Ben Rhodes can't answer questions about Obama secretly granting Iran access to US financial system
[Washington Examiner - HT Weasel Zippers]
Ben Rhodes, a former top aide to President Barack Obama, repeatedly dodged questions from CNN's Wolf Blitzer !! Friday about a new report claiming his administration misled Congress about granting Iran access to the U.S. financial system during the negotiation of the Iranian nuclear deal.

On Wednesday, Senate Republicans released a report claiming that the Obama administration secretly granted Iran a license "that authorized a conversion of Iranian assets worth billions of U.S. dollars using the U.S. financial system," despite administration officials testifying before Congress that granting Iran access to the U.S. financial system was never on the table as a negotiating tool.

The former deputy national security adviser for strategic communications tried to shoot down the idea the administration misled Congress by telling Blitzer that it was only a "single license granted" that was "never even used."

Rhodes added that it doesn't really matter how the administration operated, as Republicans "got what they wanted. They tore up the Iran deal."

"Instead of actually putting forward a policy for nuclear weapons going forward, they are investigating things in a partisan way that happened years ago," he stated. "And frankly what is more concerning to me is the fact that a few days ago the supreme leader of Iran said they're going to resume the nuclear enrichment activities. That is what we should be worried about here."

So, at this point what difference does it make? Ask the victims of Iranian sponsored terrorism in the Middle East.

Trump Twitter lawsuit ‘winner' officially let go from Vanderbilt U. Medical Center
[Legal Insurrection]"Performance Issues"
One of the plaintiffs in the President Trump Twitter "block" case has been let go from his gig at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Eugene Gu had been on paid leave since posting a picture on Twitter of himself kneeling with a raised fist ‐ in protest against "white supremacy" ‐ and the mother of a patient under his care had complained.

According to The (Duke) Chronicle, the VUMC cited "performance issues" in its decision not renew Gu's contract.

A letter to Gu from VUMC General Counsel Michael Regier cites his "lack of sufficient improvement in performance and conduct in key areas" and notes "the most ‘significant areas of concern were ‘patient care, communication, and medical knowledge.'"

Gu alleges he dealt with a hostile work environment after VUMC "pinned" a tweet of its response to The Chronicle's investigation into the kneeling incident.

US Spec Ops Soldier killed, 4 others wounded in ‘enemy attack' in Somalia
[NY Post] The US military says one US special operations soldier has been killed and four US service members wounded in an "enemy attack" in Somalia.

US Africa Command says in a statement that US troops with Somalian and Kenyan forces came under mortar and small-arms fire Friday in Jubaland, Somalia, at around 2.45 p.m. local time.

One member of the "partner forces" was wounded. One of the wounded US service members received sufficient medical care in the field, and the other three were medically evacuated for additional treatment.

The statement does not identify the attackers but says a larger force of Somalian and Kenyan troops were conducting an operation against al-Shabab militants.

#2  This seems very suspicious. A larger force of Somalis and Kenyans escapes virtually unscathed, but the USSF troops suffer very significant casualties.

To me this looks like the "natives" either set the Americans up, or abandoned them as soon as the fighting started.

Arabia
Oman says running out of patience with UAE violations
[PRESSTV] More tensions emerge among the already divided Persian Gulf countries as Oman warns the United Arab Emirates against continued "theft" of its intellectual property and national heritage.

"Neighbors should realize that the Omani nation has run out of patience," Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Craft Industries of Oman Isam bin Ali al Rawas has said.

In an interview with local al-Wisal radio station, he warned that Oman's ruler Sultan Qaboos was in possession of damning documents against the UAE, which he would reveal if he decided to do so.

Tension has been simmering since 2011 when Oman disbanded an Emirati spy cell targeting Sultan Qaboos. Oman was further incensed after the UAE unveiled its map which included Oman’s Musandam Province at the opening of Louvre Abu Dhabi last November.

The last straw came recently after a UAE series portrayed an Omani historical figure as an Emirati icon.

Muscat, which has tried to avoid being dragged into a Saudi-led rift with Qatar

and the UAE are accused of plotting to monopolize power in the Persian Gulf region through aggressive policies against their neighbors.

