Cops in LA being Treated for Typhoid Fever
[LA Times] At least one Los Angeles Police Department employee at the agency’s downtown L.A. station has contracted the bacteria that causes typhoid fever and is being treated for the condition, the department confirmed Wednesday evening.

Typhoid fever is a life-threatening illness with symptoms that include stomach pain, diarrhea and loss of appetite. It is not commonly found in the United States but rather typically occurs in parts of the world where water is more likely to be contaminated with sewage, according to the CDC.

People with typhoid fever or who are carriers of Salmonella Typhi bacteria can spread the bacteria to other people.

Mexico president tells POTUS: 'America First is a fallacy' in response to tariff threat
[USA Today] WASHINGTON ‐ The president of Mexico says he wants to avoid a confrontation with the United States, but had harsh words about President Donald Trump's plan to impose tariffs on Mexican goods to pressure the nation to stem the flow of Central American migrants.

"America First is a fallacy," President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, often referred to as AMLO, said in a public letter released late Thursday.

López Obrador also announced he was sending his foreign minister to Washington, D.C., on Friday to negotiate with U.S. officials ahead of a June 10 deadline set by Trump.

In a Thursday tweet, Trump said that on June 10 the United States "will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP."

In the tweet and in a separate written statement, Trump claimed that the tariff will escalate by 5 percentage points each month until "the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied," at which time it will be removed. Trump said the tariff could reach 25% by Oct. 1.

As for Trump's statements, AMLO said: "With all due respect, although you have the right to express it, 'America First' is a fallacy because until the end of times, even beyond national borders, justice and universal fraternity will prevail."

China-Japan-Koreas
30 Years After Tiananmen, a Chinese Military Insider Warns: Never Forget
For three decades, Jiang Lin kept quiet about the carnage she had seen on the night when the Chinese Army rolled through Beijing to crush student protests in Tiananmen Square. But the memories tormented her ‐ of soldiers firing into crowds in the dark, bodies slumped in pools of blood and the thud of clubs when troops bludgeoned her to the ground near the square.

Ms. Jiang was a lieutenant in the People's Liberation Army back then, with a firsthand view of both the massacre and a failed attempt by senior commanders to dissuade China's leaders from using military force to crush the pro-democracy protests. Afterward, as the authorities sent protesters to prison and wiped out memories of the killing, she said nothing, but her conscience ate at her.

Now, in the run-up to the 30th anniversary of the June 4, 1989, crackdown, Ms. Jiang, 66, has decided for the first time to tell her story. She said she felt compelled to call for a public reckoning because generations of Chinese Communist Party leaders, including President Xi Jinping, have expressed no remorse for the violence. Ms. Jiang left China this week.

Disney CEO: 'To Avoid Filming Among Depraved, Immoral People, We Are Moving All Our Georgia Operations Back To Hollywood'
[Babylon Bee] BURBANK, CA‐Disney's CEO, Bob Iger, has come out swinging against Georgia's restrictive abortion laws. He says that he may need to move filming locations out of state to avoid immoral, perverted, depraved people like Georgians. Instead, he says all film projects planned for Georgia will be moved back to Hollywood.

"To avoid filming among depraved, immoral people, we are moving all our Georgia operations back to Hollywood," he said in a press conference, wagging his finger sternly. "The people of Georgia can't pass immoral, unjust laws like this and expect us righteous elites in Hollywood to stand by and let it happen. Morality is very important to us in the film industry. That's why we film a lot of our stuff here in Hollywood, where we can rest easy knowing that the money from our production is going to support moral, upright people."

"It's the right thing to do," he added.

Iger also pointed out that California's lax abortion laws come in handy in Hollywood quite often.

Palestinian caught smuggling two pipe bombs into West Bank military court
For some idiots in that part of the world, this kind of thing seems to be a right (sorry) rite of passage. And so they regularly try — and fail in exactly the same way.
[IsraelTimes] Explosive devices fall out from under suspect’s shirt after he is challenged by border police on guard outside complex.

A Paleostinian man tried to to smuggle two pipe bombs into a West Bank military court Thursday by hiding them under his shirt, police said in a statement, adding that alert officers had foiled the attempted attack.

The entrance to the Samaria Military Court in the village of Salem was briefly blocked and the area cordoned off while police sappers inspected the improvised bombs.

Officers on guard at the court "noticed a number of things which raised their suspicions" the statement said. One of the officers cocked his gun and, aiming it at the suspect, instructed him to raise his shirt. When he did so, two pipe bombs fell to the ground.

Officer immediately closed down the entrance and moved the public away from the area while sappers worked to neutralize the pipe bombs. A search of the suspect also uncovered a number of pistol bullets, police said.

There were no injuries in the incident and the suspect, 18, from a Paleostinian refugee camp in Jenin, was taken away for questioning.

Pipe bombs are frequently used by Paleostinian assailants in attempted attacks at the Samaria Military Court.

Islamic Jihad releases footage claiming to be drone attack on IDF tank
Video with very dramatic Western-style music can be seen at the link.
[IsraelTimes] Video shows makeshift incendiary bombs being dropped on armored vehicle operating on Gazoo-Israel border during a recent escalation in fighting.

The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
terrorist group released footage on Thursday purporting to show a drone controlled by its operatives dropping makeshift incendiary bombs on an Israel Defense Forces tank stationed on the border with Israel.

The footage, which the group released via its social media channels, is filmed from a camera mounted to the drone as well as a long-range lens on the ground in Gazoo filming the tank.

As small kabooms can be seen on and next to the tank, an Arabic caption appears declaring: "Your defenses are nothing to us."

The tank appears unscathed by the relatively small blasts.

The army declined to comment on the video.

The incident apparently occurred during the last flare-up in fighting between Israel and the Gazoo terror groups.

Last month, Israel announced that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle 172 mailed packages containing military equipment into the Gazoo Strip via the Erez Crossing from Israel. The equipment reportedly included drones, digital microscopes, weapons sights, flashlights and holsters for weapons, field phones, hidden cameras, communications equipment, diving lights and military boots.

Also last month, a Paleostinian Islamic Jihad cell attempted to down an Israeli military helicopter.

Just before the Islamic Jihad operatives could launch a shoulder-mounted missile at the chopper, which was operating near Gazoo City in the northern Strip, they were spotted by an Israeli jet and destroyed from the air, according to a report in the Jerusalem-based Paleostinian newspaper al-Quds, citing unnamed officials from Gazoo-based terror groups as its sources.

The Iran-backed Islamic Jihad later confirmed that it attempted to carry out the attack, identifying one of the operatives who was killed as he aimed the missile at the helicopter as Bilal al-Bina, a senior officer in the group’s air defense unit.

That reported incident took place during a two-day escalation in Gazoo that saw terror groups in the Strip fire nearly 700 rockets and missiles, mostly aiming for Israeli population centers. Four Israelis were killed in the barrages.

In response, the IDF carried out some 350 Arclight airstrikes on Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, and Islamic Jihad targets in the Paleostinian territory. Twenty-five Paleostinians were reported killed, many of them acknowledged members of terror groups.

Hamas leader thanks Iran for long-range rockets, threatens Tel Aviv, fire balloons continue
[IsraelTimes] Yahya Sinwar says that without capabilities provided by Tehran, his terror group would not have been able to hit Beersheba as it did in last round of fighting.

Separately, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services reported that an incendiary balloon launched from Gazoo sparked a fire in an open field near the border with the coastal enclave.

This was the 45th such fire in May, which has seen ceasefire of rockets since May 6, but a near daily onslaught of incendiary objects flown from the Strip toward Israel, burning dozens of acres of land.

Israel announced Saturday night that, as of Sunday, the fishing zone off the coast of the Gazoo Strip will be expanded to 15 nautical miles (27.8 kilometers), four days after it was reduced to 10 nautical miles (18.5 kilometers) amid a rash of incendiary balloon attacks from the coastal Paleostinian territory.

Since last March, incendiary balloons have caused fires that destroyed thousands of acres of farmland and nature reserves in southern Israel, in particular in the areas bordering Gazoo.

Imam tied to Holy Land case to be at American Jewish Committee forum
Idiots.
[Jpost] Mohammed Magid is scheduled to be part of the "Rabbis Roundtable Breakfast" in a discussion titled "Building a Golden Age of Moslem-Jewish Relations: Overcoming Challenges and Seizing Opportunities."

An imam of an organization affiliated with an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror case is scheduled to be part of a roundtable discussion at the American Jewish Committee’s annual global forum in Washington, D.C., which will take place from June 2 to June 4.

Mohammed Magid, born in Sudan in 1965 and who arrived in the United States in 1987 after studying in Soddy Arabia
...a resume to inspire confidence in his broad mindedness...
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, is the current iman of the Virginia-based All Dulles Area Moslem Society Center (ADAMS), which is affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America, or ISNA, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror case that proved HLF’s connections to the terrorist group Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, and other radical Islamic entities.

ADAMS is a network of mosques and Islamic community centers in Washington area.

