#4  According to some links 3dc found, they don't activate the self-destruct until it's been off the pad for about 30 seconds, supposedly so it won't fall back down on the pad, and supposedly because the nearest town is farther than 30 seconds away.

Injustice Department puts hold on Zimmerman trial evidence.
The "Hold" includes the return of Zimmerman's weapon, in clear violation of Florida law.

#5  Zimmerman should buy another gun to protect himself. Holder is doing this to send a message to others that Zimmerman is unarmed.
Posted by: Airandee || 07/19/2013 16:41 Comments || Top||

#6  Zimmerman may not be armed, but I'd guess his security detail certainly is. With a little imagination, a very creative sting operation could easily be hatched. Of course it won't happen.

#8  Who wants to bet he can no longer pass a background check to get a new weapon.
Posted by: Lowspark || 07/19/2013 17:20 Comments || Top||

#9  Holder wants them to keep the gun (and other evidence) so he can then requisition it (to investigate any civil actions you understand...) and tamper with it. Look for them to find some new 'evidence' the Sanford police somehow overlooked. Perhaps a KKK or Nazi flag or something (I'm sure the DNC has plenty they can spare).
Posted by: CrazyFool || 07/19/2013 19:40 Comments || Top||

#10  Holder has no legal business doing this, but....

Zimmerman is prolly short of cash. You KNOW some idiot has offered to auction off "The Gun™" for him (for a %). Should he take that up it would be distasteful and very poor judgement and reheat the issue. Let the Feds illegally destroy it in spite. It removes the $ temptation

Army Vet Denied Right To Own Gun Due To 1971 Misdemeanor Charge
TOMBALL, Tex. --- Ron Kelly is a retired Army veteran. He used to fire tanks, cannons, and machine guns while fighting for the United States. However, when he applied to the FBI for the right to purchase a .22-caliber rifle from Wal-Mart, the FBI denied him, citing a minor drug possession conviction back in 1971.

Kelly was still in high school at the time, and was reportedly sentenced to just one year probation. Two years later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

"I went on to serve 20 years," Kelly told the newspaper Stars & Stripes. "I had a top-secret clearance. It is amazing that they won't let buy a gun for a misdemeanor 42 years ago."
But the Army let him handle an M-16...
He added, "I am ashamed of the way my government has treated me."

Background checks are required by federal law for anybody wanting to own a gun, and over 881,000 people in Texas have had background checks prior to purchasing firearms this year alone. Only a few, including Kelly, have been rejected.

When he was told by Wal-Mart that he did not pass his background check, he applied a second time -- and was once again denied. Despite the setbacks, he plans to keep fighting.

"I am not going to give up," Kelly told Stars & Stripes. "I want to have a gun."

#1  If the whole story is here, then perhaps the drug conviction had a potential sentence of ?2 years in jail in the state where he went to high school - I seem to recall that is one of the purchase blocking categories. So if he got his conviction in Texas or another state with hard sentencing, he might not be legal to purchase, while if he had been in Hawaii maybe the max sentence for personal pot possession would have left him eligible.

#2  Gun laws are not written to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. They are written to keep guns out of the hands of Ron Kelly.

Mr. Kelly can scream and stamp his feet out of the unfairness of it all, or he can nut up and go out and buy a gawddam gun.

#5  SGT Kelly is in a tough spot. If he's convicted of felony gun position or any other felony, he could instantly lose his Army pension, medical care, and all benefits [such as they are]. He needs to take up Russian martial arts or knife fighting

Salafist Abu Ismail remains detained for forging his mother's nationality
[Al Ahram] East Cairo prosecution has ordered the detention of Salafist preacher Hazem Salah Abu Ismail for four days pending investigations on charges of forging his mother's nationality during Egypt's 2012 presidential elections.

Investigations revealed that Abu Ismail lied in his papers submitted to the presidential elections committee, claiming that his mother had no passport other than the Egyptian one.

Abu Ismail, a prominent lawyer, was disqualified from the presidential race that brought Mohamed Morsi to power in June 2012 after reports that his mother held a US passport.