On Wednesday, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi unveiled a raft of economic deals, signing 20 memorandums of understanding for over 60 joint projects, including in the oil and gas, banking, nuclear energy, and defense.

The deals, approved at a meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council in the Saudi port city of Jeddah, did not involve the four other Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members -- Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain, and non-member Egypt imposed an all-out blockade against Qatar last year, accusing it of supporting terrorism. Doha has strongly denied

the allegation.

Europe
US challenging rules-based international order: EU president
[PRESSTV] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
president, Donald Tusk, has expressed worries that US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
is in fact threatening the rules-based international order established in the wake of the Cold War by his attempts to break or renegotiate a number of international agreements.

"It is evident that the American president and the rest of the group continue to disagree on trade, climate change and the Iran nuclear deal," Tusk said at a presser ahead of the 44th G7 summit in the Canadian town of La Malbaie, north of Quebec, on Friday.

In June last year, Trump announced that he would pull his country out of the 2015 global agreement to fight climate change, known as the Gay Paree Agreement, characterizing the move as "a reassertion of American illusory sovereignty", drawing at the time rebuke from Democrats at home and world leaders who had pressed him not to abandon the 197-nation accord.

The American leader, on May 8, also walked away from the landmark nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was reached between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, Britannia, La Belle France, Russia and China - plus Germany.

He further vowed to reinstate US nuclear sanctions on Iran and impose "the highest level" of economic bans on the Islamic Theocratic Republic. His controversial decision faced criticism from the EU and the other signatories of the historic deal.

#1  Because this "order" was a precursor to one world government. Luckily the Americans saw through it and elected a man to put an end to it.

The entire point of this "order" was to make horrible deals that screwed America over to bribe other countries to join the globalist system. That's right, we not only cripple our own people but we get to pay for the whole thing. Then after all is said and done, America bows before the UN or successor international organization and surrenders its sovereignty, to become an overtaxed province of a distant government.

Thank God for President Trump.

#8  Yeah, basically. Zeihan explains America has a sweet spot on the planet and globalists are keen to confiscate our wealth and use it to fund their world government plan. That was basically the Paris Agreement. Likewise TPP would have been the stake in the heart of our most vulnerable people, by putting them in direct competition with nations like Thailand. Thus with such monumental bribes of our money, other nations would not be in a position to say no when a global government would be formed. It was a frighteningly real plan and look for them to try it again after Trump leaves office.

and the United Arab Emirates are seeking to overthrow Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifah, the world's longest-serving premier, in a bid to gain more influence in the Persian Gulf country.

While older leaders in the region support Khalifah, the younger ones, namely Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

The source also noted that both former Late King of the Arabians, Sheikh of the Burning Sands Abdullah

"As Saudi king, Abdullah objected to the elimination of Khalifa. King Salman

Mohammed bin Salman has no relationship with him and does not care much about him."

"It is likely that bin Salman does not mind overthrowing the prime minister in order to satisfy bin Zayed, who seeks to rearrange the situation in Bahrain, crowning a new prince, and overthrowing the old figures," he added.

The source further emphasized that bin Zayed was pushing for more influence in Bahrain and regarded King Hamad as a close friend and ally.

Afghanistan
Afghan shoppers go online during Ramadan to avoid bombs, harassment
[PRESSTV] The young 27-year-old owner of online retailer Afghan Mart is making brisk sales in Kabul after setting up shop just over a year ago with 500,000 Afghanis ($7,000) worth of goods.

Esmatullah said that an average of 50 customers call him daily for deliveries during the current holy month of Ramadan after browsing his goods online. It's reflective of a wider trend for shoppers in the Afghan capital, who are going online to stock up on everything from food to fashion in fast-growing numbers to avoid kabooms and sexual harassment.

Delivery man Ajmal Jan said riding his cycle of violence through the streets of a city like Kabul, where danger lurks in almost every street, was a major challenge of his profession. Security is a concern for many in the city where one kaboom can be followed by a second in the same area.