The United States designated HLF as a terrorist group in 2001 and became defunct. The case resulted in 108 guilty verdicts and several years later, five of its leaders were convicted and sentenced to decades in federal prison.
Know the connections:
Magid was ISNA’s East Zone representative, then as vice president, and finally as president. The U.S. government listed ISNA in the HLF case as among "individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the U.S. Moslem Brüderbund."

He was "the B.O. regime’s go-to guy for Moslem outreach and advised on international affairs and counterterrorism."
Of course he was.
He was "a regular visitor to the White House (even when the administration wants to conceal it)" and involved in other aspects of the administration, such as playing a crucial role in the Department of Homeland Security, according to PJ Media.

Magid is scheduled to be part of the "Rabbis Roundtable Breakfast" on Monday in a discussion titled "Building a Golden Age of Moslem-Jewish Relations: Overcoming Challenges and Seizing Opportunities."

The session is only open to rabbinic participants at the conference.

AJC spokesperson Kenneth Bandler appeared to dismiss the allegations against Magid, telling JNS, "We know Imam Majid. He is a member of the Moslem Jewish Advisory Council."
Seriously: idiots.

There’s a brief but highly amusing video at the link of the Israelis pumping cement into the tunnel. Enjoy, dear Reader, enjoy.
[IsraelTimes] Military fills underground passage with cement, ensuring it can’t be used, says it’s deprived Lebanese terror group of central aspect of attack plans.

The Israeli military on Thursday completed the destruction of a cross-border Hezbollah attack tunnel from Leb, which the army said was the largest and most technically advanced passage dug by the Iran-backed terror group, after it was located this past winter and studied over the past few months.

The tunnel, which began in the Lebanese border town of Ramyeh, was closed off with concrete and other sealants, "after an intelligence-operations investigation throughout the tunnel was performed in recent months," the army said in a statement.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, this was Hezbollah’s "flagship" tunnel ‐ longer, dug deeper, and with more advanced components than the other five cross-border attack tunnels that the military said it found in Operation Northern Shield, an effort to find and destroy these passages in December and January.

"This tunnel was the Hezbollah terror group’s flagship tunnel, in which Hezbollah invested a lot of resources and efforts, in which infrastructure was installed to allow bully boyz to remain inside it for an extended period and an efficient excavation capability, as well as mobility for the terrorist operatives," the army said.

IDF reveals what it says is the longest cross-border attack tunnel dug by Hezbollah from Leb into Israel, May 29, 2019. (Israel Defense Forces)
The IDF believes that this tunnel, along with the five others found this winter, was built with the specific purpose of allowing thousands of Hezbollah bully boyz to stage an infiltration attack on military and civilian targets in northern Israel as a surprise opening maneuver in a future war.

"With [Operation Northern Shield], the IDF took away the central aspect of this attack plan, which [Hezbollah] built over the course of several years and was in the stages of its excavation being completed," the military said.

The passage has been under constant surveillance and was boobytrapped following its discovery on January 13. A small portion of the tunnel inside Israeli territory will remain open to allow people to visit the site and look inside, an army official said.

Post-EmailGate Hillary Clinton to Speak at Cybersecurity Conference
[PJ] When I saw a Facebook post announcing that Hillary Clinton will be speaking at a cybersecurity conference, I burst out laughing. I had the immediate desire to share it with my closest friends, and you will, too. This news is worthy of The Onion or The Babylon Bee.

On Thursday, the cybersecurity company FireEye announced one of its keynote speakers will be none other than Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former secretary of State infamous for keeping classified information on her home-brew email server.

This is no small snafu. FireEye is a publicly-traded company founded in 2004. FireEye "has been called in to investigate high-profile attacks against Target, JP Morgan Chase, Sony Pictures, Anthem and others." According to Deloitte, FireEye is the fastest-growing cybersecurity firm.

In a shameless push to get butts in seats, this very prominent cybersecurity firm is hosting Hillary Clinton. When the company announced this on Facebook, at least 1,365 people reacted with a laugh.

It probably isn't surprising that Fire Eye is being sued by its investors. The company was hit by multiple class action lawsuits in 2014 after its secondary offering triggered a steep sell-off. The plaintiffs also allege that Fire Eye execs made misleading claims about the effectiveness of its threat prevention technologies.

In Jan this year, Fire Eye claimed that Iran was attacking US security and bank servers.

Jussie Smollett Paid Osundairo Bros For Pot, Ecstasy and Cocaine, Newly Released Chicago Police Files Show
[PJ] Newly released investigative files from the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax show that the Empire star used Venmo to pay his accomplices for pot, ecstasy, and cocaine. The documents, which were made public on Thursday, a week after a Cook County Circuit Court judge ordered their release, reveal in detail how the Osundairo brothers described the staged attack.

The documents also show that police found inconsistencies between what Smollett told them right after the alleged attack and what he later claimed during his interview on Good Morning America.

And in a brand new development, Chicago police described in one document that the Cook County State's Attorney's Office informed them on February 28, almost a month before the charges against Smollett were dropped, that they would be settle with Smollett, and have him pay $10 thousand in restitution to the city of Chicago, as well as do "community service." That is exactly how it played out.

Economy
Waive goodbye to ethanol
[Washington Examiner] Markets thrive on competition. Unfortunately, this doesn’t just apply to real economic markets. It also applies to markets for bad ideas and political pandering.

With approximately 200 Democrats now running for president (we lost count a few weeks ago), the bidding to bribe Iowa caucusgoers is becoming intense. This is unfortunate not just because it is unseemly but also because the offers are coming at the expense of the nation’s well-being and the environment’s health.

The worst pander so far comes from Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. When she is not privately belittling her staff in ALL CAPS 4 a.m. emails, Klobuchar is attempting to gain traction in Iowa by fattening the wallets of ethanol barons. Her specific plan is to stop granting waivers to small refiners that let gasoline producers out of a small part of the requirement that they mix their product with large volumes of ethanol, which is economically unnecessary and environmentally harmful.
"GET ME A SALAD COMB!!111!!!"
The blending requirement exists solely to subsidize an industry that would barely exist without it. Ideally, the government would grant universal waivers and let the market decide how much ethanol it wants in gasoline. But unfortunately, this is not how the real world works.

It would not be worth paying much heed to Klobuchar’s opening bid, except that it will be matched and exceeded by several other Democratic candidates who actually have a chance of winning their party’s nomination. Even worse, President Trump, a fan of ethanol since before his second-place Iowa finish in 2016, may feel a need to increase his own bid when the general election season rolls around.

Iowa’s critical role in selecting nominees, especially Democratic nominees, has made ethanol nearly bulletproof. Unless more politicians gain the kind of courage that Sen. Ted Cruz displayed when he promised to phase out ethanol subsidies during his presidential run in 2016, unnecessary ethanol mandates are here to stay.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran tried to drive up oil prices by attacking tankers: Pompeo
[Washington Examiner] Four oil tankers damaged earlier this month were targeted by Iran in an attempt to drive up international oil prices, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

"These were efforts by the Iranians to raise the price of crude oil throughout the world," Pompeo told reporters Thursday.

That assessment previews a two-pronged effort to take place over the next week, driven chiefly by the top U.S. envoy and White House national security adviser John Bolton. Pompeo is headed to Europe for a diplomatic swing through two of the Western European countries that remain a party to the nuclear agreement with Iran that President Trump decided to exit last year. And Bolton, a former ambassador to the United Nations, is preparing to brief the Security Council on evidence of Iran’s responsibility for the heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf.

"I don't think anybody who is familiar with the situation in the region, whether they have examined the evidence or not, has come to any conclusion other than that these attacks were carried out by Iran or their surrogates," Bolton told reporters in London earlier Thursday.

Trump’s team and Iranian officials have been rattling sabers for weeks, as Trump’s team revoked the waivers that exempted a handful of nations from U.S. sanctions designed to put a severe crimp in Iran’s ability to sell oil abroad. Trump also renewed sanctions that tighten restrictions on Iran’s right to stockpile low-enriched uranium and heavy water, which prompted the regime to announce that it would no longer honor the caps set by the nuclear deal on its caches of the key nuclear materials.

#3  ...Interestingly, though...it failed. In the past we would have seen a sharp spike in prices because OH NOES WAR IN THE GULF. Within the few days following, though, gas prices actually went down a few cents.

This, I think is the greatest benefit from the US becoming the number one oil producer on earth - when others can't manipulate the price anymore, a lot of people are going to find themselves shafted and shafted hard. Like, for instance, Iran. The problem now is that since the forty-year old playbook no longer works, they might be driven to a desperation play...

Funny how no one wants to look into that report that Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother...
[American Thinker] You'd think they'd be all over this like tabloid papparazzi. Wild and prurient news always sells papers and draws viewer eyeballs, and the scattered reports about how America's first Muslim congresswoman, Rep. Ilhan Omar, reportedly married her own brother in a bid to bring him into the country ahead of the others trying to get in, is quite a doozy. The press certainly got excited about the Stormy Daniels controversy for such a reason, but why the absence of interest in Omar's kinky weird love life?

