BREAKING: ‘IED' found near Bill and Hillary Clinton's Chappaqua home

Speculation rampant on if it is the same style as the Soros one.
The 'Caravan' news has become a midterm issue and is bolstering President Trump's ratings. Something had to been done to break the Caravan news cycle.

#9  More details from Stephen Green:

This is turning into kind of a big deal, as they say.

Except...

Hmmm. ABC News hears it wasn’t an explosive device after all, and that it wasn’t actually at the Clinton house:
Preliminary investigations suggest the package was not an explosive device and that it was found near, not on, the Clintons’ property in the Westchester County town of Chappaqua.

Investigators are trying to determine if the package was a hoax, or if concern about it was the result of nervousness.

That would be good news … except for the bad reporting.

Update: NBC now reports “near” too:
Police in New Castle, New York, said they are investigating a suspicious package found early Wednesday morning near the home of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Sgt. Jeffrey Merritt told NBC News officers are working with the Secret Service and the FBI, but declined to release further details.

If the investigation is from an abundance of caution, well … good. That’s exactly what we’d expect. But reporting it as a “bomb” and at the Clinton home would be a huge error.

So what we have here is a possible attempted triple attack, but the near-certainty of bad reporting.

Do you get the feeling that reporters want so badly for the Right to be politically violent, that they're allowing their feelings to corrupt what should be straight-forward reports?

#21  Apparently one was sent to Maxine Waters. Cuomo tried to get into the act, too. In a mid-day press conference in front of New York's Time Warner Center, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that his office was sent a "device."
An NYPD official now says the suspicious package in question has since been deemed safe.
The source describes it as an informational package that contained literature.

#25  Skidmark’s Daily Mail article has photos of the device and the envelope sent to CNN. It wppears a workmanlike job, if basic, though I am nit qualified to judge more than that. The article was last updated at 4:08 pm EDT, with the following key points:

  • Secret Service said Wednesday they intercepted two packages en route to Obama's Washington home and Hillary Clinton's New York residence

  • Another suspicious package was also discovered Wednesday at the Time Warner Center in New York where CNN's newsroom is located

  • Authorities have described the devices as 'pipe bombs' that were rudimentary but functional

  • Investigators believe the devices are all similar to a small pipe bomb found at billionaire George Soros' home in New York on Monday

  • Other intercepted devices have also been reported that targeted Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, California congresswoman Maxine Waters and former Attorney General Eric Holder

  • The packages that were intercepted all had Schultz's office listed as a return address

  • Earlier, a law enforcement source said they believed there had also been a package intercepted for the White House but Secret Service later denied it

  • The White House issued a statement regarding the devices condemning the 'violent attacks'

  • Those targeted are among Trump's biggest political enemies and have been subjected to his ire on Twitter

#39  I first washed up in Washington in 2017,
Dropped off on Pennsylvania Ave. by someone's limousine,
But the swampies got suspicious when I bought a bunch of clocks
And went round to deliver 'em all to the Dems, dressed up as Mister Fawkes.

Next morning in the twitterverse I caught a lot of heat,
Or, rather, smoke: Failed Mail Kabooms! Deplorable Defeat!
Said the judge, "I'm going to charge you with the possession of these devices...
But the Party profoundly appreciates such noble sacrifices!"

Says I to him, "Your honour, if you'll give me half a sec,
I'll show you how I nearly blew you feckers up, by Kek,
Though the ACME Fake Kabooms I used were basically inert,
And the victims of my fatal hate remain, alas, unhurt."

Grins the judge, "No time for that, my man, I've got another plan
To blame on you, your Trumpkin pals, the Nazis, and the Klan.
Tonight, you'll don a gold toupee, and in a well lit box,
Deposit umpteen envelopes block-printed, 'TOXIC POX!'"

WSJ's David Gelernter: 'The Real Reason They Hate Trump'
[WSJ] He’s the average American in exaggerated form‐blunt, simple, willing to fight, mistrustful of intellectuals.

Every big U.S. election is interesting, but the coming midterms are fascinating for a reason most commentators forget to mention: The Democrats have no issues. The economy is booming and America’s international position is strong. In foreign affairs, the U.S. has remembered in the nick of time what Machiavelli advised princes five centuries ago: Don’t seek to be loved, seek to be feared.

The contrast with the Obama years must be painful for any honest leftist. For future generations, the Kavanaugh fight will stand as a marker of the Democratic Party’s intellectual bankruptcy, the flashing red light on the dashboard that says "Empty." The left is beaten.

Jordan's former counterterror chief Habis al-Hanini shot dead
[Aljazeera] Jordan's former counterterrorism chief General Habis Hanayneh has been shot dead outside his home, according to medical and security sources.

Hanayneh was killed around 7pm (16:00 GMT) on Tuesday in the city of Madaba, around 30km southwest of the capital, Amman.

The 56-year-old, also known as Abu Haytham, died from three gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at al-Nadim hospital, doctor Ibrahim Owais told Al Jazeera.

The assailant has been arrested, according to a statement issued by the spokesman of Jordan's public security department.

"The murderer confessed to his crime, saying he had planned it a while ago, believing that Hanayneh was behind his arrest in Russia in 2005, and caused him trouble at his work," the spokesman said in a statement.

A senior Jordanian intelligence officer and a former senior CIA officer who still has ties to Jordan confirmed Hanayneh's death.

The senior Jordanian intelligence officer, who spoke to Al Jazeera on condition of anonymity, said he had known and worked with Hanayneh for decades and that his death "was a tragic loss to Jordan and the counterterrorism community around the world".

A former CIA analyst, who had worked with Hanayneh in the past and did not wish to be identified for this report, told Al Jazeera that Hanayneh was an "extremely smart intelligence officer" and that he "really understood the underpinning of why individuals join extremist groups".

Hanayneh retired from Jordan's General Directorate of Intelligence (GID) "about a year ago", said the senior Jordanian intelligence officer.

This is the first time in recent memory where a high-ranking Jordanian intelligence officer was killed either on active duty or in retirement.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy: ‘No Longer Just Republicans Versus Democrats; It's America Versus Socialism'
[Breitbart] As the Democrats drift further leftward into openly embracing socialism, House Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) warns the political battle ahead of the midterm elections just two weeks from now is no longer a traditional partisan battle. Instead it is one where the country must confront and reject extreme ideas from the left.
“The debate today is different than the one we had before with Republicans versus Democrats on the size of what government can be,” McCarthy said in an exclusive interview on Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel on Tuesday. “You hit the nail on the head: It’s no longer Republicans versus the Democrats, it’s America versus socialism. The movement in this Democratic Party toward clear socialism, that’s what they’re doing on healthcare–government-run, it’s all government telling you what to do and when to do it instead of unshackling and unleashing the great powers of liberty and freedom.”
With the latest caravan of thousands of prospective illegal aliens streaming from Central America through Mexico to the U.S. border right now, McCarthy said people in the United States “should be upset because in Congress we had put a bill on the floor for immigration reform that would deal with this and end catch-and-release and not one Democrat voted for it.”