UN peace plan wants Houthis in govt., end to Saudi strikes
[PRESSTV] The United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
has reportedly drawn up a peace plan to end the Saudi war on Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
amid the failure of international diplomacy to halt the deadly aggression.

The peace plan calls on Yemen’s Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
Ansarullah movement to renounce its ballistic missiles in return for an end to the bombing campaign by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. and a transitional governance agreement, Rooters reported Friday.

The draft document, cited by the news agency, has been drafted by the UN’s Yemen envoy Martin Griffiths. It says, "Heavy and medium weapons including ballistic missiles shall be handed over by non-state military actors in an orderly and planned fashion."

The document calls for establishing an inclusive transition government, "in which political components shall be adequately represented," in an apparent not to the Houthis. The plan, however, offers no detail on how much representation the Houthis might receive in the transitional government.

The Houthis and this allies administer Sana'a and are unlikely to cede the capital without participation in a future government.

Previous efforts to end the Saudi war, which had has left 600,000 Yemeni civilians dead and injured since 2015, have failed.

A source familiar with the plan said, "The intention is to link security and political aspects starting with a cessation of fighting ... then to move toward a withdrawal of forces and the formation of a national unity government."

An Ansarullah official welcomed the UN plan, calling the ceasefire the first building block in the political process.

The official said the previous truces had failed, but "our optimism will be determined by how serious the other parties are of the UN role."

The plan, which has not been made public, is the latest effort to end the war, which has led to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Anwar Gargash, the UAE's minister of state for foreign affairs, signaled Abu Dhabi's desire to support Griffiths' efforts but a front man for the so-called Saudi coalition declined to comment on the draft document, which he said he had not seen.

Development Authority (KDA) in 2013.

The ATC-II judge pronounced her verdict after recording evidence of witnesses and concluding arguments from both sides.

The judge convicted Shahid, alias Japani, and sentenced him to life in prison on two counts. He was charged with murdering Abdul Jabbar Mangi, an officer of the KDA in Landhi, and injuring his driver, Naeem Ahmed, at Korangi No 2 bus stop on Sept 27, 2013.

According to the prosecution, Mr Mangi along his driver was heading towards Defence Housing Authority from Korangi when two armed motorcyclists intercepted his car and opened fire on it. [AnNahar] A Saudi court has sentenced four people to death for links to regional rival Iran, alleging that they were plotting the liquidation of "prominent figures", state media said Thursday.

"The criminal court has sentenced four forces of Evil to death for forming a cell for Iran," the state-owned al-Ekhbariya TV reported.

"The forces of Evil were trained in camps in Iran" and "planned to assassinate prominent figures," al-Ekhbariya said, without giving any more details on those convicted.

Two coppers were also injured in the incident, which took place around 1:30am.

a patrol team conducted a raid in the Bhadreshwari area."

"Sensing police presence, a gang of drug peddlers started shooting, forcing law enforcement to retaliate. Shamim was killed on the spot in the ensuing shootout."

Police later sent the body to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital morgue.

The OC said 300 pieces of Yaba tablets were seized from the scene. Shamim was accused in a number of cases in the Ranisankail cop shoppe.

In Dinajpur, a suspected drug peddler was killed in a "shootout" between two groups of drug pushers in the Kharipara area of Uthrail Union in the early hours of Friday.

Dinajpur Kotwali cop shoppe Officer-in-Charge (OC) told the Dhaka Tribune: "On a tip off, police visited the scene of a shootout that occurred between two groups of drug pushers. We found one well perforated carcass on the scene."

Police also seized 100 bottles of the banned drug Phensedyl, one locally made gun, and a heavy cleaver.

The suspect’s body has been sent to the Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital Morgue. The identity of the dear departed could not be confirmed at the filing of this report.

In Rangpur, a suspected drug pusher by the name of Abu Musa, 27, has been killed in a "shootout" with police in the Kukrul area of the city, early Friday morning.

Rangpur Additional Superintendent of Police, Saiful Islam, confirmed the matter to the correspondent.

According to police sources, law enforcement conducted a drive in the Kukrul area, on a tip off that a gang of drug peddlers had gathered there.

