invalidating his claim to the throne?
Egypt's most active hard boy group, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, has sworn allegiance to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, the al-Qaeda offshoot which has seized territory in Syria and Iraq, according to an audio clip posted on its Twitter account.

If genuine, the declaration of allegiance would be a boost for Islamic State, showing its widening influence in the region alongside its territorial advances in Iraq and Syria.

The Sinai-based hard boy group posted the clip, which is 9 minutes and 26 seconds in length, early on Tuesday morning on a Twitter account that calls itself the official mouthpiece of Ansar.

The clip was then carried on a website used by Islamists. Rooters was not immediately able to verify the authenticity of the statement or contact the group directly for comment.

In the clip, a man identifies himself only as part of the group's "information department". He says the murderous Moslems had pledged loyalty to His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, head of Islamic State, which is now facing US-led air strikes.

The Twitter account has issued other statements on the group's behalf in recent months. It is often suspended and re-opened; one of these shutdowns occurred hours before the statement was tweeted.

The posting comes the week after the group distanced itself from a statement pledging loyalty to Baghdadi that appeared in its name online and was reported by Rooters.
Flip-flopping? One expects true Lions of Islam to be clear on exactly who does -- and does not -- have the approval of Allah. Also on who may speak on behalf of the warrior elite.
Egyptian security officials have said Islamic State has established contacts with Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, though the precise nature of these to date is unclear.

In September, Islamic State issued a statement urging holy warriors in Sinai to push ahead with attacks on the country's security forces.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi has said Egypt faces an "existential threat" from Sinai-based murderous Moslems who have killed hundreds of police and soldiers since the army ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi last year.

Last month, at least 33 security personnel were killed in two successive attacks, prompting Egypt to declare a three-month state of emergency in parts of northern Sinai.

The attacks were a setback for the government, which had managed over the past few months to make some progress in the struggle against holy warriors and focus on repairing the economy.

Egypt Jihadists Seek Reinforcements with IS Allegiance
[AnNahar] Under increasing pressure from the military, Egypt's deadliest jihadist group pledged allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
organization in a bid to boost recruitment and bolster its fight against the army, analysts say.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis (Partisans of Jerusalem) has waged an insurgency from its Sinai Peninsula stronghold that has killed scores of Egyptian police and soldiers since the army ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi last year.

In response, the army has launched a huge operation in Sinai targeting jihadists and last month began building a buffer zone on the border with Gazoo to stem the flow of murderous Moslems and weapons from the strip.

The military announces the arrest or killing of alleged murderous Moslems in Sinai on a near-daily basis, in claims which are not independently verified.

But unlike IS, which claims to want to establish a "caliphate" across the region, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis harbors more local ambitions, targeting mainly Egyptian soldiers and policemen.
"(Ansar Beit al-Maqdis) seems to be looking to internationalize their position, perhaps in response to increasing pressure on the ground from the Egyptian security forces," said Hisham Hellyer, senior fellow in International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute in London.

The group's announcement is the most significant show of support for IS in the region outside Iraq and Syria, suggesting its influence now rivals that of its once-dominant al-Qaeda rivals.

"They (Ansar Beit al-Maqdis) are suffering from lack of resources as Egyptian security forces besiege Sinai," said Eman Ragab, an expert on regional security at the Cairo-based Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies.

"Pledging allegiance to IS would help gain the sympathy of youths who could be recruited from other groups, or help get logistical support from IS itself."

Unlike its jihadist rivals, the Islamic State group has a straightforward message that is also a selling point for Ansar Beit al-Maqdis recruiters, according to a Cairo-based expert on terrorism in the Middle East speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
"Its message is much more simple than al-Qaeda and is aimed at the masses who have limited knowledge of religion, and they get influenced by calls to kill Americans, Shiites or others."

Ismail al-Iskandrani, a researcher at the Gay Paree-based Arab Reform Initiative, agrees that the new allegiance will help recruit fighters to Ansar Beit al-Maqdis.

"Pledging allegiance in itself is an attempt to recruit IS supporters and sympathizers... especially since Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has suffered losses in recent operations," he said.

"They are attempting to create a sanctuary for young jihadists who want to join IS in Egypt."

But unlike IS, which claims to want to establish a "caliphate" across the region, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis harbors more local ambitions, targeting mainly Egyptian soldiers and coppers.

