MSM Blasts Carson for Compairng Refugees to Rabid Dogs
Notwithstanding the fact that some of them are rabid dogs, he did not compare them to rabid dogs, The media suggests he did so. I took what appear to be his words from the article. You can go to the link for all the hand-wringing and blather.
We want leaders who are not only smart but who care about other people. Now, at the same time, we must balance safety against just being a humanitarian. For instance, if there's a rabid dog running around your neighborhood, you're probably not going to assume something good about that dog and you're probably going to put your children out of the way.
Therefore, all refugees are rabid dogs. I see!
Doesn't mean that you hate all dogs by any stretch of the imagination, but you're putting your intellect into motion and you're thinking: 'How do I protect my children? At the same time, I love dogs and I'm going to call the Humane Society and hopefully they can come and take this dog away and create a safe environment once again.'
Therefore, he said the Department of Homeland Security is the Humane Society. I see!
By the same token, we have to have in place screening mechanisms that allow us to determine who the mad dogs are, quite frankly, who are the people who want to come in here and hurt us and want to destroy us. Until we know how to do that - just like it would be foolish to put your child out in the neighborhood knowing that that was going on - it is foolish for us to accept people if we cannot have the appropriate type of screening.
Obviously, the Black Republican candidate is as crazy as a loon. Go Hillary!

Gunmen take 170 hostages in Radisson Blu hotel in Mali capital
[Dawn] BAMAKO: Two gunmen have taken 170 people hostage in the luxury Radisson Blu hotel in the Mali capital Bamako on Friday, the group that runs the hotel said.

The hotel chain in a statement said two people had "locked in" 140 guests and 30 employees in an ongoing hostage-taking at the hotel.

"The Rezidor Hotel Group... is aware of the hostage-taking that is ongoing at the property today, Nov 20, 2015. As per our information two persons have locked in 140 guests and 30 employees," the company said.

"Our safety and security teams and our corporate team are in constant contact with the local authorities in order to offer any support possible to re-instate safety and security at the hotel," it added.

Gunmen shooting and shouting "God is great" burst into the hotel, a senior Malian security source said. The source said at least two private security guards had been injured.

Security sources said the gunmen have freed some hostages including those able to recite verses of the Holy Quran.

The raid targeted the Radisson Blu hotel, located just west of the city centre in a neighbourhood that is home to government ministries and diplomats, they said.
The Blu is located approx a kilometer from the US Embassy.

Yes. And French troops have been active for the past year or two driving Al Qaeda-linked jihadis and other troublemakers from Mali's northern cities.

However, Al Ahram reports the jihadis were speaking to one another in English rather than French, which is the official language of Mali, or one of the many other recognized or unrecognized languages of the country.

Several ORD bound people removed from Spirit Airlines flight at BWI
BALTIMORE (ABC7) -- Several people were removed from Spirit Airlines flight NK969 after the plane was called back to the gate while taxiing off Tuesday morning, according to ABC7 reporter Suzanne Kennedy, who was on the flight. The flight was scheduled to leave from BWI to Chicago.

[ABC] According to Kennedy, four passengers were initially removed from the flight, three males and one woman. They reportedly had several backpacks and appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, in their early 30s.

Police say a witness notified the flight crew when she saw one of the men watching a "media report" on his cell phone. Following 'see something, say something,' she notified the flight crew.

Three additional passengers were subsequently called out from the loud speaker and removed from the plane

Police arrest 3 for employing terrorist who carried out Tel Aviv terror attack
Police arrested three people on Friday suspected of employing the terrorist who killed two people in the stabbing attack in south Tel Aviv on Thursday. Police said it also arrested six Palestinians for illegally residing in Israel.
There's a lot of Paleos illegally employed in Israel. One way to deal with terrorism is to fine such businesses into bankruptcy. Another, it to boycott any business employing Arabs---I've seen some signs of this.

Ben Stein: Obama '€˜Has a Real Strong Hatred of America'
[Breitbart] Tuesday on Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show," Ben Stein, a former speechwriter for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, actor and author, Ben Stein said President Barack Obama "has a real strong hatred of America."

Stein said, "Mr. Obama has been wrong from day one about ISIS. He called them a JV team, he said that they weren't really serious or important. He has not in any sense addressed their threat. And he is a bad joke, as the leader of the most important nation in the world, he's a bad joke."

He continued, "He's a very real danger. Well, I'm very interested in psychology I'm very interest in psychoanalysis. I guess I probably should have been a psychologist. I think the question is, why is he so angry at America? I don't think there's much question that he does not wish America well. He has a real strong hatred of America. Is it because he's part black? I don't know. Is it because he felt his father was mistreated by the British in Kenya? I don't know. We don't know. We just know that in terms of being a forthright, bold leader who takes on our enemies, he's not there. He's missing in action."

Mark Levin: Seal Our Borders, 'Thank God for the Second Amendment'
[Breitbart London] On his Friday radio show, immediately on the news that terror attacks had occurred in Paris in multiple locations earlier in the day, Mark Levin offered his reaction to the attacks with a warning of what could happen here if the United States didn't act in the appropriate way.

Levin argued what happened in Paris could happen here and called out a number of so-called "front groups" in the United States.

"You know ladies and gentlemen, I don't know about you, but I am so sick and tired of politicians telling us we can't control our border, we can't determine who is coming into this country. I'm so sick of these ethnic front groups -- groups like CAIR and Muslim Brotherhood-associated groups in this country pretending to be civil rights groups and using our laws against us and using our freedom against us. I'm so sick of it."

"What is going on in France is going to happen here -- I truly believe it," he continued. "I cringe even when I say it, but I know it will. We're just an easy hit. We're just an easy target. We don't secure the border. We coddle people who come here illegally. We have a president who wants to bring in tens of thousands of people from Syria. We can't even vet them. We don't know their background. It doesn't mean everyone is a terrorist."

Government
Tammy Duckworth Suddenly Cares About Syria Refugees
[Breitbart] Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) who is running for Sen. Mark Kirk's (R-IL) U.S. Senate seat, is suddenly speaking out about Syrian refugees, after doing and saying nothing for years.

She published an op-ed in the Chicago Tribune: "Reject fearmongers, welcome Syrian refuges." She went on Wednesday's Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC to repeat those sentiments. Curiously, though, Duckworth never did much for Syria or refugees before the Paris attacks, or before GOP opposition arose to Obama's refugee plan.

In 2013, Duckworth opposed President Barack Obama's plan for limited strikes against Syria, saying: ""War is messy. War is never that simple."

She said that while "Syria is undergoing a humanitarian crisis," and "the United States cannot stand by as innocent civilians are being massacred," she wanted "to make sure we don't commit resources, the most precious of which are our men and women in uniform, with no comprehensive plan for our involvement."
Machine money needed? No problem, here are your talking points.

Suicide Vest, Bomb-Making Material Found in Garbage in Sidon

[AnNahar] A boom jacket, bomb-making material and a tactical vest were found Thursday during garbage sorting in the southern city of Sidon, media reports said.

"Workers found a boom jacket containing explosives, a timer and a tactical vest as they were sorting garbage at the Sayniq waste management plant in south Sidon," state-run National News Agency reported.

"Security forces immediately arrived on the scene and launched an investigation," NNA added.

Several boom jackets were seized in recent days as security forces launched a massive nationwide crackdown in the wake of deadly suicide kabooms in the Beirut southern suburb of Bourj al-Barajneh.

The attack, the worst in years, killed 44 people and maimed 240 others and was claimed by the jihadist Islamic State

group targets including warehouses and command posts in the Idlib and Aleppo provinces as they launched their "third massive air strike," the defense ministry said in a statement.

Powerful long-distance Tu-22 bombers also struck six targets including three "major plants" for refining oil in IS strongholds in the Raqa and Deir Ezzor provinces, Moscow said.

Meanwhile jets stationed at Russia's base in government-held territory in Syria hit 138 targets around the country on Thursday, the statement said.

Attkisson: Obama Selectively Reading Intel Reports
Former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson claimed that she has sources who say President Barack Obama has “closed his mind” to some intelligence reports with which he disagrees.
I doubt intel traffic is the only thing his mind is 'closed' to. As far as Obama reading a 'black book' (reading daily traffic)... I'd have to see it to believe it.
Wednesday on NewsmaxTV’s “Steve Malzberg Show,” Attkisson asserted that Obama “does not necessarily listen to the people with whom they disagrees. He seems to dig in. … He is facing formidable opposition on this particular point.”

Attkisson explained, “I have talked to people who have worked in the Obama administration who firmly believe he’s made up his mind, I would say closed his mind, they say, to their intelligence that they’ve tried to bring him about various groups that he does not consider terrorists, even if they’re on the U.S. list of designated terrorists.”

Obama “has his own ideas and there are those who have known him a long time who say this dates back to law school. He does not necessarily — you may think this is a good trait, you may think it’s a bad trait — he does not necessarily listen to the people with whom he disagrees. He seems to dig in and you know, that would be, I suppose he would say because he thinks he is right. He is facing formidable opposition on this particular point.”

Malzberg pressed Attkisson, “But you’re telling me that you’ve talked to people in his inner circle or in the administration that are telling you that even though there are groups that might be on our terror list that are classified as terrorist groups, Obama in his mind doesn’t consider them to be terrorists because what because they have a gripe?”

