Tucker Carlson visits Moscow Metro station (short video)
[Carlson Network] In 2022, NATO and other allied governments, led by the United States, imposed a myriad of economic sanctions on Russia. The goal was obvious: punish Vladimir Putin by turning his country into a pariah state, isolated from the post-war West and forced to fend for itself as long as the war in Ukraine continued.

During his trip to Moscow to interview Putin, Tucker explored how the city has fared since those sanctions took effect. Has it been reduced to poverty and anarchy as some had hoped? Or has it turned out that Russia doesn't need the West as much as everyone thought?

Today's episode of TC Shorts, part one of a three-part series, offers a glimpse into everyday life in Moscow. It may shock you. Click the image below to watch.

#1  Wasn't it Mussolini that made the trains run on time?
Posted by: AlanC || 02/16/2024 10:51 Comments || Top||

#2  I see this more as an indictment of America and American politicians than an endorsement of Russian dictators.

I was watching Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest the other day on TCM. The movie showed Cary Grant in New York's Grand Central Station and on board a train bound for Chicago. Everything was clean. There was no graffiti, no hobos, no rats, no trash. Of course that's just a movie from 1959 but what would today's movies show? Oh, I know. They'd show low-life barbarians getting into brawls at the airport. Now it's not just the trains that are dirty, crowded and unreliable, it's the airplanes. To me that's an indication of a society in decline.

I saw the same thing for myself in Japan. Their trains are clean and always on time. They run like clockwork. I compare that with the San Diego Trolley and it makes me depressed. I'm confronted with the fact that they are more civilized than we are and the Japanese manage it without resorting to dictatorship.

I get another hint from Tucker's video: economic sanctions are not only chickenshit but they are totally ineffective.

#3  #2 Yes, One thing people notice when getting older you have time to compare before and after. Retired police or Fema each say what is this country becoming. It didn't take long for our infrastructure to crumble.

[Regnum] Alexei Navalny (included in the list of persons involved in extremism and terrorism) died in a correctional colony. This was reported to the Federal Penitentiary Service of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

It is noted that the blogger died on February 16.

“The convicted Navalny A.A. felt bad after the walk, almost immediately losing consciousness. The institution’s medical workers arrived immediately and an emergency medical team was called,” the Federal Penitentiary Service said in a statement.

It is indicated that all necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, but they could not help Navalny. Emergency doctors pronounced him dead.
"We stood around waiting for him to die. He did"
“The causes of death are being established,” the Federal Penitentiary Service added.
Acute Putinitis
The blogger served his sentence in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, in the famous “Polar Wolf” - colony No. 3, in the village of Kharp, where he was transferred from the Vladimir region and regularly ended up in a punishment cell.

On August 4 last year, Alexei Navalny was sentenced to 19 years in a special regime colony in the case of creating an extremist community. The prosecutor requested a 20-year prison term for him. In addition, the prosecutor requested 10 years in a general regime colony for another person involved in the case - Daniel Kholodny, the former technical director of one of Navalny’s YouTube channels. He is accused of financing an extremist organization and participating in an extremist community.

Navalny was first imprisoned in February 2021. Then the Simonovsky Court of Moscow revoked his suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case and replaced it with 3.5 years in a general regime colony. The decision was made due to numerous violations of probation by the blogger.

In 2021, the Babushkinsky District Magistrate Court of Moscow found Navalny guilty under Part 2 of Art. 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Slander”) in the case of insulting a WWII veteran. He was given a fine of 850,000 rubles. (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent)

by Vera Perun

Despite the composition of the situation in Avdiivka, the city is not surrounded, although it is subject to heavy fire from the enemy.

Dmytro Lykhova, the spokesman of the operational-strategic group of troops "Tavria" told about this on the air of the telethon

"Although supplies and evacuation are complicated, a spare logistical artery was used, which was prepared in advance. Hence, the main conclusion is that Avdievka is not surrounded, although Russian propaganda may trumpet this," said Lykhovi.

He emphasized that the situation is constantly changing, and the military will not show and comment on the events in this direction in real time, as it is dangerous for the soldiers and may lead to disruption of operations.

Lykhovii also reported that in the past day, on February 14, the enemy carried out 43 airstrikes, conducted 64 combat engagements and launched 1,080 artillery barrages in the entire operational zone of the "Tavria" air defense system. "And the lion's share of each of these figures is the Avdiiv direction, a barrage of fire, and this is evidence of the advantage that, unfortunately, the enemy has in manpower, aviation and artillery," said the spokesman of the OSU.

He added that at the same time, the enemy's losses in manpower amounted to 526 people, and almost all of them - in the Avdiiv direction.

"On Avdiivka, both the resources and the reserves of the Russian army are being depleted at a frantic pace," Lykhovi emphasized.

In the evening briefing on February 15, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 14 attacks in the Avdiivka area and 1 more attack near Pervomaisky, Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, continues to try to capture the city.

Commander of "Tavria" troops Tarnavskyi: "The situation in Avdiivka is difficult, but under control"
In the threatening directions, the units "carry out maneuvers and reinforce."

Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the operational-strategic commander of the "Tavria" troop group, characterized the situation in Avdiivka as of 11:00 p.m. on February 15 as "difficult, but controlled."

In a post in his Telegram, the brigadier general reported that decisions had been made to reinforce units and conduct maneuvers in the most threatening directions. The military received an additional resource of ammunition and means of defeating the enemy.

Taking into account all possible scenarios, new positions and powerful fortifications are being prepared. Commanders carry out tasks in accordance with the plan of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to stabilize the situation. Troop management remains stable and effective.

