Obama Won
By traditional metrics, Barack Obama’s presidency was mostly a failure. The economy, in a new first, never hit annualized growth of 3 percent. His signature domestic policy‐Obamacare‐caused chaos. Millions lost their coverage and doctors, and paid far more in deductibles and premiums. The stagnant recovery after the 2008 recession was the worst in 50 years.

Myriads of new regulations, higher taxes, and socialist jawboning vegetated the economy. Scandals at the IRS, Department of Veterans Affairs, FBI, CIA, National Security Agency, Justice Department, General Services Administration, and National Security Council abounded. Obama weaponized the federal government by punishing opponents through the IRS, monitoring suspect reporters, scapegoating and jailing a video maker, and using the deep state to exonerate Hillary Clinton from serial wrongdoing and to sabotage the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.

Abroad, a diplomatic "reset" empowered Vladimir Putin’s Russia from the Crimea to the Middle East. The Iran deal legitimized Iran’s ascendant Middle East hegemony. Chinese trade cheating was of no concern. ISIS was but a "JV" terrorist clique. North Korea freely pointed nuclear missiles at the West Coast. Israel and the Gulf monarchies and Egypt were no longer close allies. Outreach and deference instead were shown to Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. "Lead from behind" bombing of Libya led to a disaster. Nonexistent "red lines" in Syria, flexible nonproliferation "deadlines" issued to Iran, and rhetorical "step-over" lines given Vladimir Putin all eroded U.S. credibility. And on and on.

#5  Don't forget about all the part time jobs that were made out of many full time jobs so employers could avoid having to pay anything towards their insurance. Who could have foreseen that!

Except, of course, for the folks who kept track of unemployment, who considered anyone with a part time job as being employed, of course.

#6  I liked how every jobs report came out and the media hailed it, and then a month later it was all downgraded to reality and the media was silent. Happened every single time. Even the media is not dumb enough to fall for the same trick again and again, they were complicit and I hope a lot of them are losing sleep (and hair) during the current administration.

Highest Paying Jobs in America
[Money Watch] Americans eager for a high-paying job might want to focus on two industries: health care and technology.

That's because 18 out of the 25 highest-paying jobs are within those two sectors, according to a new analysis of salary data from employment site Glassdoor. The study analyzed data for job titles with at least 100 salary reports each.

Many of the occuapations highlighted by Glassdoor require years of training and study, which may prove impractical for those considering a mid-career shift. Yet there are some tech jobs open to those willing to get training or to acquire skills through hands-on experience, such as data scientist, said Amanda Stansell, an economic research analyst at Glassdoor.

"Job-seekers can look at the people in these roles and see how did they get to these roles and ask, 'Do I want to invest in these degrees?'" Stansell said. "We know that pay is one of the most important factors when people are looking at jobs."

Yet research also indicates that pay isn't what keeps workers happy. Once they are working in their new roles, employees say they're most satisfied by issues such as trust in senior leadership and workplace culture.

Ex-Czech President Calls For 'Revolution' Of European Countries Against EU
[Hot Air] Another voice has weighed in on the current state of disarray in the European Union over questions of immigration, globalism and national identity.

The Washington Times was able to interview former Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus this week and he shared some rather remarkable views about the future of the continent. In a wide-ranging discussion, Klaus talks about the need for a "revolution" in European nations, but not of the violent sort.

Making references to his own nation’s Velvet Revolution of nearly thirty years ago, he calls for a renewed recognition of independence and a rejection of the type of absolute control the EU is seeking to exert over its member nations.

Globalism no longer trendy. It's not just Trump. Much of America has turned its back on Europe
BLUF:
[Guardian] A former US secretary of state tells me just how little interest audiences across the country now express in foreign policy. Anyone who experiences American airports, highways, trains or schools can easily understand why Americans would now want to focus more on improving them rather than airstrips and schools in Afghanistan or Iraq. America First is not just a Trump slogan. It is a national mood, to which even the most internationalist president would have to adapt.

Trump is awful, but in this respect, he is as much symptom as cause. The problem of transatlantic divergence was there before Trump, has underlying causes deeper than Trump, and will still be with us after Trump.

To be sure, the 100 years of on-off transatlantic partnership since the Meuse-Argonne offensive of September 1918 have left a massive legacy: the biggest, closest, international economic intertwining in the world; the Nato security alliance, with a renewed mutual defence commitment thanks to Putin; as well as a matchless cultural and intellectual intimacy. The transatlantic west is still a mighty, muscular body ‐ but with a wandering mind, a weakened heart and a divided soul.