Attkisson explained, “I don’t know the reason for it. I’ve only been told by those who have allegedly attempted to present him or been in the circle that have attempted to present him with certain intelligence that they’ve said that he doesn’t want it. He said he doesn’t want it. Or he won’t read it in some instances.”
Blossom Unains5562 submitted the same story, commenting, "I'd love to see his list of "trusted advisers." "

Arabia
Soddy coalition seizes more rebel positions in Taiz
Yemen’s national army and resistance fighters backed by the Arab coalition air force advance on coup rebel positions in Taiz and seized more land on Wednesday as the insurgents continued their retreat, military sources said on Thursday.

The army and the resistance, who launched a major offensive on Monday to liberate the Southwestern town of Taiz, occupied most areas in Wazeyia and continued their swift advance towards Hannah near the main road linking Taiz with the port of Alhudaydah and other areas, they said, quoted by Yemen’s news network Mareb Press.

In Southeast Taiz, the fighters attacked Rahda town and seize the strategic Hammala hilltop after delaying the offensive for one day because of landlines planted by the fleeing Iranian-backed Houthis and their allies.

The attacks on two fronts were backed by intensified coalition air raids on rebel targets in Taiz, including a Houthi barracks and a Katyusha rocket base.

In another development, a Houthi field commander was killed in pitched battles with the national army and resistance in the Southern Aldale governorate, the network said.

It quoted resistance sources as saying Kahlan Al Shahri was killed after the allies seized Houthi positions in Murais in Aldale.

“The army and the resistance also occupied Yaees and Al Qahra, the last rebel positions in North Aldale following heavy night clashes,” the report said.

Operation against terrorists to continue till logical end
KARACHI - President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said that the operation against criminals and terrorists in Karachi as well as in other parts of the country will continue till eradication of terrorism from the country.

Addressing the 27th convocation of Pakistan Navy Engineering College of National University of Science and Technology, he said that the bold stance adopted by the government against extremists was being stringently implemented by the armed forces. “This is a matter of immense satisfaction that sacrifices rendered by people and Pakistan Army personnel are paying back with marked improvement in law and order situation and decline in terrorism related incidents,” the president said.

President Mamnoon said that country was presently at a crucial juncture and that unity at every level was needed to combat elements with extremist and violent tendencies. Reiterating that the government stands by the ongoing operation against the nexus of extremists, terrorists and criminals, he urged people in general to support the army and law enforcers against anti-state and anti-humanity elements.

“Consequent to action jointly undertaken by the government and state institutions, we witness that country is ushering into a new era of progress and development for which qualified and technically trained manpower is direly needed,” he said. Urging the young graduates of PNEC and NUST, to make optimum of their training in varied engineering and technology related fields, Mamnoon said inception of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor has enhanced the country’s need for technical hands all the more.

“Availability of maximum number of technically trained professional in modern technology in the coming years would be essential to help the country fully benefit from the economic corridor,” he reiterated adding that this would reduce dependence on foreign assistance. Expressing his satisfaction that the graduates to receive degree during the PNCE’s 27th convocation also included a significant number of women, he said women must increasingly join the country’s work-force.

“Constituting 50 per cent of the country’s total population they too must be in forefront and play their role in national development,” the president said. On the occasion, he also appreciated role played by Pakistan Navy as well as Pakistan Air force in emergency situations caused due to natural calamity or accidents at massive scale.

“Educational and training institutions run by Pakistan Navy are also a tremendous contribution more so as they are now also open to the public in general,” President Mamnoon said.

Taliban Gunmen Launch Suicide Attack near Kandahar
[AnNahar] Talibs wearing Afghan army uniforms launched a suicide and gun attack on a police headquarters near Kandahar Thursday, killing one soldier before the attackers were rubbed out, authorities said.

The attack came at dawn in the district of Arghandab, some 25 kilometers (15 miles) west of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, a relatively quiet area unused to such attacks, which appear to be a sign of the Taliban's alarming new push into urban areas.

Six people -- five assailants and one Afghan army soldier -- were killed in the attack, police told AFP.

"First one attacker detonated his vehicle laden with explosives at the entrance of the Arghandab police headquarters, then four others tried to enter the compound," Zia Durrani, Kandahar police front man told AFP.

The attack lasted half an hour before the gunnies were killed by security forces, Durrani said.

Niaz Mohammad Mujahid, police chief for Arghandab district, said that one Afghan soldier was killed and three others were maimed. A front man for the Kandahar governor confirmed the assault.

The Taliban, who have been fighting a bloody insurgency since they were driven from power in the US invasion of 2001, grabbed credit for the attack.

Report: Italy Arrests Syrians with False Passports, IS Photos
[AnNahar] Italian police have incarcerated

two Syrians trying to travel to Malta on false passports who had Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) related images on their phones, local media reported Thursday.

The two men, aged 19 and 30, were apprehended at Bergamo airport near Milan late Wednesday after presenting Austrian and Norwegian passports but answering only to Arabic, the Eco di Bergamo daily said.

They had been trying to board a flight to Malta. Security officials who searched their mobile phones found photographs related to the jihadist IS group, it said.

The 30-year-old was also captured posing with a submachine gun, though he insisted it was a photograph of his cousin.

The younger man reportedly said he kept the images on his telephone in memory of his dead brother.

Italian security services have been on high alert following coordinated gun and suicide kabooms in Gay Paree last Friday claimed by IS, and warnings from the FBI over possible jihadist attacks at Italia's historical sites.

Israel says 55 Iranians killed in Syria's war
[AlAhram] Around 55 Iranian military personnel have been killed in Syria's civil war, Israeli intelligence believes, and a think-tank close to Israel's spy services said the toll is undermining support among Iranians for Iran's actions in Syria.

While formally neutral on the four-year-old insurgency in the next-door Arab state, Israel has sought to raise alarm abroad about support given to Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
by Israel's arch-foe Iran and Hezbollah guerrillas from Leb.

With Russian forces also now weighing in on Assad's side, some Israeli media have carried unsourced reports presenting the de-facto axis between Moscow, Iran, Hezbollah and the Syrian army as plagued by poor coordination and battlefield losses.

Speaking to Rooters, a senior Israeli military officer cited Israeli intelligence findings that "55-plus" Iranian personnel had been killed in festivities with Syrian rebels, in addition to a Hezbollah corpse count he put at between 1,000 and 2,000.

Tehran denies having any military forces in Syria, but says it has dispatched advisers to help Assad's army fight "terrorist groups". Hezbollah has not published a figure for its losses.

Israel's Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center said in a report that 53 Iranians, including elite troops and senior officers, had been killed in Syria as of Nov. 15.

The think-tank, which is located next to the headquarters of Israel's main foreign spy services and draws staff from them, said the Iranian public appeared to be increasingly questioning the wisdom of its actions in Syria.

That has prompted Tehran to emphasise the importance of protecting Shi'ite Muslim shrines there from Sunni rebels and of shoring up Assad as a strategic asset, the think tank said.

"There are even demands to investigate the rising losses, suggesting the Iranian public regards with great scepticism the official Iranian claim that the Iranian presence in Syria is made up solely of 'advisers' and that Iranian forces are not actively involved in ground combat," its 54-page report said.

Hossein Salami, deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, last month sought to play down the force's losses.

"To give effective advice, the Revolutionary Guards advisers have to visit the front lines in Syria to become familiar with the reality of the battlefields," he told Iranian state TV.

"How could they help the Syrian army effectively by sitting in a room? The corpse count of Iranians is not high."

A regional security source who declined to be identified by name or nationality said that, at its peak, the Iranian force deployed in Syria was made up of 1,800 personnel but that number had since been reduced to 1,300.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had called for the current deployment to be halved but was coming up against opposition from hardliners in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the source added, declining to say where this information came from.

Kurdish commander: Syrian Democratic Forces prepared to liberate Syria
[ARA News] SERE KANIYE – Hussein Kocher, leading member of Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and a prominent commander in the Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said their forces are determined to “liberate the whole Syrian soil from Deash (ISIS) terrorists”.

“At this sensitive phase, we (Kurds) have put hands in hands with our Arab and Christian brothers and established the Syrian Democratic Forces in order to eliminate the terror group of Deash,” Kocher said in an exclusive interview with ARA News.

Kocher added that all freedom-fighters in Syria should unify in the face of the current challenges, emphasizing that several rebel groups have caused damage to the Syrian social fabric.

“While these forces were claiming to fight for freedom and democracy in the country, they have apparently caused a lot of damage and distortion to the Syrian uprising,” he said. “They looted, killed, and raped on Syria’s soil.”

The Kurdish commander reiterated on a force founded on the basis of liberating the entire soil of Syria.

“After having announced the SDF, we soon launched a large-sacle military campaign against terrorists (Islamic State group “ISIS”) in Syria’s northeast,” he argued.

“We will also seek to change the worn-out Syrian regime,” Kocher told ARA News.

“Over more than four years, the Kurdish YPG and YPJ forces are locked in fierce battles with ISIS terrorists defending Rojava (Syrian Kurdish region),” he said, pointing out “many honorable non-Kurdish military groups stood by our side.”

“The Arab tribal force of as-Sanadeed, the rebel group of Burkan al-Furat and at-Tahreer group of the Free Syrian army (FSA) are fighting on our side against the barbaric Daesh group.”

“It is time to liberate the entire soil of Syria from the fascist regime as well,” he insisted.

