Syria strike brings rare criticism for Trump from France's Le Pen
h/t Gates of Vienna
U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to order a missile strike on Syria brought rare criticism on Friday from French far-right leader Marine Le Pen, who has until now viewed the American leader as an ideological soulmate.

..."I am a little surprised because Trump had said repeatedly that he didn't intend the United States to be the world's policeman any longer and that is exactly what he did yesterday," Le Pen told France 2 television.

..."Is it too much to ask to wait for the results of an independent international investigation (into Tuesday's attack) before carrying out this kind of strike?" Le Pen asked.

She said she didn't want a repeat of events in Iraq and Libya where she said Western intervention had "brought chaos and ended up strengthening ... terrorist organizations."

No, we cannot wait five to ten years for the conclusion of UN investigation, if any, with the end result being a sternly worded letter, or nothing.

Gene pool closed for cleaning: Man dies trying to eat doughnut in shop's eating challenge
[Telegraph] A man trying to eat a half-pound glazed doughnut in 80 seconds as part of a Denver doughnut shop's eating challenge choked to death, one of two people who died in such contests this past weekend.

Travis Malouff, 42, died early on Sunday of asphyxia due to obstruction of the airway, a coroner said. He had been participating in a contest to eat a doughnut the "size of a small cake," witness Julia Edelstein said on Tuesday.

Winners get the doughnut for free and a button saying they won the challenge, which Voodoo Doughnuts said it was suspending, according to statement given to Denver news station KUSA-TV.

UK Foreign Sec. Boris Johnson calls off Moscow visit over Syria
[BBC] The foreign secretary has called off a visit to Moscow in the wake of the Syrian chemical weapons attack.

Boris Johnson, who was set to travel on Monday, said the situation had changed "fundamentally" and his priority was to continue contact with the US to provide international support for a ceasefire.
'Changed Fundamentally'... indicating Russian complicity in WMD usage ?
He said the UK called on Russia to do everything possible to bring about a "political settlement in Syria".

"We deplore Russia's continued defence of the Assad regime," he added.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will visit Moscow as planned after the G7 meeting on 10-11 April.

Mr Johnson said he was working to bring together other "like-minded partners" to "explore next steps soon".

Trump's Syria Strike Is Latest Sign of Steve Bannon's Waning Influence
Dung Beetle warning. [New York] Donald Trump’s surprise decision to launch missile strikes against Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s forces in response to Tuesday’s horrific chemical attack represented a reversal from Trump’s noninterventionist campaign message. It’s also the most recent sign of the declining power of his chief strategist Stephen Bannon. Two sources close to Bannon told me the former Breitbart executive chairman argued against the strike -- not because of its questionable constitutionality, but on the grounds that it doesn’t advance Trump’s America First doctrine. "Steve doesn’t think we belong there," one Bannon ally told me. Bannon’s position lost out to those inside the White House, including Jared Kushner, who argued Trump needed to punish the Assad regime.

The debate over Syria is the latest fault line that has opened up in the once close Bannon-Kushner relationship. "During the campaign and transition, they had an almost uncle-nephew thing going," one Bannon associate said. But in recent weeks, Kushner and Bannon have clashed over the direction of Trump’s agenda. While the press has covered it as a personality feud, Bannon allies say the rift is about policy differences. "The press is calling it fighting, we call it debating," Bannon told an associate, according to a source. On a board in his West Wing office, Bannon keeps a list of promises Trump made to populist voters. Kushner, whose portfolio has ballooned in recent weeks, seems much less interested in keeping those promises.

The power struggle is growing more personal. While Bannon declined to comment for this piece, Bannon allies inside and outside the White House say he is "disappointed" and blames Kushner, in part, for some of the damaging leaks about him. If before there were philosophical differences in the White House, now there are clearly defined camps: On one side are "the nationalists" Bannon, Stephen Miller, and Julia Hahn; and on the other are "the Democrats" Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and Gary Cohn. Bannon is growing increasingly frustrated with Cohn, sources say, and is particularly unhappy to be receiving much of the blame for the health-care debacle while Cohn, who was deeply involved in the effort, emerged unscathed. Health care was "100 percent Gary," one person close to Bannon said. During a recent White House meeting, when the subject of Cohn came up, Bannon reportedly told associates "I love a gunfight."

Despite his waning influence, Bannon recently told an ally that he won’t quit. If Trump wants him out, he’ll have to fire him.

The IRS took millions from innocent people because of how they managed their bank accounts, inspector general finds
h/t Instapundit
The Internal Revenue Service has seized millions of dollars in cash from individuals and businesses that obtained the money legally, according to a new Treasury Department inspector general's report.

The report covers IRS cash seizures against businesses and individuals suspected of deliberately trying to avoid federal reporting requirements for large bank deposits.

