America's Toughest Lady Spy Laid to Rest
[Daily Beast] ARLINGTON, Va. -- Stephanie Czech Rader’s friends and family gathered Wednesday morning at the Old Post Chapel, next to Arlington National Cemetery, to pay her one last honor.

Shortly after guests began to arrive, a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by 8 soldiers from the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Regiment carried Rader’s casket, draped with the U.S. flag, to section 11 of the cemetery for her internment. There are around 30 funerals every day at Arlington. Few receive an honorary flyover, as Rader’s did, along with a military band, a firing party, and a bugler.

But in addition to those full military burial honors, Rader was bestowed with an award 70 years in the making--the Legion of Merit, among the military’s highest recognitions for bravery and exceptional service.

Rader worked as an intelligence operative for the Office of Strategic Services, the predecessor of the CIA, in post-WWII Poland. She was only one of two Polish speaking OSS officers in the country and was routinely sent on undercover missions to track Russian troop movements and transport sensitive documents.

Rader’s superior officers had nominated for her for the award in 1946. But the military bureaucracy of the time apparently didn’t think her service merited distinction.

Today, the powers that be say otherwise. There was "no legitimate reason why this commendation was denied, other than the pervasive gender discrimination which existed in the early days of the American intelligence community right after World War II," Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, Rader’s home state, said last month in announcing that the Army had decided to grant the award. Warner intervened on Rader’s behalf after her friends mounted a campaign to get her the award, even if it came seven decades late.

The Legion of Merit was formally presented at Rader’s funeral.

"Stephanie chose the life of a warrior," said U.S. Army Capt. Azande Sasa, the presiding chaplain at the ceremony. "She has earned her place among those honored here."

Rader never asked to be recognized, and it took her many years to tell the story of her wartime service. As she recounted in an interview a few years ago, while working undercover Rader evaded Soviet agents while on a mission to transport sensitive documents. Had she been captured, she likely would have been arrested and never heard from again, Rader explained.

Ultimately, the military gave Rader a lesser award. "It was downgraded without any explanation," Charles Pinck, president of the OSS Society, told The Daily Beast. "They nominated her, but I don’t think there was anybody to fight on her behalf at the time."

Only recently did Rader’s friends and neighbors take up her case anew. Rader died in January, at age 100, but was aware of their efforts on her behalf.

Rader’s friends said they were overjoyed that their years-long effort culminated in a grand celebration of her life at the nation’s most prestigious burial ground.

Another reason it took so long to get there, said a close friend, Michael Golden, was that Rader could not describe exactly what she had done during her service because it had been a secret. OSS personnel records weren’t declassified until 2008.

#1  The country was different back then.

IIRC, it was powerful Femme member of Congress whom still argued during mid-war that God made women akin to angels, hence women had no place being in the Armed Forces or in service near combat zones.

AND SHE ARGUED HER BELIEF LOUDLY-N-PUBLICLY.

RIGHT OR WRONG, TOO MANY CONTEMPORARY POLITICOS LACK HER GUTS.

Why Liberals Are So Obsessed With Racism, Homosexuality and Transsexualism
[Townhall] Conservatives care about logic. Liberals care about emotion. Conservatives care about whether a program works or not. Liberals care about how supporting a program makes them feel. Conservatives take the positions they do because they believe they’re best for society. Liberals take the positions they do because they make them feel and look compassionate or superior to hold those positions.

Once you understand those basics, it's very easy to see why both sides hold the positions they do on most issues and to comprehend why there’s so little middle ground. Once you get the mentalities, you can predict where each side will come down on issues.

An extremely expensive program designed to help disadvantaged minority children read better that has been proven not to work? Liberals will support it and conservatives will oppose.

A program that cuts the deficit by cutting people off the welfare and disability rolls who don't belong there in the first place? Conservatives will support it and liberals will oppose.

A program called "Puppies for Orphans" that hands out "therapy dogs" to poor children at $100,000 per year in cost? Liberals will support it and conservatives will oppose.

The problem with all of this is that most of what passes for "compassion" with liberals isn't real compassion. There's a cost to real compassion and thus, a limit to it.

#2  I can't help but think of the 'if you see something say something' chestnut. After 70 + years of celebrating, championing, elevating and saluting every form of socially deviant behavior heretofore known to Man, what exactly do they intend you say to who? That is without being hounded by rabid SJW's.

#4  Completely wrong.

First of calling Liberal people that are the contrary of it.
If you can't understand the enemy, and that starts by naming it correctly you can't defeat them.

Second the Marxist Left cares nothing about racism, homon, trans, and it has nothing to do with "emotion"

It has to do with Power.
They are just tools at hand to desconstruct society values. Cultural change.

Change the culture to take power. Is that simple, does not matter for what culture is that change. Change is enough.

Scrotoplasty: No dirt biking or polo for a week to ten days
BLUF: [Telegraph] Pioneering the ball lift in the UK, along with the London Bridge Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Clinic, is the Bella Vou Pantiles Clinic which, of all places, is in Tunbridge Wells (a town clearly not, if you’ll excuse the pun, as uptight as reputation would have it). There, cosmetic plastic surgeon Amir Nakhdjevani performs 'scrotal uplifts' for around £2,800 a pop.

"It’s actually a very simple procedure, albeit a delicate one that very few cosmetic surgeons have experience of," says Bella Vou’s clinical director, Roger Bigwood. "Mr. Nakhdjevani is one of very few surgeons that offers this procedure in the UK."

It's not the first time the eyes of cosmetic surgeons and the beauty world have turned towards a man's scrotum. After George Clooney joked in an interview that he had had his balls 'ironed' ("It's the newest thing in Hollywood, ball ironing," he told Esquire in 2008) a Santa Monica spa actually created a treatment called the Male Laser Lift which smoothens out wrinkles and corrects uneven pigmentation. That, however, was a non-invasive procedure rather than a surgical one - think more a facial for your fellas.

#3  A woman found out that her dog ( a Schnauzer) could hardly hear, so she took it to the veterinarian.

The vet found that the problem was hair in the dog's ears. He cleaned both ears, and the dog could then hear fine. The vet then proceeded to tell the lady that, if she wanted to keep this from recurring, she should go to the drugstore and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month.

The lady went to the drugstore and bought some "Nair" hair remover. At the register, the pharmacist told her, "If you're going to use this under your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days."

The lady said, "I'm not using it under my arms."

The pharmacist said, "If you're using it on your legs, don't shave for a couple of days."

The lady replied, "I'm not using it on my legs either. If you must know, I'm using it on my Schnauzer."

The pharmacist says, "Well stay off your bicycle for about a week."

The 'Hildebeest University' Scandal No One In The Media Is Talking About
BLUF: [Gateway Pundit] In April 2015, Bill Clinton was forced to abruptly resign from his lucrative perch as honorary chancellor of Laureate Education, a for-profit college company. The reason for Clinton's immediate departure: Clinton Cash revealed, and Bloomberg confirmed, that Laureate funneled Bill Clinton $16.46 million over five years while Hillary Clinton’s State Dept. pumped at least $55 million to a group run by Laureate's founder and chairman, Douglas Becker, a man with strong ties to the Clinton Global Initiative. Laureate has donated between $1 million and $5 million (donations are reported in ranges, not exact amounts) to the Clinton Foundation. Progressive billionaire George Soros is also a Laureate financial backer.

Ex-Air Force colonel held hostage in Iran dies in Arizona
[Wash Times] SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Thomas E. Schaefer, a retired Air Force colonel who was the ranking military officer among the 52 Americans held hostage in Iran for 444 days before being released in 1981, has died in Arizona. He was 85.

David Schaefer said Friday that his father died of congestive heart failure Tuesday at a hospice in Scottsdale.

Schaefer was a military attache at the U.S. embassy in Tehran when militants seized the compound on Nov. 4, 1979, and 66 people were taken hostage.

From the first day of the takeover, Schaefer was singled out for special attention. As the ranking U.S. military officer in the embassy, he was accused of running a "nest of spies."

