People in Fayette County, Pee Aye (Fayette Nam to the locals) talked funny. One night I was taking down the list over the phone and the girl said Thomas blubblubblub. I asked here to repeat herself and got the same thing. I said, "you are going to have to spell that one for me." She said, S-M-I-T-H, blubblubblub." I said, "Uh, OK..."

Mike Pence Calls for Ilhan Omar to Be Removed from House Foreign Affairs Committee
h/t Instapundit
Today, in an interview with Fox News, Vice President Pence called on the Democratic House leadership to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"Ilhan Omar has made statements, anti-Semitic comments against our most cherished ally, Israel, that ought to be rejected by every American," Pence said in the interview. "And frankly the fact that very recently, she’s been trying to blame the United States of America for the deprivation and the poverty brought on by the dictatorship in Venezuela tells me ... Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has no place on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Democratic leadership ought to remove her."

Trump, Pareto, and the Fall of the Elites
The Italian sociologist and economist Vilfredo Pareto died in 1923. He saw men’s beliefs and actions as motivated by sentiment and self-interest. The ostensible motivations given for certain beliefs and actions, such as helping the underprivileged, are often cover for actions actually motivated by a desire to protect the privileges of the elites -- the power structure.

William Barr vs. Eric Holder: A Tale of Two Attorneys General
[NationalReview] Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has declared it a "constitutional crisis" that Attorney General William Barr refuses to divulge the small parts of the Mueller report that contain grand-jury material. By a straight party-line vote, the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Barr in contempt of Congress. What did Pelosi think when Barr’s predecessor, Eric Holder, refused to divulge documents to a congressional committee and was held in contempt? "Ridiculous!" she said. What did Holder and Obama say? That the House subpoena was a violation of "separation of powers." To partisans, the difference between the cases is obvious.

To partisans, the difference between the cases is obvious. Barr is defending Trump; Holder was Obama’s self-proclaimed "wing man." That is enough for many journalists and most politicians. The rest of us might want to know: What is the legal or constitutional difference between Holder’s refusal to provide documents and Barr’s?

Here is the background of the Holder contempt. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), a unit of Holder’s Department of Justice (DOJ), conducted an operation called "Fast & Furious," intended to track illegal gun sales. In fact it put hundreds of weapons in the hands of Mexican criminal gangs, leading to the death of an American officer. On February 2, 2011, after news of the operation emerged, Holder’s assistant attorney general sent a letter to Congress declaring that the Obama administration had no knowledge of the operation. This letter was false, as Holder later admitted.

Nancy Pelosi and Jerrold Nadler did not declare this a constitutional crisis. They backed Holder.

On June 19, 2012, President Obama invoked executive privilege, and on the same day, the House committee voted to hold Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress. The committee vote was 23‐17. The full House voted Holder in contempt by a lopsided vote of 255‐67, with 17 Democrats voting for the contempt and many more staying home to avoid having to cast a vote.

How does this compare with the Barr contempt? Under regulations written by the Clinton administration, the special prosecutor is instructed to submit a "confidential" report to the attorney general at the end of an investigation. It is entirely the prerogative of the attorney general to decide whether to release any of the report to the public or to Congress. In his discretion, Attorney General Barr decided to release the Mueller report in its entirety, but for two categories of redactions, which were made in conjunction with the Mueller team.
One main difference is that Barr sought to protect grand jury information by redacting it which is legally required whereas under Holder, Holder did it for political reasons to basically cover-up an illegal operation operated out the government and to protect Obama's presidency. Barr made nearly all of the Mueller report available to the public and even more in a SCIF. In this case Barr is following the law and the Dems are using the law in a political way; they want to break the law under the guise of following the law.

We know that Mexican drug cartel money corrupts the Mexican government. I keep wondering how much of this money finds its way north, into the pockets of our government officials.

#2  Another difference is that Barr is banned, by FEDERAL LAW, from disclosure.

Personally I think he should hand something over, and when they take it arrest them for violating non-disclosure laws by essentially ordering him to hand it over.

Fix air travel in America: Raise taxes Adjust the passenger facility charge
[The Hill] Within the infrastructure debate in Washington, let us not lose sight of the condition of America’s airports.

President Trump and newly elected members of Congress campaigned on a promise to fix our country’s outdated infrastructure, often citing airports as a prime example. But if the past has taught us anything, it’s that everyone holds hands when it comes to talking about infrastructure, but points fingers when it comes to paying for it.

The case for investing in airports is clear. U.S. airports count themselves among the world’s busiest, yet no U.S. airports ‐ once the envy of the world ‐ crack the top 30 for the world’s best airports. From London’s Heathrow to Seoul’s Incheon, countries around the world ‐ with whom we directly compete for tourism dollars ‐ have prioritized air travel infrastructure, while America’s aging, inadequate facilities are creating more hassle and congestion than ever.

Without improvements, passengers won’t just lose their time and patience: the U.S. economy stands to lose billions of dollars in travel spending if nothing is done to address the state of our country’s air travel infrastructure. In 2016, Americans avoided 32 million trips because of airport hassles, costing $24 billion in spending.

Can this problem be solved? Since Congress is loath to raise taxes, the outlook for any transportation pay-for is usually bleak. But, when it comes to airports, there is a simple tax-free solution: raise the cap on the passenger facility charge (PFC), which gives airports the option to adjust their own user fees if they need infrastructure improvements.

China-Japan-Koreas
No, There Isn't Moral Equivalence Between Communist China And The U.S.
[The Federalist] Just as trade negotiations between China and the United States may be reaching their crescendo, an outspoken ex-conservative has made an assertion about the People’s Republic of China (PRC) likely to warm the hearts of the leaders of the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Writing in the Washington Post on his desire for an "unapologetic atheist" to someday ascend to the White House, Max Boot says:
There are too many examples of evil committed in the name of God to assume that people act morally because they are afraid of divine punishment. More likely, people are social animals who develop moral codes so they can live at peace with their neighbors. That’s why almost all societies, whether religious or not, have similar taboos against murder, robbery, rape and other sins.
Most of China’s 1.4 billion people have no religious affiliation, and fewer than 7 percent are monotheists. Is there any reason to believe that China is a less moral place than the United States, where 70.6 percent profess to be Christians? [Emphasis mine]

Boot’s apparent attempt to draw moral equivalence between China and the United States would be news to the 1.4 billion Chinese citizens living in the world’s leading surveillance state‐to the extent they are able to read his article behind the Great Firewall, and not one of the 1 to 2 million Uighurs currently imprisoned in "re-education camps" or countless others held captive for challenging the Party line.

It would be news to members of the dissenting Chinese diaspora being tracked down and targeted by the Communist regime at every corner of the Earth. And it would be news to those peoples whose sovereignty is threatened by the CCP and the People’s Liberation Army that serves it‐"it" being the Party, not the country.

Beyond the Chinese people and those in China’s direct orbit, Boot’s claim would also be news to the more than 20 million U.S. federal government employees or applicants, and their families, friends, and colleagues, who had their most sensitive information stolen by China in the 2014 Office of Personnel Management hack. It would be news to the entrepreneurs who have seen hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of intellectual property and technology pilfered by the Chinese government. And it would be news to those nations who are being crushed under the weight of Chinese debt if not foreclosed upon under the PRC’s loan-to-own Belt and Road strategy.
"Stolen by China" - did you read that, (He)erb?