McCarthy, as Breitbart News has previously exclusively reported, has put forward legislation that would fully fund President Donald Trump’s planned border wall along the U.S. border with Mexico.

Dem Gubernatorial candidate Gillum gets Broadway tickets from 'land developer' undercover FBI agent
[National Review] Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum, the Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate, was aware that tickets he received to a Broadway show were purchased by an undercover FBI agent he thought was a land developer, according to more than 100 pages of records given to the state ethics commission and released to the public Tuesday.

The records, which were provided to the commission by an attorney representing Adam Corey, a lobbyist and longtime friend of Gillum’s, include text-messages between Corey and Gillum, and indicate that Gillum lied on numerous occasions in claiming he was unaware who purchased the tickets when he attended the play.

"Mike Miller and the crew have tickets for us for Hamilton tonight at 8 p.m.," Corey texted Gillum on Aug. 10, 2016, referring to one of the two undercover FBI agents who attended the trip to New York while posing as land developers with business before the city.

"Awesome news about Hamilton," Gillum replied.

The ethics commission is currently probing trips Gillum took to New York and Costa Rica that were arranged by Corey.

The Alleged Invasion and Migrant Caravan According to Shep Smith (video)
[The Wrap] Fox News host Shep Smith fired back at an angry viewer on Tuesday, telling a woman on live TV that President Trump was using her "fear of invasion" to whip up votes from his conservative base.

Smith read out loud a tweet from a viewer named "Heidi," who took issue with Smith’s coverage of the migrant "caravan" slowly making its way to the U.S. border.

"Heidi tweets just now, ’Sorry, Shep,'" the anchor read. "We are not falling for your fake story. This is an invasion. This is not a caravan of poor migrants seeking a better life. Yes, there may be some of that there. But you’re full of it if you believe what you’re saying. POTUS has intel. You don’t.'"

Minn. Dem Denies Knowledge of Former Co.'s Alleged Dealings With Saddam
[Free Beacon] A Minnesota Democrat running for Congress on her business record says she had no knowledge of a company subsidiary that was implicated in a kickback scheme with the Saddam Hussein regime.

Angie Craig is challenging Republican representative Jason Lewis in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, a rematch of the 2016 race that Lewis won by fewer than 7,000 votes. She has highlighted her success "working in health care" for more than two decades as evidence that she can "contribute meaningfully to immediately fixing what's wrong with health care." Her rise in the business world came through her work in corporate communications for global medical device firm Smith & Nephew. Her 12-year tenure at the company coincided with allegations that the company profited from corrupt deals with the Saddam Hussein regime. The probe conducted by former Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker into the oil-for-food program alleged that Smith & Nephew's UAE subsidiary paid more than $50,000 in bribes to members of the Hussein regime to win a $600,000 contract.

Craig denied any knowledge of the subsidiary's dealings with Iraq, pointing out that she only worked for the parent company and had no role in "billings or sales."

ISIS Media Group Threatens to Behead FBI Official Over Arrest of Chicago Member
[PJ] A pro-ISIS media group issued an online threat against an FBI special agent-in-charge over the arrest of one of their American members on a charge of providing material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization.

Ashraf Al Safoo,
...the quiet Iraqi-American immigrant and family man with a masters degree in computer science who heads a full scale PR organization that employs the usual variety of specialists for the purpose of internet jihad. His previous appearance in our archives gave his name as Ashraf al-Safoo, and no doubt at some point he will be named Ashraf Alsafoo or Ashraf A. Safoo...
34, of Chicago made his first court appearance on Friday and is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing on Thursday. At the time of his arrest he worked as a web developer for BlueBolt Solutions, a Chicago software company; his LinkedIn profile said he specializes in Microsoft technologies.

Al Safoo is a member of Khattab Media Foundation, which disseminates propaganda and recruitment materials on behalf of ISIS including posters, videos and articles released on sites including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

In response to his arrest, Khattab just released a new poster depicting a jihadist about to behead a victim face-down on a street with a city skyline in the backdrop. "From Khattab Foundation to Jeffrey The Dog of Romans," states the message. "We read your message YOU son of an infidel mother and the answer will be what YOU will see not what YOU will hear."

Kamala Harris: Americans Must be ‘Welcoming,' ‘Tolerant' to Caravan
[Breitbart] Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) ‐ who is eyeing a 2020 presidential bid against President Trump ‐ says the United States should be "welcoming" migrant caravans that arrive at the nation’s southern border.
While campaigning for Democrats in Iowa, Harris told a CNN reporter that the U.S. response to the 7,000-strong migrant caravan of job-seekers and previously deported illegal aliens should be "welcoming" and "tolerant."
"We are a country that ... our strength has always been that we are a tolerant country, that we are welcoming, in particular, those who have fled harm," Harris said of the caravan. "And the idea that we’re vilifying any one group and the fear-mongering, that’s not in the best interest of our country."

"What our country wants and what the people of our country want is they want leaders who are focused on the challenges that they face every day," Harris continued. "Like can they put food on the table and pay the bills by the end of the month ... not vilifying one group for the sake of fear-mongering and politics."

Though the establishment media has portrayed members of the migrant caravan as asylum-seekers, the migrants have repeatedly confirmed to the press that they are mostly economic migrants and previously deported illegal aliens who want to resume their old jobs in the U.S.

Rebels still frisky in Latakia and Aleppo governates, Russian troops gently succor residents in Rif Dimashq and elsewhere
[AlMasdar] Numerous ceasefire violations by bandidos holy warriors operating in Syria’s Idlib de-escalation zone were reported in Syria’s Latakia governorate and Aleppo’s neighborhoods over the past day. One serviceman of Syrian government forces was maimed, chief of the Russian Center for reconciliation of the conflicting sides Vladimir Savchenko said on Monday.

"During the day shelling attacks were reported from the settlement of Dahr abu-Assad in the Latakia governorate, Aleppo’s Makanis al-Duwayri neighborhood and the area around the research center. One serviceman of Syrian government forces was maimed as a result of shelling in Makanis al-Duwayri," Savchenko said.

Apart from that, in his words, positions of Syrian government forces near the settlement of Tadef in the Aleppo governorate came under shelling by illegal gangs operating near the city of al-Bab.

During the day, officers of the Russian reconciliation center conducted a humanitarian operation in the settlement of Jisrein in the Rif Dimashq governorate. A total of 1.29 tonnes of food products were distributed among civilians.

"In the past day, officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties helped sort out the status of 200 people who reside in areas formerly controlled by illegal gangs. Eight pieces of firearms were surrendered," Savchenko added.

The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country’s liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes.

Idlib: rebels refuse to leave buffer zone, more civilans exit

Syrian Army preparing to launch Idlib operation after jihadists refuse to leave buffer zone – report

[AlMasdar] (9:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to launch a new operation inside of the Idlib Governorate, the Fars News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Citing a Syrian military field commander, Fars News said that the jihadist rebels are reinforcing their positions in the Idlib Governorate’s buffer zone, while also resuming their attacks on the government’s positions.