His captors paraded him blindfolded in front of television cameras and threatened repeatedly to put him on trial and execute him.

He spent 150 days in solitary confinement and began his captivity enduring 14 days of relentless interrogation in a freezing prison cell with damp floors and only a thin blanket for warmth.

'Dead Woman Walking': Paglia Slams Dowager Empress's 'Zombie' Campaign
[PJ Media] It’s zombie time at campaign Hillary. Behold the dead men walking! It was with strangely slow, narcotized numbness that the candidate and her phalanx of minions and mouthpieces responded to last week’s punishing report by the State Department’s Inspector General about her email security lapses. Do they truly believe, in the rosy alternate universe of Hillaryland, that they can lie their way out of this? Of course, they’re relying as usual on the increasingly restive mainstream media to do their dirty work for them. If it were a Republican in the crosshairs, Hillary’s shocking refusal to meet with the Inspector General (who interviewed all four of the other living Secretaries of State of the past two decades) would have been the lead item flagged in screaming headlines from coast to coast. Let’s face it--the genuinely innocent do not do pretzel twists like this to cover their asses.

There are fewer sharper critics of the American politico-cultural scene than Camille Paglia; that she generally comes to the wrong conclusions with her heart (she's a Sanders supporter), her head does formidable work nailing the candidates's strengths and weaknesses.

She's right about Hillary, of course. Mrs. Clinton is the worst, and least-qualified, major party candidate in eons: a career criminal whose flouting of the law and nose-thumbing at the American people are finally coming to the ignominious end she so richly deserves. And -- equal time! -- she's also spot-on regarding Donald Trump:

Communist Radical Angela Davis on Stopping Trump: 'We have to do whatever is necessary'
[Gateway Pundit] Activists around the world have long turned to Angela Davis for scholarly guidance when discussing systems of oppression and power.

This week in New York, the radical feminist activist issued a rallying cry to Americans: to avoid a Donald Trump presidency, "we have to do whatever is necessary."

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Davis became a household name in 1969 when she was removed from her teaching post at the University of California Los Angeles for social justice work and her affiliation with the Communist Party. She made the F.B.I.’s Ten Most Wanted list on false charges soon after, starting the 1970s with a 16-month incarceration and trial that sparked an international campaign when the world demanded that the United States government "Free Angela Davis."

Former California Governor Ronald Reagan swore then that the philosophy professor would never teach in the University of California system again.

Nine books and four decades later, a vocal Davis is now Distinguished Professor Emerita of History of Consciousness at U.C. Santa Cruz ‐ an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program the likes of which are only possible because of the radical scholarship she laid as groundwork.

The Greatest is gone at 74
Muhammad Ali, the silver-tongued boxer and civil rights champion who famously proclaimed himself "The Greatest" and then spent a lifetime living up to the billing, is dead.

Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News. He was 74.

"After a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening," Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News.

Ali had suffered for three decades from Parkinson's Disease, a progressive neurological condition that slowly robbed him of both his legendary verbal grace and his physical dexterity. A funeral service is planned in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

Even as his health declined, Ali did not shy from politics or controversy, releasing a statement in December criticizing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States. "We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda," he said.

#7  Here is Ali’s full statement from last December:

"I am a Muslim and there is nothing Islamic about killing innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world. True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic Jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion.

“We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda. They have alienated many from learning about Islam. True Muslims know or should know that it goes against our religion to try and force Islam on anybody.

“Speaking as someone who has never been accused of political correctness, I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's views on what Islam really is."

Germany Probes 180 over Suspected Jihadist Links
[An Nahar] German prosecutors have launched legal proceedings against 180 suspects linked to jihadist groups in Syria, the justice ministry said Friday, a day after police jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
three Syrians suspected of planning an attack.

"The chief prosecutor is currently carrying out 120 proceedings targeting 180 suspects in connection with the civil war in Syria, for their membership in, or backing of, a terrorist organization," said justice ministry front man Philip Scholz.

Separately, the interior ministry said there were "499 potentially dangerous individuals in the field of Islamist terrorism."

Federal prosecutors said Thursday police had broken up a suspected terror cell which was planning to carry out a suicide kaboom in the western city of Duesseldorf for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadist group.

Two attackers were allegedly planning to detonate boom jackets while the others were to kill passersby with guns and explosives on a major street in Duesseldorf, prosecutors said in a statement.

The suspects were identified as 27-year-old Hamza C., 25-year-old Mahood B., and Abd Arahman A. K., 31, who were arrested in the states of Brandenburg near Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Wurttemberg.

A fourth Syrian man, Saleh A., 25, had been in jug in La Belle France since turning himself in in February, they said, and Germany had now requested his extradition.

Saleh A. had gone to a cop shoppe in northern Gay Paree on February 1, telling officers that he had "a certain amount of information about a sleeper cell that was ready to strike in Germany," a French judicial source said.

He was held for four days and interrogated by anti-terrorist police.

"His statement led to investigations with German authorities which ... led to the arrest of these three suspects," the source added.

Saleh A. told French Sherlocks that 10 people were to carry out the terror plan, and that besides him and the three arrested in Germany, other members of the cell were to travel to Germany, German weekly Spiegel reported, quoting unnamed sources.

The suspect had been registered as an asylum seeker since October 16, 2013 in Kaarst, North Rhine-Westphalia, according to the city's spokeswoman.

He had turned himself in because he did not want his daughter to grow up knowing her father was a terrorist, according to the Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily.

Iraq
Over 1,000 Iraqi forces wounded in Fallujah
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] More than 1,000 members of the Iraqi forces have been maimed since the start of the operation to retake Fallujah from ISIS, a health official said Friday.

"We have received 1,119 maimed since the start of the operation," a senior Baghdad health official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"The maimed fighters were treated at Kadhimiya, Abu Ghraib, Al Karama, Al Karkh and Yarmuk hospitals," he said.

The official said the casualty toll included members of the army, police, counter-terrorism service and Hashed al-Shaabi paramilitary organization.

Iraqi forces on May 22-23 launched a vast offensive aimed at retaking the ISIS bastion of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
a city only 50 kilometres (30 miles) west of Baghdad that was the first to fall out of government control in 2014.

Iraqi military commanders are not divulging casualty figures.

The health official could not provide a figure for the number of fighters killed.

The bodies of the dead are usually taken to a morgue near Baghdad airport or other locations and then collected directly by the families.

The number of funerals held across the country however suggests the Fallujah battle is taking a high toll.

The coffins of at least 70 fighters killed in the Fallujah fighting had by Wednesday been brought to Najaf’s Valley of Peace cemetery, where many from Iraq’s Shiite majority bury their dead, according to a security source there.

Officials in Basra said the southern province had lost 26 fighters from the Hashed al-Shaabi force alone.

Commanders say that since elite forces backed by police and army moved to the fringes of the city centre, ISIS has put up fierce resistance.

Syria regime strikes kill 31 in and near Aleppo
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Regime bombing raids in and around the northern Syrian city of Aleppo killed 31 civilians Friday, including 10 when their bus was hit, the civil defense said.

"As well as the 10 civilians killed in strikes on the bus... 21 others died in intense strikes on several neighborhoods in the east of the city since dawn," the organization known as the White Helmets said.

An AFP correspondent in Aleppo said Friday's bombing raids were the most intense in more than a week, with dozens of barrel bombs -- crude, unguided bombs -- hitting several eastern quarters of the city.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported intense strikes on the Castello road -- a key rebel supply route out of divided Aleppo -- giving a toll of eight dead civilians.

A bus on the road was also hit on Wednesday, resulting in seven civilian deaths.

Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said the Castello road, which for civilians in rebel-held areas is the route out of Aleppo, was now "effectively cut".

"All movement is targeted, be that buses or bystanders," he said.

Abdel Rahman said rocket fire on government-held areas of the city overnight caused several casualties, but he was unable to provide an exact toll.

A truce agreed by Russia and the United States in February has been violated nearly continuously around Aleppo, where the regime and rebel groups have fought for control since 2012.