#4  The Stupid it burns!
Most of China’s 1.4 billion people have no religious affiliation,...
The Chinese Communist Party is the official state religion (they just don't call it one!) and it actively persecutes followers of rival beliefs. Remember the Falun Gong purges?
...and fewer than 7 percent are monotheists.
Monotheists meaning the Abrahamic Monotheisms (Christianity, Muhammedism, Judaism in all their permutations), is that what he is saying? Historically the Chinese have been polytheists, practiced Ancestor Worship, practiced Confucianism and Daoism ... did I forget Buddhism. An Atheist wasteland they ain't, Mr. Boot.
...Is there any reason to believe that China is a less moral place than the United States, where 70.6 percent profess to be Christians?
Moral meaning what, exactly? "...living at peace with their neighbors" doesn't mean that they haven't been happy to starve, enslave and slaughter strangers ... just not their immediate neighbors and family.

Brave Pro-Abortion Legislator Sims Challenges Group Of Nuns To Fistfight
[Babylon Bee] HARRISBURG, PA‐Pennsylvania's favorite pro-abortion legislator, Brian Sims, wanted to show he was tough. While most guys would join a local MMA club or luchador circuit, Sims isn't most guys. He had a much better idea. Sims wandered into a local Catholic church and challenged a group of singing nuns to a fistfight over the issue of abortion.

"Hey nuns, come on down here and fight me if you want to show abortion is bad!" he called out, adding several slurs and expletives to his courageous speech. "Yeah, that's what I thought! Chicken, eh? Probably hateful Chick-fil-A chicken too, and not woke chicken like Popeye's!"

Several nuns were about ready to perform a double reverse elbow-drop on him from the rafters, but a priest stopped them, according to witnesses.

"Oh, I see, running away, eh? You yellow [expletive]! I'll punch your face off with my bravery!" he cried as he slowly backed away.

At publishing time, Sims had hastily moved along when someone his own size showed up to accept his challenge.

Johnny Carson TV Jim Fowler, former host of ‘Wild Kingdom,' dies at 89
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) ‐ Jim Fowler, a naturalist who rose to fame on the long-running television program "Wild Kingdom" and who famously bantered with Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show," has died. He was 89.

Fowler died peacefully Wednesday at his home in Norwalk, Connecticut, surrounded by family, said Jennifer Whitney, a spokeswoman for Mutual of Omaha, which sponsored the show.

"Jim was one in a million, and with his passing we’ve lost a true wildlife icon," she said in an email. "His memory will remain through the work he did on Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, as well as through the many parks, wildlife centers and nature preserves to which he lent his expertise. But perhaps his most important legacy will be the role he played in inspiring the next generation of naturalists and wildlife experts."

"Wild Kingdom" debuted in 1963. Fowler began as an assistant and later became a co-host with Marlin Perkins before taking over as host.

Fowler had his arm swallowed by an anaconda and was charged by a gorilla and other creatures.

With song lyrics that include: "[They’re] talkin’ bout how the weather’s changing / the ice is melting / like the world is ending," you would think he would try to live a low carbon lifestyle, but alas.

Flashback: Drake’s climate change epiphany ‐ He uses the song as a platform to rail against climate change and examine his own complicity in the ongoing degradation of the natural world...

Drake slips in: ’[they’re] talkin’ bout how the weather’s changing / the ice is melting / like the world is ending.’ One might, perhaps, assume Drake is referring to the usual ice melting in post-winter Toronto; especially given the line’s casual delivery and the beat-drop of the bridge that follows immediately after, as if forgetting he said it at all. But as we drop off this icy berg into the bridge ‐ ’She asks me, "who are you gonna be, when it’s all over, when it’s all over?"’ ‐ it is apparent that Drake’s simple moment of contemplation has had a transformative effect....

He enters a state of existential reflection, with a realization of his impending mortality: what will be the intrinsic value of his music, if the ice caps melt and the world is no longer sustainable? Or perhaps more pertinently, he realises that with his stadium-sized cultural standing, and ability to impact on the world at large, he is in an undeniable position of power to enact meaningful change and ensure the survival of the planet’s ecosystem ‐ a network nearly as complicated, beautiful, and wonderfully diverse as Drake himself.

Pentagon To Transfer $1.5 Bln To Border Wall From Afghan Forces, Other Areas
[Jpost] Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan has approved the transfer of $1.5 billion to build more than 80 miles of barriers on the border with Mexico, U.S. official said on Friday, including taking about $600 million in savings from an account meant for Afghan cops.

"The funds were drawn from a variety of sources, including cost savings, programmatic changes and revised requirements, and therefore will have minimal impact on force readiness," Shanahan said in a statement.

A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the latest transfer would include $604 million from funds for the Afghan cops, which are struggling to hold territory against Talibs.
Update from Tolo News at noon EDT has details:
The latest move was opposed by congressional Democrats, who also criticized a March transfer of $1 billion in military money to fund Republican President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s wall.

Shanahan said that the US military had more than 4,000 service members on the border, along with 19 aircraft.

All 10 Democrats on Senate appropriations subcommittees that handle defense, veterans affairs and related spending, wrote to Shanahan to oppose the decision. "We are dismayed that the Department has chosen to prioritize a political campaign promise over the disaster relief needs of our service members," they said.

A US official said the latest transfer would include $604 million from funds for the Afghan cops, which are struggling to hold territory against Talibs.

The United States had appropriated $4.9 billion in support for those forces this year. The official said the money was taken from that account because they found savings in contracts.

"It took less money to meet the policy commitment than we thought," another U.S. official said, adding this was not the first time money had been reprogrammed from the account.

The remainder of the money will come from a chemical demilitarization program, a retirement account, funds for Pakistain and Air Force programs.

Immigration is a signature issue of Trump’s presidency and re-election campaign. He declared a national emergency in order to redirect funding to build a border wall without Congress’ approval, and his fellow Republicans in Congress sustained his veto of legislation that would have stopped it.

Palestinian said killed in Gaza border riot in test of truce after fighting
[IsraelTimes] 30 maimed as thousands gather on border; UN envoy speaks with Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, chief on implementing understandings with Israel to prevent renewed violence.

One Paleostinian was killed and 30 were maimed as thousands gathered on the Gazoo Strip border Friday for weekly protests, according to Gazoo’s Hamas-run health ministry. The violence was seen as a major test for the calm that has prevailed since intense fighting last weekend between Israel and terror groups in the coastal enclave.
Aaaaannnnd you failed. Because ...you're Paleos
Some 6,000 Paleostinians took part in demonstrations at five locations along the border. Several hundred people were rioting, throwing explosives and rocks at Israeli forces. IDF soldiers responded with tear gas and occasional live fire.

Twenty-four-year-old Abdullah Abed al-A’al was killed on the border near the southern Gazoo city of Rafah, Gazoo’s health ministry reported. It said 30 were maimed by live fire in the festivities.

The IDF’s Arabic-language front man shared footage from the festivities near the southern Gazoo city of Rafah on his Twitter account, which appeared to show Paleostinians attempting to damage the border fence.

Ahead of the protests, UN Middle East peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov spoke with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
. The two discussed efforts to implement understandings reportedly reached between Israel and Hamas to prevent renewed violence, the Kan public broadcaster quoted Haniyeh’s office as saying.

Israel has refused to officially confirm the ceasefire understandings.

In addition to the border rioting, a fire broke out Friday in the nearby Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council. Authorities were probing if the blaze was started by an incendiary balloon flown from the Gazoo Strip, Hebrew media reported.

Earlier Friday, Israel began easing restrictions on Gazoo put in place amid the latest fighting, including reopening a 12 nautical mile fishing zone off the coast of the Strip. It also reopened the crossings into and out of Gazoo at midnight Thursday, after they had been closed for Memorial Day and Independence Day, as is standard practice.

