Editorial: President punts on IRS
[BOSTONHERALD] Because there's a looser vibe on late-night talk shows perhaps President B.O. felt free to play looser than usual with the facts. But his characterization of the IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
scandal during an appearance on Jon Stewart's show this week isn't as easily laughed away as it may have been by the audience.

Yes, the president tried to rewrite a bit of embarrassing history, chalking up the IRS targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status as the simple fallout from a "crummy" law enacted by Congress.

"When there was that problem with the IRS, everyone jumped ... saying, 'Look, you've got this back office, and they're going after the Tea Party' " Obama told Stewart. "Well, it turned out, no, Congress had passed a crummy law that didn't give people guidance in terms of what it was they were trying to do. They did it poorly and stupidly."

"Back office"? As was widely reported, the guidance to single out Tea Party and other conservative groups for extra scrutiny apparently came from the IRS in Washington.

Beyond that, the idea that Lois Lerner
...the former head of the IRS Exempt Unit. She is a past president of the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws and a member of the Massachussetts bar. She was held in contempt of Congress for her role in the IRS targeting of regime political enemies and refusing to testify. The dog ate her computer's hard drive with all her emails on it...
, who was head of the tax-exempt office, and her colleagues simply didn't have the proper guidance required to vet applications -- and that it was not their fault, but the fault of Congress -- is, like an episode of Stewart's show, laugh-out-loud funny.

#1  So, the default mode in the IRS is, unless specifically forbidden, to dog the taxpayer with threats and litigation? If so, there's something even worse that needs to be dealt with, and it's not fine print.

#2  he's not punting, he's trying to run out the clock. It should be made perfectly clear to these asshole partisan bureaucrats and political appointees that a new President doesn't mean criminal malfeasance charges and dismissal is going away. Remove the hacks and strip their pensions - as a warning

Obama administration restricts investigative powers of inspectors general
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The B.O. regime formally announced that inspectors general will have to get permission from their agency heads to gain access to grand jury, wiretap and fair credit information -- an action that severely limits the watchdogs' oversight capabilities, independence and power to uncover fraud.

An opinion, issued by the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel, says the Inspector General Act of 1978 -- which was written by Congress to create the government watchdogs in order to help maintain integrity within their agencies -- does not have the authority to override nondisclosure provisions in other laws, most notably in regard to grand jury, wiretap or fair credit information.

"In reaching these conclusions, our Office's role has not been to decide what access [inspectors general] should receive as a matter of policy. Rather, we have endeavored to determine as a matter of law, using established tools of statutory construction, how best to reconcile the strong privacy protections ... with the interest in access reflected in ... the IG Act," states the legal counsel's opinion, which was dated Monday and released Thursday.

Medical issues soon to surface. Too bad, so sad. Still no word from Bubba. Her mother told her not to run.... or was that some other liberal? They all appear the same to me.
I keep saying this: she's not running to be President. She's running to keep the cash flowing into the Foundation. All those campaign contributions? The day she drops that money moves to the Foundation.

Purpose of the Foundation: to keep Bill, Hillary and Chelsea living in the style to which they've become accustomed.

Elizabeth Warren will be the nominee. Book it.

#7  I have been saying the same thing for quite some time. It is so obvious to myself. Constant media attacks have given him so much free airtime. He is a master of the media. The conservative Democrat and conservative Republican have no party anymore. Being the vast majority who are truly fed up with the political process want someone to represent them. Too long have the special interests groups been the focal point of political futures. Self serving hodgepodge of people only interested in their own power whatever that flavor might be. Trump will go to the people and force the spineless leadership to do what is right as Regan did but in my opinion more effectively. The problem will be his appeal. The oligarchy will find this so disruptive to their plans he will be terminated one way or another. O was always thought to be the one terminated but he is merely a tool of convenience. The oligarchy loves the guy. O still has many months in power. He will do and say whatever he wants and pay no consequence. It will be more of the same trash and new trash he will promote. He has a free hand. His magic lamp will continue to grant him his many wishes.

#8  When you reduced the highest office to "America's Got Talent" contest (as seen in the two prior elections), your voting base has made this event. The problem for the Donks and Trunks is that they've corrupted their polling input to tell them what they want rather than what the voting base wants, so it's so easy to tell the 'mob' to STFU and take what we're giving you. Holding your nose too many times to pull a switch in the lesser of two evils does not make a happy population.

The oligarchy will find this so disruptive to their plans he will be terminated one way or another.

The oligarchy is so stupid that it won't understand the power of martyr till its too late.

#14  Trump says things that are so outrageous that even the MSM cannot ignore them. They may hate what he says but they can't let it go. Other conservatives like Cruz and Walker aren't getting that kind of attention. So give Trump credit for understanding how to work the system. Then he refuses to apologize or walk back from his statements and instead says something even more outrageous. I don't know about other voters but I find that a refreshing change from mealy mouthed politics as usual. It's too early to commit to the guy but right now he has the ball and he's running with it. After all, how could he be any worse than what we have now?

Yes: if Perot hadn't gone stark raving crazy and dropped out mid-race then attempted to re-enter a few weeks later he'd have been elected, probably in a landslide. See e.g., Trump '16.

DNC speaks to empty College Democrat event
[CAMPUSREFORM.ORG] Emphasizing the importance of Millennial voters in upcoming elections, progressive activists spoke to a nearly empty auditorium at the College Democrats of America annual conference on Friday.

Despite offering a full day of activities, speakers like Julian Castro, and campaigning advice from top wardheelers, the College Democrats of America were barely able to fill the first couple rows with young attendees.