#3  Intentionally splitting up large sums of cash into sub-$10,000 amounts to avoid that reporting requirement is known as “structuring” and is illegal under the federal Bank Secrecy Act.

But many business owners engaged in perfectly legal activities may be unaware of the law. ...
While structuring is technically a crime, it's something of a secondary one. The reporting requirements were enacted to detect serious criminal activity, such as drug dealing and terrorism.

THIS PART OF THE LAW IS JUST PLAIN B.S. Congress should repeal it. $10,000 is worth very little after the money printing spree of the Federal Reserve these last 10 years.
Banks tend to look suspiciously at any deposit over $5000 or so, I have found.

#4  More from the article:
It is unclear whether structuring forfeiture cases make up a small or large percentage of all IRS forfeitures, because the IRS does not publish that information and denied requests filed under the Freedom of Information Act to make it public.
Couldn't Congress easily mandate reports be published within 12 hours of forfeiture and make it a FELONY for any IRS employee to process a forfeiture without such notice.

#8  "Structuring" as a criminal charge is little more than making criminal what one thinks rather than what one does. If I *legally* make $15,000 on Monday, and decide to deposit $7,000 on Tuesday and then decide to deposit the other $8,000 on Wednesday, why should that be declared a criminal offense?

#9  The problem is that there are huge amounts of high denomination currency out there and only a small percentage is actually in circulation. No one really knows what has happened to the rest, but the presumption is that it is used for illegal activities.

There are probably, a few people who get caught unwittingly structuring, but I doubt it's many.

#10  I went into a local bank where I have an account and tried to turn $3000 cash into a bank check to a business I'm associated with, so I could mail the check to its bank (no local branch). "No problem," said the associate. Twenty minutes later he returned, saying the government regs would not allow it. I had to mingle the funds with my personal checking account and write a check, which is exactly what I didn't want to do - it looks a bit shady.

NYT - Bombing Syrian Airfields actually Hillary Clinton's Idea
[NYT 6 April 2017 via Reuters] In her first interview since her stunning presidential election defeat by Republican rival Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton on Thursday called for the United States to bomb Syrian air fields.

Clinton, in an interview at the Women in the World Summit in New York, also called Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election a theft more damaging than Watergate.

Asked whether she now believes that failing to take a tougher stand against Syria was her worst foreign policy mistake as secretary of state under President Barack Obama, Clinton said she favored more aggressive action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"I think we should have been more willing to confront Assad," Clinton said in the interview, conducted by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof.

"I really believe we should have and still should take out his air fields and prevent him from being able to use them to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them."

Clinton noted that she had advocated for a no-fly zone in Syria after leaving government, something that Obama opposed.

Britain
UK's GCHQ and 'Contact Chaining' - Was Judge Napolitano on to something ?
[UK Independend 20 Nov 2013] Tony Blair’s government gave America permission to store and analyse the email, mobile phone and internet records of potentially millions of innocent Britons. At the same time US security officials drew up plans to spy on British citizens unilaterally, without the knowledge of the UK government.

The revelations have emerged in leaked documents obtained by the National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Moving down a bit, key paragraphs follow:

It shows the NSA was still barred from making any UK citizen a target of surveillance that would look at the content of their communications without getting a warrant.

However, they were “authorised to unmask UK contact identifiers resulting from incidental collection”, “utilise the UK contact identifiers in Sigint development contact chaining analysis” and “retain unminimised UK contact identifiers incidentally collected under this authority within content and metadata stores”.

#7  Abu, concur, it makes no sense. I think the abyssal reason it occurs, senselessly, is that neither feds nor think tanks nor academics nor lawyers have seen and developed a strategic counter-narrative to Salafi or Shi'a Jihad. They have gone kinetic on Jihadis. But they leave untouched Jihad itself.

I think there is such a counter-narrative: essentially, scrape away Asharite Islam (since 18th Century, called Salafi Jihad) and poison its root to reveal the Mutazilite Islam substrate that is civil and productive. The counter-narrative for that is what in classical philosophy and theology is called Reason, which is also a common meeting ground of Christianity, Hinduism and Mutazilite Islam. India is part of this business as much as Five Eyes and Russia are.

California Prepares To Enact The Highest Gas Tax In The Country
[Daily Caller] The California Senate Democrats has approved a multi-billion-dollar increase in the state’s gas tax to pay for road and infrastructure projects.

The so-called Road Repair and Accountability Act would ratchet up the state’s gas tax by 12 cents a gallon, and raise the tax on diesel fuel by 20 cents a gallon. It also etches out an additional charge to annual vehicle license fees ranging from $25 to $175 depending on the car’s value.