Now the fearless Michelle Malkin has taken up the case, wanting to know why this isn't being looked into by either the press or more importantly, these law enforcers. She writes:

Investigations dating back to 2016 by blogger Scott Johnson of Power Line (which recently celebrated 15 years in the blogosphere), David North of the Center for Immigration Studies, Alpha News reporter Preya Samsundar and PJMedia.com reporter David Steinberg have determined that the outspoken Somalian Muslim refugee likely married her own brother named Ahmed Elmi in 2009 for some unknown ill-gotten gain while still informally married to the man she calls her husband and father of her three children, Ahmed Hirsi. After a Somalian website floated questions about the marriage arrangement with Elmi and Johnson's initial reporting broke into the local news, Omar sought to divorce Elmi. Her use of $6,000 in state campaign funds, some of which went to pay a personal divorce lawyer, is currently under state investigation.

To marry her own brother, something her spokespeople brush off as nonsense and refuse to answer questions about. Actually, they ought to be answering questions, to reporters, and investigators - and they most certainly are not. Apparently we all supposed to think that Omar, with her out-there anti-Semitic views, and fourth-world background, is quite incapable of acting in a way that's contrary to bourgeois values.

Malkin also notes that the issue itself, even outside the kink factor, has quite the potential for more serious crime:

Robert Mueller is a Sleazy, Shameful, Partisan Hack
[American Thinker] Robert Mueller should have been disbarred decades ago, along with his enforcer Andrew Weismann; that is how egregious his record of malfeasance is, all matters of public record.

What he did Wednesday morning was his final IED tossed at the President to placate his Democrat overlords who desperately want to impeach Trump. But for what? Mueller gave no list of felonies in his report nor did he detail any crimes of which Trump is even amorphously guilty.

This entire enterprise, the fabricated notion that Trump and/or persons within his campaign colluded with Russians to cheat his way to the presidency was illegitimate from the outset. It did not happen. Not even a very expensive team of Trump-haters could find their way to naming anyone on the Trump side guilty of anything illegal having to do with the election. And we can be certain that if they could have bent and twisted any relationship, any meeting, any friendship, any past association to find Trump guilty of anything, this band of malefactors would have run with it. They found nothing but gossip and innuendo, rather like a clique of mean girls in middle school.

Volume two of Mueller's report was entirely unnecessary but for this gang of thugs' need to vent and hopefully give the Democrats something with which to move ahead with impeachment.

True to form, the dim bulb Democrats are such legal ignoramuses they have continued to insist the report found Trump guilty of all manner of crimes even though it did not. We can be sure that if they had discovered anything useful, they would have used it and recommended charges. But they did not.

So on Wednesday morning, a shaky and seemingly anxious Mueller went before the cameras to say the opposite of what he had told AG Barr, that it was only the OLC (Office of Legal Counsel) guidelines that prevented him for exonerating the President. Barr has testified that on at least two occasions, Mueller told him those guidelines had nothing to do with his final report. There were others present when he said this to Barr.

So, who had the gun to Mueller's jowly head? (He resembles the canine Mastiff.) He has most likely been on the outs with the DC social establishment who were enraged by his report. They had universally assumed it was their ticket to unseating the man. So shocked by Mueller's findings, the ruling elites of the beltway have probably exorcised Mueller from their midst.

Rush on Mueller Probe: ‘If They Get Away with the Criminalization of Policy Differences ‐ Then We're Finished'
[Breitbart] Thursday on his nationally syndicated radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh warned of the dangers of not taking a closer look at the origins of the Mueller probe, which opens the door for "criminalization" of policy differences and politics.

Limbaugh said if such a thing is allowed, it would mean "we’re done" as a country.

Partial transcript as follows:
Everybody with half a brain ought to be outraged with what Mueller did yesterday. But they’re not, because Mueller is an ally in getting rid of a politician they don’t like. They couldn’t defeat the politician at the ballot box, and they couldn’t find any crimes that this politician committed.

So they’re just going to tell everybody they think he’s guilty and that he intended to commit crimes. "But, for crying out loud, we just don’t have the evidence yet! We can’t catch him, but we know he’s guilty. Therefore, because we know he is, he is." That’s what they are constructing here. If they get away with this ‐ if they get away with the criminalization of policy differences ‐ then we’re finished. I mean, given the assets they have?

They have the deep state. They have the media. They have the power of the federal Treasury. Look at what they’re doing now with open borders, flooding the nation. Hollywood, the pop culture corrupting our society. Academia. Wall Street. They have all of this at their disposal. Right now, all we have is the people on our side and maybe 51, 52% of the country. These people have to be defeated. The people that did this have to be held accountable.

Sixteen women sue the FBI claiming they were kicked out of Quantico because they were women and list range of complaints including being 'badgered for sex by male agents, berated and told to reflect on their weaknesses by James Comey'
[MAIL] Sixteen former and current female FBI recruits and analysts have sued the bureau alleging gender discrimination and sexual harassment in a class action lawsuit that includes emails from James Comey.
Misdeeds by St. James? Say it ain't so!
The women filed their lawsuit in federal court on Wednesday night. Of the 16 plaintiffs, seven still work at the bureau. Five have agreed to be named but 11 have not.

Most say they were unfairly stopped from graduating to become Special Agents, often just days before they were due to graduate. They complain that they were penalized for making mistakes that their male counterparts got away with.

One woman, a Native American with a disability, says she was sexually harassed and ridiculed for her disability.

Some allege they were badgered for sex by male recruits at Quantico while completing their agent training and even allege that they had to go back to their rooms with an escort at night because they were often followed.

Others say they were unfairly penalized for behavior their male colleagues got away with and some allege they were discharged by the academy and stopped from going into the field without sufficient explanation within a week of graduation.

On Thursday morning, 10 of the women appeared on NBC's Today show to discuss the case.

And legally, she would have been required to speak to her superiors about it if it would require any kind of awareness on their part at all (needing a prescription in a controlled environment for example). It's not the military. They're just federal police. They don't need to be able to go on campaign.

#6  According to the nonsense of current federal law, I am "disabled". I take a couple pills a day and have an appointment with a doctor every 3-6 months. Disability doesn't mean what it used to. It has been changed by PC speak to mean nearly anything. Without knowing more, you really can't speak to how unworthy the candidate was of being there.

#7  Also, don't discount the timing on this one. Being released now, right as the FBI's upper echelons are about to starting eating each other anyways during the Barr investigation? Not a coincidence. This could easily be used to cut down innumerable powerful people from all sorts of factions from within the FBI. And like most feminist "Me Too" lawsuits and "fact finding" missions, I expect it to find a lot of the stuff it is claiming to be real... but being done by the people who have been assisting the Democrats in tearing down the Trump presidency. Interested to see how it turns out.

World’s tiniest surviving baby born in California
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, hospital on Wednesday disclosed the birth of the world’s smallest baby ever to survive, weighing a mere 245 grams (8.6 ounces) - the same as a large apple - when she was born.

The girl, nicknamed Saybie by hospital staff, was born 23 weeks and three days into her mother’s pregnancy at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in San Diego.

The father was told by doctors that he would have about an hour with his daughter before she passed away.

"But that hour turned into two hours which turned into a day, which turned into a week," the mother said in a video released by the hospital.

Doctors said Saybie was delivered via emergency cesarean section in December after severe pregnancy complications that put her mother’s life at risk.

After nearly five months at the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, she was discharged home earlier this month weighing a healthy five pounds and sporting a graduation cap.

"She is a miracle, that’s for sure," said Kim Norby, one of the nurses who cared for Saybie as she fought to survive with a sign that read "tiny but mighty" posted by her crib.

Emma Wiest, another nurse, said Saybie was so tiny at birth that "you could barely see her on the bed."

At birth, she weighed as much as a child’s juice box and could fit in the palm of the hands of her caretakers.

"I’d heard that we had such a tiny baby and it sounded unbelievable because I mean she’s about half of the weight as a normal 23-weaker," Wiest said.

Saybie’s ranking as the world’s tiniest baby ever to survive is according to the Tiniest Babies Registry, maintained by the University of Iowa.

The previous record was held by a baby born in Germany in 2015 who weighed seven grams more than Saybie.

"Every life is a miracle - those that defy the odds even more so," Edward Bell, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Iowa who oversees the Registry, told AFP.

HIV positive woman killed by husband near Ratodero
[DAWN] SHIKARPUR: An HIV positive woman was strangled by her husband and her body was hanged from a tree in Gharo Rind village in the Dakhan area on Wednesday.

After receiving this information from relatives of deceased Kareema Rind, 30 and mother of five children, the Dakhan police took the body into custody and shifted it to hospital. Later, the body was handed over to relatives after its post-mortem examination at Garhi Yasin Taluka Hospital.

The police registered an FIR against Bahadur Rind, the husband of the dear departed, his brother Darya Khan Rind and relative Johar Rind on the complaint of Akbar Rind, brother of Ms Kareema.