The group has so far focused its attacks on security forces, and once bombed a tourist bus on the border with Israel, killing three South Koreans.

It has also urged Egyptians to fight Morsi's ouster.

Iskandrani said the "real concern" was that Ansar Beit al-Maqdis could target supporters of the Egyptian army "like Christians or embassies of countries participating in the coalition against IS."

The new allegiance "makes the threat (of IS) even more obvious," said Karim Bittar, research director at Gay Paree's Institute of International and Strategic Relations.

"Its ability to strike Middle Eastern or international targets is also multiplying," Bittar said.

"There is a ripple effect and as long as Daesh momentum is unstopped, many will want to join the bandwagon," he said, referring to IS' Arabic acronym.

Yemeni president names man who got him death sentence as justice minister
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi swore in the country's new justice minister on Sunday, the same man who had him sentenced to death in 1987, a presidential source told Al Arabiya News Channel's Arabic website.

Khaled Omar Bajunaid, then attorney general of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen), accused Hadi of terrorism, vandalism, and treason following his involvement in the 1986 civil war.

Hadi was found guilty of treason after he defected to Northern Yemen along with his political party members that fought other factions over the control of Aden.

But the execution was never carried out because Hadi had fled to northern Yemen and returned to the south only after the unification.

Hadi's appointment of Bajunaid was seen as a display of forgiveness and reconciliation, as well as an effort to reinstate the rule of the judiciary, a necessary component to establish the rule of law, the source told Al Arabiya Net.

#2  Point of British trivia, from a recent airing of the Antiques Roadshow:

During the War year of 1940 a great fear of the coming German invasion was sweeping over the UK. To quell those fears and rumor mills, a poster was developed and sent to postal offices throughout Great Britain. The poster read "Keep Calm and Carry on." Instructions from the Government stipulated the poster only be displayed upon official notification from the Ministry of Defense, that the German invasion had actually begun. The original posters measured approximately 18" x 24" and were red in colour. Most were binned following the war. An original today might fetch a pretty penny.

Peru Police To Press Charges Against Alleged Hezbollah Detainee
[Ynet] Peruvian police said on Monday they will press charges against a foreign man arrested in Lima last month, after finding him with traces of explosives and getting his confession to being a member of the Shi'ite Islamist movement Hezbollah.

Authorities have not said what they are charging the man with nor why they initially investigated him.

Police found traces of explosives on the man's hands and in the house where he was staying upon his arrest on October 28, said Peru's police director Jorge Flores.

"He has accepted being a member of Hezbollah," Flores told reporters about his confession while in police custody. "The investigation has concluded and corresponding paperwork will be processed. Today he is going to be made available to the attorney's general office as a detainee."

Europe
Swedish police have ceded control over 55 “no-go zones” to predominately Muslim criminal gangs.
[Daily Caller] In response to these no-go zones, the Swedish police is expanding its soft approach of dialogue and understanding. After the extensive 2013 Stockholm ghetto riots with hundreds of burned cars and buildings, police responded by mostly staying away and sending forth special "dialogue officers" to grill halal hot dogs with the miscreants
Why hot dogs instead of something more traditional to the culture of the miscreants? Aren't hot dogs awfully "colonial", under the circumstances?
and make them see the errors of their ways.

Starting next year, the Stockholm Policy Academy will be moved to Sodertorns Hogskola, where the new curriculum will be “progressive” with more focus on cultural sensitivity, ethical awareness, gender issues and more. The aspiring police officers will achieve "greater understanding of the intercultural perspective."
Ag, the "progressive" approach, coupled with "dialogue offers." Bound to bring about a high degree of success and tranquility.

US: Iran Ceased Efforts To Speed Up Uranium Enrichment
[IsrealTimes] The US State Department said Monday that Iran has ceased all efforts to speed up its enrichment of uranium following a report over the weekend that Tehran was developing a process that get the job done at a much quicker pace.

