California ignores toxic waste dumped offshore, spends billions on clean energy
[JustTheNews] While the EPA has created a task force to examine the situation, not a single report has been completed since it began its investigation in 2021.

Little is being done by state and federal officials to address new reports highlighting tens of thousands of barrels of radioactive waste dumped off the shore of Southern California causing significant marine life and potentially upstream human damage.

While the EPA has created a task force to examine the situation, not a single report has been completed since it began its investigation in 2021. State Republicans are calling upon Governor Gavin Newsom to take action as the damage from this catastrophic dumping from decades ago continues unabated.

After a 2020 Los Angeles Times article on deep-sea dumping until 1982 of half a million barrels of highly toxic DDT, a popular but now banned pesticide that causes significant reproductive and liver harm, the EPA launched an investigation in 2021 to determine the operational and regulatory history of the dumping. That first report, which, two years later is still incomplete, is supposed to lead to a second report on the nature of contamination and areas of waste drum disposal, a third report on environmental conditions and trends, and then a fourth report — if conditions at the dumping sites are “determined to threaten human health or the environment,” on “conduct[ing] technology screening of potential options for addressing risk.”

Given that the first report is yet to have been completed, it does not appear likely that the EPA’s research on any mitigation for the dumping — the fourth step outlined in their process — will start any time soon.

Now, new reports are showing the dumping is even worse than expected and included the dumping of 56,000 barrels’ equivalent of radioactive waste, suggesting the site’s damage may prove even worse than expected. While the area directly offshore from Palos Verdes, where the DDT manufacturer facility produced its chemicals, has been somewhat mitigated by a federal Superfund targeting the facility’s disposal of toxic waste through sewage pipes into the shallow coast, this larger offshore dumping is getting media attention but no government action.

Amid state efforts to spend billions on clean energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions — carbon dioxide is determined not to be a carcinogen, unlike DDT or even wildfire ash — state Republicans are wondering why California Governor Gavin Newsom is not focusing more resources or attention on clear, material environmental concerns.

“If Sacramento legislators are really worried about the environment, then this needs to be taken seriously,” said State Sen. Brian Dahle to The Center Square in response to the offshore dumping. “California Democrats love to pick and choose ‘clean energy’ initiatives, instead of addressing root causes. I’ve been advocating for years for better forest management, but they’d rather let our forests burn. The hypocrisy is unbelievable.”

Arizona counties cancel voter registrations of non-citizens, most added to rolls by third parties
[JTN] Of the 186 non-citizen voters in Pima County, 120 of them were registered through political parties and voter registration drives.

More than 400 non-citizens have been removed from the voter rolls of two Arizona counties since 2015, with most of the removed Pima County registrants being registered to vote through third parties.

Arizona’s most populous counties removed non-citizens from their voter rolls after some had already voted in elections. While many in Pima County were registered through political parties and voter registration drives, the more common means across the country are through states' Departments of Motor Vehicles.

According to a report by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) released on Tuesday, Pima County has removed 186 non-citizens from its voter rolls while Maricopa County has removed 222 since 2015, with the majority of those in Pima being registered to vote through third parties.

Of the 186 non-citizen voters in Pima County, seven cast ballots across two federal and local elections. A total of 120 of the records, or approximately 65%, “came from ‘political parties and group drives,’” according to the information given to PILF by Pima County. The county data didn’t include which third-party drives registered the non-citizens.

The year with the greatest amount of non-citizen voter records created in Pima County was 2022 at 132. The midterm election year of 2022 also had the highest number of non-citizen voters who cast ballots in the county, which was six in total during the general election.

Also, 108 of the non-citizen registrants in Pima County did not choose a party affiliation. A total of 46 registered as Democrats, 28 Republicans, three Independents, and one Libertarian.

The new report included information from PILF’s report last April on Maricopa County, which found that 2020 was the year with the most ballots cast by non-citizens in that county, a total of five in the general election.

While both Pima and Maricopa counties released their non-citizen voter records to PILF, the law firm has two ongoing lawsuits against Alameda County, Calif., and the state of Pennsylvania trying to obtain their non-citizen voter records.