Dianne Feinstein: I Didn't Leak Dr. Ford's Letter To The Media - Must Have Been My Driver
[Hot Air] Late in the hearing today there was an exchange involving Sens. Cruz, Cornyn, and Feinstein over who leaked Christine Blasey Ford’s letter to the media. It began with Sen. Cruz accusing Democrats of leaking the letter to the media. "Dr. Ford told this committee that the only people to whom she gave her letter were her attorneys, the ranking member, and her Member of Congress," Cruz said. He continued, "And she stated that she and her attorneys did not release the letter which means the only people that could have released that letter were either the ranking member and her staff or the Democratic Member of Congress...That is not a fair process."

#2  The Katz and Company team of attorneys probably released a summary of the letter to the media giving most of the talking points they wanted. And Feinstein referred Ford to Katz and Company.

If so the denials are technically accurate but intentionally misleading.

#4  Feinstein looked awfully feeble sitting there with her staff coaching her on what to say. She really needs to retire. Hopefully, California voters will make that decision for her in November.

And she really is the main villain in all of this. Dr. Ford is an old birdbrain who did not appear to understand the gravity of her situation. Possibly she is also a pathological liar but, still, not capable of understanding everything that was happening.

If Feinstein had a shred of decency she would have told Ford to forget the whole thing because there was no evidence. Instead she let this poor, befuddled sinecurist make a fool of herself in front of the whole world while besmirching the character of a good man.

If Feinstein wasn't such a Machiavellian she would have been forthright with Ford, "No, dear. You don't get to come out of the woodwork at the eleventh hour before a confirmation vote and demand an FBI investigation without any credible evidence."

But then, Feinstein is a Democrat and that's just the way they are.

Catholic magazine 'un-endorses' Brett Kavanaugh, American Bar Association demands an FBI investigation
Prof. Ford and high-powered legal team provided absolutely no evidence.
[THE WEEK] Not everyone was as impressed with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's testimony Thursday as the man who nominated him, President Trump. Hours after the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing adjourned and a Friday morning confirmation vote affirmed, the American Bar Association urged the Senate to hit pause until after an FBI investigation and the prominent Jesuit magazine America rescinded its endorsement of Kavanaugh and urged his nomination withdrawn.

America's editors and the ABA gave similar reasons: Christine Blasey Ford's assault testimony was credible enough to merit a full investigation, and America needs to have confidence in the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh, a Catholic who attended a Jesuit high school, and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), his most impassioned supporter, both held up the ABA's unanimous well-qualified rating in Thursday's hearing as a marker of his character and judgment.

"The basic principles that underscore the Senate's constitutional duty of advice and consent on federal judicial nominees require nothing less than a careful examination of the accusations and facts by the FBI," ABA president Robert Carlson wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee. "Deciding to proceed without conducting additional investigation would not only have a lasting impact on the Senate's reputation, but it will also negatively affect the great trust necessary for the American people to have in the Supreme Court."

#9  The American Bar Association was taken over by leftists over 20 years ago, and no longer deserves to be considered an impartial arbiter of judges' qualifications. Graham: ‘If You're Looking for a Fair Process, You Came to the Wrong Town'
[National Review] In an impassioned statement delivered during Brett Kavanaugh’s Thursday hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina lambasted his Democratic colleagues for concealing the allegations of sexual assault levied by Christine Ford.

"If you wanted an FBI investigation you could have come to us. What you want to do is destroy this guy’s life, hold this seat open, and hope you win in 2020. You’ve said that, not me," Graham shouted. "This is the most unethical sham since I’ve been in politics and if you really wanted to know the truth, you certainly wouldn’t have done what you did to this guy."

"Boy y’all want power, God I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham, that you knew about it and you held it, you had no intention of protecting Dr. Ford, none!" he added. "I hate to say it because these have been my friends, but if you were looking for a fair process, you came to the wrong town at the wrong time."

Fox News Gregg Jarrett: Hirono should 'shut the hell up' about allegations against Kavanaugh
[The Hill] Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett said Thursday Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono (Hawaii) should "shut the hell up" when it comes to speaking out against sexual assault allegations.

Jarrett appeared on Fox Business' "Lou Dobbs Tonight" to discuss Thursday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearings with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

Jarrett told the panel that Hirono, one of four women who sit on the committee, should not be taken seriously because she thinks all men are to blame for sexual assault.

"Hirono is not serious because she believes that all men in America are responsible for sexual assault. All men should shut up," Jarrett said.

"No, Senator Hirono should shut the hell up," Jarrett continued.

Dobbs then cut to commercial break by joking that the group would "shut up just for a moment."

