Packers quarterback: Protests are about unity in the face of Trump's divisiveness
[TheHill] Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Thursday night said NFL protests are about showing unity in the face of divisiveness from President Trump.

At a press conference following his team's victory over the Chicago Bears, Rodgers charged the president with being divisive without mentioning his name.

"It's never been about the national anthem, it's never been about the military," Rodgers said of the protests.

"We're all patriotic in the locker room, we love our troops. This is about something bigger than that: an invitation to show unity in the face of some divisiveness from the top in this country."
Hoping this follows him in his quest for endorsement gigs. One trick pony without the "aw-shucks" likeability of Brett Favre, imo.

#1  As repeated many times before - the problem is not the Kaepernicks of the world kneeling during the National Anthem; the problem is Trump's reaction to it. And I thought Rodgers was smart.

Terror Networks
The Benghazi Attack Is Finally Being Properly Prosecuted
[New Yorker] On the night of June 15, 2014, eight Americans‐six Delta Force operators, an F.B.I. agent, and an Arabic translator‐travelled in rubber boats across the Mediterranean and arrived on a beach in Benghazi, Libya. They hustled across the sand and snuck into a nearby safe house. Their plan was to lure and capture Ahmed Abu Khatallah, the alleged ringleader of the most politicized terrorist attack since 9/11.

Twenty-one months earlier, on September 11, 2012, Khatallah had, according to federal prosecutors, coördinated the assault on the American Consulate in Benghazi. Two State Department officials, including the U.S. Ambassador, Christopher Stevens, died in that attack, and two C.I.A. contractors were killed in a subsequent firefight at a nearby C.I.A. facility.

A day after the eight-man team beached on the coast, one of Khatallah’s associates unwittingly led Khatallah to the safe house. As soon as Khatallah stepped into the dark villa, several soldiers pounced on him. He tried to kick, punch, and bite his way free, without success. The F.B.I. agent present‐who has been identified in court by only a surname, "Johnson"‐brought Khatallah into a bathroom, where he covered the suspect’s eyes, plugged his ears, and stuffed a bit into his mouth. The team then hustled Khatallah across the beach, boarded its boats, and raced toward the U.S.S. New York, a twenty-five-thousand-ton* amphibious transport dock made, in part, with steel recovered from the World Trade Center towers, and waiting offshore.

The Benghazi attack has been thoroughly scrutinized. The Republican-led House of Representatives spent millions of dollars and held hearing after hearing on the matter during President Barack Obama’s second term. But the lawmakers leading the hearings seemed more focussed on Hillary Clinton and her colleagues‐trying to find any missteps they made before, during, or after the attack that could be used for political purposes‐than on the alleged perpetrators of the violence itself.

Meanwhile, the hunt for Khatallah was being pursued by operators and analysts from the C.I.A., Joint Special Operations Command, and the F.B.I. One of the biggest questions for them was what to do with Khatallah once they found him.

Counterterrorism officials considered a drone strike or a lethal raid, a former military official told me, but President Obama and the Justice Department wanted to capture him alive and bring him to the United States to stand trial.

Distrust of Senate grows within GOP - Tax Bill in Question
[The Hill] A day after the GOP presented a united front around the rollout of President Trump’s tax plan, House Republicans are expressing deep reservations about the Senate’s ability to get the job done.

Lawmakers stung over the failure to pass ObamaCare repeal worry the same fate could befall the tax measure if a handful of senators raise objections.

"Donald Trump won with an electoral landside and his three big campaign points were ObamaCare repeal, tax reform and border security. For a handful of senators to derail that agenda is very frustrating," said Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas).

'Something close to genocide': San Juan mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz begs for more relief
[Independent] The mayor of San Juan issued an emotional "mayday call" for help for the hurricane-stricken island of Puerto Rico, saying "we are dying here" as a pair of Democrats sought an emergency oversight hearing.

"I cannot fathom the thought that the greatest nation in the world cannot figure out logistics for a small island," San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín said during a press conference. "I am asking the President of the United States to make sure somebody is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives," she added, warning that "if we don’t get the food and water into peoples' hands what we are going to see is something close to a genocide".

In a letter to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Rep Elijah Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, and Rep Stacey Plaskett, the US Virgin Islands’ delegate to Congress, sought to convene a hearing to address what they called the slow pace of federal help in the aftermath of successive battering hurricanes.