“Starting the battle for al-Hawl town in Hasakah province was the first step towards the liberation of Syria and its people from the radical and suppressive groups.”

“After the liberation of Hasakah countryside, all social components of the region are invited to join the SDF in a bid to liberate the entire Syrian soil,” Kocher concluded.

Over the past few days, the Syrian Democratic Forces recaptured some 200 villages and towns in the countryside of Hasakah, including the key town of al-Hawl which has been liberated on Friday with the support of the U.S.-led coalition. After losing al-Hawl, ISIS’s military and economic situation may deteriorate due to the cut of a main supply route between the group’s strongholds in Syria and Iraq.

Africa North
Egypt, Russia sign Dabaa nuclear plant deal
[AlAhram] Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi oversaw the signing of the first Egyptian nuclear plant deal between Egypt and Russia on Thursday.

El-Sisi said that the new power plant will consist of "four third-generation reactors," describing them as the most up-to-date reactors that have been innovated.

El-Sisi also said that the project is "peaceful" and aims to produce electricity.

Sergey Kiriyenko, the head of Russia's state-owned nuclear firm Rosatomalong, along with a Russian delegation, signed the Dabaa nuclear plant deal with the Egyptian government in Cairo's Ittihadeya palace.

First nuclear plant
"The Dabaa nuclear plant will be the largest Russian-Egyptian project since the Aswan dam," Kiriyenko told the media on Thursday referring to the High dam built in the 60s. "It will mark a truly new chapter in the history of our bilateral relations."

"The plant will make Egypt the regional leader in the field of nuclear technologies and the only country in the region that will have a generation 3+ plant," he added.

The plant, expected to be constructed within 12 years, will consist of four nuclear power units, 1,200 megawatt (MW) each.

In a televised speech following the signature of the deal, the Egyptian president said that the cost of the station would be covered by a loan that will last for 35 years through the period of the production of electricity from the Dabaa station.

The Egyptian president also made clear that Egypt is committed to the international conventions prohibiting proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear plants.

El-Sisi stressed that the project is 'for peaceful purposes' and highlighted that Egypt has always had the "dream of a peaceful nuclear programme."

"This project marks the first step towards our future plans that will entitle us to cooperate more in the nuclear industry with other countries," El-Sisi said.

All countries in the Middle East, excluding Israel, are parties to the 1970 nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty,
... and we've seen how well that restrained Iran...
whose 191 signatories have agreed to nuclear disarmament for countries with nuclear weapons, non-proliferation in those that don't have them, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy everywhere.

Egypt put forth the idea for a weapons-of-mass-destruction-free zone in the Middle East in 1990 and has frequently since then called for nuclear disarmament and the elimination of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.

The plant will be located at an existing nuclear site in Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast, west of Alexandria.

Russia will join anti ISIS coalition if they say nice things about Assad
Moscow: Russia is ready to work with the Western coalition fighting Daesh if its members respect Syria’s sovereignty, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday.

“We... are ready for practical cooperation with those countries which are part of the coalition and are ready to develop with them such forms of coordination that of course would respect Syria’s sovereignty and the prerogatives of the Syrian leadership,” Lavrov said in an interview with state-run Radio of Russia.

“I am convinced that such forms can be found if we take a pragmatic approach.”

Russia first launched air strikes on Syria in September at the request of its long-standing ally President Bashar Assad, while a US-led coalition of countries opposed to the Syrian strongman is conducting a separate air campaign against Daesh.

In the aftermath of the Paris attacks, French President Francois Hollande called this week for a broad anti-Daesh coalition, echoing an earlier call made by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the UN General Assembly in September.
Hollande said he would next week discuss his proposal with US President Barack Obama and Putin, who has ordered his navy in the Mediterranean to establish contact with its French counterparts and work together “as allies.”

Putin has been seeking to capitalize on shifting dynamics in the West following the Paris carnage and the bombing of a Russian passenger plane over Sinai in October, arguing that Russia and the West should unite against a common enemy.

Lavrov said he first detected a change in the Western position after Putin called for a broad coalition to fight the Daesh militants in Syria and praised Hollande’s decision to reach out to Putin.

“Right now sensible politicians are putting secondary things aside and understand that it’s necessary to focus attention on the priority: to prevent efforts by Daesh to conquer positions on the huge territory on Earth,” he said.

Lavrov reiterated Russia’s traditional stance that Assad protected the interests of “a significant part of Syrian society” therefore it would not be possible to reach a settlement “without his participation.”

“Our Western partners realized the lack of prospects for the approach that many of them had taken,” Russia’s top diplomat said, referring to the insistence in the West that Assad should immediately step down.

He also praised signs of rapprochement between Russia and the West following months of tensions over Ukraine. “Our Western partners have put some formats on ice,” he said, referring to venues such as the NATO-Russia Council.

“But this process is already returning to normal, the work of these mechanisms is resuming.”

Yahya Rashid paid £906 (1,300 euros, $1,400) for himself and four friends to travel to the Turkish border town of Gaziantep in February.

He stayed in an IS safe house but shortly before he was due to cross into Syria, he changed his mind and returned to Istanbul.

Rashid, aged 18 at the time, was then detained by Turkish police and deported back to Britannia, where he was placed in durance vile

Police believe his traveling companions did cross into Syria and are still there.

Rashid, whose family is originally from Somalia, was sentenced to five years in a youth offenders' institution Wednesday for terrorism offenses.

"You told the jury you had never held a gun in your life and there is no reason to believe that is untrue," Judge Philip Katz told Rashid as he passed sentence.

"But goodness knows what you would have gone on to do as a foot soldier of ISIS" (another term for IS).

Rashid's lawyer Mark McDonald insisted his client had wanted to live in an "Islamic utopia" but not fight.

Putin 'sending 150,000 soldiers to Syria to WIPE OUT evil Islamic State'
[Express] VLADIMIR Putin is preparing to send 150,000 troops to Syria in a bid to wipe out the evil Islamic State once and for all as he hints at joining the West following the Paris attacks.

The Russian leader is reportedly mounting an enormous military mission to take control of the terror group's stronghold of Raqqa. The city is the self-declared capital of ISIS in Syria and is patrolled by as many as 5,000 jihadi members.

Putin is set to mobilise 150,000 reservists who he conscripted into the military in September.
He can send them; can he supply them?
Yesterday, following the Paris attacks, Putin hinted he was ready to join forces with the West to tackle Islamic State.

He told David Cameron: "The recent tragic events in France show that we should join efforts in preventing terror."

I guess youknowwho got what he wanted, no US troops in Syria and ISIS gets a major ass-kicking. What is there not to like with that scenario??? Like maybe I am not sure our administration really knows what a major Russian presence plus a butt load of troops means to the ME.

Might better approve Keystone because if you piss off Vlad you might not get any heating oil this winter if he has his way.

In the meantime we should watch our back side. If it wasn't the IS then it would be some other Mo group trying to kill westerners. The West should sit back and watch the show. (And protect it's borders). If the EU or USA joins the Russians on the ground they are fools.

Murder of Two Bosnian Army Members is Likely 'Terrorist Act'
[AnNahar] A man who killed two members of Bosnia's armed forces in Sarajevo was linked to Islamist circles and almost certainly committed a "terrorist act," a minister said Thursday.

The pair were killed on Wednesday night when a man attacked them with automatic weapons near a barracks in Sarajevo before blowing himself up, police said.

"Based on elements that we have gathered since last night, it is almost certain that this is a terrorist act," Deputy Defence Minister Emir Suljagic told national radio.

He said the perpetrators were "certainly linked with people of radical religious convictions and that is certainly where we should look for the motivation for this attack," he said.

Dozens of coppers from special forces were dispatched to the scene after the attack in a betting shop in a suburb of the Bosnian capital.

They then trapped the killer, a 34-year-old man inside a house, where he went kaboom! at around midnight (2300 GMT).

Police front man Irfan Nefic said two military personnel were killed in the attack, and a bus driver and two passengers were also injured by broken glass when the assailant shot at a bus as he left the scene.

A spokeswoman for Bosnia's anti-terror agency SIPA, Kristina Jozic, told Agence La Belle France Presse that "elements that have been collected so far in this case indicate that there are some elements of terrorism".

Leading Bosnian newspapers on Thursday quoted witnesses claiming that the attacker shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) before opening fire.

"When the police surrounded the house, an kaboom rang out. They found the corpse of a man who had killed himself inside the house," police official Vehid Cosic told media after the attack.

Muslims make up about 40 percent of Bosnia's 3.8 million people while the rest of the Balkan country's population is mostly Serbian Orthodox or Catholic.

The vast majority of Bosnian Muslims are moderates but a tiny minority openly support radical Wahhabism.

Last year a 24-year-old Bosnian Islamist killed a policeman and injured two others when he attacked a cop shoppe in the eastern city of Zvornik with a shotgun, before being shot.

Syrian rebel group says studying local ceasefire proposal
A powerful Syrian insurgent group said on Thursday it was studying a local ceasefire proposal tabled by an international mediator aimed at halting fighting near Damascus.

Islam Alloush, spokesman for the Jaish al-Islam group, told Reuters the ceasefire proposal had been presented by the mediator to the former head of a sharia board that operates in rebel-held areas, who in turn had presented it to rebel groups and civilian organisations in the opposition-held area.

