I'm deleting the above post that was put up early today. It's a direct link to an 'Obama for America' sponsored website. It was titled differently, of course, but we really don't want those links here at the Burg.

Thanks for understanding. AoS

Schakowsky-D: You don't deserve to keep all of your money
CHICAGO (WLS) - A lot of reaction Wednesday morning to Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky's interview with Don Wade and Roma.

Schakowsky said that Americans don't deserve to keep all of their money because we need taxes to support our society.

"I'll put it this way. You don't deserve to keep all of it and it's not a question of deserving because what government is, is those things that we decide to do together. And there are many things that we decide to do together like have our national security. Like have police and fire. What about the people that work at the National Institute of Health who are looking for a cure for cancer," Schakowsky said.
Let me put it another way, you arrogant turd. We deserve to keep every goddamn dime we make. As part of our compact with the government (that we are the boss of, by the way) we agree to give you the power to make laws and set taxes to keep the country running and safe. We are investing in our futures and security by letting you tax us. Recap, we are allowing you to take our money that WE DESERVE to make and keep. Keep grabbing at our hard earned capital, and you just might find out just how powerful your bosses are. King George sure did.

#1  Her key line was “I think you need to pay your fair share for things we’ve decided are our national priorities,”

We decide, you pay. We have access to all of it if we decide.
Posted by: Nimble Spemble || 09/14/2011 16:59 Comments || Top||

#2  I don't think anyone is saying we should pay no taxes. It is intuitively obvious to the most elementary observer that the government needs to provide some services - police, fire, roads, national defense and so on. Like for example, the things that the Constitution provides for. Other things can be state and local responsibilities.

The problem I have, particularly with the Federal government is all the stuff they have added on - especially in the last 60-80 years, like the EPA, and all the regulations that crush businesses, especially small businesses.

And no, I am not actually saying that the EPA should be abolished - I can remember when the environment really was much worse. I went to college in Cleveland, and you could practically chew the air - you could definitely smell the chemicals. The Cuyahoga river actually caught fire. Thanks to the EPA, it is much cleaner. (Of course, it is mostly because those businesses have been regulated out of business.)

However, the EPA has gone off the rails, looking for new things to regulate - like CO2, dust from farms, and so on. We could save a BIG chunk of change by cutting their budget way back.

Obama Touts Jobs Plan at Company That's Shipping Jobs to Costa Rica
You can't make this stuff up.

President Barack Obama will present his "jobs plan" on Wednesday at a company which is shipping jobs overseas.

Obama is scheduled to present his "jobs plan" in Apex, N.C., on Wednesday at the headquarters of WestStar Precision.

WestStar is a high-end, specialty manufacturer that just opened a new facility in San Jose, Costa Rica -- creating many new jobs there, but not in the United States.

"Our main office and manufacturing facility near Research Triangle Park in the Raleigh/Durham area has approximately 11,000 sq. ft. of office space, production area and warehouse," the company says on its website. "This facility has more than doubled in size from inception. Equipment includes precision CNC Machining centers, water jet cutter and CAD-CAM design stations."

On the same page, WestStar Precision describes its new location, which is almost as big, in Costa Rica: "Our new office and manufacturing facility in San Jose, Costa Rica, also has approximately 10,000 sq. ft. with similar equipment as the main office. This facility is designed for high volume production to support our international and domestic clients."

It's not like this is the first time Obama has done something along these lines. There was the Canadian bus flap during his most recent Save Obama's Job road trip. While the gulf oil drilling permitorium remains in place, Obama sent $2 billion American dollars to Brazil to help them drill offshore. At the time that occurred, he got slapped with the motto, "Drill There, Not Here." After this Costa Rica adventure, it's time to slap him with "Work There, Not Here."

The Obama White House: Where every hour is amateur hour.

Update: By the way, the owner of this particular company, which is shipping jobs out of the country, is a Democrat. What are the odds, huh?

Obama will speak at N.C. State at 12:55 p.m. Watch his speech LIVE on WRAL.com and WRAL-TV.

Before that, he will visit WestStar Precision, a small business in Apex which is owned by Erv Portman, a Democratic Wake County Commissioner and former Cary town councilman.

The White House press office says WestStar is an example of a company that will benefit from Obama's $450 billion jobs bill, which includes payroll tax cuts and breaks for companies that raise wages or hire veterans and unemployed workers.

Portman donated $1,000 to Obama's inauguration fund.
This is beyond parody at this point. This is grade A, certified arrogant incompetence.

