NY stretch limousine crash leaves 18 in limo and two bystanders dead
[Star Tribune] SCHOHARIE, N.Y. ‐ A relaxed weekend afternoon turned into chaos at an upstate New York spot popular with tourists taking in the fall foliage when a crash involving a limousine left 20 people dead, officials said Sunday.

A person with knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press that 18 of the victims in Saturday afternoon's crash at the Apple Barrel Country Store were in the limo and two were bystanders. The person was not authorized to discuss the preliminary information publicly and spoke Sunday on the condition of anonymity.

Local officials told the Times Union of Albany that a limo speeding down a hill hit bystanders at the store in Schoharie, about 170 miles (270 kilometers) north of New York City.

The crash "sounded like an explosion," said Linda Riley, of nearby Schenectady, who was on a shopping trip with her sisters and had been in their parked car at the time at the store, which sits near a T-junction of two New York state highways.

When she got out of her vehicle, she saw a body on the ground and broken tree branches everywhere, she said. People started screaming.

State police confirmed the death toll and said the crash involved two vehicles.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Two murdered in Samaria terror attack
[IsraelNationalNews] 2 people were murdered and another person wounded Sunday morning in a terror attack in the Barkan Industrial Park in Samaria.

Initial details found that the shooter, apparently a 23 year old PA resident of the village of Shuweika near Tulkarem who worked at a factory at the park, entered the factory with a rifle, ascended to one of the upper floors and began shooting. A man and woman in their 30s were murdered, while a 54 year old woman was seriously wounded and evacuated to Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikvah by Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical responders.

The hospital later announced that the condition of the evacuated woman, who suffered from a stomach wound, was classified as moderate and that her life was not in danger. She was hospitalized for further treatment.

The shooter has escaped. Security forces are searching the area for the suspect.
Peace, a gift that keeps giving

JPost - they've identified him
This is the first terror attack in the park — which employs both Israelis and Palestinians — and is considered to be an oasis of coexistence where members of both groups can come together.

The Palestinian suspect, identified in Israeli media as 23-year-old Ashraf Abu Shaham from the village of Shweika near the West Bank city of Tulkarem, had no previous security-related history. Abu Shaham had a permit to work at the Barkan park, where he was employed at a factory for the past seven months as an electrician, though he had not shown up work for the past few weeks.

The shooter entered a factory building and shot at two women and one man before fleeing. He can be seen in security footage running away from the scene with a rifle in his hand.

According to Walla! News, Abu Shaham bound the victims before shooting them at close range.

Holder questions legitimacy of Supreme Court after Kav confirmation (opens to video)
[FOX] Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder reacted to the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court Saturday by questioning the legitimacy of the court and arguing that it needed to regain the nation's trust.

Holder -- who served as the nation’s top lawyer under former President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2015 -- said the treatment of former Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland by Senate Republicans, as well as Kavanaugh’s confirmation, meant the legitimacy of the court was in question.

"With the confirmation of Kavanaugh and the process which led to it, (and the treatment of Merrick Garland), the legitimacy of the Supreme Court can justifiably be questioned," he tweeted. "The Court must now prove - through its work - that it is worthy of the nation’s trust."

Warren Champions Indian Gaming Bill Tied to Special Interests
[Free Beacon] Democratic senator Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) is backing legislation that would heavily benefit a foreign gambling conglomerate and a string of special interests, despite pledging to end public corruption in Washington.

Warren, a potential 2020 presidential contender, introduced the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Reservation Reaffirmation Act in March of this year along with the rest of the Massachusetts congressional delegation. The act aims to circumvent legal obstacles currently thwarting the Mashpee Wampanoag's attempts to establish a casino.

The senator, who has been dogged by controversy surrounding her claims of Native American heritage, has embraced Mashpee Wampanoag's cause as her own. The embrace has been especially surprising considering Warren, until recently, was hostile to legalized gambling.

As a candidate for the Senate in 2011, Warren strongly opposed successful efforts to expand casino-style gambling in Massachusetts. In 2014, she backed an unsuccessful ballot initiative to repeal the expansion on economic grounds.

"It's a tough call here. People need jobs, but gambling can be a real problem economically for a lot of people," Warren told the Boston Herald. "I didn't support gambling the first time around and I don't expect to support it [now]."

Earlier this year, however, Warren's tone shifted. Before the National Congress of American Indians, the senator promised the tribal leaders in attendance she would fight against "our country's mistreatment of your communities." Shortly after making that promise, Warren sponsored the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Reservation Reaffirmation Act.

‘Kill Kavanaugh' Tops Twitter Search and Hashtag Suggestions
[Breitbart] Typing "kill" into Twitter’s search function currently returns a shocking result at the top of its search suggestions: "#KillKavanaugh." It’s also currently the third autocompleted suggestion in searches for "ki" and the fourth suggestion in searches for "k" as of this writing.

That’s right ‐ by typing a single letter into search, Twitter is suggesting that its users might be interested in a hashtag about the murder of a federal judge and SCOTUS nominee.