The speakers emphasized the important role Millennial voters can play in the political process by getting out the vote, engaging fellow students on campus, and supporting the objectives of the Democratic Party. The conference began July 22 and will end this Saturday.

Donna Brazile, Vice Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and frequent television political commentator, began an unscheduled appearance by thanking "all those who work so hard to ensure that all of our young people, all of our College Democrats, are involved, active, and engaged in the national Democratic Party."

Brazile encouraged the members of the sparse audience to seek public office while pointing to an empty chair on stage.

"I want you to start thinking about filling this seat," said Brazile, who said she has been active in politics since childhood and looked forward to the contributions of the next generation.

"I didn't come here with any talking points, I don't have a speech, I don't have a candidate yet, but I do have an empty chair," said Brazile.

During a panel earlier in the day, Rock the Vote president Ashley Spillane described Millennials as the "Get Sh*t Done Generation" but said that "the current political landscape isn't that inspiring and people are frustrated with politics."

"I believe the Millennial Generation is getting sh*t done, they just happen to be doing it outside of the political system right now and we need to be impressing the importance of participating in civics in order to get them more involved in the process," said Spillane.

Chamber of Commerce Declares War (For the Umpteenth Time) on GOP Conservatives
[Politico] Chamber spokeswoman Blair Holmes said the group supports "pro-business candidates in every election, regardless of whether they are a Republican, Democrat, incumbent or challenger."
Hey that's nice to know, CoC. Maybe some Republican can summon enough wit to know that you guys are a bunch of self serving weasels who should be ignored when greater things are at stake. Naah..
Most GOP lawmakers declined to discuss the prospect of primary challenges, but one senior Republican, granted anonymity to talk about intraparty battles, said, "Generally, I would like our own team to stay together."

"Division isn't good for our team," the Republican said. "But I wouldn't tell people who to support."
I'm sure McConnell, Boehner and the rest of the CoCsuckers are perfectly fine with this."Party unity when it benefits us, but not for thee!"

Government
The Hildebeest faces a dangerous enemy in the Champ regime.
[New York Post] If Hillary Clinton were a cartoon character, she'd be Snidely Whiplash, forever muttering to herself, "Curses, foiled again." And she'd be right.

The lady in waiting will have to keep waiting. Probably forever. Fate has spoken.

Already threatened by a growing trust deficit with voters, her would-be majesty now faces an even more lethal adversary. It's called the truth, though she probably sees it as a vast, left-wing conspiracy.

The news that two inspectors general from the Obama administration want the Justice Department to investigate her handling of classified material is a potential game changer. For many Democrats, it will serve as final proof she is 'fatally' flawed.

Her standing will further erode, turning her coronation plans into a long, hot summer. The drip, drip, drip of details will produce new polls showing a bleeding of support, which will entice other candidates into the race. Look for Vice President Joe Biden to jump in soon, and lefty Sen. Elizabeth Warren might also take the leap.

Meanwhile, Clinton must play defense against her former colleagues in the State Department and intelligence agencies.
'Colleagues' and friends, not necessarily the same thing. Friends in D.C.? Old Harry Truman quote: "You want a friend in D.C., buy a dog."
Actually, it's worse. She's almost certainly up against the White House.

Somebody very high in the food chain leaked the memos requesting the probe. The New York Times, which broke the story, identified its source only as "a senior government official."

My money is on Valerie Jarrett, the Obamas' Rasputin, who is known to despise Clinton. If it was Jarrett, she would not do this against the president's wishes.
Enemy no doubt, but I'm not so certain Jarrett is the leaker. She might just be falling under her own weight.
That also would be true for any "senior government official" who leaked the memos. Targets don't get any bigger than Hillary Clinton, so this was not a rogue operation. This was an approved hit.

VALJAR could then continue her place in the governance/plundering of what's left of the country while the regional hegemon consolidates its power in the ME, and then colludes with the pseudo-Czar and ChiCom oligarchs to divide up the remnants of the west? Years ago I would have said a tinfoil hat crazy must have written this, but now....not so much!

McConnell Angers Conservatives By Blocking Defunding Planned Parenthood, Kate's Law
[Daily Caller] Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has never been a favorite of conservatives. Those who see him as a "squishy" compromiser more interested in placating President Barack Obama and K Street lobbyists than the Republican base had more fuel tossed on that fire when he blocked amendments to the Highway Bill Tea Party members wholeheartedly support.
"Squishy" to some possibly. He "came out" a very long time ago.
One amendment would defund Planned Parenthood, the nationwide abortion provider which receives more than a half billion dollars in taxpayer subsidies annually. McConnell has previously said he supports defunding Planned Parenthood, which was recently the subject of undercover sting videos in which executives with the organization can be heard discussing the sale of organs from aborted babies. But the leader blocked an amendment to the Highway Bill that would have defunded the organization.

McConnell used a tactic called "filling the tree," made popular by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid when he was majority leader to block Republicans from being able to offer amendments to Democratic bills. "Filling the Tree" is when the allotted time for amendments is loaded by the leader, generally with small, insignificant measures favored by the majority leader, who controls the process, crowding out everyone else.

"Filling the tree" was roundly decried by Republicans when Democrats controlled the Senate because it blocked their ability to offer any amendments, popular on a bipartisan basis or not, to any legislation the Senate was considering. McConnell ran and was reelected to his Senate seat on returning the Senate to "regular order" after years of tight control and power consolidation under the Democrats. Now he is using the same tactic against his own party.