As a police team reached the spot, the suspected drug pushers started shooting at them, triggering a reported shootout. Abu Musa, alias Bishkhali, died in the incident.

Police found 102 Yaba tablets, 47 bottles of Phensedyl, and a pistol at the scene.

The dear departed was the son of Abdul Kuddus, and he hailed from the Hunumantola area of Rangpur. He was accused in 11 cases, said the police.

Over 2,000 suspects given jail terms in Turkey coup trials
[DAWN] Ottoman Turkish courts have so far handed jail terms to more than 2,000 suspects over the failed 2016 coup aimed at unseating President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
, a government minister said on Thursday.

"Out of 287 court cases, 171 have been decided: 2,140 defendants have been given jail terms and 1,478 of them have been acquitted," Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul told state news agency Anadolu.

"I guess the remaining cases will be finalised by the end of 2018," he said.

The government accuses US-based Moslem preacher Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
of orchestrating the failed putsch but Gulen vehemently denies the claims.

Thousands of people including soldiers, coppers and judges have been placed in durance vile
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
since then in a crackdown on the Gulen movement which The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has dubbed the "Fethullah Terrorist Organisation" or FETO. The trials are taking place in several cities throughout Turkey.

Tens of thousands of people have been suspended or sacked from the public sector including teachers, coppers and judges under decrees imposed under the state of emergency declared after the failed coup in July two years ago.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US delegation visits Syrian Kurdish town amid deal with Turkey
[IsraelTimes] Syrian Kurdish officials say a US delegation is visiting the strategic town of Manbij, days after a delicate US-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

deal that is expected to see an American-backed Kurdish militia pull out of the area.

The head of the Manbij Military Council, who goes by the name Mohammed Abu Adel, says the delegation assured him there will be no Ottoman Turkish troops inside Manbij.

Abu Adel says joint US-Ottoman Turkish patrols will only take place along already-delineated front lines between the strategic town and other Ottoman Turkish-controlled areas to the west. He says the local military council will remain in charge of the town and Washington is keeping them informed of details of the deal.

The commander of the anti-IS US coalition, Maj. General James Jarrard, and veteran Middle East diplomat William Roebuck are part of the delegation.

This Week in Guns, June 9th, 2018

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were mostly steady. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mostly higher. Prices for used rifles were higher.

For the fourth week running used AR-15 prices have averaged out to below $500. Unlike handguns, which show definite continuing strengths in pricing/value, the AR-15 shows very few signs of strength in price/value recovery.

These signs are amazing, especially in view of the efforts of anti Liberty people trying to suppress sales of new AR rifles. Concomitantly, AR ammunition shows zero signs of reaction to anti Second Amendment efforts. You'd think they'd get that one thing right.

US to Release American 'Enemy Combatant' Held in Iraq
[AnNahar] The US Justice Department announced Wednesday that an American alleged Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group combatant held in Iraq for over eight months would be released, potentially defusing a troubling detainee test case for the Trump administration.

After being blocked by a Washington court from handing over the dual US-Saudi citizen, identified only as "John Doe" to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the Justice Department said in a filing that it had decided to release the man in Syria, where he was originally taken prisoner.

But his legal representative, the American Civil Liberties Union, immediately said it would fight the release into war-torn Syria, which it called a "death warrant" for the man.

The release decision was an unexpected reversal after the government spent the months since the man was captured in September defending its power to hold him indefinitely, on grounds that he had been a "enemy combatant" in Syria, fighting for the Islamic State group (IS).

That made him the first American alleged member of IS caught on the battlefield, and the first known foreign member of a jihadist group taken into custody by the Trump administration.

Yet "John Doe" was never charged, and he said he was not involved with IS when he was detained in Syria.

The case raised questions about whether the Trump administration would introduce his case into the US justice system, hand him over to Saudi Arabia, or, as Trump had in the past threatened, send him to the Guantanamo military prison in Cuba.

Allowed to represent him, the ACLU successfully fought the decision two months ago to transfer him to another country -- understood to be Saudi Arabia -- without his agreement.

The court agreed with the ACLU's argument that that would violate the US constitutional rights of the man, who was born in the United States to a Saudi family.