The Senate passed the bill, 27-11 on Thursday. Republicans did not support the measure.

Gov. Jerry Brown, a Democrat, supports the measure and says it will raise $52 billion for transportation projects, including repairs to roads and bridges. He told reporters Tuesday the increase will save California taxpayers money in the long run.

After it passes, other general fund dollars are diverted from transportation projects so the actual net expenditure level on transportation remains the same. My favorite dodge is the "borrowing" from the transportation budget for urgent general fund needs. And note that every penny goes to union contractors after often dubious bidding, and priority goes to LA and SF area projects. As for accountability, try and google the last civil servant prosecuted for malfeasance or graft about transportation issues! Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US air strike in Syria
[DAWN] SYRIA, in the throes of a destructive civil war since 2011, may be on the precipice of even greater peril. In the early hours of Friday, American Tomahawk missiles rained down on an air base in Homs province, killing at least six individuals. While the US has been targeting hard-line turbans in Syria for some time -- without the permission of the regime in Damascus -- this is being touted as the first direct American military action taking aim at the Syrian state. Although the B.O. regime had long supported the ’moderate’ rebels battling Bashir al-Assad’s government, Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s predecessor resisted targeting the regime in Damascus through direct military action. Now, under the constantly evolving Trump doctrine, the Assad administration appears to be fair game. The trigger for the American assault was the chemical attack earlier this week in Idlib, which Washington and its allies blamed on Damascus.

The reactions to the missile attack have been in line with current geopolitical divisions. America’s allies have hailed the military intervention. These include the European states, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, many Arab countries as well as Israel. On the other hand, Russia, Mr Assad’s key military backer, has come down hard on the US for launching the strike. Iran, another major supporter of the Damascus government, has also condemned the US military action.

The Idlib chemical attack, in which over 50 people are believed to have perished, was an abominable crime, as indeed are all attacks which involve such ghastly weapons. It is also true that Mr Assad’s forces have employed brutal methods in crushing dissent, while the rebels -- moderate or otherwise -- have replied in similarly brutal fashion. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
it is necessary to note here, and without getting bogged down in conspiracy theories, that where the chemical attack is concerned there is need for caution. If Mr Assad’s forces were involved in the Idlib attack, they must face justice. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
in the past there have also been strong suspicions that holy warrior rebels have carried out chemical attacks; American journalist Seymour Hersh wrote that the 2013 Ghouta chemical attack may have been carried out by the Nusra Front. But regardless of who is responsible for such chemical attacks, it should be the UN’s responsibility to investigate and bring to justice the perpetrators. The US cannot be allowed to unilaterally play the international policeman; its record shows that previous military interventions have only exacerbated the situation. The removal of Saddam Hussein, under the pretext of ’weapons of mass destruction’, springs to mind. Syria is a mess, with hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced -- and the US should not be igniting a wider conflagration through the use of its military muscle. The world community, under UN auspices, must act to prevent any future use of chemical weapons, as well as a further expansion of the Syrian conflict through unilateral actions.

200 IS militants killed as Salahuddin province launches ‘preemptive’ operations

Lions of Islam were killed as officials in Salahuddin province said Friday they launched a "preemptive" offensive against the group.

The province’s statement said the offensive was codenamed "Revenge for the Martyrs of Iraq and Salahuddin".

Salahuddin has witnessed an escalation in IS attacks on deployments by Iraqi government forces and allied paramilitary troops al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units).

PMUs said Thursday they killed 14 IS members after an attempted attack on the city of Baiji, north of the province. The news came hours after six jacket wallahs from the group were reportedly killed before carrying out an attack at the city.

On Wednesday, a violent attack by the Islamic State on Salahuddin’s city of Tikrit left 31 dead, including 14 coppers.

Assistance Mission in Iraq says 1115 people, excluding security members, were killed and maimed in violence across Iraq during March.

Syria Rebels Welcome US Strike, Urge More
[An Nahar] Syrian rebels on Friday welcomed a US strike on a government airbase, but urged additional action, with one powerful faction saying a single strike was "not enough."

The US attack on the Shayrat base in central Syria was Washington's first military action against the regime in the six-year civil war.

"Hitting one airbase is not enough, there are 26 airbases that target civilians," a key figure in the Army of Islam faction, Mohammed Alloush, said on his Twitter account.

"The whole world should save the Syrian people from the clutches of the killer Bashar (al-Assad) and his aides."

Other rebel groups welcomed the US strike and called for continued military action against the regime.

DM: Syria claims it KNEW America was about to launch airstrikes hours before the attack on its airbase and moved its planes out of the way
[MAIL] Syria has claimed it knew America was about to launch airstrikes hours before the attack on its airbase - and was able to move its planes out of the way.