The search suggestion was spotted by Instapundit earlier today and has been confirmed by Breitbart News.

Fifth Column
Cory Booker Accused of Mismanaging $100 Million Zuckerberg School Donation
[USNEWS] NEWARK MAYOR AND U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker is accused of mismanaging a large grant to his New Jersey city's school system in an ad released Thursday by a conservative political group. The charge is vigorously denied by Booker's staff.

"This laughable and deeply misleading ad denigrates the efforts of thousands of people who work hard every day to improve Newark's public schools," said Kevin Griffis, a spokesman for the Democratic mayor's Senate campaign, in an emailed statement to U.S. News.

The ad, released online by the American Commitment Action Fund, implies the $100 million donated by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to the school system hasn't made anything better for students.

The enormous grant was announced on Oprah Winfrey's TV show in September 2010. Winfrey is hosting a fundraiser for Booker's Senate campaign Thursday evening in Jersey City – with tickets starting at $1,000, according to the Sunlight Foundation.

[ALSO: Booker Hosts 'Hipster' D.C. Fundraiser]

Debate surrounding the donation isn't new. The state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit in 2011 seeking emails between Facebook representatives and Newark officials about the funds.

A judge ordered the emails be released in December. "[Zuckerberg's] money is not going in to classrooms," Booker aide Sharon Macklin said in one of the messages, The Wall Street Journal reported.

"A mayoral adviser outlined a rough plan to spend $315,000 on efforts such as polling, focus groups, mailing and consultants," the Journal reported, citing the emails. "The [Foundation for Newark's Future] has spent at least $2 million on such efforts since."

Around $50 million of the donation reportedly went to a new teachers contract - adopted in November 2012 - that featured merit-based pay increases, and additional funds are reportedly going to open new charter schools.

[READ: Fur Flies Between Booker, Animal Shelter]

Booker's campaign points to the teachers contract as one highly significant and positive change for students.

"The giving Mayor Booker has attracted is making a difference in the lives of Newark's children, and the evidence is everywhere," Griffis wrote. "From funding in the breakthrough teacher's contract that rewards great teaching to longer school days to a 61 percent increase in pre-schoolers in district classrooms to the launch of an innovation fund that supports teachers who have new ideas for enriching classroom learning."

A voicemail left with the group behind the ad was not immediately returned. The group's website says it is "committed to defeating big government liberals and electing free-market conservatives" and that targeting Booker is its first project.

Departacus aka Cory Booker: The WaPo Is A "Left-Leaning Newspaper"
[Hot Air] It seems as if the battle over Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation is getting under everyone’s skin and, in some cases, putting them off their game. This may be particularly true of New Jersey Senator (and frequently mentioned presidential hopeful) Cory Booker. He was on Don Lemon’s show on CNN on Thursday, expressing his opposition to Kavanaugh, which is nothing new or surprising. But in order to make his case and prove how opposing the judge’s confirmation was a mainstream idea, he decided to cite the editorial board of the Washington Post. (The WaPo formally opposed Kavanaugh’s confirmation.) The problem is that Booker appeared to be swept up in the moment and spoke a bit more truth than he probably intended.

I suppose we should applaud Booker for his moment of honesty, but his advisers have probably had a word with him about this already. Um, Senator? You’re not supposed to say that out loud...

Pence Tells Security Detail ‘Lets Do It' as He Faces Anti-Kavanaugh Protesters
[Breitbart] Vice President Mike Pence decided to face his foes head on, refusing to exit the Capitol building through a side entrance as protesters swarmed the area following the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Pence and his security detail had been exiting toward the front steps of the Senate when he appeared to stop for a second as the crowd stationed in the plaza outside the Capitol chanted "Shame! Shame! Shame!"

Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Jim Morehand reportedly told Pence he could exit through a back entrance if he wanted to escape the protesters. As Pence’s security detail told him about the updated exit plan, the vice president stopped and told his handlers, "Let’s do it."

The doors opened to the mob of protesters while Pence walked toward his motorcade, waving to the crowd on the way down the steps. Many of the protesters wore black, carried signs with profane language, and disparaged Kavanaugh and President Trump while the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh.

Weird That Someone Whose Career Wasn't In Politics Can Have Better Instincts Than The Politicians:
[Instapundit] Again and again, President Trump was instructed not to do it. A cadre of advisers, confidants and lawmakers all urged him ‐ implored him, really ‐ not to personally attack the women who had accused Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

So he did it anyway.

Addressing thousands at a boisterous rally in Mississippi, Trump relied on his own visceral sense of the moment and mocked Christine Blasey Ford for gaps in her memory, directly impugning the accuser’s credibility.

Establishment Republicans initially reacted with horror. But Trump’s 36-second off-script jeremiad proved a key turning point toward victory for the polarizing nominee, White House officials and Kavanaugh allies said, turbocharging momentum behind Kavanaugh just as his fate appeared most in doubt. . . .