President Trump questioning having family as staff
[The Hill] President Trump is privately questioning whether having his family members serve in the White House creates too much of a distraction for his administration, according to a new report.

Politico reported on Friday that Trump has been quietly talking to other administration officials as he reconsiders the roles of White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

"Baby, you’re getting killed, this is a bad deal," Trump reportedly told Ivanka Trump in a room with other staffers after viewing criticism of his daughter's role in the administration.

Ivanka Trump faced heavy criticism during last July's G20 summit when she briefly sat in for her father at a meeting with world leaders. Trump defended his daughter on Twitter at the time, arguing that the same standard would not exist for Hillary Clinton's daughter Chelsea Clinton.

"When I left Conference Room for short meetings with Japan and other countries, I asked Ivanka to hold seat. Very standard. Angela M agrees!" Trump tweeted in July. "If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother, as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!"

Kushner, however, is embroiled in a different controversy. The senior White House aide is part of a special counsel investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia over a meeting he attended at Trump Tower with a Russian lawyer who promised damaging information on Hillary Clinton.

Although Politico reported that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has been frustrated with Kushner's role at the White House, Kelly responded to the story in a statement to Politico, saying, "Jared is a valued member of the White House staff."

Jackie Mason is the Voice of Reason (Video)
[Breitbart] In these trying times, Jackie Mason is the Voice of Reason.

In this week’s exclusive clip for Breitbart News, Jackie takes aim at the NFL players who have taken a knee during the pre-game singing of the National Anthem, and the celebrities who fall all over themselves to prove that they support the players.

"How far is this gonna go? You think pretty soon they’ll start holding their noses during the Pledge of Allegiance?" Jackie wonders.

"Did you hear about all these actors who have all this sympathy, and they’re all identifying with everybody who’s down on their knees? They’re walking around, as soon as they see somebody, they get down on their knee," Jackie explains. "You know why? They’re looking for an opportunity to show you how they can’t stand this country. The more money they make, the more they hate this country."

Jackie says that NFL players are really kneeling because they’re "still suffering from discrimination" in the United States.

End the NFL
[SultanKnish] An Army recruit starts off with a salary under $20,000. Thousands of active duty military personnel are on food stamps. Millions of veterans rely on them to feed their families and themselves.

That’s how we treat the best of us. Here’s how we treat the worst of us.

An NFL rookie’s minimum salary is $465,000. And the majority of NFL players are usually bankrupt a few years after retirement because they blew through most of their money. Dozens of NFL players are arrested every year on charges ranging from murder to rape to animal abuse.

2017 was a banner year for the NFL with three times as many arrests as last year.

...It’s no wonder that so many of the NFL’s millionaire scumbags are eager to join Colin Kaepernick’s protests against the justice system by degrading our anthem.

It’s because they’re criminals.

...The only question is why are the rest of us subsidizing it?

...The NFL comes with a pass on property taxes (those are for little people) and taxes in general. Until 2015, the NFL was a non-profit. "Professional football leagues" was actually inserted into the Internal Revenue Code to provide a special non-profit status. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell got paid $44 million in one year. That made him the highest paid non-profit exec in the country.

The entire NFL is an illegal trust. It’s a monopoly that was illegally legalized by Congress.

That monopoly allows the NFL and its teams to cash in on television licensing and team gear. After the NFL uses its illegal monopoly to rip off broadcasters, ESPN rips off cable subscribers.

...The NFL is built on government taking money from people and giving it to the industry. Its leftward tilt isn’t an accident. It’s a calculated move. Who are the folks most likely to bail out an industry? They’re on the left. Not the right. If your monopoly is dying, it’s time to go left and hate America.

Anthem bashing is popular with the left. And it’s very popular with the social justice bloggers who increasingly dominate sports journalism, and not just on ESPN. Hating America will score points with the left. It’ll buy the NFL more protectionism from the media and the 2020 Democrats.

The only question is why do we need the NFL?

Once upon a time there was a football free market. Multiple leagues competed with each other. And the NFL was just one of many. The NFL-AFL merger created a monster monopoly that has worked to crush any independent league through its control over broadcasting and venues.

That's what happened with the United States Football League which won an anti-trust court case against the NFL, but was forced under anyway.

...Before the anthem protests, the NFL was just one of the corrupt legacies of Democrat rule. It’s a reminder of the fact that social justice politics, whether it’s Obama’s "You Didn’t Build That" or Huey Long’s "Share Our Wealth", is nothing more than organized thievery from the working class.