The US military fired more than 50 tomahawk missiles at the al-Shayrat military airfield near Homs at 1.40am today. Russia was informed of the airstrike about 30 minutes in advance, according to Moscow's ambassador to the UN.

Now a Syrian military source has claimed that it had already 'learned of the American threat' and that precautions were taken 'in more than one military point'. The source did not say how they knew or who had informed them.

'We learned of the American threat and the expected military bombardment on Syrian territory,' a source told AFP.

Russian air strike kills 11 people in Idlib province
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] At least 11 people killed Friday in a Russian Arclight airstrike on Idlib province hours after U.S. air strikes on regime air base in central Syria left 6 soldiers killed, activists said.

The provocative strike by Russia on Heesh town and neighboring villages in the southern countryside defied an international consensus says targeting civilians must be stopped.

The Syrian Observatory fro Human Rights said Arclight airstrikes may also have struck Khan Sheikhun town on Friday, where a chemical attack killed scores of people this week.

The US fired dozens of cruise missiles on Friday at an airfield from which it said the Khan Sheikhun chemical attack that killed at least 86 people was launched on Tuesday.

Washington blamed the gas attack on Syrian government forces. The Syrian regime strongly denies responsibility and says it does not use chemical weapons.

Canada Backs U.S. Strikes in Syria
[An Nahar] Canada "fully supports" the U.S. firing of cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Friday.

"Canada fully supports the United States' limited and focused action to degrade the Assad regime's ability to launch chemical weapons attacks against innocent civilians, including many children," he said in a statement.

"President Assad's use of chemical weapons and the crimes the Syrian regime has committed against its own people cannot be ignored," he added. "These gruesome attacks cannot be permitted to continue operating with impunity."

The prime minister called this week's chemical attack in the northwestern province of Idlib "a war crime" and "unacceptable."

"Canada condemns all uses of chemical weapons," he said.

Hamas Commander Ghandour Designated as Global Terrorist
[Asharq al-Aswat] The US State Department gave a "global terrorist" designation to Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", commander Abu Anas al-Ghandour considering him a direct threat to the US and its interest, in a statement for the Department.

Under a 2001 executive order that imposes sanctions on foreigners who have committed or posed a significant risk of committing terrorist attacks, the US and its citizens will generally not be allowed to conduct business with Ghandour ‐ also all assets he have in the US were frozen.

Ghandour leads a Gazoo brigade for Hamas, which the US considers a terrorist organization, according to the US State Department. He played a role in the kidnapping of Shalit at an Israeli border crossing, were two Israeli soldiers were killed and four were maimed.

A report prepared by the US House of Representative Committee on Homeland Security revealed that forces of Evil have increased their targeting of airports for the sake of spreading dismay in the US ‐ it added that up to 245 terrorist attacks took place in the US since September 2001 attacks and 36 others were discovered in 2016.

Senator Michael McColl, Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, stressed that efforts should be intensified to deprive these snuffies from their safe havens abroad and to face extremism strictly inside the US.

India Inks Weapons Deal Worth Nearly $2 bn with Israel
The Hinjoo connection gets stronger.
[An Nahar] India will buy nearly $2 billion worth of weapons technology from Israel in what's being described as the "largest defense contract" ever signed by the military exporting giant.

The deal will see state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries provide India with an advanced defence system of medium-range surface-to-air missiles, launchers and communications technology, the company said in a statement Thursday.

The "mega" missile agreement is "considered to be the largest defense contract in Israel's defense industries' history", the company said.

The Israeli firm will also supply a naval defence system including long-range surface-to-air missiles for India's first aircraft carrier, which is still under construction.

Comment was not immediately available from India's defence ministry.

Israel Aerospace Industries said some components will be assembled in India, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push to reduce reliance on costly imports.

Modi's government has raised the limit on foreign investment in the defence sector and encouraged tie-ups between foreign and local companies under a 'Make in India' campaign.

India -- the world's largest defence importer -- has been investing tens of billions in updating its Soviet-era military hardware to counter long-standing tensions with regional rivals China and Pakistain.

India has signed several big-ticket defence deals since Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party stormed to power in 2014.

For Trump, an overnight evolution on Syria
[DAWN] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's sudden decision to order Arclight airstrikes against the Syrian government was an overnight evolution for a president who long warned against deeper American involvement in one of the world's most stubbornly violent conflicts.

As he soberly announced the assault Thursday night, Trump argued that the move was still within the framework of his "America First" foreign policy agenda.

The United States, he said, has a "vital national security interest" in stopping the proliferation of the kinds of chemical weapons the Syrian government used against its citizens earlier this week.

Yet Trump's actions left no doubt that at least in this instance his view of America's role in the world has been altered.