"How did you get home? ’I don’t remember,’ " Trump said, reenacting Ford’s hearing. "How did you get there? ’I don’t remember.’ Where is the place? ’I don’t remember.’ How many years ago was it? ’I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.’ "

The riff lasted less than a minute, but had lasting ramifications. The senators whose votes Kavanaugh was wooing said they were aghast at the president’s rally-stage behavior. But Kavanaugh allies saw a clear benefit: An argument by the president that bucked up Kavanaugh, discredited Ford and became a clarion call for conservatives.

More than two dozen Trump supporters interviewed at the president’s campaign rally Thursday in Minnesota said they wish he had not gone after Ford, fretting that doing so was not presidential. Yet many also acknowledged the president had simply spoken aloud what many of them thought privately.

Everybody knew her story was bunk, but ‐ since she was a white, upper-class, professional, liberal woman ‐ everyone said she was "credible." But she wasn’t, and only Trump was willing to say it. Once he did, well. . . .

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Facing 50 years breaking rocks! Doxing at work!
[Washington Examiner] Staffer who 'doxed' GOP senators faces nearly 50 years in federal prison.

The former Democratic congressional staffer who posted personal information about Republican senators online faces nearly 50 years in prison.

Jackson Cosko, a 27-year-old Washington, D.C., resident, was arrested Wednesday by U.S. Capitol Police when he was caught sneaking into the offices of Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., after 10 p.m. Tuesday and using an aide’s computer and log-in.

He was charged with five federal offenses: making public restricted personal information, making threats in interstate commerce, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, and witness tampering.

The criminal complaint against him also charges him with second-degree burglary and unlawful entry, which are both criminal offenses in D.C.

Cosko appeared Thursday afternoon before Magistrate Judge Deborah Robinson in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, who ordered him detained pending a Tuesday hearing.

From August until his arrest, Cosko worked as an unpaid fellow with the office of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, which said it ended his fellowship and is cooperating in the investigation.

Prior to that, he worked for roughly 17 months as an aide to Hassan and before that was employed by former Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. According to an affidavit, five U.S. senators’ restricted personal information was posted on Wikipedia.com by Cosko.

The investigation began on Sept. 27 when it was found the Wikipedia pages of three U.S. senators had been edited to include restricted personal information without their knowledge or permission — information that included home addresses and personal telephone numbers.

Three edits took place nearly in parallel with the high-stakes Senate hearings on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Then, on Oct. 2, according to the affidavit, similar information was posted on the Wikipedia pages of two additional senators.

The senators are not named in the court documents, but the pages of Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch, both of Utah, appeared to be edited during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Kavanaugh.

Indian Muslim girl tied to tree, flogged ‘for falling in love with Hindu boy’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Moslem girl was tied to a tree and flogged mercilessly by a group of villagers in India’s Bihar state earlier this week for eloping with a Hindu boy.

The maiden of tender years, daughter of Mohammad Farid Ansari from southern Bihar’s Nawada district, had fallen in love with Rupesh Kumar, son of Arjun Rajvanshi, while both were studying in a local government school.

Reports said when the girl’s parents came to know about these affairs, they stopped her going to school and also warned against meeting the youth from other religion but she continued meeting the boy.

On September 30, she finally eloped with her boyfriend, much against the wishes of her family. After three days of extensive searches, she was recovered from a neighbouring village on Thursday although the boy expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.

Subsequently, her family members brought the girl along to their Jogia-Maran village which was soon followed by a hurried-convened village court. The court found the matter too serious and ordered for thrashing the girl in public, witnesses said.

Soon the girl was tied to a tree and badly thrashed by local villagers until she fell unconscious. She remained tied for about five hours before the local police could reach the spot and rescued her.

"I love the boy and will marry him come what may. I am ready for any punishment," she told the media.

She said she is an adult and can well decide about her future. "I don’t believe in castes or religions. I am 19-year-old and can well decide whom I should marry, whom I should not," she asserted.

The police are investigating the case. "We have started the paperwork but haven't done much else in this regard and raids are on to arrest the accused persons," local sub-divisional police officer Sanjay Kumar said on Saturday.

The girl’s father said he wanted to marry his daughter to a suitable boy from their own community but she slipped out of the home with some excuses when there was no power at night and bravely ran away.

’Love’ is still a taboo in conservative Bihar, and quite many who have defied the existing social order have paid with their lives, banished from their villages, imposed heavy fine or served other crude punishment.

Saudi looting of Yemeni oil resources blatant violation of international law: Oil ministry
[PRESSTV] Yemen’s Oil and Mineral Ministry has denounced the looting of the country’s oil resources by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, saying the move is a blatant violation of international law.

The ministry said in a statement on Saturday that Saudi Arabia transports Yemeni oil to the Arabian Sea through a pipeline which extends from the Rub' al Khali desert to Hadhramaut and al-Mahrah provinces south of the country.

It said that Riyadh’s move to plunder Yemen’s wealth is done with the complicity of the country’s former Saudi-allied government.