But the NFL is no longer just a corrupt monopoly. Instead it’s becoming a radical anti-American organization that uses its taxpayer-subsidized stadiums and monopoly broadcasting rights to spread hatred toward this country and disrespect to the soldiers who fought and died for it.

America could have tolerated the NFL’s corrupt thievery. But there’s no way Americans should be subsidizing this diseased leftover of Democrat corruption when it spews hate at the United States.

It’s time for the NFL’s anti-trust exemption to go the way of Ma Bell.

Break up the corrupt Democrat monopoly of the NFL and demolish the barriers to the formation of independent leagues by taking on the NFL, ESPN and its broadcasting partners in crime.

It’s time for the NFL to take a knee and for the free market to rise.

#1  One commenter writes:

One way for Trump as Commander in Chief to take action against the N.F.L. (No Fans Left) is through executive order. He could pass an E.O. saying No active members of the military will participate in fly overs, Honor Guards or advertisement with the National Football League. If he took this tact I'm sure the police departments would also follow suit.

#3  ...Both of those are awesome ideas, and I'd love to see the Hall of Fame induction week ceremonies come off with no military support at all. I had a lot of fun the three years I marched in it (hard not to smile while standing behind a car carrying Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, and Don Meredith while they're good naturedly and slightly profanely arguing over who the better player was) but were I in the same place today, I'd at least register a protest myself about having to march in my country's uniform to honor people who don't give a rat's backside about what I'm supposed to be defending.

1922 - Your gasoline will cost a bit more. Tetraethyl lead will be added to gas to make your automobile run better, more efficiently.

1973 - Your gasoline will cost a bit more. Tetraethyl lead removed from our gasoline to make your automobile engie burn cleaner and more efficiently.

1975 - Your gasoline will cost a bit more, but Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards will improve the average fuel economy of your automobile.

2006 - Your gasoline will cost a bit more, but we're adding ethanol due to the energy crisis. It will help your automobile run more efficiently and cleaner.

Economy
Big Brother's Cashless Scheme
[American Thinker] The Wall Street Journal recently ran pro and con articles on the idea of abolishing cash -- that is, paper currency. If that were done, all transactions would have to be carried out electronically via means such as credit and debit cards or other electronic payment means. The supposed advantage is that it would make it difficult for criminals and the underground economy to carry on their business, because the government would know exactly what they are up to.

Another supposed advantage is that it would make it easier for the government to impose negative interest rates to fight deflation. Negative interest rates means that the government steals some percentage of your bank balance each year. Negative interest rates are difficult to impose if people can hide their money as anonymous currency.

A Puerto Rican commentator on the Wall Street Journal article pointed out that Puerto Ricans without cash were in difficult straits because the failure of the electric grid due to hurricane Maria made it impossible to use credit or debit cards.

The prospect of total and long-term failure of the electric grid due to electromagnetic pulse suggests that everyone should keep $500 or more cash in their house. Electromagnetic pulse, EMP, can result from a natural solar flare, or from the detonation of a single nuclear weapon in near outer space above the USA. The North Koreans have threatened to use EMP against the USA.

The government has already taken some steps to make the use of cash more difficult. The largest U.S. currency is now the $100 bill. Formerly $500 and larger notes were available.

The U.S. $100 bill is a de facto international currency. About $1.1 trillion in $100 dollar bills are in circulation, 75% outside of the U.S. Citizens of countries with unstable money often keep savings in $100 bills, out of sight of their governments. This money is an interest-free loan to the U.S. government. If the $100 bill is recalled, the loan would have to be paid off. When I traveled to South America in the 1970s with $100 bills, I was able to obtain favorable exchange rates from citizens of various countries eager to hoard $100 bills. The U.S. government is already profiting from the international underground economy.

#1  I know a person who travels to S. America often. People ask her to bring the latest US currency they keep in reserve so they can exchange older versions with new ones. She can make a little money on these trips doing so. When she returns to the US she has no problem depositing the older currency to replenish what she withdrew for the trip. She is originally from S. America so she has special empathy for those who value US currency.

To go all cashless would do great harm to the value of the dollar to the rest of the world.