In the filing Wednesday, the Justice Department said the US military had offered "John Doe" the choice of being released in an unnamed town in Syria or outside a Syrian camp for internally displaced persons.

But the man "did not identify a preference between the two locations and would not agree to the release" as proposed to him, the filing said.

"Accordingly, out of an abundance of caution, the department is filing this notice of its intent to release petitioner (Doe) in the town specified," it said.

The release would take place after a 72 hour waiting period ordered by the court.

In a statement, ACLU lawyer Jonathan Hafetz called the move "a disgraceful way to treat an American citizen."

"The government has effectively admitted that it has no reason to continue detaining our client and that he does not pose a threat. But, instead of offering a safe release, they want to dump an American citizen onto the side of the road in a war-torn country without any assurances of protection and no identification."

"What the government is offering our client is no release -- it's a death warrant."

Eight Years On, Syria Army Conscripts Pack Bags for Home
[AnNahar] After eight years of military service, Syrian conscript Sonel Ali swapped his drab army uniform for bright civilian clothes last week as he packed his things one last time.

Ali was among thousands of young men who was enlisted in 2010, a year before the brutal repression of anti-government protests in Syria spiralled into one of the worst conflicts of the century.

He thought he was joining the military for a maximum of two years, but instead ended up serving in Syria's war until now.

Prominent Ugandan MP shot dead
[PUNCHNG] Ibrahim Abiriga, a leading politician from Uganda’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, was rubbed out Friday along with his bodyguard, police said.

Abiriga, known for wearing all-yellow suits and driving around in a yellow VW Beetle ‐ the colour of President Yoweri Museveni
...President-for-Life of Uganda. He assumed office in 1985. His primary virtue is being prefereable to both his predecessors, Idi Amin and Milton Obote...
’s NRM party ‐ was "assassinated this evening near his home in Kawanda," north of the capital, Kampala, by "unknown assailants," police chief Okoth Ochola tweeted.

Abiriga, 62, was MP for the Arua municipality in the north west of the country. He was a also a key supporter of a reform bill adopted last December to scrap the presidential age limit of 75 years.

The move was seen as a bid to pave the way for Museveni ‐ who has been president since 1986 and is currently 73 ‐ to seek a sixth term in power.

As part of the mooted reform, the number of terms a president can serve would be limited to just two. But that part of the reform would only come into effect after the next election, meaning Museveni could run for two more terms.

Museveni responded to the news of Abiriga’s murder on Twitter, saying: "I have received news about the senseless killing of Arua Municipality MP, Hon Ibrahim Abiriga, and his bodyguard on the city’s outskirts.

"I have tasked security agencies to expeditiously find these killers and the nation will be updated soon. May Hon Abiriga’s soul rest in peace."

Museveni, a veteran former rebel leader who seized power in 1986, ending years of brutal and murderous rule under Idi Amin and Milton Obote, once said leaders who "overstayed" in power were the root of Africa’s problems.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
he successfully changed the constitution in 2005 abolishing a two-term limit, and has since gone back and forth on the age requirement.

Iran says OPEC won't follow US instructions on oil output hike
[PRESSTV] Iran has lashed out at the United States for asking Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to pump more oil to cover a drop in Iranian exports, saying the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) would dismiss the appeal.

"It’s crazy and astonishing to see instruction coming from Washington to Saudi to act and replace a shortfall of Iran’s export due to their illegal sanctions on Iran and Venezuela," Iran’s OPEC governor, Hossein Kazempour Ardebili, told Rooters on Friday.

Kazempour Ardebili made the comments in response to reports that the US government had quietly asked Saudi Arabia and some other OPEC producers to increase oil production by about one million barrels a day.

The rare request came after US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
publicly complained about OPEC policy and rising oil prices on Twitter. It also follows Washington’s decision to re-impose sanctions on Iran’s crude exports that had previously displaced about one million barrels a day, or just over one percent of global production.

The Iranian OPEC official said the organization would pay no heed to the US request and emphasized that Washington's sanctions on Iran and Venezuela would lead to a jump in oil prices, as they did during a previous round of US sanctions against Iran.

