...Remembering being at Langley AFB in the 80s and an AGI would park itself off Virginia Beach every summer. We were briefed to watch what we said on the radio and phone, and otherwise press on. The locals would sail out (not too close) and some of the more adventurous ladies would go topless while waving the biggest flags they could carry.

Hey, we won't judge the people out there with scalp fetishes. But we're hoping the blindfold comes wrapped in plastic, because putting a grease-soaked mask on your face can't be good for those sebaceous filaments you've been trying to beat.

[ABC] Russian lawmakers have been reacting with outrage to the resignation of President Donald Trump’s national security adviser Michael Flynn, calling it the result of American paranoia towards Moscow and a campaign by Trump’s opponents to damage relations between Russia and the United States.
Flynn resigned on Monday after it emerged that he misled White House officials about his discussions with Russia’s ambassador to Washington ahead of Trump’s inauguration.
In his resignation letter, Flynn said he had "inadvertently" briefed Vice President Mike Pence and others with "incomplete information" on calls with the Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak. Flynn came under fire for discussing U.S. sanctions on Russia with the ambassador back in December.
The Kremlin has confirmed the calls but denied the sanctions were mentioned.

Police in Malaysia told Reuters that an unidentified North Korean man had died en route to hospital from Kuala Lumpur airport on Monday.

[GP] The Daily Mail is reporting that the Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach said on Monday that 6,000 people registered to vote in the State of New Hampshire using out-of-state IDs.
This is very significant because the race in New Hampshire was decided by a 1,017-vote margin. While registering to vote in another state is not a crime actually voting in another state is a crime. While officials are still looking into the situation in New Hampshire it is worth noting that voters would not register to vote somewhere if they didn’t intend to vote.

Good chance a lot of the voter registrations using out-of-state IDs were people who were indeed NH residents, but who had 'neglected' to get NH IDs, perhaps to save money replacing an unexpired DL, perhaps to avoid changing insurance rates, or having to re-take a test, or just because it is a big inconvenience to navigate the DL bureaucracy. It does show the whole voter integrity system is vulnerable to fraud though.

Deacon, in Louisiana we have some of the most expensive car insurance around, and you can't get your LA DL without it. As a result you will find that almost anyone who can stay licensed elsewhere does so (and only regrets it when they get in a wreck and the insurance company refuses to pay...) If some election came along they felt strongly enough about, they might go 'home' so they could vote. I don't know how MA costs compare with NH, but there are lots of people who move back and forth between the two states; many may have picked this election to vote - and vote in NH.

[WAPO] The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said. "Vulnerable to Russian Blackmail...?" Not at all creative.
The message, delivered by Sally Q. Yates and a senior career national security official to the White House counsel, was prompted by concerns that Flynn, when asked about his calls and texts with the Russian diplomat, had told Vice President-elect Mike Pence and others that he had not discussed the Obama administration sanctions on Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, the officials said. It is unclear what the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, did with the information.
Flynn resigned Monday night in the wake of revelations about his contacts with the Russian ambassador.
In the waning days of the Obama administration, James R. Clapper Jr., who was the director of national intelligence, and John Brennan, the CIA director at the time, shared Yates’s concerns and concurred with her recommendation to inform the Trump White House. They feared that "Flynn had put himself in a compromising position" and thought that Pence had a right to know that he had been misled, according to one of the officials, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.
A senior Trump administration official said before Flynn’s resignation that the White House was aware of the matter, adding that "we’ve been working on this for weeks." Emphasis added.

When the frontier out West was vast and untamed it made sense to bring people here from the Old Country who were like us or at least shared many of the same values that we have. They were Christians and descended from Western Civilization. There may have been minor problems with assimilation but at least they didn't want to kill us or subvert us to their alien religion. Now our country is settled. There are no more vast open spaces where millions of new immigrants can have free land to start their own family farms. Times change and those who don't change with it suffer.

I saw that yesterday there was the suggestion of using fire pumpers as an auxiliary to the spillway. I hope somebody in the circle at least thought of that. Some considerations:
Lake water is dirty and will chew up the equipment. Even if a siphon is set up, that is hundreds of feet of hose, plus filters on the lake end, have to watch the pressures. Tommy Lee Jones could pull it off, but so far I am not seeing the logistics planning to pull it off; replace hoses, food and water for the workers, gasoline for pumps, so forth. Stockpiling should have begun a couple weeks ago.

The dam and other issues though are on him. While Southern California took the draught seriously and built cisterns to capture rain so it could be used later Northern California did nothing, not even invest in maintaining the infrastructure they already had.
So many fools invested in the drought caused by global warming they forgot that California has El Nino (tons of rain) and La Nina (drought) all the time. Preparing for a very regularly reoccurring event is not rocket science.

If put up for a re-vote, I'd hope the voters would see how they were lied to and revolt. That's the effort now, hence they are spending money as fast as possible to build facts on the ground even though it goes from nowhere to nowhere in the Central Valley. *SPIT*

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Large numbers of corpses of Islamic State militants arrived Monday to a strategic group bastion in western Mosul following fierce battles, al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) has said.
The corpses were brought to the central hospital at the town of Tal Afar, a strategic Islamic State stronghold largely besieged by PMUs since November, the force’s media service quoted its intelligence body as saying.
The bodies are believed to belong to fighters who engaged in ferocious fighting with PMUs on Sunday. Al-Hashd said it had killed 20 militants and destroyed 17 of their vehicles during the encounters.
Al-Hashd’s media service quoted sources in the town as saying that IS fighters were forcing residents to donate blood to their wounded comrades.
PMUs, a conglomerate of Shia volunteer militias, have been actively fighting Islamic State militants on the Iraqi government’s side since the group emerged in 2014 to proclaim an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq.
Iraqi government forces, backed by PMUs and a U.S.-led international military coalition, have been fighting Islamic State since mid October to retake the city of Mosul, the group’s largest bastion in Iraq which fell in its grip in 2014. Nineveh (Islamic State) Eighty corpses of Islamic State militants packed the central hospital in western Mosul’s town of Tal Afar after intense clashes with pro-government militias, a local source in Nineveh said Monday.
The dead bodies included those of senior foreign leaders who died in clashes Sunday with al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units), the source told Alsumaria News.
“Forensic authorities at Tal Afar hospital in Nineveh received today 80 dead bodies belonging to Daesh (IS) members of Arab and foreign nationalities, most notably a French national in charge of recruiting suicide bombers, and another commander of attackers battalion nicknamed Abu Omar al-Shami,” said the source.
The group put the corpses into refrigerators and labelled them with number tags, according to the source, who added that dead local fighters were handed over to their families, while others were buried in special cemeteries.
The group is still withholding the bodies of foreign fighters and bars any Iraqi medical worker from approaching them, the source said.
Al-Hashd media service said Monday the forces had killed 50 IS fighters out of 200 who attacked PMUs in a bid to open an escaping channel to Syria. It was the first time IS fighters were seen using tanks in their attacks, the media service added.