It's a sick idea of a sick [central] banking system.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Blacks, Crime, and the Bended Knee
[American Thinker] Fresh off the heels of the march on Charlottesville and the destruction of historical monuments in the South by Black Lives Matter, protests are occurring; this time it is against our National Anthem and our flag in stadiums across our country. "Taking the knee" was first introduced by former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick about a year ago, but has since gained in momentum as many other black athletes with million-dollar salaries have joined in solidarity with demonstrations against white oppression and racism.

Whites comprise about 75 percent of America's population and they have had just about enough of the offensive accusations, protests, and moral outrage directed at them. Yes, blacks were brought here centuries ago as slaves, but America did not originate slavery nor do we still practice slavery, as do parts of Africa and Muslim nations today. In fact, America fought a civil war to end slavery. It's been over 150 years since the Emancipation Proclamation, thus, the fate of today's blacks rests not upon yesterday's slaveholders, but upon today's failed black leadership who have intentionally kept America's blacks on an imaginary plantation through the indoctrination of victimhood. By instilling the notion that blacks today are the victims of white racism and "white privilege", black leadership (Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, and Maxine Waters, to name a few) have created not only an entitlement mentality, but a dependency and helplessness prevalent among young blacks in inner cities throughout the country.

It is not "whitey" who is committing 62 percent of robberies, 57 percent of murders, 45 percent of assaults in the 75 biggest counties throughout the United States. Despite comprising only about 15 percent of the population in those counties. 91 percent of blacks are murdered by other blacks. Blacks comprise 10 percent of the population, but commit 42 percent of the robberies and 34 percent of felonies. In a report from the Department of Justice, over a 30-year period between 1980 and 2008, blacks committed half of all homicides in the United States despite comprising only 13 percent of the population.

Furthermore, a 2007 FBI file reports there were 433,934 single-offender victimization crimes against whites by blacks compared to 55,685 crimes committed by whites against blacks -- eight times as many more crimes committed against whites by blacks. Interracial rape is almost exclusively a black on white crime with 14,000 assaults on white woman but not one case of a white sexual assault on a black female.

#1  Blacks spearheaded the removal of Confederate monuments. At the same time blacks are spearheading the disrespect of the flag that flew over the Union forces that defeated the Confederacy and won blacks their freedom from slavery. The flag that flew over the forces that defeated the all white Nazi forces that murdered millions of Jews based on race. The same forces that now fight against radical Islam that believes in the slavery on non-Islamic believers.

This essentially makes the anti-US flag protesters look like idiots on bended knee.

Westboro Baptist Cult Nutters Join NFL #TakeAKnee Protest Nutters
[PJ] This can't be the kind of unity the NFL was hoping for. It appears that the mentally unstable Westboro Baptist clan is thrilled with the NFL and is publicly supporting their decision to trample all over our flag during their pre-game protests.

Contrary to the NFL's constant denial that the #TakeAKnee protests are unpatriotic or disrespectful to our nation, the Westboro cult members, who are known America-haters, see it differently and have found their soulmates in the NFL. Sending a message directly to the NFL and Jerry Jones, the cultists encouraged the continued degradation of our country on prime time.

"Westboro Baptist Church takes a seat for the entirety of the national anthem!" they cheerily posted on Twitter. It's fitting that the most hated cult in America is now supporting the most hated sport. Serendipitous.

US military chief Dunford: China is main threat to security
[Asia Times] China was identified this week as posing the most significant long-term military challenge to the United States by America’s senior-most military leader, as he set out new US military strategies and policies toward China and Asia more generally in a congressional hearing.

Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, also revealed in the hearing, before senate, that he had informed China last summer of US plans to use military force against North Korea.

Dunford was asked to rank various military threats and identified nuclear missile-armed North Korea as presenting an "immediate" threat, with Russia and China posing potential dangers based on their growing nuclear arsenals.

"We don’t actually have the luxury of identifying a single threat today, unfortunately, nor, necessarily, to look at it in a linear fashion," Dunford said.

The four-star Marine Corps general then went on to say that, over the longer term, China represents the most significant danger, overshadowing the nuclear and cyber power of Moscow.

"If I look out to 2025, and I look at the demographics and the economic situation, I think China probably poses the greatest threat to our nation by about 2025, and that’s consistent with much of our analysis," Dunford said.

The comments echoed those of CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who said in July that he believes China is the most significant regional security threat. "I think China has the capacity to present the greatest rivalry to America... over the medium and long term," he said.