"No one in OPEC will act against two of its founder members. The US tried it last time against Iran, but oil prices got to $140 a barrel," he said.

He added that the OPEC members would unite in opposition to the US call, saying, "OPEC will not accept such a humiliation. How arrogant and ignorant one could be (to) underestimate the history of 60 years' cooperation among competitors."

Iran Admits To Facilitating 9/11 Terror Attacks
[Free Beacon Via Hot Air] Iranian officials, in a first, have admitted to facilitating the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. by secretly aiding the free travel of al Qaeda operatives who eventually went on to fly commercial airliners into the Twin Towers in New York City, according to new remarks from a senior Iranian official.

Mohammad-Javad Larijani, an international affairs assistant in the Iran's judiciary, disclosed in Farsi-language remarks broadcast on Iran's state-controlled television that Iranian intelligence officials secretly helped provide the al Qaeda attackers with passage and gave them refuge in the Islamic Republic, according to an English translation published by Al Arabiya.

"Our government agreed not to stamp the passports of some of them because they were on transit flights for two hours, and they were resuming their flights without having their passports stamped. However their movements were under the complete supervision of the Iranian intelligence," Larijani was quoted as saying.

The remarks represent the first time senior Iranian officials have publicly admitted to aiding al Qaeda and playing a direct role in facilitating the 9/11 attacks.
This HAD TO BE KNOWN to Obama's traitorous Legacy Project members
The U.S. government has long accused Iran of playing a role in the attacks and even fined the Islamic Republic billions as a result. The U.S. 9/11 Commission assembled to investigate the attacks concluded that Iran played a role in facilitating the al Qaeda terrorists.

Larijani admitted that Iranian officials did not stamp the passports of the al Qaeda militants in order to obfuscate their movements and prevent detection by foreign governments. Al Qaeda operative also were given safe refuge in Iran.

"The Americans took this as evidence of Iran's cooperation with al-Qaeda and viewed the passage of an airplane through Iran's airspace, which had one of the pilots who carried out the attacks and a Hezbollah military leader sitting [next to] him on board, as evidence of direct cooperation with al-Qaeda through the Lebanese Hezbollah," Larijani was quoted as saying in the May 30 interview, which is gaining traction on social media.

The U.S. government has not formally commented on the interview, but did highlight it in an official tweet from the State Department’s Arabic-only Twitter page.

More US Staffers Evacuated from China over Mystery Illness
[AnNahar] The US State Department has evacuated more staff from China over fears they may have been hit by a mysterious illness that has struck other colleagues in the Asian country and Cuba.

The department said Wednesday that "a number of individuals" were sent to the United States for further evaluation following initial medical screenings.

A medical team was sent to the southern city of Guangzhou after an American employee who had experienced strange sounds was diagnosed with brain trauma last month, reviving fears that US rival has developed some kind of acoustic or microwave device.

US officials have said that the employee's symptoms were consistent with the ailments that US diplomats experienced in Cuba last year.

After the first incident in Guangzhou, medical tests were offered to US babus government employees and family members who requested them, the State Department said.

"The medical screenings are ongoing for any personnel who have noted concerning symptoms or wanted baseline screening," State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement.

"US medical professionals will continue to conduct full evaluations to determine the cause of the reported symptoms and whether the findings are consistent with those noted in previously affected government personnel or possibly completely unrelated."

Last year, 24 US diplomats and their family members in Cuba fell victim to mysterious "attacks" that left them with injuries resembling brain trauma. Ten Canadian diplomats and their relatives also suffered a strange illness.

Washington has said in the past that Cuban authorities must take responsibility for the safety of US diplomats on their soil, but the Havana government denies any knowledge of an attack.

The US has set up a task force to oversee the response to the mystery ailments among diplomats in China and Cuba, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Tuesday.

The State Department has warned that US diplomats should alert their mission's medical staff "if they note new onset of symptoms that may have begun in association with experiencing unidentified auditory sensations."

"Reported symptoms have included dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, fatigue, cognitive issues, visual problems, ear complaints and hearing loss, and difficulty sleeping," the statement said.