Major Motaz Ahmed said in a press statement, “The Islamic State militants launched an attack on security forces stationed in Albu Seif village, south of Mosul.”
“The security forces managed to repel the attack, as well as killing 13 members of the Islamic State, including Arab and foreign leaders,” Ahmed added.
Earlier today, Federal Police forces repulsed another attack launched by the Islamic State on the entrance of Hamam al-Alil, and killed a number of the attackers.

"If my personal protection should prove insufficient for your needs, I will engage the resources of the Haas School to provide additional security." I don't suppose either was made available to Milo? In an interview, Morgan said he issued the invitation because he was disheartened to see Adams declare he was withdrawing "all support" from his alma mater in the wake of the protests. "The money hath flown!"
Two days after Yiannapoulos’ scheduled appearance, Adams took to his blog to announce that he, too, doesn’t feel "safe or welcome on campus" because of his political views. For that reason, he said, he would no longer support the public institution where he earned his MBA.

I can just imagine the rigorous acedemic studies a lot of these Berkeley students and their professors are involved in. Stuff like "Trans-Gender Non-Agressive Basket Weaving", "History for Losers101", Snmowflake Orentation in Non-Resentative Government", "History, a Creative Writing Prosess of Opression by Non-Indigenous Cultures", "Shakespeare and the Supression of Druidic-Celtic-Pagan-Shamanistic Oral Traditions", "Elegantarianism Amognst the Noble Savage Female Hunterless-Gatherers Societies". All course title requiring at least one or two hypenated subjects and gender neutral or "woman" biased titles.

[ARA] Kurdish female fighters of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) on Monday clashed with Turkish Army forces near the town of Amude, in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah Governorate.
The festivities followed an attempt by the Turkish military troops to enter the Kurdish territory in northeastern Syria, where The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... continues to build a concrete wall alongside the borderline.
"The Turkish Army on Monday entered the border village of Kharza, located about 10 kilometre west of Amude town. However, some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go... a YPJ unit opened fire on the Turkish convoy to prevent its progress," a YPJ officer told ARA News.
"Clashes broke out in the vicinity of Kharza village, where our forces used heavy machine guns to push the Turkish troops back," the Kurdish officer said.
At least two Kurdish female fighters were maimed in the festivities.
It was not immediately clear whether the festivities resulted in any casualties among the Turkish troops.
"After three hours of sporadic festivities, the Turkish Army was forced to withdraw. They retreated towards the Turkish side of the border," the YPJ officer told ARA News.
Kurdish officials condemned Turkey’s attempts to build border walls near Rojava’s cantons‐Kobani, Efrin and Hasakah province.
Last week, the Turkish Army shelled the Kurdish district of Afrin in northwestern Aleppo, targeting the villages of Maranaaz, Vilat al-Qadi and Sheikh Issa after entering the Syrian territory.

[DAWN] Three Pakistain Army soldiers were killed in Indian firing across the Line of Control (LoC), said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday evening.
The incident occurred in the Thoob sector of Bhimber district.
ISPR identified the slain soldiers as Naik Ghulam Rasool, Naik Imran zafar and Sepoy Imam Buksh.
The ISPR statement added that Indian forces also suffered casualties in the latest incident of cross-border skirmishing.

A military court in northern Somalia town of Bosaso has on Monday sentenced seven suspected al-Shabab Islamist militants to death.
Abdifatah Haji Aden, the Chairman of Puntland’s military court, said, the militants are proved to have been part of a high profile assassination against Puntland officials. Aden earlier accused the militants of having carried out coordinated assassinations against Puntland officials.
“After all the court proceeding including hearings and the presentation of evidences the court sentences these seven men to death,” Aden said. “They can take an appeal within 30 days otherwise the sentence will be carried out.”
At the court, before the sentence were announced, some of the defendants shouted “We are innocent!”
The defendants’ lawyers said, “The sentence was unfair and no credible evidences were brought before the court.”

[IsraelTimes] Ahmad Asa’ad Shahada, 23, becomes 24th Qassam Brigades man accidentally killed since last year.
A member of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",’s military wing was killed Monday morning when a tunnel he was digging in collapsed, the Gazoo-based terror group said.
Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, said in a statement posted on its official website that Ahmad Asa’ad Shahada, 22, from Khan Yunis, "met his lord as a martyr, God willing, after a tunnel of the resistance collapsed."
Gazook health ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra confirmed Shahada’s death in a statement posted on Twitter.
Last year, 22 members of Hamas’s armed wing were killed while "preparing equipment," the majority in a string of tunnel collapses, the terror group said last month.
Shahada’s is the second such accidental death in 2017. Earlier this month, Hamas said high-ranking field commander Muhammad Hemada Walid al-Quqa, 37, died in an kaboom while he was "preparing equipment" in the field.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A senior Taliban leader was killed with his fighters during an Arclight airstrike in southeastern Paktika ...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo... province of Afghanistan.
According to the local government officials, the Arclight airstrike was carried out on Saturday in Barmal district by the foreign forces.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the senior Taliban leader was the shadow district chief of Barmal and was killed together with his four fighters.
The statement further added that the Taliban leader has been identified as Pach who was also famous as Faryadi.
According to the provincial government office, Pacha was targeted with the other gunnies in Mangarti area.

[An Nahar] Twenty rebels and government troops were killed overnight in festivities as warring parties pushed north along Yemen's western coast, medical and government sources said Monday.
The renewed festivities in the coastal towns of Midi and Mokha, north and south of the major Red Sea port of Hodeida respectively, erupted the day after government forces seized control of the area.
"The corpse count this morning stands at 14 Houthis and six troops" loyal to President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, a military source confirmed on condition of anonymity.
Hospital sources in Hodeida confirmed at least eight dead.
Forces loyal to Yemen's president, backed by a Saudi-led Arab coalition, entered the historic port town of Mokha last month as part of a push to drive Shiite Huthis out of the area.
Government forces had taken the docks of Mokha earlier in February and are now aiming to take the main port of Hodeida, which is still under the control of Houthis.
Prior to the government-backed military offensive, the Huthis had controlled nearly all of Yemen's 450 kilometre (280 mile) Red Sea coastline.
More than 400 combatants have been killed in the fight for coastal control.

[An Nahar] Young men from AMAL Movement staged a protest outside al-Jadeed TV's building in Beirut on Monday evening after the TV network was accused of "insulting" AMAL founder Imam Moussa al-Sadr.

"Our forces have liberated 98 villages in an area measuring approximately 700 square kilometers in Eastern Raqqa. The progress comes as part of the Third Phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation launched nine days ago," SDF spokeswoman Cihan Ehmed said.
At least 124 ISIS forces of Evil were killed and dozens more maimed in the recent festivities, according to military sources.
"Our specialized teams have also dismantled 1256 landmines in the liberated areas," Cihan said.
The SDF has also seized a large deal of ammunition and weapons from ISIS during the campaign for Eastern Raqqa.
During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, which began on November 6, 2016, the SDF liberated roughly 560 km² in Northern Raqqa.
On 10 December, the SDF launched the second phase of the Euphrates Wrath, during which it captured over 2500 km² in Western Raqqa. The polyethnic alliance also confirmed that they had cleared 196 villages and dozens of farms.
On 4 February, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced the launch of the third phase of Euphrates Wrath Operation in Eastern Raqqa.
The campaign is ultimately aimed at isolating the ISIS radical group in its de facto capital.