Swiss Parliament Votes to Ban Foreign-Funded Mosques and Arabic Preaching
[Breitbart] Switzerland’s legislature has voted to ban the foreign funding of mosques, including from Saudi Arabia, as well as to force mosques to use local languages instead of Arabic or other foreign tongues.

The Swiss National Council, the parliament’s lower house, voted by a narrow majority to ban the financing of mosques from abroad and for generally increasing the transparency of how mosques are funded.

If the law passes the Senate, individual mosques will need to declare who they are backed by as well as preach in one of Switzerland’s official languages, namely German, French, Italian, or Romansch, Neue Zuercher Zeitung reports.

The vote took place on Tuesday, and according to the Federal Assembly’s website, 94 members of the parliament voted in favour, and 89 voted against.

The new law is said to be inspired by a similar law enacted in Austria in 2015, which was designed to encourage a distinctly "European Islam" and to deter radicalisation and foreign influence on the nation’s Muslims.

Three injured in explosion near Ring Road in Peshawar
[DAWN] At least three people were maimed in a suspected hand grenade blast near MMC Hospital on Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
's Ring Road on Friday.

Police officials termed the nature of the kaboom as a hand grenade blast, and said it may have taken place during an attempted kidnapping for ransom. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
the case is still being investigated.

A spokesperson from Rescue 1122 earlier said that five people had been injured in the blast and were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

Police officials later revised the number of casualties down, saying that three people had been injured in the blast.

According to an official of the Paharipura cop shoppe, the kaboom occurred outside the hospital in Shinwari Town.

Khawaja Asif’s correct stand
[DAWN] What the foreign minister has claimed ought to be unremarkable and uncontested. Groups such as the Haqqani network and Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
are no allies of this country and their leaders have agendas that are inimical to the rule of law, constitutionality and democracy in Pakistain.

There cannot and should not be space for such groups to operate, either clandestinely or openly, in Pakistain and the state has no business forfeiting the rights and future of the Pak people in the pursuit of some self-defeating strategic goals. What can be debated is the right approach to dismantling the remaining Lion of Islam networks and deradicalising Pak society.

Fears of blowback are not unfounded and where peaceful means can be found, they should be thoroughly explored. Perhaps the government should consider widening the incipient debate to include parliament, the provinces and civil society.

A more inclusive, tolerant Pakistain at peace with its neighbours is first and foremost a victory for the Pak people themselves. Bad choices stem from narrowly confined deliberations. All of Pakistain should be invited to debate the country’s future.

TN Titans’ Delanie Walker Tells Fans to Stay Home
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Apparently Tennessee Titans tight end, Delanie Walker, doesn’t know where his bread is buttered. He straight up told his fans to stay home if they don’t like the players protesting the National Anthem.
Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
Delanie Walker told the Tennessean:

“First off, I’m going to say this: We’re not disrespecting the military, the men and women that serve in the Army. That’s not what it’s all about,” Titans tight end Delanie Walker said. “If you look at most of the guys in here – I’ve been in the USO. I support the troops. This is not about that. It’s about equal rights, and that’s all everyone is trying to show, is that we all care about each other.

“And the fans that don’t want to come to the game? I mean, OK. Bye.
See ya!
I mean, if you feel that’s something, we’re disrespecting you, don’t come to the game.
They won't.
You don’t have to.
They don't have to pay money to watch you, Delanie.
No one’s telling you to come to the game.
...except for some cheap advertising...
It’s your freedom of choice to do that.”
Nobody needs to buy Delanie's cheap-ass bobblehead, or his jersey. There aren't any replica Superbowl rings I can recall...

The Trumps got invited to the Dr. Seuss museum after Melania's book drama
[Circa] The mayor of Springfield, Massachusetts has invited President Trump and first lady Melania Trump to his city’s museum dedicated to author Dr. Seuss.

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno (D) extended the invite after a school librarian in Cambridge, Massachusetts recently rejected a package of Dr. Seuss books from Melania Trump.

"’One fish ‐ two fish ‐ red fish ‐ blue fish’ ‐ I think her comments stink and are ridiculous towards our beloved Dr. Seuss," he said of librarian Liz Phipps Soeiro in a statement Thursday.

"[Soeiro’s] comments that this is ’racist propaganda and that Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché and worn ambassador for children’s literature’ is ’political correctness’ at its worst," Sarno added.

"By the way, kudos to First Lady Melania Trump for her generous offer to donate Dr. Seuss books to that Cambridge school library ‐ they don’t want them ‐ we’ll take them and would be honored to have the First Lady and President Donald J. Trump to visit the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum too."