During investigations he admitted to have drafted the papers, but he denied knowing that his mother held a US passport.

Under Egypt's election rules, the candidate's parents must be Egyptian and not acquire the citizenship of another country.

He later won a court case against the interior ministry in April 2012 after authorities failed to provide proof that his mother did hold dual nationality.

The number of Americans receiving subsidized food assistance from the federal government has risen to 101 million, representing roughly a third of the U.S. population.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that a total of 101,000,000 people currently participate in at least one of the 15 food programs offered by the agency, at a cost of $114 billion in fiscal year 2012.

That means the number of Americans receiving food assistance has surpassed the number of full-time private sector workers in the U.S.

#2  1984 - Ministries
Ministry of Plenty

Thesis: When controlling parties take over others, those people may rebel and disagree with what the party is for, but yet, they will continue to follow and obey them.

We are "Miniplenty". In our ministry, we look after economic affairs.

Others would say we would starve people, but we want to make sure that the privilleged people get proper food.

Our ministry's job it to make sure that we get everything that we need. We make sure that all the food and items are sent to us. We give out the good food to Inner Party and the alright food to the rest of the parties. Others would say we starve people, but all we do is give better food for those who work in a higher paid job.

Example:

The Inner Party is the upper-class in Oceania. They are privilged. They get better food and drinks. They are able to turn off the telescreens, not like the other people. People such as O'Brien get these privilges.
When Winston was at the Ministry of Love, he was not given much food or drink in which, became very skinny and sick Reduction of the amount of chocolate given to each person. It went from 30 grammes to 20 grammes.

Even though the ministry is controlling over the amount of food and drink the people get, those people would get tortured if they rebel, but would continue to obey the ministry in order to survive.

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

#3  California's unemployment rate dropped to from 8.6% to 8.5% The third quarter that it's dropped.

Curiously enough, that third-quarter drop means that, if you're long-term unemployed, you get to collect your last ten weeks of unemployment compensation.

Officially, the OWG Mighty USSA = OWG Weak USR Global SSR may still be responsible for only 25% like we do per the current UNO - UNOFFICIALLY, we'll still be expected to be the primary Principal under OWG + still pay off most or all of our Debt + the OWG's.

India-Pakistan
Universities undertake research for provision of clean drinking water
More advanced societies figured this out about a hundred-fifty years ago...
ISLAMABAD: Many leading universities of Pakistan are undertaking research in collaboration with foreign universities to resolve the issue of safe and clean drinking water.
You need an advanced degree to know how to purify water?
According to the HEC, Pakistani universities are collaborating with leading American and British universities to undertake the joint research projects throughout the country to ensure the access of clean drinking water.

More than 40 percent of the reported diseases in Pakistan are water-borne, as a majority of the population does not have access to clean drinking water.

Majority of the population depend on open water sources, including canals, rivers and wells, for domestic use, which are at a high-risk of being contaminated.

A study conducted by UNICEF found that around 20-40 percent of the hospital beds in the country were occupied by the patients suffering from water-related diseases, including typhoid, cholera, dysentery and hepatitis, causing one-third of all deaths. The report said, “An estimated 250,000 child deaths occur each year due to water-borne disease.”

#1  to resolve the issue of safe and clean drinking water

Start by not crapping in your water supply; that will solve 90% of your problems.

#2

1) Don't sh*t where you drink.
2) When in doubt, put it on the stove and boil the sh*t out of it for 10min.

There, done. Saved em some money.

#4  Thank you ,Shipman, for your vote of confidence. My recommendations are:
1. Follow big Jim's advice about not s**tting in your water supply. And boil water for drinking.
2. When that is established, and verified, we will talk about pipes and treatment.

#5  Not-shitting-in-your-water-supply is easy.

Keeping everyone else from shitting in your water supply is much harder.

Case closed. I like him but he filibustered. Morgan's a pos...said she speaks (3) languages. I don't think English was one of them. Larry should've said "so she's as fluent in these languages as she is in english?" I would'ved mocked it. That's the most effective thing against statist pseudo intelects like Morgan.