The cases come at a sensitive time in relations between the United States and China, with the two nations mired in negotiations aimed at prevening a trade war and exchanging heated rhetoric over Beijing's claims to the South China Sea.

The Chinese foreign ministry said Thursday that its investigation into the first case has not yielded any clues as to the cause of the incident.

"As for the latest incident, my understanding is that the US side hasn't had any formal communication with the Chinese side about it," foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press briefing.

Hua said Beijing learned about the latest cases through a report in The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

"I think that if there is any problem, the US can communicate with the Chinese side, and China will continue to adopt a responsible attitude and conduct a serious investigation," she said.

jihadist group, a local leader said Friday.

The attack occurred in the village of Mangave Foya, said Abdoulaye Yerima Bakari, the head of the Dogba administrative region.

"They attacked the home of a district chief, whom they shot, as well as two other people" who were in the building, he said.

When the neighbours came out to investigate the gunfire, the assailants opened fire, killing three of them, he said.

A local self-defence group and the security forces, joined by some villagers, gave chase, killing five attackers and arresting three others, he added.

Afghanistan
Afghan govt to observe Eid ceasefire in fight with Taliban
[DAWN] Afghanistan announced on Thursday an apparently unilateral ceasefire with the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
for Eid, though operations against other groups including the Death Eater Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group will continue.

The week-long ceasefire, which was backed by the US and would bring some welcome relief to war-weary civilians, will last "from the 27th of Ramazan until the fifth day of Eidul Fitr", President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
tweeted from an official account, indicating it could run from June 12-19.

It was not immediately clear if the Taliban would agree to the ceasefire, the first during Eid since the US invasion in 2001.

"We are checking with our officials regarding the ceasefire announcement," Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid said.

The surprise declaration comes on the heels of a fatwa issued by Afghanistan’s top holy mans branding suicide kabooms "haram", or forbidden, and after the Pentagon announced that senior Taliban officials had been negotiating with Afghan authorities on a possible ceasefire.

Fox News star Charles Krauthammer reveals he has weeks to live
Charles Krauthammer, the beloved and brilliant Fox News Channel personality who gave up a pioneering career in psychiatry to become a Pulitzer Prize-winning political analyst, on Friday revealed the heartbreaking news that he is in the final stages of a losing battle with cancer.

The 68-year-old's incisive takes on politics of the day have been missing from Fox News Channel's "Special Report" for nearly a year as he battled an abdominal tumor and subsequent complications, but colleagues and viewers alike had held out hope that he would return to the evening show he helped establish as must-viewing. But in an eloquent, yet unblinking letter to co-workers, friends and Fox News Channel viewers, Krauthammer disclosed that he has just weeks to live.

"I have been uncharacteristically silent these past ten months," the letter began. "I had thought that silence would soon be coming to an end, but I'm afraid I must tell you now that fate has decided on a different course for me."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Lava flows at Guatemala volcano prompt fresh evacuations
[Dhaka Tribune] Dangerous flows of lava, ash and toxic gases poured down several canyons below the crater of Guatemala's Fuego volcano on Friday, prompting a new round of evacuations of rescue workers and nearby villages.

At least 109 people have already died in a series of eruptions that began with a massive blast on Sunday and since then have showered ash over a vast area, spewing deadly, fast-moving pyroclastic flows.

In two of the canyons where flows have accumulated, columns of ash rose as high as 19,700 feet (6,000 meters), according to a Friday morning statement from Guatemala's volcanic institute.

"The (flows) carry hot vapor, including fine particles similar to cement, two- to three-meter diameter rocks and tree trunks dragged out by the current," the statement added.

The flows sparked panic among rescue workers still in the area, as well as volunteers and police.

Search and rescue efforts were formally suspended on Thursday due to hazardous conditions, though authorities said they could resume if the situation improves.

Israeli forces kill 3 Palestinians during protests near Gaza border fence
[DAWN] At least three Paleostinians, including a 15-year-old, were killed by Israeli fire on the Gazoo border on Friday, the territory's health ministry said.

