Teekay Says Gas Carrier Attackers Carried ‘Substantial Amount of Explosives'
Unknown assailants who opened fire on a gas tanker last week off the coast of Yemen were also carrying a "substantial amount of explosives," the vessel's owner said on Thursday, and a maritime source said it may have been an attempted suicide attack.

Security experts said the new details of the Oct. 25 incident would heighten concerns for shipping in the narrow Bab al-Mandab waterway at the entrance to the Red Sea, a major choke point in the world oil trade.

In an initial statement last week, shipping group Teekay said its LNG (liquefied natural gas) tanker Galicia Spirit had "experienced a suspected piracy attack" but no one had managed to board it.

In an update on Thursday, Teekay said it had now conducted an investigation with security experts. This indicated that "the skiff (small boat) that engaged in an attack on the Galicia Spirit using small arms was also carrying a substantial amount of explosives."

It added: "While the intentions of the attackers and the use of the explosives is unknown, the investigation findings indicate that the explosives would have been sufficient to have caused significant damage to the vessel.

"It appears, however, that when the skiff was approximately 20m (meters) from the vessel, the explosives detonated, destroying the skiff and ending the attack."

No details have emerged of how many attackers there were, or what happened to them, but maritime sources said the information to date indicated this was probably not piracy.

"If the circumstances are as described, it was an ambitious attempt carried out by people who didn't expect to survive," said one source with detailed knowledge of the area.

"An LNG vessel also has a double skin (hull), but if the explosives were enough to penetrate the main hull, then it is certainly possible that damage would have been done to the inner skin and gas could have escaped and ignited."

Teekay said the vessel suffered minor damage with no injuries to the crew.

PREVIOUS ATTACKS

The incident, the first attack on a commercial ship since July, followed the launching of missiles from Yemen in recent weeks against military craft, including U.S. navy vessels.

Militants have launched successful maritime attacks in the area before. A suicide bombing carried out by al Qaeda, which has a powerful regional arm in Yemen, killed 17 sailors on the U.S. warship Cole in Aden's port in 2000. Two years later, al Qaeda hit a French tanker in the Gulf of Aden, south of the Bab al-Mandab.

Maritime security sources said the attack on the Galicia Spirit occurred near Perim Island, just a few kilometers from the southern Yemeni coast and the site of a lighthouse for ships passing through the Bab al-Mandab.

"Attacks like these are not common and take a certain amount of training and resources to achieve," said Michael Edey of British security firm Dryad Maritime. "It will obviously raise concerns for shipping in the area."

While shipping companies have yet to divert ships, the stakes are high. Nearly 4 million barrels of oil are shipped daily to Europe, the United States and Asia via the Bab al-Mandab, as well as other commercial goods.

"Recent incidents off Somalia, the Bab al-Mandab and wider Indian Ocean indicate an increased threat level to shipping from piracy and maritime terrorism," British maritime security firm MAST said in a report this week.

A civil war is raging in Yemen between the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, backed by troops loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and the internationally recognized government of Abd Rabbu Mansour al-Hadi, backed by Saudi Arabia.

The United States carried out cruise missile strikes on Oct. 15 against radar sites in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen after two confirmed attempts to hit a U.S. Navy destroyer with coastal cruise missiles close to the Bab al-Mandab. The Houthi movement has denied firing on the USS Mason.

The Houthis have confirmed a separate earlier attack on a United Arab Emirates vessel in the area.

The Unreported Weirdness of Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton’s oddities have gone unreported by the media for literally decades. According to Bob Woodward, Hillary brought Jean Houston, co-director of the Foundation for Mind Research, to the White House when Hillary was first lady. There, Hillary held séances with Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi. She said she thought it would be a step too far to talk to Jesus, however. Hillary wrote that Eleanor "usually responds by telling me to buck up, or at least to grow skin as thick as a rhinoceros."

Hillary also loves to throw back alcohol. Her former campaign manager and current corrupt Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe said, "She loves to sit, throw ’em back. We all hear about the story that she and John McCain actually had a shot contest, I think in the Ukraine or somewhere around the world. And she actually beat John McCain in a shot contest."

So, Hillary isn’t exactly the paragon of stoic soberity [sic]. She’s an odd lady surrounded by odd people who will do terrible things as president. But don’t expect the media to report it.

#1  Agents within the Federal Bureau of Investigation want to take down the personnel at the top of the Justice Department, according to a former D.C. based U.S. Justice attorney.

Joe DiGenova, who has bureau sources close to the FBI investigation, named Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, Assistant Attorney General Peter Kaznick, Assistant Attorney General John P. Carlin, and Assistant Attorney General Leslie Caldwell as senior level staff at DOJ have who have “done something that they are going to regret.”

In a radio interview last night, DiGenova said that investigators have been able to flip Weiner and Abedin. Abedin [and Weiner] are afraid they will lose custody of their child [although it is doubtful Weiner will have joint custody] and they are singing. Who knows, Maybe there is a shred of decency between them?

Erik Prince: NYPD Ready to Make Arrests in Weiner Probe
If all these allegations prove to be true, there truly is a Constitutional crisis created by the Clintons as well as many others. "Draining of the swamp" comes to mind. The swamp may be very deep. Some of the allegations are nasty.
Blackwater founder and retired Navy SEAL Erik told Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM that according to one of his "well-placed sources" in the New York Police Department, "the NYPD wanted to do a press conference announcing the warrants and the additional arrests they were making" in the Anthony Weiner investigation, but received "huge pushback" from the Justice Department.

Prince began by saying he had no problem believing reports that the FBI was highly confident multiple foreign agencies hacked Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

"I mean, it’s not like the foreign intelligence agencies leave a thank-you note after they’ve hacked and stolen your data," Prince said to SiriusXM host Alex Marlow.
Prince claimed he had insider knowledge of the investigation that could help explain why FBI Director James Comey had to announce he was reopening the investigation into Clinton’s email server last week.

"Because of Weinergate and the sexting scandal, the NYPD started investigating it. Through a subpoena, through a warrant, they searched his laptop, and sure enough, found those 650,000 emails. They found way more stuff than just more information pertaining to the inappropriate sexting the guy was doing," Prince claimed.

"They found State Department emails. They found a lot of other really damning criminal information, including money laundering, including the fact that Hillary went to this sex island with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton went there more than 20 times. Hillary Clinton went there at least six times," he said.

"The amount of garbage that they found in these emails, of criminal activity by Hillary, by her immediate circle, and even by other Democratic members of Congress was so disgusting they gave it to the FBI, and they said, ’We’re going to go public with this if you don’t reopen the investigation and you don’t do the right thing with timely indictments,’" Prince explained.

"I believe ‐ I know, and this is from a very well-placed source of mine at 1PP, One Police Plaza in New York ‐ the NYPD wanted to do a press conference announcing the warrants and the additional arrests they were making in this
investigation, and they’ve gotten huge pushback, to the point of coercion, from the Justice Department, with the Justice Department threatening to charge someone that had been unrelated in the accidental heart attack death of Eric Garner almost two years ago. That’s the level of pushback the Obama Justice Department is doing against actually seeking justice in the email and other related criminal matters," Prince said.

"There’s five different parts of the FBI conducting investigations into these things, with constant downdrafts from the Obama Justice Department. So in the, I hope, unlikely and very unfortunate event that Hillary Clinton is elected president, we will have a constitutional crisis that we have not seen since, I believe, 1860," Prince declared.
Marlow asked Prince to clarify these revelations.

"NYPD was the first one to look at that laptop," Prince elaborated. "Weiner and Huma Abedin, his wife ‐ the closest adviser of Hillary Clinton for 20 years ‐ have both flipped. They are cooperating with the government. They both have ‐ they see potential jail time of many years for their crimes, for Huma Abedin sending and receiving and even storing hundreds of thousands of messages from the State Department server and from Hillary Clinton’s own homebrew server, which contained classified information. Weiner faces all kinds of exposure for the inappropriate sexting that was going on and for other information that they found."

"So NYPD first gets that computer. They see how disgusting it is. They keep a copy of everything, and they pass a copy on to the FBI, which finally pushes the FBI off their chairs, making Comey reopen that investigation, which was indicated in the letter last week. The point being, NYPD has all the information, and they will pursue justice within their rights if the FBI doesn’t," Prince contended.

"There is all kinds of criminal culpability through all the emails they’ve seen of that 650,000, including money laundering, underage sex, pay-for-play, and, of course, plenty of proof of inappropriate handling, sending/receiving of classified information, up to SAP level Special Access Programs," he stated.

"So the plot thickens. NYPD was pushing because, as an article quoted one of the chiefs ‐ that’s the level just below commissioner ‐ he said as a parent, as a father with daughters, he could not let that level of evil continue," Prince said.

He noted that the FBI can investigate these matters, "but they can’t convene a grand jury. They can’t file charges."

"The prosecutors, the Justice Department has to do that," he explained. "Now, as I understand it, Preet Bharara, the Manhattan prosecutor, has gotten ahold of some of this. From what I hear, he’s a stand-up guy, and hopefully he does the right thing."

Marlow agreed that Bharara’s "sterling reputation" as a determined prosecutor was "bad news for the Clintons."
Prince agreed, but said, "If people are willing to bend or break the law and don’t really care about the Constitution or due process ‐ if you’re willing to use Stalinist tactics against someone ‐ who knows what level of pressure" could be brought to bear against even the most tenacious law enforcement officials?

"The point being, fortunately, it’s not just the FBI; [there are] five different offices that are in the hunt for justice, but the NYPD has it as well," Prince said, citing the Wall Street Journal reporting that has "exposed downdraft, back pressure from the Justice Department" against both the FBI and NYPD, in an effort to "keep the sunlight and the disinfecting effects of the truth and transparency from shining on this great evil that has gone on, and is slowly being exposed."
"The Justice Department is trying to run out the clock, to elect Hillary Clinton, to prevent any real justice from being done," he warned.

Jordan says 2 American trainers killed outside air force base
The Jordanian military says two American trainers were killed and a third was wounded in an exchange of fire outside an air base in southern Jordan.

The statement by the military did not say what prompted the exchange on Friday.

A Jordanian military officer was also wounded in the incident at the al-Jafr air base.

#3  The Times of Israel adds that the third soldier subsequently died.

Three US troops were killed in a shooting attack outside a Jordanian training facility on Friday, a US official said, following earlier reports that one or two US personnel were dead.

“A total of three US service members died today in the incident in Jordan,” the official said. “Initial reports were that one was killed, two injured. The two injured servicemembers were transported to a hospital in Amman, where they died.”

“The servicemembers were in vehicles approaching the gate of a Jordanian military training facility, where they came under small arms fire,” the official added. “We are working with the Jordanian government to gather additional details about what happened.”

The shooting took place at the gate of the Al-Jafr base when the car carrying the US trainers failed to stop, the Jordanian army said, adding that a Jordanian officer was also wounded.

Iraq
Experts Warn of Problems After Mosul is Liberated
Boy howdy, whatever would we do without experts...
The campaign to reclaim Mosul from ISIS might be ahead of schedule -- but that only puts the planning for the day after further behind.
What follows is first-class hand-wringing from CNN...
After the George W. Bush White House suffered years of recriminations for not preparing more robustly to secure Iraq and Afghanistan following initially successful invasions, the Obama administration now risks fielding similar criticism for its campaign to retake the second-largest city in Iraq.
Well no: Champ isn't going to suffer the types of criticisms that Dubya did, not in any way...
But US officials are defending their lack of a completed plan by saying the task is so complicated it would have indefinitely delayed the campaign to kick out the terror group.
Likely true, and any 'plan' would be un-done by events in the city.
The US on Thursday reported that Iraqi troops, backed by US airpower and Special Forces, had stormed toward Mosul with unexpected speed. While that success is welcome, it is intensifying concerns that the US and its partners have not adequately prepared for the biggest challenge yet to come: finding a way to keep the peace in the city after two years of ISIS domination.

The battle is expected to lead to a major refugee exodus, a possible ISIS insurgency should fighters opt to blend in with the local population rather than flee or fight to the death, and power struggles among Mosul's diverse ethnic, tribal and religious groups.

Some Western diplomats
...none representing a country that has skin in the game...
have privately voiced to CNN concern that not enough planning had been done in the run-up to the assault, even when it wasn't ahead of schedule. In conversations with CNN, they questioned whether the US had learned the lessons of Iraq and Afghanistan, where critics inside and outside of the Obama administration slammed President George W. Bush for lacking a post-invasion stabilization plan and not ensuring that the countries' new governments were inclusive.