COGAT, the Defense Ministry body that liaises with the Paleostinians, said in a statement late Thursday that the fishing zone expansion is "part of the civilian policy for prevention of deterioration in humanitarian conditions in the Gazoo Strip and is consistent with the policy of distinguishing between gunnies and the general population."

The statement warned that security forces would "handle any deviation" from the agreement.

IDF denies Reports Of Two Gaza Rockets Fired On Israel On Friday

[Jpost] IDF spokesperson denied early Paleostinian reports of two rockets from Gazoo that were fired on Israel Friday evening. The alleged rockets followed the death of a 24 year old Paleostinian youth during the Friday festivities with IDF forces during the 'March of Return' protests.

Experts see Russia fingerprints on North Korea's new missile
[Ynet] The three new missiles North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
has tested over the past week are eerily familiar to military experts: They look just like a controversial and widely copied missile the Russian military has deployed to Syria and has been actively trying to sell abroad for years.

Ending a pause in ballistic missile launches that began in late 2017, and alarming North Korea's neighbors, Kim personally supervised the launch of the first missile from the country's east coast on Saturday and two more from the west on Thursday. All splashed down in the Pacific.

The missiles were short-range and the launches do not mean Kim has decided to end his self-imposed moratorium on testing long-range missiles that could reach the United States mainland. They do indicate, however, that Kim is methodically expanding the battle readiness of his missile forces and that could have a major impact on the safety of American allies and U.S. forces in the region.

The missiles bear a strong resemblance to the Russian-designed Iskander, a short-range, nuclear-capable ballistic missile that has been in the Russian arsenal for more than a decade.

"There are Russian technology fingerprints all over it," said Marcus Schiller, a leading expert on North Korean missiles who is based in Germany.

180,000 Muslims pray peacefully at Al-Aqsa Mosque on first Friday of Ramadan
[IsraelTimes] Israel eases restrictions on travel from West Bank; police deploy hundreds of officers to ensure worshipers can mark the holy month at the Jerusalem flashpoint.

The Jerusalem Islamic Waqf organization which administers the site estimated that there were 180,000 worshipers, some 50 percent higher than last year, when around 120,000 people attended the first Friday prayers. Israeli estimates varied between 135,000 and 180,000.

Azzam al-Khatib, director general of Waqf, said the crowds reached the site "despite checkpoints and a large security presence." The prayers ended without any major incident, he told AFP

Israel Police said that they had deployed hundreds of officers and Border Police "to ensure that tens of thousands of worshipers could reach the site and at the same time prevent any incidents throughout the day."

Coordination between Paleostinian and Israeli authorities had improved at the checkpoint this year, the photographer said, making access to Jerusalem easier.

This was largely due to Israel opening a new crossing at the site in February that is designed to reduce friction at one of the largest crossing points between the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The IDF said some 75,000 people from the West Bank crossed into Israel for the prayers.

Israeli restrictions on Paleostinians from the West Bank are eased during the month of Ramadan, which began on Monday.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli TV claims Iran weighing attack on Saudi oil production facilities
[IsraelTimes] Channel 13 says Tehran has ruled out striking at US bases; quotes Arab sources saying some in IRGC want to hit Israeli targets, others warn of ’suicidal’ risk of conflict with US.

Israel has warned the US that Iran is contemplating targeting Saudi oil production facilities, an Israeli TV report said Friday night, as tensions between Tehran and the Trump Administration soar.

The unsourced Channel 13 report said the Iranians were "considering various aggressive acts" against American or American-allied targets. Tehran had looked at targeting American bases in the Gulf, but that had been deemed too drastic. The main target they were interested in was "Saudi oil production facilities," the TV report said. Such a strike would also send world oil prices soaring and enable Iran to get more income from its oil sales, the report added.

Channel 13 also quoted unnamed Arab intelligence sources saying there was a debate raging in the Iranian leadership about striking US and US-allied targets, with some in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pushing for attacks, including against Israeli targets, while others cautioned that it would be "suicidal" to get into serious military conflict with the US.

The Channel 13 report came four days after the same TV channel first reported that the Israeli Mossad had tipped off the White House two weeks ago about an Iranian plan to attack either a US or US-allied target. That earlier report did not specify potential targets for such an ostensible attack.

Channel 13’s military analyst Alon Ben-David said Friday that the Iranians might be "underestimating American determination" to defend US interests. "In Israel, there is an assessment that the prospect of confrontation between the US and Iran is growing ‐ because the US is ready to respond harshly to any attack" including on Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. Joo-hating imam delivers opening prayers in US House; separately Farrakhan doubles down on ‘Satanic Jooos’

An imam who has wished for the end of Zionism, called for a third Intifada and likened Israel to Nazi-era Germany delivered the opening prayer for a session of the US House of Representatives on Thursday.

Omar Suleiman, the founder and president of the Dallas-based Yaqeen Institute, an organization that describes itself as a resource about Islam, referred to recent attacks on houses of worship ‐ which has included synagogues in the United States ‐ in his opening remarks.

"Let us not be deterred by the hatred that has claimed the lives of innocent worshipers across the world, but emboldened by the love that gathered them together to remember you and gathered us together to remember them," Suleiman said in a short prayer after being introduced by House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi

, a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democrat.

Suleiman has a long record of incendiary social media statements about Israel, as compiled two years ago by Petra Marquardt-Bigman, a researcher, and posted on the Algeimeiner Jewish news site. He has on multiple occasions wished for a third Paleostinian Intifada, or violent uprising, likened Israeli troops to Nazis, and has wished for the end of Zionism, calling Zionists "the enemies of God." He is a backer of the boycott Israel movement.

Pelosi’s office did not reply to multiple requests for comment by publishing time.

French military frees hostages in Burkina Faso, two commandos killed
PARIS (Reuters) - French commandos rescued four foreign hostages including two French citizens from a militant group in Burkina Faso, France’s military said on Friday, adding that two of the elite soldiers were killed in the night-time operation.

French special forces carried out the raid under cover of dark over the night of Thursday-Friday, supported by U.S. intelligence and troops from France’s Barkhane operation deployed in the Sahel region to counter Islamist militants.

All four hostages were safe, President Emmanuel Macron’s office said, adding that a U.S. woman and a South Korean woman were also freed in the covert operation.

"The precise and determined actions of French soldiers allowed us to take out the kidnappers while protecting the lives of the hostages," France’s army chief Francois Lecointre told a news conference, describing the militant group as "terrorists".

Four kidnappers were killed and two escaped, he said.

Florida Man Who Tortured Child with Shock Collar Commits Suicide in Jail
[Breitbart] A Florida man who used a shock collar and other implements including a BB gun to torture his girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter was found hanged in his jail cell, police say.

Andrew Bennett Ross Celauis, 37, attempted to commit suicide in his jail cell on May one and ultimately died at a hospital from his attempt on May 7, according to the Associated Press.

Celauis was arrested on April nine and charged with abusing the girl after her mother brought her to the hospital to be treated for ringworm marks that later turned out to be burn marks.

After a police investigation, officials accused Celauis of abusing the child unbeknown to the mother. The investigation found that Celauis shot BBs at the girl, put a shock collar on her and electrocuted her repeatedly, and even jumped on her bed wearing a werewolf mask and waking her from sleep to frighten her. Police also said that he made the girl wear the shock collar to bed and waited until she was asleep to begin shocking her.

Despite the suspect’s suicide, police are continuing the investigation into the abuse. "We’re looking for any additional victims, and anyone who might have had knowledge of the crimes being committed and failed to report them," Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said.

Morgan also warned that if someone knew about Celauis’ abuse of the girl, they, too, can be prosecuted for the abuse. "We’ll continue with this case, and if we find out there are those who failed to report the abuse of children, they may be facing charges, too," he said.