“The army has specified the strongholds of heavy arms, tanks, cannons, missiles and mortar launchers in demilitarized zone mentioned in Sochi Agreement,” Fars News reported.

The commander said that a group of Ajnad al-Sham, deployed near a Turkish monitoring post in the small town of Sarmin, pounded the Syrian Army positions in the town of Kafraya in Eastern Idlib; this resulted in a heavy firefight.

A military source in the town of Mhardeh told Al-Masdar News last week that the Syrian Arab Army believes the jihadist rebels have no intention to leave the buffer zone.

The source said that the Syrian Army and Russian military watched the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party building new trenches around the Latakia part of fthe buffer zone.

Turkey is reportedly trying one last time to convince the jihadist rebels to leave the buffer zone; however, if they fail to withdraw, the Syrian Arab Army and Russian military will resume their operations at this front.

More civilians to exit Idlib through Abu Duhur crossing

[AlMasdar] (3:30 P.M.) – The Syrian government has re-opened Abu Duhur humanitarian crossing to allow more civilians exit the jihadi-held territories in Idlib toward the government-controlled areas.

Supported by Russian military, the humanitarian corridor is equipped with all logistics necessary to receive the civilians who will be leaving the rebel-run parts of the northwestern province.

Both Syrian and Russian armies will oversee the crossing, providing the basic needs as well as medical aid.

Tens of thousands of civilians have crossed the corridor to the government-held areas as the major offensive for Idlib drew near.

In a related context, the Russian and Syrian militaries are considering re-opening Qalaat al-Madiq and Morek crossings in northern Hama.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terror group in eastern Syria amid intensifying battles.

"Our forces have blitzed ISIS Lions of Islam and attacked their fortifications inside al-Sousah village", a statement published by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said.

Fierce festivities were reported inside the small village before the Kurdish fighters were capable of entering it.

The advance was made after the village was heavily bombed by the US-led coalition, killing scores of ISIS jihadists as well as civilians.

In this context, The U.S. Coalition destroyed a mosque that was used by the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization as a command center in eastern Syria, the Joint Task Force of the Operation Inherent Resolve stated.

"On October 22, a Coalition strike destroyed several buildings used by ISIS to launch attacks against Syrian Democratic Force partners in As Susah, Syria," the blurb said.

Last week, Syria accused the US-led coalition of bombing the town of Hajin in Deir Ezzor with internationally banned munitions.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the battles between ISIS and the Kurdish forces have so far killed 419 ISIS Lions of Islam and 232 SDF fighter.

The monitoring group also documented the death of at least 48 civilians ‐ including 12 children ‐ in Arclight airstrikes conducted by the US-led coalition on Deir Ezzor countryside.

Nowhere for people to go: who will survive the gentrification of Atlanta?
Poverty good - Progress and prosperity BAD, BAD, BAD!
[Guardian] Ahmad Cheers remembers the day a few years back when he knew his neighborhood was in the throes of change. He noticed a group of bikers, mostly white, riding though the northern tip of Pittsburgh, Atlanta, well after dark.

In some other parts of the city that may not have been remarkable, but here it took him aback.

"It just really surprised me," said Cheers, 28. "When I came to Atlanta in 2008, to be honest you couldn’t really pay white people to come over here."

Named for its resemblance to the steel-milling, hardscrabble Pennsylvania city in the north, Pittsburgh has long been a predominantly black (upwards of 95%, according to the 2010 census) and working-class section of southern in-city Atlanta.

Today the neighborhood, which was ravaged by the 2008 mortgage crisis, when it saw vacancy rates of up to 50%, is in the midst of an economic turnaround. Bright-yellow advertisements announcing "We buy houses" hang on nearly every utility pole and tree, posted by home flippers looking to make a quick buck as prices swell. Pittsburgh local Sohna Harzeez recalls a home down the street from her that was recently sold and painted, then relisted for $100,000 more than before.

A neighborhood becoming safe enough to bike in at night is, on the face of it, a good thing ‐ Cheers himself is an avid rider. It is what so often follows that kind of change that worries him. Like other, similar Atlanta neighborhoods before it, Pittsburgh, with its cheap home prices and attractive location, is attracting wealthier, younger and yes, whiter people, stoking concerns that longtime residents will be pushed out by higher rents, property taxes and, possibly, a cultural shift that says they are no longer welcome.

"It’s scary to see who is going to be priced out of places that they’ve grown up in, and the places that they’ve lived and remained in for so long," said Cheers.

Gentrification is affecting cities around the world, but housing advocates say there’s something especially unsettling about racial dynamics of those forces in Atlanta, a city historically described as a "black mecca".
Yikes! This could alter politics and long-standing urban voting trends.

That weird silence you get from the Democrats on the Honduras caravan
[American Thinker] As television screens fill up with images of the 7,000- to 10,000-strong Honduran migrant army snaking its way up through the belly of Mexico, and President Trump issues warnings that they not cross into the U.S., one group of people, well known for otherwise enjoying grandstanding, has been weirdly silent: Democrats. Fox News has certainly noticed:
Democrats appear to be remaining silent on the issue of the caravan of thousands of immigrants on the march from Central America and unwilling to get into a public debate with President Trump since the midterms are just weeks away.
Where's Sen. Chuck Schumer to weep some blubbery tears for the migrants? Where's House minority leader Nancy Pelosi to fill us in on the state of their souls? Where's the phony rhetoric from ex-president Obama about unskilled, illiterate, and non-English-speaking aliens being an "asset" to our country instead of a drain on its finances? Where's Sen. Bernie Sanders advising us they'll be great socialist voters? Where's Hillary Clinton to tell us they "are citizens" or something of that sort? Where's Rep. Luís Gutiérrez to blame America for the whole thing? Where's Kamala Harris with her love for the cameras?

Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Jamal Khashoggi: Saudi journalist's body parts found in garden, sez Sky sources
[SkyNews] By Alex Crawford, special correspondent, in Istanbul

Body parts belonging to murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi have been found, according to two Sky sources.

The sources have told Sky News the Saudi dissident had been "cut up" and his face "disfigured".

One source also suggested the writer's remains were discovered in the garden of the Saudi consul general's Istanbul home - located around 500 metres away from the consulate.

It contradicts the explanation being made by Saudi officials that the body was rolled up in a carpet and handed to a local collaborator who was tasked with disposing of the evidence.

New Jersey viral outbreak leaves six young patients dead, 12 others ill
Notice lack of names and photographs.
[Reuters] Six young patients died and 12 others became sick following an outbreak of adenovirus at a rehabilitation center in Haskell, New Jersey, the state’s Health Department said on Tuesday.

Adenoviruses frequently cause mild illness, with cold-like symptoms, particularly in young children. But the children affected in this case have compromised immune systems, the health department said.