Obama administration officials acknowledge that the day-after plan for Mosul was still very much a work in progress when the first shots were fired just over two weeks ago. And there is no agreement to date on who should control Mosul once ISIS is kicked out.

"Everybody has a different idea for how Nineveh Province should be governed, who should be the governor," said Brett McGurk, the US special presidential envoy for the counter-ISIS fight, referring to the region that Mosul is part of. "Every other person you meet will say, I should be the governor, he should be the governor."

"The problem here is that if you try to resolve all of those issues, Daesh will remain in Mosul for the foreseeable future and perhaps forever," he added, using the Arabic term for the terror group. "This is really a war of momentum. We feel the momentum is on the side of the Iraqi security forces."
A rare voice of common sense in the Obama administration...
Nick Heras, a Middle East analyst at the Center for a New American Security, described the governing situation in Mosul is "incredibly complex."
And you need an expert like Nick to tell you that...
There are two main factions vying for the lead role in the post-ISIS running of the city, he noted.

Baghdad's plan is to have the central government's designated governor of Nineveh Province take charge of the governance and policing efforts. But Turkey and the Kurdistan Regional Government, which runs an autonomous zone near Mosul in northern Iraq, have their own preferred man, Atheel al-Nujaifi, the former governor, who seeks to divide the province into semi-autonomous sub-districts, a plan favored by minority groups like the Kurds.

About 1,000 Turkish troops are in northern Iraq helping to train a Sunni tribal police force to help stabilize Mosul, deployment that has irked the Shiite-dominated government in Baghdad. Turkey has also demanded a greater role in the Mosul campaign, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan saying that his country's historical role in the area during the Ottoman Empire gives Ankara the right to have influence in the region.
The Ottoman Empire died a hundred years ago according to the history books but lives on in Yippie's beturbaned head...
Heras said that many of Mosul's Sunni residents view the Shiite-led government in Baghdad with suspicion, especially because of its use of Shiite militias, known as Popular Mobilization Forces, in the fight against ISIS. Many of these militias are aligned with Iran.

Humanitarian organization have accused these forces of human rights violations.
Unlike the human rights violations perpetrated by the various Sunni organizations when they're the ones on top. In fact it's completely a different situation; ask them...
Assurances from the central government in Baghdad that only local forces will be used to secure Mosul have not dampened those suspicions. Kurdish and Turkish officials are also skeptical that government forces alone are capable of securing the city.

Another complicating factor is the Iraqi government's inability to eject the Turkish military or compel the Kurdish Regional Government by force of arms, forcing Baghdad to rely on the US as a mediator.
And we know how well that will work...
"The US will be caught trying to play referee" between the competing groups, Heras predicted.
Thanks for that astounding "expert" insight...
McGurk acknowledged the challenge of trying to accommodate the various factions but said that effort must begin in earnest only once ISIS is no longer holding the city -- an assessment shared by several current and former diplomats and military officials who spoke to CNN.

Diplomats are pushing the Iraqis to set up an interim governing council, similar to the one created after the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2002, comprising Iraq's various ethnic groups, tribes, religious sects and sectors of society.

"There will be an important role for all the notables of Mosul, but the assessment from the Iraqis, which I very much agree with, is that it would be impossible to resolve all of these very difficult issues while Daesh is sitting in Mosul," McGurk said.

James Jeffrey, the former American ambassador to Iraq during the Obama administration, agreed with the current US approach. The US and its allies "couldn't afford to wait for the governance plan to be fully in place," he said, but "had to take on ISIS as soon as possible." He added that the most immediate issue -- providing humanitarian assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons -- had been adequately planned for.

International relief agencies have estimated that as many as one million Iraqis could be displaced by the fight.
One wonders how it is that two million people remain in greater Mosul with a couple ten-thousand ISIS running the place. And more importantly, why those two million didn't deal with the gunnies themselves..
While he acknowledged that Turkey and the Kurds were seeking to exert influence on Mosul, Jeffrey said that he was confident a governing plan could be negotiated between the various factions.

"I've never seen cooperation between Baghdad and Irbil as good as it is right now," he said, referring to the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government. He said that this collaboration has been on display during the battle for Mosul and that its continuation would be critical given the large number of Kurds in east Mosul.

Jeffrey added that unlike 2014 when Mosul fell, Baghdad is now putting a much bigger emphasis on recruiting and training local forces for policing. US Military officials have repeatedly said that they are making a concerted effort to train local security forces to help stabilize Mosul and ward off any ISIS insurgents, even as governing issues remaining in flux.

"We've trained a very large number of security police forces because these are going to be key to establishing a degree of stability in the areas that get liberated from Daesh," US Air Force Col. John Dorrian told reporters last week.

"Daesh won't be allowed to simply melt away and then do terrorist attacks or sort of (insurgency) ops. The police will be in these areas and assisting with that challenge," he said. Asked if there was a post-conflict plan ready for Mosul, Dorrian said, "There is a plan in place, but it's an adaptive plan ... they continue to work on this."

He added, "I think what we have to do is get Mosul cleared of Daesh, and once we do that, we'll see where those remaining elements are."

This is the same mess we had in Mosul... The Kurds used to own Mosul east of the river, not sure what ISIS did as far as displacing them, but I would let the Kurds do all of the policing and keep the Turks the hell out. Riddles in the Dark
by Richard Fernandez

[PJMedia] Sometimes life imitates fiction. It may even mimic myth. Let's suppose someone had an array of sensitive email stores that were going to be the subject of an audit. This was known because someone in the auditing firm tipped them off.

In order to protect the organization(s) they first back up the array of email databases and put them on removable media. They could then sanitize the original databases, hypothetically, by removing inappropriate entries as "private" secure in the knowledge that all past deals and correspondence could be referenced by very careful and surreptitious consultations from the hidden archive.

No data will have been lost since the archive still exists, simply placed where it cannot be found. This archive can even be accessed at need by someone physically able to physically obtain it. There is no danger because the administrator is trustworthy.

But suppose the administrator lives with someone less trustworthy, but who is pitied. Therefore his presence is tolerated. This wretched creature observes the data being accessed but has no clue as to its import. Nevertheless his sly nature leads him to suspect it is something important owing to the secrecy with which it is consulted. So he watches silently with his curiosity piqued until one day the removable media is left unguarded, perhaps only for a few minutes.

He copies its contents in that instant onto his own computer, still oblivious to its significance. Then he forgets about it, returning only to look at its hefty mass in megabytes before returning to his obsessions. But outside his little word great forces are on the move seeking something that he in his ignorance, has. They never think to look in his cave. There it lies, unremarked in his pocket until one day a stranger stumbles across it seeking something unrelated.

What is this? he is asked. But the wretch doesn't know. It just something I found, not as interesting as these pictures. He tells irrelevant riddles.

What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees Up, up, up it goes,

And yet never grows?

But the stranger who has come upon him in the dark realizes it's more than a bauble and takes it. It is strangely heavy and glowing. The election of 2016 has so far been a series of improbable events. Now in the homestretch of the campaign a series of improbable events has turned the political odds around. Pundits have look mostly in vain for a explanation to all of it. Suppose there is none?
Suppose that G*d moves in mysterious ways: using a disgusting creature like Anthony Weiner to save the World is no stranger than using a horrible creature like Lavrenti Beria to save Soviet Jews.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Column One: Trump's true opponent
[Jpost] ...After eight years of Barack Obama’s White House, America is a different place than it was in 2008, when Obama ran on a platform of hope and change.

Americans today are angry, scared, divided and cynical.

The outcome of this presidential election will determine whether Obama’s fundamental transformation of America will become a done deal. If Clinton prevails, the Obama revolution will be irreversible.
IMO, if Clinton prevails, we'll be posting "miss me yet" with Obama's kisser
...But for his supporters, who Trump is, is less important than what he represents. And what he represents is the voters’ rebellion against the American establishment ‐ not just the political establishment, but the full spectrum of the American elite. From Washington to Wall Street, from college campuses to the media, tens of millions of Americans believe that their establishment is rotten to the core. And they support Trump because he is running against the establishment.

Popular resentment and animosity towards the powers that be was enough to win Trump the Republican nomination. And as he closes the gap with Clinton in the lead up to Tuesday, chances are rising that it will be enough to get him into the White House as well.

...Since Obama entered office he has used the powers of his office to seize powers no president had ever dared to claim. And Republicans ‐ who bore the brunt of the damage his policies caused ‐ expected their presidential nominees and congressional representatives to protect them. They expected them to curb Obama’s perceived abuses at the IRS, the EPA, at the border with Mexico, the Justice Department, in the healthcare industry, the military, the State Department and beyond.

In both the 2008 and 2012 elections, millions of Republican voters were appalled by their successive nominees’ refusal to go on the offensive against Obama. In 2008, Sen. John McCain refused to mention Obama’s deep and longstanding ties with radical political and social forces, including his decades’ long relationship with his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who regularly preached hatred for America from his pulpit.

In 2012, Mitt Romney simply choked. He couldn’t make a competent case against Obama or withstand media criticism, that as the Republican nominee he should have expected.

Indeed, in both cases, Republican voters walked away from their party’s defeat with the sense that their candidates care more about what media said about them than they cared about winning.

Republican voters took an even dimmer view of their congressional leadership. In both the 2010 and 2014 congressional elections, Republicans won majorities in both houses of Congress. The voters’ clear wish was for the Republican lawmakers to check Obama. But instead, the Republican leadership lashed out at their own voters while failing time after time to check Obama’s perceived abuse of power.

...Trump was elected to be the Republican presidential nominee because Trump is the opposite of McCain, Romney and their counterparts in the GOP’s congressional leadership ranks. Trump isn’t merely running against Democrats and the liberal establishment. He is running against the Republican establishment as well. And his supporters love him for it.

...According to one analysis. 91 percent of the media coverage of Trump’s campaign has been negative.

But the negative press has only strengthened his supporters’ conviction that he is the man of the hour.

A poll taken by USA Today earlier this week makes the point clear. The poll asked likely voters, "What do you think is the primary threat that might try to change the election results?" For months, the Clinton campaign has claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is interfering in the election on Trump’s behalf. Yet a mere 10 percent of voters polled said that "foreign interests such as Russian hackers," would try to steal the elections.

On the other hand, 46 percent said the news media would. Another 21 percent said "the national political establishment" was intervening in the elections to shift the vote in the direction they wish.

In other words, 67 percent of voters believe that the establishment Trump is running against is trying to steal the elections.

...The renewed investigations against Clinton are not driving her voters away from her. As Clinton herself argued hours after Comey’s decision became public, her supporters have already factored in her legal difficulties. Trump is rising because with every new report of Clinton’s alleged corruption, Republican and Independent voters are reminded of how corrupt the establishment has become.

Their view of the lesser of two evils is shifting.

By Wednesday we will know whether the Republicans and Independents who are now accepting Trump will be enough to put him over the top. But what is clear enough today is that the voters who reject the establishment and view it as incurably corrupt will give Clinton no quarter if she manages to eke out a victory. At the same time, the establishment’s hatred of Trump will foment Washington battles the likes of which we have never seen, if he wins on Tuesday.

There is a lot hanging in the balance in this election.

But only one question will determine the outcome.

If Trump wins on Tuesday, it will be the establishment he defeats.

Europe
Austria Sends Troops to Hungary-Serbia Border
[AnNahar] Austria on Thursday sent 60 troops to Hungary's border with non-EU Serbia as Vienna's defense minister warned that the EU's migrants colonists deal with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
was "showing cracks."

Austria's defense ministry said that the soldiers will not be armed or be involved in intercepting people making it past Hungary's border fence with Serbia.

Hungary has been criticized by rights groups and others for its alleged mistreatment of refugees and its refusal to take in some of the huge numbers of refugees who arrived in Europe in 2015.

Based at Hodmezovasarhely near Szeged in south-east Hungary initially for six months, the Austrian soldiers are sappers who will help build roads and erect containers.

Defense Minister Hans Peter Doskozil said that EU countries needed to do more to protect their borders because the bloc's accord with Turkey risked unraveling.

"In my opinion the cracks in this accord are starting to show," Doskozil told Oe1 public radio. "We have a time window in Europe in which to organize ourselves" before the deal collapses, he said. "Therefore it is right, and high time, that... EU member states recognize this and confront this challenge, deal with the problem themselves and be ready to act themselves."