Stating that Saudi Arabia's recent move has sparked protests by residents of al-Mahrah and other provinces, the statement called on the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
and the UN Security Council to counter Saudi aggression, occupation and looting of Yemeni resources through legal mechanisms.

Experts say the pipeline would allow the kingdom not to be constrained to the Strait of Hormuz or the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, both strategic choke points that affect its current oil shipping routes.

Houthi militias block unloading of 10 oil, commercial ships in Hodeidah
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Abdulraqib Fatah, Yemeni Minister of Local Administration, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, said that the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias were holding up to 10 oil and commercial vessels in the port of Hodeidah, and have prevented unloading of its cargo.

He added that some ships have been detained for nearly six months.

The ship, which is known as Distya Pushti, which arrived on September 28 with 10,955 tons of diesel and 9,025 tons of gasoline, and the ship RINA which arrived on October 3, carrying 5,700 tons of flour and sugar. The Houthi militias have prevented the two ships from unloading their cargo.

The vessels in Hodeidah include Sincero, which arrived on September 26, carrying 15,025 tons of diesel, the Carpe Diem-2, which arrived on September 30 with 19,350 tons of diesel, and the vessel called PVT Eagle, which arrived on October 3, carrying 7,022 tons of diesel and 1,4793 oil, as well as six other oil and commercial vessels, which have been held for varying periods over the past three months.

The Minister of Local Administration pointed out that this deliberate action by the Houthi militias, along with imposition of higher levies up to 60 percent on the oil products, have resulted in a supply crisis in oil derivatives and strengthened the black market that benefits pro-militia traders.

All these actions by the Houthis have resulted in burdening the population in those areas and led to increasing the humanitarian crisis in those provinces.

Fatah pointed out that these measures are part of the daily activities of the Houthi militias, from the detention and obstruction of oil and commercial vessels in the port, in an attempt to starve the people and multiply the crises of the citizens in those provinces.

The Yemeni Minister stressed that the humanitarian situation has attained catastrophic proportion due to the actions of Houthi militias.

The United Nations

humanitarian coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande, called for swift intervention and pressure on militias to release those ships and unload their cargo, and allow for safe passage and movement for oil, relief and commercial vessels in the port.

Turkey’s Erdogan threatens to fine ‘opportunists’ who raise prices
[ARABNEWS] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
will impose fines on "opportunists" who use volatility in the foreign exchange rate to raise prices, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday.

"We will not abandon our people to the mercy of opportunists," Erdogan told members of his ruling AK Party at a retreat on the outskirts of Ankara.

Erdogan urged Turks on Tuesday to report stores that had imposed unusual price hikes during the currency crisis, and said authorities would raid those businesses if necessary.

Erdogan added that Turkey is open to all forms of investments and support, but it has not asked any country for money, as the country grapples with a currency crisis that has sent the lira plunging in recent weeks.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel to reduce Gaza fishing zone by one-third
[Al Jazeera] Israel has announced further reductions of the Gazoo Strip's fishing zone, stating it was in response to the weekly protests near the fence east of the coastal enclave.

Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman's office said in a statement on Saturday that the fishing zone will be reduced from nine nautical miles to six nautical miles.

Lieberman cited Friday's "riots" at the fence dividing Gazoo and Israel as contributing to his decision, in addition to the midweek beach protests in which fishing boats and protesters gathered at the northwest end of the Gazoo Strip.

Three Paleostinians, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed in Friday's protest, bringing the total corpse count to at least 183 Paleostinians since the demonstrations began on March 30.

turbans were found in a region of Iraqi Kurdistan, a security official was quoted saying on Saturday.

Mawazin News quoted Colonel Faez al-Hajjaji, chief of Taakhi precinct police, saying that police ran into a mass grave containing the corpses of 54 people killed by Islamic State turbans during battles by Iraqi security against IS members to recapture Ouja and Tikrit in the nearby Salahuddin region.

According to Hajjaji, most of the corpses bore signs of gunshots, some beheaded, and belonged to both Iraqis and foreigners.

Iraqi authorities uncovered dozens of mass graves of civilians and security members killed by IS as they gradually regained control over territories occupied by the turbans since 2014.

Aleppo: Syrian Army strikes jihadis near Turkish post, Al Nusra squabbles with former friends, 32 kaboomed in Turkish-linked town

Syrian Army strikes jihadist rebels near Turkish observation post

[AlMasdar] (12:00 A.M.) Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a flurry of missiles and artillery shells towards the jihadist-held Rashiddeen 4 and 5 areas of southwest Aleppo after the latter attacked several neighborhoods in west Aleppo.

According to a military source in Aleppo city, the Syrian Army struck several jihadist sites near the Turkish military’s observation post in the southwestern countryside of the province.

The source added that the Syrian Army is still striking the Rashiddeen 4 and 5 area in retaliation for their attack on the Al-Hamdaniyah and New Aleppo districts.

The jihadist attack on the neighborhoods of west Aleppo tonight wounded at least a half dozen civilians, who are now seeking treatment for their injuries at a nearby hospital.