General Tarnavskyi emphasized that the command values every piece of Ukrainian land, but the highest priority remains the preservation of the life of the Ukrainian soldier.

Even the White House is talking about the risk of Avdiyivka being captured by the Russians. There they complain that the Ukrainian military does not have enough ammunition due to the Republicans' delay in approving security assistance.
The spokesman of the "Tavria" group, Dmytro Lykhova, emphasized that, despite the heavy fire of the enemy, Avdiyivka is not surrounded.

During the day, Defense Forces aircraft carried out strikes on 12 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated. Units of the missile forces struck 2 areas where personnel were concentrated, one artillery piece, one ammunition train, and one enemy radar station.

Let us recall that from February 24, 2022 to February 15, 2024, the total combat losses of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine amounted to approximately 399,090 people. Over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces destroyed 950 invaders, nine tanks, 54 artillery systems and 33 UAVs.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the destruction of the Russian ship, and the Main Intelligence Directorate released a video of a drone attack on Caesar Kunikov. The Main Intelligence Directorate posted a video confirming that only an “oily stain” remained from the Russian large landing ship Caesar Kunikov.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Two members of the group, which planned attacks on security forces, were detained in Stary Achkhoi and are giving confessions, the head of Chechnya said.

As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, on the night of February 14, in the village of Stary Achkhoy, Achkhoy-Martan district of Chechnya, three unknown persons armed with firearms attacked a policeman. They were killed by return fire. The Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for Chechnya reported that one police officer was injured.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that two people were detained after a shootout in Stary Achkhoi. “During a special operation, police officers eliminated three criminals who offered armed resistance during arrest. During the special operation, two more members of the bandit group were detained and confessed,” he wrote today in his Telegram channel.

According to Kadyrov, “the gang members planned to commit a number of crimes and attacks on the lives of law enforcement officers.”

The armed incident in the Achkhoy-Martan region was the first in 11 months after an attack on a police post in Gudermes occurred on March 29, 2023 as a result of which two people were killed by security forces.

Investigator confirms information about the shootout in Chechnya

As a result of a shootout in the village of Stary Achkhoi, one policeman was wounded, the investigation is establishing the identities of the three killed who attacked the security forces, the Investigative Committee reported today.

As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, today sources reported that three people were killed in the Achkhoy-Martan region after they entered into a shootout with security forces. There was no confirmation of this information from the authorities and security forces.

According to investigators, on the night of February 14, in the village of Stary Achkhoi, three unknown men armed with firearms attacked a policeman. They were killed by return fire. As a result of the attack, a policeman was wounded, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for Chechnya reported today.

“During the inspection of the scene, investigators seized two firearms and ammunition. Currently, the investigation is establishing the identities of the attackers and all the circumstances of the crime,” the department said in a statement on its website.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Attempt on a law enforcement officer ( provides for up to 20 years in prison,” the Caucasian Knot note ), the department noted.

After the shootout in Srary Achkhoy, Mezhiev called on residents of Chechnya to keep an eye on their families

Mufti of Chechnya Salakh Mezhiev, commenting on the shootout in the village of Stary Achkhoy, updated the principle of collective responsibility, reminding residents of the republic of the need to look after their families.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that two members of the group, which was planning attacks on security forces, were also detained. According to him, they confessed.

Mufti of Chechnya Salakh Mezhiev commented today on the shootout in the village of Stary Achkhoy. He noted that it is the duty of Muslims “to protect, to guard their families from such evil, to monitor them, to ensure that they learn true and correct Islam.” “We have mosques everywhere, people who know religion - there are all the opportunities for those who want to learn pure Islam. But those who are looking for another path read dirty interpretations and wrong trends on the Internet,” the Chechnya Today agency quoted the mufti as saying.

“I appeal to the residents of our republic - look after your families, this is entrusted to us, because you will have to answer for them before the Almighty,” Mezhiev called.

"Caucasian Knot" reader elton.sroeder doubted the version voiced by the head of Chechnya about the preparation of attacks on security forces.

“Where did five armed militants suddenly come from in the “safest and most peaceful region of the world”? Where have they been hiding until now? It is absurd to say that those killed were planning something there. Five people decided to oppose several tens of thousands of armed Kadyrovites alone? They “They either have to be crazy or suicide fanatics to decide to do this, plus not think at all about their relatives and friends, who, after their destruction, will be subjected to full pressure,” he wrote.

Ramzan Kadyrov previously recalled the principle of collective responsibility. If a person who has committed a crime against public safety or law enforcement officers escapes, the security forces must punish one of his relatives, Ramzan Kadyrov said on January 2, explaining this by Chechen traditions.

Earlier, on December 5, 2014, after the militant attack on Grozny, Ramzan Kadyrov announced the introduction of the principle of collective responsibility for the families of members of the armed underground. The head of Chechnya said, in particular, that relatives of militants  would be expelled from the republic, and their houses would be demolished.

This was followed by a series of renunciations by relatives of critics of the authorities and those accused of terrorist crimes; social network users noted that they did not believe in the sincerity of such words.

Novaya Gazeta previously noted that  the principle of collective responsibility, which the security forces in Chechnya use in the fight against militants, is ineffective in modern conditions.

Current information on the situation on the front line: February 15 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 23:57 Official summary of the DPR Representative Office in the JCCC from 00:00 02/15/2024 to 00:00 02/16/2024.

Five facts of armed attacks by the UFU were recorded by the DPR Representative Office in the JCCC over the past 24 hours.

Three civilians were reported injured.

DAMAGED:
No damage to residential buildings and civil infrastructure was recorded.