Bahadur was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
but the two other suspects fled the village along with their families.

According to preliminary investigation, Ms Kareema was declared HIV positive recently after her blood screening. Her husband decided to marry another woman but Kareema raised objection.

"This morning the husband strangled [her] with a rope and then hung her from a tree outside his home," Roshan Ali, a police officer in Shikarpur, told AFP.

According to a local police officer, her husband accused Ms Kareema of having an extramarital affair.

Further investigation is under way.

Gharo Rind Village is located near Ratodero in Larkana district, the epicentre of the HIV outbreak where thousands of people have been screened in the last month and hundreds have tested positive for the virus in recent weeks, adds AFP.

Pres. Trump to impose 5% tariff on Mexican imports over illegal immigration
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Thursday the United States will impose a 5% tariff on all goods coming from Mexico starting on June 10 until illegal immigration across the southern border is stopped.

"The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied, at which time the Tariffs will be removed," Trump said on Twitter.

In a statement issued by the White House, Trump said the tariff would increase to 10% on July 1, 15% on Aug. 1, 20% on Sept. 1 and to 25% on Oct. 1.

"Mexico’s passive cooperation in allowing this mass incursion constitutes an emergency and extraordinary threat to the national security and economy of the United States," Trump said in the statement.

"Mexico has very strong immigration laws and could easily halt the illegal flow of migrants, including by returning them to their home countries," he said.

North Korea 'executes envoy to US' after Trump summit failures
[TheGuardian] South Korean paper claims Kim Hyok-chol has been killed and senior negotiator Kim Yong-chol subjected to forced labour

North Korea executed Kim Hyok-chol, its special envoy to the United States, and foreign ministry officials who carried out working-level negotiations for the Hanoi summit in February, a South Korean newspaper has reported.

Kim Yong-chol, a senior official who had been US secretary of state Mike Pompeo’s counterpart in the run-up to the second summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, is also said to have been subjected to forced labour and ideological education as one of the officials held responsible for its collapse, the Chosun Ilbo said.

The North Korean leader was believed to be carrying out a widespread purge to divert attention from internal turmoil and discontent, the newspaper said.

“Kim Hyok-chol was investigated and executed at Mirim airport with four foreign ministry officials in March,” an unnamed North Korea source said, according to the Chosun Ilbo, adding that they were charged with spying for the United States.

Kim Hyok-chol had been the counterpart to Stephen Biegun, the US special representative for North Korea, before the summit.

Kim Yong-chol was forced to work in Jagang province after his dismissal, the newspaper’s source said, adding that Kim Song-hye, who carried out working-level negotiations with Kim Hyok-chol, was sent to a political prison camp.

Shin Hye-yong, the interpreter for Kim at the Hanoi meeting, is also said to have been detained in a political prison camp for undermining the leader’s authority by making a critical interpretation mistake, Chosun reported.

Kim Yo-jong, the regime leader’s sister who helped him in Hanoi, is also said to be “lying low” on her brother’s orders, the paper reported, citing an unnamed South Korean government official who said: “We are not aware of Kim Yo-jong’s track record since the Hanoi meeting.”

The North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun said in a commentary on Thursday: “Acting like one is revering the leader in front [of others] but dreaming of something else when one turns around, is an anti-party, anti-revolutionary act that has thrown away the moral fidelity toward the leader, and such people will not avoid the stern judgment of the revolution.”

“There are traitors and turncoats who only memorise words of loyalty toward the leader and even change according to the trend of the time.”

It is the first time since the December 2013 execution of Jang Song-thaek, Kim’s uncle, that expressions such as “anti-party, anti-revolutionary” and “stern judgment” have appeared in Rodong Sinmun, according to Chosun Ilbo.

[FoxNews] North Korea has executed five officials for their part in the failed second summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Little Kim Jong A-bonbon, according to a South Korean newspaper.

Citing the newspaper, Bloomberg News reported that Kim Hyok Chol, North Korea's special envoy to the U.S., and four other North Korean Foreign Ministry officials were executed in March because of the breakdown of the February summit in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Yezidi woman rescued in Anbar anti-ISIS operation
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces rescued a 19-year-old Yezidi woman during a raid on an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) hideout in Anbar on Thursday, security officials said. Seven bandidos holy warriors were killed in the assault.

The teenager was likely among the thousands of Yezidi women and kiddies kidnapped by ISIS when bandidos holy warriors seized the minority community’s heartland of Shingal in the summer of 2014.

"A force from the Intelligence Agency in the Ministry of Interior was able to free a Yezidi kidnapee held in one of the hideouts belonging to ISIS in al-Anbar’s desert," reads a statement released by Iraq’s security media cell, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

The cell did not provide details on the names or nationalities of the seven bandidos holy warriors killed in the operation or any weapons and intelligence gathered at the scene.

Although ISIS was declared defeated in Iraq in December 2017, its remnants have retreated into Iraq’s deserts and mountains to resume their earlier insurgency tactics.

"We will continue our efforts to free the kidnapped children of our country held by ISIS, and we are bent on returning them to their families," Yahya Rasul, spokesperson for Iraq’s Ministry of Defense, tweeted Thursday.

Ezidi24, a multi-lingual website specializing in Yezidi news, named the rescued woman as Jwan Ilyas Qirmish, born in 2000 and from Shingal, citing an unnamed source.

Some 6,417 Yezidis were kidnapped by ISIS in 2014. Many endured years of sexual slavery or were brutalized as child soldiers. According to the most recent data from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s Yezidi Affairs Office, the fate of 2,992 is still unknown.

Hundreds were recently rescued from the last ISIS holdout in Baghouz, eastern Syria. ISIS was ousted from the town in March 2019.

Yezidi House, a Jazeera-based charity, has returned 491 people to their families in recent weeks, according to Hawarnews, a media outlet close to northern Syria’s Kurdish-led authority.

Three women and three children are still in the charity’s care and are yet to be handed back to their families.

The Yezidi Spiritual Council has said it will not accept children fathered by ISIS rapists into the community, leaving Yezidi survivors to choose between their faith and their children.

Six Killed, 16 Wounded In Kabul Suicide Attack
[ToloNews] At least six people were killed and 16 others were maimed in a suicide kaboom close to Marshal Fahim National Defense University in Kabul city on Thursday, Kabul police confirmed.

The attack took place at 12:10pm Kabul time at the entrance gate of Marshal Fahim National Defense University in Kabul's PD5, according to the officials.

Ministry of Interior said coppers at the gate recognized the suicide attacker and when a policeman was trying to unarm him and prevent him from entering the university, he detonated his explosives.

The ministry said four civilians are also among those maimed.

Eyewitnesses said the jacket wallah detonated his explosives among the cadets who were leaving the university.

All those maimed have been transferred to hospitals, officials said.

Arabia
Saudi Arabia seeks Arab unity over Iran after attacks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Arab leaders began arriving in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on Thursday for emergency summits that Riyadh hopes will deliver a strong message to Iran that regional powers will defend their interests against any threat after attacks on Gulf oil assets this month.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have said they want to avoid war after dronezaps on oil pumping stations in the Kingdom and the sabotage of oil tankers off the UAE coast.

Riyadh accused Tehran of ordering the dronezaps, which were claimed by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
group. A top US security official said Iranian mines were "almost certainly" used in the tanker operation. Tehran denies any involvement.

Saudi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf told a gathering of his counterparts in Jeddah ahead of the summits that the attacks must be addressed with "strength and firmness."

"While summit leaders are likely to discuss how best to avoid a war, King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Lord of Most of the Arabians....
is equally determined to defend Saudi and Arab interests amid increasing tensions between the US and Iran," Prince Turki al-Faisal, former Saudi intelligence chief and envoy, wrote in an opinion piece for Al Arabiya.

He said the meetings of Sunni Moslem Gulf leaders and Arab leaders in Mecca, both due for late night, would discuss Iran’s "interference" in Arab affairs.

Tensions have risen between the United States and Iran after Washington quit a multinational nuclear deal with Iran, re-imposed sanctions and boosted its military presence in the Gulf.

US National Security Advisor John Bolton said on Wednesday that the attack near a UAE bunkering hub was connected to the strike on pumping stations on the Kingdom’s East-West pipeline -- both alternative oil shipping routes to the Strait of Hormuz -- and a rocket attack on Baghdad’s Green Zone.

"There is no doubt in anybody’s mind in Washington who is responsible for this and I think it’s important that the leadership in Iran know that we know," Bolton said.

He said the United States was trying to take a "prudent and responsible" approach but warned Tehran against any new attacks.

An Iranian official dismissed Bolton’s remarks as "a ludicrous claim." The Islamic Theocratic Republic has said it would defend itself against any military or economic aggression.

During the US adviser’s visit to Abu Dhabi, officials activated a defense cooperation agreement signed earlier this year between the United States and the UAE, which hosts a US airbase.

Iraq and Oman, which have good ties with Tehran and Washington, have said they are working to reduce tensions. Doha, which shares a giant gas field with Iran, has offered to help.