Jihadist civil war breaks out in west Aleppo as HTS seizing town from Zinki

[AlMasdar] (7:00 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels in west Aleppo are engaged in an all out war after Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
carried out a powerful attack against their former allies from Harakat Nouriddeen al-Zinki.

In a sudden move, HTS stormed Zinki’s positions inside the west Aleppo town of Mirznaz, resulting in the complete expulsion of their former ally from the area.

During the clashes, the military commander of the Atareb Martyrs Brigade, ‘Abdullah Ramah, was reportedly killed by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham before they took over the entire town.

Furthermore, HTS activists reported that more than ten Free Syrian Army

There are reports from west Aleppo now that indicate Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki has sent reinforcements to the area in order to storm Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions.

The explosion occurred amid renewed clashes between militant groups near a planned demilitarization zone.

Syria Rebels, Jihadists Clash near Planned Idlib Buffer
More on yesterday's story about Friday’s clash.
[AnNahar] Fighting erupted on Friday between Turkey-backed rebels and jihadist hardliners in northwest Syria, a monitor and a resident said, near a planned demilitarisation zone.

The buffer zone, agreed last month between rebel backer Ankara and government ally Moscow, is meant to separate regime fighters from the myriad rebel and jihadist forces of the Idlib region.

On Friday, just days away from the deadline to establish the zone, clashes erupted between rival rebels and jihadists.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said fighting first began between Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led by former Al-Qaeda fighters, and Nour al-Din Al-Zinki in the town of Kafr Halab.

HTS had reportedly been trying to arrest a local commander present in the town on the western edge of Aleppo province, near the administrative border with Idlib province.

"Zinki sent reinforcements to the area, and the clashes expanded to several areas and the National Liberation Front joined in," said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

The NLF is the main Turkey-backed rebel alliance in the Idlib region, but jihadist heavyweight HTS holds most of the province.

"The clashes are near where the buffer zone is supposed to be established and are the biggest since the deal was announced last month," said Abdel Rahman.

The Britain-based Observatory said HTS had taken two towns, including Kafr Halab. At least three civilians, one HTS member, and two NLF fighters were killed, the monitor said.

"We woke up at 4:00am to the sound of gunfire from an HTS convoy," a resident of Kafr Halab told AFP.

"They started hitting civilian homes, and a child was killed," said the resident, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Russia and Turkey agreed last month to set up a U-shaped demilitarisation zone ringing Idlib that would be free of both heavy weapons and jihadists.

The NLF has cautiously welcomed the deal but HTS has yet to endorse it. Many of the agreement's details, including where exactly the zone would fall, remain murky.

Erdogan orders ministers not to receive financial advice from US firm
[PRESSTV] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
has ordered his ministers not to receive any financial advice from the American consulting firm McKinsey, as his country is in an "economic war" with the United States.

The president told members of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Saturday that he called on the ministers that instead of receiving financial advice from McKinsey & Company, they should rely on domestic capabilities.

It was recently reported that Ankara was seeking advice from the New York-based global management consultancy firm to resolve economic hardships as inflation has recently been hiking with Ottoman Turkish national currency lira, losing almost 40 percent of its value against dollar since the start of this year.

The move has sparked harsh criticism from members of the opposition parties, who accused Ankara of handing over the country’s economic secrets to the firm.

Ottoman Turkish Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, who is also Erdogan’s son-in-law, however, said on Thursday that the government had decided to work with the private company, but McKinsey will have no executive powers. He also said that working with consultancy firms was totally normal.

During the Saturday meeting with the AK party, Erdogan also said that the country is not plagued with financial crisis and that this is "opportunists" who use volatility in the foreign exchange rate to raise prices.

'Extremely ill' Khaleda Zia admitted to Dhaka hospital
[Al Jazeera] Jailed Bangladesh opposition leader and former prime minister the loathesome Khaleda Zia
Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ...
has been admitted into a Dhaka hospital following a court order in response to her deteriorating health.

Zia, 73, was taken from the abandoned 19th-century prison where she is serving her sentence on corruption charges to a top medical university clinic in the heart of the capital on Saturday, according to an AFP news agency photographer at the scene.

"She has been admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital," director of the clinic Brigadier General Abdullah al-Harun told AFP.

Her transfer to the hospital came just days after the country's high court ordered immediate treatment for Zia after her lawyers argued the government was putting her health at risk by refusing her specialised care.

Facing further charges of graft at a hearing early last month, she said she was "extremely ill" and that her arm and leg were becoming paralysed.

Her lawyer Zainal Abedin told AFP this week that Zia would be able to choose her own doctors from outside the state-run hospital.

Attempt to smuggle cell phones into security prison via drone thwarted by police
[IsraelTimes] Two suspects have been taken for questioning and the unmanned aerial vehicle impounded; security services said to be investigating terror link to incident

Police announced Saturday that they prevented an attempt to smuggle cell phones into a security prison in the south of the country.

In a statement, they said that it was part of a planned operation when they spotted the drone in the skies above the facility.