Protesters Demand Reform in Fresh Baghdad Demo
[An Nahar] Around 1,000 demonstrators gathered in central Baghdad Friday to demand an end to corruption and a government reshuffle, in the latest in a long string of weekly protests.

Unlike the previous week, no violence erupted between the massive deployment of security forces and the protesters, most of whom are supporters of holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
"We must keep up the pressure, this is the only way of getting the intended result: ending corruption and giving Iraq back to Iraqis," said Ali Chasseb, a taxi driver who came from the southern town of Amara for the protest.

Sadrist protests have twice led to breaches of the fortified Green Zone, where the country's top institutions are located.

The demonstrators want Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's plan to replace the government of party-affiliated ministers with a cabinet of technocrats to be implemented.

The move is being opposed however by many politicians, including within Abadi's own party, who want to preserve the patronage system that is their main source of power and wealth.

"Lebanese citizen Hassan Mohammed al-Fliti, 64, was killed and his son Mohammed, 39, was seriously maimed as they were heading to a cherry grove they own in the Jwar al-Sheikh area in Arsal's outskirts," state-run National News Agency reported.

It quoted the son as saying that "a rocket or a grenade" had went kaboom! near them.

The agency did not say where the shelling came from but noted that the region in which the two were hit lies in the middle of areas controlled by al-Nusra and Hizbullah.

Voice of Leb radio (100.5) had earlier reported Hizbullah-Nusra festivities in Arsal's outskirts, adding that the Lebanese army intelligence directorate was "making contacts for a ceasefire."

Future TV for its part said "al-Fliti died of his wounds after Hizbullah members shot up him in Arsal's outskirts."

The developments prompted al-Mustaqbal

group's bastion, commanders said.

An AFP photographer embedded with interior ministry SWAT teams said Iraqi forces had managed to enter the Shuhada neighborhood, on the southern edge of the city center.

"The security forces have advanced from Naimiya neighborhood to Shuhada," Lieutenant General Abdelwahab al-Saadi, the operation's overall commander, told AFP.

"The festivities between the security forces and ISIS members were fierce," said another officer, using an Arab acronym for IS.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the launch of an operation to retake Fallujah on May 23.

After an initial phase of shaping operations aimed at cutting off the jihadists' last supply lines, elite forces on May 30 attempted to enter Fallujah from three directions.

They have not pushed deep into the IS bastion however, slowed in their advance by tough resistance and widespread concern over the fate of 50,000 civilians believed to be trapped inside the city.

The Norwegian Refugee Council, which runs camps for displaced people south of the city, said Friday that an estimated 12,000 residents of the area have fled their homes since May 21.

None of them however were from the city center, where trapped civilians have little to eat, no safe water to drink and are at risk from intense shelling and bombardment.

Turkey Army Concludes Offensive in Kurdish Town
[An Nahar] The Turkish army on Friday completed a nearly three-month operation to eliminate the presence of outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) faceless myrmidons in a majority-Kurdish town in the southeast.

The military offensive in the town of Nusaybin in Mardin province, bordering Syria, began after authorities imposed a curfew on March 14, the private Dogan news agency reported.

A total of 495 PKK faceless myrmidons have been killed since then in Nusaybin alone, it said. It is not possible to independently verify the toll.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

has vowed to uproot the PKK, classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey and its Western allies, with so-called "clean-up" operations in several towns including Nusaybin and Yuksekova in nearby Hakkari province.

Activists have accused the security forces of causing huge destruction to urban centers and killing civilians. But the government says the operations are essential for public safety and the PKK is to blame for the damage.

In another development, seven Turkish soldiers were maimed Friday in an kaboom in the Diyarbakir province in the southeast, security sources said.

RI Official: Flying Old Glory from Trucks Makes Firefighters Look Like ISIS
[INSIDER.FOXNEWS] A local official reportedly told firefighters in Rhode Island that they should not fly the American flag from their trucks.

Fred Gralinski of the Central Coventry Fire District bizarrely compared it to ISIS flying its black flag while riding around in Iraq or Syria.

"They look like a bunch of yahoos," Gralinski said at a board meeting. "Like in the paper, like ISIS in Syria going to take over a city. I don’t think they need that big flag on the back of the truck. That’s not America to me. Those are a bunch of terrorists. So, I’m going to ask you to take the flag off that truck."

Gralinski later said through a front man that he chose his words poorly and apologized.

A firefighters union president said members are deeply disturbed by the request, saying some are former military. He said that in private, firefighters have been asked not to fly the flag.

A district front man says that a new policy requires firefighters to get approval before placing patriotic decals on trucks.

He added that the district is reviewing flag-flying protocol with the military.

Paris on Alert as Swollen Seine Reaches Peak Levels
[An Nahar] Paris' world-famous Louvre and Orsay museums shut on Friday to retrieve priceless artworks from their basements, as the swollen River Seine neared its highest level in three decades.

At least 14 people have been killed in floods that have wrought havoc in Europe after days of torrential rain, trapping people in their homes and forcing rescuers to row lifeboats down streets turned into rivers.

Parisians were urged to stay away from the Seine, which has burst its banks in places and rose more than six meters (19ft 8ins) above its normal level on Friday.

Authorities said the river could swell to "perhaps 6.5 meters (21 feet) in a worst-case scenario," comfortably beating the level reached during floods in 1982.

San Jose Brown Shirts attack Trump supporters with punches, eggs
[FOXNEWS] Protesters attacked Donald Trump supporters on the sidelines of a San Jose rally Thursday night, in a raucous scene where a dozen or more people were punched and at least one woman was pelted with an egg.

Protesters also reportedly grabbed Trump hats from supporters and set the hats on fire on the ground.

Police eventually moved into the crowd to break it up and make arrests. At least four people were taken into custody, though police didn't release total arrest figures Thursday night. One officer was assaulted, police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.

Mixed accounts emerged overnight over to what extent the Trump supporters were taunting the protesters. KTVU reported that the woman who got hit with an egg was "making gestures back at" the protesters. But the same report said the crowd of demonstrators had surrounded and trapped her at the time, and video of the incident appeared to support that account.

They should but they won't. They're trying to blame it on Trump. That's their strategy. As tempting as it is to respond with even more violence, my advice to Trump supporters is to keep cool. This could all be turned into a huge advantage in November with the right kind of TV advertisements showing Democrats behaving like Nazis while attempting to paint Trump as a Nazi. Over 100 migrant bodies washed up on Zuwara beaches
[Libya Herald] The Libyan Red Islamic Thingy has reported that 117 bodies have been washed up across 25 km of beaches of the western Libyan coastal city of Zuwara. The bodies include those of young children, reports Migrant Report.

MSF has today reported that a fat merchantman Aquarius has rescued 96 migrants colonists at sea off Libyan waters. These included 23 kids under the age of 18, including two under five.

Further east across the Mediterranean, a 20-meter boat with about 700 migrants colonists that had set off from the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria has capsized about 75 nautical miles south of Crete. Greek Coastguard had reported rescuing 342 migrants colonists. They also reported recovering four bodies.

This is the second incident in 2016 off Egypt after another boat had capsized in April which had departed from Egypt with an unconfirmed 500 deaths. The incident happened when two vessels, one from eastern Libya and one from Egypt, met at sea and an attempt to transfer migrants colonists from one boat to the other went catastrophically wrong.

The incident confirms fears by experts that there will be a surge of illegal migration attempts by sea from Libya and Egypt as a result of the EU-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
deal and subsequent closure of the Turkey/Balkan route.

It also confirms the increased sophistication and mobility of migrants colonists and the head smugglers as they are prepared to switch routes in reaction to anti-migration measures as well as use sophisticated navigation and mobiles to coordinate missions. Off Libya, rescuers confirmed to this publication that smugglers would phone them after sending boats into sea in order to rescue them.

Troops On The Trail Of Boko Haram Militants Hiding In Taraba -- Buratai
[INFORMATIONNG] The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai says the Army has gone after Boko Haram

turbans who fled Sambisa and were hiding in Taraba.