“We, in Jaish al-Islam, are studying the subject in the leadership council,” Alloush told Reuters, speaking via a web-based messaging system. He declined to give further details.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group that monitors the war, earlier reported the failure of negotiations aimed at achieved a local ceasefire between rebels and government forces in the Eastern Ghouta near Damascus.

Assad rules out ‘transition’ in Syria until ‘defeating terrorism’

has ruled out elections to choose his successor until "defeating terrorism," emphasizing that no timetable can be agreed before then.

The official SANA news agency quoted him as saying in an interview with Italian TV that a political process can be envisaged probably after a two-year period.

"This timetable starts after starting defeating terrorism," Assad told the RAI UNO television in response to a date for elections.

"Before that, there will be no point in deciding any timetable, because you cannot achieve anything politically while you have the turbans taking over many areas in Syria," he said.

"If we talk after that, one year and a half to two years is enough for any transition," he added. "It won't take more than two years."
"In other words, half past never. In the meantime, don't you have some jihadis to hunt down before they shoot up another city?"
Last week in Vienna, 19 countries that included Assad's allies set a January 1 deadline for the start of peace talks.

The agreement calls for a ceasefire to a war that is in its fifth year, to be agreed by May 14, 2016 and for free elections to be held a year later.

The Syrian government or opposition were not invited to the Vienna meeting.
Because that's the very best way to get someone to agree with your dumb ideas. And then President Assad started throwing things against the wall in the hope that something would stick:
Assad also added that Syria should not be blamed for the rise of Islamic bad boy groups such as al-Qaeda or the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (ISIS).

"Al Qaeda was created by the Americans with the help of Saudi Wahabi money and ideology, and of course, many other officials said the same in the United States," he said.

"ISIS and al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
, they are offshoots of Al Qaeda. Regarding ISIS, it started in Iraq, it was established in Iraq in 2006, and the leader was al-Zarqawi who was killed by the American forces then," he added.

"It was established under the American supervision in Iraq, and the leader of ISIS today, who is called His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
, he was in the American prisons, and he was put in New York in their prisons, and he was released by them. So, it wasn't in Syria, it didn't start in Syria, it started in Iraq, and it started before that in Afghanistan," he added.

[AnNahar] The United States issued a $5 million reward Wednesday for information leading to the capture of a Saudi-born jihadist accused of smuggling imported muscle into Syria.

The State Department said that Tirad al-Jarba, known under the nom de guerre Abu Muhammad al-Shimali, is a senior member of the Islamic State

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Daesh determined to produce chemical weapons
Daesh is aggressively pursuing development of chemical weapons, setting up a branch dedicated to research and experiments with the help of scientists from Iraq, Syria and elsewhere in the region, according to Iraqi and U.S. intelligence officials.

Their quest raises an alarming scenario for the West, given the determination to strike major cities that the group showed with its bloody attack last week in Paris. On Thursday, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls warned that extremists might at some point use chemical or biological weapons.

"Terrorism hit France not because of what it is doing in Iraq and Syria ... but for what it is," Valls told the lower house of Parliament. "We know that there could also be a risk of chemical or biological weapons," he added, though he did not talk of a specific threat.

U.S. intelligence officials don't believe Daesh has the capability to develop sophisticated weapons like nerve gas that are most suited for a terrorist attack on a civilian target. So far the group has used mustard gas on the battlefield in Iraq and Syria.
How sophisticated do they have to be? Mustard gas works well as a terror and area-denying weapon.
But Iraqi officials expressed concern that the large safe haven the extremists control since overrunning parts of Iraq and Syria last year has left Iraqi authorities largely in the dark over Daesh's program.

"They now have complete freedom to select locations for their labs and production sites and have a wide range of experts, both civilians and military, to aid them," a senior Iraqi intelligence official told The Associated Press.

So far, the only overt sign of the group's chemical weapons program has been the apparent use of mustard gas against Iraqi Kurdish fighters and in Syria. In mortars that hit Kurdish forces in northern Iraq earlier this year, preliminary tests by the U.S. showed traces of the chemical agent sulfur mustard.

Iraqi authorities clearly fear the use could be expanded. Over the summer, Iraq's military distributed gas masks to troops deployed west and north of Baghdad, one general told the AP. A senior officer in Salahuddin province, north of Baghdad, said 25 percent of the troops deployed there were equipped with masks.

More recently, Iraq's military received from Russia 1,000 protective suits against chemical attacks, said Hakim Al Zamili, the head of the Iraqi parliament's security and defense committee.

Daesh has set up a branch tasked with pursuing chemical weapons, according to a senior Iraqi military intelligence officer and two officials from another Iraqi intelligence agency. Al Zamili, citing intelligence reports he has access to, told the AP that the group has managed to attract chemical experts from abroad as well as Iraqi experts, including ones who once worked for Saddam Hussein's now-dissolved Military Industrialization Authority. The foreigners include experts from Chechnya and southeast Asia, the Iraqi intelligence officials said.
The chemistry is just not that hard. If you can make insecticide you can make nerve agents. The issues are scaling production up and then having a reliable delivery system.
Daesh recently moved its research labs, experts and materials from Iraq to "secured locations" inside Syria, Al Zamili added - apparently out of concern of an eventual assault on Mosul.

"Daesh is working very seriously to reach production of chemical weapons, particularly nerve gas," Al Zamili said, using an Arabic acronym for the group. "That would threaten not just Iraq but the whole world."

#1  Chemical weapons are not that hard and there is almost no controls on acquiring precursors.

As for a reliable delivery system. A backpack would work just fine.

I'd avoid any underground railways.

10 killed in fighting for key Yemen province
[AlAhram] Yemeni pro-government forces advancing into the strategic province of Taez were battling rebels on the outskirts of its second largest town on Thursday, military sources said.

Eight rebels and two loyalists were killed in the fighting for Rahida, the pro-government sources said.

The town lies on the main road from government-held territory towards Taez, Yemen's third largest city, 40 kilometres (25 miles) further north, where loyalist troops have been besieged by the rebels for months.

Loyalist forces were backed by significant reinforcements from a Saudi-led coalition which intervened in support of President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi in March.

Hadi returned from Saudi exile on Tuesday as the offensive against the Huthi Iranian catspaws and their allies got under way.

The coalition carried out at least 10 air strikes against rebel positions in and around Rahida during the night, the military sources said.

Breaking the siege of Taez is seen as crucial for the recapture of other central provinces and opening the way to the rebel-held capital Sanaa further north.

It is also important for securing the south, where loyalists have retaken five provinces from the rebels since July, including second city Aden, where Hadi has set up base.

In their advance out of the south, pro-government forces have also been battling the rebels in Marib province east of the capital.

Hundreds of reinforcements were deployed to the province on Thursday, equipped with dozens of military vehicles newly arrived from neighbouring Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, military sources said.

Loyalists control Marib city, 140 kilometres (90 miles) from Sanaa, but they have so far failed to secure the rest of the province, which is the source of much of Yemen's oil output.

The latest reinforcements came as Saudi Arabia's regional rival Iran called on all sides in the conflict to join UN-sponsored peace talks in Geneva later this month.

Tehran accused Riyadh of deepening the conflict with its military intervention against the rebels.

According to United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
, more than 5,700 people have been killed since the intervention began in March, nearly half of them civilians.

BBC: Paris attacks: 'Ringleader' killed in St-Denis raid
The suspected ringleader of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, was among those killed in a French police raid on Wednesday, prosecutors say.

They confirmed the Islamic State (IS) militant had died in a flat in the Paris suburb of Saint Denis.

His body was found riddled with bullets and shrapnel in the apartment. The 28-year-old was identified from his fingerprints.
The BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris says the identification of Abaaoud raises serious questions for security services.

He was high on French and Belgian wanted lists and yet managed to travel from Syria to the heart of Paris without ever leaving a trace.

Al Ahram adds:
Even Abdelhamid Abaaoud's own family prayed for his death, and on Thursday they got their wish when the Belgian jihadist behind the Gay Paree attacks was confirmed killed in a French police raid.

His female cousin was reported to have blown herself up.

Abaaoud was a one-time school bully and petty criminal from the Brussels immigrant district of Molenbeek who graduated to become a leading Islamic State

hard boy with ties to a series of plots in Europe.

The effect on his family was profound, with his sister Yasmina telling Phlegmish newspapers last year that "we can only pray that he is really dead" after it was -- mistakenly -- reported that he was killed in Syria.
The Times of Israel reports that cousin was a troubled party girl until about six months ago, when she suddenly started wearing a niqab.

#1  From a purely statistical point of view, if you have 1.5 Billion Muslims and any good estimate of the extent of serious mental health problems is about 2.5%, that means about 37,500,000 seriously deranged Muslims floating around out there...quite a labor pool for ISIS and probably a pretty good description of the demographic that supplies most of the cannon fodder.

Morocco Helps France Dismantle Terror Cell in St-Denis
Morocco played a key role in the fight against terrorism. It provided French security services valuable intelligence that helped them locate another deadly terror cell that slipped the police net after the series of attacks committed in Paris last Friday.

Thanks to Moroccan tip-off, the French police launched a dawn raid on a squat in the Paris suburb of Saint Denis and foiled an attack on the city’s business district. After engaging in a violent exchange of fire with the heavily armed terrorists, the French police killed two suspects including the ringleader of the Paris terror attack, Abdelhamid Abaaoud.