"Syrian government troops, backed by Russian air support, continue to advance in the direction of Palmyra; less than 20 kilometers are left. The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out more than 90 sorties over the last week," the ministry said.
The Syrian Army has destroyed more than 180 myrmidon targets.
"The Syrian government troops destroyed over 180 myrmidon targets, including over 60 strongholds, 15 depots with ammunition and vehicles, 43 armored vehicles as well as jeeps with heavy machine-guns. Terrorists lost over 200 people," the statement added.
Some 805 square kilometers have been liberated from gunnies in the province of Homs. Since February 7, the Syrian Army has been controlling 22 square kilometers in the vicinity of Palmyra, and has liberated a few inhabited localities, the ministry concluded.
ISIS seized Palmyra, which was the capital of the Palmyrene Empire and one of the richest cities of the Roman Empire, in May 2015. Police said that assistant cameraman Taimur received a bullet shot to the head during the attack.
"He was brought to the hospital with a single shot to the head and he died after a while," additional police surgeon, Rohina Hasan told the media.
The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) has grabbed credit for the attack.
TTP spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani said in a statement, "The media is not impartial and we've issued several warnings to them."
A front man for the channel said that the van had gone to the area to cover a cracker attack on a police van. A senior police official, Farooq Malik said that the same suspects appeared to be involved in the attack on the DSNG van who had earlier also carried out attacks on DSNG vans of other channels in the same area.
He said initial investigations indicated that the cracker attack on the police van was a ploy to get the media to the area to cover the incident and then attack them.
A DSNG van of the Samaa channel had also come under attack in September 2015, while another was attacked last year.
In other attacks on television channel crew in Karachi, three gunnies had attacked a Geo TV DSNG, killing a Geo News employee and injuring another in 2015, while in 2014 three employees of the Express News channel were rubbed out in an attack claimed by the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain.

[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Iraqi forces have thwarted an attempt by around 200 ’jihadist’ fighters to flee their bastion of Tal Afar towards Syria, west of the city of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , a security front man said Monday.
Forces from the Hashed al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization), a paramilitary organization, said the ISIS group used tanks in their bid to break out of Tal Afar.
"The attack by the ISIS terrorist gangs started at around 7:00 pm (1600 GMT on Sunday), the fighting lasted around six hours," their front man Ahmed al-Assadi told AFP.
Hashed forces have been deployed in desert areas west of Mosul since federal forces launched a massive operation to retake the city from IS on October 17.
Their main goals are to retake Tal Afar, a Turkmen-majority city which is still held by ISIS, and to prevent the jihadists from being able to move men and equipment between Mosul and their strongholds in Syria.
"This was an attempt by ISIS to open a breach, flee to the Syria border and exfiltrate some leaders and fighters," Assadi said.
He said that Hashed forces received support from army aviation helicopters when ISIS attacked them. He added that the fighting left around 50 ISIS members killed and 17 of their vehicles destroyed.
Assadi did not provide a casualty figure for the Hashed al-Shaabi following the attack, which took place around 20 kilometers (12 miles) southwest of Tal Afar.
ISIS ’jihadists’ are confined to a corridor between Tal Afar and Mosul by tens of thousands of forces deployed on several fronts.

[WASHINGTONTIMES] President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau didn’t see eye to eye on immigration and refugees, but the two leaders still pledged Monday to work together to keep their countries safe from terrorism.
At a joint presser at the White House, Mr. Trump said that the U.S. faces immense national security threats and vowed to pursue his "extreme vetting" program.
Mr. Trump defended his temporary halt on visitors form seven Moslem-majority countries, saying that "we cannot let the wrong people in and I wont."
"It’s much more than toughness. It’s a stance of common sense," the president said of the program, which has been blocked by federal courts.
He made the remarks standing beside Mr. Trudeau, a liberal superstar on the international stage and a critic of Mr. Trump’s policies. In response to Mr. Trump’s vetting program, he previously had pledged to welcome all refugees to Canada.
But he wouldn’t criticize Mr. Trump while at the White House.
“The last thing Canadians expect is for me to come down and lecture another country on how they should govern themselves,” Mr. Trudeau said.
He stressed that Canada and the U.S. remain the closest of allies and have a long history of fighting side by side against common enemies in the world.

Sources in the White House are saying that National Security Advisor Michael Flynn has apologized to Vice President Mike Pence in connection with Flynn’s conversations with the Russian ambassador in December. Pence is reported to have accepted Flynn’s apology, which was not made public.
Fox News cites a "West Wing source" for its reporting on the apology. The source also denies rumors Gen. Flynn will be fired from his position at the NSA. According to the source, Flynn is still part of President Trump’s "inner circle."
CNN reported in January that Gen. Flynn, who had been criticized for his ties to Russia in the past, had been in text and telephone contact with Sergei Kislyak, the Russian ambassador, while Barack Obama was still president. The two men had a phone call on Dec. 29, the same day that President Obama ordered additional sanctions on Russia and expelled 35 Russian diplomats in connection with Russia’s interference in the election. At the time, Trump transition officials denied that Flynn had discussed sanctions with the Russians.
Pence had defended Flynn in an interview with Chris Wallace on Jan. 15. "I talked to Gen. Flynn yesterday," Pence said. "The conversations that took place at that time were not in any way related to new US sanctions against Russia or the expulsion of diplomats."
Flynn’s story unraveled because the FBI intercepted his communications with Kislyak as part of routine surveillance of Russian diplomats. Analysis of the intercepted communications showed that Flynn actually did discuss the sanctions in spite of what he had told the vice president and the media.
Flynn’s public position has gone from one of adamant denial that sanctions were discussed to one of uncertainty. Through a spokesman, Flynn told the Washington Post, that "while he had no recollection of discussing sanctions, he couldn’t be certain that the topic never came up."
The revelation that Flynn lied to the vice president cuts to the core of the National Security Advisor’s integrity and credibility. Also troubling for Flynn, Gregg Miller of the Washington Post pointed out on NPR that the contacts with the Russians may have been illegal under a 1799 law that prohibits unauthorized negotiations with foreign governments.
It is extremely unlikely that the Trump Administration would prosecute Gen. Flynn for his contacts with the Russians, which were possibly authorized by the president himself. It is far more likely that Flynn will either be fired or kept on a short leash for the near future.
President Trump has remained uncharacteristically quiet on the subject, both on Twitter and though his surrogates. "It’s not for me to tell you what’s in the president’s mind," Trump advisor Steven Miller said on "Meet the Press," when asked about Flynn. President Trump "did not give me anything to say."

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A top Taliban leader who was involved in the brutal execution of a girl has surrendered to the Afghan cops in western Ghor province of Afghanistan.
According to a local official in Ghor, the senior Taliban leader, Mawlavi Sa’adyar, was involved in insurgency activities in Feroz Koh area of Ghor.
The official speaking on the condition of anonymity further added that Sa’adyar was involved in the brutal execution of a girl Rukhshana who was stoned to death late in 2015.
He said Sa’adyar surrendered to the Afghan forces after he was admitted to the hospital for the treatment of appendices.
Provincial police chief Mustafa Mohseni confirmed the surrender of Mawlavi Sa’ad but has not commented further.
However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... the provincial hospital officials in Ghor have said Sa’adyar is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The anti-government armed bad boy groups including the Taliban bully boyz have not commented regarding the report so far.
Rukhshana was stoned to death in Ghor late in 2015 based on a Fatwa issued by Mawlavi Sa’ad.
According to the reports, the 19-year-old Rukhshana was awarded a death sentence after she and her family refused a marriage proposal from the Taliban leader.