Lauren Bis, PILF director of Communications and Engagement, told Just the News on Friday that most of the non-citizen voters self-reported casting ballots, since they must do so when going through the naturalization process to become a U.S. citizen. Because of this, Bis said that the actual number of non-citizens on the voter rolls is likely "much higher.”

PILF President J. Christian Adams told the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show last year that the "vast majority" of non-citizens on voter rolls "are motor voter registrations" – referring to the 1993 National Voter Registration Act that made it easier for people applying for a driver's license to also register to vote.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Adams said, “Federal law hampers states’ abilities to validate citizenship during the voter registration process. The federal government could update Motor Voter to allow states to require proof of citizenship and add citizenship to Motor Voter’s reasonable list maintenance requirements. Arizona is limited to building imperfect systems to address the problem of foreign nationals voting.”

Registrants are asked if they are U.S. citizens on voter registration forms. However, states are not allowed to have any other criteria to prove that voters are U.S. citizens to vote in federal elections.

Arizona is a state with the unusual situation of bifurcated elections, in which residents who provide proof of U.S. citizenship can vote in all elections while the others may vote only in federal elections, resulting in ballots cast by voters who haven’t proven their U.S. citizenship.

State law requires residents registering to vote in the state to provide proof of U.S. citizenship.

However, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that Arizona must accept U.S. voter registration forms because of federal requirements under the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, the state allows residents registering to vote who don't provide proof of citizenship to receive ballots for federal races only.

When residents of Arizona register to vote or update their registration, an election system accesses their driver's license records to verify whether they have proof of citizenship.

Those without documentation are ineligible to vote in state elections and registered as "federal-only" voters, according to the Associated Press.

Previously, Just the News reported that the number of federal-only ballots cast in Arizona’s counties in the 2020 election was at least 5,697. Information regarding federal-only ballots recently provided by Cochise County to Just the News brings that number up to 5,798.

As more illegal immigrants are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, some states are letting non-citizens vote in local elections. California, Maryland, Vermont, and Washington, D.C., allow non-citizens to vote in local elections.

New York City approved a law in 2021 that would permit non-citizens to vote in local elections, but a New York appeals court rejected it on Wednesday, ruling that it violated the state constitution.

Also, San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors appointed a Hong Kong immigrant who’s a non-citizen to the city's election commission last week.

Meanwhile, seven states have specified that non-citizens aren’t allowed to vote in state and local elections: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, North Dakota, and Ohio.

Bis said that in states where non-citizens can vote in local elections, the locality “would have to keep separate records and voter rolls like Arizona but for the opposite purpose because they’re allowed to vote.”

She added that this system “seems way more complicated” and that it “could lead to mistakes by localities” where they “accidentally put [non-citizens] on the wrong voter rolls.”

You're on your own: Shocking moment CBP releases hundreds of migrants into San Diego after border city ran out of cash to care for them
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Shocking video showed border patrol agents releasing hundreds of migrants out at a San Diego bus stop just a week after the city had to close a shelter intended for them due to lack of funding.

Non-profit SBCS
... formerly know as South Bay Community Services...
shut the recently-opened migrant facility for good a week ago - reflecting the bleak picture across the country as the numbers of asylum seekers coming to the US remain sky-high.

The over 350 migrants were left to their own devices on the street after CBP let them free at a transit center, though aid groups tried to help them as best they could, attempting to put together makeshift facilities and attempted to take them to a parking lot so they could charge their phones and hail rides to the airport.

They were also left with nowhere stand and no public bathrooms in a completely full parking lot.

Many of the migrants - who came from anywhere from South America to Africa to China - were still grateful to be here, with plans to either meet up with family or head to immigration court trials in other cities.

Services had been stretched to breaking point with up to 1,500 people flooding in per day.
We’ve seen reports that the illegals, shut out of Texas now that Governor Abbott has pretty much closed that section of the border, are choosing California instead. Perhaps one day the locals will decide to resist their government’s bright ideas.
Mayor Todd Gloria had just two years earlier attempted to expand funding for migrants, opening an official city Office of Immigrant Affairs and the city spent $6million to attempt to provide services.

