Ex-lawmaker who was jailed over January 6 riot seeks US House seat
[IsraelTimes] Derrick Evans of West Virginia declares candidacy 2 years after storming the Capitol, says he chose announcement date ’because it’s an important anniversary in US history’.

Two years to the day after storming the US Capitol, a former West Virginia state politician who served prison time for his role in the riot said Friday that he hopes to return to the scene of his crime as an elected official.

Derrick Evans, who livestreamed himself on Facebook cheering on what he described as a "revolution" at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, announced he will run for a US House seat in 2024.

Economy
Biden admin quietly admits canceling Keystone XL Pipeline cost thousands of jobs, billions of dollars
[FoxNews] The Biden administration published a congressionally mandated report highlighting the positive economic benefits the Keystone XL Pipeline would have had if President Biden didn't revoke its federal permits.

The report, which the Department of Energy (DOE) completed in late December without any public announcement, says the Keystone XL project would have created between 16,149 and 59,000 jobs and would have had a positive economic impact of between $3.4-9.6 billion, citing various studies. A previous report from the federal government published in 2014 determined 3,900 direct jobs and 21,050 total jobs would be created during construction which was expected to take two years.

But immediately after taking office in January 2021, Biden canceled the pipeline's permits, effectively shutting the project down.

"The Biden administration finally owned up to what we have known all along — killing the Keystone XL Pipeline cost good-paying jobs, hurt Montana’s economy and was the first step in the Biden administration’s war on oil and gas production in the United States," Sen. Steve Daines. R-Mont., said Thursday in a statement. "Unfortunately, the administration continues to pursue energy production anywhere but the United States."

"These policies may appeal to the woke left but hurt Montana’s working families," he continued. "I’ll keep fighting back against Biden’s anti-energy agenda and supporting Montana energy projects and jobs."

The DOE was forced to issue the report after Daines and Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, successfully inserted a bill mandating the report into the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Biden signed into law in November 2021. The agency was required to publish the report within 90 days of the bill's passage but ultimately waited more than a year before releasing it.

In a statement Thursday, the DOE noted that the project would have had minimal permanent job impacts, but didn't mention the thousands of jobs that were estimated during the construction of the pipeline.

"The U.S. Department of Energy released a report evaluating existing analysis on economic and job effects of the XL portion of Keystone pipeline," the DOE told Fox News Digital. "It concluded there were limited job impacts, with approximately 50 permanent jobs estimated to have been created were the pipeline operational."

Biden's decision to cancel the pipeline has received widespread criticism from Republican lawmakers and energy industry representatives who have argued it would have helped keep gas prices down and ensure energy security.

Keystone XL had been slated to be completed early this year and transport an additional 830,000 barrels of crude oil from Canada to the U.S. through an existing pipeline network, according to its operator, TC Energy.

The project labor agreement that TC Energy signed in August 2020 with four labor unions promised the pipeline would create 42,000 American jobs and provide $2 billion in total wages.

TC Energy ultimately gave up on the project in June 2021 as a result of Biden's decision. Last year, a federal judge tossed a legal challenge from nearly two dozen states asking the court to reinstate the pipeline's permits.

"The Department of Energy finally admitted to the worst-kept secret about the Keystone Pipeline: President Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline sacrificed thousands of American jobs," Risch said Thursday.

"To make matters worse, his decision moved the U.S. further away from energy independence and lower gas prices at a time when inflation and gas prices are drastically impacting Americans’ pocketbooks," he added.

"The president must turn to American-made energy and jobs rather than dictators and despots to fix the energy crisis he created on his first day in office."

The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Government Corruption
Rep. Massie Confirms Seat On ‘Church Committee,' Vows To Reveal Any ‘Illegal Or Unconstitutional' Gov't Acts
[Daily Caller] Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky told Fox News host Tucker Carlson Friday that Rep. Kevin McCarthy would appoint him to sit on a "Church Committee" charged with investigating potential federal government abuses and vowed to bring "forward" any "illegal or unconstitutional" findings.

"A lot of this is going to play out down in the SCIF [Secure Compartmented Information Facility]," Massie told Carlson. "You are going to have to trust the people that are put on this committee, and I’ll tell you what, if there’s something fishy going on, I’ll come out of the SCIF and tell you, but a lot of it will be behind closed doors, it will be classified information. If we find anything illegal or unconstitutional, we will bring it forward." (RELATED: Tucker Carlson Reveals Two Things McCarthy Should Do To Win Speaker’s Gavel)

McCarthy made progress during two ballots for speaker Friday, winning over 15 conservatives who previously voted for other candidates. McCarthy reportedly agreed to proposals from the House Freedom Caucus, including reducing the threshold for a "motion to vacate" to a single member of the House of Representatives.

The House is expected to reconvene late Friday evening.

I am supposed to meet with Massie in the near future regarding some potential Judiciary Committee concerns. While talking business, I planned to push a narrative focusing on preventing future lawfare debacles, so the Church Committee appointment is an happy opportunity.

I agree with your comments, but I don't think paid sources will be necessary. However, as you pointed out, the sources used will have to be well vetted. As will the investigators, especially the investigators. Many solid investigators with strong counter corruption backgrounds still exist and would salivate at the chance to clean up their professions.