"We raised that issue with Iran as soon as the IAEA reported it, and it was resolved immediately. The Iranians have confirmed that they will not continue that activity as cited in the IAEA report, so it's been resolved," said State Department spokeswoman Jen Paski, adding that it was resolved over the past few days.
That's the kind of results-oriented negotiations we've come to expect from The Smartest Man In The Room and his team of crack negotiators.
The report came as the UN's nuclear agency announced Friday that its attempts to probe allegations that Tehran worked on nuclear weapons were deadlocked -- a finding that all but rules out hopes of full nuclear deal between six world powers and Iran by the November 24 target date.

US, Iran held secret talks to renew ties if nuke deal reached
[IsraelTimes] The US and Iran reportedly held secret talks to potentially renew diplomatic ties if a nuclear deal between world powers and Tehran to curb Iran's atomic program is reached and sanctions are lifted.

The talks focused on the opening of a US trade office in Tehran, according to a report in the London Times, which means that the two countries were set renew relations for the first time in 35 years.

Iranian officials cited by the paper said talks on the matter were set to resume in Baku, Azerbaijan this week and would be led by Mohammad Reza Sabzalipour, the head of Iran's global trade bureau.

'Talks have been on and off for some time between very select teams, in parallel to the nuclear negotiations. They are making progress towards some deeper level agreements,' an Iranian government adviser was quoted by the paper as saying.

The report indicated that if 'a deal is reached and a schedule agreed for lifting economic sanctions, the Iranian government would welcome a limited expansion of America's diplomatic presence in Tehran.' The paper did not cite the source of this condition.

'One possibility is an umbrella office for US trade. An alternative is a cultural office, purely for academic exchanges,' he said. 'There is a real desire among moderates to bring US business and investment back to Iran.'

In 1979, ties between the US and Iran came to a halt after Iranian students supportive of the Islamic Revolution stormed the US embassy in Tehran and held its staff hostage for over 400 days. The attack set off a major diplomatic crisis which ended with the severing of ties.

The Swiss embassy has represented US interests in Iran since then, and, according to the report, its role may be expanded to fulfill the role of a trade office for the American government.

The US State Department swiftly denied the report on the possible resumption of ties.

'I can assure you that there are no such trade talks involving US government officials, that we are not considering opening a trade office, and that we have had no conversations . . . with [Mr Sabzalipour],' a US official was quoted by the paper as saying.

India-Pakistan
'Leave your faith or leave your country'
[DAWN] "We are not Moslem, we are not Hindu, but first and foremost, we are Sindhi. There is a conspiracy to force Sindhi Hindus to leave Sindh, but we will not allow nefarious elements to succeed," a political activist was sloganeering in English outside the Hyderabad Press Club.

Like most nationalists, he was hoping his message would be heard not only everywhere in Pakistain but also all across the world.

But the sad reality is, all these protests are of no use; the messages all fruitless. Despite their community's strong resistance, the situation is very much the same as it was yesterday. Hindu girls were converted in the past, are being converted today, and I'm sure, will be converted down to the very last Hindu remaining on the soil of Sindh.

It is true that whenever a Hindu girl in Sindh is kidnapped or converted, a large number of Sindhi Hindus -- in the face of fear and hopelessness -- are forced to migrate to India.

After the alleged kidnapping of Anjali Bai Meghwar from Daharki, Kajul Bheel from Matiari district and Karin from Nawabshah (most people not aware of these names), many people including my dear friend Ajeet Kumar are forced to consider the idea of migration.

"As a last resort we have decided to migrate to India," Ajeet told me a few days ago.

"We are completely insecure here. We are looted but our voice is not heard by the people in the saddle, our temples are attacked in broad daylight but no one takes action, our girls are kidnapped and forcibly converted only to hear more empty promises of justice.

"Nothing happened in the last 65 years and we don't expect any improvement in future. Things will only become wore."

All the political parties have condemned and protested the forced conversion of 12 year-old Anjali and subsequent marriage to a young man. But while Bilawal Bhutto, the ruling party's chairman, has taken cognizance of it, most PPP leaders have kept mum as they know there is no way to turn the situation around. Intolerance of faith differentials has gone so far in this country that not only Hindus but Christians, Ahmadis and Shias are equally targeted every now and then.

Anti-terrorism court remands 4 suspects in lynching of Christians
[DAWN] LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Monday, remanded in jug four people accused of killing the Christian couple Shama and Shehzad, for alleged blasphemy, officials said.