South Bay Community Services used that money on $750,000 for personnel, $152,000 on operating expenses and the rest to serve around 81,000 migrants dating back to October, with other charities and shelters at capacity and unable to help.

Nora Vargas, chair of the San Diego County board of supervisors, has echoed the worries of many major city mayors and wrote a letter to President Joe Biden begging for help.

Government Corruption
Just the News sues Fani Willis office to force release of communications with Biden White House
[JTN] On Thursday, the foundation representing Just the News filed the complaint after the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office claimed there were no records of White House communications or meetings.
No records? Didn't Sweetdick bill 24 hrs in one day for that meeting?
The legal foundation representing Just the News filed a complaint in Fulton County, Georgia, Wednesday requesting the court compel the county’s District Attorney’s Office to comply with an open records request to obtain communications that DA Fani Willis or her office had with the Biden White House.

Just the News is being represented by the America First Legal Foundation in the case.

"AFL is pleased to represent Just the News in this critically important case. Georgia law recognizes that ’open government is essential to a free, open, and democratic society.’ It encourages public access to government records so citizens may evaluate the efficient and proper functioning of its institutions. Here, there is substantial evidence that the Fulton County District Attorney’s office has ceased to function properly; the requested records must be produced." said Reed D. Rubinstein, America First Legal Senior Vice President.

"Determining whether this local district attorney had any contact with the Biden White House in the Trump prosecution is a matter of public interest regardless of your political stripe. Prosecutions should be free of political influence. I want to thank America First Legal for representing us in this very important quest for the truth," said John Solomon, CEO and Editor in Chief of Just the News.

In January, Just the News submitted a request to DA Willis’ office after reports emerged that the special prosecutor she had appointed to handle the 2020 election interference case against former President Donald Trump had met with Biden White House officials.

Just the News requested records of any meetings and any communications between Willis or her special prosecutor and White House and Justice Department officials.

On January 25, 2024, in a hearing before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, the DA’s office told the court that it had communicated with the White House in two written letters about "logistics and procedures."

On February 12, however, the DA’s office responded, claiming that there were no records responsive to the request despite acknowledging the aforementioned letters before the court.

Willis has come under scrutiny for her romantic relationship with Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor which she appointed to handle the election interference case against the former president. One codefendant in the case filed a motion for Willis to be disqualified because of the alleged improper romantic and financial relationship: Wade was paid nearly $654,000 in legal fees and he subsequently paid for himself and Willis to go on vacations, according to the motion.

Yet, little attention has been paid to the communications between Biden’s White House staff and the DA’s office, which would not mark the first time that the White House has been involved in one of the cases against Trump.

In the summer of 2022, the Biden White House also facilitated the criminal probe by the Justice Department into his predecessor by waiving executive privilege claims and directly requesting the National Archives to provide the FBI access to documents delivered by Trump to the agency, which bolstered the classified documents case being pursued by DOJ special counsel Jack Smith. Smith’s aide also visited the Biden White House weeks before announcing an indictment against Trump in the case.

So much for voting machines NOT being connected to the internets.
[Gateway] The Republican Primary is well underway in South Carolina and already there are reports of issues with voting tabulators in at least one precinct in Richland County.

Real America’s Voice Michelle Backus was on the ground in Satchel Ford Elementary in Columbia, SC. She spoke Tony Burkes, a voter in that particular precinct. He said after he filled out his ballot and ran it through the scanner, he received an error message.

Now tell me if this sounds familiar: A poll worker then told the voter that "they didn’t have internet" and that he would have to "fold it and slide it into another slot. It looked kind of like a trash can."

Richland County, SC uses the ES&S DS200 optical scanners, as well as the ES&S ExpressPoll and ExpressVote systems.

We have been told for quite some time that the tabulators do not connect to the internet. Election officials have claimed that pollbooks must be hooked to the internet in order to ensure voters are credited as voting after the process. According to the man, this occurred after he received a ballot and while he was scanning it in the tabulator.

He said there were several other voters that he saw at the time that were also puzzled by the issue.