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman on Thursday called Soeiro’s reaction to the first lady’s attempted donation "something divisive" and "unfortunate."

Soeiro last Tuesday published an editorial explaining why Cambridgeport Elementary School did not need Melania Trump’s package of 10 Dr. Seuss books.

"My students have access to a school library with over nine thousand volumes and a librarian with a graduate degree in literary science," she wrote.

"You may not be aware of this, but Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for children’s literature," Soeiro added.

"Another fact that many people are unware of is that Dr. Seuss’s illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes."

The White House had previously selected one school in all 50 states to receive Melania Trump’s donation as part of an initiative promoting childhood literacy and education.

The murderous Moslem group invaded, on Wednesday, al-Tash and the 5th Kilometer regions, south and west of Ramadi. The murderous Moslems reportedly took over al-Tash and al-Jamea (university) areas after invading them with 20 pickup trucks, however, troops were able to repulse the attack. 40 IS murderous Moslems were killed, while three injured others were maimed, Brig. Gen. Saad Maan, spokesperson of Baghdad Operations said in a weekly presser on Thursday.

Early on Friday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and the Joint Operations Command announced beginning of the second phase of Hawija offensive.

On Sunday, the Joint Operations Command announced completing the first phase of operations to recapture Hawija, which launched on September 21. According to Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell, 557 IS Death Eaters were killed, while more than 100 villages and regions were liberated during the first phase.

Brig. Gen. Yahia Rasoul, front man of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, said previously that the number of Islamic State members in Hawija falls between 800 and 1500.

Death Eaters have been killed in Arclight airstrikes by Iraqi jets, northeast of Diyala, a commander was quoted saying on Friday.

"Iraqi fighter jets targeted an IS vehicle near Hamreen lake, northeast of Baquba, killing four Death Eaters on board and destroying the vehicle completely," Maj. Gen. Mazhar al-Azzawi, commander of Dijla Operations, told AlSumaria News.

"Efforts by the command are ongoing to eradicate IS sleeper cells in the town," Azzawi added.

Iraqi jets destroyed several IS vehicles and rest houses in Hamreen over the past few weeks.

In related news, Azzawi said all roads in the province, indicating stable security situations.

"All roads in Diyala, including Kirkuk-Baghdad road, are open. No roads are blocked," he said.

Attacks launched by Islamic State Death Eaters against security troops, the pro-government forces and civilians surged over the past few weeks in northeast of Diyala, which urge the Iraqi forces to prevent the Death Eaters infiltration between Salahuddin and Kirkuk provinces, especially the regions stretching along Hamreen mountains and al-Azeem town.

SHC stays proceedings in Jamshoro 'blasphemy' case
[DAWN] A division bench of the Sindh High Court's Hyderabad circuit on Friday stayed the proceedings in a case against four people who were booked on charges of blasphemy in Jamshoro a day earlier.

On Thursday, a first information report (FIR) was registered under Section 295-A of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC) against four people after a video clip surfaced showing a woman solemnising the marriage of a man and a woman under what was called "Shariat-e-Latifi".

The video showed a man, a Sindhi nationalist and follower of the Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, getting the nikkah of his daughter performed by a woman, declaring that this was being done under ’Shariat-e-Latifi’.

Section 295-A of the PPC deals with "deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs", the punishment for which may be a fine or imprisonment for a period of up to 10 years, or both.

Besides the man, his daughter, the woman who performed the nikkah and the groom had been named in the FIR.

As the father of the bride was taken into custody on Thursday, the woman seen solemnising the marriage in the video, represented by Advocate Sajjad Chandio, filed a constitutional petition in the SHC naming the Sindh home secretary, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bashir Ahmed Janwari, Senior Superintendent of Police Jamshoro Irfan Bahadur and District Inspector General Hyderabad Khadim Rind as respondents.

Cambridge says it ‘did not authorize’ rejection of Melania Trump’s book donation
[BOSTONGLOBE] Officials at Cambridge Public Schools are distancing the district from a letter penned by a school librarian rejecting books donated by first lady Melania Trump.

In the blog post, published Tuesday on the Horn Book, Liz Phipps Soeiro, a library media specialist at the district’s Cambridgeport School, began by thanking the first lady for the 10 Dr. Seuss books sent to her school "for its high standards of excellence." But she went on to explain why they would not be keeping the gifted titles.