Shehzad Masih, a bonded labourer, and his pregnant wife Shama Bibi were beaten by a mob of 1,500 people then thrown on top of a lit brick furnace last week in a crazed reaction to rumours that they had thrown pages of the Holy Koran into the garbage.

The horrific incident took place on November 4 in the tiny hamlet of Chak 59 (village 59) near the town of Kot Radha Kishan, 60 kilometres (40 miles) southwest of Lahore.

It has sparked protests across the country by Christians and outrage among rights activists. Police have jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
more than 40 suspects.

"The police produced four suspects in anti-terrorism court and the judge remanded them into police custody for further interrogation till November 19," a prosecution official told AFP.

He said 39 more suspects were already in jail, out of a total of some 60 suspects named in the lynching of the Christian couple.

Some 900 students from Lahore's missionary schools staged a demonstration outside Lahore Press Club against the murders.

Protesters shouted "We want justice!" and "Stop killing minorities!" as they carried placards and banners, including one which read "Death penalty for the killers of Shehzad and Shama."

Wagah bomber transported by truck to blast site: Punjab home minister
[DAWN] LAHORE: Punjab Home Minister Col.(retd) Shuja Khanzada said the bomber who carried out the Wagah border attack was transported to the bombing site on a truck.

Speaking during an interview on DawnNews, Khanzada gave details as to the background of the individual who carried out the attack.

He said the investigation into the Wagah border attack is still ongoing and that to blame a particular individual would not be prudent.

"We found a handkerchief on which 'congratulations on martyrdom' was written in Pashto," he said.

"Based on that evidence we can tell that the individual was Pashto speaking," said Khanzada.

During the interview he stated that intelligence reports pointed out to the possibility of at least four bombers carrying out an attack.

"The intelligence suggested that there would be at least four to five jacket wallahs," he said.

"The information we received is that the bomber was transported by truck... we also found a suicide jacket in a parking lot, which we disarmed," said the Punjab home minister.

Khanzada said that truckers and drivers from Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
have also been rounded up in connection with the bombing.

The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar splinter group of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) grabbed credit for the Wagah border attack.

Its front man Ehsanullah Ehsan
...formerly the front man for the Pak Taliban, now the lips and tongue of the Jamaatul Ahrar splinter group in Mohmand Agency...
has said that it was carried out by one of their men.

Minorities protest govt failure to protect them
[DAWN] Members of various organizations of minority communities on Sunday demonstrated outside the Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
Press Club here against increasing incidents of violence against members of minorities and demanded of the government to arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crimes.

The All Minority Alliance, Peshawar chapter organised the protest, where the participants asked the government to take steps aimed at creating religious harmony in the country.

The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with demands for protection to the minorities against violent attacks. The protesters were also shouting slogans against the government's apathy to protect lives of the members of the religious minorities.

The protesters said that killing of minority people was a conspiracy to fan religious riots and that it was government's duty to foil such intrigues.

Speaking to the protesters, Hindu community leader Haroon Sarb Diyal said that the government was not serious in taking effective steps for protection of the non-Moslems, as it had not taken into account several suggestions given to it from time to time.

Sajid Yaqoob Sahotra, a leader of the United Christian Movement, said that the killing of a Christian couple in Kasur strengthened the fear that minorities were not secure in Pakistain. He added that several Sikh community people were killed in Fata and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
but the responsible people had yet to be incarcerated
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!

He said that the Christian community would start protest demonstrations to raise voice against the violence.

Meanwhile,

Christians living in Landi Kotal on Sunday held a protest demonstration at the Hospital Chowk against the burning of the Christian couple.

Led by Arshad Masih, chairman All-Fata Christian Community, the demonstrating Christians were holding placards inscribed with slogans against the alleged killers of the Christian couple and the Punjab government. Speaking on the occasion, Arshad Masih demanded an impartial inquiry into the brutal killing of the couple and exemplary punishment for those involved in the heinous crime.

#1  As Obama grasps for a winning policy, he is hamstrung by an expertise deficit on the two countries it now finds itself bombing. After U.S. troops left Iraq in 2011, the Obama team failed to maintain a deep roster of officials fluent in the country’s complex sectarian and tribal relationships. In the past two years, meanwhile, Obama’s two top Syria hands departed in frustration. The current U.S. ambassador to Iraq arrived in June from a posting in Amman, Jordan. His predecessor served less than two years in the country. The State Department’s new top Syria official arrived in March from Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, there is no senior U.S. military commander in Iraq today. The air campaign is managed from Central Command headquarters in Tampa, Florida, by Centcom chief Lloyd Austin — although that will soon change, according to a Defense Department official. The Pentagon plans to send a three-star general to Iraq soon to manage the effort from there.