Trump is hardly the first president to reconsider his views after assuming the responsibility of controlling the world's most powerful military.

But with a major shift coming just 77 days into his presidency, his may be one of the fastest transformations in recent memory.

After spending years warning US leaders that Syria was a dangerous quagmire, Trump is said to have been moved by the gripping images of young Syrian children's listless bodies that were beamed across the world following the chemical attack.

He mourned the "beautiful babies" were among the dozens killed by the deadly gases and accused Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Trampler of Homs...
of having "choked" his own citizens.

His sentiment the United States' "responsibility to protect" echoed those often used by some Trump's ardent detractors.

Soldiers fled the burning military base, 90 miles from the city of Maiduguri, a resident of Wajiriko told the Naij news agency. He added that gunnies arrived at the base in pickup trucks, and engaged in heavy gunfire before they burned the installation. The resident noted, though, that only soldiers and not villagers were attacked.

Mustapha Karimbe, a member of a local citizens' vigilante group which is aiding in the fight against Boko Haram, said the soldiers at the base moved to another base about 40 miles away.

"There were no reports of casualties from either side, but the base was completely burned by the Boko Haram terrorists, and the soldiers fled," Karimbe said.

Hizbullah Slams U.S. Strike on Syria as 'Blatant Aggression, Foolish Step'
[An Nahar] Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
on Friday condemned the overnight U.S. missile strike on a Syrian air base as a "blatant aggression" and "foolish step" that will aggravate tensions in the region.

"This new crime reflects the U.S. administration's insistence on carrying on with the hostile course that the United States has always taken against our nation, in order to serve the interests of the Zionist entity and achieve its ambitions in the region," Hizbullah said in a statement.

"Such reprehensible attacks cannot affect the morale of the heroic Syrian army which is achieving one victory after another against the murderous Moslems who are backed by the U.S. and its cronies in the various Syrian regions," the party added.

Such attacks "will not have any negative impact on the axis of resistance and resilience that is standing by the Syrian state and aiding it in its continuous war against terrorism," Hizbullah, which has sent thousands of fighters into neighboring Syria to bolster the regime against an Islamist-led uprising, went on to say.

"This foolish step by the Trump administration will lead to great and dangerous tensions across the region and will further complicate the situations across the world," Hizbullah warned.

The U.S. fired a barrage of 59 cruise missiles at the Shayrat base at dawn in response to a suspected chemical attack on a rebel-held town on Tuesday widely blamed on the Damascus regime.

The Syrian government has categorically denied the accusation, saying it had struck an arms depot belonging to a jihadist group.

as part of a major government crackdown on rival politicians who narrowly failed to seize control of parliament in the honeymoon islands.

Qasim Ibrahim, who ran for president in 2013 and currently heads the Jumhooree Party (JP), was one of four signatories of an opposition unity deal aimed at toppling President Abdulla Yameen.

The bid failed after Yameen ordered troops to remove the dissenting MPs from the floor of parliament, causing chaotic scenes and prompting the US to urge the Maldives to restore faith in democracy.

Ibrahim was taken into custody on Thursday night after police questioned him about allegations he bribed politicians, according to a coalition of dissidents known as the Maldives United Opposition (MUO).

Anadolu news agency reported Friday that pilot Mehmet Sufhan, 56, was treated in the southern province of Hatay for a spinal fracture suffered after he ejected from the damaged Syrian plane on March 4. He was found in an exhausted state after a nine-hour search.

Anadolu says he was arrested following his discharge from the hospital.

Iranians are condemning Khan Sheikhoun massacre
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Millions have been shocked by the sight of children dying as a result of the recent Khan Sheikhoun massacre in Idlib. We should be aware that unfortunately this might not be the last chemical attack.

Such attacks have taken place several times in the past. We wake up to the news of horrific massacres and then life goes back to normal. Then another massacre happens. The photo of Aylan Kurdi, the Syrian boy who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea as he was fleeing the war in Syria with his family, shook the world but nothing happened.

Later on, there was the picture of Syrian child Omran Daqneesh wiping blood off his face; nothing happened thereafter. Unfortunately, nothing will happen now as well. It is morally and ethically shameful to live through these developments and watch how these crimes against humanity are being committed before the eyes of the entire world.

Pentagon: RU May Have Directly Participated in Syrian Chem Weapons Attack
[Breitbart] A stunning update on Friday afternoon from the Associated Press said the Pentagon is investigating possible Russian participation in the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons attack.

These officials also supported the dire suspicion that nearby hospitals were attacked to cover up evidence of the WMD deployment:

The officials say Russia has failed to control the Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons.

They say a drone belonging either to Russia or Syria was seen hovering over the site of the chemical weapons attack Tuesday after it happened. The drone returned late in the day as citizens were going to a nearby hospital for treatment. Shortly afterward, officials say the hospital was bombed.