The 18 patients range in age from a toddler through young adulthood and most are under 18 years old, health department spokeswoman Nicole Kirgan said in an email. The department is not releasing exact ages of any patients because of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and privacy reasons, Kirgan said.

The Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, which includes a pediatrics center, has been instructed not to admit any new patients until the outbreak ends, the department said.

"This strain of virus tends to cause outbreaks in centers of communal living and has ... unfortunately led to deaths," Dr. Shereef Elnahal, the state’s health department commissioner, said on Twitter. "We take this very seriously."

Health department officials were at the center on Tuesday and also on Sunday and found minor hand-washing deficiencies, the department said. Health officials are working with the center on infection control issues.

The health department will continue an active on-site surveillance and has recommended measures to protect against the further spread of infection, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said on Twitter.

"Heartbroken that several children have lost their lives in an adenovirus outbreak in Haskell," Murphy said.

After experiencing cases of adenovirus in its pediatric unit, the center notified government health agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and is fully cooperating with them and has sought out their guidance, the Wanaque center said in a statement emailed by Rowena Bautista, administrator of the center.

"As a result, facility staff have diligently implemented all available infection control and prevention measures in order to protect the health and safety of the Wanaque Center’s residents," center officials said.

The facility’s pediatrics center serves newborns to 22-year-olds who are "medically fragile" and provides an individualized program for each child, the center’s website said. From preschool through high school, children learn in classrooms that are handicapped accessible and set up for ventilator use, it said.

Haskell is located about 32 miles northwest of New York.

As predicted at the Burg: SECOND migrant mob headed for the US from Honduras!
Goody. Here’s hoping President Trump is as firm as he has threatened to be.
[Reuters] TAPACHULA, Mexico/GUATEMALA CITY - A group of over a thousand Central Americans in Guatemala headed toward the Mexican border on Tuesday, as a larger caravan of migrants that has angered U.S. President Donald Trump paused in southern Mexico on its planned journey toward the U.S. border.

Trump has vowed to begin cutting millions of dollars in aid to Central America and called the caravan in Mexico a national emergency as he seeks to boost his Republican Party’s chances in the Nov. 6 congressional elections.

The caravan, mostly Honduran migrants fleeing violence and poverty at home, is currently in the town of Huixtla in Chiapas state, around 31 miles (50 km) north of the Guatemalan border and a distant 1,100 miles (1,800 km) from the United States.

Mexico’s government said in a statement on Tuesday that it had received 1,699 requests for refugee status, including children. The government estimates there are around 4,500 people in the group.

Shots fired at Israeli troops in Palestinian city; army says no soldiers hurt
[IsraelTimes] IDF investigating identity of perpetrators of attack in southern West Bank city of Halhul

Shots were fired Tuesday evening at a group of Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, the military said.

No troops were hurt in the incident in the Paleostinian city of Halhul in the southern West Bank, according to a statement by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.

Details of the attack, including the identity of the assailants, were being investigated, the statement said.

The attack came after a 17-year-old Paleostinian was apprehended earlier in the day by Border Policemen at Hebron’s Tomb of the Patriarchs after he pulled a knife on them.

Police said the teen arrived at a security checkpoint at the entrance to the West Bank city’s holy site and was instructed to empty his pockets. Though he complied, a metal detector went off when he passed through it.

When coppers told him to lift his shirt, he at first refused, then pulled out a large knife he had hidden on his person and brandished it at the officers.

Policemen aimed their weapons at the suspect and ordered him to put down the weapon. He was eventually subdued without shots being fired, and was placed in durance vile
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
and taken for questioning.

Police said they believed the suspect had intended to smuggle the knife into the site in order to carry out an attack.

US Military Disabled Russian Signaling Devices In Syria For The First Time
Alexander Sitnikov, wrote in Svobodnaya Pressa, on a report explaining the ways to counter Putin’s threats to the US military.

[Muraselon] "The Pentagon prefers to keep the details of its confrontation with Russian means of electronic warfare secret," the article said. At times, some retired US generals are praising our electronic systems as the best in the world, even though they still consider the US military the strongest on the planet." Sitnikov wrote.

"What kind of American power can be spoken, if almost all of its weapons are connected to satellite communications, GPS, mobile Internet, and electronic warfare devices, and as is known these connections can be easily disabled. Yet Americans are confident in their power."

"It is quite natural that Syria, torn by the seven-year war, has become the main field of the indirect battle between new types of American and Russian weapons, including electronic warfare." Sitnikov added.

The DARPA report, published recently by the Advanced Defense Research Projects Agency, on the implementation of a $ 9.6 million contract, received a special attention from military experts and journalists. Interestingly, the funds were allocated to provide US forces, in Syria and Iraq, with alternative communications systems capable of operating under strong electronic radio interference conditions.

Worth-notable that DARPA contracts are executed under special confidentiality conditions. The infusion, it seems, has been a mistake. As soon as the report was published in the network, the Washington edition of the Monitor turned to the US Army General Paul Funk, who led, until June, coalition forces in the war against the Islamic state group.

The Monitor noted that "General Funk was surprised and said he was hearing it for the first time". Thus, it is possible to talk about the new DARPA innovations that have emerged recently with US forces.

While the media abroad wrote a year ago about the systems of our electronic warfare, "these systems are not as scary as they are portrayed, they are even more frightening," and now they talk a lot about the constant search for new solutions. That both the Russian and American armies are testing each other regularly, looking for weaknesses.

Deir Ezzor: 14 IS members killed in confrontations against SDF, east of Syria
[IraqiNews] The Syrian Democratic Forces, backed by the U.S.-led Coalition, have announced retaking a strategic village and inflicting huge losses in lives on Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in its last bastion, east of Euphrates.

In a statement, SDF said "counter-terrorism battles have achieved progress and inflicted losses in lives and equipment on the enemy. It liberated half of al-Sousah."

The coalition jets, according to the statement, carried out seven Arclight airstrikes against Islamic State locations in al-Bagoz, al-Sousah and Hajin cities.

"The confrontations in these fronts left 14 forces of Evil killed, while two SDF fighters were killed and three others injured," it added.

Speaking to BasNews, a source from SDF said "our campaign against Islamic State will last for longer than the expected due to the sandstorm that hits the region from one side, in addition to using civilians as human shields by the forces of Evil from another side."

The group also, according, to the source, planted explosives in its last stronghold, which includes villages of al-Bagoz, Hajin, al-Shaafa, al-Sousah, Abu Khater and abul Hassan.

In September, each of the Coalition and SDF announced the launch of operations, east of Euphrates.

SDF controls 28 percent of the Syrian lands, becoming the second controller of lands, after the regime forces, which control around 60 percent.
Al Masdar adds:
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the battles between ISIS and the Kurdish forces have so far killed 419 ISIS Lions of Islam and 232 SDF fighter.

The monitoring group also documented the death of at least 48 civilians ‐ including 12 children ‐ in Arclight airstrikes conducted by the US-led coalition on Deir Ezzor countryside.