Back in Washington, the Iraq account in the White House technically belongs to a relatively junior national security aide. Biden stepped back from his lead role months ago, before the rise of ISIL, in part because the White House wanted to begin normalizing its relationship with Baghdad.

“The fundamental issue here is, how willing is the president to get involved?” Michael O’Hanlon, a defense analyst at the Brookings Institution, said. “Obama is the person setting the constraints on how much we will do.”

Obama: U.S. Troop Increase in Iraq Signals 'New Phase'
[AnNahar] The deployment of an additional 1,500 American troops to Iraq marks a "new phase" in the campaign against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadists, U.S. President Barack Obama
Itâs very rare that I come to an event where Iâm like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person....
said in comments broadcast Sunday.

"Phase one was getting an Iraqi government that was inclusive and credible -- and we now have done that," Obama told CBS News.

"Rather than just try to halt ISIL's momentum, we're now in a position to start going on some offense," the president added.

Obama stressed that the U.S. forces would not engage in combat, and would focus on training Iraqi recruits and some of the Sunni tribes that are fighting the Islamic State group.

"We will provide them close air support once they are prepared to start going on the offense against ISIL (IS)," Obama told CBS's Face the Nation television program.

"But what we will not be doing is having our troops do the fighting."

When asked if any more U.S. forces will be sent to Iraq in the future, Obama said: "I'm never going to say never," but said the current plan was to see fewer U.S. troops over time.

Obama on Friday announced that the United states would send up to 1,500 additional troops to Iraq to aid the Baghdad government and Kurdish forces fighting the Islamic State group, doubling the number of U.S. troops in the country.
Ynet adds:
Dozens of US troops on ground in Iraq's Anbar province

The United States has deployed a team of about 50 troops to an air base in Iraq's fiercely contested Anbar province to lay the groundwork for an advisory mission at the core of its campaign against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. myrmidons, officials said on Monday.

The decision expands the scope of the campaign and the geographic distribution of forces, including the first deployment of US advisers to Iraq's western Anbar province, much of which is controlled by Islamic State forces. As part of those plans, a small group of US troops is conducting a site survey of facilities for potential future use at Ain al-Asad air base, the largest in Anbar, US officials told Rooters.

"I can confirm that approximately 50 US military personnel are visiting al-Asad (air base)," said Colonel Patrick Ryder, a front man at the US military's Central Command.

PA Intercepted Israeli Drone Transmissions During Second Intifada
[IsraelTimes] The Palestinian Authority managed to intercept Israeli drone transmissions a decade ago that helped Palestinian groups thwart several Israeli assassination attempts against Hamas leaders, a former head of the Palestinian Preventive Security Force in Gaza revealed in an investigative TV report to be aired on Israeli television.

The segment, set to air Monday evening, focuses on the search for shadowy Hamas commander Muhammad Deif.

Speaking to The Times of Israel in the Jordanian capital of Amman along with Ilana Dayan of Israel’s “Uvda” TV program, Samir Masharawi of the Preventive Security Force said he observed one of the Israeli assassination attempts against Deif in September 2002 from a special control room he established in Gaza that was able to receive the transmissions of the Israeli drone used in the attack.

According to Masharawi, a few months after the Second Intifada broke out, in early 2001, a Palestinian security officer approached him and told him he believed he could intercept the photographs transmitted by Israeli drones, given the appropriate equipment. Masharawi gave him the green light to set up such a system, and the officer complied. According to Masharawi, this capability improved over time.

An Israeli security source confirmed that, like Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Palestinians in Gaza were able to intercept transmissions during the early 2000s, as they were not yet being encrypted.

After the control center was set up in one of Gaza’s high-rises, Palestinian security forces were able to receive images from live Israeli drone transmissions. Masharawi, then the deputy to Gaza’s Fatah security chief Mohammad Dahlan, said that in this way he and his men managed to thwart assassinations against Hamas leaders.