French Parcel Bomb Suspect Pledged Allegiance to IS
A photo of the nasty little miscreant can be seen at the link.
[AnNahar] An Algerian suspected of setting off a package bomb in southeast La Belle France last week has told Sherlocks that he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. jihadist group, a judicial source said Thursday.

The 24-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Hichem M., was tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
Monday after an extensive manhunt since Friday, when 13 people were maimed by the kaboom on a busy pedestrian street in Lyon.

Sources close to the case said that after initially refusing to talk, the suspect admitted Wednesday to planting the bomb, packed with screws and ball bearings and a relatively small amount of acetone peroxide, or APEX.

It was the same volatile compound used in the deadly Gay Paree terror attacks of November 13, 2015, which prompted a wave of jihadist attacks in La Belle France that have killed more than 250 people.

The Islamic State group has been behind several of the attacks, though police had said no one had claimed the Lyon blast.

The suspect's brother was also arrested and is still being held for questioning by anti-terror Sherlocks in Gay Paree, although their parents were released from custody on Thursday.

A search of the man's home had already turned up "elements likely to be used for making APEX," one source told AFP, and searches of his computers pointed to internet searches related to jihadism and bomb-building.

Thirteen people were maimed in the blast -- eight women, four men and a 10-year-old girl.

The package was placed in front of a bakery near the corner of two crowded pedestrian streets in the historic heart of Lyon at around 17:30 pm (1530 GMT) last Friday.

Video surveillance cameras led police to identify the man after he expeditiously departed at a goodly pace on a bicycle.

He was arrested while getting off a bus in a suburb just south of the city.

Lyon Mayor Gerard Collomb said this week that the suspect had not been known to the police.

Syria regime strikes kill seven in latest Idlib bloodshed
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Regime air strikes on an turban enclave in northwest Syria killed seven civilians on Thursday, a monitor said, the latest deaths in a bloody wave of government attacks.

Damascus and its ally Russia have pummelled Idlib province and surroundings over the past month despite a truce deal aimed at staving off a humanitarian catastrophe.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring organization says over 285 civilians have been killed since late April in the enclave, home to almost three million people.

"The pace of air strikes decreased relatively on Thursday compared to previous days," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

But bombings still killed seven civilians, including five in the town of Maaret al-Numan on the western edge of the turban-held territory, he said.

An AFP photographer reported the strikes hit a residential area, collapsing a building and killing some of those inside.

The body of a victim could be seen still in bed as rescue workers struggled to reach survivors trapped under the rubble.

Idlib province and some surrounding areas are mostly controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
, a group dominated by former members of al-Qaeda’s Syria affiliate.

The United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
says roughly 270,000 people have been displaced by the fighting since late April and that aid agencies have been forced to halt work in some areas.

Some 30 health facilities and schools have been hit, the UN says.

Despite the surge in attacks, the government has not announced an all-out offensive to retake the entire turban enclave.

Erdogan told Putin it was important to "apply the ceasefire without delay in order to focus once again on finding a political solution" to the Syrian conflict, a statement said.

Pakistan's Financial Monitoring Unit signs deal with UK to counter money laundering, terror financing
[DAWN] The Pak and British governments on Thursday signed an agreement to enhance financial intelligence sharing in order to counter money laundering and terror financing.

A delegation headed by FMU Director General Mansoor Siddiqui signed the agreement with the United Kingdom's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) while on a visit to the UK.

A blurb issued on the occasion stated that the FMU in Pakistain and the FIU in the UK had signed an MoU for the establishment of a channel facilitating the efficient exchange of financial intelligence.

The delegation held meetings with British law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and discussed how to enhance coordination between the FIU and LEAs. The team also familiarised itself with the workings of the FIU, the blurb stated.

As a result of the visit, LEAs on both sides will now have the opportunity to exchange information and carry out more effective investigations.

Syria Kurds repatriate 148 Uzbek ISIS women and children
The Uzbek side of the story can be read here.
[Rudaw] Uzbekistan on Wednesday took back 148 women and kiddies linked to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. group (ISIS) who had been living in the overcrowded al-Hol camp since the jihadists were territorially defeated in March.

The 66 women and 88 children were handed over to Uzbek authorities in the presence of Uzbekistan’s Consul General to Dubai Alisher Salomov, a delegation of Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and women’s rights activists in al-Jazeera canton, northern Syria, Hawar reports.

Their repatriation came at the official request of the Uzbek government, according to Kammal Akif, the Kurdish-led authority’s foreign affairs spokesperson.

The women had asked for their children to be removed from the turban environment, Akif added.

The Uzbek Consul General thanked the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for safely extracting the women and kiddies from the last ISIS holdout of Baghouz, Deir ez-Zor province.

Earlier on Wednesday, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
also took back 188 of its own children with suspected ties to ISIS from Iraq.

Uzbekistan and Turkey are not the only countries to repatriate nationals born to ISIS members.

La Belle France and Germany, Sweden, Tajikistan, Chechnya, Kosovo, and Russia, have all taken back some of their women and kiddies.

Britannia and the United States have refused to take back their nationals.

Europe
Italy, Malta Rescue 165 Migrants in Mediterranean
[AnNahar] The Italian navy rescued 90 migrants colonists stranded in the Mediterranean on Thursday, as 75 other migrants colonists found clinging to a tuna pen were taken to Malta, officials said.

The Italian vessel rescued the migrants colonists, including 15 children, after they sent an SOS signal to Alarm Phone, a volunteer-run Mediterranean rescue hotline, saying that they were taking on water.

The Italian navy confirmed to AFP that the rescue operation was under way but could not immediately provide any further details.

The migrants colonists told Alarm Phone that a five-year-old girl on board had died, although this could not be independently confirmed.

Alarm Phone, which is operated by German association Watch the Med, said the Italian vessel could have rescued the stricken migrants colonists "nearly a day ago".

The Maltese navy said earlier that it had rescued 75 migrants colonists found clinging to a tuna pen while trying to make the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean.

The Maltese military said in a statement that it had coordinated multiple joint rescue operations in conjunction with the Italian coastguard and "in support of the Libyan coastguard".

The UN refugee agency said it spoke to the refugees and migrants colonists when they arrived in Malta "exhausted, hungry, and extremely relieved to be on land after three days at sea."

Malta has appealed to the EU for help in dealing with the flow of migrants colonists, which its much larger neighbour Italia has begun to turn away.

The island of 450,000 people is a common destination for migrants colonists trying to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa, and a hardline stance from Italia has increased pressure on it.

In Italia, the UNHCR said that two boats carrying a total of 103 migrants colonists arrived on the island of Lampedusa having left Libya three days ago.

The UNHCR said that they were "exhausted and cold".

International Organization for Migration figures show 24,687 migrants colonists have reached Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
so far this year, well below the record of around one million in 2015, and 144,000 last year.

As EU nationalists win big, Pope Francis sounds racism alarm
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pope Francis warned Monday against a rise of intolerance and racism as far-right nationalists and Eurosceptic parties made historic gains in European elections.

"The signs of meanness we see around us heighten our fear of ’the other’, the unknown, the marginalized, the foreigner," he said in a message for the World Day of Moslem colonists Migrants and Refugees.

"It is not just about them, but about all of us, and about the present and future of the human family. "Moslem colonists Migrants, especially those who are most vulnerable, help us to read the ’signs of the times’," he said.

Nationalist forces from Marine Le Pen in La Belle France to Matteo Salvini in Italia and Nigel Farage in Britannia boasted significant gains in the EU parliament elections, which wound up on Sunday.

Salvini’s far-right League party did particularly well in Italia in centers seen as migrant "hot spots", including a town held up by the left as a model of tolerance and integration.

Francis acknowledged the "fear" in many societies towards migrants colonists and refugees arriving in search of protection or a better future.

"To some extent, the fear is legitimate, also because the preparation for this encounter is lacking," he said, alluding to often piecemeal and inadequate approaches to refugee integration.

"But the problem is not that we have doubts and fears. The problem is when they condition our way of thinking and acting to the point of making us intolerant, closed and perhaps even ‐ without realizing it ‐ racist," he added.

"Today’s world is increasingly becoming more elitist and cruel towards the excluded," the Argentinian said in his message titled "It is not just about migrants colonists".

"Wars only affect some regions of the world, yet weapons of war are produced and sold in other regions which are then unwilling to take in the refugees produced by these conflicts," he added.

The next World Day of Moslem colonists Migrants and Refugees is not until September 29, but the Vatican sends out papal messages on such subjects well in advance to provide guidance to pastors around the world.

China-Japan-Koreas
Chinese Video Urges War With U.S.
[FreeBeacon] State-controlled media urges fight 'til end,' calls for sanctions on U.S. companies
President Trump got the CCP's attention.
China's Communist Party-controlled media stepped up a war of words with the United States recently urging an escalation of the ongoing trade dispute into a full-scale conflict. "China must be prepared to fight a protracted war," states a four-minute, anti-American video posted five days ago on a Chinese video-sharing service.