A 56-year-old man was placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
after a police chase on foot, during which he was said to have tossed a number of phones he planned to fly into the prison. A 30-year-old woman was also arrested.

The two suspects, both residents of the central Israel town of Lod, were taken for questioning and the drone, phones and cash were impounded.

Channel 10 news reported that "written evidence with intelligence value" was also seized.

The network also says the incident took place at the Nafha Prison and that police were examining whether bandidos holy warriors were involved in the attempt.

Last year guards caught a 5-year-old boy smuggling cellphones and SIM cards to security prisoners at the Ketziot Prison in southern Israel, Hebrew media reported.

Last January police caught a man "red-handed" as he tried to smuggle cellphones and money to a prisoner serving a life sentence for national security crimes.

Basel Ghattas, a former MK, was nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
for smuggling cellphones to security prisoners while he was serving as a politician for the Joint (Arab) List party. Footage from a Prisons Service surveillance camera showed the Arab politician passing envelopes to prisoners at the Ketziot Prison in the south.

The Beersheba Magistrate’s Court accepted a plea bargain reached between state prosecutors and Ghattas, who was convicted of exploiting his position to sneak cellphones and notes to convicted Paleostinian terrorists.

Firefighters battle to control huge blaze said sparked by Gaza balloon
[IsraelTimes] Teams working to save the greenhouses at Moshav Ein Habesor; front man for rescue services says 7 blazes caused by incendiary balloons launched from the coastal enclave

Firefighters and security services fought to control a huge blaze at Moshav Ein Habesor in southern Israel Saturday evening, thought to have been ignited by an incendiary device launched from the Gazoo Strip.

Farmers, firefighters, and security officers worked together to try to stop the flames from reaching nearby greenhouses, the Ynet news site reported.

"A local resident saw a Molotov cocktail landing and within minutes the fire broke out, and we rushed to the site and tried to control the fire. But since this is a very dry area, the fire simply spread. Many people rushed to help, but it’s very dangerous," a witness told Ynet.

A front man for the Fire and Rescue Services said since the morning, firefighters worked to extinguish seven blazes near Israeli towns along the border caused by incendiary balloons launched from Gazoo.

The announcement follows on from the announcement last Tuesday (2 October) by Mustafa Gadur, commander of one of Tripoli’s main militias, the 8th Force, more commonly referred to as the Nawasi brigade, to hand in his written resignation as commander of the force guarding Tripoli port.
One of the Tripoli militias, the pro-Islamist Nawasi brigade has fought to support the interior ministry of the internationally recognized government in Tripoli, so this appears to be an internal move.

Cameroon set for Sunday vote as Paul Biya seeks seventh term
[Al Jazeera] Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
’s borders have been closed, security personnel deployed across regions as voters head to the polls on Sunday to elect their next president.

Incumbent Paul Biya, 85, is seeking re-election for a seventh term amid ongoing violence and tensions in the country's English-speaking southwest and northwest.

Biya faces an eleventh-hour attempt by the opposition parties to forge a unified front under Maurice Kamto, leader of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC).

Cameroon's electoral commission has long faced accusations of unfairly favouring Biya, who has been in power since 1982, making him one of Africa's longest-serving rulers.

The opposition has accused the government of plans to rig the election, alleging that polling cards have been forged and that voter registration has continued despite the process being officially closed.

Prominent think-tank, International Crisis Group (ICG), wants the concerns of the opposition addressed.

"In the absence of agreement on the rules of the game, opposition activists could contest results, possibly with violence. Fraud, including vote-buying, ballot boxes stuffing and the falsification of results, all of which are common in Cameroon, make such protests all the likelier," the group said in a statement.

Nkongho Felix Agbor, leader of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA), told Al Jazeera he is unhappy with the lack of unity among the opposition.

"The failure of the principal opposition leaders to form a winning coalition might just be the reason why President Biya will be re-elected," Agbor said.

Meanwhile,

local sources in Sanaa revealed that the Houthi militias tightened security measures and launched search campaigns to prevent citizens from walking towards Tahrir Square in the city’s center.

According to the sources, Houthi militias deployed their army on the streets and neighborhoods near Tahrir Square, along with military vehicles to patrol the capital.

The militia also placed security checkpoints to stop and search citizens, and tossed in the calaboose

The sources added that the militias directed its men to launch search campaigns on hotels and rest-stops in the capital, which resulted in the arrest of several young people who were not carrying their personal identifications.

The Houthi militias are fearful of activists’ ongoing protests on social media against the currency collapse and the drastic rise in prices.

At least 11 dead, wounded in coordinated explosions in Kabul
[KhaamaPress] At least eleven people were killed or maimed after coordinated kabooms targeted the security personnel in capital Kabul earlier today.

A front man for the Kabul Police Commandment Basir Mujahid confirmed the incident and said the kabooms took place in the vicinity of 16th police district of the city at around 7:30am local time.

Mujahid further added that the first kaboom took place due to an improvised bomb planted on a roadside targeting a police vehicle and leaving one police officer dead.