#2  Reminds me of a Charger game I attended a few years back when the Chargers weren't doing so well but the Raiders were headed for the Super Bowl. The camera people kept trying to find cheering Charger fans to put on the giant screen. But every time they found a handful of Charger fans they were surrounded by hordes of Silver and Black clad Raider fans. In fact, the vast majority of football fans in attendance at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego that day were unabashed Raider fans.

My point being, where in the hell is Obama supposed to find a company that isn't shipping its manufacturing offshore?

On the internet, search made in USA, be surprised. My daughter has a wonderful toy chest manufactured in Colorado assembled by me, competative pricing for using real wood not that scratched by a toothbrush ikea crap. Good kitchen knives from MI, leather dress shoes from NE. But they are for the most part small businesses...you know, the ones which are taking the brunt of the government/big business connection.

But IIUC, there are a number of Americans moving to Costa Rica, so there is that.

New report cites 'regulatory tsunami' under Obama
The number and scope of federal regulations, along with the costs of those regulations and the number of federal regulators, are all growing despite an executive order from President Obama that was touted as a measure to curb over-regulation, according to a new report by the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee.

The report says the Obama administration has "imposed 75 new major regulations costing more than $380 billion over ten years." In addition, the report says there are 219 more "economically significant regulations" in the works which will cost businesses $100 million or more each year -- for a minimum cost of $21 billion over ten years. The number of pages in the Federal Register, in which such rules are recorded, is increasing rapidly, the report says, and "pages devoted to final rules rose by 20 percent between 2009 and 2010, and proposed rules have increased from 2,044 in 2009 to 2,439 in 2010."

"The Obama administration has created a regulatory environment that is suffocating America's entrepreneurs' ability to create jobs and grow business," writes committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, Republican from California. "The result has been a regulatory tsunami that has stifled productivity, wages, job creation and economic growth."
Business to Obama. Stop "helping".

Amodei coasts to 20 point victory in Nevada
Republican Mark Amodei coasted to victory Tuesday, delivering an all-out defeat to Democrat Kate Marshall in Nevada's first special House election since the state entered the union, according to election results compiled by The Associated Press.

With 70 percent of precincts reporting, Amodei had captured 57 percent of the vote to Marshall's 37 percent in the race to replace former Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), who was appointed to the Senate in April when former Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) resigned amid a scandal. Marshall conceded the race two hours after polls closed in Nevada.

#3  A slam dunk in these two special elections. That's got to have BO and Axlerod and crew sweating and trying to spin these election results into something else. Amodel was expected to win more than the Turner (a Catholic in a heavily Jewish district). The Jewish people must be really ticked off about BO's shabby treatment of Israel. #5  The Israeli newspapers are positively gleeful about the NY-9 Republican victory. The Drudge headline is "The Revenge of the Jews".

However, what made it a slam-dunk is interesting. While the district was leaning to the Republican already, the Democrat came out with a suicidal statement:

"Because of my Orthodox Jewish faith, I support gay marriage."

That just killed him dead in Brooklyn, where he lost 67% to 33%. Noteworthy as well, he very slightly *won* in Queens, by about 1,000 votes.

According the 2010 Census, 39.7% of the population of Queens was White, 19.1% Black or African American, 22.9% Asian, 12.9% from some other race, and 4.5% of two or more races. 27.5% of Queens's population was of Hispanic or Latino origin (of any race).

11% of the people in Queens are Jewish.

According to the 2010 Census, 35.7% of the population of Brooklyn was non-Hispanic White, 31.9% non-Hispanic Black or African American, 10.4% non-Hispanic Asian, 0.4% from some other race (non-Hispanic) and 1.6% of two or more races (non-Hispanic). 19.8% of Brooklyn's population was of
Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin

15% of the people in Brooklyn are Jewish.

Project Solyndra: In the Spotlight -- House Hearing on Wednesday
On Fox Special Report tonight, Jonah Goldberg reminded us all of the Enron doings. He stated, "I could never find any connection of Bush with Enron, yet, he got tagged with the financial crisis."
Mod Note: Thanks Beavis for the correction for Enron

ME: Solyndra has Obama's name all over it."
Sorta like the pic I found at Ace...
Republicans hope to shed more light on the Solyndra loan scandal tomorrow, when the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hear testimony from two White House officials involved in the now infamous $535 million loan guarantee to the now-defunct solar-panel manufacturer once hailed by President Obama as a "true engine of economic growth . . . leading the way toward a brighter more prosperous future."