15-year-old girl allegedly raped, impregnated by stepfather in Gaibandha
[Dhaka Tribune] A 15-year-old girl has allegedly been raped and impregnated by her stepfather in Sadullapur, Gaibandha.

The incident came to light as the girl came to Sadullapur cop shoppe with her stepfather, Idris Ali, 48, to file a rape case against Masud Mia, 18, with whom the girl had reportedly had a physical relationship.

According to police, Idris Ali alias Chengtu, Member Union Gay Pareehad (UP) of Bhatgram Union, married the girl's mother in 2018. After repeatedly raping the girl, she fell pregnant three months ago. Idris made her abort the child and later impregnated her again. To cover up his actions, Idris planned a case against Masud, the reported lover of the girl who was also engaged in raping the girl.

Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Officer-in-Charge of Sadullapur cop shoppe, Mostafizur Rahman said: "As the victim came to file the case with her stepfather Idris, their confession seemed suspicious. When we questioned the victim we got some crucial details that led to the discovery that not only Masud, but Idris was also engaged in this rape case."

"Later the girl filed separate cases against both of them."

Africa Subsaharan
Anti-Boko Haram Militia Frees 900 Children in Nigeria, Says UN
[AnNahar] Nearly 900 children held by a pro-government militia force fighting Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Death Eaters in northeastern Nigeria were freed on Friday, the UN said.

The 894 children, including 106 girls, had been in the ranks of the government-backed Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), a local militia which supports regular soldiers battling the Islamist holy warriors.

At a ceremony in the northeastern town of Maiduguri, they were released as part of the CJTF's "commitment to end and prevent the recruitment and use of children," the UN children's agency (UNICEF) said.

"Children of north-east Nigeria have borne the brunt of this conflict," said UNICEF chief in Nigeria Mohammed Fall.

"They have been used by gangs in combatant and non-combatant roles and witnessed death, killing and violence."

The CJTF is a militia formed in 2013 to protect communities from attack, but it has also recruited hundreds of children.

In 2017, the militia signed a promise to stop recruiting child soldiers and release the ones they hold.

The children freed on Friday bring the total released since then to 1,727 children, UNICEF said.

It was not clear how many children remain in its ranks, but the UN welcomed the news on Friday.

"Any commitment for children that is matched with action is a step in the right direction for the protection of children's rights, and must be recognised and encouraged," Fall said.

The freed children will be enrolled into a reintegration programme with education and training to help them return to civilian life.

Boko Haram's decade-long uprising to establish a hardline Islamic state in Nigeria's northeast has spilled into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
The jihadis have also recruited thousands of children to fight in their ranks.

"We will continue until there is no child left in the ranks of all gangs in Nigeria," Fall said, noting that children "have been kidnapped, maimed, raped and killed."

Thousands from Moslem-majority Kazakhstan, other Central Asian nations and Russia's Caucasus have travelled to Syria to fight with jihadists since war broke out there in 2011.

The operation to repatriate 156 children and 75 adults took place between May 7 and May 9, Kazakhstan's presidency said in a statement, without providing details.

The evacuation follows a similar operation in January that saw 43 Kazakhs returned to the country, some of whom were subsequently tossed in the slammer
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
for extremism-related crimes.

But in the statement on Friday, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev characterised the earlier operation as a success.

"Women abandoned their radical past, got a job, restored ties with relatives. The children went to schools and kindergartens," he said.

"The influence of destructive false propaganda of terrorists" had persuaded Kazakhs to travel to Syria, he said.

Kazakhstan has hosted a series of talks on Syria brokered by Iran, Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

since the beginning of 2017.

The talks have featured negotiators from the Syrian regime and armed rebel factions but not bully boy groups such as IS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
Motaj Abdul Majid Kafiluddin Bepari on Sunday; he is now on a four-day remand.

Confirming the matter yesterday, CTTC Deputy Commissioner Mohibul Islam Khan said interrogation is underway to know his motive.

According to the first information report (FIR) of the case recorded under Anti-Terrorism Act with Uttara (West) cop shoppe, Motaj and five or six unnamed people were accused for "planning sabotage with different murderous Moslem organizations to establish Khalifah (caliphate) by displacing the government."

Police also seized a passport, a Saudi Arabian ID card, Saudi driving licence, an iPhone, and Bangla translations of several essays on Khilafah in Bangladesh was from Motaj’s possession.

MOTAJ AND HIS IS CONNECTION

Born in Saudi Arabia to a Bangladeshi father and a Pak mother, Motaj took a Bangladeshi passport in 2014 from the Bangladesh embassy in Saudi Arabia and then went to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
in 2016 using it, the FIR stated.

The report also mentioned he was influenced by the IS ideology and was trying to get in touch with them, after which he attempted to enter into Syria several times, but failed.

Later in 2017, he tried to enter Syria via Egypt and Turkey from Saudi Arabia, but failed again.

Finally in 2018, Motaj succeeded, but it was too late, as the IS regime had been ousted from Syria by then.

After this, he fled to Turkey where his plan was to flee to any European country via Greece. But as Ottoman Turkish police began a drive against terrorists, Motaj decided to return to Bangladesh and arrived in Dhaka.

According to the case files, police was aware of his entry and was tracking his movements to arrest him.

Citing findings from the primary inquiry, the FIR says Motaj believed in the ideology of banned murderous Moslem outfit New JMB.

WHAT WILL BE THE FATE OF IS RETURNEES?

No police official is ready to publicly comment on Motaj’s matter.

However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
CTTC chief and Additional Commissioner Monirul Islam recently said Bangladeshis returning home after joining IS would face legal action.

He also said a section of youths have been going to join IS since late 2014. They suspect some aspiring snuffies were arrested and some were killed. But he acknowledged the lack of statistics regarding the matter.

"If they want to return home now, they have no alternative but to come by air. They need passports. But people who left the country in 2014 no longer have valid passports. If anybody wants to return, they will have to apply for a travel pass," Monirul explained.

Erdogan vows to clear ‘Kurdish terror-infested regions’ in northern Syria
What, again?
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
told the audience at an iftar dinner on Friday that nation’s armed forces will be clearing the remaining "terrorist groups" from Syria.

"Tens of thousands of guns, vehicles and equipment are provided free-of-cost to terror groups in northern Syria who we are fighting," Erdogan said, taking a jab at the U.S.’ support of the Kurdish-led forces in Syria.

"We will soon clear terror-infested regions of Syria and give 4 million Syrians the chance to return home," he added.

Erdogan has repeatedly vowed to eliminate these ’terror’ groups east of the Euphrates; however, due to the prescience of U.S.-led Coalition forces in these areas, the Ottoman Turkish leader has been unable to commit his forces to such an operation.

At the same time, Erdogan is also busy with the election fiasco in Istanbul, for which he cancelled the results because they were not favorable to his political party.

Erdogan’s decision to cancel the election results in Istanbul may create turmoil within his own country, which will greatly influence whether or not he can commit his military to such an operation.

Jihadist counter-offensive in northwestern Hama ends in failure
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels, led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
(HTS), attempted to retake several areas from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) that they lost in the northwestern countryside of Hama in the last four days.

HTS and their allies began their attack this morning by attempting to overwhelm the Syrian Arab Army troops near the key town of Kafr Naboudeh.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
despite the intensity of the attack, the jihadist rebels were unable to crack the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses, resulting in the subsequent withdrawal of HTS from this axis.

According to a military source near the front-lines, the jihadist rebels did not capture any areas and they suffered heavy casualties during their attack on Friday.

The source added that the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are now preparing to storm the key hilltop of Tal Sakher.