The video was posted on Watermelon Video, a short-video sharing platform that is under control of Beijing's State Administration of Radio and Television, the propaganda control office that regulates all online and broadcast content. Anything broadcast or published to the estimated 300 million Watermelon users is therefore considered approved by senior leaders of the ruling Communist Party of China.

Analysts of Chinese propaganda said the posting of the video urging conflict with the United States represents a shift in official Communist Party policy in favor of more hardline anti-U.S. policies. The report said President Trump's announcement of increased tariffs on Chinese goods earlier this month was an escalation of the trade dispute. "This is an undisguised threat from a modern imperialistic country," the video said. "Now that they can't scare us with military forces, they resort to economic measures."

According to the video, the trade war is about politics, not economic differences.

"The trade war itself is not the goal but only a means to an end," the video says.
Back at you Ching.
"In essence the trade war is a competition of overall national strength between China and USA." The trade dispute was not launched by Trump but instead was instigated by anti-Chinese groups, the video asserts. "We should be prepared for the expansion of the trade war because in its core, the United States is a country that admires strength," the video said. "It is a matter of our country's future, and China must not make any concessions. Fortune favors the bold, all imperialists are paper tigers!"

Guo Wengui, a dissident Chinese billionaire, urged the White House National Security Council, Pentagon and U.S. intelligence agencies to closely study the video for clues to future Chinese actions. By permitting the release of video, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leaders are "trying to incite people to get behind the CCP and to lay out a plan for national warfare against the U.S.," Guo said. "This is not a joke from the CCP because they are really embedding a kind of a message in this video to prepare to confront the U.S.," he said.

#1  Quite possibly rooted in truth, but I doubt it. Maybe it's for local consumption. One of the reasons they are doing so well is they have avoided major, expensive military engagements for what, 50 years? Anyway, I have not seen nor heard anything like this locally. No Chinese have mentioned it to me. There are some ghettos in their major cities they would love to clean up, but I don't think they are in the mood to totally rebuild Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing, and other cities, which would be required after a fight with the US.

Civil society weighs in as Iraq vows to execute French citizens
[Al Jazeera] Activists and lawyers have pleaded with the French government to recognise flaws in Iraq's justice system after two more of its citizens accused of ISIS membership were given the death penalty
, bringing the total to six.

The executions could be carried out at the end of the week.

"We have information from Iraqi lawyers who do not want to take on these cases on because it's too dangerous for them," Raphael Chenuil-Hazan, Executive Director of the French NGO Together Against the Death Penalty (ECPM) told Al Jazeera.

Human rights groups accuse the Iraqi government of conducting thousands of unfair trials against those suspected to be members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS or ISIS).

A report from Human Rights Watch said the trials are based on limited criminal evidence, often relying solely on a defendant's forced confession.

Defence lawyers have reported threats to them and their families for providing legal aid to ISIS suspects.

Iraq's justice system aside, Chenuil-Hazan said the French government has a responsibility to protect its citizens from the death penalty, which has been outlawed in La Belle France since 1981.

"Whatever they have done and whatever they have been accused of, La Belle France has a responsibility to support its citizens ... especially when they face the death penalty in another part of the world," said Chenuil-Hazan.

Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian told French radio on Tuesday that he had been in contact with Iraqi President Barham Salih, and that the government was "multiplying efforts to avoid the death penalty."

"We are absolutely against the death penalty," Le Drian told French radio station La Belle France Inter. But, he added, "These murderous Moslems ... need to be tried where they committed their crimes. It's the Iraqi justice system that will decide on them."

Death penalties should be swiftly carried out, en masse if necessary. The lollygagging around due process in 'civil' countries will one day make countries like Iraq 'sentencing destinations' and adjudication for heinous crimes will become a major export. Think of it. An A+ idea for a movie script.☺

The Terrible Case For Staying In Syria
The co-authors of this piece are policy wonks who spent time at the libertarian Cato Institute. From the About for War on the Rocks:
War on the Rocks is a platform for analysis, commentary, debate and multimedia content on foreign policy and national security issues through a realist lens. It features articles and podcasts produced by an array of writers with deep experience in these matters: top notch scholars who study war, those who have served or worked in war zones, and more than a few who have done it all.
[WarOnTheRocks] President Donald Trump was right to want to pull U.S. troops out of Syria and should not have let his advisers overrule him. The rationales the administration gives for keeping U.S. forces in Syria are impossibly ambitious, and vehicles for escalation. Elements of the administration, starting with John Bolton, the national security adviser, seem eager to use U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq as bait for a war with Iran.

We have occasionally hoped that Congress might bestir itself to vote on the U.S. war in Syria, or even end it. Instead, its members mostly criticized the possibility of withdrawal, avoided any vote on the war, and now have sponsored an expert report setting out an extravagant set of missions for the small U.S. force remaining there.
They won't be able to accomplish these missions, so naturally the troop presence must be vastly increased. Another Vietnam, here we come!

That's remarkable. How do you know this? Can you read minds? Can you tell me what I had for breakfast?

#3  The problem is that those who abandon their friends when tired of them soon have no more friends. Trump so far has not done that,
The key question is, if he abandons the Kurds and or the Saudis, will Kim or any sane Iranis trust him enough to make any concessions?
The Turks do have a long term problem. Kurds are having more children than other Turks, and will eventually become a majority in Turkey. Putin has a similar problem with Moslems in Russia. The Western Europeans have been seeking the same problem for reasons not very clear.
Their problem is that their native populations have turned against parenting, and they want enough new people to occupy their real estate.
We are in uncharted times.

My recollection is that our strange and irrational behavior in Libya was done by the very same people who withdrew us from Iraq, which led to the horrors of ISIS.
They managed to make everyone treat us with disdain.

Mr. McCoy is quoting my in-line comment on the Page 49’d portion of the ery long article, Daniel. As to how I know, the Mad Mullahs have been proclaiming their plans at the start of every military parade since 1980. But even if they hadn’t, let us contemplate what it is that jihadis are required by Allah and the Prophet Mohamed’s perfect example to do, and compare to Iran’s actions in the intervening period, which I will address when I’m not falling asleep — though there are others here who can lay it all out considerably better than I. ;-)

While I have not personally received a hand-written declaration on the Ayatollah's offical stationary, I tend to give this a high probability of being true based on what the Ayatollahs have said in the past, the tenets of Islam, and the fact that Iran is an Islamic theocracy.

#13  Accusing Iran of world conquest? I mean, come on. This is pure psychological projection. When you're guilty of something

You accuse me of wanting to conquer the world, Mr. McCoy?

Seriously?

What would I do with it? I’ve been to other parts of the world. Many of them I wouldn’t want to live in even as an expat spouse — shopping followed by tea on the veranda while native nursemaids take care of the children, native housemaids take care of the cleaning, and the native cook takes care of meals palls within a week. Let them rule themselves, and as long as they don’t feed jihadis at their breasts, I don’t care.

Go read Rantburg’s archives, Herb. Start on 9/11 and work your way forward to today. Then you'll have a better understanding of what the Mad Mullahs want, and how they think they’ll accomplish it much more cleverly than by open invasion.

#14  I can't believe educated adults really think that Iran wants to conquer America, like an actual invasion with landing craft and everything.

Now you are changing definitions in mid-stream. And being a bit silly, IMHO.

War comes in many flavors, from the balls-to-the-wall peer-to-peer industrialized warfare we saw in WWII to the various low-level insurgencies we see around the globe. No one is arguing that Iran is preparing to invade CONUS or even Andalusia - sorry, I mean Spain, which was once a Muslim province. But we have been in a state of war with Iran since 1979. Or 1983 if you count the Marine barracks in Beirut. No coastal invasions, but continuing attacks on our facilities and interests around the world.

The recent shipping attacks may be a false flag, but more likely it's just the Iranians fucking with the Saudis. And it may not have been the Iranians directly, but one of their proxies. That's how it is done nowadays. Deniability and all that. At one time this would be important, but with the rise of America as a producer, the Straits of Hormuz isn't the big deal it used to be - at least as far as we're concerned.

You may be concerned that Bolton or one of our little pit bulls is barking up a storm. But without a stick, or threat of a stick, there is no carrot. Prediction: you will never see American boots on the ground in Iran. There is no reason for it. But that doesn't mean we won't bomb the crap out of some of their facilities. Does the name Gaddafi ring a bell? Assuming the Israelis don't beat us to the punch.

Like the man said, you may not be interesting in war but war is interested in you. The only questions are whether you acknowledge it and what you intend to do about it. Do you think an Iran with nukes wouldn't pass them along to one of their proxies?

Kirkuk conniptions: Series of deadly explosions shake Kirkuk, turbans attack innocent peasants, burn fields

Several deadly explosions shake Kirkuk

[Rudaw] A number of explosions hit Kirkuk city late on Thursday, killing three people and injuring at least 16 people.