The Hill has reached out to Hirono’s office for comment.

ICE checks if the Fords ever employed illegals. FBI interviewing every f*cking student ever came in contact with here since she started teaching. Ah, and somebody going over her published papers to find research irregularities (there are sure to be some).
And I want all these things because turnaround is fair play.

Megyn Kelly: Blasey Ford's Testimony Planted ‘Seeds of Doubt' About Kavanaugh Accusation
[Free Beacon] Megyn Kelly, host of NBC's "Megyn Kelly Today" and a former defense attorney, on Thursday argued there are several key weaknesses of the sexual assault allegation against Supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Kelly spoke directly after Ford’s testimony, in which she described an alleged attempted sexual assault by Kavanaugh, and addressed its impact on her credibility. "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd said Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell failed to "undermine her credibility," but Kelly said that wouldn’t have been the right line of argument for Republicans in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"I don't think they were trying to undermine, completely put a lie to the story, because that's not possible. It's her memory," Kelly told Todd.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegation. Ford says she does not remember where or when the gathering occurred during which she was assaulted, and none of the others she says were present have backed up her story.

Kelly still credited Ford for being "sincere" and bringing a "compelling" testimony.

"She's a compelling witness. She absolutely seemed sincere," Kelly added. "I don't think they're dumb enough to think the people at home are going to reject that testimony as completely false. What they were trying to do is plant little markers."

Kelly said those markers came at various points during Mitchell’s questioning.

#3  I understand that Ford travels by airplane a lot. Then she used fear of flying as an excuse not to fly cross country to testify. She also mentioned in her testimony that driving was better than being cooped up in an airplane (or something to that) effect. That comment just rolled off her tongue like all the rest of her testimony. I also heard somewhere that she was in Baltimore when she said she didn't want to fly cross country, so she had to decline to agree to someone flying over to the West coast to interview her, my guess is probably because the explanation for the disconnect would be awkward.

Is any/all of this wrong? Right?

Saleh Ali: Terrorism Doesn't Need Organization
BLUF:
[Victory Girls] So when the extremists here take it upon themselves to demonstrate their displeasure with their lot in life by staging attacks, they don’t need a terrorist affiliation. They don’t need formal ties to terrorist organizations. They need a computer and an internet connection. And that’s why law enforcement will many times confirm that there is not link to terrorist organizations, because ISIS and AQ probably won’t even know these troglodytes exist until they launch an attack, at which point the terrorist group can claim responsibility and laud the malcontent for striking at the enemy.

I doubt this means the police are somehow trying to downplay the terrorism angle.

It simply means they have found no connection to any formal terrorist organization, even though they may be guided or inspired by ISIS or others.

Genetic-Testing Startup Expands Beyond Cancer to Mental Health
[Bloomberg] A decade ago, Othman Laraki was working as a product manager at Google when he found out he was a carrier of a harmful BRCA2 gene mutation, one associated with a high risk of cancer.

It wasn’t a complete surprise -- his grandmother had died from breast cancer and his mother was a carrier of the mutation who had survived the disease twice. Still, it set his brain in motion. He’d been carrying around potential life-saving data in his body his entire life but had no easy way to access it.

"This information should be available and usable before people get sick," said Laraki. "And not after you’ve had multiple people in your family die of cancer."

Thus was born Color Genomics, a genetic-testing company co-founded in 2013 by Laraki that has attracted $150 million in investments from big names including billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs and the venture capital firm General Catalyst. Just this week, the Burlingame, California-based startup scored funding from the National Institutes of Health to analyze genomic data for the agency’s All of Us research program.

After first launching with a clinical-grade test for 19 genes associated with common hereditary cancers in 2015, the company on Thursday rolled out a significant expansion that seeks to capture a far larger swath of the booming genetic-testing market.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon’s weapons of mass deception
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A founding pillar of Leb, or at least the Lebanese like to promote, is its people’s ability to act as a bridge between East and West and to retain excellent relationships with their Arab surroundings.

This, however, is a thing of the past as successive Lebanese government actions and policies saw Leb drift and finally falls prey to the Iranian sphere of influence thus alienating Leb from its Arab surroundings.

Luckily enough, Leb’s full alienation was stalled when PM Saad Hariri

Michael Z. Williamson: Yes, Women Lie About Rape, All The Fucking Time
The language might be a bit strong for some

...An acquaintance is an EEO officer for a large military installation. Divorce is sadly common in the military due to relocations, duty cycles, separations for deployment, and occasionally for things like infidelity (less than you might expect. There's a half-joke about "Are you married?" "No, I'm temporary duty." And a lot of couples tolerate or enjoy that just to take some of the stress off, with the understanding that once those months or years of separation are done, they're a couple)(they're not asking for your moral judgment, so stuff it).