  • Two artillery attacks in the Donetsk direction

  • Two artillery attacks in the Gorlovka direction

  • One artillery attack in the Volnovakha direction.

A total of 15 units of various ammunition were fired.
22:30 Front bird reports: Avdeevskoe direction. 15.02 22:25

It is reported that our troops are advancing not only from the east, but also from the south towards Avdeevka.

Due to massive artillery fire and airborne forces attacks, the enemy is forced to abandon positions and retreat northward.

21:44 Telegram channel “Fisherman":

Battle for Avdievka: collapse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defense in the south and a breakthrough in the east, the situation as of 21.00 February 15, 2024

Over the past three hours, the situation near Avdeevka has changed. In addition to the news about the capture of part of the air defense and the Zenit fortified area, good news also came from the eastern flank.

Despite rather contradictory reports from the territory of the former anti-aircraft unit, units of the 1st Slavic Brigade in the published video stand calmly, without fear of shots, from which we can conclude that the clearing of the unit has either already taken place or will take place as usual. The defense on the territory of the unit was held by an incomplete company of the enemy.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are also retreating in the area of the ill-fated Donetsk filtration station into neighboring forest plantations west of the N-20 highway. However, they are unlikely to stay there for long, given the advance of the Russian Armed Forces along the sand pit.

Our team was able to establish the location where a Russian fighter is placing a flag near the entrance to AKHZ. The territory adjacent to the industrial zone and several administrative buildings, including the Brevno fortified area, came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

This became possible after the assault troops, under the cover of aviation, secured a foothold at the Avdeevskaya motor depot and advanced north-west through the Alter Group to the plant management building. The fire station and cafeteria are currently in the gray zone.

Despite the obvious successes, the Russian Army has yet to capture the Cheburashka fortified area. However, the advance of the Vinogradniki-2 gardening partnership in the area can make this task easier. It’s the same in the north: the building of the Avdeevsky Coke and Chemical Plant is one large fortified area with many shelters, which cannot be taken at a glance.

21:20 Engineer Mi-28 told on preparing aircraft for combat missions.

An engineer of the Mi-28 aviation complex, Maxim, in the special military operation zone, is engaged in the preparation and maintenance of aviation equipment before combat missions.

With the flight crew, says Maxim, the attitude is wonderful, human: “The pilots are great fellows, they perform very serious tasks every day that involve risking their lives, so they deserve respect. They respect the engineering staff, just as the engineering staff respect them.”

The aircraft technician adds that he is ready to perform his job duties at any time of the day and in any weather.

Maxim conveys warm greetings to his wife and parents: “I miss you very much! I love! I’ll be home soon, wait!”

The serviceman sends a special greeting to his uncle, who also performs his duties on the front line: “He’s a great fellow! The most important thing is that he is alive and well and everything is fine with him.”

“Yes, victory will be ours, of course! Because we make every effort to achieve this,” Maxim is sure.

21:02 Military personnel of the “Center” group master Tank support combat vehicles "Terminator"

During the training, military personnel study the performance characteristics of a combat vehicle, train high-speed driving and direct fire and indirect firing positions. During practical operations, military personnel study combat tactics, the use of communications equipment and standard aerosol camouflage equipment.

After passing the final exam, all military personnel of the Center group of forces who have completed training will be sent to combat units to carry out military defense tasks as part of BMPT crews.

The Terminator tank support combat vehicle is a multi-purpose, highly protected fire support tracked combat vehicle with powerful weapons, modern fire control devices and high maneuverability. The Terminator is capable of hitting lightly armored targets, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. One of the features of these combat vehicles is the ability, together with military air defense, to fight helicopters and low-flying low-speed enemy targets.

20:27 Telegram channel “Fisherman":

Only recently we reported on successes in the industrial zone south of Avdievka; another very joyful and long-awaited news arrived.

Soldiers of the 1st Slavic Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces planted flags on the territory of the Zenit fortified area, also known as the former military unit A-1428. Fights for this area have been going on since December 2022, and it has become notorious since 2015.

Coordinates: 48.098309 37.754203

This was the first video confirmation of the control of Russian units over an important fortified area, which will simplify the further assault on Avdeevka.

The fate of the members of the Ukrainian formations is not known for certain: according to some reports, some of them surrendered, and some units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to retreat.

The next step will be the capture of the Cheburashka fortified area, which, obviously, will become the next target of the assault groups on the way to the Khimik microdistrict.

19:45 Front-line soldier reports: The defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Avdievka is closer than ever to collapse!

Be kind!

18:33 Night hunt: crews of Russian tanks hit Ukrainian Armed Forces targets in the Artemovsk direction

During night combat work, tank crews of the “Southern” group of troops destroyed Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold. Once locked into the terrain, tank crews fire a series of shots and then move to the next firing points. Working along a suspended trajectory, tankers hit reconnoitered targets at a distance of up to five kilometers, delivering fire strikes on mortar positions and rotation routes of Ukrainian militants.

18:01 Soldiers of the maneuver assault group perform combat missions in the South Donetsk direction

Soldiers of the maneuver-assault group of the 5th Army of the Vostok group of troops from Primorye work on the most dangerous sectors of the front in the area of the North Military District.

Assault troikas are on duty along the entire front line of the South Donetsk direction. On the front line, they try to keep their distance from each other, but at the same time the whole team acts coherently. While the machine gunner diverts the main attention to himself with dense fire, the sniper can calmly work on targets, remaining unnoticed.

All actions of attack aircraft must be corrected from the air. Drone operators are always on duty nearby and immediately inform the group of any danger. If necessary, they can provide fire support.