Aged 27, Abaaoud, is an Isis member from Molenbeek, Belgium. He was sentenced to 20 years in abstentia along with 32 other jihadists. He was behind four of six foiled attacks since spring. French security services did not know he was at home, while CIA said he was killed in a strike in Syria.

Some press reports have said lately that Moroccan intelligence agents flew to Paris at the request of their French counterparts to help in the investigation. And it appears that their input was vital and helped solve the puzzle.

Morocco’s counter-terrorism has proven again its efficiency in thwarting terror threats at home and overseas. Early this week, the Home department of the North African country announced the arrest of four Isis members who were planning terrorist attacks in Morocco.

According to some analysts, the Moroccan strategy to fight terrorism is based on global approach including prevention, anticipation, education, rehabilitation, eradication of terrorism roots and international cooperation.

Morocco is an active member of the Global Counter-terrorism Forum (GCTF) which seeks to reduce the vulnerability of people to terrorism by effectively preventing, combating and prosecuting terrorist acts as well as countering incitement and recruitment to terrorism. The Forum is committed to strengthening international cooperation and pooling expertise and resources to address civilian-focused counterterrorism priorities.

The district was overrun by Taliban in June but after about two weeks they were pushed back and government forces retook control of the seized areas.
Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said 120 insurgents, including six commanders among them a Tajikistan national, were killed in the operation.

Yamgan is bordering Wardouj and Dara-e-Khastak districts where reportedly Taliban have a strong presence and from there they plan attacks on other areas of Badakhshan.

Israel says 90 percent of Syria's ballistic missiles used up on rebels
Something comforting amid all the tales of terror and woe:
[Ynet] Syria has used up more than 90 percent of its ballistic missiles against rebels during a more than four-year-old civil war but a few were transferred to Hezbollah guerrillas in neighbouring Leb, a senior Israeli military officer said on Wednesday.

Israel, which is expanding its high-altitude Arrow air defence system with US help, has been keeping an eye on Syria's Scud-type missiles as well as Iran's long-range Shehabs as potential threats. "The number of (Syrian) ballistic missiles left is less than 10 percent," a senior Israeli officer told Rooters on condition of anonmity, but added: "That could still change. They could start making them again."

More Bahrain troops land in Yemen
A second batch of Bahrain troops has arrived in Aden to work as part of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition working to restore the legitimate government in Yemen. Brigadier Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Guards in the Kingdom of Bahrain, praised the high moral of the officers and servicemen and their pride in working with their Yemeni brethren in restoring the legitimate government.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said that landmines planted by Yemeni rebels in an effort to halt the advance of pro-government forces are exacting a mounting toll on civilians.

"Landmines have killed at least 12 people and wounded over nine," the HRW said, adding that the real casualty toll "may be much higher".

"The Houthis are killing and maiming civilians with landmines," HRW's arms director Steve Goose said.

Attacks in southern Thailand leave seven injured
[Bangkok Post] Seven people were hurt on Thursday in unrelated attacks in two provinces in southern Thailand.

In Narathiwat, six rangers were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded this afternoon. Members of the 11th Rangers Regiment were returning to their base in Waeng district when a home-made bomb about 20 meters away detonated.

Earlier in Yala, a security guard was shot and seriously injured in a daylight attack at a school-guard booth in Yaha district. Abrohem Masae and two other security volunteers were on guard when the attack occurred. A truck with four men on board stopped in front of the booth near the school's fence. They pretended to ask for directions, causing Mr Abrohem to leave the booth. After he did so, one of the men drew a gun and fired.

The attack caused Mr Abrohem's fellow security guards to exit the booth and return fire, but their rifles jammed. They immediately ran into the school. The assailants fired at them from their truck. Students panicked amid the hail of bullets, but escaped unharmed.

Champ gives 500 Army majors pink slips.
[Truth and Action] Earlier this month, the Army said that at least 48 of the 1,100 captains handed "pink slips" had been serving in Afghanistan.

Campbell spoke at an off-camera briefing with reporters that was his last as vice chief at the Pentagon. He was taking a brief leave before reporting to Afghanistan later this month to replace Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford as ISAF commander.

Immediately following Campbell's briefing, the Army put out a release stating that majors receiving notices who are now serving in Afghanistan or other areas overseas "will be returned to the United States within 30 days of their notification to begin their transition from active duty and ensure they have the maximum time and resources available for a successful transition."

The cutbacks were part of the Army's plan "to draw down its end-strength to 490,000 active-component soldiers by the end of Fiscal Year 2015," the statement said.

The so-called "hit list" for the 500 majors was determined by decisions of recent Officer Separation Boards and Enhanced Selective Retirement Boards, the Army said.

The Army suggested that more cuts were coming: "As a result of future budget restrictions previously passed by Congress, the active Army will further reduce its end-strength by 20,000 Soldiers in both 2016 and 2017" to an Army force of about 450,000, the Army statement said.

Campbell said there were opportunities for majors transitioning out of the active-duty service to take positions in the Reserves and the National Guard.

The Army also pointed to the new "Shifting Gears" partnership of the Army, Raytheon and General Motors to allow transitioning troops to receive training and possibly be placed in service technician jobs at GM dealerships.

#1  TOMMY

WENT into a public 'ouse to get a pint o'beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, ``We serve no red-coats here.''
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:

O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' ``Tommy, go away'';
But it's ``Thank you, Mister Atkins,'' when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's ``Thank you, Mr. Atkins,'' when the band begins to play.

I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music 'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' ``Tommy, wait outside'';
But it's ``Special train for Atkins'' when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's ``Special train for Atkins'' when the trooper's on the tide.

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.

Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' ``Tommy how's yer soul?''
But it's ``Thin red line of 'eroes'' when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's ``Thin red line of 'eroes'' when the drums begin to roll.

We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints:
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;

While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an ``Tommy, fall be'ind,''
But it's ``Please to walk in front, sir,'' when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's ``Please to walk in front, sir,'' when there's trouble in the wind.

You talk o' better food for us, an'schools, an' fires an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.

For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' ``Chuck him out, the brute!''
But it's ``Saviour of 'is country,'' when the guns begin to shoot;
Yes it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
But Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool--you bet that Tommy sees!

And another thing to remember might include that when you joined the military it wasn't for the big money then or the safety involved it was because perhaps ( just a little ) it was where you felt you could do the most for a Country you wanted to serve. And now you suspect the Country really doesn't like you, or respect you...and may ( just a little ) regard you as un-needed garbage ( just a little ).
And not to forget how the MS Media pictures you and the Democrats have always backed you and praised you. Democrats have made it very clear how they like and trust you, yeah? Democrats are always in a hurry to bugger off and leave your sorry ass hanging. Or am I wrong?

And when Obama salutes you with a white styrofoam coffee cup ( he really MEANS it. ) But maybe you will be much happier selling appliances or making your quota in Linoleum sales instead of commanding a Battalion. Who knows.

Plane to Egypt lands in Bulgaria after bomb threat
A plane taking 161 tourists from Poland to Egypt landed in Bulgaria and was being checked for explosives after a passenger said there was a bomb on board, Bulgarian and Polish officials said Thursday.

Georgy Tchipilsky, head of the airport in Burgas, said the Airbus A320 en route from Warsaw to the holiday resort of Hurghada requested an emergency landing due to a bomb threat and touched down in Burgas at 5:48 am local time. The flight was operated by Lithuanian charter airline Small Planet. Tchipilsky said a 67-year-old Polish passenger who said there was a bomb on the plane was being questioned by the police. Tchipilsky could not immediately confirm reports that the man said he had been drinking on the flight.

Polish Vice Consul Jakub Lasinski said on TVN24 he was assured by Bulgarian authorities that the situation is "under full control." There were no reports of any explosives being found.

Passenger Agata Pinuszewska told TVN24 by phone that armed Bulgarian officers burst into the plane at Burgas airport shouting at the man "Where is the bomb?" He was then led out and the other passengers were asked to leave the plane.

Pinuszewska said the passengers were waiting at the airport for another plane to come from Warsaw and take them to Hurghada.

Nine arrests in Brussels linked to Paris attacks: Prosecutor
[AlAhram] Belgian police tossed in the calaboose
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
nine people in Brussels on Thursday during raids connected to last week's deadly Gay Paree attacks, prosecutors said.

Seven people were "taken in for further investigation" during six raids linked to French national stadium bomber Bilal Hadfi, the federal prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The other two arrests were also linked to last Friday's attacks, the federal prosecutor's office said in a statement.

Many of the raids were in the largely immigrant area of Molenbeek, where Gay Paree attacks ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud and two brothers linked to the attacks, Brahim and Salah Abdeslam, came from.

But there were also raids in the upscale Brussels suburbs of Uccle and Laeken.

Prosecutors said they would give more details on how long the suspects would be held on Friday.

Syrian troops suffer skin disease
War is hell in both big and little things.
[ARA News] DAMASCUS – Battling militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) near the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), Dozens of soldiers of the Syrian army were reportedly infected with skin diseases, a source close to the Syrian army reported.

“Dozens of Syrian troops have been infected with leishmaniasis, amid lack of treatment,” the source told ARA News on the condition of anonymity.

“It is difficult to transfer those infected into medical centers in the regime-held areas due to their large numbers. They are currently blocked in the desert suburbs near Palmya,” he said.

The source pointed out the soldiers called on their military leadership to immediately send them medical teams for treatment.