Buratai said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba, in continuation of his tour of Army formations in the state.

"Taraba has not been affected by this insurgency since it started except for the recent incidences that are related to Boko Haram especially as they are being pushed out of Borno," Buratai said.

"We strongly suspect some of them are currently parading themselves around this state; we are working on our intelligence and information from some good citizens.

"We are banking on support about their movement and we are equally tracking them so that we get them as soon as we can."

for 108 years on Friday for sexually abusing boys, in a case that has highlighted the vulnerability of child refugees.

The 29-year-old man did not deny the charges, but said many employees and managers in the camps were involved, Dogan News Agency reported. He said he paid the children 2-5 lira ($0.70-$1.70) before assaulting them in the toilets.

He was convicted of abusing eight Syrian boys whose families had filed complaints, the local bar association said. Local media said the families of other victims had kept quiet out of fear of deportation.

The case has caused widespread outrage in Turkey, which prides itself on its humanitarian response to the Syrian civil war, sheltering 2.7 million refugees. The camp, home to about 14,000 people, was visited by German Chancellor Angela Merkel

UN: Syria approves aid to 12 besieged areas
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syria has agreed to allow access for ground convoys to deliver aid to 12 besieged areas during the month of June, the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
said Friday.

Damascus has also agreed to restricted aid deliveries to three more areas but rejected requests for two others, the UN office of humanitarian affairs said.

The approvals came as the Security Council discussed UN plans to carry out airdrops of food and medicine to civilians trapped in areas under siege.

Some diplomats dismissed the move, saying such approvals had been granted in the past and failed to materialize on the ground.

According to the United Nations, a total of 592,000 people live under siege in Syria -- the majority surrounded by regime forces -- and another four million live in hard-to-reach areas.

Out of the total requests for access to 34 locations, 23 were approved in full, six were approved for some deliveries of medicine but not food, and five were rejected.

Damascus refused access to the besieged areas of Al Wa’er of Homs in western Syria and to the rebel-held city of Zabadani in the southwest.

It agreed to partial deliveries to Moadamiyeh, Daraya and Douma, which are besieged by regime forces.

UN aid chief Stephen O’Brien said Syria must grant full access to all areas in need of aid.

"We need to see full approval of the June plan for humanitarian access," O’Brien said in a statement after addressing the closed meeting of the council.

Coalition drops ammo to Syrian rebels fighting ISIS
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Coalition aircraft dropped ammunition to Syrian rebels fighting ISIS in northern Aleppo as they try to prevent the turbans from entering the town of Marea, a monitoring group said on Friday.
Wouldn't be better to drop the ammo directly on the heads of the ISIS gunnies?
"The coalition airplanes dropped, in the last 24 hours, ammunitions, light weapons and anti-tank weapons to rebels in Marea," Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

He said it was the first time the coalition had made such a drop to rebel fighters other than the Kurds, although a US defense official denied this.

The official confirmed the drops, but said they did not include light weapons or anti-tank weapons.

ISIS fighters swept through rebel-held territory in a shock offensive in Aleppo province late last month, cutting off the main road between Marea and Azaz -- two main rebels bastions in the province.

The ISIS advance forced thousands to flee towards the northern frontier with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
said it was "deeply concerned over the fate of an estimated 8,000 Syrians trapped by fighting around the towns of Marea and Sheikh Issa".

An unknown number of people are unable to flee due to fighting and the closure of the main road between Marea and Azaz, it added.

Morocco Takes Down ISIS Terror Ring
Rabat-The Moroccan Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) belonging to the national intelligence agency on Thursday announced dismantling an ISIS sleeper terrorist cell in each of the cities of Tétouan, Martil and Casablanca. The ring comprised six members.

Primary details confirm that the members are closely affiliated with ISIS off-shoot terrorists who are seeking a new foothold in Morocco, falling into the ISIS larger expansionist strategy implemented across Syria and Iraq.

According to a press release issued Thursday by the Moroccan Interior ministry, the captured ISIS members were planning to recruit local fighters who were to be sent to terror training camps before coming back to carry out attacks against soft targets and strategic sites in Morocco.

The schemed plan was to send members of this cell to one of ISIS’ camps to undergo military trainings and return to Morocco in order to commit specific terrorist operations, said the statement.

Last April, the BCIJ announced the arrest of three ISIS operatives who were planning to launch terrorist attacks and set up a terrorist local branch in Morocco.

Moroccan authorities are saving no efforts in their war against ISIS extremists. They have disrupted over 160 terror cells since 2002, and nearly forty over the past three years alone.

As the international coalition intensifies airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the extremist group started moving to North Africa and particularly to Libya where ISIS terrorists have bolstered their influence and presence.

Thursday’s suspects will be brought to justice after the completion of investigations led under the supervision of public prosecution.

On the other hand, Moroccan official Mohammed Saleh al-Tamek, speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first group of the « fourth layer prison guard » comprising 199 guards, revealed the difficulties facing the prison sector given the lack of employees with the increase in numbers of newfound prisons in the country.

All suspects in killing of Murree school teacher arrested: police
[DAWN] Police announced on Friday that all five suspects in the brutal killing of a 19-year-old school teacher who was tortured, doused with gasoline and set on fire earlier this week for refusing to marry a man twice her age are now in jug.

Before she died, Maria Bibi had given a statement to police, saying five attackers had stormed her house in the town of Upper Dewal on Monday, dragged her to an open area and kicked her as though she were a "football".

She was brought to a Islamabad hospital at death's door and later died. The attackers fled after the assault. Bibi's family has maintained that she was killed for rejecting a marriage proposal from a man who owned a school and wanted her to marry his son.

Police official Waheed Ahmed said on Friday that three more suspects in the case were placed in durance vile
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
early in the morning, following the two arrests made the day before.

He identified the prime suspect in the case as Shaukat, the owner of the school who is nearly 60 years old and whose son, a man about 40 years old and already married, was the intended groom.

"The unfortunate woman Maria Bibi in her statement insisted that Shaukat and four other men dragged her from the door of her home and tortured and burned her. We have arrested all the five men," Ahmed said.

Bibi's father Sadaqat Hussain Abbas praised the police for the arrests and asked the government in an emotional plea on Friday to execute the men in his family's presence in the same way they had killed Bibi.

Demands like this are common but Pak law doesn't allow for such punishment.

Top rebel commander wounded in Manbij
[ARA News] MANBIJ – Ranj Talabani, a member of the Kurdish Zaniyari intelligence organization, confirmed that FSA commander Abu Layla was heavily injured on Friday during clashes with ISIS militants in the Manbij operation.

Subsequent to his injury, the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) commander Abu Layla was reportedly moved to the city of Sulaymaniyah in Iraqi Kurdistan for treatment.

Speaking to ARA News, Kurdish journalist Mutlu Civiroglu, an expert on Syrian Kurds, confirmed that Abu Layla was brought by helicopter to Suleymaniyah.

“Abu Layla’s condition is severe, with internal bleeding to the brain, and doctors are unable to remove a bullet to the head. The FSA commander is now in Slemani’s [Suleymaniyah] ICU and his situation is still critical, doctors may go to surgery again. Waiting for updates,” Talabani, an intelligence officer in Iraqi Kurdistan, wrote on Twitter.

Abu Layla is the head of the FSA-linked Northern Sun Battalion, and is a leading member of the Manbij Military Council. He has been injured several times in the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS).

So far, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have not confirmed the news about Abu Layla’s injury.

“We are receiving SDF fighters for treatment in Slemani, regardless of whether they are Kurdish or Arab. Our unity will ensure ISIS defeat,” Talabani also said.

“Just spoke with SDF commanders on the Manbij front lines, spirits are high and Abu Layla has become a symbol of resistance and unity,” he added.

4 Bad Guys die in Quetta
Four suspected militants, including a key militant commander, were reportedly killed during an exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel in Quetta's Sariab road area on Friday evening.