Pence points to leftist groups as caravan organizers
[PULSE.NG] Vice President Mike Pence suggested Tuesday that leftist groups financed by Venezuela might be behind the caravan of Central American migrants colonists headed toward the US border.

Speaking at a forum hosted by The Washington Post, Pence said he had been in contact with the presidents of Honduras and Guatemala about the unfolding situation.

He said Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez told him the caravan "was organized by leftist groups in Honduras financed by Venezuela and sent north to challenge our illusory sovereignty and challenge our border."

The Wall Street Journal editorial board and the conservative Heritage Foundation also have highlighted reports that the caravan was organized by a former Honduran politician, Bartolo Fuentes, of the leftist Libre party.

Fuentes was deported from Guatemala on Friday after being enjugged
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
for entering the country illegally with Honduran migrants colonists who had trekked from San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

The Honduran newspaper La Tribuna quoted Fuentes on October 16 as acknowledging that he and other Libre members organized the caravan through Facebook.

Libre was founded by a coalition of leftist groups led by Manuel Zelaya, a former Honduran president and ally of the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. Zelaya was ousted by the military in 2009.

Pence said the United States was working closely with Mexico to keep the caravan, estimated to have grown to 7,000 people, from crossing the border.

"We're going to do everything in our power to prevent this caravan from coming north and violating our border," he said.

This time I recommend the US send some marshals to capture Bartolo Fuentes and any other members or coyotes
who are seeking to undermine our laws and jeopardizing the safety of the migrants.
Rather this time I recommend the traffickers be dropped off at Guantanamo instead where no due process is required till the trafficking problem is solved.
Money transfers to any of these countries like Honduras and Venezuela should be banned and regarded as funding for terrorism.

UK Warship Captain Paints 'Deeply Frightening' Future of Warfare Amid NYC Visit
In which Sputnik wishes us to join it in being terrified.
Dwelling on the increased threats to the security of the United Kingdom, Captain Kyd painted a quite terrifying picture of the future of warfare:

"I think the coalescence of militarization, quantum computing, of automated fighting elements whether it is in the air, the surface or subsurface, the ability of computers and machines to make fast decision making loops ‐ I think will fundamentally change the character of warfare."

He continued, "The nature of warfare won’t change ‐ which is to dominate and kill the enemy. I think it is an exciting but deeply frightening future where I think the ethics and morals of war will be tested, and where we will see, I am sure, robots engaged in killing other human beings."
Goodness gracious.
Reflecting on the potential forms of warfare, Captain Kyd suggested the world will see an increase in biological, chemical and genetic ways of waging wars.
Oh dear.
"I think we will see all sorts of vile methods. Viral warfare, and also attacks fundamentally against civilian populations through bringing down infrastructure, power grids, cyber warfare ‐ a full spectrum of activity against the population which will be deeply frightening."
Perhaps we should surrender proactively, leaving the Russians to wallow in all that vileness while our souls stay pure under Russian rule.

Two Koreas, UN forces agree to remove weapons at border
[DAWN] North and South Korea and the UN Command agreed on Monday to withdraw firearms and guard posts in the demilitarised zone village of Panmunjom this week, Seoul’s defence ministry said, the latest move in a fast-improving relationship.

The three sides held their second round of talks at Panmunjom to discuss ways to demilitarise the border in line with a recent inter-Korean pact reached at last month’s summit in Pyongyang.

The US-led UNC, which has overseen affairs in the DMZ since the end of hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War, was not immediately available for comment.
"I can say no more!"
but it said on Friday it supports the two Koreas’ efforts to implement their military deal.

The announcement comes amid US concerns that the inter-Korean military initiative could undermine defence readiness and comes without substantial progress on North Korea’s promised denuclearisation.

Afghanistan
Gen. Raziq’s assassination plan hatched in Pakistan: Ghani
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
said the liquidation plan of the former Police Chief of Kandahar Gen. Abdul Raziq was hatched in Pakistain.

Speaking during a gathering with the tribal elders of Kandahar, President Ghani demanded the extradition of the perpetrators involved in the liquidation of Gen. Raziq from Pakistain.

President Ghani arrived in Kandahar province earlier today accompanying a delegation of high level government officials to offer condolences to the people of the province regarding the deadly incident that left Gen. Raziq and Kandahar intelligence chief dead.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said President Ghani hailed the bravery and campaign of Gen. Abdul Raziq for the defense of the country and ain the fight against international terrorism.

He said if the enemies think that the liquidation of Gen. Raziq would lead to security gap in Kandahar then they should rethink as Kandahar has been home to heroes.

President Ghani also conferred the title of hero of independence to Gen. Raziq and changed the name of Kandahar Police training academy to his name, ARG Palace said, adding that President Ghani also instructed the Kandahar and Kabul Municipalities to name certain roads after Gen. Raziq’s name.

Gen. Abdul Raziq lost his life in an attack by a gunman in Kandahar governor’s compound last Thursday.

The provincial intelligence chief of the province Gen. Abdul Momin was also killed in the attack while the provincial governor Zalmay Weesa sustained injuries.

The attack was carried out by one of the security guards of Kandahar governor Zalmay Weesa.

Cop gets bail in rickshaw driver self-immolation case
[DAWN] KARACHI: A local court on Monday granted post-arrest bail to a detained traffic police official booked in a case of extorting money from a rickshaw driver, who died after committing self-immolation in protest.

NAB challenges suspension of Sharifs’ jail term
[DAWN] The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday challenged the Sept 19, 2018 Islamabad High Court (IHC) order of suspending the jail term awarded by a trial court in the Avenfield reference to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired captain Mohammad Safdar.

In its appeal, which was filed through its special prosecutor Akram Qureshi, NAB contended that the IHC had failed to appreciate that through its order, it had seriously prejudiced the case of the prosecution by holding that the trial court judgement suffered from obvious and glaring defects and infirmities and that the convictions and sentences handed down to the accused might not be sustained ultimately.

It requested the apex court to set aside the IHC order and recall the relief of suspending the sentence and the grant of bail to all the accused.

On Sept 19, a division bench of the high court had set free Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and son-in-law after accepting their petitions seeking suspension of the sentence awarded to them by an accountability court of Islamabad on July 6. The court had awarded 10 years imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif, seven years to his daughter and one year to his son-in-law in the Avenfield apartment reference.

UN committee slams French 'burqa ban' for 'violating' rights

Human Rights Committee on Tuesday criticised La Belle France's so-called burqa ban, saying the law "violated" the rights of two women who were fined for wearing full-face veils in public.

The committee called for the women to be compensated and for a review of the 2010 law that forbids people from publicly wearing clothing that conceals their face.

"The French law disproportionately harmed the petitioners' right to manifest their religious beliefs," the committee said in a statement.

It added that it was not convinced by La Belle France's claim that the ban was necessary for security and social reasons.

Hamas cracks down on Gaza drugs
[IsraelTimes] Authorities say drug use has grown among the Strip’s 2 million residents as people look for an escape from harsh living conditions, soaring unemployment and travel restrictions

Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, authorities have been burning piles of narcotics and cannabis in a yearly sweep against drugs in the beleaguered Gazoo Strip.