"Cities like Philadelphia, reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
, and bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
are suffering through expansion, privatization, and school ’choice’ with no interest in outcomes of children, their families, their teachers, and their schools," she wrote. "Are those kids any less deserving of books simply because of circumstances beyond their control? Why not go out of your way to gift books to underfunded and underprivileged communities that continue to be marginalized and maligned by policies put in place by Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos?"

The school district said in a statement that while it supports its employees right to voice their personal opinions, Phipps Soeiro’s letter wasn’t an official school position.

"The opinions expressed in the Horn Book editorial were those of the writer, and not a statement on behalf of Cambridge Public Schools," the school said in Thursday statement. "This was not a formal acceptance or rejection of donated books, but a statement of opinion on the meaning of the donation.
Update at 10:50 a.m. EDT: It gets worse, because there is no memory hole on the internet. The Daily Mail has a round-up of First Lady Michelle Obama reading Dr. Seuss to schoolchildren both at home and abroad to universal acclaim, as well as First Lady Melania Trump reading the author in March... and Ms Soeiro in costume promoting Dr. Seuss earlier this year.

An unnamed security official told Arabic-language Khabar news agency that Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopters targeted al-Hamli area in the Mawza district of Yemen's southwestern province of Ta'izz on Friday, leaving 13 people dead and six others injured.

The official added that paramedics transported the maimed to hospitals in the port city of Hudaydah, located 150 kilometers southwest of the capital Sana'a, to receive medical treatment.

Separately, five people bit the dust and 11 others sustained injuries when Saudi warplanes launched aerial attacks against Sahar district in Yemen's mountainous northwestern province of Sa'ada.

Later in the day, Saudi fighter jets struck an outdoor market in the Bakil al-Mir district of the northwestern province of Hajjah, killing and injuring a number of civilians.

Turkey: warrants issued for 117 officers over failed coup
[Ynet] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

says authorities have issued detention warrants for 117 military officers‐most of them on active duty‐as part of an ongoing investigation into last year's failed coup attempt blamed on a US-based Moslem holy man.

Anadolu Agency said police had launched operations in 45 provinces to catch 98 active officers and 19 others who were previously purged from the military, over suspicion that they secretly communicated with members of holy man Fethullah Gulen

The agency said the suspects were allegedly given instructions during those calls.

Turkey launched a large-scale crackdown against Gulen's movement after the July 2016 coup attempt, dismissing more than 110,000 people from government jobs‐including the military‐and arresting more than 50,000 people.

Soldier among 3 killed in Indian shelling across LoC: ISPR
[DAWN] Three people, including a soldier, were killed and four others injured by heavy shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian troops in Rawalakot on Friday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Earlier today, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chaudhry Kashif Hussain in Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) said that two civilians, including a woman, had been killed by an IED blast 150 yards from the LoC around 6pm in the village of Keirni Galli in Haveli district.

Zahid Hussain, 16, and Robina, 26, was struck down in his prime, he said, while Akseer, son of Hakim Deen, received critical wounds from the blast,

"This is the last village before the LoC and exact information has yet to reach us," he had said. "Whatever military and other sources have so far told us clearly suggests that the blast was caused by an improvised bomb (IED)."

Dissident FARC leader killed in Colombian air force operation
[Iran Press TV] Colombia's armed forces have killed a dissident leader of the former rebel group FARC during a military operation in the country's southeast.

Euclides Mora was second-in-command of a dissident group that rejected the November 2016 peace accord, under which FARC transformed itself into a political party earlier this month.

Mora, 51, who was said to be engaged in drug trafficking, was killed in an air force operation in the jungle. Mora was killed "in a joint operation of the army, air force and police in the Calamar municipality," part of the coca-producing southern region of Guaviare, the army said.

President Juan Manuel Santos said in a message posted on Twitter, "The message is clear: surrender, otherwise jail or the grave awaits."

Mora commanded a group of FARC guerrillas who refused to disarm during the lengthy grinding of the peace processor, and was expelled with other dissident leaders from the rebel group last November.

An army statement said Mora was involved in drug trafficking and extortion in the central region of Meta and in Guaviare and Caqueta in the south, as well as recruitment of fighters.

During the military operation in which he was killed authorities captured another member of the group and confiscated weapons.

"US forces conducted two precision Arclight airstrikes in Libya against ISIS holy warriors," US Africa Command, which oversees US troops in the region, said in a statement issued Thursday.