“Our task is to identify the enemy, inflict fire damage using drop systems and then observe their movements,” explained the UAV operator with the call sign “Music.”

After each sortie, the assault group conducts an analysis of errors. During the Northern Military District, the attack aircraft of the Vostok group of troops have accumulated vast experience and take even the most fortified positions without losses.

17:03 Telegram channel “Fisherman":

Battle for Avdievka: expansion of the zone of control around AKHZ and the quarry situation as of 15.00 February 15, 2024

Russian troops are advancing in the private sector of Avdievka after a successful assault on a motor depot. At the same time, the consolidation of the positions taken in previous days continues.

Many Russian and Ukrainian media channels are running ahead of the locomotive: despite the obvious desire to bring victory closer, the assault units have hard work ahead of them.

Information about taking control of the forest plantation, where the Avdeevskaya Stella is located and the road to Lastochkino opens, was not true on the morning of February 15. There were several hundred meters left to the entrance sign.

Russian troops began to bypass the flooded Avdeevsky quarry from the western side: the advance of the Russian Armed Forces along the southern bank to Shestakova Street is confirmed.

In the south, in the area of the “Tsar’s Hunt”, no progress has yet been recorded, although rumors have appeared on the Internet about crossing the railway and storming the SNT “Vinogradniki-2”. Some channels claim partial control of Russian troops over SNT, but so far this has not been confirmed.

The enemy still holds the ruins of the anti-aircraft unit and the Cheburashka fortified area, and in Staraya Avdievka is partially withdrawing forces to the Khimik microdistrict.

At this stage, the units of the Russian army participating in the assault operations concentrated their efforts on expanding the breakthrough zones and clearing out the gray zones.

Despite the obvious control of the Russian Armed Forces over Industrial Avenue, the communication of Ukrainian formations between Lastochkino and Avdievka is not interrupted: supplies are carried out through the Plokhaya Balka right in the middle of the fields.

16:37 Front-line soldier reports: +- 400 meters left to the cauldron of the fortified areas “Cheburashka” and “Zenith”.

15:35 Front bird broadcasts:

Donetsk direction. district settlement Andreevka 15.02 15:25

It is reported that in the area of the village of Andreevka, our airborne units destroyed several enemy guns and howitzers.

The strike was delivered by FPV drone operators right on target.

14:00 How the Avdievka cauldron is built.

On frames our tigers from among the reinforced concrete tankers are compacting the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south of Avdievka, squeezing pincers around the enemy’s key strongholds in the city.

As before, iron cavalry has a decisive influence on the outcome of the battle; fighting in city streets is not the easiest task for a tank, but not for these guys, these will run over any enemy on this planet and all neighboring ones.

13:33 Around 12.30 suppressed an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation using the RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system.

Fourteen rockets were destroyed by air defense systems on duty over the territory of the Belgorod region.

13:00 Frontline reports:

Assault operations are underway in Avdievka. Information silence so as not to jinx it.

12:24 Front bird broadcasts:

Avdiivka situation at 11:00

The active advance of the Russian army continues along the entire length of the Avdeevsky Front. Multiple enemy resources and “analysts” state that the situation continues to worsen every hour.

All attempts at enemy counterattacks were repelled by our army. The so-called “Azov” took part in the counterattacks, suffering huge losses. Aerospace forces and artillery on the approach destroy enemy concentrations and columns. The density of fire from our army is prohibitive, hundreds of rounds per hour fall on the heads of our enemy.

It is at these moments that an operation is underway to completely encircle the enemy group in the urban areas of Avdievka. Our troops have advanced to the west of the highway on Industrialnaya Street and are rapidly advancing in the direction of Lastochkino and Severny.

It can be stated that the “cauldron” begins to BOIL.

11:32 According to information received from underground members of the Kherson resistance, military personnel of the Dnepr group of troops destroyed military installations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the right bank of the Kherson region in the area of the settlement Sablukovka, namely:

– a parking area for equipment, where about 20 units of foreign military equipment were located;

– a temporary deployment point, one of the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where more than 35 militants were located.

11:01 Front birdie broadcasts:

Avdeevskoe direction. Street fighting. 15.02

The beginning of active street fighting is reported in the eastern part of Avdeevka.

Our units are courageously making their way to the city center under the cover of artillery, armored vehicles and aviation.

The landowners have a difficult situation in terms of tactics and operational management.

But, nevertheless, the militants are still resisting.

10:32 Another daring raid by our “winged infantry”

Transbaikal paratroopers destroyed a group of Ukrainian nationalists in a stronghold west of Artemovsk.

In the footage, an armored group of a parachute battalion on a BMD-2K-AU of a separate guards airborne formation from Buryatia fires direct fire with high-explosive fragmentation ammunition. The distance to the enemy is 1000-1500 meters.

After the destruction of the target and the destruction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' personnel, the crew of the airborne combat vehicle immediately changed their firing position. The formation's attack aircraft moved to capture the strong point where the armored group was working. They completed the destruction of the enemy, occupied a strong point, cleared it of Ukrainian Armed Forces infantry and handed it over to reinforcement units.

09:57 Criminal Kyiv regime continues to fire at the civilian infrastructure of settlements on the left bank of the Kherson region, yesterday during the day the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired from cannon artillery:

-- n.p. Alyosha seven rounds;

-- n.p. Rybalche three rounds;

-- n.p. Novaya Zburevka four rounds;

-- n.p. Korsunka two rounds;

-- n.p. Kazachi Lagery five rounds.

During the night, the Kiev regime continued to shell civilian infrastructure in the village. Sagi, n.p. Golaya Pristan, n.p. Vasilyevka, n.p. Aleshki, Maslovka village, firing a total of 19 rounds from cannon artillery.

Civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure are being determined.

09:30 Telegram channel «WarGonzo":

Frontline report for the morning 02/15/2024

– On the Donetsk front, everything is critically bad for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. But everything is not fundamentally good for the RF Armed Forces. The assault of Russian troops from the southeast to Novomikhailovka led to their occupation of positions on the outskirts of the village. There are logistics for advanced units. But in open areas. Given the active use of FPV drones by the Ukrainian army, problems may arise.

Moreover, the village is held by paratroopers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who have counterattacked more than once, not without success. Over the past 24 hours, attacks by the Russian Armed Forces near Pobeda, Georgievka and Pervomaisky did not bring them success. But on the southern outskirts of Avdievka, they actually encircled the Ukrainian fortified area “Zenith”.

The “neck” is less than 800 meters. And the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot retreat along it. North-west of Avdievka, the Russian Armed Forces cut off the main logistics route of the Ukrainian garrison in the city. The advanced positions of Russian assault units are 500 meters to the west. In this situation, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has only two options: either counterattack or leave the city. We won’t guess which one they will choose.

– In the Artemovsky (Bakhmutsky) direction, the Russian Armed Forces carried out offensive operations near Ivanovsky and in the Bogdanovka area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding their positions.

– In the Lugansk direction there are tough oncoming battles near Belogorovka. The Russian Armed Forces tried to advance at Yampolevka and Ternov. No success. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to counterattack in the Tabaevka area. The Russian Armed Forces continued to put pressure on Ukrainian positions northwest of Sin'kovka.

08:43 Telegram channel “Fisherman":

Chronicle of a special military operation: events of February 13 – 14, 2024

Ukrainian forces attempted to launch a drone strike on the Crimean Peninsula. All air targets were shot down by Russian anti-aircraft gunners.

In addition, in the south of Crimea the enemy used unmanned boats. While repelling the attack, the Russian large landing craft Caesar Kunikov sank due to several explosions of sea drones.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also tried to attack infrastructure facilities in the rear regions of Russia. In the Voronezh region, a Ukrainian attack drone was neutralized on approach to an oil depot.

The Belgorod region continues to suffer as well - there the Ukrainian Armed Forces staged a UAV raid on the border area. Three targets were shot down; debris from the fourth seriously injured a woman who was hospitalized.

Meanwhile, on the special operations fronts, Russian troops continue to hold the initiative on several fronts. To the north-west of Bakhmut, the Russian Armed Forces significantly expanded the zone of control south of the Popovsky forest, pushing the enemy away from the outskirts of Khromovo.

In the Donetsk direction, Russian troops carried out several attacks using Iskander missiles. As a result of the raid, a large enemy temporary deployment point in Selidovo was hit at a distance of 40 km from the front.

Another target for attack on the same day was an armored vehicle parking lot in the village of Tsukurino. The first blow was delivered from an MLRS. During the evacuation of the equipment, artillery fired at it again.

08:10 Official summary Representative offices of the DPR in the JCCC:

Twelve armed attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces were recorded by the DPR Representative Office in the JCCC

Damaged:

Five artillery attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk direction

Five artillery attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Gorlovka direction

Two attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Yasinovat direction.

In total, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired 39 units of various ammunition.

'This is hell!' Syrsky threw Ukrainian 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (formerly Azov) to break through Avdievka encirclement
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] The Russian offensive operation in Avdeevka is gradually approaching its goal: the complete liberation of the northern satellite city of Donetsk. Over the past seven years, this area remained the main outpost of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, from whose territory the enemy constantly fired at the capital of the DPR. In recent months, Russian troops have successively destroyed a series of fortified areas created by the Ukrainian army over many years. By mid-February, the attackers managed to complete a number of important tasks in this direction. Avdeevka was cut off from supplies from the north, and in the south, Russian troops captured the key fortified area “Tsarskaya Okhota” and entered the urban area. However, the main strategic success was achieved over the last week, when it was possible to cut through two main enemy defense centers: Avdeevka itself and the territory of the Avdeevka Coke and Chemical Plant (AKHZ).

The successful actions of the Russian troops were confirmed by the Regnum news agency source, operating in the ranks of the 1st Donetsk Army Corps. According to his information, the advancing units managed to penetrate the enemy’s defenses quite deeply.

“Actually, the decisive events occurred at the beginning of the week, while there was a shift change at the headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result, the attacking forces wedged themselves between Avdeevka and Koksokhim, passed through the dacha sector and actually cut the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defense in two,” our source notes.

In an effort to stop the consequences of the breakthrough of Russian troops, the Ukrainian command transferred reserves to Avdeevka: the notorious 3rd Special Assault Brigade, created on the basis of the neo-Nazi Azov movement (*recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia).

However, arriving reinforcements were forced to note the “extremely critical situation” at the front. Azov commander Andrei Biletsky described the situation as hell, in which his troops have to fight 360 degrees at once.

It is noteworthy that the brigade is staffed primarily by volunteers who adhere to radical ideology. The unit was well trained and equipped, but for the time being remained in reserve. The very fact that Kiev decided to throw the 3rd Brigade into battle speaks of the seriousness of their intentions to change the situation in Avdievka in their favor at any cost.

After the successful offensive of the Russian troops, the contours of the emerging enemy encirclement began to appear more and more clearly.

On the southern front of the offensive, the ring is ready to close around the last powerful fortified areas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, known as “Zenit” and “Cheburashka” - in the area of the former air defense unit and the road junction through the Donetsk ring road.