The officials say they believe the hospital attack may have been an effort to cover up evidence of the attack.

The officials weren’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter and demanded anonymity. They say they’re still reviewing evidence.

According to CNN, the Pentagon is particularly interested in whether a Russian warplane actually conducted the bombing run on the Khan Sheikhoun hospital where victims were receiving treatment within hours of the attack, "with the aim of destroying evidence."

Such an inquiry will not, of course, sit well with Russia, which is currently demanding a U.N. Security Council investigation of American aggression.

There have been conflicting reports about whether any Russian personnel or aircraft, particularly helicopters, were present at the Sharyat airbase. Videos can be found online purporting to show Russian helicopters at the base as recently as February, but Fox News quotes Pentagon briefers stating "no Russian aircraft were at the Sharyat airfield" when the missiles struck.

However, the Fox News report also quotes U.S. officials who said "between 12 and 100 Russian military personnel" were present at the base, complete with their own barracks, which the U.S. "took pains" to avoid blowing up. If the chemical weapons attack on Idlib province was indeed conducted from the base, it would be very difficult for the Russians to argue they were unaware a war crime was in progress under their noses.

Keep in mind that Google is very left wing. So you can take a guess what they consider 'true' and what they consider 'false'. Millions of people will believe them because, well they are google! Do no evil and all that. With a particular definition of evil....
Sadly this article is likely true.

[Guardian] Google is to start displaying fact-checking labels in its search results to highlight news and information that has been vetted and show whether it is considered to be true or false, as part of its efforts to help combat the spread of misinformation and fake news.

The fact-checking feature, which was first introduced to Google News in the UK and US in October, will now be displayed as an information box in general search results as well as news search results globally.

The small snippets display information about the claim made by a particular page or site and who made the claim, as well as the results of fact checking on the highlighted claim. The fact checks are not performed by Google, but by named trusted publishers and fact-checkers using an open system to mark claims as having been checked.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
In overnight raids, IDF measures car-rammer’s home for demolition
[IsraelTimes] Military also arrests brother of Paleostinian who killed Sgt. Elhai Teharlev in vehicular attack; impounds cars and seizes 'terror funds'.

Israeli troops on Friday raided the West Bank hometown of a Paleostinian assailant who plowed his car into two IDF soldiers a day earlier, killing one of them, the army said.

In Silwad, northeast of Ramallah, the military also impounded cars it said were stolen and seized some NIS 40,000 ($11,000) of "terror funds," the IDF said.

On Thursday morning, a Silwad resident, 21-year-old Malek Ahmad Mousa Hamed, drove his car into the soldiers at the nearby Ofra junction. Sgt. Elhai Teharlev, 20, was killed and another soldier was lightly maimed.

In the early morning raid on Friday, Hamed’s brother was tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
and the family’s home was measured -- the first step in preparing it for demolition.

On Thursday night, the army imposed a so-called "breathing closure" on the Paleostinian town, allowing residents in freely, but only letting them out after a security check, the army said.

Also on Thursday, the work permits for the entire family were frozen. On Friday, those permits were taken away, the IDF said.

The army’s Silwad operation was carried out in collaboration with the Shin Bet security service, Israel Police, and Border Police.

"This is part of the ’concept of expanded prevention’ for taking action against all the circles of support for the terrorist," the army said in a statement.

In an unrelated operation, the IDF arrested three other Paleostinians in the West Bank city of Nablus.

According to the military, one of them was a member of the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terrorist group, while the other two took part in "popular terrorism," a catch-all term typically referring to rock-throwing and violent protests against security forces.
Ynet adds:
Malak Hamed was arrested following the attack and taken for interrogation by the Shin Bet. He is part of the Hamed extended family, which is linked to Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",. Nine members of the family have committed terrorist crimes in the West Bank over the years.

A Woman Fell Off California's Highest Bridge While Trying to Take a Selfie
[COSMO] A woman was trying to take a selfie on Foresthill Bridge, the highest bridge in California, when she fell 60 feet off its edge, suffering injuries that left her "lucky to be alive," police say. According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the unnamed woman and a group of her friends were walking on the girders underneath the bridge, which is against the law. The woman tried to take a selfie and fell off the girders, landing 60 feet below on a trail.

"They were taking a picture on the bridge, and then the big bolts that are holding the beams together, she stepped on them kind of weirdly and lost balance and fell backwards," her friend, Paul Goncharuk, told CBS Sacramento.

The woman was knocked unconscious, had a deep wound on her arm, and broke bones. She was rushed to a hospital and will need surgery, but she is expected to make a full recovery.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed during the ongoing Hamza military operations in eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province.