He related an incident in which his men observed drones following a car located at Gaza’s Islamic University. The Palestinian security forces discovered that the vehicle belonged to one of the heads of Hamas, Ibrahim al-Makadmeh, and he was alerted through representatives of the terror group who maintained contact with the PA during that period. One of the Hamas leaders who received that warning from the Preventive Security Force was the former prime minister of Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh. Makadmeh was later assassinated in March 2003.

Masharawi said it was often unclear what the drones were tracking. He said that the photographs showed houses or cars, but it often took a great deal of effort to discern the location of the sites. His men often went out on patrol in areas that looked similar to those in the photographs, he said, in an effort to track the next assassination target.

In 1995 and 1996, Masharawi conducted negotiations with Mohammad Deif on behalf of Fatah leader Yasser Arafat, in an effort to halt the terror attacks against Israel and encourage him to join ranks with the PA’s security forces. The talks with Deif progressed in the right direction, he said, and the Hamas leader was willing to consider this option.

Moreover, for many months, Masharawi claimed, there were no terror attacks perpetrated by Hamas’s military wing. But the assassination of terror operative Yahya Ayyash, a master bombmaker responsible for multiple terror attacks against Israelis, in January 1996 torpedoed the Masharawi-Deif talks. Masharawi said he heard of Ayyash’s death from Deif himself, who called to inform him personally of the news. Later, Masharawi, along with Deif, Dahlan and Fatah leader Sami Abu Samhadana, arrived at the apartment where Ayyash was killed.

After the assassination, the PA tried to quell tensions, and Arafat called for a meeting with Deif. Masharawi arranged a meeting at Arafat’s Gaza office, but after the meeting Deif insisted he would have to retaliate for the assassination of Ayyash.

Deif survived multiple assassination attempts by Israel, lived in hiding and was believed to be paralyzed from onew or more of the Israeli attempts on his life. He was last targeted by Israel during Operation Protective Edge in a strike that claimed the lives of his wife and child. Hamas claimed Deif survived the strike, though no signs of life have been offered since the summer.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Claims Successful Test Of US Drone Copy
[IsraelTimes] Iran said Monday that it has successfully tested its own version of a US-made drone based on one it captured in 2011.

State TV quoted Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the aerospace division of the elite Revolutionary Guard, as saying the test was carried out earlier Monday.

"As we promised earlier this year, a test flight of the Iranian version of the RQ-170 was carried out and a video will be released soon," he said. Iran had displayed the drone earlier this year.

Iran has said it managed to reverse-engineer the RQ-170 Sentinel, seized in December 2011 after it entered Iranian airspace from neighboring Afghanistan, and that it's capable of launching its own production line for the unmanned aircraft.

Iran says it has captured several American drones in recent years, including a Boeing-designed ScanEagle drone -- a less sophisticated aircraft -- after it entered Iranian airspace over the Persian Gulf. Tehran says it is also copying the ScanEagle and plans to put its version into service.

Iran has accused the US of using drones to spy on the country's nuclear program. The US and other Western nations have long suspected Iran is secretly pursuing a nuclear weapons capability alongside its civilian program. Tehran insists its nuclear program is entirely focused on peaceful applications like power generation and the production of medical isotopes.

The two sides are currently struggling to reach an agreement under which Tehran would curb its nuclear activities in exchange for relief from crippling international sanctions.

Iran began a self-sufficiency military program in 1992, under which it has produced everything from mortars and torpedoes to military tanks, jet fighters and light submarines.

Iran, Russia To Sign Nuclear Plants Deal
It's very odd: after years of negotiations President Obama will likely come up empty handed, yet after only a few months President Putin (he is president this time, yes? I've quite lost track.) will have a signed deal.
[IsraelTimes] The head of Iran's atomic energy agency will travel to Russia Tuesday to sign a construction deal for two nuclear power plants on Iran's southern Gulf shores, media reported.

Ali Akbar Salehi's visit will cap months of negotiations between Iran and Russia, and comes as the Islamic Theocratic Republic faces a November 24 deadline for a long-term nuclear agreement with world powers.

"I am going to Moscow to sign an agreement for the construction of new nuclear power plants," Salehi was quoted as saying on Sunday by Iran's official IRNA news agency.