Police said “two policemen were also injured during the exchange of fire that took place near an orchard on Sariab road”.

The exchange of fire took place after the miscreants allegedly opened fire at a police mobile patrolling the area, the police officials said.

Police retaliated timely and security personnel from other law enforcement agencies also joined them in the retaliatory operation against the miscreants — which lasted for around half-an-hour.

“Quetta chief of the defunct Jaish-ul-Islam group, Dr. Omair, was also among the suspects killed in the crossfire.”

Officials of the Anti Terrorist Force were also called in the area to apprehend the miscreants; however, two militants managed to escape unhurt from the spot, police said.

Security officials recovered weapons from the possession of the deceased suspects.

Afghanistan
Al-Qaeda Plans to Reignite Partnership With Taliban
And by reignite, they don't mean windy walks and candlelit dinners.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has said that al-Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan are plotting to reunite with the Taliban for a comeback.

The al-Qaeda affiliates by seeking partnership with the Taliban are trying to remain safe from U.S air strikes and to share rare terror tactics with the Taliban fighters, said a NATO official. However, the official said that al-Qaeda fighters and their backers will not be safe from Afghan security forces and their NATO counterparts.

In the wake of NATO's concerns about the security situation in Afghanistan, the alliance however has called for continued international support to local forces to thwart threats.

NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg has said that the alliance is committed to overcoming the ongoing challenges in Afghanistan that threatens the nation's stability.

"What we do in Afghanistan ...what we are aiming at doing more often and that is to project stability not by deploying NATO forces into combat operations, but by projecting stability by training local forces," said NATO chief Stoltenberg.

Apparently the US and NATO forces are concerned about a resurgence of al-Qaeda operatives and the Taliban.

"We think that they have tried to become closer to the Taliban, primarily because they recognize that if the Taliban can carve out some space, then al-Qaeda can move in under the Taliban and they have got some freedom from U.S strikes, they have got the freedom and the ability to plan that type of thing," said Brig. Gen. Charles Cleveland, deputy chief of staff for communications for Operation Resolute Support, the NATO mission in Afghanistan.‎‎

"We don't think that the Taliban would have cut their ties with other terrorist groups, they are already in touch with al-Qaeda, Haqqani network and other groups," MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said.

Meanwhile, a number of political analysts have said that sidelining the security threats in Afghanistan by the world community would have repercussions in future and Afghanistan must reassess its partnership with the world.

NATO statistics reveal that a number of al-Qaeda affiliates are present in Kunar, Paktika, Paktia and Kandahar provinces, but they are not able to launch major attacks on the west.

This comes at a time that the Afghan security forces are struggling against the Taliban and other terrorist groups on multiple fronts with the Afghan officials persistently asking international partners to leverage the process of mobilizing a strong and capable air power and deliver more weapons to the army of Afghanistan to battle the insurgents effectively on the battlefields.

Rebels capture 8 villages in Manbij operation
[ARA News] MANBIJ – Western-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Friday continued its operation for Manbij city against the Islamic State (ISIS), and recaptured new areas from the radical group, military sources reported.

The SDF operation for Manbij is led by the Manbij Military Council, formed by local fighters with the goal of liberating their areas from ISIS under the leadership of the SDF.

“The Manbij Military Council has liberated ten new villages from ISIS terrorists, including Tal Arish Shimali, Janoubi, Halloula, Khirbat Zimala, Khirbat al-Rous, al-Sagawi, Mustafa Hammadi and Joutha,” the SDF leadership stated to ARA News.

This progress comes after the SDF troops crossed to the western bank of the Euphrates River subsequent to bombing ISIS strongholds there. The Manbij operation continued on Friday with the support of the US-led coalition’s air cover.

“Dozens of ISIS jihadis were killed since the start of the Manbij military campaign,” SDF officer Habun Osman told ARA News, without going further details.

On Tuesday, the Kurdish-led SDF troops launched an operation to capture Manbij and it’s countryside from the extremist group of Islamic State (ISIS). The newly established city council of Manbij released a statement suggesting that the liberation is near.

Speaking to ARA News, US-led coalition spokesman Colonel Christopher Garver said that for the US “it’s critical that the ISIS-held Manbij pocket of 98-kilometers is seized from the radical group”.

“As to why the Manbij pocket is important, it represents a major border crossing point where foreign fighters can cross into Syria from Turkey,” Garver said.

One man's terrorist... The tragicomedy of Pakistan's apologists
[DAWN] Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) front man Naeemul Haque on Thursday defended his stance over calling Afghan Death Eater Mullah Mansour a 'martyr', who was killed in a dronezap in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
last week.

"Fighting to liberate your homeland is a just cause," Naeem told Dawn.com, a day after he spoke on a TV show and called the head of an outlawed group a 'martyr'.

This should also mean that Mr Haque finds the violence associated with the group equally liberating and just?

Also, exactly how is it any less liberating and just than the one related to similar groups within Pakistain. Groups which are now locked in a mortal tussle with the military and the government of Pakistain.

Men such as Mr Haque and many like him really can't be expected to think about such issues beyond the stuff which can only gain them an instant headline or two.

On the other hand, many other more thoughtful men and women have wondered what makes a perfectly normal looking person take a life (or lives) and sometimes his own; secure in a rather convoluted knowledge that his act is sure to place him in the good books of the Almighty or find him pleasurably loitering in the gardens of paradise.

Sociologists, psychologists and political scientists have all often come up with various explanations. Some suggest that bad economics is to be blamed for young people to become desperate enough to be exploited by the violent patrons of faith and go on a killing spree for money as well as God.

But then, there are also those who remind us that if it was all about economics, how would one explain acts of faith-driven terror undertaken by young men and women from well-to-do middle-class families?

Faisal Shahzad, Omar Saeed Sheikh, the 7/7 bombers in the UK, the men behind the gruesome Safoora Goth massacre -- all of these came from educated, urban and middle-class families.

In such cases, it is believed that the mad urge to kill in the name of faith transcends political and economic compulsions and becomes a sheer act of criminal psychosis.

Asia Dry Bulk-Capesize Rates Firming on Cargo Volumes
Freight rates for large capesize dry cargo ships on key Asian routes are likely to hold around current levels or nudge slightly higher next week on buoyant cargo volumes, likely supported by a raft of off-market charters, ship brokers said.

“The market is plodding along – it’s been a quiet week. It’s not going to change massively,” a Singapore-based capesize ship broker said on Thursday.

That came as capesize charter rates from Western Australia to China inched up this week, while freight rates from Brazil to China climbed to their highest since May 17, chartering data on the Reuters Eikon terminal showed.

“Charterers are slowly picking off ships. There is a lot of hidden tonnage and a lot of deals are being done under the table,” the broker said.

Average earnings for a 175,000 deadweight tonne (dwt) capesize ship are currently around $5,400 per day for a voyage from Western Australia to China and $9,000 per day from Brazil to China, according to data from shipping services firm Clarkson.

That compares with a 2016 average of $2,900 per day on the Australia-China route and $7,000 for Brazil-China.

Operating costs for a capesize vessel are around $7,200 per day, according to accountancy firm Moore Stephens.

“Freight rates have found support and keep firm, mainly due to a healthy volume of cargoes out of west coast Australia,” Norwegian ship broker Fearnley said on Wednesday.

“It is a slightly more positive atmosphere out there and the expectations are carefully optimistic.”

With charter rates barely covering operating costs, dry cargo shipowners need to adopt tough measures to achieve profitability by the end of the decade, ship owners’ lobby group BIMCO said on Tuesday.

“We need to demolish an enormous number of ships and refrain from building new ships. The medicine is not going to be easy to take,” said BIMCO President Philippe Louis-Dreyfus.

Dry cargo bulk carriers totalling 20.2 million dwt have been scrapped this year, up 56 percent on an annualised basis from 30.6 million dwt in 2015, Clarkson data showed.

Freight rates for Brazil-China rose to $8.46 per tonne on Wednesday, from $7.84 last week.

