Heavy rain hit Iran this week, causing casualties and damage in the southern provinces of Fars, Hormozgan and Kerman.
Three children died in the floods in Fars province, where torrents washed away some 400 kilometers (250 miles) of pathways used by local tribes.
A car was also swept away on Thursday morning when a river in Hormozgan province burst its banks, drowning all five passengers including two children.
About 75 villages were cut off from nearby cities due to flooding in the area of Roudan in the same province, some 130 kilometers east of the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.
Sewage and power infrastructure in 52 villages in the Kerman province also suffered damage estimated at 15.4 billion rials ($510,000), the ISNA news agency reported Thursday.
The province also suffered at least $450,000 in damages last week, ISNA said.
Two U.S. B52 strategic bombers flew near artificial Chinese-built islands in the South China Sea this week and were contacted by Chinese ground controllers but continued their mission undeterred, the Pentagon said on Thursday.
The latest U.S. patrol in the disputed South China Sea occurred in advance of President Barack Obama's visit to the region next week to attend Asia-Pacific summits where he is expected the reassert Washington's commitment to freedom of navigation and overflight in the area.
China claims most of the South China Sea, through which more than $5 trillion in global trade passes every year, and the United States has said it will continue conducting patrols to assure unimpeded passage. Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines and Taiwan have rival claims in the region.
In the latest mission, which occurred overnight on Nov. 8-9, the bombers flew "in the area" of the Spratly Islands but did not come within the 12-nautical-mile zones that China claims as territory around islands it has built in the chain, said Commander Bill Urban, a Pentagon spokesman.
"The B-52s were on a routine mission in the SCS (South China Sea)," taking off from and returning to Guam, Urban said.
Chinese ground controllers contacted the bombers but the aircraft continued their mission unabated, Urban said.
"We conduct B-52 flights in international air space in that part of the world all the time," Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook told a news briefing earlier on Thursday.
Last month, a U.S. warship challenged territorial limits around one of China's man-made islands in the Spratly archipelago with a so-called freedom-of-navigation patrol, the most significant U.S. challenge yet to territorial limits China claims around its new islands. China reacted angrily to the patrol.

[AnNahar] Russia on Thursday sentenced a former policeman to 13 years in prison on high treason charges, accusing him of spying for the CIA, the security service said.
The Moscow District Court convicted a former employee of the interior ministry's Moscow region branch, Yevgeny Chistov, of high treason and sentenced him to 13 years in a high-security prison, the FSB security service said in a statement.
"It was established that in 2011, when he served at the Russian interior ministry, E.A. Chistov established contact with U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, acting on his own initiative and out of self interest," the security service said in a statement.
For monetary reward, he collected and passed to the United States work-related information including state secrets for a period of three years, the statement said.
The former policeman pleaded guilty and confirmed that he had been recruited by the CIA and passed state secrets to a foreign intelligence agency, the FSB said.
Since the start of the Ukraine crisis in 2014, numerous people in Russia have been charged with high treason, espionage or disclosing state secrets.
Last month, a court said it had sentenced a man to 12 years in prison for allegedly spying for Ukraine.

HYDERABAD: At least three robbers were killed during an alleged encounter with police in Hyderabad on Thursday. According to the police, the encounter took place at the Bhattai Nagar. The robbers were wanted by police in more than 40 cases of heinous nature. The police also claimed to have recovered arms and a vehicle from them.