The Syrian Army has yet to fully secure the Kafr Naboudeh area because they still do not have control over Tal Sakher.

Bangladesh
Nusrat murder: Sonagazi ex-OC on temporary suspension
[Dhaka Tribune] Former Sonagazi cop shoppe OC Moazzem Hossain has been temporarily suspended and attached to the Rangpur Range.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sohel Rana, of the media and public relations branch of the Police Headquarters, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Friday.

Moazzem had been previously withdrawn from Sonagazi cop shoppe and transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on April 10. His subsequent suspension came following a report filed by a probe committee formed by the Police Headquarters on April 13, to investigate madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi's death.

Nusrat, an Alim examinee and a student of Songazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa, died on April 10, from injuries she received after supporters of the madrasa's principal, Md Sirjaddaula, set her on fire at the madrasa premises on April 6.

Nusrat had previously lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Sirajaddaula on March 27, with the Sonagazi cop shoppe, after which he was locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
and placed in durance vile
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
. She was set on fire after Sirajaddaula's associates failed to intimidate her into withdrawing the complaint.

Moazzam, the then OC of Sonagazi cop shoppe, instead of heeding Nusrat's pleas for help, recorded the whole incident, and spread it via social media. A case was filed against him under the Digital Security Act.

According to the probe committee's report‐submitted on April 30‐the OC had conspired with Sonagazi upazila Awami League President, Ruhul Amin, to fabricate Nusrat's attack as a suicide attempt.

Libya's HoR condemns airstrikes on Tripoli
[Libya Observer] The members of the House of Representatives (HoR) condemned on Thursday the Arclight airstrikes on security and services locations in Janzour, western Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, in addition to the airstrikes on Dawa al-Islamiya Commission HQs and the targeting of an ambulance in Wadi Rabea.

The HoR denounced, in a statement, the silence of the international community - especially the UN - toward the crimes and violations committed by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. They also added that they are following closely the deterioration of human rights

Haftar's forces shelled also Wadi Rabea hitting an ambulance driven by the Head of Emergency and Ambulance Apparatus Nasser Daw, who was trying to evacuate trapped families. Daw's legs were amputated due to the injury.

Haftar's forces have targeted residential areas, detention centers of migrants colonists and ambulances as well as government institutions and electricity stations in many frontlines in southern Tripoli and in Tajoura in eastern Tripoli.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
New Evidence Shows WITH CERTAINTY the FBI Lied to Court to Obtain FISA Warrant to Spy on Trump
Key bits, because we’ve already had the notes of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec on Oct. 11, 2016.
[GatewayPundit] The key point as we all know is that the FBI has to hide the fact that they knew the dossier was fake and unverified because they used it in the FISA warrant application to spy on Trump.

They also knew Steele was providing the dossier information to the press before they fired Steele, but they can’t let anyone know they knew this because they already stated that they did not know this.

In the Grassley letter to Rosenstein at the DOJ and Wray at the FBI dated January 4, 2018, the Senator says that in an interview Comey said in March 2017 that Steele was reliable –
Image at link.
Note that the FBI does not say “Isikoff” or “Yahoo News”, it says “the press”. Is this what was provided to the FISA Court for the Carter Page application?

Also, now looking back at the FISA application, the second paragraph states that the information for the warrant came from the State Department –
This image also at the link.
If the information from the State Department noted above was from Kavalec, this would mean that the FBI knew without a doubt that Steele was speaking to the press BEFORE obtaining the Carter Page FISA warrants, but they lied to the FISA court, saying Steele didn’t speak to the press, and then they fired Steele afterwards, claiming it was because Steele spoke to the press.

Did This Texas Democrat Just Admit The Real Reason Why The Left Wants Trump Impeached?
[Townhall] Even for Democrats who want to impeach and remove President Trump, they know the waters of this are murky, choppy, and loaded with peril. You cannot go off half-cocked. One minor misstep can lead to political blowback that could all but assure a second term for Donald Trump‐and with this current crop of Democrat, there are a lot of loudmouths who could mess things up. I’m not complaining about that. I hope Democrats continue to reach full froth on impeachment and Russian collusion because they’re looking totally insane. And if Nancy Pelosi wants to keep her caucus from going totally off the reservation, she better speak to Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who said that the Democrats just have to impeach Trump...because he will get a second term. Green sad this during an MSNBC interview on May 4 (via Free Beacon):
Green, who has called for Trump's removal from office since 2017 and introduced articles of impeachment that year, told MSNBC that he dismissed the idea that impeaching Trump could help him politically.

"I'm concerned if we don't impeach this president, he will get re-elected. If we don't impeach him, he will say he's been vindicated," Green said. "He will say the Democrats had an overwhelming majority in the House and they didn't take up impeachment. He will say that we had a constitutional duty to do it if it was there, and we didn't. He will say he's been vindicated."

Armed religious activists force closure of five heatstroke centres in Sukkur
[DAWN] SUKKUR: Armed men, believed to be activists of some radical religious group, on Thursday stormed a heatstroke centre in the city and resorted to firing into the air, forcing its operators to take to their heels toes.

The water outlet, set up at Ayub Gate, is one of the many centres set up by the Sukkur Municipal Corporation (SMC) to provide immediate relief to victims of heatstroke as the maximum temperatures in certain upper Sindh areas in recent days remained between 40 and 47 degrees Celsius. Such centres normally function at peak hours ie from 10am to 5pm.

Some radical religious activists, taking it as a violation of the Ehteram-e-Ramazan Ordinance, objected to the operation of such centres during the fasting hours. They told operators of several centres to shut them "or face the consequences", according to Mr Taufiq Bandhani, SMC’s contractor of the centres.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
the operators under threat appeared not convinced by their argument that people not suffering from heatstroke were largely being served water.

After repeatedly issuing such threats and getting annoyed by the operators’ defiance, a group of armed forces of Evil stormed the Ayub Goth centre and forced its operators to shut it down. They had gun sex making the operators flee.

Mr Atta-ur-Rehman, the officer in charge of the Municipal Water Works, said the attackers belonged to a religious outfit. He said the municipal authorities had now advised the contractor to close down five such centres in the city for the time being. He said they would be reopened after necessary consultations with the authorities concerned.

"In general, this round was positive and constructive. Both sides listened to each other with care and patience," Shaheen wrote on Twitter.

The US embassy in Kabul did not immediately comment, nor did US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, the Afghan-born former US ambassador to Afghanistan who is leading negotiations for the Americans.

Security forces arrest 4 from Lahore in connection with Data Darbar bombing
[DAWN] Security forces in Lahore picked up four suspects during a late night raid on Thursday in Lahore's Garhi Shahu area soon after agencies investigating the Data Darbar bombing traced the alleged jacket wallah to the locality.

Twelve individuals bit the dust in what officials had described as a suicide kaboom targeting an Elite Force van detailed to the security of the Data Darbar shrine on Wednesday.

Agencies investigating the bombing said they had identified the cycle of violence rickshaw used to transport the suspected bomber to the shrine.

The suspect took the rickshaw from near the railway station. Video footage obtained by the agencies reportedly shows that the rickshaw driver approached the bomber as the latter approached from Garhi Shahu.

Meanwhile,

law enforcement agencies said they had shifted their focus to three major terrorist networks of the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

to uncover handlers/controllers of the attack.

Talking about the ongoing investigation into the suicide kaboom, a police brass hat told Dawn that two high-profile teams had been assigned the task to go after three offshoots of the TTP and their controllers.

He said the major focus was on Hizbul Ahrar, which had grabbed credit for sending the teenage suicide bomber to Data Darbar on Wednesday.

