Afghanistan
Afghanistan signs major mining deals in development push
KABUL: Afghan officials have signed contracts for two major mining projects in northern Afghanistan, pushing ahead with plans to develop the country’s mineral reserves but drawing criticism over the involvement of a former minister in the project.

The deals were signed in Washington on Friday with mining and investment group Centar and its operating company Afghan Gold and Minerals Co. to develop two sites in Badakhshan and Sar-e Pul provinces with potentially major gold and copper deposits.

The deals, reviving projects that have been stalled for years, follow a push by US and Afghan authorities to develop mineral resources estimated to be worth some $1 trillion and seen as vital to building a functioning economy in Afghanistan after four decades of war.

Arabia
Saudi cleric close to MBS calls for 'peace' trip to Israel
[PRESSTV] A Saudi holy man with close ties to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
as of 2016....

(MBS) has called on faith leaders to travel to Jerusalem al-Quds in a bid to promote "peace" with Israel.

Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Issa, head of the Moslem World League, made the controversial proposal in New York on the sidelines of an annual conference for "Cultural Rapprochement Between the US and the Moslem World" in New York.

"We should send a peace convoy that is representative of all three Abrahamic religions. They should be Moslem, Christian and Jewish and they should visit all holy sites," he told Fox News.

"They should meet everyone and find common ground, and they should provide fertile ground to find solutions for peace."

He also claimed that a possible Jerusalem al-Quds meeting is meant "to keep snuffies from taking any advantage of any intellectual holes that they can use to promote their Death Eater ideologies."

Saudi Arabia has hostile ties with resistance movements in the Paleostinian territories, including Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, which is fighting the Israeli occupation.

Issa's remarks further reflect a quiet warming of relations between the regimes in Riyadh and Tel Aviv.

In his comments, the holy man who was formerly the Saudi justice minister noted that the "peace" delegation should only be made up of religious leaders not political figures.

Europe
Salvini to ‘Close Airports' if EU or Germany Try to Fly Illegal Migrants to Italy
[Breitbart] Italy’s interior minister has vowed to close the country’s airports if Germany follows through with reported plans to send dozens of asylum-seekers back to Italy.

Matteo Salvini tweeted Sunday: "We’ll close our airports like we closed the [sea]ports." Since Salvini became interior minister in June, the Italian government has blocked migrant ’rescue’ ships operated by NGOs from docking in Italian ports.

Italian news reports have said Berlin was planning to put some migrants on charter flights from Germany to Italy. European Union rules require asylum seekers to be processed in the country they reach first, which often is Italy due to its location.

Neither Italian nor German officials have confirmed that any such flights are planned.

Outcry as Jews create own group in German far-right party
Jewish members of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, or AfD, have met in the southwestern German city of Wiesbaden to create a Jewish section within the party‐a move that drew strong condemnation from other Jews.

Media reported that 19 people joined the new "Jews in the AfD" group Sunday.

#3  That is indeed the problem, Bright Pebbles. There are Jew-haters across the political spectrum, but at least AfD is pro-Israel and against inviting more Jew-haters to join the fun. Now AfD and the other populist political parties just need to come to terms with the fact that male circumcision and stun-free slaughter is merely different rather than cruel, and pursuing banning them will drive out the native, law-abiding Jews as well as the non-native Muslims.

The Grand Turk
Turkish police believe disappeared Saudi journalist to be dead
[ALMASDARNEWS] Prominent Saudi journalist and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi went missing after visiting the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul earlier. The journalist entered the consulate; however, the Ottoman Turkish officials said that no proof has been found that Khashoggi left the mission. Riyadh assured that he left the premises the same day.

Two sources told Rooters that Ottoman Turkish authorities believe that Jamal Khashoggi was killed inside the consulate. Hours later, Saudi consulate in Istanbul denied that the journalist was killed at the consulate, Rooters reported.

"The initial assessment of the Ottoman Turkish police is that Mr. Khashoggi has been killed at the consulate of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in Istanbul. We believe that the murder was premeditated and the body was subsequently moved out of the consulate," a Ottoman Turkish official was quoted by Rooters as saying.

Previously, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....
stated that he was ready to allow The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to search for the missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi within the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

Wisconsin Student Outraged Because Terrorism Course Discusses Jihad
[PJ] How divorced from reality are our nation’s college and university campuses today? This divorced from reality: a terrorism class at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has become the focus of controversy for daring to discuss Islamic jihad in connection with terrorism. The connection between Islamic jihad and terrorism is as obvious as the fact that water is wet, but not on campus today.

"Lectures slated for October," the College Fix reported Wednesday, "include topics such as ’Islam and the West,’ ’The origins of Jihad,’ ’Al Qaida,’ ’9/11,’ ’The Islamic State’ and ’Jihad in Africa,’ according to a syllabus screenshot."

That all seems fairly straightforward -- but only in the real world, not at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State do exist, 9/11 did happen, and there is jihad activity against the West and in Africa. However, Muslim student Ali Khan "took to social media to express outrage over the content of ’Political Science 347: Terrorism’ and the way the professor approached the subject."

Khan fumed that the class represented "an American exceptionalism perspective to advance a zionist, orientalist, and/or neocolonialist agenda." He added: "You cannot define terrorism singularly by the actions of terrorist groups or non-state actors without including state-sponsored terrorism," a clear indication that he wanted the class to discuss supposed Israeli terrorism.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, other Kashmiri leaders under house arrest ahead of local polls in IHK
[DAWN] Ahead of the Indian government's local elections in occupied Kashmire, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of a faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, said on Sunday that he has been sent to his room.