Israeli troops fired live rounds and tear gas as thousands of Paleostinians protested near the Gazoo border fence on Friday, with some demonstrators burning tires, throwing stones and flying blazing kites. At least 413 Paleostinians were maimed, including 80 by live fire, Gazoo health officials said.

Besides, seven of the maimed were at death's door, the Health Ministry said, in the latest in a series of mass protests to call attention to a decade-old blockade of Gazoo by Israel and Egypt.

Robert De Niro Tells High Schoolers Trump Spreading ‘Bullsh*t'
Actor Robert De Niro used a recent high school awards ceremony to warn students that President Donald Trump is "spreading bullshit."

"The one characteristic that comes through all of your work that I read, and that is the same quality of everything that Jimmy Breslin wrote, is the truth," De Niro said this week during an awards ceremony for student recipients of the Rosemary Breslin ’American Writer Award’ in New York.

"Our country is led by a president who believes he can make up his own truth. And we have a word for that ‐ bullshit," he continued. "So what about the truth? What does the truth even mean today? I mean, if you’re Donald Trump it doesn’t mean anything."

According to Page Six, De Niro’s comments were received with a loud round of applause.

#7  warn students that President Donald Trump is "spreading bullshit."

A compelling argument, and so eloquently reasoned. But more convincing if it didn't come from someone whose main talent seems to be playing dress-up and pretending to be someone else.

Dhimmitude in action.
[IsraelTimes] The Jewish community of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
hosted an iftar dinner marking the end of the day’s Ramadan fast in northwestern Turkey.

About 1,100 people attended the dinner, the Daily Sabah reported. The dinner sponsored by members of the Jewish community of Turkey and the Chief Rabbi Foundation was held Monday night in the Edirne province near the landmark Selimiye Mosque, according to the report.

Edirne Governor Gunay Özdemir called the dinner an example of how people from different faiths can live together in peace.

It is the fourth year that a Jewish-sponsored interfaith iftar dinner has taken place in the province.

Address Boko Haram as terrorist, not Islamic sect, OIC tasks media, civil societies
[NEWTELEGRAPHONLINE] The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has tasked the media in Nigeria and abroad to desist from addressing Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
snuffies as Islamic sect.

The OIC, which said this in a document, insisted that the members of the sect should rather be addressed as criminals because they "are anti- Islam."

Quoting the Secretary General of the group, Eyad Madani, the document read: "What they (Boko Haram) do is criminal act; it has absolutely nothing to do with Islam."

The IOC scribe said: "The OIC has issued statements that ... these people are outlaws. "What they do is criminal act, it has absolutely nothing to do with Islam, Islamic teachings, the religion of Islam, the history, the culture, the civilization of Islam and we should identify them for what they are: as a terrorist group." Mr. Madani had earlier said in Abuja that the OIC is solidly behind Nigeria in its fight against Death Eaters.

New BlackBerry phone aims to revive faded brand
[DAWN] There’s a new BlackBerry smartphone, the latest effort to revive the once-dominant brand.

The BlackBerry Key2 was unveiled on Thursday in New York by TCL Communication, the Chinese manufacturer which took over the rights to the smartphone brand from the Canadian tech firm in 2016.

The new device, which includes a physical keyboard under a 4.5 inch screen and runs the Android operating system updates the first BlackBerry Key released last year.

It will be sold this month starting at $649 or 649 euros, according to the company.

"Although there are many different smartphones for consumers to choose from today, most tend to offer very similar experiences without much distinction from one to the next," said Alain Lejeune, head of TCL’s BlackBerry Mobile division.

"With the introduction of BlackBerry Key2, we’ve created a distinct smartphone that captures all the traits that have made BlackBerry smartphones iconic, while introducing new innovations and experiences that not only make this one of the best devices for security and privacy, but also the most advanced BlackBerry smartphone ever."

According to Rangers’ spokesperson, the paramilitary force, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid in Ilyas Goth located in the 51-C area of Korangi to arrest some ’criminals’, including Shafiq alias Kala.

The Rangers managed to arrest Shafiq Kala and his accomplices, Aleemuddin and Shahbaz alias Osama.