Speaking on Rudaw TV, the head of Kirkuk Operations Saad Harbya said the situation is under control. He blamed the Islamic State (ISIS) for trying to "retaliate against the harsh attacks by Iraqi forces."

For nearly two months, Iraqi Security Forces have been conducting anti-ISIS clearing operations, primarily in southern Kirkuk.

Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED) detonated around 10 p.m. (local time).

Rudaw's correspondent in Kirkuk said three people have died and 18 were wounded, including a high-ranking police officer.

Iraqi Security Media Cell later confirmed the explosion in a statement that six IEDs exploded in Kirkuk and security forces “defused” two others.

“These attacks took place in the streets of Quds, [near] the governor’s office and Baghdad Road in Kirkuk province, injuring two people,” it said. The area is a popular commercial area where many malls and nightlife spots are located.

The media cell added in a separate statement that three people were initially killed and 16 were injured.

No group immediately claimed the attacks.

Kirkuk villagers clash with ISIS, 1 dead and 7 wounded

Kirkuk (IraqiNews) War Media Cell announced, on Thursday, that some villagers in Kirkuk have clashed with the Islamic State militants. The clashes have resulted in the killing of one persons and wounding of seven others.

The Cell said in a press statement that Eftkharat Village’s residents, in Daquq District, clashed with some IS militants. One of the villagers was killed, while seven others were injured due to the clashes, the statement added.

The statement further added that the clashes resulted also in burning agriculture crops.

One person died and nine others were injured on Wednesday night when a fire tore through a wheat field in southern Kirkuk, local officials confirmed. Islamic States (ISIS) militants are thought to be behind a recent spate of arson attacks targeting crops.

Areas affected by the fire included Ali Saray, Anana and Kobani villages of the Kakai region and Dara in Haftaghar area in Daquq, southern Kirkuk.

“When the fire ripped through the farmlands of Ali Saray village, I was nearby and saw some people from a distance torching the crops,” Luqman Khurshid, a local agricultural worker, told Rudaw

The fire broke out at around 10:30 p.m., he said.

“One person named Hardi Saman was killed and nine others wounded while trying to put out the fire by bullets from ISIS militants,” Rajab Kakai, head of the Mitra Organization for the Development of Yarsani Culture, told Rudaw English.

“We have no doubt it was done by ISIS, because last fall they had come up to the farmers when cultivating their land warning them that they had to pay them Zakat when they harvested their crops,” he said, referring to a form of Islamic tax.

“The scale of the fire was big. More than 200 dunams of Kakai lands were torched last night,” Kakai added.

In a statement, Iraqi Security Forces said Haftaghar residents had clashed with “Daesh gangs”.

“The residents of [Haftaghar] village of Daquq district in the Kirkuk province clashed with members of terrorist Daesh gangs, leading to the martyrdom of one citizen ... and the burning of agricultural crops,” the Iraqi Security Media Cell said Thursday morning, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Arson attacks on agricultural land are a new tactic employed by ISIS remnants operating in the disputed territories.

Hundreds of dunams of cropland have been burned over the course of May in Diyala, Kirkuk, Saladin, and Nineveh provinces.

ISIS claimed responsibility for some of the attacks via its media outlets. Other incidents were potentially caused by land disputes, electrical faults, or by accident.

More cropland was burned earlier this month in Makhmour, a disputed area to the southwest of Erbil, after local farmers refused to pay the Islamic tax.

Disputed parts of Diyala, Nineveh, and Saladin provinces are claimed by both the Kurdistan Regional Government in Erbil and Iraq’s central government in Baghdad. Militants are exploiting the security gaps between federal and Peshmerga lines.

ISIS is not the only militarized body accused of arson. In fires that took place in Khanaqin, locals blamed the Shiite paramilitaries Hashd al-Shaabi (known in English as the Popular Mobilization Forces, or PMF). Locals there also claimed to have received calls demanding zakat.

Babies Among 150 Saved from Libya Clashes in Airlift to Rome
[AnNahar] Nearly 150 migrants colonists from East Africa, including 65 minors and 13 babies under one, were rescued from conflict-torn Libya and airlifted to Rome on Thursday by the U.N. refugee agency.

"Due to the violent festivities and deteriorating security conditions in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, 149 refugees and vulnerable asylum seekers were evacuated and transferred to Rome," the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said.

Those airlifted to safety -- including a two-month-old infant -- came from Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
, Somalia, Sudan and Æthiopia, it said.

"After months spent in desperate conditions in detention centres", and trapped by renewed fighting in the North African country, many were suffering from malnutrition or needed medical attention, UNHCR said.

"Other evacuation operations are needed," the UNHCR mission head in Libya, Jean-Paul Cavalieri, was quoted as saying.

"These operations represent a lifeline for refugees, for whom the only way to escape is to entrust their lives to unscrupulous traffickers in order to cross the Mediterranean," he said.

Earlier this week, 62 people from Syria, Sudan and Somalia were evacuated from Tripoli to the UNHCR Emergency Transit Centre in Timisoara, Romania, where they were to receive medical care before going on to Norway.

The U.N. agency said it was grateful to states that have offered evacuation opportunities, but warned that "at present the number of new detainees is increasing much faster than the number of those being evacuated."

Nearly 1,000 people have been evacuated from Libya or resettled so far in 2019, while in May alone more than 1,200 people were returned by the Libyan coasties after being intercepted trying to cross the Mediterranean, it said.

Clashes between rival forces in Libya and heavy bombardments have forced more than 83,000 Libyans to flee their homes since the start of April, according to the U.N.

More than 2,400 have also been maimed, while 100,000 people are feared trapped by the festivities raging on the outskirts of Tripoli, according to the World Health Organization.

Libyan strongman Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, who is leading a military offensive against the U.N.-recognized government in Tripoli, said Sunday he will continue fighting until militias in the city laid down their arms.

Nicaragua gov't says it released 50 more political prisoners
[Al Jazeera] Nicaragua's government said on Thursday it has released 50 prisoners detained in protests from jail to house arrest as an agreed-upon deadline to release all such prisoners approaches.

In a statement, the government said that all were held on charges of crimes against security and public peace, terms it uses for those involved in anti-government protests that swept the nation over the past year.

The government has made several similar releases in recent months, but the opposition Civic Alliance pulled out of talks with the government earlier this month because not all of the prisoners had been released.

The government has committed to releasing all detained protesters by June 18 and has said 142 remain imprisoned, though the Civic Alliance had said on Wednesday that 233 political prisoners were still behind bars.

Judicial probe into Farishta's murder recommends strict action against police officials
[DAWN] The judicial inquiry report into the murder, abduction and alleged rape of 10-year-old Farishta has been submitted to the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, and it recommends strict action against the station house officer, investigation officer and other police officials, DawnNewsTV reported on Thursday citing district administration sources.

The judicial probe, conducted by additional deputy commissioner general (ADCG) Wasim Ahmed, found that the police misbehaved with Farishta's family when they attempted to lodge a complaint following the child's alleged abduction.

According to a first information report (FIR) filed by the victim's father, Gul Nabi, his daughter had gone out to play on May 15 at around 5pm but did not return. Upon failing to find her, he feared that she had been kidnapped.

He stated that he had gone to the cop shoppe "instantly" and reported the incident. A missing person's report was filed on May 16, the FIR stated.

Nabi alleged that instead of filing an FIR and trying to recover Farishta, the SHO told them that she must have eloped. He also accused the Shahzad Town cop shoppe’s staff of forcing him to sweep the station.

The FIR was eventually filed on May 19 ‐ four days after her disappearance.

MNA Mohsin Dawar, who had been highlighting the case on social media, also alleged that the victim's parents had "continuously requested concerned cop shoppe for FIR but they refused".

Dawar, in a tweet on May 20, also alleged that Polyclinic Hospital had refused to conduct a postmortem examination on the body.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
on May 21, hospital sources told DawnNewsTV that the exam had been conducted and the results are awaited.

According to the inquiry report, the medico legal officer at the hospital was not responsible for the delay in the results of the postmortem as "there is no such officer appointed at the hospital during the night hours".

[Rudaw] Iranian oil exports fell to 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) in May, half the amount it exported in April, indicating the US ’maximum pressure’ campaign to drive down Tehran’s main source of revenue is succeeding.

Washington reimposed economic sanctions on Iran in November last year after pulling out of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal in May 2018.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Uzbekistan Says 156 Citizens Evacuated from Mideast Conflicts
See here for the Syrian side of things.
[AnNahar] Uzbekistan on Thursday said it had repatriated 156 citizens, mostly women and kiddies, caught up in unspecified Middle East armed conflicts, a day after Kurdish authorities in Syria said they had handed over scores of Uzbeks linked to IS.

The Uzbekistan foreign ministry said the citizens had been "tricked into the zone of armed conflicts in the Middle East" but made no reference to the country from which the citizens were returning.

Their arrival in the capital Tashkent "by special flight" was ordered by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the statement said.

The Uzbek authorities offered few details of the repatriation but said the government would "provide comprehensive assistance to rehabilitation and reintegration for all Uzbek citizens who have returned to their homeland after a difficult life".