A tweet from the Hurriyat leader read: "Under house arrest! Peculiar 'democratic' process of elections 'gearing up' as huge deployment of forces, PSAs, incarcerations, house arrests, raids, curbs, internet bans gather momentum! Not to mention the unknown contestants and amused public! What mockery of democracy is at display!"

Pakistan may go to IMF to address economic woes, says PM Imran Khan
[PRESSTV] Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
says the country might need to return to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to address its mounting balance of payments crisis and economic woes.

"We may go to IMF for loan to handle the country’s financial issues," Khan told news hounds in eastern city of Lahore on Sunday.

The premier, however, said that Islamabad would seek funding from friendly countries first. Khan did not name the countries or provide any details of the requests.

"But, first we will try to get assistance from other countries as we have requested three countries to deposit money in Pakistain’s State Bank that would help boost national reserves."

Last week, the IMF concluded a consultative visit with a warning that Pakistain needed to quickly secure "significant external financing" to stave off a crisis.

Any IMF bailout would likely include conditions to curb government spending. The IMF's demands could threaten Khan’s campaign promise to build an Islamic welfare state.

Finance Minister Asad Umar earlier said foreign reserves need to be boosted by at least $8 billion. But foreign reserves dropped by $627 million in late September to $8.4 billion. The weekly fall was the sharpest in years.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Rebels Say Pullout of Heavy Arms from Syria Buffer Zone to Last Days
[AnNahar] The withdrawal by rebels of their heavy weapons from a planned buffer zone in northwestern Syria is due to last several days, a Ottoman Turkish-backed alliance of fighters said Sunday.

The National Liberation Front (NLF) announced Saturday that it has begun withdrawing heavy arms from the zone as part of an agreement between Syrian regime ally Russia and rebel backer The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
The accord, reached on September 17, aims to stave off a massive regime assault on Idlib province, the last major rebel bastion in Syria, by creating a 15 to 20-kilometer (9-12 mile) buffer zone ringing the area.

All rebels in the demilitarized zone must withdraw heavy arms by Wednesday, and radical groups must leave by October 15, under the deal.

"We began to withdraw our heavy weapons from the demilitarized zone to rear positions," NLF front man Naji Mustafa told AFP.

"The operation will last several days," he said, adding that the weapons will be held by fighters deployed in positions outside the demilitarized zone.

The NLF is the main Turkey-backed rebel alliance in the Idlib region, but jihadist heavyweight Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
(HTS) holds most of the province and the zone.

HTS, led by former al-Qaeda gunnies, has yet to announce its stance on the buffer zone deal.

On Saturday, a media front man for Faylaq al-Sham, one of the NLF factions, confirmed the withdrawal of arms.

Seif Raad said it included pulling back missile launchers, tanks and mortars.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said the withdrawal of weapons had already started a week ago and would continue for several more days.

Weapons were pulled back in rebel-held areas in the north of Hama province on the border with Idlib and had also been shifted in Idlib province, the Britannia-based monitor said.

Turkey has deployed troops in "observation posts" it set up in rebel-held areas of Idlib and neighboring Aleppo province in recent weeks.

Syrian president says Idlib province will finally return to government control
[PRESSTV] Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
says the northwestern province of Idlib will finally return to government control along with other territories, which are still in the hands of foreign-backed bad boys,

"The position of the Syrian state is clear. This province and other Syrian territories remaining under the control of hard boyz will return to the Syrian state [control]," Assad said, adding that the deal over Idlib was concluded as a temporary measure to prevent bloodshed there.

The Syrian leader made the remarks in a meeting of the central committee of the ruling al-Baath Arab Socialist Party in the capital Damascus on Sunday, saying that all the fuss about Idlib "stems from the fact that it is a fateful thing for them, because the Syrians’ victory in it will lead to the failure of their plans."

The deal, agreed last month between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Syria’s close ally, Russia, provides for the establishment of a u-shaped buffer zone around Idlib that would be free of both hard boyz and heavy weapons.

Under the Idlib agreement, Turkey and Russia would carry out coordinated military patrols on the borders of the buffer zone in a bid to detect and prevent provocation by third parties. All forces of Evil in the demilitarized zone, which surrounds Idlib and also parts of the adjacent provinces of Aleppo and Hama, must pull out heavy arms by Wednesday, and Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
groups must withdraw by October 15.

Iran MPs pass controversial bill on fighting terror financing
[PRESSTV] The Iranian parliament has passed a bill on combating the financing of terrorism as part of the country's implementation of international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) bill, one of four put forward by the government to meet FATF demands, was passed on Sunday by 143 votes to 120, according to the ISNA news agency.

To become law, however, Iran's oversight Guardian Council should vet the bill for compliance with the Constitution.

Back in June, the Gay Paree-based FATF gave Iran until October to implement its standards in order to remove Tehran from investment blacklists. The group also warned Tehran of "appropriate and necessary actions" if it does not enact amendments in full compliance with its standards.

Under Trump, US admits fewest refugees since 1980, leaving thousands stranded
[IsraelTimes] Death threats drove Hadi Mohammed out of Iraq and to a small apartment in Nebraska, where he and his two young sons managed to settle as refugees. But the danger hasn’t been enough to allow his wife to join them.

Mohammed, who worked as a security guard for the US military in Baghdad, says he was initially told his wife would be reunited with him and the boys within a month. The wait has now dragged on for more than a year as she goes through stricter screening imposed by the Trump administration.

Tens of thousands of people are experiencing similar anguished waits as the number of refugees entering the US falls to historic lows because of tighter scrutiny that administration officials say is necessary for security. Critics say it amounts to an abandonment of the country’s historic humanitarian role and discriminates against certain groups, particularly Moslems.