Under the EU-Turkey deal in force since March, Ankara agreed to take back migrants colonists who made it to Greece in return for being allowed to send Syrians to the bloc in an orderly redistribution program.

However Greece has been slow to send migrants colonists back to Turkey. Athens says this is because many have applied for asylum which means that they cannot be moved until the claims are processed.

In addition Greece complains that the EU has failed to provide additional assistance as promised and to share enough of the thousands of migrants colonists around the bloc.

Athens wants to transfer some of the nearly 16,000 migrants colonists on its islands to the mainland but faces opposition from EU partners who fear a mass resurgence of migrants colonists heading north, Greek migration minister Yannis Mouzalas said Monday.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran has 25,000 Shiite fighters in Syria, says ex-Shin Bet chief
[IsraelTimes] Likud MK Avi Dichter warns Tehran has not abandoned its nuclear aspirations and seeks to rebuild the Persian empire

Iran commands a force of up to 25,000 Shiite Moslem hard boyz fighting in the Syrian civil war, a majority of them from Afghanistan and Pakistain, according to former Shin Bet chief Avi Dichter, who now chairs the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

In a briefing with a delegation from the Swiss parliament, Dichter, a Likud MK, also echoed warnings issued previously by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials who have said that Iran has not abandoned its aspirations to develop nuclear weapons and was playing a long game with the West, despite the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal with western powers.

Iran, he added, "has not abandoned the idea [of pursuing] nuclear weapons. It only put it on hold so it can recover [from sanctions] and rehabilitate its international image."

Tehran and six world powers signed the accord last summer aimed at reining in Iran’s controversial atomic program in exchange for lifting punishing international sanctions. A number of regional Sunni states opposed the agreement, as has Israel, warning that Iran was simply playing for time.

"Up until a year and a half ago, Iran was the reason for regional instability. It’s amazing and sad to see how among Western states, it is now perceived as a stabilizing force," Dichter said.

Dichter also warned of Iran’s global aspirations as a Mideast power, explaining that the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s "dream is to control Islam’s holiest sites -- Mecca and Medina."

"We have to ask ourselves, why are the Iranians developing missiles that can reach targets 2,000 km away, more than twice the distance [from Iran] to Israel? Egypt and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
are also in their cross-hairs. Some 2,000 years ago, Iran was an empire and it wants to become one again," he said.

In Syria, Dichter said the "foreign legion" of 25,000 was sent to fight Sunni rebels opposed to Iranian ally Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
, and not only against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terror group.

Dichter said that fighters from Iranian proxy Hezbollah were dispatched to Syria because the Lebanese terror group’s hard boyz were more suited to guerrilla warfare and to fighting against terrorist organizations, unlike soldiers from the Iranian military who are versed in fighting other armies.

But, he warned, more than five years of fighting in Syria has strengthened Hezbollah’s abilities and training, turning it into a "more established and military-like" fighting force, despite its losses -- some 1,600 according to Dichter -- in the war.

Amid a spate of terror attacks in Europe over the past two years, perpetrated by terror cells linked to the Islamic State or an al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria and often consisting of Moslem men who left their European birth countries to fight in Syria, Dichter insisted Europe must act to prevent imported muscle from returning to the continent.

"Those who go to Iraq or Syria, it’s not to attend a Bob Dylan performance, and European security services must operate accordingly," he told the delegation.

The Grand Turk
Turkey Coup Trials to Begin Early 2017
[AnNahar] The first trials of the thousands of suspects arrested in the wake of Turkey's failed July 15 coup aimed at ousting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will begin in early 2017, the chief Ankara prosecutor said on Thursday.

Thousands of ex-soldiers, legal workers and civilians are currently in jail pending trial on suspicion of involvement in the coup, which Ankara says was masterminded by the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen.

"Without giving an exact date, we are expecting to begin the first trials at the start of 2017," Ankara's chief prosecutor Harun Kodalak said in comments published by Turkish media.

He added: "There could be a trial or trials opened in the last month of this year but it is in 2017 that we are planning to open a series of trials," he said.

The trials are expected to be the most substantial legal process in Turkey in its modern history, with purpose-built facilities needed to be set up in some areas.

The scale of the crackdown and the duration of the suspects' stay in pre-trial detention has caused international concern and strained Turkey's ties with the European Union.

Gulen, who has been based in the United States since the late 1990s, has vehemently denied the claims of his involvement in the coup.

Turkish officials have in recent days said two civilians -- a theology lecturer named Adil Oksuz and businessman Kemal Batmaz -- were in charge of organizing the coup bid from the Akinci airbase in Ankara.

According to prosecutors, the two were in the United States and only returned to Turkey two days before the coup bid.

Batmaz is in custody in Sincan prison outside Ankara. Embarrassingly for the Turkish authorities, Oksuz was detained in the aftermath of the coup but then released and is now on the run.

According to Kodalak, video footage has confirmed that Batmaz was at the base on the night of the coup. Batmaz has denied involvement in the coup.

Turkish officials have said that Oksuz was the so-called "imam" of the plot and in charge of coordinating between Gulen and the army.

But Kodalak said Batmaz "could be as important as Adil Oksuz and even his superior."

According to a report Wednesday by Turkey's NTV television, the authorities had thwarted a mass escape plan by 5,544 coup suspects.

Swiss prosecutors find evidence of spying at Iran nuclear talks
[IsraelTimes] Cybersecurity firms had intimated Israel was behind hacking attack on 2015 Geneva negotiations

Swiss authorities suspended an 18-month investigation into suspected cyber-spying during international talks on Iran’s nuclear program last year, saying they have turned up criminal wrongdoing but haven’t found out who was behind it.

The office of Attorney General Michael Lauber said the investigation prompted by a report from Swiss intelligence authorities turned up malware "developed for the purposes of espionage" to scoop up data on many computers at a Geneva hotel. The talks in question took place at the President Wilson hotel.

Kaspersky, a Russian-based cybersecurity firm, announced at the time that it had uncovered the campaign, saying the malware was so sophisticated that a government must have created it.

Suspicion turned toward Israel at one point, after Kaspersky said that malware code dubbed Duqu, which, according to the Wall Street Journal, is believed to be used by Israeli spies, also appeared to have been used to spy on the nuclear talks.

The malware allows the hacker to eavesdrop on conversations and steal electronic files, and could also enable the hacker to operate two-way microphones in hotel elevators, computers and alarm systems.

The Journal quoted "current and former US officials and many cybersecurity experts (as believing that) Duqu was designed to carry out Israel’s most sensitive intelligence-collection operations."

Kaspersky never implicated Israel by name in its report on the Geneva talks. But it did conclude the threat in that case came from the same source as the original Duqu virus, and said it was likely carried out by a nation-state.

After the launch of the investigation, Israel denied its secret services were involved. In an interview with Israel’s Army Radio, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely insisted there was "no basis" to reports of Israel’s involvement.

Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan also flatly rejected the allegations at the time, calling them "nonsense" in an interview with Israel Radio and saying Israel had other ways of gathering intelligence and didn’t need to resort to hacking.

Iranian comander sez US in strong decline
[al-Manar] A senior Iranian military official welcomed Thursday the “strong decline” of the United States, during celebrations marking the start of the 1979 US embassy siege.

“America is no longer number one and the first power of the world,” deputy Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami told thousands gathered outside the former US mission in Tehran.

“America’s political will can no longer manage political and military development in… the world of Islam. America’s political power has strongly declined.”

Every year on November 3-4, Iran celebrates the 444-day siege of the embassy when more than 50 diplomats, staff and spies were taken hostage by Iranian students demanding the extradition of the shah, who had fled to America after being deposed a few months earlier in the Islamic revolution.

Protesters on Thursday chanted the traditional rallying cries of “Death to America” and “Death to Al Saud”.

“Our fight with the Americans will continue” Salami said. “Pursuing our ideals in the world of Islam and in Iran, we will recognize no stopping point or red line.

He also warned the US not to criticize Iran’s ballistic missiles, calling its system “the real centre of our power (that) must be strengthened.”

[Iran Press TV] Yemen’s Saleh army and Houthi Popular Committees have killed several Saudi troops in the kingdom’s southern province of Najran, in retaliation for Riyadh's aggression against its impoverished neighboring country.

According to a Yemen's Arabic-language al-Masirah news channel, the Yemeni forces launched a rocket attack on the Saudi al-Sadis military camp, inflicting fatal injuries on a number of Saudi soldiers and heavily damaging the base on Thursday.

In another rocket attack, the Yemeni troops also managed to destroy at least three Hummer military vehicles used by the Saudis in the province's Nahouqa and Hamr districts, killing their crew.

The Yemeni forces also managed to destroy two other Saudi military vehicles in the Sirwah district of Yemen’s central province of Ma'rib, kill all of their occupants.

Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
says its army launches such attacks in retaliation for Riyadh’s relentless Arclight airstrikes on its nation.

Over 100 dead in new migrant tragedy, second wreck feared
[DAWN] At least 110 people are feared to have drowned off Libya when a migrant boat capsized, and more may have died in another stricken vessel, the UN's refugee agency said Thursday, citing survivor testimony.

"A vessel with around 140 people on board overturned Wednesday just a few hours after setting off from Libya, throwing everyone into the water. Only 29 people survived," UNHCR spokesperson Carlotta Sami told AFP.

The Norwegian vessel Siem Pilot was first on the scene, some 20 nautical miles off Libya, and rescued the survivors - all of whom were in poor condition after spending hours in the water - and recovered 12 bodies.

Those pulled to safety were transferred to the island of Lampedusa by the Italian coasties.

In what could be a second incident, which could not be immediately confirmed by the coasties, two women told the UN agency they believed they were the only survivors in an disaster in which some 125 people drowned.

"They told us they were on a faulty dinghy which began to sank as soon as they set sail. They were the only survivors," Sami said.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) quoted the same survivors but put the total corpse count at around 240 people.

"Not enough has been done so far to avoid these tragedies," intoned Flavio di Giacomo, IOM front man in Italia.

The captain stands, throws some dinars on the bar, and walks straight as a javelin out of the bar. He should have sea legs, and he left his coat and vest on the barstool.

Europe
Italian police deny allegations of abusing refugees
[Iran Press TV] Italia’s police have rejected a report by prominent rights group Amnesia Amnesty International that their forces used violence and brutality in dealing with refugees.

"I categorically deny that violent methods are used on migrants colonists," Italian police chief Franco Gabrielli said in a statement on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Amnesty said Italian police have used measures which may amount to "torture" while attempting to fingerprint refugees trying to enter the country.

The allegations of abuse included beatings, electric shocks and sexual humiliation in cases involving mainly African asylum seekers who wanted to cross Italia to reach other European states.

Gabrielli said his officers, who worked alongside European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
officials and human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
groups in the refugee centers, had displayed enormous responsibility in their duties regarding the refugees.

Following the closure of all land crossings, the sea route across the Mediterranean to Italia became the main way for asylum-seekers fleeing conflict and persecution in Africa to reach Europe in search of a better life.

Thanks To The Clintons, We Have Achieved A Full Blown Constitutional Crisis
But I digress. Ignore the gnashing of partisan hacks in the media and elsewhere. We have achieved full constitutional crisis. Hillary Clinton, Democrat candidate for POTUS, and her husband and former POTUS, are now under criminal investigation with indictments very, very likely.

Who in this country wants their new President-elect and a former President under indictment come January 2017 when the new president is supposed to be sworn in?

Who in this country wants to have Nixon to the second power, with two members of our elite POTUS club spending their time and energy fighting off the FBI and using a politicized Department of Justice (and IRS) to try and hold onto power?

Who in this country wants 4 years where nothing is done for We The People, and every avenue of government is focused on protecting The Clinton Foundation and pay-for-play??

The demographics are rapidly pushing this nation toward a post-sovereign, bankrupt, unincorporated reality. Pols and Washington insiders clearly see it and are jockeying for positions. The rest of us (the irredeemable deplorables) are little more than bitterenders stuck on post-war nostalgia. Demographics do matter.

In the end, the treacherous Kissinger felt sorry for Smith, a man he deeply respected. Compromise with the communists was set and the die had been cast. Majority Rule would bring about peace and an end to the constant conflict and bloodshed. Mugabe could be dealt with through bribes and natural resource peddling. The privileged few would suffer, but a leveling of the economic playing field could finally be achieved. The builders of the nation would have to eventually move elsewhere. Kissinger and the globalists would in the end, prevail.