[Dhaka Tribune] Two young boys in Bandarban have been shot during a shootout between the army and unknown miscreants, police have said. One of the attackers have been killed.
The boys, Mangpren Mro, 8, and Di Nung Mro, 7, were maimed when the fight broke out after 4pm Monday in Naikkhangmukh, a locality in Ruposhipara union in Lama, said Lama cop shoppe officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune.
As of 7:30pm, Mangpren was being taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Di Nung to Lama Upazila Health Complex, he said.
According to Anwar, 15-20 unidentified miscreants opened fire on a patrol team of Ruposhipara army camp around 4pm as it was passing Naikkhangmukh. The team fired back, resulting in a two-hour-long shootout.
Soldiers have surrounded the area. A team from Lama sub-zone went to the spot at 6pm.
At 9pm, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Assistant Director Rezaul Karim told the Dhaka Tribune an army patrol team was ambushed at Naikkhangmukh.
He said one of the assailants had been killed in the shootout while the rest had fled with all the weapons. Raids were underway in the area to find the perpetrators, he added.
"The identity of the assailants could not be confirmed, but the dead man was wearing an olive-green unmarked uniform," Rezaul said.
"We are suspecting they were members of [Parbatya Chattagram] Jana Samhati Shamiti (PCJSS).
"Two civilians were also shot by the attackers. We have taken them to Chittagong for treatment," he added.

The military said Baghdadi moved last week in a convoy from Raqqa, in Syria, to the region of al-Qaim, on the Iraqi side of the border, to discuss with commanders "the collapse happening in djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... and to chose a successor for him".
Baghdadi, an Iraqi whose real name is Ibrahim al-Samarrai, has been reported maimed several times in the past. His last known public message goes back to November, when he called on Islamic State fighters to defend Mosul, their last major urban stronghold in Iraq.

[Standard Digital (Kenya)] A Kenyan was the suicide bomber behind a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) that killed dozens of KDF personnel in an attack in Kulbiyow, Somalia.
Investigations by both Kenya Defence Forces and other agencies show Anwar Yogan Mwok died in one of the VBIED that exploded at the camp on January 27.
He and fellow Kenyans Ramadhan Kungwa and Erick Achayo Ogada had joined Al-Shabaab and were wanted by police for their involvement in terror activities. A Sh2 million bounty had been placed on their heads.
On Monday, police revealed that other two Kenyans are still at large within Somalia. “Mwok was in one of the lead Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device VBIED that targeted the KDF camp.
He was killed by the heavy artillery fired by the KDF and died instantly,” said an official aware of the probe.
Kungwa and Achayo who were among the Al Shabaab infantry suffered serious injuries and reliable sources have indicated that their Kenyan associates and family members are trying to sneak them into the country for medical care.
Mwok was born in Siaya County in 1981. He was born and raised a Christian but later converted to Islam. When he was younger, his family moved to Nairobi. He was a player for the Mathare United Soccer Club prior to his conversion into Islam and recruitment into violent extremism. He lived in Umoja Estate with his family until 2013 when he left for Somalia to join Al-Shabaab.
Once in Somalia, he joined Jaysh Ayman, a group of largely Kenyan Al-Shabaab fighters who plan and execute attacks against innocent Kenyans within the country.
Mwok owns a significant amount of properties within Umoja area in Nairobi, proceeds from which police have indicated has been financing terror activities targeting Kenya.
A source from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) confided Mwok has been influential in calling upon and facilitating Kenyan youths to join him in Al-Shabaab.

[SPEISA] Some non-assimilated students have openly said that they hate white people, they hate Jews, they want Sweden to have Sharia law. I have met students who had a lengthy discussion about their vision for a world "where all the whites have been killed" and that therefore "racism does not exist anymore."
Unlike the academic left-liberal middle class, I talk to these students. I respect them, regardless of their views or values. They are people whether they advocate Sharia laws or claim to want to execute anyone who is like me. Opinions are respected but countered politely and objectively. As an individual, I work to try to give them a good life, as a citizen, I see civil war's cruel mechanisms creeping ever closer to my school everyday. Wars are fought not by a monster, but by ordinary people with ordinary prejudices, who happen to be on the opposite side in a conflict.
That the grades have plummeted as a result of the lack of assimilation should hardly come as a surprise. Filed under "Europe," but I know what y'all are thinking...

People who call me racist and hateful because I don't trust moslems don't understand. I don't want to kill them. That's the whole point. It's safer for them as well as us if we keep ourselves apart from each other. That way there will be no war or at least if there is they will have to invade militarily and we'll have a better chance of keeping the casualties at a minimum. If we end up having to fight them after allowing their numbers to increase in our own countries the odds of them winning increase. I don't want a holocaust. I'm trying to prevent a holocaust.

Yusra Khogali has faced increased scrutiny over the past year after BLM Toronto gained political influence following their disruption of the Toronto Pride parade and confrontations with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.
On Friday, Toronto Police announced they would not participate in this year’s upcoming parade. This has been a longstanding demand of BLM TO and one that the board of Pride Toronto recently backed in a controversial vote.
Khogali has a track record of inflammatory, divisive rhetoric.
Only last week during a protest in front of the US consulate Khogali shouted into a microphone that “Justin Trudeau is a white supremacist terrorist” and urged the crowd to “rise up and fight back.”
“Look at us, we have the numbers,” she said.
She also faced controversy in the news for a tweet posted a year ago stating: “Plz Allah give me strength to not cuss/kill these men and white folks out here today.”
While these remarks alarmed many Canadians, they pale in comparison to a statement numerous sources forwarded to the Sun that Khogali appears to have posted on Facebook in late 2015.
“Whiteness is not humxness,” the statement begins. “infact, white skin is sub-humxn.” The post goes on to present a genetics-based argument centred on melanin and enzyme.
“White ppl are recessive genetic defects. this is factual,” the post reads towards the end. “white ppl need white supremacy as a mechanism to protect their survival as a people because all they can do is produce themselves. black ppl simply through their dominant genes can literally wipe out the white race if we had the power to.”
Khogali did not respond to requests for comment from the Sun.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Three army troopers were wounded Monday when a bomb blast hit their patrol an area west of Baghdad, police sources have said.
“The explosive device was implanted on the side of a countryside road in Abu Gharib west of Baghdad targeting an army patrol. It caused various wounds to three patrol members,” said the source to Alsumaria News.
Violence surged in Iraq with the emergence of Islamic State militants who took over large areas of the country in 2014. Baghdad has been witnessing almost daily bombings targeting civilians and security personnel.
Nobody has claimed responsibility yet for the bombing, but IS militants have said they had been responsible for several bloody explosions and attacks that hit the capital in the past months, bringing the governorate municipal and security officials under critics’ fire.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said violence in the country left nearly 382 dead, including security members, and 908 injured during January. Baghdad was the most affected province with 128 deaths and 444 injuries, according to the organization.
Observers believe Islamic State have begun to escalate attacks outside the city of Mosul, where the group has been losing ground and personnel since October, so as to relieve pressure by government forces on that front and to divert attention from group losses.
While losing Mosul could be the severest blow to the group’s existence in Iraq, some observers argue that attacks outside the province prove that the extremist group can still pose a security threat for all cities.