It quoted Tehran's ambassador to Moscow, Mehdi Sanaei, as saying on Facebook that the visit would take place on Tuesday.

Iran's Atomic Energy Organization front man Behrouz Kamalvandi, also quoted by IRNA, said Russia and Iran are set to "finalize and sign the agreement for the construction of two nuclear plants."

Under a provisional agreement, Russia will build two 1,000-megawatt plants next to Iran's sole existing plant in the southern Gulf port city of Bushehr.

The Bushehr plant, which also produces 1,000 megawatts, was built by Russia after being delayed for years and officially handed over in September 2013.

Iran plans to build 20 more plants in the future, including four in Bushehr alone, to decrease its dependency on oil and gas.

Russia and Iran, which are both targeted by international sanctions, signed a number of trade and investment deals in September to help boost their economies.

One of the most important protocols involves energy, and would include creating a power network linking the two countries, for which Iran is desperate for investment.

Russia would also build 10 new conventional electrical power plants in Iran.

Iran is rich in oil and gas, but has long sought to diversify its energy sources, and its drive for nuclear power has complicated relations with the West.

Tehran denies claims by the West and Israel that it is seeking nuclear weapons and insists that it is pursuing atomic energy purely for peaceful purposes.

Iran has been locked in thorny nuclear talks with six world powers, including the United States and Russia, with pressure mounting ahead of a November 24 deadline for a lasting deal to be clinched.

Israeli Woman Joins Kurdish Fighters
[IsraelTimes] An Israeli citizen has joined up with Kurdish fighters battling the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. jihadi group in northern Syria.

Israel Radio reported that the woman, a 31-year-old born in Canada, made contact with the YPG group, the People's Protection Units in Syrian Kurdistan, via the internet.

She set out from her home in Tel Aviv on November 2, stopping in Amman before flying to Erbil, the capital of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The woman's name was withheld by Israel Radio.

On Sunday, she posted to her Facebook page that she was in Nusaybin, Turkey, and was beginning her training in the mountains on the border with Syria the same day.

She told Israel Radio that she wanted to do her part for the Kurdish national struggle, and that she was hopeful her experience in the Israel Defense Forces would be useful to the Kurds.

According to her Facebook page, the woman served in the IDF's Home Front Command.

The woman has posted pictures of herself in mountains of Iraq and Syrian Kurdistan.

"In the IDF, we say Aharai ‐ After Me. Let's show ISIS what that means," she wrote, using an alternate acronym for Islamic State.

Kurdish fighters have dealt the Islamic State a series of military setbacks in Iraq and forced a prolonged stalemate in the small Syrian border town of Kobani.

The prolonged fighting in Kobani is also distracting IS from more strategically important areas in Syria and Iraq where the bully boy forces of Evil are already stretched on multiple fronts.

Nearly two months after IS launched its lightning assault on the Kurdish-dominated town near Turkish border, the group is bogged down in an increasingly entrenched and costly battle.

Syrian and Kurdish activists estimate nearly 600 Islamic State fighters have been killed -- its heaviest losses since taking over large parts of Syria and Iraq in a summer blitz.

But despite seven weeks of fierce fighting and the reinforcements on both sides, fighting positions around Kobani remain much the same as they did several weeks ago, with IS controlling about 40 percent of the town, according to Syrian and Kurdish activists and observers.

IS has also recently suffered losses on several fronts in Iraq, where it is fighting government forces, peshmerga and Shiite militias aided by Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

A group of 150 Iraqi Kurdish forces known as peshmerga deployed last week to Kobani with more advanced weapons including anti-tank missiles and artillery to help bolster their Syrian brethren defending the town. They have provided artillery cover for fellow Kurdish fighters, but it is too early to say whether this has already made any difference on the ground.

Gill Rosenberg, a 31-year-old born in Canada, was arrested in 2009 following a joint FBI and Israel Police operation and consequently spent three years in a US prison for posing as a lottery official and convincing unsuspecting seniors to pay for fictive services, according to the Walla news site. Channel 10 news reported that Rosenberg had originally been sentenced to a four-year prison term, but her sentence was eventually shortened and she was deported to Israel.

Rosenberg and the 11 other members of the ring — all Israeli nationals — were believed to have stolen up to $25 million, according to Channel 10..