According to the local officials, the forces of Evil were killed in the past 24 hours in Achin district during the clearance operations and Arclight airstrikes.

The provincial government media office in a statement said Thursday at least thirty ISIS forces of Evil were killed during the Hamza operations since Wednesday.

The statement further added that three more ISIS forces of Evil were also killed and five others were maimed during the Shaheen military operations in Ghani Khel district.

The provincial government also added that 700 hectares of land were also cleared of poppy during the ongoing campaign to eradicate opium cultivation in this province.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in eastern Afghanistan but the anti-government armed hard boy groups have recently increased their insurgency activities in some parts of the province during the recent years.

Both the Afghan and US forces conducted regular strikes against the loyalists of the terror group in this province.

The increased raids, usually involving dronezaps, by the US forces followed a broader role granted by the B.O. regime earlier last year.

Islamic State threatens attacks in Jordan in new video

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
has released a new video threatening Jordan and urging its supporters to carry out attacks there similar to the deadly one it staged in Karak last December.

Entitled "Be Prepared for Worse", the snuffies released a 20-minute video featuring bloody images of brutal execution of five persons, who the group claimed to be Syrian personnel who received a military training in Jordan.

The IS fighters attacked the Jordanian tribes that are accused of disowning their sons who joined the group and battled in Syria. It also posted news about some tribes that ended relations with their sons.

The video also mentioned the Karak attack, which left 10 persons, including seven security personnel and a Canadian tourist, killed and 34 others injured. It also screened remarks by Jordanian officials reviewing the attack.

The video, issued by IS’s Wilayatul Furat, Arabic for Euphrates State, affiliated to the IS, the group mourned Omar Mahdi Zidan, a prominent Jordanian member whose death was reported few weeks ago.

Army to seal off West Bank, Gaza for Passover holiday
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians will be barred from entering Israel for a week, from midnight on Monday until midnight the following Monday, April 17 except for special cases, IDF says.

The closure will affect the tens of thousands of Paleostinians who legally work in Israel every day, most of them in construction and maintenance.

Last month, the head of the Shin Bet security service warned lawmakers that terror groups may try to carry out attacks during the Passover holiday.

Hillary Clinton calls for destruction of Syrian Air Force
[ALMASDARNEWS] (3:03 A.M.) "Who you gonna call at 3 a.m.?"
Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
, despite losing the 2016 US Presidential Election, has continued on her war monger, calling for her country to destroy Syria’s air force, days after a chemical attack killed over 50 people, in which the US has blamed the Syrian government without providing sufficient evidence.

"Assad has an air force, and that air force is the cause of most of these civilian deaths as we have seen over the years and as we saw again in the last few days," Clinton said in a speech at the "Women in the World" summit in New York City. "And I really believe that we should have and still should take out his air fields and prevent him from being able to use them to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them."

"I still believe we should have done a no-fly zone," she said, in a slight knock against former President Barack Obama
That’s just how white folks will do you....
, whose Cabinet she served in. "We should have been more willing to confront Assad."

Clinton, was a n open supporter of the US conducting direct action in Syria. despite Obama’s position on taking no military action in the country.

"I wish, obviously I wish that the international community writ large had been able to rein this in," Clinton said, while acknowledging that the decision was not an easy one.

Clinton then also took the opportunity to attack Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
"He is absolutely a prisoner of his family’s expectations, his dead father’s looming presence and his delusion, that I believe he now probably could pass a lie detector about, that everyone who opposes him is a terrorist," Clinton said of Assad, before adding, "That is how Putin thinks."

Stockholm police catch 2nd of 3 beer truck terrorists after a dramatic high-speed car chase: 'ISIS-supporting' Uzbeki father-of-four, 39, is arrested before another suspect is led away in handcuffs
Information as of 10 p.m. EDT Friday. Hopefully the third man will be picked up today, along with their connections.
[DailyMail]
  • Terror suspect jumped into cab of a beer lorry while its driver was making a delivery

  • Masked man sped through central Stockholm aiming at pedestrians before crashing into the Åhlens department store on Klarabergsgatan. At least four people died and 15 were injured

  • Witnesses heard shots fired and two suspects were filmed being detained in the street

  • A 39-year-old father-of-four was arrested in the northern suburb of Marsta

  • And there was a further arrest of a younger man at 11pm in nearby Hjulsta
This is the moment Swedish police snared a suspected Isis fanatic following a high-speed chase and tossed in the clink
Please don't kill me!
him in relation to the Stockholm truck attack that saw at least four people killed and 15 injured.