Moreover, the ingress into Afghanistan was predictable: IS had early on shown a historical interest in Afghanistan, while large-scale military operations in Fata with poor border management and coordination between Afghanistan and Pakistain made it almost inevitable that the TTP would try and relocate to Afghanistan.
If the bully boy linkages are by now well known, what Gen Nicholson’s comments have perhaps unwittingly helped shed light on is the role of Afghanistan and the US in allowing a once manageable problem to grow quickly. By their inaction, despite Pakistain’s urgent appeals in recent years, Afghan and US forces inadvertently allowed the TTP to morph into IS. True, US drones have killed two of three supreme TTP leaders, and Afghan forces have launched the occasional raid on TTP sanctuaries in eastern Afghanistan. But far more evident has been the reluctance to prioritise the fight against TTP/IS. Indeed, Pak officials have publicly and privately voiced their concern that elements within the TTP based in Afghanistan are regarded by Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... as a potentially useful way to bleed Pakistain to either punish or incentivise it to take on Afghan faceless myrmidons based in Pakistain. That mindless game hurts everyone, Afghanistan, Pakistain and the US, leaving the TTP to morph and expand. The TTP-IS bully boy nexus in Afghanistan needs to be urgently dismantled.

[Dhaka Tribune] Police have locked away Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! four members of banned Lion of Islam organization Allah er Dal on Monday night, one of whom is a government employee.
The public servant was housing the other Lion of Islams, including the head of the organization, in Thakurgaon-Panchagarh region.
Police raided a house at Shahpara in Thakurgaon on information from detective sources around 10pm on Monday and arrested the alleged murderous Moslems who have been living in the house for the past couple of years.
They seized a number of religious and anti-government publications from the house.
Farhat Ahmed, police super of Thakurgaon, told news hounds at a briefing in his office that Fakrul Islam Babu, 31, one of the arrested murderous Moslems and the main tenant of the raided house, is a government employee.
He also added that Fakrul hails from Pabna and is son of Md Abdul Motalib and Firoza Khatun. He was housing the three other arrested murderous Moslems in his house. The police super however did not reveal any further information on Fakrul.
Police sources said the house belongs to Motahar Hossain who is an official at Krishi Bank in Thakurgaon municipality.
According to the police super, another arrestee Khandaker Mojibul Islam Miron, 32, heads some active 200 members of Allah er Dal in the districts of Thakurgaon and Panchagarh.
Miron hails from Kushtia, and is the son of Khandaker Abdul Halim and Monowara Begum.
The other two arrestees are Md Rabbani Haque Fazlu, 24, and Md Arif Hossain, 22. Both of them are locals of Thakurgaon.

[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Paleostinian resistance movement Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, elected a member of its armed wing as its new Gazoo head Monday, Hamas officials said.
"Yahya Sinwar was elected to head the Hamas political office in the Gazoo Strip", the officials said.
He will succeed Ismail Haniya, who is seen by many observers as the most likely successor to Hamas’s current exiled leader Khaled Meshaal.
In September 2015, Sinwar was added to the US terrorism blacklist alongside two other members of Hamas’s military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades.
A graduate in Arabic language, he was born in the Khan Younis refugee camp in southern Gazoo and founded "Majd," one of Hamas’s intelligence services.
Arrested by Israeli occupation authorities in 1988 for "terrorist activity," Sinwar was sentenced to four life sentences before being released in October 2011 under an agreement to exchange more than 1,000 Paleostinian prisoners for the release of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier captured five years earlier.
Hamas has been conducting internal elections for several months.
Yahya Sinwar, 55, considered one of Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",’s most ruthless leaders, generally avoids the limelight, but is seen as an unpredictable hardliner who inspires the loyalty of Hamas’s military wing’s leadership. He was sentenced to life in 1989 for murdering Paleostinian collaborators with Israel.
The election of Sinwar as Hamas’s Gazoo leader signals the ascendance of the terror group’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, which now holds more sway in the Strip than the politicianship.
He is considered hawkish even within Hamas, and opposes any compromise in its policies regarding the Paleostinian Authority and Israel. "He represents the most radical and extreme line of Hamas," he told news hounds. "Sinwar believes in armed resistance. He doesn’t believe in any sort of cooperation with Israel."
Born into a family of fighters, which was an integral part of the military wing, Sanwar is considered to be ascetic, strong, tough and the possessor of extreme discipline.
During Operation Protective Edge, the new leader’s brother, Mohammad Sanwar--who was the architect of the Shalit deal--had his home attacked by the IDF.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed at the time that, with the cooperation with the Shin Bet, the homes of two senior Hamas activists had been attacked after they were being used as a command and control center of the organization, among them, the home of Mohammad Sanwar who was responsible for forces in Khan Yunis.
As far as Sanwar’s new deputy is concerned, Khalil al-Haya has also earned a reputation for being among the more radical elements of Hamas and was a member of the negotiating team in the Shalit negotiations.

[DeutscheWelle] Police on Monday night stormed an apartment block in the German city of Chemnitz in what was potentially a response to a terrorism alert. At least one person was arrested.
Police confirmed the raid late on Monday after local media had reported that anti-terrorism forces had entered a housing building, accompanied by explosives sniffer dogs. The officers were reportedly wearing gas masks and carrying machine guns.
Authorities declined to provide further information, other than confirming the reports. They said they would announce further details on Tuesday.
However, the German "DPA" news agency, citing security officials, reported that a number of apartments were raided in the block.
According to security officials, police forces raided a number of Chemnitz apartments on Monday.
[Ynet] A Belgian man was sentenced to 28 years in jail on Monday for killing a prisoner while fighting with jihadist groups in Syria, the first murder conviction of a returned fighter in Belgium.
Hakim Elouassaki, 24, returned to Belgium in 2013 after being wounded in the conflict, a few months after police had intercepted a phone call in which he bragged to his girlfried about executing a prisoner.
The prisoner's family was supposed to pay 70,000 euros ($74,494) in ransom money but only came up with 30,000.
"A bullet through the head, bang, hahaha," Elouassaki, from Vilvoorde near Brussels, was heard telling his girlfriend by phone, according to court documents. Elouassaki had also sought to film his act, but the camera was badly placed.
Before going to Syria, Elouassaki was part of Sharia4Belgium, a group which recruited young Belgians to fight alongside groups such as Islamic State in the Middle East. The group's leader and several of its members were handed long prison sentences in 2015.