Officers in military fatigues on Monday poured gasoline and set alight more than 1 million tablets of opioid painkiller tramadol, about 1,500 slabs of hashish and 900 grams of opium.

With residents suffering under a decade-long Israeli-Egyptian blockade since the terrorist group Hamas took power, authorities say drug use has grown among Gazoo’s 2 million residents as people look for an escape from harsh living conditions, soaring unemployment and travel restrictions. Israel imposes the blockade to prevent Hamas, which seeks to destroy Israel, from importing weaponry.

Hamas says it is fighting the endemic relentlessly. On Monday, it sentenced 17 people convicted of drug trafficking to hard labor prison terms of 10 years to life.

Last year, Hamas politicians endorsed the death penalty
to curb drugs.

Jerusalem sends city workers to clean Shuafat camp for first time ever
[IsraelTimes] Jerusalem city hall says 15 municipal sanitation workers entered the Shuafat Paleostinian refugee camp for the first time ever Tuesday to carry out trash removal and other cleaning services.

The move was ordered by outgoing Mayor Nir Barkat, who has outlawed the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees from operating in the city and providing services to Paleostinian residents.

According to the city, workers found hundreds of tons of untended garbage and construction waste. Workers will start entering the camp daily to take over what the city called UNRWA’s "inadequate services."

It will also start to provide education, health, and other services to the area, to replace UNRWA.

While in the city limits, municipal workers, police, and others have refused in the past to enter the Shuafat camp and other neighborhoods beyond the West Bank security barrier, leading to charges of official neglect. Barkat, who has been mayor since 2008, blamed UNRWA, which has recently had its budget slashed by the US, for the shortfall in services.

The move comes a week before Jerusalem is set to choose a new mayor. Barkat, who visited Shuafat Tuesday, is not running for re-election and it is not clear if his successor will continue the services.

Trump says Khashoggi killing ‘worst cover-up ever,’ as US revokes Saudi visas
[IsraelTimes] In first sanctions, US revokes visas of 21 Saudi officials believed involved in fatal incident; Pompeo promises ’these penalties will not be the last word on this matter’

The United States announced Tuesday that it was revoking visas of nearly two dozen Saudi officials involved in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, in the toughest action to date against its longtime ally, as President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
called the killing the "worst cover-ups in the history of cover-ups."

Trump told news hounds in the Oval Office that he’s expecting a full report on the killing soon. But he said, "They had a very bad original concept" and it was "carried out poorly."

He called the events after Khashoggi’s death "the worst cover-up ever."

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has claimed Khashoggi, a writer for The Washington Post who wrote critically about Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....
, died accidentally in a brawl at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2.

But Ottoman Turkish officials say a 15-men team tortured, killed and dismembered the writer and say Saudi officials had planned the killing for days.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States has "identified at least some of the individuals" behind the death.

"These penalties will not be the last word on this matter from the United States. We will continue to explore additional measures to hold those accountable," Pompeo told news hounds.

"We are making very clear that the United States does not tolerate this kind of action to silence Mr. Khashoggi, a journalist, through violence," he said.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert later said that the measure will affect 21 Saudi suspects who will either have their visas revoked or be ineligible for future visas.

Pompeo said that the Saudis came from "the intelligence services, the royal court, the foreign ministry and other Saudi ministries."

The top diplomat said the United States was also looking into whether to take action under a law named after Sergei Magnitsky, the anti-corruption accountant who died in Russian custody, that would impose financial sanctions on individuals behind Khashoggi’s death.

US politicians have been pressing the Trump administration to take tough action, with several mentioning the Magnitsky Act.
The bipartisan Russia and Moldova Jackson–Vanik Repeal and Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012 intended to punish Russian officials responsible for the death of Russian tax accountant Sergei Magnitsky in a Moscow prison in 2009. Since 2016 the bill, which applies globally, authorizes government to sanction human rights offenders, freeze their assets, and ban them from entering the U.S.
Pompeo reiterated that the United States still considered Saudi Arabia an ally, saying he and Trump were "not happy" to move against the kingdom.

#1  So was this an ostentatious execution of a political enemy of the Saudi regime?

Or was this an operation by MB/Turkish agents of influence within the Saudi security apparatus who deliberately arranged for this encounter to end in Kashoggi's death, triggering an improvised and clumsy attempt at a coverup?

Anti-Police Protester Who Yelled At 9/11 Widow Loses Job: ‘His Behavior Does Not Represent' Our Organization
[DailyCaller] An anti-police protester who told a 9/11 widow that her "husband should probably f***ing rot in the grave" has been fired from his job.

"Steve Wilson is no longer an employee of [Self Enhancement Inc]. His behavior does not represent the values of our organization or the high expectations that we have for our employees," SEI tweeted over the weekend, according to the Daily Wire on Monday.

The statement comes after video of a rally in Portland, Oregon, occupied by both Antifa and Trump supporters, went viral last week.

The protester can be heard screaming profanities at the woman, who then turns around and faces the man to only to explain, "My husband died in 9/11."

"Good for him! Good," the left-wing protester replied. "Good. NYPD were a bunch of sodomized ‐ f***ing sodomizing immigrants with their bully sticks. Your husband should probably f***ing rot in the grave."

When another man walked up to the screaming protester and asked if he had "just called my mom out," however, the guy took off running.

George Soros and his 'rented evangelicals' outed by Christian leaders
[WashingtonTimes] A new video from the American Association of Evangelicalsreveals how George Soros, through his many funding ventures, has been busily infiltrating the Christian base in America to divide, and ultimately conquer, the religious minded within the Republican Party.

Truly, with the left, political wars know no bounds. Nothing’s sacred; not when it comes to the leftists’ drive to succeed.

Here’s what AAE put out in a press release: "Democrat ministers Rev. Jim Wallis and allies are now touring many states on ’Vote Common Good’ buses to ... split the evangelical vote before the mid-term elections. The AAE video features the newly released voice recording of [Jim] Wallis of Sojourners as he publicly denied that he was a recipient of Soros funding."

But guess what?

His denial’s proven a bit ‐ umm, wrong.

Soros-tied Open Society money and grant dollars have not only flowed by the hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Sojourners, AAE reported. But Soros-tied Open Society money and grant dollars have been flowing to the Sojourners for some time.

"Soros Funding of Sojourners Is Only the Tip of the Iceberg," wrote National Review in August of 2010.

"George Soros Funding Jim Wallis and Sojourners," wrote Crisis Magazine that same month and year, which went on to report: "The funding from Soros’s foundation, The Open Society, was revealed by Marvin Olasky in World magazine."

And then there was this, from the Blaze, in October 2011: "George SorosSends $150000 to Jim Wallis’ Left-Wing Group Sojourners."

’Lest the significance goes unrecognized: The Sojourners is a far-left group that masquerades as a Christian outlet, bent on doing God’s work, but that far more often seems to do nothing but Democrats’ will.
Continues...