And with the penetration of Russian troops into the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces between Avdeevka and AKHZ, all enemy forces remaining in the urban area were under the threat of encirclement.

“SUPPLY IS ALMOST CUT OFF”
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian sources (mainly bloggers who have direct contact with the military) do not seek to embellish the state of affairs, and in the current situation they primarily blame the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for unnecessary delay.

Firstly, the critical condition of the 110th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which occupied positions directly in Avdiivka itself, is indicated. The decision to withdraw the brigade units was made too late, when Russian troops had already launched an offensive on the northern front of the Avdeevka theater of military operations.

Secondly, the Azov brigade* sent to save the situation was brought into battle too late and was unable to occupy the previously abandoned positions in time.

According to the latest data, Russian troops were able to cut Industrial Avenue, in fact the main transport artery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces between Avdiivka and AKHZ. The road between Avdiivka and the village of Lastochkino, the main supply route for Ukrainian troops in the city, was also cut.

Thus, the supply of the enemy’s Avdeevsk group is now carried out through a narrow “throat” between the settlements of Lastochkino and Severnoye. In this area there are several dirt roads along which the enemy can supply the Avdeevka garrison.

Earlier, the speaker of the Ukrainian Tavria command, Dmitry Likhovoy, said that a “reserve logistics artery” was used in Avdiivka. Most likely, we are talking specifically about the reserve dirt road, on which the group’s supplies now rest.

At the same time, as Regnum news agency sources note on the ground, any movements towards Avdeevka and from the city are monitored by Russian troops, and the “logistics artery” is shot at along its entire length.

“A thaw recently began in our area. Therefore, the entire corridor through which the Ukrainian Armed Forces can still supply their forces in Avdiivka is an impassable swamp through which large equipment cannot pass. But it is not possible to supply an entire group of troops along two or three dirt roads,” the agency’s interlocutor reports.

The situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces becomes almost hopeless: after the units of the Russian army advancing from the north and south finally meet, the enemy forces remaining in the urban area will be completely surrounded.

"MANIC DESIRE TO DEFEND"
In the current situation, the Ukrainian command faces two options: bad and very bad. Either it is necessary to withdraw the remaining troops from the city, or waste energy on trying to prevent a final encirclement, but in the end get it and face a repeat of the history of Azovstal.

According to Ukrainian sources, the former commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny insisted on the first option, who proposed withdrawing troops to pre-prepared defense lines.

At the same time, the political leadership of Ukraine was and is categorically against the surrender of the city, even despite the prevailing front-line situation. The surrender of the city will be extremely negatively perceived by Ukrainian society, especially against the background of a series of recent failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

For this reason, in particular, Vladimir Zelensky decided to change the commander, essentially exposing the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Alexander Syrsky, to attack. Syrsky is already facing criticism from the “patriotic public”, whose favorite was his predecessor.

The new commander-in-chief is criticized for not trying to organize a counterattack from outside the emerging pocket, but instead began to transfer troops into potential encirclement. However, it is most likely that the reserves were used only to ensure that the retreat from the city did not turn into a disorderly flight.

“The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has a manic desire to organize heroic defenses in the environment, even when there is an opportunity to retreat. I think that now they will not jump on the same rake and will try to exit as organized as possible. Well, our task is to destroy them, if possible, during this withdrawal,” sums up the interlocutor of our agency.

The last supply route for the Avdeevka garrison passes through the 9th microdistrict (also known as the “ninth quarter”) in the western part of the city. And, as experts on both sides of the front admit, with its loss it will be possible to talk about the encirclement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

It is worth noting that the command of the Russian group is well aware of the strategic importance of this area. The “Ninth Quarter” is under constant shelling and attacks from aerospace forces, which destroy enemy fortified areas.

In the current hopeless situation, we can expect that the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will ultimately decide to retreat from the city.

Schools, doctors, pensions. Western experts curse the horrors of the 'Russian occupation'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Gevorg Mirzayan

[REGNUM] “The Kremlin manual on occupation. Forced Russification and Ethnic Cleansing in Occupied Ukraine.” This is the name of the report released by the American Institute for the Study of War. A report whose purpose is to close a serious hole in the Western propaganda construct.

The fact is that after Russia liberated the former Ukrainian territories, it “suddenly” turns out that Ukraine not only does not exist there, but has never existed. Yes, it was present in toponyms, in yellow-and-white coloring, in documents... But as soon as this or that city returns back to its native harbor, it immediately turns out that Russians live there.

Moreover, they (using the example of Crimea or Mariupol) see that Russia also considers these territories to be its own, and therefore contributes in every possible way to their restoration and further prosperity. Well, he treats the locals as if they were his own - unlike Ukraine.

As a result, now all Western demands for the “de-occupation” of the same Crimea are broken not only by the provisions of the Russian Constitution, but also by the position of the absolute majority of the population of the peninsula. Any foreigner who comes there will immediately understand that Crimeans do not want to “return” to any Ukraine. Just like the Donetsk people. As well as residents of the already liberated parts of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

“Russia is trying to convince Ukraine and its supporters that the transition of the occupied Ukrainian territories to the control of Moscow is irreversible. Create the impression that these territories are forever lost to Ukraine. And thereby discourage Ukraine from wanting to release them, and the West from supporting this desire,” the report says.

Moreover, using the example of the liberated territories, we can conclude that the concept of political Ukrainianism in Novorossiya is generally unviable. That as soon as it begins to openly compete with Russian reality (that is, the population leaves the Ukrainian information space), it will immediately lose dry. It will immediately become clear that representatives of the Russian world live in the Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, and Nikolaev regions.