“If the situation is not contained, the entire army would face the fate of those infected,” he argued, pointing out “we will definitely face defeat before the enemy (in reference to ISIS).”

The treatment of leishmaniasis disease is only available in official departments of the health ministry in the provinces, “so coordination is needed to deliver medicines to the army troops on the fighting fronts across Syria,” a medical source told ARA News.

“By now, there are campaigns underway in the coastal province of Tartus to deliver the needed medicine to the army’s infected soldiers on Palmyra’s fighting front,” the source added.

The regular army has made advances on the front of Palmyra during the past few weeks, especially in the towns of al-Kassarat and al-Tamthil west of the city of Palmyra, recapturing cellular tower of Syriatel and Muthallath Tadmur area in the eastern countryside of Homs, central Syria, after clashes with ISIS militants.

The leishmaniasis is spread in the areas that lack services or full of garbage and dirt because of the proliferation of sand fly, the major holder of the diseaseــ which can cause significant deformations if the infected did not quickly receive treatment.

The ancient city of Palmyra fell to ISIS militants last May subsequent to fierce battles with Syrian army forces.

group has grabbed credit for shooting and wounding an Italian priest in Bangladesh this week, according to a notice released Thursday by the SITE Intelligence Group.

"Security detachments of soldiers of the Caliphate in Bangladesh carried out some unique operations (including)... Targeting the Italian Crusader foreigner Piero Parolari," the jihadist monitoring organization SITE quoted IS as saying.

Parolari, who worked as a priest and a doctor at Suihari Catholic Mission in the northern city of Dinajpur, was shot by three gunnies on a cycle of violence on Wednesday.

It follows the murders in recent weeks of an Italian faith-based aid worker and a Japanese farmer, in attacks also claimed by IS group.

"Unless we can find out who has actually executed the operations, we can't say who or which group was behind the attack," Dinajpur police chief Ruhul Amin told AFP.

The attack bore "some similarities with the previous attacks on foreigners," he added.

All three of the recent attacks on foreigners involved gunnies riding on cycle of violences.

Bangladesh authorities have previously said there is no evidence that Islamic State turbans are active in the country.

"Last night, the US-led coalition warplanes bombed ISIS bases and positions on the Gwer front, causing casualties among the group's Death Eaters," a Peshmerga official told Rudaw on condition of anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The source also said that "four ISIS forces of Evil were hunted down in Arclight airstrikes in the village of Tal Aswad on the Gwer front."

According to Peshmerga officials, there were separate assaults launched by ISIS on Wednesday. No Peshmerga casualties were reported.

Peshmerga forces reportedly defeated two consecutive assaults from ISIS near djinn-infested Mosul

"At 8 p.m. sharp, several ISIS forces of Evil launched an assault to capture stockades of the Peshmerga at the heights of Aski Mosul on the western Dijla front," Captain Nawzad Barwari, a Peshmerga offical on the front, told Rudaw by phone.

"The Peshmerga fiercely repulsed the assault, killing several Death Eaters," he said.

Misratans freed by Ghneiwa as Ghariani tells them to quit Tripoli
All 54 Misratans seized in Tripoli on Tuesday by gunmen loyal to Abu Sleem militia boss Abdul Ghani Kilki (aka Ghneiwa) were released last night. In return, Misratan forces handed over five of his men they seized the previous day when they attacked a house in Hadba district, allegedly being used as a prison by him.

The deal was hammered out during negotiations in the capital involving representatives from the municipal and military councils of Abu Sleem, Misrata and Kikla. Misrata’s mayor Mohamed Ishtewie was one of the negotiators.

The Misratans, who were randomly grabbed from their cars when yesterday when Ghneiwa’s men set up roadblocks across the city, were released some hours apart in two batches of 27 people.

As part of the deal, the six men discovered at the house by the Misratans and who were alleged to have been kidnapped and held for ransom were handed over to the public prosecutor for investigation rather than being freed.

Gneiwa is reported to have demanded that they be handed back to him.

The deal is seen in Tripoli as a victory for him, reinforcing his growing power, and a major setback for Misrata, the second in just over a fortnight. On 2 November, Misratan forces were unable to protect the Prime Ministry building when it was attacked by Ghneiwa’s ally, Haitham Tajouri.

Misrata’s weak spot is now seen as its many people resident in the capital and who can be abducted by Tripoli militia leaders such as Ghneiwa for political purposes.

Despite the freeing of the 54 Misratans and the removal of the roadblocks, there is still tension still in Tripoli and a widespread belief that there will be further clashes involving them and local militias.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani, the Tripoli regime’s grand mufti, has followed the lead of local militia leaders and demanded that Misratan forces quit the capital. On the Tanasah TV station of his Dar Al-Ifta (Fatwa House), he compared the Misratans to the Zintanis, whom he has regularly labelled as traitors. Zintan’s Sawaq Brigade had been kicked out of the city, he said, but now there was a new Sawaq Brigade which likewise had to go.

Two days ago, 11 Tripoli militia leaders signed a statement demanding Misratan forces leave Tripoli.

Afghanistan
ISIS in Afghanistan indoctrinates children as young as 3
The loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terror group in Afghanistan are training children as young as 3-year-old as they are looking to expand their foothold in the country.

The harrowing fact regarding the use of kids as new recruits in Afghanistan has been revealed in a news documentary series which aired by PBS this week.

The “Frontline” Documentary has been prepared by Najibullah Quraishi, the journalist behind “ISIS in Afghanistan”. He has returned with footage of militants training children as young as 3 in the terror tactics used by the group.

An ISIS loyalist is seen conducting a grim lesson in one scene after herding a ragtag group of boys and girls into a room (girls are ordered to sit in back).

“What is this word?” he says, and answers his own question: “Jihad”, with the children repeating the same word.

The militant is later seen saying “God says do jihad until intrigue, idolatry and infidelity are gone from the world.”

Telling a boy to stand up, he asks “What is this?” indicating his rifle. The child then replies saying the weapon and continues explaining the use of it, saying it will be used to defend the faith by hitting the heads of the (Kafir) infidels.

The fighter then continues to show a hand grenade to the child, saying “This is a hand grenade, meaning hand bomb” with the child repeating the same word “Hand bomb”.

He is also handing an unloaded gun to a boy, coaching him to “fire it from a standing position.” One by one, the other boys (no girls, it must be said) handle the weapon.

Earlier another report was released on the recruitment and brainwashing of Afghan children by ISIS loyalists in Afghanistan.

The report released earlier this month stated that the children were trained to become suicide bombers and ground fighters.

According to the report, the trainings included use of pistols, AK-47 assault rifles and hand grenades which were provided by ISIS instructors to children between 13 to 14 years of age in the restive eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Daesh executes Chinese, Norwegian hostages
Daesh said Wednesday it has executed a Chinese and a Norwegian hostage, two months after it had demanded a ransom for the pair's release.
Taking hostages is traditional. Either someone pays a ransom to get them back, or they become chew toys to amuse the lads.
The group's English-language Dabiq magazine featured graphic photos of two bloodied bodies that appeared to be Chinese hostage Fan Jinghui and Norwegian Ole-Johan Grimsgaard-Oftsad. The bodies were pictured adjacent to photos of the blindfolded captives apparently taken just before their execution.

It was unclear how they were killed, but their heads were bloodied by apparent gunshot wounds.

The magazine's cover photo featured what appeared to be French aid workers at the scene of Friday's bomb and gun attacks in Paris that killed 129 people and were claimed by Daesh.

It has used its magazine and other media arms to publicise its gruesome murders, including the beheadings of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, US aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig and others.

The Chinese and Norwegian hostages were last featured in the magazine's September edition, in which Daesh asked for an unspecified ransom for their release.

Neither that edition nor the one released on Wednesday gave details about where or when the men were captured, held or killed.

The Chinese national was a 50-year-old consultant and the Norwegian, 48, was connected with a university in Trondheim.

In September, Grimsgaard-Ofstad's family said it was unable to pay the ransom asked by Daesh and appealed to his hostage-takers to release him. The Norwegian government ruled out paying for his release, with Foreign Minister Borge Brende saying it was "out of the question for Norway to pay a ransom."

Norwegian authorities said Grimsgaard-Ofstad was abducted January shortly after his arrival in Syria.

And China's foreign ministry acknowledged in September that Daesh was probably holding one of its citizens.

Europe
Hungary Orders Deportation of British Muslim 'Hate Preacher'
[AnNahar] A Hungarian judge ordered on Thursday the deportation to Britannia of two British nationals who spent time in jail for financing terrorism and who were detained trying to enter Romania.

Trevor Brooks, 44, also known as Abu Izzadeen, a Muslim activist dubbed a "hate preacher" by the British press, and Simon Keeler, 40, were not allowed to leave Britannia without permission.
It would appear new protocols are called for.
Hungarian police apprehended the pair on Saturday on a train on the Hungary-Romanian border because they did not have correct documentation and later realized they were subject to European arrest warrants.

Both men, appearing in separate hearings in Budapest flanked by armed guards on Thursday, were incarcerated
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
for financing terrorism and were released in 2009.

It was unclear what the planned final destination of the men had been, with Hungarian media speculating that they intended to travel to Syria via Bulgaria and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
.

Keeler told judge Eva Varhegyi he was on his way to Turkey to join his family, and that security measures imposed against him in London were "too tough."

