Authorities in Peru have arrested a 33-year-old man who the FBI has charged with making a string of bomb threats targeting US Jewish institutions, including synagogues on Rosh Hashanah.
Eddie Manuel Nunez Santos made more than 150 threats, mostly by email, against synagogues, hospitals, school districts, and other institutions in five states between September 15 and September 21, according to the FBI’s complaint against him, which was unsealed Thursday. Nunez Santos was arrested in Lima on Tuesday, according to the FBI.

The officers and others planned to destabilize the country with the “dark intention of attacking the institutions of the republic and plunging the country into chaos,” the appeal said.
Already that night, a statement from the military prosecutor's office was also published (see screenshot), announcing the start of an investigation and the arrest of four servicemen and the search for two more.
“The military prosecutor’s office invites anyone who can provide information that could help establish the truth to come and testify,” the communiqué says.
A version is being discussed on social networks in Burkina Faso that the people of Alassane Ouattara, the Ivorian leader and France’s closest ally on the Dark Continent, may be behind the coup attempt.

[AFRICANEWS] Four Nigerians were sentenced on appeal on Wednesday to between eight- and 18-years’ imprisonment by the Val-de-Marne Assize Court in La Belle France, for aggravated pimping in an organized gang and human trafficking, with young Nigerian girls forced into prostitution as their victims, in the Bois de Vincennes.
The Nigerians are big in pimping across Europe, especially the underaged.
"The court took into account the extreme seriousness of the charges" and "the way in which these maiden of tender yearss were able to see their humanity denied for mercenary purposes", emphasized the president, Pascale Pérard, as she read out the verdict.
The sentences are like those handed down by the Gay Paree Assize Court, which sentenced the defendants to 10-, 13-, 15- and 19-years’ imprisonment in July 2020. In Creteil, the public prosecutor had requested prison sentences ranging from nine to 18 years.
For Omos Wiseborn, who "actively participated in the organization of this network" according to the prosecution, the court followed the public prosecutor's recommendations and sentenced him to 18 years' imprisonment. An "extremely severe" sentence for his lawyer, Caroline Thévenin, "which does not reflect Omos Wiseborn's real involvement in this criminal network: he was not at the top of the pyramid", she said.
Dennis Brown and Blessing Ubi were sentenced to 12 and 15 years respectively for harboring maiden of tender yearss, forcing them into prostitution, and collecting the money they earned from their nights of sex. They had previously been sentenced to 13- and 15-years’ imprisonment.
Emmanuel Aiwansosa, on trial for performing a forced child sacrifice abortion on one of the civil parties and for aggravated procuring, has been sentenced to eight years' imprisonment, compared with ten years at first instance.
"It's a decision that won't shock my client," said Catherine Delanoë Daoud, lawyer for Gloria (first name changed), who was 14 years old at the time of the events, and who had told the court about her savage, forced child sacrifice abortion last Thursday.
The four Nigerians had been on trial since September 19 for recruiting maiden of tender yearss, some of them minors, in Nigeria on false promises of jobs or studies, and organizing their perilous journey to La Belle France, where once they arrived, they were forced to work as hookers in the Bois de Vincennes.
Throughout the hearing, the defendants acknowledged the facts, but sought to minimize their role and involvement. They also expressed regret and apologized to the victims, who had recounted their ordeal to the court.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a federal body, said Black workers had routinely endured stereotyping, racial insults and hostility since at least 2015.
The court action, which follows a breakdown in mediation, adds federal charges to discrimination claims already filed by the state of California, lawsuits by individual Tesla employees, and a class action suit involving about 240 workers.
The electric car company "subjected Black employees at its manufacturing facilities in Fremont, California ... to severe or pervasive racial harassment and created and maintained a hostile work environment because of their race," the lawsuit said.
"The racial misconduct was frequent, ongoing, inappropriate, unwelcome and occurred across all shifts, departments and positions," the commission said.
The suit said the factory walls had graffiti that included swastikas, nooses and threats, with some of it allegedly on vehicles rolling off the production line.
The commission said Black workers routinely endured racist slurs including variations of the "N-word," along with "monkey" and "boy".
"Slurs were used casually and openly in high-traffic areas and at worker hubs," according to the commission.
Tesla announced last year that the EEOC had formally raised concerns about the situation at the factory.

[FoxNews] Experts on San Francisco, drugs and crime responded to San Francisco Mayor London Breed's Tuesday proposal to require residents who wish to receive welfare services to comply with mandatory drug testing and treatment programs.
Breed's announcement comes amid growing pressure to hold back the city’s homeless and fentanyl crises and as challengers to Breed as mayor continue to throw their name in for office in 2024.
"She's in trouble," former San Francisco councilman and business owner Tony Hall told FOX News Digital. "She's found her administration is under increasing fire from the voters in San Francisco. She has to do something about the drug situation in San Francisco. So this is her latest salvo, trying to sound like a conservative in that she's really doing something. She does this periodically whenever she's in trouble. There's no follow through."
[DailyWire] Tennessee lawmakers are looking at rejecting federal dollars for public education and replacing them with state dollars in a move that would make Tennessee the first in the nation to turn down federal education funding.
Republican leadership in the state announced the formation of a panel to look at the impact of federal education funding in Tennessee and the “strings” that can come attached with that funding.
“Any time the federal government sends money, there are always strings attached to those dollars, and there is always a possibility that it opens the state up to other regulations or restrictions,” said Republican House Speaker Cameron Sexton. “This working group will help provide a clearer picture of how much autonomy Tennessee truly has in educating our students.”
Sexton announced on Monday the formation of a 10-member Joint Working Group to look at whether the state can fund education without utilizing federal funds. The panel, which will have members of both the state House and Senate, will have eight Republicans and two Democrats.
“The education of our youth is one of the essential responsibilities of our government,” said Lt. Gov. Randy McNally. “Federal dollars and the various mandates and restrictions that come with those dollars affect the way Tennessee’s children are educated. Due to our state’s excellent financial position, this is a worthy subject of examination and study.”
Sexton previously discussed turning down $1.8 billion in federal education funding during the last regular legislative session, but the proposal never ended up advancing.
“We as a state can lead the nation once again in telling the federal government that they can keep their money and we’ll just do things the Tennessee way,” Sexton said earlier this year. “And that should start, first and foremost, with the Department of Education.”
Democrats in Tennessee oppose the move, with state Senator Raumesh Akbari claiming that there would be “harsh consequences” if Tennessee rejected federal funding.
Tennessee has established itself as one of the more conservative states in the country, moving to ban sex change procedures on minors, moving to protect children from sexually explicit performances, and overwhelmingly rejecting proposed “red flag” legislation in the past year despite heavy pressure from Left-wing activist groups.
