This is just flat out treason. He is completely defanging the US Military with this. If not intentional to preemptive surrender to Russia and China, then the willful ignorance of this dolt is criminal and will get lots of people and soldiers killed.
Hopefully Congress can get the funding needed for these but at this rate the US will be conquered by the time Obumble's term is up.

@ed in texas - ..water balloons freeze at altitude. As such they could become lethal and, of course, would be fragmentation weapons upon impact. The (hopefully environmentally-friendly) latex encasement would prevent sublimation, thereby maintaining mass through the drop.
But some U.N. accord probably bans them and Zerro couldn't violate this, could he?

Two thoughts:
1) this is being reported by 'journalists', a species not renown for their understanding of matters military
2) Is this part of some sort of Pentagon budget horse-trading? We threaten to cut this, which freaks out some home-state congressmen, who then agree to cut something else in return for jobs & money, and finally we chop our actual target.

The Navy has a rail gun under development that might be considered a substitute for the Tomahawk. On the other hand it is years from actual deployment, and may not be retrofitted onto many existing ships.

The Alaska Shield 2014 exercise, sponsored by the State of Alaska to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Great Alaskan Earthquake, will provide the central scenario elements: significant damage from both the quake and the tsunami it triggers will affect the greater Pacific Northwest. Capstone Exercise 2014 incorporates several preparedness activities sponsored by other departments and agencies and is designed to educate and prepare the whole community for complex, large-scale disasters and emergencies.
The following component events are integrated into the Capstone Exercise to examine the core capabilities described in the National Preparedness Goal. This multi-event design recognizes the need for comprehensive all-hazards planning and the complexity to ensure exercise objectives are met.
Assess the nations performance against the 2013-14 NEP Principals Objectives;
Evaluate the readiness of local, state, territorial, tribal and federal officials to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to and recover from catastrophic incidents in a coordinated and unified manner; and
Satisfy the requirements for a national level exercise as described in the Post Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act.
ALASKA SHIELD: Alaska Shield commemorates the anniversary of the 1964 9.2 magnitude Great Alaskan Earthquake by replicating the earthquakes effects and resulting tsunami.
ARDENT SENTRY 14: The Department of Defense aligned key components of the annual ARDENT SENTRY 14 exercise with ALASKA SHIELD, focusing on Defense Support to Civilian Authorities mission.
Nuclear Weapon Accident/Incident Exercise: The Nuclear Weapon Accident/Incident Exercise (NUWAIX) 2014 accident occurs during a secure transportation convoy of nuclear weapons within the Continental United States. Intelligence and national leadership will need to quickly determine the cause and significance of the accident.
Eagle Horizon 2014: Eagle Horizon 2014 will focus on continuity of operations and reconstitution planning, requiring federal departments and agencies to activate continuity plans and perform their Primary Mission Essential Functions from their alternate facilities.
Silver Phoenix 2014: The Silver Phoenix combination of operations- and discussion-based exercises will examine the full range of recovery efforts and operations commencing upon the notification that a catastrophic incident has occurred. The exercises will explore the challenges associated with examining, prioritizing and conducting recovery activities involving multiple geographically dispersed and competing events using the National Disaster Recovery Framework.

You've got to admit there is no end to the Feds creativity in spending our hard-earned tax money. I guess they view it as their money once it hits Washington. There seems to be no accountability or no answering to anyone. It gets a bit tiresome to hear or read headlines saying the Feds "target" this group or that group. Don't they tire of diddling each other in D.C.? And then they try to pass what they are doing as useful, valuable work.
[FT] For years people have predicted the Republican party's demise. The decline of whites as a share of the US population and the spread of tolerant values, such as support for gay marriage, would gradually snuff out its appeal. Yet the Grand Old Party has a stubborn way of bouncing back. The coming midterm elections in November are unlikely to be an exception, while the Republican field for the next presidential election looks stronger than at any time since 2000. Tomorrow may indeed arrive at some point. But for the time being, today is going pretty well for the Republicans.
Take the fast-approaching congressional elections. President Barack Obama I inhaled. That was the point... is giving everything he has in terms of fundraising to retain Democratic control of the Senate. The remainder of his presidency depends on it. This year is unlikely to buck the trend.

Polling of the Latino's in Texas show a larger percentage of them unhappy with Obambi now. Obamacae is biting a lot of them in the pocket book and reducing the number of full time jobs they used to get. Also abortion, especially third trimester abortion is not popular among them even among the ones who are not Catholic. While the majority probably won't vote for Republicans, enough of them are to make it pretty much impossible for Wendy Davis to win anything and the Dem's hope of turning Texas Blue despite the money they've thrown into the state,boobs up in the fish bowl.

They come here in order to have kids born in the USA - the majority of babies born in border counties are of illegal immigrant parents - lots of whom head for the border when contractions start. Are we going to turn them away at the hospital if they don't produce ACA papers? Of course not; we'll hand them voter registration papers.