He reports that several times a MONTH, a woman (spouse) filing for divorce would come in, and accuse the service member of abuse, violations, etc.

He could immediately tell which ones were fake. They were literally word for word from a popular TV show episode about this.

But, every one of these cases must be "investigated," which pulls someone off duty for questioning, and impedes anything in their mission that involves a security clearance, and costs YOU, the taxpayer, tens of thousands of dollars.

Because some lying whore wants a bigger cut of a pension, or to fuck someone's career over and hurt them for life because they're angry at how their life isn't a fairy tale.

You know who else suffers from this?

ACTUAL VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS of abuse and sexual assault, who try to speak, and get a response of (eyeroll), oh, god, not this shit again.

So when Christine Ford can't remember if it was 2, 4, or 6 people present at a party where she admits she was drinking underage, or where it was, or how she got there, or how she got home, and didn't tell anyone, and 6 of the 4 witnesses say it never happened, and she couldn't get to Congress on Monday because she's terrified of flying, but has 100,000 frequent flyer miles from vacationing in the Pacific...

It's reasonable to assume she's LYING about remembering absolutely that it was a candidate she opposes politically, who belongs to a party she's publicly vowed to hinder in any way possible.

And stop with the bullshit that she has "nothing to gain," because she's already gained $500,000 from a gofundme, notoriety, headlines, and may even get a book deal. And most importantly, might fuck with our constitutional process to make it easier for her Nazi fucking Demorrhoid Party to control the government.

She's a lying whore, and anyone with any analytical sense has known that from the beginning.
Personally I believe she's telling the truth - the spirit of Emmett Till told me "Believe All Women"

#1  The only thing I am sure about at this very moment is that I am sitting in my recliner typing on my laptop with a cup of strong coffee at my side. And that's the truth. Everything else requires analysis.

#2  I never considered the gofundme angle but I guess I'm a little inexperienced in these matters. But I bet she gets a book deal too.

#3  I bet she's discarded when she is no longer useful. Just like Cindy Sheehan. If she's smart she'll realize that now and capitalize on it while she can. But then again she's the one who by her own story was not raped and that has crippled her with anxiety for decades despite no real memories of the event so she might be too fragile to handle it when the left forgets her.

Radical Abortion Supporters Campaign to Censor Pro-Lifers
[Free Beacon] A group of radical abortion supporters are asking Twitter to prevent pro-life activists from promoting their tweets.

Reproaction, an activist group aimed at "increasing abortion access," is circulating a petition to censor pro-life content on the social media site. The group says Twitter should not have reversed its controversial decision to block a 2017 ad from Tennessee Senate candidate Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R., Tenn.) that featured her discussing Planned Parenthood's organ harvesting operations. The controversy led a Twitter official to apologize to Blackburn during a July House Judiciary Committee hearing on social media bias.

Reproaction said the company was wrong to apologize to the Republican congresswoman. It wants social media sites to apply the ban on Blackburn to other pro-life arguments and activists. Ads like Blackburn's should be purged from Twitter as "dangerous rhetoric" prohibited under the site's ban on "ads making misleading or deceptive claims," according to Reproaction.

"Stop bending to the will of anti-abortion leaders who seek to spread lies and misinformation," the petition says. "Stop the spread of pro-life lies."

One of the groups that has previously been censored by Twitter said the petition is the latest attempt by pro-abortion forces to marshal private companies to silence conservative voices. Susan B. Anthony List, a group that works to elect pro-life women, has seen a number of ads and promoted Tweets restricted by social media sites and radio stations, including one spot that featured a pro-life quote from Mother Teresa. SBA List spokeswoman Mallory Quigley said censorship campaigns are a sign of desperation.

Those Who Unmake Civilization
h/t Instapundit
I've been listening to crazy people saying things like someone isn't entitled to the presumption of innocence, or that an accusation that is not only unproven but unprovable is "corroborated" in growing alarm. What goes through my mind is "this is the way you un-make civilization.

Part of the problem is that our civilization ‐ arguably, at least in terms of keeping the most people alive and in relative comfort ‐ is not normal in the history of the world.

This strange idea that each individual has rights, that the rights are inherent to them, that they deserve to be given due process, and not simply destroyed because someone ‐ anyone, or one of their betters ‐ accused them of something, is not only bizarre in terms of historical societies. It’s also something that took a long time to work itself through.

And ever since it’s been created there have been attempts to take it back to "normal human society."