Five children and six women were among those killed.

In addition, 30 others were wounded including the bride.

According to security officials, the rocket was fired by armed opponents.

'The FBI is Trumpland': anti-Clinton atmosphere spurred leaks, sources say
[THEGUARDIAN] Deep antipathy to Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another James Baker ...
exists within the FBI, multiple bureau sources have told the Guardian, spurring a rapid series of leaks damaging to her campaign just days before the election.
Wonder why -- perhaps it's because the field agents have talked with the Service Service guys, the White House cleaning staff, the travel agency staff, and the Arkansas troopers, and understand what Hillary thinks of them?
Current and former FBI officials, none of whom were willing or cleared to speak on the record, have described a chaotic internal climate that resulted from outrage over director James Comey’s July decision not to recommend an indictment over Clinton’s maintenance of a private email server on which classified information transited.

"The FBI is Trumpland," said one current agent.

This atmosphere raises major questions about how Comey and the bureau he is slated to run for the next seven years can work with Clinton should she win the White House.

The currently serving FBI agent said Clinton is "the antichrist personified to a large swath of FBI personnel," and that "the reason why they’re leaking is they’re pro-Trump."
Alternately, they're disgusted that a prominent politician and presidential candidate views herself as above the law, and is promoted that way by the media...
The agent called the bureau "Trumplandia", with some colleagues openly discussing voting for a GOP nominee who has garnered unprecedented condemnation from the party’s national security wing and who has pledged to jail Clinton if elected.

FBI finds emails related to Hillary Clinton's State Department tenure on Carlos Danger's computer
[CBSNEWS] The FBI has found emails related to Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as The Heroine of Tuzla and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Bainbridge Colby ...
’s tenure as secretary of state on the laptop belonging to the estranged husband of Huma Abedin, Anthony Carlos Danger Weiner
...aka Hot Dog Tony, the remarkably offensive sex maniac six-term New York congressman who resigned in 2011, then decided everybody had forgotten by 2013, when he decided to run for mayor of New York City...
, according to a U.S. official.

These emails, CBS News’ Andres Triay reports, are not duplicates of emails found on Secretary Clinton’s private server. At this point, however, it remains to be seen whether these emails are significant to the FBI’s investigation into Clinton. It is also not known how many relevant emails there are.

In a letter to Congress last Friday, FBI Director James Comey indicated that the agency was taking steps to review newly discovered emails relating to Clinton’s private email server. Those emails came from the laptop of Weiner, a former New York congressman. Abedin reportedly said she had no knowledge of the existence of any of her emails on Weiner’s laptop. On Monday, CBS News reported that the FBI had obtained a warrant for the emails.

In a separate matter, CBS News confirmed that there were disagreements between FBI agents looking into the Clinton Foundation and their superiors in Washington and at the Department of Justice. The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the FBI was facing an "internal feud" over how to handle the Clinton Foundation case in the middle of election season. Officials say tension like this is common in many cases.

It is still unclear whether the FBI inquiry into the Clinton Foundation was a full-blown investigation. The current status of that inquiry is also unclear. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
no known charges have been filed related to the foundation.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian militants used humanitarian pause for regrouping forces: Russian FM
[ALMASDARNEWS] Militants in Syria have used the humanitarian pause for regrouping forces and building up arsenals, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing on Thursday.

"The situation in Syria is very grave," she said.

"Jabhat al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
(now renamed to Fateh al-Sham
...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant...
) and the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(both outlawed in Russia) used the October 20-23 humanitarian pause, introduced for easing the position of civilians locked up in Aleppo.

"They have regrouped forces, built up reserves and then tried to break through the defenses of Syrian government forces by launching a major offensive on western Aleppo on October 28-30," Zakharova said.

Afghanistan
Spanish ambassador to Afghanistan faces investigation after Taliban attack
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Spanish ambassador to Afghanistan is facing investigation after a deadly attack by Taliban left at least 6 people dead, including 2 Spanish and 4 Afghan coppers.

The Spanish High Court judge agreed on Wednesday to investigate allegations that Spain’s ambassador to Afghanistan ignored security concerns before the Taliban attack.

The widow of one of the dead coppers and seven Spanish coppers injured in the attack had accused the ambassador in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
, Emilio Perez de Agreda, and his former deputy, Oriol Sola Pardel, of involuntary manslaughter over the alleged security failings, Rooters reported.

According to the complaint filed, the French secret service warned on the morning of the bombing of the risk of an attack against the embassy and that this should have led to extraordinary security measures being taken.

The attack by the Taliban faceless myrmidons took place in December last year targeting a guest house attacked to the Spanish embassy in Kabul.

Talibs launched the attack with a jacket wallah detonating a vehicle packed with explosives close to the embassy of Spain in Sherpoor area of Kabul city around 6:00 pm local time.

The kaboom triggered a standoff between the security forces and the assailants who took position in a compound close to the blast site.

Washington Imposes Sanctions on Yemeni Money Exchange Company
That'll show 'em!
The US Department of the Treasury has imposed financial sanctions on a Yemeni company called Al-Omgy and Brothers Money Exchange (Al-Omgy Exchange). The Treasury mentioned that Al-Qaeda used this company to receive and make payments in Yemen, and that it recently pledged to provide Al-Qaeda with a 10 per cent commission on all financial transactions.

The United States also imposed sanctions on the owners of the company Saeed Saleh Abd Rabbuh Al-Omgy and Mohammed Saleh Abd Rabbuh Al-Omgy and accused them of belonging to Al-Qaeda.

The US Department of the Treasury said that the Yemeni company’s assets in America have been frozen and financial transactions with them have been halted. The Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Adam Szubin said that the sanctions are part of the US Treasury’s efforts to cut off funding sources for Al-Qaeda and weaken its ability to implement violent attacks.

According to the US Department of the Treasury, UAE’s central bank has also taken steps in the UAE to prevent the company’s access to the UAE’s financial sector.

On its part, the company denied its “involvement in any activities to transfer funds to AQAP (Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula)” and said that the claims were simply “biased rumours” that aim to “damage our reputation”.

State Dept. Emails: Clinton White House Data Stolen from National Archives
[LIFEZETTE] A newly released email from the State Department shows that Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as The Heroine of Tuzla and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Richelieu ...

...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
’s White House records.

On April 13, 2009, Clinton attorney Cheryl Mills informed newly sworn-in Secretary of State Hillary Clinton via email that the National Archives could not account for a two-terabyte hard drive.

"The drive may contain a wide range of memos, emails, and other electronic documents from the Clinton White House."

The hard drive contained information from the administration of her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

The email was made public from State Department files on Thursday as part of an ongoing release of recovered emails that had been previously deleted from Clinton’s private server.

The forwarded email said the National Archives had a duplicate and was examining it to know what was stolen. It was stolen or misplaced between Jan. 30, 2009, and March 24, 2009.

[DAWN] LAHORE: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Wednesday to have killed nine Al Qaeda turbans in an encounter in Sheikhupura in wee hours of Wednesday after raiding their hideout.

A CTD front man said they received a tip-off that some turbans were hiding in Kheroki Malian, Sheikhupura, to launch attacks on police personnel and offices of sensitive agencies in and around Lahore.

He said a police team raided the place around 1am to arrest the suspects, making announcements asking them to surrender.

He said the suspects, who were in two to three small groups, started firing at CTD personnel. He said the CTD personnel returned the fire in self-defence. When the firing stopped, the personnel found nine bad boys, yet to be identified, lying dead.

The CTD claimed the suspects were killed in firing by their own accomplices.

The front man said some four to five suspects expeditiously departed at a goodly pace taking benefit of darkness.

He said the CTD team searched the bad boys’ hideout and recovered six kilograms of kaboom, prima cord, four Kalashnikovs, five pistols, as many cycle of violences and bullets.

The team later also launched a search operation in and around Sheikhupura to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Police shifted the bodies to city morgue for identification and started investigation after registration of a case against the suspects, the front man said.

Green Beret, Cleared of Wrongdoing in Hostage Squabble, Trades Mugshot for Medal
I wonder if this was aimed at the good Col. Amerine or at Rep. Hunter...
Embattled Green Beret soldier Lt. Col. Jason Amerine retired and reclaimed his honor on Friday after the Army's criminal probe into his actions related to efforts to save Americans held captive overseas abruptly collapsed, thus ending one of the oddest chapters in what critics call an ongoing disaster of U.S. hostage recovery.

Amerine, who was awarded a Bronze Star with the Valor device for his actions in Afghanistan, for several years led a secret Pentagon office tasked with trying to find a way to free Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from the Taliban. The secret group also took on the cases of other Americans and Canadians believed held by Taliban and al Qaeda in South Asia.

But in January his security clearance was suddenly pulled and his planned retirement from the Army this year postponed, when the Army launched an investigation into Amerine and his alleged leaking of classified information about hostage recovery efforts to a congressional office.

#1  This enrages me! I would have hoped the FBI would have learned its lesson after the failed Burnham negotiation in 2002. They have a center of the universe attitude that gets people killed. Someone in the FBI needs to get over themselves and direct some real policy on helping to rescue these Americans and get past the petty stovepipe they live in.

Iraq
ISIL Leader Baghdadi Losing Control of His Troops
When you have compatriots making off with millions of simoleons, you'd lose control of your troops, too
[al-Manar] ISIL group’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is losing the ability to keep control of his troops as the battle for Mosul rages on, a US military official said Thursday.

ISIL earlier released an audio message purportedly of Baghdadi, in which he urged his ‘jihadi’ followers not retreat as Iraqi security forces continue their push toward Mosul.

Colonel John Dorrian, a spokesman for the US-led coalition attacking ISIL in Iraq and Syria, said the military had not officially verified the authenticity of the recording but noted it was “clearly” an effort for ISIL to communicate with fighters.

“One of the interesting things that we have seen in the English translation of this is that Baghdadi is saying, ‘Don’t fight amongst yourselves,'” Dorrian told reporters.

“This is the type of thing that a leader who is losing command and control and ability to keep everybody on the same page says. We don’t believe it is going to work.”

Rumors have abounded about the Iraqi ‘jihadist’ leader’s health and movements but his whereabouts are unclear.

al-Qaeda operative wins the Virgin Dating Game in Syria
[AlArabiya] A US drone strike in Syria last month killed an Al-Qaeda member with ties to the organization’s senior leadership, the Pentagon said Wednesday.

The October 17 strike near Idlib northwestern Syria killed Haydar Kirkan, who “was intent on plotting and carrying out attacks against the West,” Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said.

“He was a long serving and experienced courier for Al-Qaeda in Syria. He had ties to Al-Qaeda’s senior leaders to include Osama bin Laden himself, and he was Al-Qaeda’s senior external terror attack planner in Syria,” Davis said, without describing any of the purported plots.

In recent weeks, the Pentagon has targeted other Al-Qaeda members. On October 23, US drone strikes targeted two top Qaeda leaders in Afghanistan.

While officials have not confirmed any deaths, they are privately confident the strikes killed Farouq al-Qahtani, Al-Qaeda’s emir for northeastern Afghanistan, and his deputy Bilal al-Utabi.

On October 21 in Yemen, five Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) members were killed in a US air strike, including local AQAP leader Abu Hadi al-Bayhani, Davis said.

“Al-Qaeda doesn’t recognize borders when they conspire to commit terrorist attacks against the West, and we will continue to work with our partners and allies to find and destroy their leaders, their fighters and their cells that are planning attacks externally,” Davis said.

Iranians mark US embassy takeover by students
[Iran Press TV] Iranians have taken to the streets across the nation to demonstrate their disapproval of US policies on the anniversary of the takeover of the American embassy in Tehran 37 years ago.

November 3 corresponds with the 13th of Aban in the Iranian calendar, which is known as the Student Day to honor those who stormed the "den of spies" and captured its operatives.

Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
...the successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the actual dictator of Iran...
said on Wednesday the seizure of the center of espionage, which aimed to overthrow the Islamic Theocratic Republic, was the "natural response" to Washington's hostilities.

Despite decades after the incident and direct talks between authorities of the two countries, the US still pursues an aggressive policy towards the Islamic Theocratic Republic, the Leader added.