Capesize charter rates for Western Australia-China climbed to $4.31 per tonne on Wednesday, against $4.05 the same day last week.

Charter rates for smaller panamax vessels for a north Pacific round-trip voyage fell to $4,378 per day on Wednesday from $4,700 a week earlier on reduced cargo volumes.

Freight rates in the Far East for smaller supramax vessels were around $5,500 per day this week, Fearnley added.

The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index climbed to 612 on Wednesday from 605 last week.

PWCS terminal coal exports to China surge to 16-month high in May

Shipments to China from eastern Australia’s Port Waratah Coal Services terminals jumped to a 16-month high of 1.6 million mt in May, up 21.2% month on month from 1.32 million mt in April, said the Newcastle coal terminals operator in a performance report, Wednesday.

China’s offtake from the PWCS terminals last month was the highest since January 2015 when 2.16 million mt of coal was shipped, according to PWCS data.

Traders said that Chinese buyers were attracted to Newcastle thermal coal over the past month as its price was lower than comparative calorific value domestic thermal coal in China.

Prices for Newcastle 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal, the preferred product for Chinese buyers, averaged $43.80/mt FOB in May and a similar level in April.

In comparison, domestic coal prices in China were currently at around $50/mt FOB North China ports basis 5,500 kcal/kg NAR, said traders.

But Chinese demand for Newcastle coal was still lagging last year’s levels with 5.2 million mt shipped to China through the PWCS terminals over the January-May 2016 period.

This is compared with 6.8 million mt in the corresponding 2015 year-to-date period, according to port data.

Japan Volume Marginally Lower

Japan took delivery of 4.38 million mt of PWCS coal exports in May, down marginally from 4.44 million mt in April, said PWCS.

Over January-May, Japan received a total 21.5 million mt of coal from PWCS terminals, up from 20.7 million mt in the year-ago period.

South Korean buyers received 930,000 mt of Newcastle coal in May, up 10.7% month on month from 840,000 mt in April.

South Korea has taken delivery of 5.9 million mt of PWCS coal over January-May, down 1 million mt from 6.9 million mt in the year-ago period.

Taiwan received 1.22 million mt of coal from PWCS terminals last month, up from 1.1 million mt in April.

India received only 34,000 mt of PWCS coal last month, down substantially from 134,000 mt in April.

For the year to date, India has taken delivery of 586,000 mt of coal from the PWCS terminals, double the 276,000 mt it lifted in the January-May 2015 period, said the PWCS report.

About 7.97 million mt of PWCS’ May exports was thermal coal, equivalent to 85% of its May shipments, and 1.4 million mt or 15% of last month’s tonnage was coking coal, giving total exports of 9.38 million mt.

Newcastle port has another coal terminal operated under the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group banner that does not publish regular information on its shipping data.

The NCIG terminal has a capacity of 66 million mt/year and is operated by five coal producers including BHP Billiton, Peabody Energy and Whitehaven Coal.

Lebanon warns Hezbollah against threatening banks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb’s Interior Minister Nohad Machnouk has warned Iran-backed militia group Hezbollah against threatening Lebanese banks and said the country will not stand against any US sanction placed on the group.

The warning comes as ministers and members of parliament belonging to Leb's Hezbollah could be sanctioned under a new US law targeting the group's finances, a US Treasury official said last week.

The US Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act (HIFPA) passed in December threatens sanctions against anyone who finances Hezbollah in a significant way.

It has ignited an unprecedented dispute between Leb's most powerful group - the heavily armed Hezbollah - and a central bank widely seen as a pillar in a country plagued by political fatigue.

[Ynet] Policemen patrolling Kafr Qassem on Friday thwarted a terror attack when they stopped and searched a man who arose their suspicion.

The 38-years-old Nablus resident was carrying a bag that he claimed contained shirts. But when the officers searched his bag, they found two knives hidden inside.

During his questioning, the man admitted he was on his way to commit a terror attack in one of the cities in the Sharon plains.

Poll: Clinton opens up double-digit lead over Trump nationwide
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Timothy Pickering ...
has opened up a double-digit lead over Republican rival Donald Trump, regaining ground after the New York billionaire briefly tied her last month, according to a Rooters/Ipsos poll released on Friday.

The shift in support comes as Clinton steps up her attacks on the real estate mogul's policy positions, and as Trump fends off criticisms of his eponymous university and the pace at which he doled out money that he raised for U.S. veterans.

Some 46 percent of likely voters said they supported Clinton, while 35 percent said they supported Trump, and another 19 percent said they would not support either, according to the survey of 1,421 people conducted between May 30 and June 3.

Trump had briefly tied Clinton in support among likely U.S. voters in mid-May, raising expectations for a tight race between the two likely contenders in November's presidential election.

Trump has all but sealed the Republican nod after a string of big wins in state nominating contests forced his party rivals to drop out, while Clinton is still fending off a long-shot bid for the Democratic spot on the ballot by U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
of Vermont.

Clinton is hoping to seal the nomination next week, when a slew of big states including New Jersey and Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, will hold primaries, allowing her to consolidate her party's support ahead of a general election matchup against Trump.

This Week in Guns, June 4th, 2016

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

It's good to be a Mandarin in America these days. Mandarins are the class of people who have the largest megaphones, who get to lecture the rest of us about how evil we are for clinging to guns and Gawd, but who can break laws publicly and with impunity.

Take for example, Golden Throat Katie Couric's Yahoo-sponsored lecture on the evils of firearms. It turns out, according to Sean Davis at The Federalist, show producer Stephanie Soechtig broke federal firearms laws by conspiring with an employee to buy four firearms in Arizona, then moving them across state lines.

But as I have read firearms laws, Stephanie Soechtig wasn't the one who violated federal firearms laws, nor did the seller, whoever it was, who transferred the firearm to Stephanie Soechtig's employee, nor did the individual who received the firearm. Since it was a private sale, firearms laws were not violated until the moment the guns were taken across state lines.

Davis argues that moving the firearm across state lines without a background check puts Soechtig in legal jeopardy, but it is only the act of moving the firearm across state lines that puts her employee, not Soechtig, in a jackpot. Stephanie Soechtig's employee committed no crime until the moment firearm was moved across state lines. The crime was not for the purchase.

I hate when people like Davis point out incidents like this in this manner. Federal firearms laws, federal laws and the monstrously growing federal government are not the issue to Davis. That Soechtig violated unjust firearms law is.

Davis should quit the Federalist. He is a statist, not a Constitutionalist.

I think Soechtig should be congratulated for making the transfer in defiance of firearms laws. I know for a fact that Soechtig will skate, as will Couric and her co-conspirators. Call it the David Gregory standard of justice. If you ain't one of them, then you go to prison.

And no one will die in the snows of Oregon for their role in the conspiracy to violate firearms laws. No ambushes, no need to cover your crimes with state legislation.

Let's face it. Whether you wear a badge, a black robe, make your living in front of a microphone or a keyboard, it is good to be a Mandarin in the USA.

Loads.

Africa Subsaharan
Nigeria: 77 Boko Haram Members Surrender to Troops
[ALLAFRICA] The Nigerian army on Wednesday said 77 Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
gunnies have surrendered to troops of 122 task force battalion on Operation Lafiya Dole in Borno State.

Army front man, Colonel Sani Usman, said the Boko Haram gunnies comprise 17 men, 16 women, 16 male children and 28 female children.

He explained that the surrendered Boko Haram members have been moved to Yamteke by combined team of 26 Task Force Brigade for preliminary investigation and screening.

Usman said troops have also incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
a deserter soldier, Corporal Musa Titima of 117 Task Force Battalion, attached to 114 Task Force Battalion, who absconded from duty while on Operation Crackdown at Bitta.

The soldier was also allegedly involved in a fracas with Mr Salisu Ngatha at Kabang Ward on 30th May 2016 that led to the death of the civilian.