El Paso scrambles to tear down migrant camps ahead of Biden border visit
A Reverse Potemkin.

With a Legit Media, THIS would be the story...like if BadOrangeMan was still Preznit. But again, that would require a Legit Media. Learn to Coal, Bitches [JustTheNews] El Paso has born the brunt of the migrant influx, with caravans arriving at the city en masse.

The West Texas town of El Paso is scrambling to dismantle the expansive migrant camps that have covered the town as President Joe Biden is slated to visit the town to survey the situation at the southern border.

The city has become host to many migrants, with tents and supplies strewn about the streets. El Paso police and Border Patrol agents have cleared out several of these camps and moved the migrants out of eyesight, four law enforcement officials told the Washington Examiner.

The Examiner's sources indicated that the migrants' activities had begun to make life more difficult for the residents of the time, who had pushed officials to address the issue.

"The [townspeople] that experienced it on a daily basis were fed up and they made it known," one source told the Examiner. "Crime was getting bad and many residents were complaining. Some migrants even took over private parking lots and were charging for people to use them for parking."

Biden announced earlier this week that he would make the trip, nearly two years after he had taken office. In that timeframe, roughly 4 million illegal migrants have entered the U.S. with a record 2.4 million entering in fiscal year 2022 alone. The Biden administration has made several rollbacks of Trump-era migration policies designed to stem the tide of illegal migration, but has repeatedly insisted that the border is not open.

El Paso has born the brunt of the migrant influx, with caravans arriving at the city en masse. In mid-December one such caravan of 1,000 migrants on 20 busses made their way into the city

Stronger limits proposed to control deadly soot pollution in the US
Happens in places we don't give a shit about.
[FoxNews] The Biden administration is proposing tougher standards for a deadly air pollutant, saying that reducing soot from tailpipes, smokestacks and wildfires could prevent thousands of premature deaths a year.

A proposal released Friday by the Environmental Protection Agency would set maximum levels of 9 to 10 micrograms of fine particle pollution per cubic meter of air, down from 12 micrograms set a decade ago under the Obama administration. The standard for particle pollution, more commonly known as soot, was left unchanged by then-President Donald Trump, who overrode a scientific recommendation for a lower standard in his final days in office.

Environmental and public health groups that have been pushing for a stronger standard were disappointed, saying the EPA proposal does not go far enough to limit emissions of what is broadly called "fine particulate matter," the tiny bits of soot we breathe in unseen from tailpipes, wildfires, factory and power plant smokestacks and other sources.

In a development that could lead to an even lower standard, the EPA said Friday it also would take comments on a range of ideas submitted by a scientific advisory committee, including a proposal that would lower the maximum standard for soot to 8 micrograms. A microgram is one-millionth of a gram.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan said the proposal to strengthen the national ambient air quality standards for fine particle pollution would help prevent serious health problems, including asthma attacks, heart attacks and premature death that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. Those populations include children, older adults and those with heart and lung conditions as well as low-income and minority communities throughout the United States.

"This administration is committed to working to ensure that all people, regardless of the color of their skin, the community they live in or the money in their pocket, have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink and the opportunity to lead a healthy life,'' Regan said at a news conference. "At EPA, we are working every single day to create cleaner and healthier communities for all and have been doing so for over 50 years.''

#15  At a certain point I plan to contact my rep to tell him that I am very disappointed that he supported MCCarthy and to let him know that when McCarthy betrays us, I will support his most viable primary challenger.

Idaho farmer blasts Biden over windmill project: It'll 'destroy the desert,' ship energy to California
[FoxNews] An Idaho farmer leading the charge against a potential wind farm project said Thursday the plan will leave locals in the lurch and cause irreversible damage to prime grazing land and scenery.

Dean Dimond, with the group Stop Lava Ridge, told "Jesse Watters Primetime" ranchers, the regional hunting industry and the local aquifer will feel the effects of having dozens of windmills spring up.

"The ranchers that have cows that have ran out on [the land] for generations, it's just going to be devastating, especially during the construction period, so it's just not going to be good for the whole valley," he said.

Dimond said he has not been personally consulted about the project, but other landowners who have grazing allotments on the desert lands have been, with underwhelming results.

"My friends… have been approached and offered just pennies of what it would actually cost them to move off of the desert," he said. "And it will destroy the desert, so they'll never be able to come back on [it] again like they are now."

Dimond said he has not talked with a single Idahoan who supports the project, adding the community is further upset that the energy the windmills will produce would reportedly be shipped to California instead of benefiting the local area.

"We're one of the reddest states in the nation, and they're shipping it all over to California. Maybe a little bit will stay in Nevada."

While there is a possibility Idaho utilities could submit bids for the energy, Dimond said because the chief bidder would be California, which is home to a much costlier grid, Idaho interests would likely be easily outbid.

"That's one thing that they're finding out here in Idaho is, you know, ranching is a way of life for us: farming, ranching and living out here, and we don't do it for the money," he said.

"I mean, we all do it to make a living. Don't get me wrong that way. But we're not out here to become billionaires and rich. It's a way of life, and so when they start coming in and throwing their billions-of-dollars numbers around and stuff, it just kind of turns us off."

Host Jesse Watters reported the Biden administration is eyeing the Lava Ridge project, which he said would lead to the construction of hundreds of turbines over 75,000 acres of government land.