The late founder of the Islamic Theocratic Republic, Imam Khomeini, hailed the takeover as a "second revolution" after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 which toppled the Shah of Iran.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Gawker settles Hulk Hogan privacy case for $31 million
The defunct US news website Gawker has settled a lawsuit won by retired US professional wrestler Hulk Hogan for $31m (£25m). The privacy case forced Gawker to declare bankruptcy earlier this year, after a jury awarded Mr Hogan $140m over a leaked sex tape.

Mr Hogan's legal bill was paid by tech billionaire Peter Thiel, who said he wanted to curb Gawker's "bullying". Mr Thiel co-founded PayPal and was an early shareholder in Facebook.

In a New York Times article in August explaining why he had funded the case, he said his own privacy had been violated when Gawker outed him as a gay man in 2007. Campaign group Reporters without Borders, however, criticised Mr Thiel's "secret" involvement in the case, calling it a "serious threat" to press freedom.

Gawker shut down in August following the judgement. The website, launched in the early 2000s, was known for its acerbic tone and aggressive coverage of celebrities.

The case involved a video posted by Gawker in 2012 after Mr Hogan was secretly recorded having sex with his friend's wife.

The settlement was announced on Wednesday in a blog post by Gawker founder Nick Denton, who called the conclusion of the case "a hard peace". He said the company and staff were confident the appeals process would reduce the judgement against Gawker, but that "all-out legal war would have cost too much, and hurt too many people, and there was no end in sight."

Mr Denton also said that as part of the settlement, three "true stories " would be "removed from the web". Two other cases against Gawker journalists were also dropped.

He said it was "a settlement that allows us all to move on, and focus on activities more productive than endless litigation."

Mr Denton, who was also held liable along with the journalist who wrote the article, filed for personal bankruptcy following the $140m judgement. Gawker media also filed for bankruptcy, and shuttered the long-running blog Gawker.com in August.

ISIS claims it shot down Russian aircraft in Homs
[ARA News] Homs – The Islamic State (ISIS) militant group on Thursday announced responsibility for shooting down a Russian warplane in Syria’s central governorate of Homs.

Local sources told ARA News that the aircraft was shot down in the Hwesis District east of Homs.

ISIS leadership said in a statement, released by the jihadi Amaq Agency, that their fighters destroyed a Russian military helicopter after targeting it with a rocket.

The jihadist news outlet also released images purportedly showing the destroyed Russian aircraft.

Meanwhile, the Russia Defense Ministry said in a statement that one of its warplanes was hit by militant shells, but didn’t provide any further details about the incident or the destiny of the plane’s crew.

ISIS militants have previously downed several warplanes over Syria.

On July 9th, two Russian pilots died near the Syrian city of Palmyra when their helicopter was shot down by ISIS fighters.

On July 22, the extremist group blew up a Syrian warplane in the Homs Governorate. The jihadi Amaq Agency released images showing a destroyed Syrian warplane, claiming that it crashed after ISIS militants hit it with a rocket. Local activists told ARA News that the warplane was struck after entering the airspace of Jib al-Jarrah District in Homs.

On September 23, ISIS claimed responsibility for shooting down a US drone that had been flying over the Iraqi-Syrian border. The drone was knocked out near Shaddadi city in Hasakah Governorate. Local sources told to ARA News that the drone crashed after being strafed with machine guns.

On September 21st, the extremist group shot down a Syrian jet in a Damascus suburb. A Syrian Army commander, at the time, told ARA News: “Shortly after taking off from the Dumair Airbase in a Damascus suburb, the warplane was targeted by terrorist fire and crashed over eastern Qalamoun.”

On October 21st, the group shot down an American warplane near the town of Margada, in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah Governorate. ISIS said it destroyed an A-10 Thunderbolt jet after riddling it with heavy machine guns.

Soldier lightly wounded in West Bank shooting, third attack within a few hours
[IsraelTimes] An IDF soldier was lightly maimed in his knee Thursday night in a shooting attack at a checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarem. Medics treated him at the site. According to initial reports, he was struck in the knee by ricocheting bullets.

Security forces located the source of the fire, the IDF said. Several shell casings were found at the scene. Troops have launched a manhunt for the suspected shooter.

Earlier Thursday, authorities reported a suspected drive-by shooting at the guard post outside the settlement of Ofra, which lies northeast of Ramallah. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Also Thursday, IDF troops foiled an attempted stabbing attack by a Paleostinian assailant near Ofra, the army said. The assailant was rubbed out at the scene. The Paleostinian, carrying a knife, approached the servicemen near a bus stop outside the settlement, where the soldiers had been standing guard. The assailant was identified by the Paleostinian health ministry as Maan Nasser al-Din Abu Qara, 23, from the nearby town of Mazra’a al-Qibliya.

for a 2015 Molotov cocktail attack that injured a three-year old girl north of Jerusalem.

The Shin Bet announced Thursday that three individuals have been arrested in connection with an October 2015 Molotov cocktail attack that maimed a three-year-old girl north of Jerusalem.

43-year-old Khaled Badhe, a resident of the Kadura refugee camp in Ramallah, 34-year-old Lu’ie Namer of the el-Amri refugee camp, also in Ramallah, and 27-year-old Abed al-Majid Badra of Bitunia were detained in recent weeks by a joint operation of Shin Bet, Israel Police and IDF forces.

A spokesperson for the Shin Bet said in a statement that the Molotov cocktail incident was one of a series of terror attacks committed by the suspects in the area.

Also Thursday, the Jerusalem district prosecutor indicted 20-year-old Murad Hajbi on two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon. The indictment, which was filed in the Jerusalem District Court, says Hajbi left his home in the Silwan neighborhood on October 19 and tried to run over two Orthodox Jews on Hebron Road. One man was maimed in the attack, and Hajbi then stabbed the second man in the face before being neutralized.

Prosecutors have asked the court to extend Hajbi’s remand until the completion of all legal proceedings against him.

In addition, a Paleostinian man was arrested at the entrance to the Shuafat refugee camp when security forces found a cache of weapons in his car, including a weapons belt, combat goggles and tear gas.

The man was detained for questioning.

ISIS destroys government buildings in Anah

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – Islamic State militants have exploded government buildings in Anah city, 190 km west of Ramadi, Al Sumaria News reported on Thursday.

“ISIS has begun exploding government buildings…they exploded the agriculture department and military drafting buildings, among others,”Al Sumaria stated.

The Iraqi media outlet added that the ISIS militants had planted landmines and IEDs inside the buildings before detonating them by remote controls, assuming that the action was an apparent revenge as security forces and tribal militias embark on a campaign to clear the city of Islamic State militants.

The city of Anah fell into the ISIS grip in mid 2014. A campaign to liberate the city is imminent.

Islamic State fighters are currently struggling in face of a massive operation by Iraqi army forces and allied al-Hashd al-Shaabi militias to liberate the city of Mosul, ISiS last stronghold in Iraq. The operation, codenamed “We Are Comig, Nineveh”, has so far proven successful, with ISIS fighters reportedly fleeing the city to Syria, sustaining severe losses in personnel and supplies.

“The air strike also destroyed large number of IEDs and Hell missiles that were used by the extremist group to attack security forces and civilians, as well as destructing four booby-trapped vehicles belonging to the ISIS,” Jaghifi added.

Afghanistan
30 Civilians Die In Kunduz Operation
Guess they're gonna let Gawd sort 'em out.
Kunduz Governor Assadullah Omarkhail confirmed late Thursday night that close to 30 civilians were killed and dozens wounded in the joint Afghan and U.S military operation in the Boz Kandahari area in Kunduz overnight Wednesday.

Omarkhail said that among the dead were children and a three-month-old baby.

He also said 28 Taliban fighters had been killed - an increase in the earlier toll of 14.

Earlier Thursday night, the presidential palace issued a statement that said during the military operation insurgents infiltrated residential areas and used people as human shields.

"President (Ashraf) Ghani was shocked after hearing the news of the civilian death toll and directed the security and defense officials and Kunduz governor to take all necessary steps during operations to prevent civilian casualties," the statement read.

The statement noted that Ghani has assigned a task team to probe the incident.

"The president also ordered Kunduz governor and other relevant security and civilian officials to ensure the delivery of necessary aid to the families of victims and make sure the best treatment is made available to those injured in the incident," the statement added.

At least 14 insurgents were killed in joint operations overnight Wednesday. The operations included airstrikes by foreign forces.

Ministry of Defense spokesman Dawlat Waziri confirmed earlier that three Afghan commandos and two U.S Special Forces were also killed in the military operation.

He said that a further seven commandos and two special forces members were wounded during the operation.

Resolute Support also confirmed the death of two of their service members.

Ghani shocked at death toll in Kunduz
Taking a page from Obammer's playbook: "He just read about it in the press, like everyone else. As soon as he finds out which government did this, heads will roll!"
Amid growing concerns over civilian casualties in the latest Kunduz military operation, the presidential palace on Thursday night said in a statement that during a military operation on Wednesday night insurgents infiltrated residential areas and used people as human shields in the Boz Kandahari area of Kunduz leaving a number of women and children dead and wounded.

Kunduz police have so far confirmed three dead.

"President Ghani was shocked after hearing the news of the civilian death toll and directed the security and defense officials and Kunduz governor to take all necessary steps during operations to prevent civilian casualties," the statement read.

The statement noted that Ghani has assigned a task team to probe the incident in order to implement the law against those who committed this inhumane act.

"The president also ordered Kunduz governor and other relevant security and civilian officials to ensure the delivery of necessary aid to the families of victims and make sure the best treatment is made available to those injured in the incident," the statement added.

Meanwhile, former president Hamid Karzai has also condemned foreign troops for conducting air strikes on Afghan villages and towns.

"Former president has once again raised his deep concerns over the fatalities among the civilians in the result of air strikes carried out by the foreign forces where a number of women and children were killed," the statement read.

"The former president reiterated that any attack under any pretext on villages and homes of Afghans is not acceptable," the statement said.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the number of civilian casualties in the area is much higher than the figure being announced by the security and government officials.

Security officials in the northern province of Kunduz said Thursday that the Afghan special forces and their foreign counterparts inflicted massive casualties to the Taliban insurgents after killing fourteen of them including a top commander.

At least 14 insurgents were killed in joint operations between Afghan special commandos and foreign troops' airstrikes in northern Kunduz province on Wednesday night, police 808 Spinzar zone said in a statement earlier Thursday.

The operations and airstrikes were launched in Kandahari, Alchin, Mullah Sardar, Kalta Tay, Hazrat Sultan villages in Kunduz.

Ministry of Defense spokesman Dawlat Waziri confirmed Thursday that three Afghan commandos and two U.S Special Forces were killed in the military operation in Kunduz.

He said that a further seven commandos and two special forces members were wounded during the operation.

Resolute Support also confirmed the death of two of their service members.

In a press release issued Thursday afternoon RS commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John W. Nicholson, said: "Despite today's tragic event, we are steadfast in our commitment to help our Afghan partners defend their nation."

He said the service members came under fire during a train, advise and assist mission with Afghan partners to clear a Taliban position and disrupt the group's operations in Kunduz district in Kunduz province.

Meanwhile a number of residents in Kunduz have said that more than twenty civilians were killed during the operation. But local officials have rejected the claims.

"All of the victims were women and children and there was no Taliban," said a resident of Kunduz.

"They come to the village and took some pictures, but casualties are much higher," said another resident.

Speaking on the civilian casualty toll in Kunduz, Brigadier General Charles Cleveland, Deputy Chief of Staff for Communication, Resolute Support said: "As part of an Afghan operation, friendly forces received direct fire and airstrikes were conducted to defend themselves. We take all allegations of civilian casualties very seriously."

WikiLeaks: Hillary's REPULSIVE ‘team' mocked Benghazi hearings, called them a ‘game' #PodestaEmails27
Because testifying about the murder of four Americans in Benghazi was clearly not a serious deal to Team Hillary.

Of course we already knew that, how else could she have so boldly lied about their deaths to their families while their caskets laid in front of her.

Political theater. Finding out what really happened to Stevens, Doherty, Woods and Smith was theater, and Democrats wonder why we hate them.

And the line about putting the blame on Congress in their minds effectively admonishing Hillary of all wrong doing.

Oh and the bit about shaming the committee for asking questions about dead Americans, how absolutely sanctimonious and awful. It comes off a little like, "How dare you little people question the queen."

This is repugnant.