He said following tip off by well meaning Nigerians, troops of 7 Division Garrison, conducted clearance patrol at some villages which include: Abachari, Asanari, Mediari, Toluwari, Chuwnari, Gaya, Zarumari, Alanari, Shuwari, Ngadaya, Chempo, Samaa, Matari, Utoro and Kayamla in Jere and Konduga Local Government Areas of Borno State on 31st May 2016.

He added that during the patrol, troops came in contact with members of the Boko Haram group at Samaa village, killing a number of them and recovered three cycle of violences, 143 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two bicycles, two bags of mango, one tricycle tyre pump, two water bottles and pellets for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) making

Usman also said troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion, 25 Task Force Brigade on 30th May 2016, received 79 persons who claimed to have been kept captives by Boko Haram murderous Moslems at Ngwalimiri village but escaped at their location.

He said in furtherance of the efforts to keep Bitta-Damboa road open and secure to commuters, troops of 28 Task Force Brigade have cleared Bulajani, Mulgwo and Muotu villages of remnants of Boko Haram elements.

He added that during an encounter at Moutu village, a soldier sustained an injury on the forehead, while Five Boko Haram members were killed by the troops with a few others were suspected to escape with gunshot wounds.

He also said the advancing troops linked up with their counterparts of 25 Task Force Brigade at Gombori village and rescued 157 persons escaping from Boko Haram captivity.

He added that troops of 7 Division Garrison arrested a 28 year old suspected Boko Haram spy, Musa Mallam Aman, around the Garrison Headquarters complex in Maiduguri metropolis.

Usman said preliminary investigation confirmed that he hailed from Maradhi village in Niger Republic and added that he was not alone as there were Boko Haram spies in Maiduguri.

He said while efforts have been intensified to track and arrest his other accomplices, Musa has since been handed over to Joint Interrogation Committee (JIC).

He added that troops of 22 Brigade Garrison and their Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Dikwa have also embarked on routine and fighting patrols to maintain security on construction and rehabilitation works of public buildings and infrastructure that would facilitate return of public officials and people back to their ancestral homes.

He said the troops have been carrying out clearance operations and patrols to keep Maiduguri-Mafa-Dikwa-Gomboru Ngala road open and secure.

He said troops have also cleared Boko Haram hideouts along Gwoza-Kwatara-Kasa-Uvaha hills, where they rescued four men, two women and five children that fled Boko Haram location at Uvaha.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran’s Khamenei: US, ‘evil’ Britain can’t be trusted
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Friday Tehran had no intention of cooperating on regional issues with its main enemies, the United States and "evil" Britannia.

Khamenei also accused Washington of not being committed to a nuclear deal reached between Tehran and six major powers, including the United States, in 2015 that aims to curb the country’s disputed nuclear program.

Under the agreement, economic sanctions were lifted in January after Iran suspended sensitive nuclear work that the West suspects was aimed at creating a nuclear bomb. Iran denies seeking a nuclear bomb.

Inflation, unemployment and other economic hardships persuaded Khamenei to support President Hassan Rouhani on the nuclear question aimed at improving the parlous state of Iran’s economy.

"America has continued its enmity toward Iran since (the 1979 Islamic) revolution ... It is a huge mistake to trust evil Britannia and the Great Satan™ (the United States)," Khamenei said in a speech broadcast live on state TV.

"We will not cooperate with America over the regional crisis," he said, adding that: "Their aims in the region are 180 degrees opposed to Iran’s."

Relations with Washington were severed after Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution and enmity to the United States has always been a rallying point for hardliner supporters of Khamenei in Iran.

Tehran and Washington have common interests and threats across the Middle East. They have cooperated tactically in the past, including when Tehran helped Washington counter al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
murderous Moslems (IS) in Iraq.

The United States and its allies in the Middle East accuse Iran of supporting terrorism and interfering in the affairs of regional states, including Syria, Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...

Syrian army opens new front against ISIS, edges towards Raqqa province
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Syrian army backed by Russian air strikes has advanced towards ISIS-held Raqqa province in a new offensive, a group monitoring the war said, nearing a region where US-backed militias have also attacked the murderous Moslem group.

Heavy Russian air strikes hit ISIS-held territory in eastern areas of Hama province near the provincial boundary with Raqqa on Friday, where the army had advanced some 12 km (7 miles), according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The army was around 12 km from the Raqqa provincial boundary.

US-backed militias including the Kurdish YPG are pressing a separate, multi-pronged attack against ISIS in Raqqa province and neighbouring Aleppo province, which escalated this week with a push towards the city of Manbij near the Turkish border.

A pro-Damascus Lebanese newspaper said the Syrian army was entering "the race for Raqqa" with its new offensive. A Syrian military source, however, said that reports of an attack targeting Raqqa were "expectations", and that both Raqqa and Deir al-Zor, also in the hands of ISIS bad boys, were possible targets of army operations.

The army announced on Thursday a new operation backed by Russian air strikes in the Athriya area of eastern Hama province close to the provincial border with Raqqa. State media said the army had made territorial gains and inflicted heavy casualties.

"There is progress from Athriya on two fronts but the coming direction is not set," the military source said.

Raqqa city is ISIS's de facto capital, and the province has been a major base of operations for the group.

The Syrian military source said the army was focused on eastern and northern areas of both Homs and Hama provinces "in the direction of ISIS (ISIS) gatherings".

Homs province borders the ISIS-dominated Deir al-Zor region which links the territory it controls in Syria with the territory it holds in Iraq.

"The field leadership does not give information about the main direction or the secondary direction, but the direction is open to two possibilities - Deir al-Zor and Raqqa," the source said.

The Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar said the first aim was to capture the town of Tabqa in Raqqa, the location of an air base and major ISIS arsenal, and to put "a foot in the area without leaving it completely to the Americans' allies".

The US-backed Syria Democratic Forces alliance (SDF) launched an attack in that direction last week.

The SDF has also begun an offensive against ISIS-held areas in Aleppo province, beginning with the Manbij area. That thrust, supported by US special forces, aims to deny ISIS any access to the Turkish frontier.

Al-Akhbar said the new Syrian army operation did not aim to reach Raqqa city "in the coming weeks", but the goal was at least to reach Tabqa city and Lake Assad, which it overlooks.

Tabqa is some 50 km (30 miles) west of Raqqa city. ISIS captured Tabqa in 2014 at the height of its rapid expansion in Syria and Iraq.

The Syrian army advanced to the border between Raqqa and Hama provinces in February. A military source said at the time Tabqa would be the first target of a Syrian government attack in Raqqa province.

Russia's ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
said in April the Syrian army was planning offensives against the cities of Deir al-Zor and Raqqa with the support of the Russian air force, which has been backing government forces on the battlefield for several months.

Arabia
Latest US strike on al-Qaeda in Yemen kills four
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A US air strike last month killed four suspected Al-Qaeda Death Eaters in Yemen, the ninth such attack this year, the US military disclosed on Friday.

The strike on May 19 took place in the southern province of Shabwa, US Central Command (Centcom) said in a statement.

It brought to nine the number of US air strikes against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
(AQAP) since the beginning of the year, the statement said.

Four of the strikes had not previously been disclosed.

US attacks have killed a total of 81 suspected AQAP fighters, the statement said.

An air strike against a training camp on March 22 killed 56 Death Eaters, according to Centcom's latest tally.

The United States, which has considered AQAP the most dangerous Al-Qaeda branch since 2009, regularly conducts Arclight airstrikes against the jihadist group in Yemen, mostly using drones.

AQAP has taken advantage of the country's civil conflict between Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Kurd forces spring family from prison in Raqqa
[ARA News] QAMISHLO – Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) on Friday freed a Yezidi family that has been held by that extremist group of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa province.

The YPG leadership released a statement, obtained by ARA News, confirming the release of a Yezidi family from ISIS detention in Raqqa on Friday evening.

“In a strategic operation, a YPG unit infiltrated into a detention centre in the ISIS-held Raqqa and released a number of prisoners, including a Yezidi family,” the Kurdish leadership said.

The released family, including a mother and her three daughters, had been kidnapped by ISIS jihadis in Shingle/Sinjar district of northern Iraq and they had been moved to Syria’s Raqqa in early 2015.