The 39-year-old father-of-four was arrested in the northern suburb of Marsta after going on the run following the attack, reported Swedish newspaper Aftonblat. The man, believed to be from Uzbekistan, was wearing a balaclava, with broken glass on his clothes. He reportedly confessed to being involved in the atrocity. He had posted Isis propaganda on Facebook and liked pictures of casualties after the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon in 2013, Aftonblat reported.

Police suspect he was behind the wheel of the truck, although other security sources reported in Swedish media said the driver is still on the lam.

Two men were tackled to the ground at the scene and arrested. Police questioned them but said they were not suspected of any crime.
A further arrest was made at 11pm last night in the Stockholm suburb of Hjulsta, according to Swedish newspaper Expressen. Pictures show the second man, who looked younger, being handcuffed and taken away in a police car. According to Swedish television, the two arrested men are linked.

During the attack, which happened around 3pm local time, a hijacked 30-tonne truck ploughed down pedestrians before crashing into a shopping centre and bursting into flames.

Three men jumped out from inside the lorry and opened fire before trying to stab pedestrians, witnesses said.

Two men were tackled to the ground and arrested. Police questioned them but said they were not suspected of any crime.

Police released CCTV of the man who bravely ran away, who was wearing a green jacket, white shoes and a grey hoodie. Officers said the first suspect arrested on Friday evening in Marsta resembled the man in the appeal photos.

Following the lorry crash, armed turbans were seen running into Stockholm's Central railway station and opening fire. Two people were also said to have been stabbed.

Spendrups Brewery said the truck belonged to its company and was stolen. The vehicle's original driver, who has not been named, was hurt in the hijacking after trying to cling to the vehicle.

Stockholmers appeared to be following police advice to stay indoors and avoid crowded areas, with a number of normally-bustling city streets deserted.

Security was also beefed up across European cities in the wake of the attack. In Norway, one of the few European countries where police are not routinely armed, officials announced that officers in major urban areas would now carry firearms. In a tweet, Norwegian Police said officers in its largest cities and at Oslo’s airport would be carrying weapons until further notice. In Finland, police increased patrols in the capital Helsinki.

Nine planes ‘destroyed’ by US strike on Syria base
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Nine planes as well as munition and fuel depots were destroyed in the US strike on Syria’s Shayrat airbase early Friday but the runway was intact, the Russian state channel Rossiya24 reported from the scene.

"According to preliminary information, nine Syrian airplanes were destroyed," its correspondent said in a report from the base, broadcast hours after the strike at 0040 GMT Friday.

Stores with ammunition and fuel were also targeted, he said, adding that a fire and some kabooms were ongoing.

"But not all equipment has been destroyed, there is some that was not impacted by the strike," the correspondent said.

"The landing strip... is practically not impacted," he added.

Footage showed the runway intact but covered in debris, as well as two planes sitting in concrete hangars.

The aircraft were apparently not heavily damaged while some other hangars were charred and surrounded by rubble.

The US Department of Defense lists targets for the 7 April strike as having included "aircraft, hardened aircraft shelters, petroleum and logistical storage, ammunition supply bunkers, air defence systems and radars".

Israeli sources indicate that 14 of the Syrian air force's approximately 40-strong fleet of Su-22s were destroyed in the attack, with additional assets including helicopters also having been struck. Significant damage was caused to the air base's two main runways, they add.

3 Dead, 10 Hurt in Ain el-Hilweh Clashes, Shelling Reaches Areas outside Camp
[An Nahar] At least three people were killed and ten others were maimed Friday after armed festivities erupted at the Paleostinian refugee camp of Ein el-Hellhole in the southern city of Sidon, media reports said.

"The casualty toll has risen to three dead and over 10 maimed," MTV said, adding that "gunshots have reached the Sidon-Zahrani highway and the sounds of shells are echoing across the city of Sidon."

The fighting erupted during a deployment by the Joint Paleostinian Security Force on the camp's al-Fawqani street, the National News Agency said.

It said the clash erupted with a hardline Islamist group led by the murderous Moslem Bilal Badr and that rocket-propelled grenades and machineguns were being used in the fighting.

Clashes intensified in the evening amid Lebanese and Paleostinian political contacts aimed at reaching a ceasefire, the agency reported.

It said several shells had reached areas outside the camp such as the Siroub area, the area near the Officers Club, and al-Hamshari.

The agency said the Joint Force was insisting on deploying in three locations it had specified amid continued opposition by Badr's group to the move.

Media reports meanwhile said a lot of families were fleeing the area of the festivities.

NNA said Sidon MP Bahia Hariri was conducting intensive contacts with the national and Islamist Paleostinian factions in a bid to reach a ceasefire.

Several similar festivities have erupted in Ein el-Hellhole in recent months, mainly pitting Islamist murderous Moslems from Badr's group and members of the secular Fatah Movement.