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.-com) Islamic State militants in Salahuddin province have become in extreme alert after a senior military commander disappeared along with four companions.
A local source in the province told Alsumaria News that the extremist group had put its members on alert in Mutaibija, a region on the borders with Diyala, after the “military emir” and four of his companions disappeared. They were touring some group rest houses before vanishing, according to the source.
Mutaibija is one restive region on the borders between Diyala and Salahuddin which security sources have counted as a constant threat, but the source said IS had lost many of its leaders in that region in ambushes by security forces and allied al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units).
Since the Iraqi government launched a U.S.-backed offensive in mid October to retake Mosul from Islamic State, the extremist group has sustained severe losses in personnel and ground. It has also bee stricken with divisions and infighting, with reports of attempted dissent and executions of delinquent fighters growing.
Recent reports have said that the idea of dishonoring the pledge of allegiance to the group’s supreme leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, have become on the table as Baghdadi’s whereabouts or survival proved to be questionable.
Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants in Kirkuk are telling people they have to choose between fighting security forces alongside the group or to leave after paying tolls, a local security source said.
The group deployed members of its Hisbah (vigilantism) service with megaphones in the group-held town of Hawija, southwest of the province, to announce the new rules, the source told Alsumaria News on Monday.
“The group is obliging whoever wants to leave to pay US$1500 per person or an equivalent amount in gold,” according to the source.
IS have been in control over the southern Kirkuk regions of Hawija, al-Zab and al-Riyadh since 2014, when the group emerged to proclaim the establishment of a so-called “Islamic Caliphate” at various Iraqi cities.
IS’s hardline, bloody governance, coupled with minimal subsistence and ongoing battles between the group and Iraqi government forces, have forced hundreds of thousands to flee regions occupied by the group to refugee camps, with the numbers of refugees standing at at least 191.000, according to a latest count by the government.
IS has sustained consecutive losses of personnel and ground since Iraqi government forces, backed by a U.S.-led coalition launched a major offensive to retake Mosul, the group’s biggest stronghold in Iraq.
The group’s media surprisingly distributed warnings saying red colors were not allowed, even for children, a local source told Alsumaria News.
The source presumed the move aimed to prevent Iraqis from marking the occasion, adding that the group fears that the least sign of celebration would stand as a challenge to its rules.
A hardline preacher from the group tore the head of a red teddy bear to assert his prohibition of the celebrations. Teddy bears and flowers are typical presents exchanged between loving couples on the occasion.
Islamic State came to the scene in Iraq in 2014 when it defeated Iraqi government forces at several cities and proclaimed a so-called “Islamic State”. Since then, it had imposed extreme religious views, and levied harsh punishments amounting to death on violators.
The group is currently holding most of western Mosul as it totally lost the eastern side to Iraqi forces on January 24th after three months of battles. It is now boosting its defenses in that region in anticipation of an imminent invasion by security troops.
The conflict in Mosul has so far displaced at least 191.000 people,.
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) An Iraqi army force arrested on Monday two Islamic State members who used to trade women slaves from the Yezidi minority, a local source said.
“Intelligence teams from the army’s 16th division arrested Heggie Farhan and Mahmoud al-Kassab,” the source told Alghad Press, adding that the pair belonged to the Tel Kaif and Qawsiyat regions in northeastern Mosul. The latter had been wounded at one battle with security forces and lost one of his legs.
“They had used to sell Yezidi women during the group’s control over Nineveh Plains region,” said the source.
Thousands of Yazidi Kurds fled Sanjar, a Mosul region on the borders with Syria, to nearby mountain areas following its fall to Islamic State militants in August 2014. The extremist group massacred, enslaved and tortured thousands of that ethno-religious minority.
Data in 2015 from Iraq’s office on Yazidi kidnapping victims showed that 2640 Yazidis were released from captivity by Islamic State militants over the past two years, but there are 3770 others still in the extremist group’s hold.
The Kurdish-speaking community came to the spotlight when Islamic State militants, taking over large parts of Iraq, victimized its members, committing massacres and subjecting them to forced conversions, sexual slavery and other reported atrocities.
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants threw to death the son of the group’s most famous bladesmith, hours after executing his father, according to a local source.
“Daesh(Islamic State) executed the only son of the group’s most famous bladesmith, the so-called Abu Hamza al-Souri (Syrian),” the source told Alsumaria News.
The young man was thrown down from the rooftop of a high building in western Mosul, according to the source. The reason of his execution is still unknown, but a recent report by Alsumaria News had said IS adopted a similar execution style with men accused of homosexuality, a charge the network said was posed haphazardly.
The source revealed that al-Souri was sentenced to death on Sunday, slaughtered with a sword of his own making. The group accused him of “betraying the caliphate”, as he put it.
Since the Iraqi government launched a U.S.-backed offensive in mid October to retake Mosul from Islamic State, the extremist group has sustained severe losses in personnel and ground. It has also been ravaged with divisions and infighting, with reports of attempted dissent and executions of delinquent fighters growing. Some of its leaders were also mysteriously assassinated.
IS is still in control over most of western Mosul, and is bracing for a fresh round of encounters as security forces prepare to invade that region.
Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A source in the Joint Operations Command revealed on Monday, that the Islamic State group shelled five schools, north of Mosul, either killing or wounding 28 students and teachers.
Colonel Waad al-Sharifi said in a press statement, “The Islamic State group shelled al-Zohour, al-Wehda, Tatwan, Mohamed al-Dorra and al-Naaniya schools with mortar shells, killing three students and a teacher, as well as wounding 18 students and 6 other teachers.”
The Islamic State group is attacking the liberated areas from its held areas in western Mosul, killing and wounding dozens of civilians since the liberation of eastern Mosul.