“They have been moved to a safe location in Rojava [Syria’s Kurdish region],” it said, without giving further details.

The Kurdish YPG stressed that the efforts will continue until releasing all Yezidi captives held by ISIS in Raqqa.

Raqqa is the de facto capital for the ISIS self-declared Caliphate.

In August 2014, ISIS radicals took over the Yezidi region of Shingle in northern Iraq, causing a mass displacement of nearly 400,000 people to Duhok and Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan. Tens of thousands of Yezidis remained trapped in Mount Sinjar, suffering mass killings, kidnappings and rape cases, according to local and military sources. Also, more than 3000 Yezidi girls have been taken by the radical group as sex slaves.

On November 13, the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in Iraqi Kurdistan, backed by an air cover from the US-led coalition forces, announced the liberation of the entire Yezidi district of Shingal in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh after fierce battles with ISIS extremists. The Kurdish forces have recently discovered more than five mass graves in the Yezidi region, where hundreds of Yezidi civilians have been summarily executed and buried by ISIS jihadis. Yet, thousands of Yezidi women remain in ISIS captivity after being sold as sex slaves across the group’s territory in Iraq and Syria.

International Calls

Human Rights Watch called on ISIS to urgently release Yezidi women and girls abducted since 2014. “The longer they are held by ISIS, the more horrific life becomes for Yezidi women, bought and sold, brutally raped, their children torn from them,” said Skye Wheeler, women’s rights emergencies researcher at Human Rights Watch.

According to officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria continue to hold about 1,800 abducted Yezidi women and girls.

The United Nations has cited allegations, based on Yezidi officials’ estimates, that as many as 3,500 people remained in ISIS captivity as of October 2015.

“Many of the abuses, including torture, sexual slavery, and arbitrary detention, would be war crimes if committed in the context of the armed conflict, or crimes against humanity if they were part of ISIS policy during a systematic or widespread attack on the civilian population,” the HRW said. “The abuses against Yezidi women and girls documented by Human Rights Watch, including the practice of abducting women and girls and forcibly converting them to Islam and/or forcibly marrying them to ISIS members, may be part of a genocide against Yezidis.”

Afghanistan
Sharp Increase In Kidnappings Since Taliban Leadership Change
"Sheik, Sales are off from the last quarter, and we need money!"
Sheik: "How are sales in the kidnapping department?"
"Way down. Planning is not getting enough prospects to us, so we can't do our jobs!"
Sheik: "I'll talk to planning. You talk to finance, and we'll meet tomorrow."

Afghan security institutions said on Friday that the sharp increase in kidnappings in Afghanistan after the appointment of the Taliban's new leader was in response to the killing of terrorists in Pakistan.

They also said the Taliban is taking orders from regional countries' intelligence services.

In response to the late arrival of security forces in Kunduz to track down kidnapped bus passengers, security officials said the matter would be investigated.

However, many analysts feel that Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban's new leader, who might not have a military background, is issuing more Fatwas against government forces and calling for kidnappings on highways. They say this is his new approach.

This week two mass kidnapping occurred in the country. On Tuesday insurgents stopped a number of busses and took about 200 passengers hostage. They executed 10 on the spot and later beheaded two others. The majority were released but the fate of at least eight is still not clear.

The second incident took place in Sar-e-Pul on Wednesday when again, insurgents kidnapped at least 17 passengers.

"All the people know that their aim by taking hostages and killing people is only to get the world's attention and to show the people their existence in Afghanistan. While I saw that all terrorists' leaders including Osama Bin Ladin, Mullah Omar and Mullah Mansour were killed in Pakistan," said Dawlat Waziri, the defense ministry's spokesman.

Kunduz victims who have been freed have criticized security institutions and some said that government forces were aware of Taliban activity in the province.

"The issue of kidnapping in Kunduz was discussed even in the National Security Council (NSC) but soon it will be clear where the problem lay," said Sediq Sediqqi, spokesman for the ministry of interior.

Afghanistan human rights commission meanwhile called the killing of the hostages a war crime and called for more coordination among security forces.

"Killing of civilians and passengers is a war crime and it is increasing day to day which is a source of concern," said Lal Gul Lal, head of Afghanistan Human Rights Organization.

"With the coming of the Taliban's new leader such activities of hostages has increased and we want the government to put more effort into securing the country highways," said Ghulam Rabani, a Kunduz provincial council member.

Experts and residents believe that with the increase of kidnappings by insurgents, the level of hate will increase toward the terrorists groups. As such they have called on security forces to suppress the terrorist groups.

Roadside bomb hits KDF convoy near Somali border
A convoy transporting Kenyan defense forces (KDF) was targeted in a roadside bomb explosion outside Liboi town near Somali border on Friday, reports said. A remote-controlled land-mine bomb believed to be planted by Somalia-based Al shabaab militants ripped through the KDF escorting convoy between Liboi and Dhobley.

The bomb blast has destroyed one of vehicles in the convoy, causing unidentified casualties as Kenyan military did not comment on the IED attack.

The KDF convoy left Liboi town and was en route to Dhobley at the time of the attack, according to the local residents. Liboi, a key town located 18 kilometers west of the Somali border, and it has been hit by several roadside and cross border attacks by Al shabaab over the past four years.

Baltic index down on weaker vessel demand
The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, fell on Thursday as demand across all vessel segments fell.

The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, was down six points, or 0.98 percent, at 606 points.

The capesize index lost seven points, or 0.81 percent, at 854 points.

Average daily earnings for capesizes, which typically transport 150,000-tonne cargoes such as iron ore and coal, were down $103 to $6,438.

The panamax index was down eight points, or 1.41 percent, at 560 points.

Average daily earnings for panamaxes, which usually carry coal or grain cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes, decreased $67 to $4,476.

Among smaller vessels, the supramax index fell three points to 575 points, while the handysize index fell one point to 354 points.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Hildebeest Posted Names of Hidden Intelligence Officials On Her Email
[Breitbart] Hillary Clinton posted and shared the names of concealed U.S. intelligence officials on her unprotected email system.
There are no words strong enough.
Federal records reveal that Clinton swapped these highly classified names on an email account that was vulnerable to attack and was breached repeatedly by Russia-linked hacker attempts.
No words.
These new revelations -- reminiscent of the Valerie Plame scandal during George W. Bush's tenure -- could give FBI investigators the evidence they need to make a case that Clinton violated the Espionage Act by mishandling national defense information through "gross negligence."

Numerous names cited in Clinton's emails have been redacted in State Department email releases with the classification code "B3 CIA PERS/ORG," a highly specialized classification that means the information, if released, would violate the Central Intelligence Act of 1949.

The State Department produced a document to Judicial Watch in April 2014 that identifies different types of "(b)(3)" redactions, including "CIA PERS/ORG," which it defines as information "Specifically exempted from disclosure by statute ... Central Intelligence Act of 1949."

"That's what it suggests," Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Breitbart News, referring to the indication that Clinton disclosed the names of CIA-protected intelligence sources, based on the B3 redactions.

The CIA justifies "(b)(3)" redactions with this description: "(b)(3) Applies to the Director's statutory obligations to protect from disclosure intelligence sources and methods, as well as the organization, functions, names, official titles, salaries, or numbers of personnel employed by the Agency, in accord with the National Security Act of 1947 and the CIA Act of 1949, respectively."

The State Department declined to comment. "Per the colleague who handles this issue, we are not speaking to the content of emails," State Department spokeswoman Nicole Thompson told Breitbart News.

Jubeir says Arab peace plan best option for Israel
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said on Friday that the basis for any future peace plan between Israelis and Palestinians remained a 2002 Arab offer, and urged Israel to accept it.

"The Arab peace initiative has all the elements for a final settlement," Adel al-Jubeir told reporters after a conference in Paris.

"It is on the table and a solid basis for resolving this long-standing dispute ... we hope that wisdom will prevail in Israel and that they accept this initiative."