Southeast Asia
Three killed in 19 attacks across southern Thailand
[Khaosod] Jittraporn Banjong was near the checkout counter when two men with covered faces entered the 7-Eleven where she was working. They fired a gunshot and told everyone to get down before pouring gasoline all over. The four employees escaped through the back door just as the fire spread through the convenience store at a gas station in Pattani province. They later learned the attackers placed an improvised explosive device in front of the gas station to attack responding authorities.

The arson and bombing was among 19 similar attacks to strike three southern provinces Wednesday night, killing three people and wounding five others. In addition to military and police targets, many of the attacks targeted infrastructure such as utility poles.

Not far from the convenience store were 13 representatives of the junta's interim cabinet, who had arrived earlier for unprecedented, high-level talks with local religious leaders about the ongoing peace talks and economic development in the region.

A spokesman for the Internal Security Operations Command, a special military unit that answers only to the prime minister, dismissed a link between the attacks and the Bangkok delegation’s visit. Col. Peerawat Sangthong said, "There was nothing to indicate it was because of the visit."

Among the three killed Wednesday night were two security guards at an automobile showroom in Songkhla province. They were gunned down by militants who then bombed the building. Another blast reportedly hit the showroom again Thursday morning. No one was hurt.

The third to die was a soldier who was shot when four gunmen on two motorcycles opened fire on a military facility in Pattani province.

In Pattani, 12 attacks hit targets including a military facility, utility poles and police box. Six blasts hit Songkhla’s Thepha and Chana districts, and one explosion was reported on a road in Narathiwat's Bacho district.

2 more Hindu temples vandalised in Jessore, Barisal
[Dhaka Tribune] In the wave of attacks on Hindu temples and their houses across the country, unknown people vandalised two temples and desecrated idols in two districts in the last 24 hours.
File under "Living with Moslems"
In Barisal, five idols were damaged by miscreants at the Central Hori Sobha Temple in Banaripara Bazar area early Thursday, reports our Barisal correspondent.

Eyewitness Renuka Debnath said: "Some masked men entered the temple around 6:15am and vandalised the idols with crowbars before the leaving the place in around five minutes."

Vivekananda Kundu, president of the temple management committee, said that they had never witnessed such communal attack since the temple was established 60 years ago.

He urged the law enforcers to tighten security in the area to avoid further attacks.

A case was filed over the incident. OC Ziaul Ahsan of Banaripara police said that they were trying to arrest the attackers.

Superintend of Police SM Akhtaruzzaman visited the area around 11am.

In Jessore town, two youths were caught red handed after they vandalised four to five idols of Dashpara Kali Temple around 10pm Wednesday.

Police later tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
the duo ‐ Shamim, son of Abdul Barek from Dharmotola of the town, and Jasim Hawlader, son of Tipu Hawlader of Sujolpur area in the town ‐ and filed a case against them, reports our Jessore correspondent.

OC of sadar police Ilias Hossain claimed that the youths were drug addicts. They first attacked the priest of the temple, Sadhon Kumar Paul, and then vandalised the idols as Sadhon tried to resist them.

Locals rushed to the spot after hearing screams, nabbed the duo, and handed them over to the police. SI Aurun Kumar filed the case.

The OC said that additional police were deployed in the area.

On October 30, at least 19 Hindu temples and Puja pavilions in Brahmanbaria, Habiganj and Gopalganj districts were vandalised over allegations of disrespect shown to Islam on Facebook by a youth. More than 100 people were also injured in the attacks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Ghost soldiers: the Russians secretly dying for the Kremlin in Syria
[Rooters] The start of this year proved deadly for one unit of about 100 Russian fighters supporting President Bashar al-Assad's troops in northern Syria.

On Feb. 3, 38-year-old Maxim Kolganov was killed in a firefight with rebels near Aleppo when a bullet pierced his body armor and heart. Then, on March 9, the same unit came under shell-fire near Palmyra, and Sergei Morozov, also 38, was hit and died on the way to hospital.

Back in southern Russia, medals were delivered to their families: the order of bravery, with certificates signed by President Vladimir Putin. The medals, seen by Reuters, were intended to honor the sacrifice they had made for their country.

Except Kolganov and Morozov were not employed by the Russian state. They were in Syria as private contractors, a small part of an army of such people who are being deployed secretly by the Kremlin in Syria.

The deaths of Kolganov and Morozov, and others like them, have not been made public. Families say they were given little information and told not discuss the cases. In at least one case, the family of a fighter killed in Syria received a payout of around $100,000 in compensation.

Officially, Russia is participating only in an air war over Syria with a small number of special forces on the ground. Moscow denies that its troops are involved in regular ground combat operations. However, in interviews with more than a dozen people with direct knowledge of these deployments, Reuters has established that Russian fighters are playing a more substantial role in ground combat than that the role the Kremlin says is being played by the regular Russian military.

Neither the Kremlin nor the defense ministry responded to questions from Reuters. Reuters was unable to obtain comment from Syrian officials on the question of Russian mercenaries. Reuters was not able to identify the company or companies that hired the fighters, or the source of any payments to the fighters or their families.

According to three people who knew Morozov and Kolganov, both had fought in Ukraine as part of the same unit that would eventually take them to Syria. It was led by a man who goes by the nomme de guerre "Vagner", who has become a leader of Russian mercenary forces in Syria, one of the sources said.

According to two people who knew different fighters, they arrive in Syria via ships that land in the port of Tartous, leased by the Russian navy, or in military aircraft that land at Russia's Hmeymim air base in western Syria.

A doctor at a Russian military hospital told Reuters the wounded are evacuated to Russia on board military cargo planes and then treated in military hospitals. The doctor, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he feared losing his job, said he had personally treated contractors injured in Syria, whose role there was clear from their conversations.

His hospital is officially meant to admit only serving military personnel, their family members or veterans who have served long careers in the military, a category his patients were too young to fit, the doctor said.

When Morozov and Kolganov were killed, their bodies were flown to Russia aboard military aircraft and delivered to a morgue used by the military in the southern city of Rostov, according to relatives and Morozov's friend Kapa. "Kapa", a former Russian officer and volunteer in the Ukraine conflict who asked to be identified only by a nomme de guerre, was friends with Morozov and also knew Kolganov and several other Russians who fought in Ukraine and went on to fight in Syria with the Vagner group. He is still in contact with some of them.

A Reuters reporter saw the Order of Courage which was given posthumously to Kolganov. It was delivered to his family home in Togliatti, a city on the Volga river, by someone in civilian clothes who did not identify himself, according to relatives. Reuters has also seen a photograph of Morozov's Order of Courage, dated Sept. 7, 2016.

Syrian forces recapture area near Damascus
[Iran Press TV] Syrian government forces have killed dozens of foreign-backed gunnies across the country in anti-terror operations, including one that fully liberated an area on the outskirts of the capital Damascus.

Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing an unnamed military source, reported that on Thursday, army units established full control over al-Taqi Mosque and its surrounding area to the north of Khan al-Shih Farms near Damascus, and killed a number of turbans and destroyed their weapons in the process.

The Syrian forces also managed to destroy a command center and a 150-meter long tunnel used by turbans to carry out attacks in Jobar neighborhood on the outskirts of the capital.

Syrian army warplanes also carried out Arclight airstrikes against terrorists’ positions in Khan Touman southwest of Aleppo, killing dozens of them. The government forces also thwarted a myrmidon attack in the vicinity of Minian village to the west of city, destroying two bomb-laden cars and killing several other myrmidons.

The Syrian jets also pounded terrorists’ positions in al-Rastan, Deir Ful, Abu al-Tababaer and Khan al-Surah near the western city of Homs, destroying a number of their vehicles. The Syrian ground troops also foiled a ISIS strike near Unq al-Hawa village, some 73 kilometers east of Homs, killing a number of turbans and inflicting injuries on some others.

Elsewhere in the countryside of the western city of Hama, Syrian army Arclight airstrikes left a large number of gunnies dead and destroyed some of their vehicles. The Syrian soldiers had raided a weapons warehouse used by the gunnies in the southern parts of the city, seizing a large cache of ammunition and poisonous agents.

The army units also destroyed a command center of the Takfiri

New JMB planned big attack for Dhaka
[Dhaka Tribune] New JMB had plans to stage a big terror attack in Dhaka, police learnt from four firearms smugglers tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
by the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit of police in the capital’s Darussalam area on Wednesday.

In preparations for the attack, the New JMB members brought 787 detonators and a 9mm pistol to Dhaka, which were smuggled into the country from India through the border in Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj upazila, the detainees said during their primary interrogation.

They were identified as Md Abu Taher, 37, Mizanur Rahman, 34, Md Selim Miah, 45, and Taufiqul Islam alias Dr Taufiq. All of them are natives of Shibganj upazila and active members of New JMB, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune yesterday, he further said they brought the gun and the detonators in shopping bags.

"These four also supplied the firearms and explosives used in Gulshan attack," he added.

A case was filed against the four with Darussalam cop shoppe under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to the case, the four were part of a group who arrived to Darussalam on a long-distance bus on Wednesday night.

CTTC officials were waiting there following a tip-off and approached the group when they got off the bus. As the group tried to flee, the officials were able to catch the detainees while four or five others managed to escape.

They were produced before a Dhaka court yesterday where Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty placed them on remand for three days.

The arrestees may be shown arrested in the Gulshan attack case as well, sources said.

During interrogation, the New JMB operatives also confessed that they smuggled firearms and explosives via the Bangladesh-India border in Shibganj in preparation for violence on a massive scale in Bangladesh, Masudur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.

Investigators suspect that New JMB’s Chapainawabganj zone leaders Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan and Mizanur Rahman alias Chhoto Mizan alias Tara supervise the smuggling operations.

Interrogators further learnt that Chhoto Mizan collected the weapons and explosives to be used in Gulshan attack and delivered them to Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury and Nurul Islam Marjan, he added.

The material recovered on Wednesday night were collected from Boro Mizan and other New JMB leaders named Rabiul, Jaltu and Laltu, according to the case.

Why Is Hillary Clinton So Widely Loved?
And no, she's serious. Caught via AOSHQ which rips it to shred in short order. "About the Author: Chimamanda Adichie is the author of Americanah and, most recently, We Should All Be Feminists." Surprised?
We do not see, often enough, the people who love Hillary Clinton, who support her because of her qualifications rather than because of her unqualified opponent, who empathize with her. Yet millions of Americans, women and men, love her intelligence, her industriousness, her grit; they feel loyal to her, they will vote with enthusiasm for her.
whether they're alive or dead
Especially dead.
Human beings change as they grow, but a person's history speaks to who she is. There are millions who admire the tapestry of Hillary Clinton's past: the first-ever student commencement speaker at Wellesley speaking boldly about making the impossible possible, the Yale law student interested in the rights of migrant farmworkers, the lawyer working with the Children's Defense Fund, the first lady trying to make health care accessible for all Americans.

There are people who love how cleanly she slices through policy layers, how thoroughly she digests the small print but can't remember anything under oath. They remember that she won two terms to the United States Senate, where she was not only well-regarded but was known to purchase get along with Republicans. They have confidence in her. There are people who rage at the media on her behalf, who see the coverage she too often receives as unfair. There are people who in a quiet, human way wish her well. There are people who, when Hillary Clinton becomes the first woman to be president of the United States, will weep from joy.

Hillary Clinton was guilty immediately when she stepped into the view of the American public as the first lady of Arkansas.
Her predecessor wasn't, but she was.
She was a lawyer full of dreams. She had made sacrifices for the man she loved, waived her plans, and moved to his state. But she also dared to think herself her husband's equal, to assume herself competent enough to take on expanding access to healthcare and reforming the Arkansas public education system. She was guilty of not being a traditional first lady. She offended the old patriarchal order. The conservative media loathed her

She is widely loved because the Obama coalition is still intact.

It consists of:

1. NPR-listening pseudointellectual SJW social anarchists

2. Public employee/welfare recipient thugs who value their magic checks more than the businesses, liberties, and lives of their private sector neighbors

3. Owners of/employees of rent-seeking businesses in industries like the law profession, lobbying, and regulatory compliance that depend on government regulation for demand for their services

4. Owners of/employees of a few large industries like IT, education, entertainment, and banking/finance/investment houses which have bribed Democrats and RINOs for indulgences from the regulatory leviathan.