Russian Heavy Bombers Fly Huge Raid in Syria
Twenty bombs? You call that an air strike? THIS is an air strike:
Nov. 17, Russia sent nearly 40 heavy bombers and escorting fighter jets on a massive air raid in Syria. Moscow has now showed off almost all of its aerial arsenal in strikes in the embattled Middle Eastern country.

Flying from bases in Russia, 25 Tu-160, Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 bombers launched more than 30 cruise missiles and dropped dumb bombs on targets in Idlib and Aleppo provinces. A dozen Su-34 and Su-27SM fighter jets escorted the bombers on their mission.

"The targets destroyed include command posts that were used to coordinate ISIL activities [and] munition and supply depots in the northwestern part of Syria," chief of the Russian General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov said, using a common acronym for the Islamic State terrorist group.

Strategic bombers flying out of Russia. I think they're serious.

#1  ISIS is regretting pissing in Putin's Cheerios now.

On a side note, how do you effective defeat an enemy that wants to die? Much like the Japanese in WWII, ISIS and other Muslim Jihadis seek death because of the alleged rewards on the other side, so if killing them is what they want, how do you not give them what they want and win?? Or do you give them what they want on a Biblical scale and depopulate the region?

Certainly ISIS doesn't have an air force, so who might they be protecting the bombers from? Or is this just a standard precaution because nobody is particularly trustworthy or smart in that particular combat area.

Also, I believe the Geneva conventions only apply when both sides both signed and are following the protocols. ISIS wasn't around and they certainly aren't following Geneva protocols from what I can tell.

FDA approves genetically modified salmon in agency first
[Guardian] This marks the first engineered animal product to be approved for sale although GM food such as soy and corn are already available.

The production and consumption of genetically engineered salmon has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, marking the first time that a genetically modified animal product has been cleared for sale in the US.

The FDA said that it has approved the salmon, produced by Massachusetts-based firm AquaBounty Technologies, "based on sound science and a comprehensive review" that found the product was safe for US consumers. While GM food such as soy and corn are already available, this will be the first engineered animal product to be approved for sale.

The federal regulator has stipulated that the salmon may only be raised in land-based, secure hatcheries in Panama and Canada, which it will monitor. However, the US will be off limits for the breeding and raising of salmon.

DoD Bans Military & Civilian Employee Travel to Paris
[PJ Media] It's been a year of terror attacks, and now tourism to Paris takes a major blow:

Unofficial travel to Paris is prohibited -- including leave, liberty and special pass -- and includes a 50-kilometer radius around the city. The travel restriction, implemented in the aftermath of Friday's deadly attacks in Paris, applies to all Defense Department personnel, according to a statement from U.S. European Command.

Personnel on official travel or emergency leave to Paris or elsewhere in France will need approval from a general officer, according to EUCOM. In addition, DoD personnel who wish to go on unofficial travel elsewhere in France will also need approval from a general officer, according to EUCOM.

The US European Command press release adds that "at this time, these travel restrictions are indefinite" and that they apply to "military personnel, DoD civilian employees, contractors and command-sponsored dependents and family members."

#4  Might depend on where the lamp post is and for whom the rope is intended. Rantburg seems rightly very conscientious about that sort of thing. But I still think if the offending accounts, web sites, tweets or whatever come from a foreign country our government would be within its sovereign rights to block said tweet or, in the case of countries like Syria, to block the whole frickin' country. And if they come from this country the FBI might wanna look into it.

And as long as you've got me started I'd block all of China just because they're such prolific hackers.

Afghanistan
6 die in Kandahar gun fights
Five attackers, including a suicide bomber, have been killed and a soldier of Afghan National Army (ANA) embraced martyrdom in attack on Arghandab District of southern Kandahar province.

Kandahar Media and Information Center (KMIC) writes in post on its “facebook” page that the attack was launched by a suicide bomber around 07:00 am in the morning.

According to the information released, the suicide bomber had a “Townace” vehicle laden with explosives and detonated it in front of the police HQ of Arghandab District to remove barricades.

Afterwards, four other militants start exchanging fire with security forces and get killed.

A soldier embraced martyrdom in the clash, the statement adds.

“4 hell-deserved terrorists were killed by security forces after attacking one of the joint security gates of Arghandab District of Kandahar this morning,” states a Thursday morning twitter post by the ministry’s spokesperson Sediq Sediqi.

Kandahar is the birthplace and stronghold of Taliban in southern part of the country.

group executed five men it described as spies in Iraq's Anbar province, west of the capital, according to photos posted online.

The photos show the barefoot men dressed in orange jumpsuits kneeling in a street as a crowd of people, many of them apparently turbans, look on.

Black-clad men wearing balaclavas are then pictured shooting them with pistols.

The photos were said to have been taken in Anbar, where security forces are battling to regain ground from the turbans, especially around historic provincial capital Ramadi, which the Death Eaters seized in May.

But no precise location was given, and the authenticity of the images could not be independently confirmed.

Afghanistan
Security Forces Vow To Clear Yamgan in Badakhshan
Ministries of Interior and Defense have vowed to retake the embattled Yamgan district of Badakhshan in the near future.

Ministry of Defense said troops, both ground and air, are ready to launch a large-scale military operation in the district.

Dawlat Waziri, MoD spokesman, said: "Security forces are at war with militants positioned in different areas."

"The militants' war is organized and managed by foreigners and they are equipped and trained from abroad. Between 6 to 7 out of 10 militants are foreigners."

Meanwhile the head of the internal security commission of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) Mirdad Najrabi urged government to ensure it has a proper plan to maintain security in areas that have been cleared.

Najrabi said: "All the security responsibilities are being shouldered by Afghan security forces. Meanwhile, militants are trying their best to make use of this.

The Interior Ministry said Yamgan district will be cleared of Taliban and security will be ensured in this part of Badakhshan.

MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said they have new plans to suppress militants in different parts of the country – also in Badakhshan.

Despite winter being on its way, troops are currently fighting insurgents in 13 provinces.

The air force has meanwhile carried out 70 flights for transportation and military purposes over the past 24 hours.

Europe
Four Balkan states shut their borders to economic migrants, Sweden runs out of room
[Hurriyet] Four states along Europe's Balkan refugee corridor shut their borders on Nov. 19 to those not coming from war-torn countries such as Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq, leaving thousands of others seeking a better life in Europe stranded at border crossings.

The overnight decision was exactly the domino effect that both asylum-seekers and European nations had feared would happen given the record number of people fleeing to Europe this year and new fears after the deadly Gay Paree attacks of possible gunnies coming in with refugees.

The U.N. refugee agency says three Balkan countries shut their borders overnight to migrants from nations that are not directly engulfed in war.

Macedonia was not allowing in from Greece people from Morocco, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Liberia, Congo or Pakistain, the UNHCR spokeswoman in Serbia, Melita Sunjic, said on Nov. 19. Slovenia also said it has closed its border for the so-called economic migrants, while the Slovenian Defense Ministry said it planned to call up about 200 of a total of 914 army reservists to help control the influx.

On the Serbian border with Macedonia, the Serbs were only letting in migrants from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. And on the Croatia-Serbia border, Croats were only accepting people from those three countries plus Paleostine, she said.

Serbia has turned back to Macedonia some 200 migrants and Macedonia has not let them in, she said. "So they are stuck on a no man's land," she told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Croatia's Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said the country has refused to take back 162 people, who were rejected by neighboring Slovenia as economic migrants.

Ostojic said on Nov. 19 that Croatia also will no longer allow in migrants from war-free countries who wish to pass through on their way toward Western Europe. He says Croatia has informed Serbia and Macedonia down the so-called migrant route, that "it is now obvious they will not be able to pass."

In the Greek border area of Idomeni, police said the border has essentially been shut down to all since about 8 a.m. on Nov. 19 after roughly 300 people, mostly from Iran, gathered at the crossing seeking to also be allowed through. A further 2,500 people are waiting at a camp nearby that provides temporary shelter for those heading north through the Balkans.

The partial closure of the borders could trigger huge pileups of desperate people along the Balkan corridor that has seen hundreds of thousands of people cross as they head to wealthy EU states, mostly Germany. Although Syrians are the biggest group among the asylum-seekers, tens of thousands of people fleeing poverty, such as Paks, Bangladeshis or Sri Lankans, have also joined the surge.
...almost all of whom have real or forged Syrian passports in one of the same four names.
Serbian Labor Minister Aleksandar Vulin on Nov. 19 blamed EU-members Slovenia and Croatia for the ban, saying they have started turning back economic migrants, those fleeing poverty, not war.

"We have to protect our country. That is why we have applied reciprocal measures toward the people Slovenia and Croatia have no room for," Vulin said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
EU interior ministers are to agree on Nov. 20 to tighten checks at the external borders of the passport-free Schengen area to boost security after the attacks in Gay Paree that killed 129 people, a draft document seen by Rooters shows.

Ministers will agree to "implement immediately the necessary systematic and coordinated checks at external borders, including on individuals enjoying the right of free movement," the draft conclusions of their meeting says.

Sweden says can no longer house all refugees arriving

[AlAhram] Sweden, a favourite destination for refugees flooding into Europe, can no longer house all those arriving and many will have to find their own accommodation, the country's migration agency said on Thursday.

Sweden has already imposed temporary border controls in response to the record influx of refugees, while authorities plan to shelter thousands of people in heated tents as well as venues such as ski resorts and a theme park.

