SD Mayor Filner (D- Serial Groper) - YJCMTSU
"Everyone is entitled to have their day in court, but given the number of allegations that seem to be corroborated by a number of different parties, I don't think it would be wise to prolong this and go through that. It's now all over the national news and we should not be garnering headlines with scandals like this."

The women accusing Filner have remained unnamed, but they've told their stories to prominent Democrats and former supporters of the mayor.

The scandal element of the Filner saga was underscored in Wednesday in national headlines and on Twitter and other social media sites after the National Women Veterans Association of America withdrew a "Lifetime Leadership Award" it planned to give Filner -- but is keeping him on its agenda as a keynote speaker when it gathers in San Diego Aug. 30-31. That prompted numerous calls for the group to also scrub Filner entirely from its meeting.
An award for "Lifetime service in the cause of women" AYFKM??

#1  The Dems - a party reluctant to demand a resignation from the man who broke a decades-old Republican choke hold on the mayor’s office.

Besides, Hizzoner ain't gonna depart like some penny-ante Republican - the reality that the only way Bob is going to leave the mayor’s office is if someone drags him out kicking and swinging. It’s going to be a long, ugly process.

#2  Moar:
10News has learned Mayor Bob Filner has agreed to be the keynote speaker at a benefit for sexual assault victims. A women veterans group tells 10News the mayor's camp has just confirmed the appearance. Filner was originally scheduled to attend as an award recipient.

The group has stripped him of the award. Instead, he is set to address the scandal now consuming City Hall.

The woman leading the benefit is Tara Jones, the president of the National Military Women Veterans Association of America.

Months ago, Jones' group decided to honor Filner with a lifetime leadership award for his work on behalf of women veterans, including the issue of sexual assault.

Amid the recent scandal swirling around Filner, the group stripped him of the award. In a statement, the groups said, "We do not tolerate sexual discrimination at any level within our society."

Still, the group did not disinvite the mayor from the August award gala, instead announcing that he will address the scandal in a speech.

"He is now the keynote speaker on these injustices," said the group.

#3  Meanwhile, I have absolutely no idea what he stands accused of because the lamestream press isn't discussing the charges, merely repeating the "please resign and spare us the indignity of publically discussing the charges" statements of the accusers.

#4  sexual harrassment of female staffers, sexual assault of lobbyists and constituents, and inappropriate behavior. Then there's a couple otehr scandals. His top staff has basically quit, and the voices calling for him to resign are his own democrat supporters, making it hard to be a vast right-wing conspiracy™

#5  Somebody's gonna have to circulate a petition for a recall election. I don't see his donk supporters doing that. I don't see any Republicans doing it either. I hope they do but I see no sign of it yet. If there is no recall he will have to be convicted in court of an actual crime and sent to jail. Anonymous accusations of inappropriate behavior won't get it. Sure, he should quit. But donks like him have no shame and they don't quit. Clinton didn't quit on account of Monica Lewinsky and Filner won't quit either. He will not spare us the embarrassment and he will not spare the taxpayers the expense of any lawsuits. He will have to be dragged out of the office kicking and screaming.

#6  Abu Uluque, the wild card is that the Dems don't want a Dem pervert in the news when 2014 elections roll around. Some heavy offers are likely to be made to get him out of there quietly. Perhaps he can work for the UC system or something.

Just sayin'

Cincinnati Poll Worker Gets 5-Year Prison Term For Illegal Voting
[Cincinnati.com] Calling her a common criminal who abused her authority as a poll worker by violating the principle of "one person, one vote," a judge sent Melowese Richardson to prison Wednesday for five years following her illegal voting conviction.

"This is not a little thing. It's not a minor thing. This is what our country's based on -- free elections," Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Ruehlman told Richardson.

In a case watched around the country, Richardson was a Hamilton County poll worker from 1998 until her arrest earlier this year when she was charged with eight counts of illegal voting. In May, she accepted a plea deal and was convicted of four counts in exchange for the other four being dismissed.