[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah in 2017 is nothing like the group that fought against Israel in 2006. It is an army in every way. It operates artillery forces and UAVs, gathers combat (and non-combat) intelligence, and cooperates with other armies, including apparently the Russian Air Force in Aleppo, Syria.
Led by firebrand ...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments... holy man Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah has extraordinary military capabilities by any measure. According to Israel, the group has more than 100,000 rockets in its arsenal, together with strategic weapons such as anti-ship missiles, with reserves of elite commando troops and impressive anti-aircraft capabilities.
But Hezbollah’s challenges have also shifted sharply from 11 years ago.
First, Israel is not its top priority at the moment, as shown by what seems to be reduced motivation to engage in terror attacks against Israel over the short term. Hezbollah is spread out over two countries -- Syria and Leb -- and is engaged in combat on almost every battlefield in Syria.
Hezbollah, which allocated at least one-third of its combat force to Syria, has lost more than 1,700 of its people in the fighting there, according to some estimates. For comparison’s sake, the number of casualties that it suffered during the Second Leb War is estimated at 650 to 700. Approximately 6,000 of its people were maimed in Syria.
The war effort is also putting a strain on Hezbollah’s coffers, as it tries to keep up its social welfare programs and provide for the families of those killed and maimed on top of everything else.
So Hezbollah is doing what any other army would do -- tightening its belt, according to Israeli officials, who monitor the terror group’s movements closely.
Hezbollah is consolidating various Death Eater units and trying to decrease the enormous operational expenditures resulting from the fighting in Syria, and at times tries to do something that Israeli army officials will recognize: reduce service conditions.
That’s not to say Hezbollah is neglecting preparedness for another war with Israel, even as it refuses to draw down in Syria.
Hezbollah troops are positioned around Aleppo in northern Syria, as well as on the Syrian Golan Heights in the south, just across the Israeli border. Recent victories by the Syrian army have led to a relative calm from rebel groups, and its main rival, the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... , is on its heels thanks to the US-led coalition’s bombing campaign.
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Last week, 50 ACLU affiliates filed Freedom of Information Act requests with Customs and Border Protection field offices inquiring how the new policy was being enforced at airports.
Declaring war, ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero boasted in a blog post that "if we carpet-bomb the Trump administration with lawsuits, we can rob it of momentum and gum up the machinery of its anti-civil liberties and anti-civil rights agenda."
He also cheered the ongoing, zany left wing protests, some of which have been accompanied by violent vandalism, saying, "The protests across the country -- in the streets and at airports and courthouses -- have been truly exhilarating."
Exhilarating? Maybe for the mobs who are trying to shut down freedom of speech for anyone but themselves. Because they live in a bubble reinforced by the liberal media, the ACLU’s brain trust apparently doesn’t realize or care that it’s out of step with most Americans, who polls show support the temporary travel restrictions and want secure borders.
Declaring war, ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero boasted in a blog post that "if we carpet-bomb the Trump administration with lawsuits, we can rob it of momentum and gum up the machinery of its anti-civil liberties and anti-civil rights agenda."
ACLU Legal Director David Cole on Jan. 28 castigated the president for clearly identifying America’s enemies:
"In signing the executive order on Friday, Trump pledged to ’keep radical Islamic Lions of Islam out of the United States of America.’ Not ’terrorists.’ Not ’radical terrorists.’ But only ’radical Islamic terrorists.’ Of course we should be keeping Lions of Islam out, but why limit our concern to those of one faith?"
Maybe because "radical Islamic terrorists," unlike Catholics, Methodists, Mormons, Hindus or Buddhists, are committing terrorist acts every day around the world and have specifically pledged to wipe the United States and Israel off the map? Honestly, do you know any Presbyterians or Zen practitioners who are turning their sweet young children into jacket wallahs?
"Radical Islamic terrorists" killed 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001. And they blew up the Boston Marathon with pressure cooker bombs hidden in knapsacks in April 2013, killing three people and leaving 264 others without limbs or with other serious injuries. They have committed mass murder at Fort Hood, Texas, San Bernardino, Calif. and Orlando, Florida, and beheaded a woman in Oklahoma, among other atrocities.
"Radical Islamic terrorists" of ISIS have tortured, raped and crucified countless Christians and Yazidis and burned down churches, as have "radical Islamic terrorists" in many countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. They also target Moslems who disagree with their brand of Islam, strapping suicide bombs to hapless women and kiddies, some of them mentally impaired and unable to resist.

Even in the face of at least 1,200 sexual assaults, including dozens of rapes, by young, male migrant gangs during the 2015-2016 New Year’s Eve celebrations in Cologne ...a lovely city in Germany. They invented perfume there... and other German cities, she stuck to her guns, oblivious to the outcries. Now that she’s running for re-election, she says she’s shocked, shocked that migrants colonists are causing problems in Germany.
In La Belle France, the terrorized city of Gay Paree is spending $22 million on a barrier around the Eiffel Tower. It is hoped the new structure will be sound enough to withstand mobs of rampaging Quakers, Baptists or American tourists from Long Island. "Sadly, the risk of terrorism hasn’t gone away," Deputy Mayor Jean-Franois Martins told a presser. "It’s not a wall, it’s an aesthetic perimeter." Whatever.
In the lawsuit to end the "ban" on travelers from the seven countries where Lions of Islam flourish, the ACLU attorneys warned, "Rarely in American history has governmental intent to discriminate against a particular faith and its adherents been so plain."
Well, they might want to research Thomas Jefferson about that. He acquired a Koran specifically for insight into how he could defeat the Moslem pirates of the Barbary Coast of North Africa who were laying waste to American shipping and enslaving our sailors.
Adding to their litany of efforts to leave America less secure, the ACLU just issued a report that says the Transportation Security Administration shouldn’t train its agents to look for suspicious behavior in airports. "Behavior detection" doesn’t work, the ACLU says, because lots of people at airports look nervous or shifty.
Perhaps they’re on to something, because who would know better than they about the nuances of shiftiness?

[NYT] WASHINGTON -- Michael T. Flynn, the national security adviser, resigned on Monday night after it was revealed that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence and other top White House officials about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the United States.
Mr. Flynn, who served in the job for less than a month, said he had given "incomplete information" to about a telephone call he had with the ambassador in late December about American sanctions against Russia, weeks before Mr. Trump’s inauguration. Mr. Flynn previously had denied that he had any substantive conversations with Ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak, and Mr. Pence repeated that claim in television as recently as earlier this month.
But on Monday, a former administration official said the Justice Department last month warned the White House that Mr. Flynn had not been fully forthright about his conversations with the ambassador. As a result, the Justice Department feared that Mr. Flynn could be vulnerable to blackmail by Moscow.
In his resignation letter, which the White House emailed to reporters, Mr. Flynn said he had held numerous calls with foreign officials during the transition. "Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador," he wrote. "I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology."
The White House said in the statement that it was replacing Mr. Flynn with retired Lt. General Joseph Keith Kellogg, Jr., a Vietnam War veteran, as acting national security adviser.
That's fast. Could it be that President Trump has a deep bench?
Mr. Flynn was an early and ardent supporter of Mr. Trump’s candidacy, and in his resignation he sought to the praise the president. "In just three weeks," Mr. Flynn said, the new president "has reoriented American foreign policy in fundamental ways to restore America’s leadership position in the world."
But in doing so, he inadvertently illustrated the brevity of his tumultuous run at the National Security Council, and the chaos that has gripped the White House in the first weeks of the Trump administration -- and created a sense of uncertainty around the world.
Officials said Mr. Pence has told others in the White House that he believes Mr. Flynn lied to him by saying he had not discussed the topic of sanctions on a call with the Russian ambassador in late December. Even the mere discussion of policy -- and the apparent attempt to assuage the concerns of an American adversary before Mr. Trump took office -- represents a remarkable breach of protocol.

The liberals did not fire this guy. The President fired him...much like he moved Christie out of his inner circle. Selfish ambition and a stunning lack of integrity by former Obama supporters is not condoned by DJT. Ride for the brand or get fired.
However, I am curious that the fact that a leak of TS material is quickly brushed under the carpet. I would expect that a ruthless investigation is conducted, search warrants for reporters computers...and a timely prosecution. The intel services are out of control.