He said the law enforcement agencies were using available resources to track down handlers who dropped the boy (suicide bomber) at the shrine.

The official further said that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab had examined the records of three terror groups, including the Ghazi Force and Jamaatul Ahrar
...A Pak Taliban splinter group that split off from the Mullah Fazlullah faction because it wasn't violent enough...
He said Hizbul Ahrar, which grabbed credit for the attack, was a splinter group of Jamaatul Ahrar headed by Muqarram Shah from Afghanistan.

Hizbul Ahrar had separated from Jamaatul Ahrar due to some internal rifts. It started operating separately to target primarily the law enforcement agencies in various parts of Pakistain.

In addition to that, the CTD, which is leading the entire investigation process, is also following other leads, like the possibility of the involvement of ISIS as well, he said.

The official further said the probe was being conducted along the lines of the 2017 Mall Road blast investigation, in which LEAs had successfully locked away

, saying ceasefire calls should be coupled with calls for the withdrawal of attacking forces to their previous positions.

"The political process has changed after April 04. The eastern region must now choose new representatives for the dialogue and the political process because Haftar and Aqila Saleh are not our dialogue partners anymore." al-Sarraj added.

He also said that reports about La Belle France's support for the attacking forces had created resentment to La Belle France in the Libyan public opinion which was clear in recent demonstrations, adding that it is paramount that La Belle France condemns the attack in ways that leave no doubt for the whole world.

Macron reiterated support for the Presidential Council's government and rejected the attack on Tripoli.

Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.

Macron's office reported after the meeting that La Belle France calls for an unconditional ceasefire with its line supervised by the international community, with the French President saying there can be no military solution in Libya and that the current Tripoli offensive should be halted.

Politicians in western Libya are all opposed to a ceasefire that comes in effect before the pullout of Haftar's forces and their retreat eastward.

ICC Prosecutor: Individuals responsible for war crimes in Libya will be brought to justice
[Libya Observer] The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has urged in her briefing at the Security Council all member states of the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
to ensure a consistent and unambiguous message is conveyed to all warring factions in Libya that the rules of international humanitarian law must be fully respected, and that perpetrators of atrocity crimes will be held individually criminally responsible.

Bensouda also reminded the council that outstanding warrants issued for the arrest of Saif al-Islam Qadaffy, Mahmoud Mustafa Busayf al-Werfalli, and al-Tuhamy Mohammed Khaled, are executed, with them transferring to the ICC for trial, was "the first and indispensible step".

Bensouda explained that if the three wanted criminals were surrendered to the ICC, it would send a strong and necessary message to the victims of grave crimes in Libya, that the Security Council and the international community on the lam are serious about pursing justice and committed to taking concrete action towards that end.

She indicated that Mahmoud al-Werfalli is still in Libya and is freely moving without any concrete evidence that he was prosecuted by the "Libyan National Army" under Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. 's command.

"The execution of arrest warrants remains one of the ICC’s greatest challenges, leaving them wholly reliant on the cooperation of states. The commitment of the council to urge states to act, was also key," she added.

Syrian Army ambush kills 15 jihadists in northwestern Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
launches a counter-offensive this morning to recover the sites they lost to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) this week.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
despite the intensity of the attack, the jihadist rebels were unable to recover any territory and were later forced to retreat back towards Tal Sakher in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army laid an ambush against the attacking jihadists, killing more than 15 of their fighters in the process.

The source added that many of the jihadists that launched the counter-attack were foreign combatants that are part of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s special forces.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham has championed the cause to retake the areas previously lost by the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) and their allies; however, they have failed to recover anything thus far.

Why Is Pressure Mounting BTWN The U.S. and Iran?
[Jerusalem Post] Iran announced this week that it is changing a key term of the Iran nuclear deal ‐ and plans to make an even more dramatic change in 60 days if partners don’t ease conditions.

The partners ‐ Europe chief among them ‐ complained, loudly. But so did an ex-partner: the United States.

The Trump administration immediately retaliated, expanding sanctions on Iran after Tehran said it would fiddle with a deal that the Trump administration thinks should be null and void.

"Hey, this is binary. You’re either in compliance or you’re not," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in Baghdad on Tuesday, a day before Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced the change, and at the same time that the Trump administration was celebrating the one-year anniversary of pulling out of the deal. (Reports of Rouhani’s planned announcement had already emerged.)

Pompeo’s statements sound a little confusing to observers who have followed the Trump administration’s stance on the deal. Trump has called the agreement the "worst" deal ever.

So what’s going on?

The answer is that the Trump administration sees Iran’s behavior as another instance of why it pulled the U.S. out of the deal in the first place: the Iranian regime is not trustworthy.

USS Arlington joining USS TR, Patriot missiles to be deployed
[Yahoo] The Pentagon announced Friday that it is deploying an amphibious assault ship and a Patriot missile battery to the Middle East to bolster an aircraft carrier force sent to counter alleged threats from Iran.

The USS Arlington, which transports marines, amphibious vehicles, conventional landing craft and rotary aircraft, and the Patriot air defense system will join the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a B-52 bomber task force headed toward the Gulf after intelligence reports suggested Iran was planning some sort of attack in the region.

US approves deployment of Patriot Missiles to Middle East amid Iranian threat

[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] The U.S. Defense Department has approved the deployment of their Patriot Missile System to the Middle East as they deal with the "Iranian threat" national security adviser John Bolton warned of earlier this week.

Citing Deputy Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan, Sky News reported that the U.S. is indeed deploying this missile system in response to the alleged threats posed by the Iranian Armed Forces in the Persian Gulf.

Earlier this week, Bolton and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed that Iran was preparing to strike the U.S. forces in the Middle East region.

The U.S. then sent their aircraft carrier strike group, led by the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, to the Persian Gulf after a brief deployment in the Mediterranean Sea.

Iran has denied any such plans, but Washington is adamant that Tehran was preparing to strike their forces in the region.

Turkish soldier killed near border with Iran: state media
[Rudaw] One Ottoman Turkish soldier was killed and another injured by an improvised bomb near the eastern border with Iran in an attack blamed on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Ottoman Turkish media reported. This spring has seen a spate of deadly festivities between Ottoman Turkish security forces and the armed Kurdish group.

The attack occurred early in the morning on May 10 near Dilucu, Igdir province, state-run Anadolu Agency reported citing security sources. Ottoman Turkish forces are conducting a counter-terror operation in the area.

In 2015, a bombing in the same Dilucu area killed 14 Ottoman Turkish coppers who were guarding customs officials commuting to the border with Azerbaijan. The PKK was blamed.

The PKK has not immediately made any claim of responsibility for the today’s attack.

Clashes between the PKK and Ottoman Turkish forces this spring have been intense, with multiple casualties reported on both sides of the conflict in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
and in the Kurdistan Region. Last weekend, Ottoman Turkish helicopter gunships pursued PKK guerrillas across the Turkey-Kurdistan Region border, terrifying local villagers. Both sides claimed to have inflicted casualties on the other in multiple festivities in late April and four Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed in a skirmish on the border earlier in the month. Two soldiers had been killed inside the Kurdistan Region territory in March.

For the last four decades that the PKK has carried out its struggle against the Ottoman Turkish state, the mountains between Iraq, Iran, and Turkey have served as a safe haven for the guerrillas. Local residents have been driven out of the homes by the conflict and the fighting sees no sign of abating as the melting of the snow ushers in a new wave of attacks by both parties to the conflict.

At least 4,356 people have been killed since a grinding of the peace processor fell apart and the four-decade-long conflict was reignited in July 2015, according to figures compiled by the International Crisis Group. The casualties include 2,515 PKK fighters, 1,154 members of state security forces, and 464 civilians.