The announcement came after Kurdish authorities in northeast Syria on Wednesday handed over 148 Uzbek women and kiddies linked to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group to diplomats from the Central Asian country for repatriation.

In total more than 300 Uzbeks were due to be sent home, front man Kamal Akef told AFP, as the Kurds look to transfer away thousands of foreign jihadists trapped in camps following the defeat of the IS "caliphate" by U.S.-backed forces.

The fall of the Islamic State's caliphate in Iraq and Syria has left many countries grappling with what to do with the jihadists and their relatives.

Many of their countries of origin have been reluctant to repatriate them or put them on trial at home.

The largest repatriation effort by a European country so far saw Kosovo in April take back 110 of its nationals from Syria -- mostly the wives and children of IS fighters.

Earlier this year hundreds of people were repatriated to neighboring Kazakhstan from Syria and some were detained for extremism on arrival.

Another Central Asian country, Tajikistan, said this month that 84 children had been brought back from Iraq, where their parents had been either sentenced to prison for extremism-related crimes or killed in battle.

More than 370,000 people have been killed and half of Syria's population displaced since the war began in March 2011.

Another accused held in boy murder case in Haripur
[DAWN] After taking three accused into custody, the Sera-e-Saleh police tossed in the clink
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
another resident named in the boy's murder case.

The court of a judicial magistrate handed over all accused to the investigation team for interrogation on two days physical remand. Regional Police Officer, Hazara, Mohammad Ali Babakhel told news hounds that Haseebullah, a seven-year-old resident of Mohallah Jandran in Sera-e-Saleh village, had gone missing on May 23. He said the boy’s body was found under a bridge near the River Daur on May 25 evening.

The RPO said the medico-legal officer, who performed postmortem on the body, had disclosed that the death was caused by stoning and strangulation but he denied that the boy was subjected to sexual assault.

He said a team of Sherlocks headed by SP Asif Gohar and DPO Dr Zahidullah Jan arrested Sangeen Jan, a resident of Quetta, who currently lived in Sera-e-Saleh, as he was seen with the boy on May 23 evening.

Mr Babakhel said Sangeen disclosed that Haseeb accompanied him on May 23 when Abdullah Younis, Saad Jamil, Sayaab Gul and Shiraz of the same village intercepted them and assaulted him (Sangeen) one after another.

He said Haseeb told culprits that he would inform Sangeen’s father about the assault, so one of them, Abdullah Younis, bashed his head in with a rock smashed his head with a heavy stone, while the others attacked him with stones before strangling him.

The RPO said the accused later dumped the body in bushes under a bridge. Referring to the postmortem report, he denied that the minor boy was sexually assaulted before being killed.

He said Haseeb was killed to do away with the evidence of Sangeen’s gang rape. Mr Babakhel said the medical examination of Sangeen Jan confirmed sexual assault, while the police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the four accused under section 377/34 of PPC on his complaint. He said the accused, who had confessed to the crime, would be produced in the court on Friday.

Bangladeshi teenagers rescued from Dubai club
[Dhaka Tribune] Four underage Bangladeshi girls forced into prostitution were rescued from a Deira nightclub by police, a Dubai court heard on Tuesday.

The victims, aged between 16 and 17, were taken to the Gulf Arab country last year to work as dancers and hookers at a nightclub in Al Muraqabbat.

In March this year, police were alerted to a teenager working as a dancer in a hotel nightclub who looked underage, reports Gulf News.

Police raided the nightclub and found 19 women and five procurers, aged 20 to 39.

"All the women were working as dancers and hookers," said a police officer. "Four of them were under the age of 18.

"We raided the place and rescued the victims, who were referred to a women and kiddies’s shelter in Dubai."

The defendants had brought the victims into the country using passports that showed their ages as much older, added the officer.

One 17-year-old victim said she agreed to come to Dubai to help support her family at home.

She said that a man arranged her passport and paid her money to travel to Dubai, where she was taken to a house with other girls.

"I agreed to work as a dancer because my family is poor and needed money," the victim said.

"Four days after arriving in the country, they took us to the nightclub and told us that we will work as dancers. They asked me to have illegal affairs with three customers per month," she said, confirming that the manager of the nightclub was the one running the operation.

The victims were brought into the country at different times last year.

Five defendants were charged with human trafficking. They denied the charges in court. The trial will resume on June 18 to hear the witnesses.

'Terror bid foiled' as Quetta police kills alleged suicide bomber outside Imambargah
[DAWN] Quetta police on Thursday killed an alleged jacket wallah in the city's Mecongi road area when he attempted to gain entry into Imambargah
...since Pakistain is very religiously correct, Shia Moslems can't call their houses of worship 'mosques,' which are reserved for Sunnis. It's not clear if imambargahs are used for explosives storage like mosques are...
Nasirul Aza, according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema.

A policeman was also injured when the bomber, reportedly dressed in a woman's attire, hurled a hand-held bomb towards the Imambargah, the DIG said, adding that a "major terror bid has been foiled."

The injured policeman was rushed to the nearby civil hospital for medical treatment. The doctors later described his condition as "out of danger".

The bomber was carrying almost 12 to 15kg of explosives, an official of the bomb disposal squad who wished not to be named told DawnNewsTV.

Following the incident, additional police force reached the scene of the crime and initiated their investigation. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The Imam Bargah Nasirul Aza is located in the heart of Quetta city and has been targeted in the past as well.

Security has been beefed up in and around Quetta in anticipation of Jumatul Wida and Youmul Quds.

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani "acknowledged and praised the police constable's successful foiling of the terror bid", which he said "saved many previous lives".

Maldives ex-president elected parliament speaker
[DAWN] The Maldives’ parliament has overwhelmingly voted the country’s first democratically-elected president as the speaker of the house. Mohammed Nasheed received 67 votes from among 87 members. His rival received 17 votes past midnight on Tuesday.

The speaker also has a role in the Judicial Services Commission that regulates the Supreme Court, and is third in line should the positions of the president and vice president become vacant.

President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih’s Maldivian Democratic Party has swept the parliamentary elections, winning 65 out of 87 seats. Last year, Solih defeated strongman Yameen Abdul Gayoom in the presidential vote.

The elections paved the way for Nasheed’s return home after years in exile. Nasheed, a former pro-democracy activist was elected president of the Indian Ocean archipelago in 2008, ending a 30-year autocratic government. He resigned in 2012 amid public upheaval over his decision to arrest a senior judge.

He lost the 2013 presidential election to Yameen, and was later locked away

He hinted that the United States may present evidence to the UN Security Council proving Iran was behind this month's oil infrastructure attacks in the Persian Gulf.

Suspected Somali Pirates Arraigned Seychelles Supreme Court
[RADIOSHABELLE] The Seychelles Supreme Court has formally charged five suspected Somali pirates who were transferred to Seychelles by EU NAVFOR in April, the Police said on Tuesday.

Britain
Brits disavowed Steele...
[TheHill] Multiple witnesses have told Congress that, a week before Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, Britain’s top national security official sent a private communique to the incoming administration, addressing his country’s participation in the counterintelligence probe into the now-debunked Trump-Russia election collusion.

Most significantly, then-British national security adviser Sir Mark Lyall Grant claimed in the memo, hand-delivered to incoming U.S. national security adviser Mike Flynn’s team, that the British government lacked confidence in the credibility of former MI6 spy Christopher Steele’s Russia collusion evidence, according to congressional investigators who interviewed witnesses familiar with the memo.
Oh? Then why did the British government say absolutely nothing publicly on the subject since then? Instead we see announcements that President Trump will be snubbed by Parliament and that former teevee actress who married a real, live prince.

#9  One example from the old TV series Mission Impossible with first Steven Hill and later Peter Graves as Mr. Phelps:

Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Walter Townsend, one of our high-ranking intelligence officers, whom we recently discovered is a top enemy agent. Upon learning this, we allowed Townsend access to false information which will cause his country severe embarrassment if believed and acted upon. Unfortunately, this man, George Simpson, Townsend's only contact in America, discovered the information was false and reported to his superiors that Townsend had defected. However, his superiors are aware Simpson is jealous of Townsend. The truth or falsity of this information is so important that they are sending their most brilliant intelligence officer. Stefan Miklos, to investigate. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to make Stefan believe Townsend's information. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim. 1967-1973.

The govmint must have used this series for training. Reality imitates art.

#11  The Brits get most of their information about us from the NYTimes and Washington Post and the networks and perhaps CIA contacts, and from them believed that the walls were closing in on Trump and helping him would be dangerous to them from a vindictive Ms. Clinton.
Note that Nunes revealed that the information about Papadopoulos from the Australian guy came to the FBI unofficially and not through the standard channels.
Parliament hates to admit that it has been duped by idiots. It already looks like a crowd of losers from its own Brexit performance.

#13  Time to dump them and the Turks.

Cut out their spy agencies for a bit, perhaps. Let’s see who the new prime minister is.