Merkel Opens Up Germany to US LNG, Yielding to Trump's Pressure – Reports
[Sputnik] The German government plans to give in to Donald Trump's criticism about dependence on Russia's fuel and pour millions into a liquefied natural gas terminal. This is expected to diversify Germany's energy import, open it up to US gas and possibly avert hostile moves against the Nord Stream 2, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Nope. Not tired of winning.
Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel has told the country's lawmakers that the Cabinet is set to co-fund the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping terminal over breakfast this month. The $576 million project would be located in northern Germany, the US business outlet reports, citing the sources familiar with the meeting.

It's unclear how exactly Germany would support the project, as it could use subsidies, loans, credit guarantees, or protection of investors' rights.
According to the WSJ, one of the first applications was received from an international consortium in mid-October. It plans to construct an LNG terminal in the town of Stade, close to one of the country's biggest cities, Hamburg. The decision is to be made by year-end.

This move is expected to ease tensions between the US and Germany, and even shield the Russian-European joint venture Nord Stream 2 from possible US sanctions, according to the WSJ sources. The chancellor herself reportedly perceived this measure as a strategic decision rather than a diplomatic defeat from the US.
American silver or Russian lead. Wasn't a hard decision.
Donald Trump has been promoting American LNG in a bid to boost its exports to Europe. In July 2017, he pitched the product to 12 Central and Eastern European nations as an alternative to energy imports from other suppliers.

"You can never be held hostage to a single supplier," he told a news conference, commenting American LNG.

At the same time, he has repeatedly slammed Europe's reliance on Russian gas supplies. Apart from the vocal criticism, the United States has made a number of attempts to impede the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project and even incorporated a provision for counteracting the construction of the pipeline in its Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.

Germany has repeatedly fought off the criticism. Berlin described the Nord Stream 2 project as a rational one, considering the growth of Germany's demand for exported gas in the coming years.

Nevertheless, Merkel's government is turning towards alternative natural gas suppliers in a bid to ease its dependence on Russia, which provides 60 percent of the gas Germany imports and plans to expand with Nord Stream-2.

At the beginning of its term, Merkel's Cabinet has tasked itself with reducing Germany's dependence on natural gas imports via pipelines from Russia and Norway. The new government plans "to create infrastructure for liquefied natural gas (LNG)" from scratch as a part of its energy and climate program.

According to Germany's Economy and Energy Ministry, Merkel endorses all initiatives which support the further diversification of the gas supply ‐ whether from different regions or the means of transporting gas, while the government strongly backs private initiatives to build LNG terminals, which Germany now lacks.
Chalk up another defeat against Putty Pie. Trump understands that countries like Russia need money to be big and powerful. More specifically, Western hard currency. He just cut off another funding source for Mother Russia.

US appeals court upholds terror conviction for imam
[IsraelTimes] A US appeals court has upheld the conviction and life prison sentence given to a London imam for supporting terrorism.

The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals said Tuesday there was overwhelming evidence against Mustafa Kamel Mustafa.
...the Egypt-born one-eyed, hook-handed hate preacher generally known as Abu Hamza al-Masri, previously of Finsbury Park Mosque. He now graces the Florence, Colorado supermax prison, and was connected to more planned and executed terror plots and jihadis around the world over the past several decades than you can shake a stick at, some of them Al Qaeda...
The court also ruled that Mustafa’s 2012 extradition to the US from England didn’t come with conditions preventing his incarceration at the Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado.

Mustafa is missing both hands. His lawyers say he belongs at a prison better suited to people with disabilities.
Ol’ Hook Hands is a dyed-in-the-wool villain of the first water. Very few are as deserving as he of a lifetime spent in Supermax solitary — made especially piquant in his case because he stupidly blew off his hands while failing to learn how to manufacture bombs in Afghanistan. In line with longstanding trial lawyer practice, his advocates, having neither law nor facts on their side, are busily pounding the table.
Mustafa was convicted in 2014 of ensuring there were satellite communications for kidnappers during a 1998 attack that killed four tourists in Yemen, of supporting plans to open an al-Qaeda training camp in Bly, Oregon, and sending someone to an Afghanistan training camp.

Europe
Anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 - 1974 interview with Nicholas Krassó
[TheCommune] It must be unique for a revolution to begin with a mass demonstration in solidarity with the people of another country. Why did the demonstration in support of Poland on 23 October produce a popular uprising in Budapest?

The international context was very fundamental. In 1955 the Soviet Union had accepted Austrian neutrality, and in 1956 Khrushchev had recognised Yugoslavia as a country on the road to socialism even though it was outside the Warsaw Pact. And now suddenly Gomulka was being swept into power in Warsaw and he also seemed to be taking a neutralist position.

So it seemed that everybody around us was taking a neutralist stand and we Hungarians were again missing the bus, just as we had been the last satellite of Hitler at the end of the war.

IHC suspends Shoaib Shaikh's sentence in fake degree case
[DAWN] The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday suspended Axact's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shoaib Sheikh's 20-year jail term and granted him bail against surety bonds worth Rs500,000.

In July, an Islamabad sessions court had convicted Sheikh and 22 others in the fake degree scam case and awarded 20 years imprisonment under different charges. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs1.3 million on each of the convicts.

Sheikh and the others were nominated in a First Information Report (FIR) lodged against them on June 7, 2015 under Sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 473, 109/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 4 of Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010.

Subsequently, Sheikh challenged his conviction before the Islamabad High Court.

Shaikh's counsel Raja Rizwan Abbasi asked the court to suspend the sentence till the appeal against the trial court's decision in concluded. In his arguments, the lawyer pointed to what he called some grave legal mistakes in the decision.

Justice Athar Minallah observed that there is no complainant in the case. "The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) says that hundreds of thousands of people were defrauded but not even a single victim lodged a complaint," he said. The judge also observed that the prosecution failed to prove that the degrees were fake.

Millions in SNAP $$$ Flowed to Terrorists via 'hawalas' - Staring Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev
[Breitbart] Millions of taxpayers dollars trafficked through food stamp fraud went to terrorists who funded their activities at home and abroad, according to an explosive report from the Government Accountability Institute (GAI).

The report from GAI, where Breitbart News Senior-Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer serves as president, highlighted several instances where money obtained through Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits fraud went to fund acts of terrorism, including the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.

Although this method of using food stamp fraud money for terrorism has been around since the 1980s, it gained notoriety when New York City detectives testified before a Senate subcommittee about the 1993 World Trade Center bombings.

#1  For those readers unfamiliar with the scheme...
SNAP (and other programs) recipients use their benefit coupons in exchange or as payment for groceries. The groceries are then brokered for cash to local (mini-mart or bodega) merchants at discounted prices. The items are then sold at high market value*.

SNAP associated families may also own and operate said markets. So employees are paid very little.

*Milk, eggs and bread are always high priced at a gas station.

Nope. Asymptotically closer to overt rage, maybe.