India-Pakistan
LHC orders recovery of 20-year-old allegedly kindapped for 'vani'
[DAWN] The Lahore High Court on Friday ordered the SHO of Kunjah, Gujarat to recover and present a 20-year-old woman who was allegedly kidnapped for vani (the exchange of women as consideration for compounding disputes/offences) while hearing a petition registered for her recovery.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition, which was registered by a close relative of the woman through Advocate Imran Ghuman on May 8.

According to the lawyer, the abducted woman's father had fled to Britain due to a personal dispute in Darra Adam Khel while the girl was living with her mother in Lahore.

He said that the 20-year-old victim was kidnapped two days prior to the petition being filed by five people from Darra Adam Khel.

The abduction seems to be connected to an incident in 2016, when, on gunpoint, a jirga had made the petitioner assure the vani of two girls.

While asking the court to recover the abducted woman and not permit her vani to take place, the petition stated that if she was not recovered, the people in Darra Adam Khel would take her to Khyber Pakthunkhwa and she would be forcibly married off.
Wikipedia:
Vani (Urdu: ونی‎), or Swara (سوارہ), is a cultural custom found in parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan whereby a young girl is married as punishment for some crime committed by her male relatives.[1] Vani is a form of arranged child marriage,[2] and the result of punishment decided by a council of tribal elders named jirga.[3][4] It is tied to blood feuds among the different tribes and clans and is most common among Pashtuns. Vani is sometimes spelled as Wani or Wanni. It is a Pashto word derived from vanay which means blood. It is also known as Sak and Sangchatti (سنگ چتی) in different regional languages of India.[5][6][7] Some claim Vani can be avoided if the clan of the girl agrees to pay money, called Deet (دیت).

The custom became illegal in Pakistan between 2005 and 2011,[8] however, it still continues.[9] Recently[when?] the courts in Pakistan have begun taking serious note and action against the continuation of the practice.[10]

Sri Lanka slaps controls on mosques after Easter attacks, DNA test to check dead dude is ringleader
[DAWN] The Sri Lankan government on Friday ordered mosques to clamp down on forces of Evil and to submit copies of sermons in new fallout from the Easter suicide kabooms that left 258 dead.

The country has been on edge since the April 21 attacks by jihadist bombers who attacked three churches and three Colombo hotels which also left 500 people injured.

The Ministry of Moslem Religious and Cultural Affairs said mosques must not be used for radicalising congregations.

"In view of the prevailing situation in the country, the ministry directs all trustees of mosques not to engage in or permit any gathering to promote or propagate hatred or extremism in any form," the ministry said.

It said all mosques must submit copies of sermons given within their premises.

group have been blamed for the April 21 bombings against three Christian churches and three luxury hotels.

Since the attacks, the government has carried out raids across the country and killed several suspected radicals. At least 56 suspects are in jug, according to police, while authorities have also expelled 200 foreign holy mans who had overstayed their visas.

Sri Lanka orders DNA test to confirm Easter attack ringleader is dead

[Jpost] A Sri Lankan court on Friday authorized a DNA test to confirm that the presumed ringleader of coordinated Islamist attacks that killed over 250 people on Easter Sunday in churches and hotels did indeed blow himself up at Colombo's Shangri-La hotel.

The government, which has come under fire for missing multiple warnings that an attack was imminent, believes the ringleader was Zahran Hashim, a fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
34-year-old preacher from eastern Sri Lanka.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
half a dozen locals in his hometown of Kattankudy and others who knew him have told Rooters that video surveillance footage taken in a lift before the April 21 attack, showing a man who Sherlocks believe is the bomber, appears to depict a far slimmer man than Hashim, with a different gait.

The clip is short, though, and the man's face is partially hidden by a cap. Hashim had disappeared from public view several months before the attacks.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake ordered state judiciary medical officials to check the bomber's remains against his daughter's DNA.

Dissanayake said he was responding to a request by the criminal investigation department.

A top intelligence official told Rooters that facial identification had confirmed that the dead jacket wallah was Zahran.

"But since there is a dispute, we are going for a DNA test," he said.

Sri Lankan authorities believe the bombings were carried out by two little-known domestic Islamist groups, the National Tawheed Jamaath (NTJ) and Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim (JMI). Islamic State has grabbed credit.

Investigators from eight countries, including the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and Interpol, are helping with the investigation.

Iranian cleric warns US fleet ‘can be destroyed with one missile’
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] Senior Iranian holy man Ayatollah Yusef Tabatabai-Nejad has dismissed the US carrier group’s deployment in the Middle East, suggesting that the fleet could be easily destroyed in the event of war.
Hold me, Ethel!
"Their billion-dollar fleet can be destroyed with one missile," Tabatabai-Nejad said, speaking in Isfahan on Friday, Rooters has reported, citing local media.

"If they attempt any move, they will [face] dozens of missiles because at that time government officials won’t be in charge to act cautiously, but instead things will be in the hands of our beloved leader," the holy man added, referring to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Earlier, US Department of Defence spokesperson Cmdr. Rebecca Rebarich told Sputnik that the USS Abraham Lincoln had arrived in the US Navy’s Middle Eastern area of operations on Thursday, with the deployment following the arrival of nuclear-capable B-52 bombers in the region a day earlier.

The deployment comes following back-to-back warnings by John Bolton and Secretary of State that the US would retaliate to any Iranian attack against the US or its allies with "unrelenting force." On Wednesday, US Central Command chief Gen. Frank McKenzie called Iran and its "malign ambitions" the biggest threat to his area of responsibility and the world, and said that while the US wasn’t looking to pick a fight with Tehran, it wouldn’t shy away from one either, boasting that "if a fight is to be had...it won’t be a fair fight."

Iran dismissed the carrier group’s deployment as an "unskillful" attempt at waging "psychological war against Iran."

Earlier, US officials told CNN that Iran was reportedly moving short-range ballistic missiles by sea in the Persian Gulf area ahead of the US carrier group’s arrival. Tehran has not commented on the reports.

Iran is known to have a large arsenalof domestically developed conventional short-, medium- and long-range missile systems, including long-range ballistic and cruise capabilities. The US, Europe, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Israel have called these weapons a threat to regional security, while Tehran has insisted that the missiles were a "non-negotiable"deterrent for its security.

[Breitbart] While speaking to reporters on Friday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) reacted to Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani’s announcement that he will travel to Ukraine to push the country’s government on investigations into the origins of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden’s son by saying we’ve reached "a very sorry state" when it’s acceptable for people to "seek foreign intervention in American politics."

US forces attack Syrian gov’t oil transport in Euphrates region
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] The U.S. military and their allies from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) opened fire on a Syrian government ferry that was attempting to transport oil in the Euphrates River Valley.

According to the pro-SDF Deir Ezzor Media Center page on Facebook, the U.S. Coalition forces fired shots at the Syrian government ferry as it was traveling down the Euphrates River.

The U.S. has been preventing Syria from transporting oil from neighboring countries like Iraq because of the Trump administration’s ongoing sanctions against the government in Damascus.

Syria is experiencing a nationwide fuel crisis as a result of these sanctions; it has forced the government to ration of fuel to civilians in order to maintain their current supply.

Some reports claim that fuel from Iran recently arrived on May 5th; however, nothing has been confirmed by the Syrian government.

'Tragic, terrible': Scores die as migrant boat sinks off Tunisia
[Aljazeera] A boat carrying scores of refugees and migrants has capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia, killing at least 65 people, according to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR).

UNHCR said in a statement on Friday that 16 survivors were pulled from the water after the vessel sank "in one of the worst incidents on the Mediterranean in months".