He said the second kaboom took place moments later when the security forces and civilians had gathered in the site of the incident.

According to Mujahid, the second kaboom also left a security official dead and nine others maimed, including six coppers and three civilians.

No individual or group including Talibs has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

ordered the boost in the number of advanced planes for Israel after Russia deployed four S-300 air defense systems to Syria following an incident in which a Russian plane was shot down, reported DEBKAfile, a military intelligence news site linked to Israel

Moscow blamed the downing of its Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft on Tel Aviv.

Russia’s military says Israel is fully responsible for downing of a plane in Syria.

Moscow said its data proved that an Israeli F-16 fighter jet had been trying to use the Russian aircraft as a shield when it was shot down by Syrian air defense forces.

Military analysts believe Russia’s S-300 delivery to Syria boosts security of its personnel and prevents potential further escalations.

US think tank claims continued activity at North Korea nuke site
[PRESSTV] US researchers say they have observed continued activity at a nuclear facility in North Korea which is accusing Washington of not implementing pledges made at a June summit of their leaders.

The researchers, who work for the Washington-based 38 North think tank, released on Friday satellite photos allegedly indicating continued activity at North Korea’s Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center.

The photos, they said, also showed an ongoing dredging of a river near a pump house, which draws cooling water for the site’s reactor.

The group said the photos, taken on September 24, showed minimal movements of vehicles and equipment in the area, but the purpose of their activity was unknown.

The researchers, however, said they believed the reactor at Yongbyon was not operating as there was no steam coming from the generator hall.

Largest rebel group begins withdrawing heavy weapons from Idlib buffer zone
[AlMasdar] The largest rebel group has begun withdrawing their heavy weapons from the Idlib buffer zone, local activists reported this evening.

According to the reports from the area, the the Ottoman Turkish-backed National Liberation Front (NLF) began removing their weapons from the front-lines in Idlib, as they observe the Idlib buffer zone agreement.

With the withdrawal of the National Liberation Front from the Idlib buffer zone, all that remains in the area are the hardline jihadists and some rogue rebel groups.

The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
and the Hurras al-Deen group have already refused to leave, so there will likely be a Ottoman Turkish military operation to forcibly remove them from the Idlib buffer zone.

Home Front: Politix
Grassley to investigate Feinstein, Hirono press leaks on Kavanaugh
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote a letter to Christine Blasey Ford's lawyers Thursday asking for records and descriptions of communications with the offices of Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Mazie Hirono "in light of recently uncovered information."

The new request, revealed in a late-Thursday press release sent hours after senators got a chance to read the FBI's report on its investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations levied against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, was coupled with Grassley's third attempt to ask Ford's attorneys Debra Katz, Michael Bromwich, and Lisa Banks to share evidence cited as part of their client's claim she was sexually assaulted by the judge when they were teenagers.

"I urge you once again, now for the third time in writing, to turn over the therapy notes, polygraph materials, and communications with The Washington Post that Dr. Ford has relied upon as evidence," Grassley wrote at the end of his letter.

Some of those notes were given to the Washington Post and mentioned in the report last month in which Ford came forward as Kavanaugh's first accuser. Ford's lawyer refused the chairman's request, saying in a letter Wednesday that they would only turn over her therapist's notes and other documents to the FBI if she was interviewed by FBI investigators. Ford, however, was not interviewed, and the FBI completed it's report this week. After speaking to 10 people, the FBI found "no corroboration of the allegations" made by two of Kavanaugh's accusers, including Ford and Deborah Ramirez, according to an executive summary.

"In addition to the evidence I requested in my October 2 letter," Grassley continued in his letter, "in light of recently uncovered information, please turn over records and descriptions of direct or indirect communications between Dr. Ford or her representatives and any of the following: (1) U.S. Senators or their staffs, particularly the offices of Senators Feinstein and Hirono, other than your communications with me and my staff in preparation for the September 27 hearing; (2) the alleged witnesses identified by Dr. Ford (Leland Keyser, Mark Judge, and Patrick "P.J." Afghanistan
Afghan forces, Taliban battle for control of highways in Ghazni province
[AlAhram] Heavily armed Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
fighters destroyed bridges near the central city of Ghazni on Saturday, closing the main highway between the capital Kabul and southern Afghanistan, officials said.

Sporadic festivities erupted between Afghan soldiers and Taliban murderous Moslems who were trying to gain control over parts of Ghazni province nearly two months after being pushed back from the city by U.S.-backed Afghan forces, officials added.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor's front man in Ghazni, said fighting was ongoing and the Afghan army had deployed helicopters to prevent the bandidos murderous Moslems from entering the city centre.

"We are fully prepared to attack them. This time the province will not fall into the hands of the Taliban," Noori said.

Five bandidos murderous Moslems were killed as they were planting bombs on three bridges on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, Noori added.

The attack on Ghazni was a show of strength for the Taliban, underscoring how volatile the security situation remains two weeks before the parliamentary elections.

Polling has already been called off in Ghazni province after the Taliban overran it in August and besieged the city for five days.