Add to this a new twist - women who want another woman put into a position of power where she can tell men what to do and then harm or kill them if they don't comply, and enjoy that vicariously.

Believe otherwise at your peril.

Africa Subsaharan
Zimbabwe: Professor Jonathan Moyo Arrested
[All Africa] Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo was yesterday tossed in the clink

for alleged abuse of office and misappropriating over $400 000 Zim-bob-we Manpower Development Fund (Zimdef) funds.
$400K Zim-bucks? That's what, about a dollar-thirty-nine?
He was later released into the custody of his lawyer and is expected to appear in court today.

Zimdef is a parastatal that falls under Prof Moyo's portfolio.

The minister presented himself to the Zim-bob-we Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) head office in Mt Pleasant, Harare, where a warned and cautioned statement was recorded after over five hours of closed-door grilling.

Prof Moyo, his deputy Dr Godfrey Gandawa, Zimdef chief executive Mr Frederick Mandizvidza and Zimdef principal director (finance) Mr Nicholas Mapute are expected to appear in court today.

The minister -- who for long had been denigrating and claiming that ZACC was improperly constituted -- handed himself over to the anti-corruption body yesterday afternoon and was released into the custody of his lawyer Mr Terrence Hussein last night.

Speaking after the meeting with ZACC officers, Advocate Lewis Uriri, instructed by Mr Hussein, said his client was placed under arrest and released into the hands of his lawyer.

"I can confirm that he was invited to assist police and ZACC with investigations. He voluntarily availed himself for that process. He answered questions as put to him and at the end of that process, they immediately decided that they would be arresting, detaining and charging him."

Iraq
The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi Edtion

76 families return to Ninevah

(IraqiNews.com) Mosul – Camps for internally-displaced Iraqis have received 750 internally-displaced people from the city of Mosul, the stage of decisive battles between Iraqi joint forces and the Islamic State extremist militant group, the commander of the security operation said Wednesday.

Lt. Gen. Abdel Amir Yarallah said 76 displaced families from the city have now returned home from Jadaa camp. “Anti-terrorism forces will continue to clear houses and roads off IEDs in Kokajli, preparing for the next battle,” he said in a statement obtained by Alsumaria News.

Since October 17th, Iraqi army and police forces, US-led coalition forces, Shia militias and Kurdish troops have been on a decisive battle, code named “We Are Coming, Nineveh”, to liberate the city of Mosul, IS’s last stronghold in Iraq. UN estimates had put the number of civilians who would be displaced in process at more than one million.

On field, Badr Organization, one of the major Shia paramilitary forces fighting within the grand operation, said Wednesday that four more villages had been liberated at Nineveh province, reporting the killing of two IS fighters, who were boarding booby-trapped vehicles, and defusing 18 IEDs.

The organization’s media wing said in a statement that Badr had freed the villages of Abu Shwaiha, Kokh, Abu Fashka and Khweitla and gave out aid to their families.

“There is slow and cautious progress so as to protect civilians’ lives. Forces are 4 kilometers away from the Mahlabiya road which links Mosul with Tal Afar,” the statement said.

Abdul-Ghani al-Assadi, commander of Iraq’s anti-terrorism forces, said Wednesday that his forces were facing a “guerrilla war” in Mosul. While Assadi urged locals to stay home, he ruled out that Islamic State fighters would use them as human shields.

“Media have circulated the term ‘human shields, but Daesh cannot use that technique, but if they do, we have the methods that could force them to release our people,” he told Alsumaria TV.

Baghdadi calls for attacks on Turkey

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Islamic State’s supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s call upon supporters to launch attacks in Turkey is a cover-up for potential Turkish incursions in the city of Mosul, said Hakim al-Zamili, chairman of the Iraqi parliament’s security and defense committee.

Baghdadi’s call to attack Turkey in an audio message released late Wednesday is “a regional intelligence cover-up for Turks’ entrance to Mosul,” Zamili said in a press interview. “That incursion will be under the pretext of fighting terrorism before it extends to Turkish soil,” he argued.

Iraq and Turkey have been in tensions recently due to the deployment of Turkish troops at Bashiqa Camp, Nineveh. While Turkey says it trains locals to fight against the Islamic State, the government in Baghdad contends that the deployment occurred without its permission, labeling it a violation of international law.

In the voice message, Baghdadi urged his fighters to be resilient in face of Iraqi troops seeking to strip the militant group of its last Iraqi bastion in Mosul, and called upon his supporters to unleash their anger” on Turkish forces fighting them in Syria.

Meanwhile, Atheel al-Nujaifi, a former governor of Nineveh, and the commander of “Nineveh Guards” forces, said that while Baghdadi urges his fighters to stand still and fight back, buses have been carrying ISIS fighters families from Mosul to Syria.

“Baghdadi’s speech yesterday was that of a desperate mad man,” Nujaifi wrote on twitter.

Comrade Commissar Baghdadi urges resilience among ISIS fighters
ISIS propaganda video at the link, all in Arabic
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Islamic State supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has urged his fighters to be resilient in face of Iraqi troops seeking to strip the militant group of its last Iraqi bastion in Mosul.

In an audio clip released by his supporters on the internet, the first since the security offensive began mid October, Baghdadi stressed that the group’s “Caliphate” project has not stumbled.

“Do not retreat … Holding your ground with honor is a thousand times easier than retreating in shame,” he said in the audio message, the authenticity of which could not be verified.

“The raging battle, the all-out war and the grand Jihad the state of Islam is going through today only strengthens our faith and confidence that it is all a prelude to a clear victory.”

Baghdadi urged his supporters to launch attacks against Turkey and Saudi Arabia. He told his militants to “Unleash their anger” on Turkish forces fighting them in Syria. He also called upon them to target Saudi royal family members, government officials and security forces, accusing them of “partaking with infidel nations in their war against Islam and Sunnis in Iraq and Syria.”

Baghdadi’s last voice message was made in December, when he assured his troops that Russian and US-led coalition airstrikes in Syria had failed to weaken the group

Hundred flee ISIS shelling in Kokajli

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Hundreds of families started to flee Kokajli, east of Mosul, towards the borders with Iraqi Kurdistan fearing artillery shelling by Islamic State fighters, Al Sumaria News reported on Thursday.

Al Sumaria quoted the migrating citizens as saying they would return to their homes once Iraqi forces advance to the city and relieve the danger from their area.

Iraqi government forces, assisted by al-Hashd al-Shaabi troops and US-led coalition forces, continue to advance towards Mosul, Islamic State’s last bastion in Iraq. The operations have dealt ISIS fighters severe losses, according to campaign commanders, with the group reportedly carrying its wounded militants and families outside the city while facing food shortages.

ISIS supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi urged his fighters in a voice message on Wednesday to remain resilient in face of the assaulting forces.

The United Nations and the United States had predicted more than one million civilians to be internally displaced due to the war in Mosul.

Commanders of operation “We Are Coming, Nineveh”, had said that 76 families had returned to their homes in Nineveh.

More on Order 227, ISIS Edition from al-Arabiya
ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has called on his fighters to resist as Iraqi forces were poised to enter the city of Mosul. “Do not retreat,” said a voice presented as belonging to the leader of ISIS in an audio message released early Thursday by the ISIS-affiliated Al-Furqan media.

“Holding your ground with honor is a thousand times easier than retreating in shame,” he said in the message, his first in more than a year. “To all the people of Nineveh, especially the fighters, beware of any weakness in facing your enemy,” Baghdadi said, referring to the northern Iraqi province of which Mosul is the capital.

Rumors have abounded about the leader’s health and movements but his whereabouts are unclear. ISIS control has been shrinking steadily since last year and Iraqi forces earlier this week reached Mosul, the militants’ last major stronghold in Iraq.

The US-led coalition estimates there are 3,000 to 5,000 IS fighters inside the city but the final outcome of the battle appears to be in little doubt. Tens of thousands of Iraqi forces, backed by the US-led coalition and its warplanes, launched a massive offensive on Mosul on October 17.

Iraqi militia cut Raqqa-Mosul highway
No switchlines for you, Baghdadi
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Al-Hashed al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) have managed to cut the route between Mosul and the Syrian city of Raqqa, both the main strongholds for the self-proclaimed Islamic State, according to a parliament member.

The Shia militia, fighting IS by the side of Iraqi government forces, managed on Wednesday to cut the road between the two cities as battles intensify to liberate Mosul from IS fighters, said Abdulaziz Hassan, a member of the parliament’s Defense and Security Committee. “That is a significant step,” he said.

The security and defense committee has not detected any violations by al-Hashed al-Shaabi in Mosul operations so far, according to Hassan. The United Nations and observers had warned against violations against the citizens of Mosul after the anticipated liberation of the city.

Commenting on Turkish fears of al-Hashed al-Shaabi’s participation in Mosul’s invasion, Hassan said:” al-Hashed al-Shaabi and Peshmerga forces are not going into Mosul, and the general command of the armed forces had assigned tasks for all forces.” He added that Turkish forces “had entered Iraq without our permission, which is a violation of international law.”

Tensions have soared recently between Turkey and Iraq, with the latter accusing Ankara of deploying its forces in Bashiqa, Nineveh, without permission. Ankara has been training locals in Nineveh to engage in fights against the Islamic State, insisting that it would not leave the battle against IS in Iraq.

Mishan al-Jabbouri, an MP from Salahuddin province, voiced Wednesday to Alsumaria TV his concerns of a possible “encounter” between al-Hashed al-Shaabi and Turkish troops in Bashiqa. He urged al-Hashed forces to settle their disagreements with Turks in Tal Afar.

Rasheed added, “This neighborhood is the first in the western coast of Mosul,” pointing out that, “Security forces are advancing toward the center of the city.”

Al Sumaria News stated, “The detachments of al-Assrah army abruptly disappeared from the alleys of the old city of Mosul, after being deployed in the city a week ago.”

“There are some doubts that Assrah army fled toward the Syrian territories, in anticipation of the fall of Mosul in the grip of joint security forces,” Al Sumaria explained. “The ISIS militants and supporters were considering Assrah army as an invincible power and an evident on the presence of Baghdadi in Mosul,” Al Sumaria revealed.

Earlier this week, ISIS Assrah army hid its military troops to protect it from aerial bombings, while pointed out that a large number of Assrah army’s leaders fled using civil vehicles.

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Badr Organization announced on Thursday liberating three villages located west of the city of Mosul.

The organization said in a press statement, “Security forces managed to liberate the villages of Tel al-Zalat, al-Mossad and al-Sahaji, west of Mosul.”

“The ISIS militants tried to hinder the advance of security forces using mortar cannons and other weapons, along with five suicide bombers riding booby-trapped vehicles,” the statement added.

Iraqi militia unit kills 25 ISIS Bad Guys west of Mosul

[AlManar] Iraqi security source in the western axis of Mosul said Thursday that the Mechanized Fourth Brigade (Badr armed wing) managed to destroy eight vehicles and killed 25 terrorists in battles west of Mosul, referring to the progress made by the Popular Mobilization Forces in the western axis near the Syrian border .

In a statement, the source said that “artillery of mechanized Fourth Brigade – Badr directed severe blows to the ISIL defenses and fortifications on the outskirts of Mahlabiah western Mosul,” in reference to the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ terrorist group.

“Dozens of terrorists were seen escaped as the PMF was advancing,” he added.

“Badr arrived in the outskirts of the Zalat crossroad which connects Syria, Tal Afar and Mosul,” the source said, pointing out that PMF units are moving within well-done plans to avoid any security emergency.

Sandstorm hits Mosul operations

Baghdad- A sandstorm lashed two days ago in Mosul and ISIS militants considered it a divine message to boost their morals and blur the vision of Iraqi forces.

However, the storm faded soon and rain washed away the dust and sand.

Governor of Mosul Ahmed al-Jabouri said, “A sandstorm hit Mosul on Tuesday and caused a blurred vision—ISIS fighters announced through speakers that this storm is sent by God… Then it rained, the dust was washed away, the sky was clear and ISIS became a joke.”

As the Iraqi Army started to advance towards the neighborhoods of Mosul, the Iraqi Ministry of Displacement and Migration revealed that a new migration wave occurred, which raised concerns over unlimited number of besieged civilians fleeing from the city.

In the same context of collective migration, Minister of Displacement and Migration Jassim Mohammed al-Jaf said in a statement on Wednesday that the “ministry has transported more than 3,000 migrants from Nineveh regions to camps.”