Accordingly, Western propagandists needed to somehow explain that this was not an objective reality, but the result of forced Russification. This is what American experts tried to do, including with the help of the mentioned report.

The authors write that “ one of the key goals of Putin’s strategy is the destruction of Ukrainian culture, language and identity.” And this is done supposedly through various coercive mechanisms.

YOU CAN BE A FOREIGNER
First of all, through the fear of remaining Ukrainian.

The authors of the report cite the difference between the Ukrainian census in Crimea in 2001 and the Russian census in 2014. In the first case, 58.5% of the population called themselves Russians, and 24.4% called themselves Ukrainians. In the second - 68% Russians and 15.7% Ukrainians. Well, through the mouth of one of the Kyiv political scientists, they explain this by saying that it is safer for local residents to call themselves Russians.

Although in fact the numbers are quite logical.

“Residents of Crimea simply stopped feeling the pressure of the Ukrainian state. When this pressure ends, the people who were once under the control of Ukraine can quite clearly understand themselves as Russians. They can quite clearly say that their native language is Russian. Now in Ukraine it is generally dangerous to conduct any kind of opinion polls, since based on the answers of any person you can identify and prosecute him for disloyalty,” Bogdan Bezpalko, member of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations, tells IA Regnum.

And he adds that if surveys are conducted after liberation, the number of people identifying themselves as Ukrainians may even be overestimated - after all, people may be afraid that Ukraine will return, and therefore, just in case, they called themselves Ukrainians.

At the same time, neither in Crimea, nor in the territories liberated in 2022, nor in the rest of Russia, people calling themselves Ukrainians by nationality are in any way persecuted.

Further more. According to the authors of the report, Moscow is carrying out forcible passportization of the region. They say that if citizens living there do not receive Russian passports before July 1, 2024, then they “could become objects of mass deportation.”

In reality, everything is completely different. There is no violence here. “Most residents of new regions quite voluntarily receive passports of the Russian Federation. And the number of people who want to receive them, as well as other Russian documents, is off the charts. I personally know people working in passport structures. So they are forced to get up at 5 am in order to start processing passports,” explains Bogdan Bezpalko.

According to the expert, only people who are extremely politically interested and politically engaged can refuse to receive Russian citizenship and passports.

“And yes, living in new territories even with Ukrainian passports for such people will simply be uncomfortable in all respects. Culturally, politically, mentally. Therefore, they will most likely leave Russian territories voluntarily. And this will not be deportation or coercion, but a natural desire of a person,” says Bohdan Bezpalko.

No one is forcing anyone to do anything, and this is purely legal. In accordance with the presidential decree of April 2023, local residents must decide. Either they accept Russian citizenship or remain in the status of foreign citizens.

Moreover, until July 1, 2024, they can live in the territory of new regions using Ukrainian documents, and after that they need to either obtain a residence permit or live as a foreigner (of which millions live in Russia).

Simply put, they will be in Russia on common grounds with other citizens of Ukraine. Who actually have the right to visa-free stay in Russia if their Ukrainian documents are not expired.

And yes, without a Russian passport, a local resident cannot count on a Russian pension and other social benefits. But these are the laws in Russia and other normal countries. And to say that evil Russians are deliberately hooking the population of the regions on Russian benefits, social payments (the same maternity capital) is like saying that social states are deliberately hooking people up on benefits so that they do not slide into anarchy and generally appreciated the place where they live.

MASS VOLUNTARY RELOCATION
But the authors of the report continue to talk about economic occupation.

Thus, the system of patronage assistance (when Russian regions undertake obligations to restore cities or districts in new territories) is considered by the authors of the report as “an attempt to make Ukrainian settlements dependent on Russia in matters of economic support and infrastructural development.”

The desire to discredit this assistance is also understandable. After all, we are talking not only about economic recovery, but also about restoring human ties and professional contacts between the “old” and “new” Russian regions. That is, simply put, about a new level of integration of Novorossiya into the all-Russian family. A family where these people are considered their own - unlike Ukraine.

The authors of the report also did not miss working with the younger generation.

“Russia is turning its education system into a weapon, replacing Ukrainian history with Russian history,” the report says. Well, replacing the Ukrainian language with Russian - as has already been done in Crimea. “97% of Crimean children are educated in Russian, slightly less than 3% in Tatar and 0.2% in Ukrainian,” write the authors of the report. They say that you can study Ukrainian, but only three hours a week.

This argument looks dubious for those who, for example, lived in the republics of the post-Soviet space. Those who understand that even in national states on the Russian periphery it is necessary to know the Russian language - after all, without it it is difficult to break into the people. Those who remember how local parents are fighting precisely to send their children to schools with instruction in Russian - so that their children have the opportunity to receive a normal higher education.

Actually, exactly the same sentiments now prevail in the “new territories.” People voluntarily choose to study in Russian for their children - and Russian political scientists actually harshly criticize the authorities of the same Zaporozhye for leaving the opportunity for children to study in Ukrainian. After all, this means reading Ukrainian textbooks and Ukrainian literature, filled with Russophobic meanings.

Finally, the icing on the report's cake is Moscow's accusations of ethnic cleansing. In the mass resettlement of Ukrainians from liberated territories and replacing them with Russians from “old Russia”.

Moreover, dreamers interpret deportation in a very specific way. For example, “deportation” with the help of doctors. They say they specifically send Ukrainians to Russian medical institutions for treatment. Thus, according to the authors of the report, 2,100 people were “deported,” including five hundred children.

Children are also “deported” to participate in sociocultural activities. For example, visiting exhibitions in Russia. The authors bashfully omit the fact that after visiting the same VDNH, children from the liberated territories return home.