[USNEWS] A jacket wallah struck police escorting a protest rally in the eastern Pak city of Lahore on Monday, killing at least 13 people and wounding nearly 60 in an attack claimed by a breakaway Taliban faction.
The blast destroyed the crowd of hundreds of pharmacists, who were protesting new amendments to a law governing drug sales. Six coppers, including a former provincial counterterrorism chief, were among those killed, police said.
Police initially said the attacker was on a cycle of violence, but provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah later said that closed-circuit footage revealed the bomber was on foot.
Sameer Ahmad, the Lahore deputy commissioner, said at least 13 people were killed and 58 maimed, including nine who were at death's door.
Live TV registered a loud bang and showed smoke and fire billowing up as people bravely ran away, some of them carrying the maimed.
"We just couldn't understand what happened," Tufail Nabi told local Geo News TV. "It was as if some big building collapsed," he said as he limped away.
A group called Jamaat-ul-Ahrar claimed the attack in a text message, saying it was Dire Revenge for Pak military operations against Islamic holy warriors in tribal regions along the Afghan border.
The group, which claimed a number of large attacks last year, is one of several splinter factions from the Pak Taliban, which has repeatedly targeted security forces and religious minorities. In recent years, Pakistain has launched several offensives against the Taliban and other Islamic holy warriors in the tribal regions.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An ISIS hard boy who attacked a famous nightclub at the heart of Istanbul has reportedly asked to be given a death sentence in his testimony.
Uzbek-origin Abdulkadir Masharipov, who killed 39 people and maimed 65 others, said that "it would be good if he was given capital punishment," daily Sabah reported on Feb. 13.
During his testimony, Masharipov said he was a member of ISIS but had not participated in any attacks by the hard boy organization before the Reina attack.
"I wanted to stage the attack on Christians in order to exact Dire Revenge on them for their acts committed all over the world. My aim was to kill Christians. Abu Cihad, who is in Syria, told me to carry out the attack in Taksim, saying ’Christians are gathering in Taksim,’" Masharipov said, adding that he could not stage the attack in Taksim due to strict security measures.
"There were coppers everywhere. I changed my mind. I called Abu Cihad and told him that I can’t carry out the attack there. Then I went to scope out Reina. Abu Cihad sent me the address and photos of Reina. I constantly texted him. I didn’t see him face-to-face. I went in front of Reina and there were no coppers or security," he said.
Noting that he wanted to kill himself after staging the attack, Masharipov said he was planning to do so in order not to "fall hostage."
"When I was out of bullets, I threw two stun grenades. I put the third one near my face to commit suicide, but I didn’t die. I survived, but I entered Reina to die," he said, adding that he did not regret his actions.
"I took vengeance," he said.
At least 39 people, including a police officer, were killed when Masharipov opened fire on New Year’s revelers in the nightclub in the Ortaköy neighborhood at about 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Masharipov was captured in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul late on Jan. 16. He was tossed in the slammer Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! on Feb. 11.
Meanwhile, ...back at the palazzo, Count Guido stepped from behind the suit of armor, rapier in hand. Ciccolini snarled and reached for his own weapon... it has emerged that Masharipov recorded a "farewell video" before staging the attack. In the video recorded on Dec. 27, 2016, the ISIS hard boy is seen saying he will stage a suicide kaboom, daily Haberturk reported on Feb. 12.
According to the footage, Masharipov advises his son to become a jacket wallah like himself. The authorities are attempting to determine whether the video was recorded by the ISIS hard boy’s wife, Zarina Nurullayeva.

[FOXNEWS] Beginning in 1998, some three years before the formation of the TSA, the suspects allegedly smuggled suitcases containing up to 15 kilograms of cocaine through the TSA security system at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, prosecutors said. As many as five "mules," or human smugglers, were used on each flight, with each checking in up to two suitcases, according to authorities.
During the 18-year conspiracy, the suspects sent 20 tons of cocaine into the U.S., according to prosecutors.
The development comes on the back of a House Homeland Security report last week that found gross irregularities in employee screening at major airports.
"After nearly two years of oversight efforts, the Subcommittee found that a majority of airports do not have full employee screening at secure access points," the report stated. "These airports are unable to demonstrate the security effectiveness of their existing employee screening efforts, which consist largely of randomized screening by TSA officers or airport law enforcement personnel."
The defendants include six current and former TSA employees at the airport: José Cruz-López, Luis Vázquez-Acevedo, Keila Carrasquillo, Carlos Rafael Adorno-Hiraldo, Antonio Vargas-Saavedra and Daniel Cruz-Echevarría. All were security and baggage screeners for checked and carry-on luggage that was to be placed on outbound flights.
The suspects allegedly worked with co-defendants including Edwin Francisco Castro, Luis Vázquez-Acevedo and Ferdinand López, who were described as controllers between the drug trafficking organizations and the TSA employees. Defendant Miguel Ángel Pérez-Rodríguez, who worked for the airport security company, was identified as the cocaine supplier.
The ring also included a baggage handler with Airport Aviation Services, Javier Ortiz, who allegedly picked up the cocaine-packed suitcases at the airline check-in counter and put them into the X-Ray machines monitored by the TSA suspects, who cleared them. After the suitcases had been cleared, Ortiz allegedly took them to their designated flights, making sure no police or K-9 units intervened.
Ortiz also paid the TSA employees for their roles, prosecutors said. They did not say how much.
Other suspects included an alleged mule and another person who prosecutors said helped load luggage onto planes.
"This investigation was initiated by TSA as part of its efforts to address employee misconduct and specific insider threat vulnerabilities. TSA has zero tolerance for employees engaged in criminal activity to facilitate contraband smuggling," said José Baquero, federal security director for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Prosecutors in Georgia have charged a high-ranking priest with conspiracy to murder after he was found to have attempted to fly out to visit the country’s religious leader with cyanide in his baggage. Deacon Giorgi Mamaladze was detained at Tbilisi airport on 10 February, Georgia’s prosecutor general, Irakli Shotadze, told journalists on Monday.
Shotadze said Mamaladze, director of the property department of the Georgian Orthodox Church, had been on his way to Germany to meet with the ageing Georgian Orthodox patriarch, Ilia II, who is recuperating from gall-bladder surgery in Berlin. Police also reportedly found firearms at the priest’s home.
The alleged scandal has shaken the small, deeply religious country, which claims to have been the second nation to adopt Christianity in the fourth century.
“We avoided a huge disaster. A crime against our country, a perfidious attack on our church, has been prevented,” the Georgian prime minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, said on Monday, Interfax news agency reported.
Kvirikashvili said he had sent the head of his personal security and a group of agents to Germany to protect the patriarch, who in the past has offered to baptise any infant born to parents of more than two children, sparking a baby boom.
The 84-year-old patriarch has recently suffered from poor health, and was supported by a bodyguard when Pope Francis visited him in Tbilisi in September.
Shotadze did not name the highly placed church official he alleged Mamaladze had been plotting to kill. But his statement came after Rustavi 2 television reported on Sunday night that there may have been an attempt to poison Ilia II.
Shotadze said the investigation had started after an acquaintance claimed that Mamaladze had asked him for cyanide in exchange for money and other “illegal benefits”.
Archbishop Andria, speaking to Rustavi 2 about the arrest, said “any such action by a priest is unbelievable”. Archpriest Shio Paichadze said he did not believe the accusations, recalling that Mamaladze had had a close relationship with the patriarch.
Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, a prominent voice in the Russian Orthodox Church, told the National News Service on Monday he believed there was a “political subtext” to the apparent attempt on Ilia II’s life, which he said could be an attempt to pressure the influential Georgian Orthodox Church.
If convicted, Mamaladze, who is also head of the St Anne and Joachim medical centre, could face up to 15 years in prison.