“The total of displaced reached 19,528 since the launching of battles to liberate Nineveh… The ministry teams are distributing humanitarian aid and providing basic needs to the camps,” said Jaf.

“The post ISIS phase is the real test for political leaders in Iraq on which choice they want to support, the construction of the state or the reinforcement of the non-state… Liberating Mosul from ISIS should be a turning point to restructure the state and its powers or else the grudge over deterioration of conditions will increase,” MP Noura al-Salemi told Asharq al-Awsat.

Salemi added that liberating Mosul is a golden chance for Iraqi parties to rebuild the state and community on new political and constitutional bases. “Previous faults can’t be overcome via adopting the same policy,” she stated.

Turkey's Erdogan says Germany has become 'haven for terrorists'

[AlAhram] Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday Germany had become a haven for terrorists and would be "judged by history", accusing it of failing to extradite supporters of a U.S.-based cleric Ankara blames for July's failed military coup.

He said Germany had long harboured militants from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has waged a three-decade insurgency for Kurdish autonomy, and far-leftists from the DHKP-C, which has carried out armed attacks in Turkey.

"We don't have any expectations from Germany but you will be judged in history for abetting terrorism ... Germany has become an important haven for terrorists," Erdogan told a ceremony at his palace in the capital Ankara.

"We are concerned that Germany, which has protected the PKK and DHKP-C for years, has become the backyard of the Gulenist terror organisation."

Syrian held in Germany got Islamic State instructions for attack

[Ynet] A Syrian man arrested in Berlin is suspected of belonging to ISIS and having received ISIS instructions from Syria to carry out an attack in Germany, the Federal Prosecutor's Office said on Thursday.

Police said on Wednesday that the man, identified by the prosecutor's office only as 27-year-old Ashraf Al-T, had been living in Germany since last year. He was arrested in an apartment in Berlin's Schoeneberg district.

Syrian convicted in Germany after throwing kids out window

[Ynet] A Syrian asylum-seeker has been convicted of three counts of attempted murder for throwing his children out of the window of a refugee home in Germany. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors say he threw the three children out of a second-floor window of the facility in February as a way to punish his wife because she refused to obey him after the family moved to Germany.

The dpa news agency says the 35-year-old Syrian, identified only as Hassan Z. in line with German privacy laws, was convicted Thursday at the Bonn state court.

The children -- aged 1, 5 and 7 at the time -- survived but the mother says the two oldest are still experiencing health problems from the fall.

Three Germans jailed for joining Islamist militants in Syria

[AlAhram] A German court on Thursday jailed three young German men for up to four and half years for travelling to Syria where they teamed up with Islamist militants.

Fadil Rudolf S., 26, who received the longest prison term, had first travelled to Syria to join the Sunni militia group Junud al-Sham and in 2013 joined fighters of the Islamic State (IS) militants.

"After his first return to Germany, he once again made himself available as a fighter for the IS over several weeks in July 2014," the court in the western city of Duesseldorf said in a statement. "Later in January and in the summer of 2015, he also sought twice to travel to Syria to join the IS."

The other men, 24-year-old Mohamed A. and 26-year-old Mustafa P., were sentenced to two years and nine months for involvement in Junud al-Sham for several months in 2013.

"The confessions of the accused had a mitigating effect on their sentences," the court statement said.

According to figures released in May by German intelligence services, 820 Islamist militants have left Germany for Syria and Iraq. Almost a third have returned and 140 were killed while abroad, while around 420 are still in Syria or Iraq.

Last buses leave Calais ‘Jungle’ with women, children

[IsraelTimes] 291 refugees hoping to reach Britain agree to be rehoused in France rather than be deported. The transfers end a 10-day operation to clear the camp on France’s north coast, where more than 6,000 migrants — mostly Afghans, Sudanese and Eritreans — had been living in miserable conditions.

Yet less than 300 kilometers (180 miles) from Calais, around 2,000 migrants are living in similar conditions on the streets of Paris. Authorities are expected to soon clear the camp under a railway bridge in the French capital’s northeastern Stalingrad district.

Africa North
LNA prepares to defend oil crescent from attack
[Libya Herald] The Libyan National Army is strengthening its forces at the Ras Lanuf, Sidra and Zueitina oil terminals and a number of oilfields in Jufra district according to sources close to the LNA.

The move follows claims, largely from pro-LNA media, that the acting defence minister in Government of National Accord, Al-Mahdi Al-Barghathi, is busy mobilising his own forces to retake the oilfields and terminals. These forces are said to comprise fighters from Misrata, from the pro-Islamist Benghazi Defence Brigades (BDB) (specifically those under Mustafa Al-Sharksi, Ziyad Belam, Ismail Salabi and Muftah Hamza) and those still loyal to Ibrahim Jadhran.

“The LNA are making preparations for this,” the source told the Libya Herald, “but the details are not being announced yet”.

The LNA’s belief that Barghathi is about to make a move follows his arrival three days ago at Jufra airbase between Waddan and Hun, supposedly to make preparations for a counter-offensive.

He is also reported to have said that he intended to move a number of defence ministry operations out of Tripoli to the airbase.

Yesterday, stating that the LNA was closely monitoring the situation, its spokesman Colonel Ahmed Mismari claimed that in any event it already controlled the entire south of the country “from Waw An-Namus down to the Murzuk region and even the Sudanese-Egyptian border”. It would, he insisted, be ready to deal with any emergency in Jufra.

Such claims, however, have been contested by the Misratans who have denied having any plans to mobilise and move against the Jufra fields.

The spokesman of the Third Force, Mohammed Egliwan has said that the road from Jufra to Sebha is secure and in their hands.

Without the Misratans, still heavily preoccupied in Sirte, any chance of military success on the part of Barghathi against the LNA would be highly unlikely. The BDB was forced to retreat in the summer when it attempted an offensive against Benghazi.

Humantarian pause used to attack in Aleppo
Sputnik
[AlManar] Terrorists used the first humanitarian pause, introduced by Moscow and Damascus in Aleppo, to launch attacks. They have shelled the city 64 times, killing 127 and wounding 254 residents during the week, according to the chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate.

“Over the past week, terrorists fired mortars and “hellfires” [improvised cannons] 64 times at western Aleppo. The shelling killed 127 and wounded 254 civilians,” Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi said Thursday. He added that on October 30, shells with toxic agents killed two Syrian servicemen and injured 37 civilians. A group of Russian experts from the radiation, chemical and biological defense units have arrived in Aleppo to take samples in the area where the chemical weapons were used, Rudskoi added.

“Making use of Russian and Syrian Air Forces’ operation moratorium, militant groups commenced active hostilities on October 28 and tried to break through into the eastern part [of Aleppo],” he said.

At the same time, militants in eastern Aleppo attempted to launch their attack in the area of a humanitarian corridor. “All of militants’ attacks were repelled. As a result, the terrorists suffered significant losses, including 21 battle tanks, 10 infantry fighting vehicles, six rocket artillery systems, 14 mortar crews, 80 cars with mounted heavy machineguns, as well as 12 car bombs driven by suicide terrorists”, Rudskoi said.

The US-backed Nour al-Din al-Zenki group in Syria does not intent to leave Aleppo, coming as no surprise to Russia, the Russian General Staff said. “The leadership of the Nour Din al-Zenki terrorist group, which is considered moderate opposition in the West, announced yesterday that troops under its control will not take the opportunity to leave eastern Aleppo and will continue an armed struggle,” Rudskoi said.

The chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate said the announcement by the group whose members beheaded a child last summer “was not a surprise to us.”

Fighting in Aleppo, which is part of the global war on Syria, escalated in the past days after militants in the eastern neighborhoods announced an offensive and fired missiles on the government-held western part of the city.

Russia has already introduced the so-called humanitarian pause in October, to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians and unarmed militants from eastern part of the embattled city via eight designated corridors. During the humanitarian pause, al-Nusra Front terrorist group, recently renamed as Jabhat Fatah al Sham, outlawed in Russia, prevented civilians from fleeing the city, attacking them. As the evacuation failed and the humanitarian pause ended, the Syrian government launched an offensive against the militants.

More from al-Manar
The death toll from the terrorist attacks on neighborhoods in Aleppo city rose to 12 people, in addition to more than 200 others injured, including a photographer from al-Alam TV channel, SANA reporter said.

According to earlier information provided by a source at Aleppo Police Command , 5 people were killed and 46 others were injured as the terrorist organizations launched attacks on the neighborhoods of Halap al-Jadideh, al-Mogambo, al-Masharqeh and al-Furqan, where shells hit the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Rocket shells and explosive bullets were used in the attacks, which were launched by terrorists positioned in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo city and others in the province’s western countryside.

SANA reporter quoted the source as saying that a girl child was among the dead, and that the attacks caused material damage to public and private properties.

A medical source at al-Jamiaa (University) Hospital told the reporter that the hospital received a person suffering suffocation due to an attack on Menian, to the west of Aleppo city, in which the terrorists used poisonous gases.

Meanwhile, Mohammd Joulaq, a photographer formal-Alam TV channel, sustained slight injuries while covering the military operations carried out by the army against terrorist groups on the southwestern outskirts of Aleppo city.

Rebel moving to capture towns in northern Aleppo

[Asharq al-Aswat] Beirut – Syrian opposition fighters, who are part of Euphrates Shield operations, are trying to regain control over several towns and villages in Aleppo’s northern countryside.

Reports revealed that ISIS regained their power of attack through controlling Akhtarin town.

Free Syrian Army’s Sultan Murad Division reported that during their battle with ISIS in Aleppo countryside, 14 militants were killed and two captivated.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that ISIS advanced in Aleppo and gained control back of 17 villages including Salwa, Ghor, Thalthana, Masodia, Baraan, and Baroza in Aleppo’s northern and northeastern country sides, making further inroads into the town of Akhtarin, three weeks after initially retreating from the city, where it reported that clashes were ongoing.

A militant told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that military operations now are aimed at liberating the villages that ISIS has control over, adding that Baraan, Thalthana and Tanuza were liberated.

Salih al-Zein, field commander at the armed opposition, told ARA News that rebel fighters, participating in Turkey’s Euphrates Shield Operation, have recently taken control over a number of towns and villages in Aleppo’s countryside.

In the past 24 hours, ISIS managed to recapture ten towns in Aleppo’s northern countryside in its largest attack since the beginning of Euphrates Shield in August.

Turkey announced that its forces targeted eighty ISIS locations as part of Euphrates Shield operation.

Leader at Sham Legion Abedlilah Tlas said that ISIS militants took advantage of the rainy weather and infiltrated into Akhtarin in Aleppo’s northern countryside. He added that Free Syrian Army (FSA) managed to kill a number of them while others fled the town following fierce clashes.

Informed sources at the Syrian Democratic Force (SDF), mainly formed of Kurds, reported that ISIS terrorists attacked four axes and were able to gain control over al-Rami field as well as three hills surrounding it.

Sources reported heavy clashes near the infantry academy during which ISIS militants tried to gain control over it.

India-Pakistan
FO reveals details of eight Indian 'undercover agents'
[DAWN] The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday said eight Indian 'diplomats' in Pakistain ─ allegedly members of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW
... India's Research and Analysis Wing, Pakistain's equivalent of the Boogie Man...
) and Indian Intelligence Bureau (IB) ─ are suspected of involvement in terrorist and subversive activities.

FO Spokesman Nafees Zakaria during a weekly press briefing in Islamabad said, "As you are aware, a number of Indian diplomats and staff belonging to Indian intelligence agencies RAW and IB have been found involved in coordinating terrorist and subversive activities in Pakistain under the garb of diplomatic assignments."

Zakaria provided details of the activities of the 'undercover agents', alleging that the suspected RAW and IB operatives handled Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) factions, fueled secatarianism in Pakistain and created unrest in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, Sindh, and Gilgit-Balistan (GB).

The FO claimed that Indian High Commission official Surjeet Singh who was declared persona non-grata a few days ago was also an IB operative working under Balbir Singh.

"Surjeet was using a fake identity as Abdul Hafeez pretending to be a telecom company Warid’s employee," the FO alleged.

"We are disappointed that India has not only been found involved in promoting terrorist activities and terror financing as was disclosed by Kulbhushan Yadhav, and further confirmed by the statements at the highest political level on Aug 15 and earlier during a visit to Dhaka... India has also been using its diplomatic mission for its nefarious designs," the FO said.