And, of course, young Ukrainians are “kidnapped” through adoptions.

“Forced adoption of Ukrainian children is designed to erase all ties that these children have with their homeland, which makes their further repatriation incredibly difficult,” the report’s authors say.

Accordingly, Russians come to replace the Ukrainians. And Moscow, they say, is trying in every possible way to strengthen this process - even with the help of the tourism industry. Part of Russia's repopulation plans is an alleged proposal to turn Mariupol into a resort.

“Depopulation followed by repopulation is the basis of the Russian campaign of ethnic cleansing. It is based on the deportation of Ukrainians, the destruction of their Ukrainian identity by the Russian population, language, laws and traditions. The Russian campaign to occupy Ukraine is a campaign to destroy Ukrainianness and its dissolution in Russia,” the authors of the report summarize.

And, of course, they talk about scale. According to the report’s authors, 5 million Ukrainians in the “occupied territory” are now suffering from Russian policies, as well as another 5 million Ukrainians whom the Kremlin has “illegally deported” to Russia “since the invasion.”

The second figure, of course, raises big questions - the Stalinist scale of resettlement in Russia was not noticed after all. However, it turns out that the second 5 million are the data of some Kyiv human rights activist, who by “deportation” means the voluntary departure of Ukrainians to Russia. Moreover, we are talking about both refugees from the combat zone and those who left Kherson, Izyum, Balakleya and other cities occupied by Ukraine.

And the lion's share are, apparently, those who simply fled to Russia from the very beginning of the conflict. Those who initially considered our country to be at least friendly, and at most, their home. This is what Russia is for them.

Snowdrifts in Moscow by the morning of February 15 reached 54 centimeters
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] In Moscow, the height of the snowdrifts by the morning of February 15 was 54 cm;
...21”...
4 cm of snow fell overnight in the Russian capital, said leading specialist of the Phobos weather center Evgeny Tishkovets.

“As a result of heavy snowfalls in the capital in the middle of the night, by 9 o’clock in the morning the height of the snow cover at the VDNH reference weather station increased by 4 cm and is 54 cm, at Balchug - 50 cm, MSU and Tushino - 64 cm,” he wrote in the Telegram channel.

According to him, over the next 24 hours the snow cover will grow to 60 cm, while the norm is 36 cm, and the record was set in 1994, when 65 cm fell.

As IA Regnum reported, on February 12, freezing rain covered Moscow. Moscow city services monitor the condition of the road network and carry out routine maintenance, the capital's municipal services complex previously clarified.

The thaw in Moscow will be replaced by a baric “mound” and abnormally high indicators, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, previously noted. On February 13, barometer readings will begin to rise, due to which snow clouds will be pushed out of the Moscow region, and from February 14, an anticyclone from the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago will bring icy Arctic air to the Russian Plain; in Moscow on this day it will get colder to -16 degrees, the expert noted.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces in Avdievka are “retreating to more advantageous positions.”

The retreat of Ukrainian militants was announced by the speaker of the Tavria Armed Forces of Ukraine group, Dmitry Likhovy.

“In Avdievka, in some places our units are retreating to more advantageous positions. Supplies to Avdeevka and evacuation from there are difficult. But a spare logistics artery, prepared in advance, is involved,” Likhovy said on air at the Ukrainian telethon.

He claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces “do not fight with meat”: “We also use maneuver, and when the situation becomes most difficult, decisions are made on new defensive lines.”

Previously, Ukraine admitted that one of the key routes for supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison had been cut in the city.

“Avdeevsky hell”: the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been deployed to the city

The Ukrainian 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, transferred to the Avdievka area, spoke about the “Avdievka hell.”

“Avdeevsky hell. The Ukrainian 3rd Separate Assault Brigade confirms that it was urgently redeployed to reinforce Ukrainian troops in the Avdievka area.

The situation in the city at the time of the establishment of the brigade is extremely critical,” says a message on the brigade’s official Telegram channel.

Ukrainian militants report that the Russian Army has concentrated seven brigades around the city!, continues to actively rotate its troops and is transferring new forces and equipment to the city.

As a result, the “susushniks” have to fight “360 degrees against new and new brigades.”

Ukraine announces its readiness to transfer the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdievka

New positions have been prepared for Ukrainian army fighters located in Avdievka, said the commander of the Ukrainian operational-strategic group of troops “Tavria” Alexander Tarnavsky on February 16.

“New positions have been prepared, powerful fortifications continue to be prepared, taking into account all possible scenarios,” he wrote on the Telegram channel, adding that local commanders know their task and are fulfilling it.

According to Tarnavsky, the situation in Avdievka is complex, but controllable, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are maneuvering troops in threatening directions. The operation in Advievka continues, he concluded.

As Regnum reported, on February 15, the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, admitted that Avdievka is on the verge of coming under the control of the Russian army.

The situation was largely influenced by the lack of ammunition among the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russia's superiority in manpower. This, in turn, was due to the failure of the United States to transfer new military aid packages to Ukraine. If Republicans in the House of Representatives do not act faster, then what is happening in Avdievka could be repeated on any sector of the front, Kirby emphasized.

Soldiers of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who were transferred to Avdievka, called the situation in the battle zone “Avdievka hell.” At the time of the establishment of militants, the situation in the city was assessed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces as extremely critical. According to the Ukrainians, they are opposed by seven brigades of the Russian Armed Forces.

On February 13, the head of the communications service of the 110th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ivan Sekach, announced the impossibility of fulfilling the task set by the Kiev regime to hold Avdievka.