She was convicted of voting twice in the 2012 election and voting three times -- in 2008, 2011 and 2012 -- for her sister, Montez Richardson, who has been in a coma since 2003.

Richardson told the judge she was bothered that Amy Searcy, the Board of Elections director, had criticized her moments before the sentencing. Richardson, 58, of Madisonville, said for years she helped register Democrats to vote
How many of those were legitimate, one wonders...
but now was being persecuted despite her decades as a poll worker.

"I think the board has shown me nothing but total disrespect for the 30 years I've served them," she told the judge. "I believe in the system and I've done nothing to harm the system
*boggle*
or cause disgrace to President B.O.."
You got caught, my dear. Our beloved president does not approve of his people getting caught.
The conservative, outspoken judge responded with scathing comments, blasting Richardson for suggesting she was being prosecuted because she was a black Democrat helping a black Democratic presidential candidate.

"It has nothing to do with race. It has nothing to do with politics. It has nothing to do with disrespecting you. You did this to yourself," Ruehlman told her.

"You're very selfish, self-centered. I really believe President B.O., if he were asked about this today, he would be appalled. He would not want anybody to cheat to get elected."
Someone should find out if she was ever connected to ACORN. This could be fun!
Ruehlman noted that two others convicted of illegal voting before Richardson got much lighter sentences but stressed their cases were different.

The judge noted Richardson deserved a prison sentence, which was one year less than the maximum possible, because she has a lengthy criminal record, schemed repeatedly over five years to cast several illegal votes and used her training and expertise as a poll worker to try to evade detection.

Richardson previously was convicted of threatening to kill a witness in a criminal case against her brother, of stealing, of drunken driving and of beating someone in a bar fight.
Wanted on twelve systems, that one is.
Anything short of a prison sentence, Assistant Prosecutor Bill Anderson told the judge, would be an attack on the voting system.

As a poll worker, "her job is actually to protect the integrity and sanctity of the voting system," Anderson said. "(She) is an ideologue who was hell bent on stuffing the ballot box with as many Obama votes as possible."
And how many others have done the same? Cincinnati has a history of votes being bought and sold for the price of a beer. Though to be fair, that kind of thing started long before the Civil War, and Cincinnati is a town that likes its traditions.
Bill Gallagher, Richardson's lawyer, suspected she would be sent to prison but was surprised by the sentence. "I thought prison was a real possibility because of her record of 25 years ago," Gallagher said. "I don't think that the length of it was any where near what we expected."

Tim Burke wasn't surprised.

Burke, chairman of the Hamilton County Democratic Party, had no sympathy for Richardson.

"It's very sad how she doesn't understand how she abused the trust that was placed in her as a poll worker," Burke said. "She frankly embarrassed the board and, in the process, all of us who trust in the system."

Three others -- Margaret I. Allen, 64, formerly of Loveland; Ernestine Strickland, 84, of Memphis, Tenn.; and Andre Wilson, 49, of Winton Hills -- have illegal voting cases pending.

#3  voting three times -- in 2008, 2011 and 2012 -- for her sister, Montez Richardson, who has been in a coma since 2003.

Since we know she voted the way her sister would have, she was just helping her poor sister to vote, and why should it be illegal to help the handicapped (comatose would qualify, right?) to vote? (what's the symbol for sarcasm?)

#14  C'mon, they haven't been able to buy votes for the price of a beer since my grandad left the city!

Now they give 'em away for free, Rob, and get together for a celebratory glass of wine afterward. One of the ladies in my writing group is a Democratic poll worker in Hyde Park or Montgomery -- one of the nice Hamilton County precincts, anyway -- and she proudly told stories of encouraging D voters to vote in person after having sent in a mail-in ballot. "No, no, it's perfectly legal," quoth she to our group. "I'm a lawyer."

I wonder what she is thinking now...