But now even these options have run out.

"We have entered a new phase where the migration agency no longer can provide housing for all. We don't have enough beds," its operating officer Michael Ribbenvik said in a statement.

The agency said it would continue to search for additional housing and give priority to families with children.

Sweden has taken in more asylum seekers per capita than any other European country over the last few years. Up to 190,000 refugees are expected to arrive this year, a record for the wealthy Nordic nation of 10 million people.

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven has called the situation unsustainable Almost 10,000 refugees have applied for asylum in the last seven days alone and close to 140,000 have arrived so far this year.

Italy, Sweden, Germany take action against threat of militant attacks
People are awfully nervous for some reason.
[AlAhram] Police in Italy and Sweden tried to track down suspected militants and increased security around public buildings on Thursday after receiving reports that attacks might be planned on their soil following last week's mass killings in Paris.

Italy's foreign minister said possible attacks could be aimed at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome or the cathedral or La Scala theatre in Milan. In Stockholm, police stepped up their presence around the parliament and main railway stations.

Both countries were on a high state of alert to guard against any possible attack.

Rome's underground train operator temporarily closed lines on three separate occasions during the day due to suspicious packages, which all proved to be false alarms.

Milan's top city authorities said after a meeting with police officials that there was "no specific evidence of an imminent danger for the city of Milan," but security measures remained at their "maximum level."

In Germany, Bild newspaper reported that a group of attackers had planned to set off multiple explosives in Hanover stadium at Tuesday night's friendly soccer match between Germany and the Netherlands, and to detonate a bomb in the city centre.

Swedish security services said they had concrete information about a possible attack on the country, days after the Islamist militant attacks in Paris that killed 129 people.

Swedish police were searching for a suspect identified as Mutar Muthanna Majid and distributed a grainy picture of a smiling, bearded young man dressed in dark clothing.

Tabloid Expressen said Majid was a member of Islamic State. The news agency TT and newspaper Aftonbladet both quoted anonymous sources as saying he is part of a bigger group of accomplices currently in or on their way to Sweden. A police spokesman would not comment on the report.

Police raised their presence at public and strategic locations around the country, including government buildings, foreign embassies and some media outlets.

Fewer people than normal were using trains and subways in the capital.

"I don't recognise my Stockholm," Camilla Kvartoft, a news anchor at public television station SVT, tweeted.

The president of Sweden's council of Jewish communities, Lena Posner Korosi, said evening activities such as sports training for youths were cancelled in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo after discussions with police.

Over the last few years, Sweden has participated in NATO missions in Afghanistan and is training Kurdish forces in Iraq, moves that have changed its traditional image of neutrality.

In Rome, Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said security forces were working to identify five people suspected of planning possible attacks.

The US Embassy in Rome said in a message to its citizens that big tourist sites, churches, synagogues, restaurants, theatres and hotels in Italy's two main cities might be targets.

It urged Americans to be vigilant as militant groups "may possibly utilise similar methods used in the recent Paris attacks". There was no suggestion from authorities that the threat encompassed plans for a specific attack.

Gentiloni said Italy was ready to help its "French brothers" in the fight against Islamic State but rejected the possibility of the Western coalition sending ground troops into Syria.

"No one is going to put boots on the ground in Syria, not (French President Francois) Hollande, nor Obama, nor us," he said.

Like much of Europe, Italy is reluctant to join France and the United States in conducting air strikes over Syria because, without an express request from a government it recognises, it considers the legal justification uncertain.

GERMANY THREAT

Germany's Bild said it had obtained a copy of a document by the domestic intelligence service that detailed how attackers planned to set off several explosives in the stadium in Hanover, as well as a bomb in the city centre, during Tuesday's international soccer match. Chancellor Angela Merkel had been due to attend the game, which was called off.

The attackers planned to smuggle the explosives into the stadium in an ambulance, Bild cited the document as saying. After midnight, another attack was planned at Hanover railway station.

Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told a news conference: "The indications were so concentrated that calling off the match was unavoidable. Whether the indications were a real threat, or just an indication, we don't know."

In the event, the authorities said they found no explosives at the stadium.

Meanwhile European Union interior ministers are to agree on Friday to tighten checks at the external borders of the passport-free Schengen area to boost security after the Paris attacks, a draft document seen by Reuters showed.

Ministers will agree to "implement immediately the necessary systematic and coordinated checks at external borders, including on individuals enjoying the right of free movement", the draft conclusions of their meeting says.

The document reflects France's request to strengthen controls at the external borders of the 26-nation Schengen area, of which most EU countries are members.

#1  According to The Times of Israel, Sweden got their man:

Swedish police on Thursday arrested a man suspected of plotting a “terrorist attack” after a two-day manhunt, as the country steps up security after last week’s carnage in Paris.

Iraqi Mutar Muthanna Majid was apprehended during an afternoon raid on a center for asylum seekers in the northeastern city of Boliden without incident, according to security services.

Authorities had issued an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Majid, who local media said was suspected to have fought in Syria, for preparing a “terrorist” attack.

“The arrest took place in a calm manner” and investigators are planning to interrogate the suspect, Sweden’s intelligence agency, Sapo, said in a statement.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Five civilians murdered in day of terror
Lads just having their little fun on the Muslim weekend.
[Ynet] After a relative lull in attacks, terror returned to the streets of Israel and claimed the lives of five victims in two attacks, one outside a Tel Aviv synagogue and the other on a road in the West Bank.

Five non-combatants were killed in two terrorist attacks in Tel Aviv and the West Bank on Thursday in the deadliest day of terror yet to strike the country during the current violent escalation began in October.

The first incident took place just outside a synagogue in the Panorama building on Ben Tzvi Boulevard in Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon. According to witness reports, a terrorist armed with a knife attacked the first victim, who managed to stumble into the synagogue after being stabbed. Other worshippers managed to close the door as the attacker attempted to follow the maimed victim in. The assailant then proceeded to stab several people in the building, killing two Israelis --Reuven Aviram, 51, and Aharon Yesiav, 32, and leaving two others maimed.

Yesiav lived in Holon and worked at a store in the building. He was a father of five, the youngest of whom was born four months ago. He went to pray before the attack and witnesses told his father that he protected other worshippers: "He was the one who saved the people and shielded them with his body from the stabber."

Aviram, 51, from Ramle, was killed while praying. His only son Uriel, 25, found out about his father's death after he saw his body on the ground in a video he received on whatsapp. "He was a humble man, who was taken from us before his time," his son said.

The assailant, a 36-year-old resident of Dura near Hebron, with no criminal record, was seriously maimed and was taken into custody.

Less than three hours later, an Uzi-wielding Paleostinian terrorist killed three people and injured several others after he drove his car onto the shoulder on the congested road leading from Alon Shvut to Gush Etzion junction. The terrorist took advantage of a traffic jam, bypassed several cars, and then shot up the vehicles. The terrorist managed to murder three people in his attack: 18-year-old American volunteer Ezra Schwartz, Yaakov Don, 49, and Shadi Arafa, 40, a Paleostinian citizen of Hebron.

Schwartz was part of a group of Yeshiva volunteers from Bet Shemesh, who travelled to the area in order to hand out food to soldiers. The group was on its way back home before the attack took place. Schwartz came to Israel as part of a program in which young people come to Israel for nine months of volunteer work.

Don, the son of holocaust survivors. and a doctoral student for education technology at Haifa University, had previously served as an educational envoy, was a resident of Alon Shvut, and a father of four.

Arafa, 24, was from the village of Dir Samat near Hebron. The Paleostinian Health Ministry, an official PA body, later released a notice starting that Shadi Arafa was killed by Israeli forces. However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
the terrorist was captured, not shot, and it was not clear whether Israeli forces had even fired shots. Arafa's body was set to be transferred to the PA on Thursday night.

Yuval Lasri, who overpowered the terrorist at the scene, said: "I stood in the traffic jam and heard gunfire. The terrorist rammed a car behind me. I got out of my car, pushed his gun away and threw him on the ground. I didn't shoot at him because I wasn't sure that he was the terrorist, but then I saw the gun next to him and understood that he was."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said of the attack: "The murderous terror has struck Gush Etzion and Tel Aviv. My heart is with the families of the murdered and I send my wishes for a speedy recovery to the maimed.

"Whoever condemned the attacks in La Belle France needs to condemn the attacks in Israel. It's the same terror. Whoever does not do this is a hypocrite and blind," the prime minister concluded.

Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, released a statement praising the attack, connecting it to the fact that Israel still holds the bodies of several recent Paleostinian attackers who were killed by security forces.

The cell's Lebanese chief, identified as Osama Mohammed Khayat, confessed that he raised funds and provided logistical support for the group, which has carried out deadly attacks in Leb and La Belle France in the past week, the ministry said.

He acted as coordinator for the IS in Kuwait and arranged arms deals and FN6 portable air defense systems from Ukraine, which were shipped to IS in Syria through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

eight others to between two and 15 years for assisting the Saudi bomber.

An appeals court is to issue its verdict in the case on December 13.

Earlier this month, Kuwait's lower court sentenced five men to 10 years in jail each for raising funds for IS.

They were charged with raising about 400,000 Kuwaiti dinars ($1.3 million) and sending it to IS, which has seized control of large parts of Syria and Iraq and carried out attacks throughout the Middle East.

Over the past year, Kuwaiti courts have issued several rulings against IS supporters.