In particular, the committee will seek to determine the extent to which Solyndra's financial ties to major Democratic fundraiser George Kaiser may have played a role in the company's receiving federally backed funds. According to a memo circulated by committee Republicans, the hearing will also examine the following questions:

Did the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) conduct a proper review of the Solyndra application?

Should the DOE and the OMB have anticipated some of the financial problems that Solyndra experienced, which resulted in bankruptcy?

Did the DOE and the OMB take adequate steps to protect taxpayers when it negotiated the terms and conditions of the Solyndra guarantee and its restructuring?

#5  Don't have a link, but an ABC story says the loans were first considered under the Bush administration...

Which rejected them, predicting the company would go bankrupt right about the time it did.

#7  Bush admin did turn down the loan

The White House also noted to ABC News that the Bush administration was the first to consider Solyndra's application and that some executives at the company have a history of donating to Republicans. The results of the Congressional probe shared Tuesday with ABC News show that less than two weeks before President Bush left office, on January 9, 2009, the Energy Department's credit committee made a unanimous decision not to offer a loan commitment to Solyndra.

Even after Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, analysts in the Energy Department and in the Office of Management and Budget were repeatedly questioning the wisdom of the loan. In one exchange, an Energy official wrote of "a major outstanding issue" -- namely, that Solyndra's numbers showed it would run out of cash in September 2011.

There was also concern about the high-risk nature of the project. Internally, the Office of Management and Budget wrote that "the risk rating for the project sponsor [Solyndra] … seems high." Outside analysts had warned for months that the company might not be a sound investment.

Turner wins in NYC
Republicans have scored an upset victory in a New York City House race that became a referendum on President Barack Obama's economic policies.
The Dems, including their press allies, would dearly love to ignore the role of policy towards Israel in this race. Respected ex-NYC mayor Koch campaigned for Turner on that basis.
Retired media executive and political novice Bob Turner defeated Democratic state Assemblyman David Weprin in a special election Tuesday to succeed Rep. Anthony Weiner, a seven-term Democrat who resigned in June after a sexting scandal.

The heavily Democratic district spanning parts of Queens and Brooklyn had never sent a Republican to the House. But frustration with the continued weak national economy gave Republicans the edge.

Turner has vowed to bring business practicality to Washington and push back on spending and taxes.

#3  Yet the press will still insist, this one election isn't a mandate against The One....... if nothing else, his stance against Israel may be his Waterloo...

Weprin, a 56-year-old Orthodox Jew and member of a prominent Queens political family, seemed a good fit for the largely white, working-class district, which is nearly 40 percent Jewish.

God bless his chosen people.

Turner has already spoken with Boehner.

#18  I'd say the donks are thinking more and more about a primary challenge to Obama. Obama is following Carter's footsteps. Hillary? I hope not--that would result in more tired leftist policies. I think it's getting to the point where a donk might not be able to win. I'm thinking there might be another Pub/Tea Party sweep in Congress if things continue as are.

#19  ...the prospect of increased anti-Semitism on the left.

The only way it could increase more is if they adopted the Nazi policies toward jews.

#21  The only way it could increase more is if they adopted the Nazi policies toward jews.

Have you given a thoughta about left's concern about the Palestinians? Why them when Arabs were killing two hundred Blacks (and these weren't terrorists but most often women and children) in Sudan for every Palestinian killed by Israel and that without counting mass raopes and slavery on Blacks? Why them when Palestiniaans are fat from living on our dole while Black Sudanese were starving? Why them when they are about the only "Liberation movement" in the world who places bombs on mentally disabled people, who celebrates when one of them kills a two years old in cold blood and tries to bomb a maternity? (All of this is in Rantburg's archives). Why is the left so much in love with so repugnant people who in addition have it far better than Sudanese Blacks.

There is only one possible explanation: because both the PLO and the Hamas have told that their ultimate goal is not the destruction of Israel but finishing Hitler's work. That is why the left loves the Palestinians.

#22  And JFM takes it all the way in for the score! Good points.

#23  Maybe it is proof that people are learning how evil that democrat enterprise is. But, never under-estimate the stupidity of the American voter.

#24  To keep a sense of perspective here, this is a district destined to vanish with redistricting. The special election provided a perfect opportunity to stick it to Obama with no real repurcusions since they could simply vote donkey next year.

I'd like to think its more than that, but it really seems more like a warning shot and not a harbringer.

#25  Yes they can vote Donk next year if they wish. But they'll have an incumbent Pub congressman running in the new district, not a faceless, nameless Pub who has no chance in hell.

If I were the Donk congressman in such a district, with the way the polls are going now, I'd be worried. That's what Turner does for the Pubs.