Iran Supreme Leader Touts 9-Point Plan To Destroy Israel
[IsraelTimes] Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called over the weekend for the destruction of Israel, stating that the "barbaric" Jewish state "has no cure but to be annihilated."

A plan titled "9 key questions about the elimination of Israel" was posted on his Twitter account Saturday night, using the hashtag #handsoffalaqsa, in reference to the recent tensions on the Temple Mount.

The sometimes grammatically awkward list explained the how and why of Khomeini's vision for replacing Israel with a Paleostinian state.

The first point stated that "the fake Zionist regime has tried to realize its goals by means of infanticide, homicide, violence & iron fist while boasts about it blatantly."

Due to the above, Khomeini argued, "the only means of bringing Israeli crimes to an end is the elimination of this regime."

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
he noted that destroying Israel would not mean the "massacre of the Jewish people in this region" but rather "the Islamic Theocratic Republic has proposed a practical & logical mechanism for this to the international communities."

The "proper way of eliminating Israel," he suggested, is through a "public and organized referendum" for all of the "original people of Paleostine including Moslems, Christians, and Jews wherever they are..." However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
"the Jewish immigrants who have been persuaded into emigration to Paleostine do not have the right to take part."

The resulting government would then decide if the "non-Paleostinian emigrants" can remain in the country or should "return to their home countries."

Khomeini charged the international community with overcoming the "usurper Zionist" objections to his "fair and logical plan." Until the referendum, Israel should be confronted with "resolute and armed resistance."

The Iranian leader also called for arming the people of the West Bank and Gazoo to fight against Israel, and rejected "arbitration by UN or other international organizations" because "the fact that Yasser Arafat was poisoned and killed by Israel...proves that in the viewpoint of Israel 'peace' is simply a trick for more crimes and occupation."

"This barbaric, wolflike & infanticidal regime of #Israel which spares no crime has no cure but to be annihilated," Khamenei wrote in an earlier tweet on Friday.

"West Bank should be armed just like #Gazoo. Friends of Paleostine should do their best to arm People in West Bank," he declared in another.

The Iranian supreme leader first called for the arming of Paleostinians in the West Bank in July, during the summer's 50-day conflict.

In late August, Iran said it was stepping up efforts to arm West Bank Paleostinians for battle against Israel, with Basij militia chief Mohammad Reza Naqdi saying the move would lead to Israel's annihilation, Iran's Fars news agency reported.

"Arming the West Bank has started and weapons will be supplied to the people of this region," Naqdi, who heads the nationwide paramilitary network, said.

"The Zionists should know that the next war won't be confined to the present borders and the Mujahedeen will push them back," he added. Naqdi claimed that much of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,'s arsenal, training and technical knowhow in the recent conflict with Israel was supplied by Iran.

#4  I have a "solution" to the Iran problem, also:
1) Acknowledge there is a problem.
2) State the obvious (that Iran and its mullahs are the problem).
3) Unleash the "dogs of war" upon Iran, complete with nuclear weapons.
4) Search for signs of life after the initial attack.
5) If signs of life are found, repeat steps 3) and 4).
6) Once there are no more signs of life, declare the "problem" solved.

Can be expanded to include other "problem" areas.

#5  I've a feeling that the Assembly of Experts will be vetting candidates for Khamenei's replacement by the end of the decade. Currently there are few potential replacements that would be acceptable to both the mullahs and the IRGC (who, IMNSHO are the more politically and economically powerful of the two) and even those candidates would have issues.

So there are options...

#6  Khamenei has been having health problems in recent years, as I recall, so likely the discussions are well underway. But even if the options were willing to give up talking about eradicating the Jewish problem in Palestine, their one commonality with the Sunni part of the Ummah other than the price of oil, would they give up the nuclear bomb program?

#9  Again, OWG Globalists include POTUS Obama may had miscalculated ala the tolerance of a Secualr andor non-Muslim Jewish State = Israel widin Muslim-majority, proposed Global Federal Unions e.g. Middle East Union, Islamic/Muslim Union, etc.

Prolly safe to say that, in the mindset of Muslim nations, it is grossly illogical or ludicrous for Jewish Israel to be a OWG Global Federal Union(s?) widin + by itself, let alone challenge + compete agz potential US Style "Co-Superpowers" Iran, Turkey, etc.