That confrontation killed 150 Afghan cops and 95 civilians dead, as well as hundreds of Taliban fighters, said officials then.

President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's Western-backed government pledged $20 million for relief and reconstruction of Ghazni after security forces defeated the Taliban fighters in that battle.

Afghan forces said on Saturday they were also fighting Taliban murderous Moslems to retake a highway linking Ghazni and Paktia provinces. The Taliban took control of the arterial road in August and had imposed a tolls on civilians using the highway.

Rohullah Khalil Ughlo, an Afghan army commander, said 22 Taliban murderous Moslems were killed and 17 were maimed in festivities to secure the highway.

"The operation will end soon and the highway will be open for traffic. People will not have to pay illegal taxes anymore," said Ughlo.

Meanwhile residents of Qarabagh district, 55 km (35 miles) south of Ghazni city, said the bandidos murderous Moslems had set up checkpoints and were preventing vehicles from passing through several residential areas.

The FBI Must Now Investigate Christine Ford. Here's Why.
[DailyWire] Once Kavanaugh is officially confirmed, perhaps there should be another investigation ‐ an investigation into Christine Ford, her attorneys, and Senate Democrats. There is plenty of smoke to indicate that this was all a highly-coordinated political hit job. If it was ‐ indeed, if there was any coordination at all, in any form ‐ then this would be one of the great scandals in American political history.

1) Leland Keyser, the (former, I'm assuming) friend of Christine Ford who denied ever attending the party she described or even knowing Brett Kavanaugh at all, now reports that she was pressured to change, or "revisit," her testimony...

#2  In the interest of law and order, governmental transparency and accoutability, there should be an investigation. If there is wrongdoing, throw the book at them. There need to be consequences for wrongdoing.

#3  Shouldn't leave this to official bodies/proof of criminal conspiracy. Should found an NGO. A woman MeToo-es a Republican candidate before election/conformation and drops it after - win or lose, you sue her in civil court for defamation of character afterwards - put her through the wringer.

Justice Kagan is Concerned About the Supreme Court's 'Legitimacy' if Kavanaugh is Confirmed
I agree! She is now 'illegitimate' and must quickly resign from the court.
[Townhall] During a talk at Princeton University on Friday, Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan expressed deep concern over the legitimacy of the Court after Justice Anthony Kennedy retired. Kagan is concerned that the "middle position" ‐ also known as the unpredictable vote ‐ is now gone and Kennedy could be replaced with someone (Judge Brett Kavanaugh) whose views fall more on the conservative spectrum.

Kagan explained that Kennedy and Sandra Day O'Connor did something important for the Court: they made it look "impartial and neutral and fair."

"Part of the Court's strength and part of the Court's legitimacy depends on people not seeing the Court in the way that people see the other governing structures of this country now," Kagan explained. "In other words, people thinking of the Court as not politically divided in the same ways. It's not an extension of politics, but instead somehow above the fray."

Kagan believes it's important for the Court to uphold that integrity, especially because we live in a deeply divided political climate.

"In the last, really 30 years, starting with Justice O'Connor and continuing with Justice Kennedy, there has been a person who found the center or people couldn't predict in that sort of way. That enabled the court to look as though it was not owned by one side or another and was indeed impartial and neutral and fair," Kagan said. "It's not so clear going forward. That sort of middle position, you know, it's not so clear whether we'll have it."

You mean has been replaced. And if your goon squads didn't go after Kavanaugh like you did, there would have been a chance that would still be the case. Instead, you'll get someone as far to the right as Clarence Thomas, if not more so, and for the same reason, for at least thirty years.

#8  Kagan was the Dean at Harvard Law School who hired Kavanaugh to teach 100s of law students during the past 11 years. Now, she questions whether he should be on SCOTUS for political reasons? Where's the blind lady of justice? Damned leftist idealogues!

Posted by: DooDahMan || 10/07/2018 4:56 Comments || Top||

#11  I believe Kagan has just made the basis of recusal to any Trump cases before the court. Throw in Ginsberg's comments during the election, that's two recusals. Now let's talk about 'legitimacy' if you don't.
Posted by: P2kontheroad || 10/07/2018 6:18 Comments || Top||

#12  I would argue that it may be legitimate now that Kavanaugh is appointed. But only time will tell. The court should have been leaning conservative for years yet seemingly conservative judges actually leaned left. If Kagan wants a middle of the road justice then she is more than welcome to fill that role.

One killed, others wounded, including police, in Salahuddin, Anbar blasts
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) One civilian was killed and a few others were maimed on Saturday when blasts rocked two areas in Iraq’s Salahuddin and Anbar provinces, according to Iraqi security and press media.

The Iraqi Security Media Center said five people, including two police members, were maimed when a booby-trapped vehicle went kaboom! at Nazzal district, Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
Anbar.

In a separate incident, All Iraq News quoted a security source saying that one employee was killed and others were maimed when a roadside kaboom hit their car in Baiji, Salahuddin. The victims were workers at the Siniya oil refinery, said the source.