"This is a tragic and terrible reminder of the risks still faced by those who attempt to cross the Mediterranean," said Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR's special envoy for the Mediterranean.

Only four bodies have been recovered so far and search operations were ongoing, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a Twitter post.
Update from Al Ahram at noon EDT:
Around 60 migrants colonists most of them from Bangladesh have died after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea after it left Libya for Italia, the Tunisian Red Islamic Thingy said Saturday.
Survivors told the Red Islamic Thingy the tragedy unfolded after some 75 people who had left Zuwara on the northwestern Libyan coast late Thursday on a large boat were transferred to a smaller one that sank off Tunisia.

"The migrants colonists were transferred into a smaller inflatable boat which was overloaded, and 10 minutes later it sank," Mongi Slim, a Red Islamic Thingy official in the southern Tunisian town of Zarzis, told AFP.

The survivors said they spent eight hours trapped in the cold sea before they were spotted by the fishermen who alerted the Tunisian coastguard, Slim said.

Survivors said the boat was heading to Italia and had on board only men, 51 from Bangladesh, as well as three Egyptians, several Moroccans, Chadians and other Africans.

Fourteen Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor, were among the survivors, said the Red Islamic Thingy.

Charity ships have plied the Mediterranean Sea to rescue migrants colonists in large numbers but the number of rescue operations have dwindled as these vessels have come under fire, namely from the populist Italian government, over their action.

On Friday, however, more than 60 migrants colonists disembarked in Italia after two boats which had left Libya faced difficulties at sea and needed assistance.

According to the UNHCR, the journey across the Mediterranean "is becoming increasingly fatal for those who risk it".

"In the first four months of this year, one person has died (crossing the Mediterranean) for every three that have reached European shores, after departing from Libya," it said.

CIA used secret missile to kill terrorists ‘with no explosion’-- report
The view in the Iranian world, and perhaps beyond, of the flying ginsu story from yesterday. Enjoy, dear Reader, enjoy.
[ALMASDARNEWS] The US government has developed a secret missile to launch pinpoint Arclight airstrikes against murderous Moslems and their leaders "with no kaboom", the Wall Street Journal reports.

The newspaper cited unnamed US officials as saying that the use of the specially designed new missile with "extraordinarily accurate intelligence about a target’s location and surroundings" will help "drastically" reduce damage and minimise chances of civilian casualties.

"A modified version of the well-known Hellfire missile, [...] the R9X is designed to plunge more than 100 pounds of metal through the tops of cars and buildings to kill its target without harming individuals and property close by", the officials said.

The R9X aims to target murderous Moslems who adapt to US airstrikes by "hiding among groups of women and kiddies to put themselves out of reach".

The newspaper notes in this vein that that both the Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have already used this weapon, "carefully concealing its existence".

The missile was reportedly used at least twice: once over Syria in February 2017, and again in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in January.

"A Hellfire, which is a little more than five feet [1.5 m] long and weighs just over 100 pounds [45kg], typically leaves behind mangled, burned-out shells of vehicles, surrounded by debris and scorch marks over a large radius. The R9X leaves no such signature", the sources pointed out.

The number of civilian casualties in Afghanistan in 2018 is the highest in any six-month period since they began being counted systemically in 2009, according to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

The US military has repeatedly denied civilian casualties during its missions against Talibs in Afghanistan.

Its likely possible but I dunno. I've seen photos of cars where someone dropped a concrete block off an over-pass onto a car on the interstate. Lot of roof damage and a fatality. Is it possible this is disinformation? Yesterday's photos looked like self-driving Teslas gone amok.

Afghanistan
War In Afghanistan Can Be Sustained: McMaster
[ToloNews] The US former National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said Wednesday the war in Afghanistan can be sustained, but the narrative of a war-weary American public is hurting that effort.

Quoted in a report by Military Times, McMaster said long wars are manageable when waged alongside allies, utilizing burden sharing.

"There’s this defeatist narrative that’s inaccurate, and doesn’t reflect what’s at stake and doesn’t reflect the actual situation," McMaster said at a think tank forum in Washington, D.C.

The American public is not properly weighing costs when debating the military’s role in the Middle East, according to McMaster, who pointed to a recent town hall debate he watched.

"A young student stood up and said, ’all I’ve known my whole life is war,’" McMaster said, who now serves as chairman of the US Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

"Now, he’s never been to war, but he’s been subjected, I think, to this narrative of war-weariness," he said as quoted by the Military Times. "The United States today has a smaller percentage of its military deployed overseas than it has had since 1950," he added.

Americans should view the war in Afghanistan as essentially an "insurance policy" against what could happen in the country, McMaster said, adding that the collapse of the US-backed Afghan government would forfeit a region known as Khorasan to jihadi groups.

"They’re trying to establish these emirates," he said. "And then stitch these emirates together into a caliphate in which they force people to live under their brutal regime and then export terror to attack their near enemies, Arab states, Israel, and the far enemies, Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and the United States."

The United States has spent at least $100 billion on Afghanistan war which still continues with almost 20 designated terrorist groups operating in the country.

A recent report by the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan showed a record number of civilian casualties in the country and said most of the casualties were caused by pro-government forces.

"If you think about the importance of the mission in Afghanistan, to protect what is fundamentally a transformed society, from the enemies that we’re facing ‐ the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and their al-Qaeda allies ‐ it is a cost that is sustainable," McMaster said.

McMaster also said that the term "nation-building" has created an unrealistic expectation of what the US can do to shape another country, especially one like Afghanistan, according to the Military Times report. But progress has been made there, he added, pointing to the arena of women’s rights and democratic voting.

"Afghanistan is not going to become Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
. It’s just not," he said. "It can be Afghanistan, and it can be an Afghanistan like it was in the ’70s or like it was during this really short but brutal period of rule under the Taliban from 1996 to 2001," he said as quoted by Military Times.

Abrams Warns of Russian Takeover in 2030 If Voter Suppression Not Addressed
[Free Beacon] Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams warned Friday that if voter suppression wasn't addressed properly in 2020, "we will be having a very different conversation, potentially in Russian, in 2030."

Abrams has repeatedly blamed voter-suppression for her narrow loss to Republican Brian Kemp in last year's Georgia governor's race, although voter registrations and turnout rose during Kemp's tenure and fact-checks undercut her claim that the election was not "fair." Since her defeat, her star has risen in the Democratic Party and she has focused on voting reform efforts in Georgia. She is also mulling a 2020 bid for the presidency or another shot at the Georgia governorship in 2022.

At a national security forum, Abrams reeled off a list of recent laws she said were being pushed to disenfranchise people, particularly those of color, across the United States, and encouraged the audience to educate itself on the issue.

"There's no more fundamental and national-security crisis than the theft of our elections, not simply through Russian hacking, which is incredibly important and we have to pay attention to it, but by the suppression of the very voters whose voices could change the direction of our country," she said.

Suppression of the vote is "pervasive" and "insidious," she said, because it convinces people it's a "user error."

"If we do not secure our democracy and ensure that every vote counts in 2020, we will be having a very different conversation, possibly in Russian, in 2030," she said, to cheers and applause.

"My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,"

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Q&A: Syria’s Assad sets sights on Idlib, the final showdown?
[Rudaw] After eight months of relative calm, Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib is once again a theater for bloody military operations: heavy bombardment, Arclight airstrikes and waves of civilian displacement as Syrian government troops, backed by Russia, push their way into the rebel-held enclave in a widening offensive.

The violence of the past week threatens to completely unravel a crumbling cease-fire agreement reached between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
and Russia at the Black Sea resort of Sochi in September last year, which averted a potentially devastating assault by the Syrian government to retake the province.