CIA Director Gina Haspel in Turkey to investigate Khashoggi murder
[CBS] CIA Director Gina Haspel is traveling to Turkey as part of the investigation into the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, CBS News has learned. Saudi Arabia said Friday that Khashoggi, who was last seen Oct. 2, was killed at its consulate in Istanbul, but said he had started a "fistfight."

Earlier Monday, President Trump told reporters "we have top intelligence people in Turkey," but he didn't specify who he meant.

"We're going to see what we have," Mr. Trump said. "I'll know a lot tomorrow, they'll be coming back tonight or tomorrow morning. But we have people in Saudi Arabia."

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he will release a report Tuesday revealing the "naked truth" about what happened to Khashoggi.

Khashoggi, a journalist for The Washington Post, was a known critic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is a son of King Salman. Turkish officials allege they have video and audio evidence showing Khashoggi was dismembered. U.S. officials have been increasing pressure on Turkey to share the allegedly damning evidence.

Gazan teen said killed in border clashes with Israeli troops
[IsraelTimes] Army says some 200 Paleostinians riot along security fence, throw explosives at soldiers; fire balloons from Strip start 6 blazes in south

Paleostinians clashed with Israeli troops on the Gazoo border Tuesday, with the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run health ministry in the Paleostinian enclave reporting a 17-year-old had died of injuries sustained during the violence.

Muntaser al-Baz, 17, was shot by Israeli soldiers during a protest east of the Bureij refugee camp and died at the Shifa hospital in Gazoo City, according to the ministry.

Five others were maimed during the unrest, the ministry said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman told AFP that troops at the border fence opened fire during a violent protest by about 200 Paleostinians.

"They burned tires and threw bombs at soldiers," she said. "They also threw a petrol bomb."

She said none of the soldiers were maimed.

"Troops responded with riot dispersal means and gunfire according to the rules of engagement," she added.

In addition to the festivities on the border fence, incendiary balloons launched from Gazoo sparked six fires near Israeli towns in southern Israel, a front man for the Fire and Rescue Services said.

Flashpoint Indian temple closes without admitting women
[DAWN] The latest window for worship at a flashpoint Indian shrine has closed without a single female devotee of menstruating age being admitted, despite a court order overturning a ban on their presence in the temple.

Mobs of Hindu hardliners prevented women aged 10 to 50 from getting into the Sabarimala temple complex when it opened last Wednesday for the first time since the Supreme Court reversed a ban on women of menstruating age from worshipping at the temple.

The shrine in southern Kerala state is only open on a handful of auspicious days every year, and a number of Hindu women between these ages had flocked there in the wake of the court order.

But the ruling had enraged traditionalists, including supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Protesters, including women and kiddies, massed at the base of the shrine when it opened last week, threatening women trying to reach it.

US renews call on Pakistan to cut off extremists
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday renewed calls on Pakistain to curb faceless myrmidons fighting in Afghanistan, saying Washington was holding its uneasy war partner accountable.

Pompeo made the comment as he welcomed long-delayed legislative elections in Afghanistan, saying the United States was "encouraged" by voter turnout, despite reports of widespread problems including poll centers that failed to open or lacked voter rolls.

"Our expectation is that Pakistain will not provide safe harbor to bully boyz on their western border," Pompeo told news hounds when asked about Islamabad’s role.

"We couldn’t have made that message any more clear," he said, adding: "Pakistain will be held to account if they don’t achieve that, if they’re not sincere in that effort."

"Everyone wants a reconciliation in Afghanistan and to achieve that, you can’t have a safe harbor for Taliban

, for Haqqani and for others inside of Pakistain," he said, listing myrmidon movements fighting in Afghanistan.

Death threats non-stop for Iraqi male beauty pageant contestant
[IraqiNews] An Iraqi male beauty pageants contestant says death threats continue to him and his family over his activity, to which religiously-driven contempt left a number of peers dead.

Wahab Hasso, 23, a Yazidi who lived in the Netherlands as a refugee since 2012, and a finalist at two earlier pageants, told Sputnik website he secretly walked out of a 2017 contest in the Netherlands after receiving death threats for his Iraq-based family via angry facebook commentators.

He said threats to his family began in 2017, right after the liquidation of Karar Noshi, a young Iraqi artist and a social network celebrity known for his flamboyant style.

He revealed that the most recent threats were received after the liquidation of Iraqi female pageants star, Tara Fares, who was filmed by a security camera being rubbed out in her car by an attacker.

Hesso vowed to take part in upcoming pageant in the Netherlands in response to the liquidation of Hammoudi al-Meteiry, a 15-year-old boy, famous as "the King of Instagram" who was found dead with stabs in Baghdad earlier this month after his unknown killers doubted his "sexual orientations".

Iraq, since August, has witnessed liquidations of several social celebrities, including, most recently, Tara Fares, a second-ranking for "Miss Iraq" pageant, as well as cosmetics experts and rights activists, incidents which won condemnation by the United Nations

'I had no idea it was this bad': Huge line of people queueing for baby formula at Woolworths stuns shoppers
[DailyMail] Bulk buying of baby formula has been a delicate issue in Australia this year, with countless parents unable to purchase formula for their children.

Baby formula shoppers, commonly known as 'daigou', often raid the tins in store before they are placed on supermarket shelves.

It is a lucrative market, with some people earning in excess of $100,000 per year after shipping off the tins to willing buyers in China.
Why have the ChiComs not developed a domestic baby formula industry?
Of course there are Chinese baby formula brands, but it is equally certain that the Chinese products are neither safe nor nutritious.
Surely there is some way Trump can be blamed for all of this.

#1  Chinese people don't trust baby formula made in China. Not after the Sanlu scandal, when they put plastic additives in formula to pass protein tests.

China won't allow imports for obvious reasons. So the daigou step in to fill the gap.
Posted by: Herb McCoy || 10/24/2018 1:24 Comments || Top||

#2  And breast-feeding is looked down upon as unscientific. Baby formula is created by smart people to feed babies. Breastfeeding is what poor peasants from the countryside do, because they can't afford formula.

#4  Let me get this picture being painted. China has restrictions on imports. However, the 'daigou' have developed a means around the restrictions. Baby formula is in such a demand that Australia is experiencing a shortage due to this export market.

So, does Australia have restrictions on baby formula imports? Cause anyone with a dime sense of capitalism would have started to ship American based production to Australia for transshipment to China to answer the demand.

This doesn't add up.

#5  pets being poisoned by pet food from Asia.

In 2007. Some of the raw ingredients sourced in China were deliberately contaminated by the manufacturers with melamine to artificially increase the protein readings in lab tests. As I recall, it was discovered by the product development team at IAMS, then owned by Procter & Gamble, who were encouraged by management to bring their dogs to work. The rash of kidney failures quickly became obvious, though it took a while to track it back to the suppliers. I have friends who lost pets while working in the lab to find the cause. As we were collecting guinia pigs at the time, I was not aware until I read this that the problem was much bigger than a single boutique brand.