Africa Command added that the strikes killed "several ISIS holy warriors" and were carried out "in coordination with the Libyan Government of National Accord," the internationally recognized government based in Tripoli

The strike occurred approximately 100 miles southeast of Sirte, the one-time ISIS stronghold in Libya, according to Africa Command.

Tuesday's strikes were carried out by unmanned aircraft and killed fewer than 10 ISIS fighters, two US defense officials told CNN.

The operation follows a series of six precision Arclight airstrikes that were carried out against an ISIS desert camp on Friday. Those strikes killed 17 ISIS Death Eaters and destroyed three vehicles at the camp, located about 150 miles southeast of Sirte, Africa Command told CNN Sunday in a statement.

Iraq
Iraq imposes flight ban on Kurdish region after poll
[Al Jazeera] A ban on international flights into Iraq's Kurdish region has gone into effect after the central government in Baghdad retaliated against a vote for secession that has also drawn opposition from neighbouring countries.

Iraq's Kurds overwhelmingly backed a split from Baghdad in a referendum on Monday, defying foreign powers which fear the vote could lead to regional instability.

The ban came into force at 6pm (15:00 GMT) on Friday. Foreign airlines suspended flights to the region's Erbil and Sulaimaniya, obeying a notice from the government in Baghdad, which controls Iraqi air space.

Domestic flights are still allowed, so travellers are expected to travel to Kurdistan mostly via Baghdad's airport, which will come under strain from the extra traffic.

Erbil airport was busier than usual on Friday as passengers scrambled to catch the last flights out.

Al Jazeera's Hoda Abdel-Hamid, reporting from Erbil International Airport, said: "We saw many people throughout the day leaving ahead of schedule simply because they were afraid to be blocked here and not be able to return to their homes, or because they did not want to go through Baghdad to catch an international flight".

US ‘does not recognize’ Iraqi Kurdistan referendum: Tillerson
[Iran Press TV] The United States does not officially recognize a unilateral independence referendum held by the Iraqi Kurdish region, says Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

The controversial secession referendum was held on Monday in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region in defiance of widespread calls for its cancellation.

According to Kurdish officials, over 90 percent of the voters said ’Yes’ to separation from Iraq.

"The United States does not recognize the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)’s unilateral referendum held on Monday. The vote and the results lack legitimacy and we continue to support a united, federal, democratic and prosperous Iraq," Tillerson said in a statement on Friday.

According to Ma'an, the head of Hamas in the Gazoo Strip, Yahia Senwar, said during a meeting with Gazook youth on Thursday that his group' agreement with the deal came in response to Egypt's suggestion, which was offered to the group's delegation in Cairo earlier this month.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
the Israeli government has reportedly rejected the prisoner swap; Israeli media quoted an Israeli source describing Senwar’s announcement as "a manoeuvre."

The agreement between Hamas and Egypt over the deal reached Israel through an Israeli official who is charged of negotiations, Ma'an added.

"The ball is now in the Israeli playground; they refused the plan which was approved by Egypt and our side," Senwar said.

Senwar did not reveal the details of the deal, but according to reports by Paleostinian newspaper al-Istiqlal and Israeli newspapers Haaretz and The Times of Israel, it would mean that Israel release 39 bodies of Paleostinians who were killed in 2014, including 19 Hamas members, and in return Hamas would give information on the missing Israeli soldiers that the group allegedly holds.
So first Israel pays in dozens of Palestinian bodies in the hope of receiving information that might or might not be true...
The second phase of the deal would be the release of 58 Paleostinians who were replaced in durance vile
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
in 2014 after they were released in 2011 in a prisoner swap for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, a group that is known in the Arabic media as "the Shalit captives."
Then Israel would give up even more dozens of live Palestinian terrorists as a reward for having received information that might or might not be true...
The third and last phase would be the start of negotiations between Hamas and Israel on a further prisone swap, with Egyptian mediation.
And finally, actual negotiations for a trade of, presumably, even more convicted Hamas terrorists held in Israeli prisons for the Israelis whose information was shared between releases one and two would begin. Golly.
Earlier this month, a high-profile Hamas delegation visited Cairo to continue talks that started in February regarding the situation in Gazoo and bilateral relations with Egypt.

Moscow says ready to cooperate with Pyongyang to resolve missile crisis
[Iran Press TV] Russia says it is ready to work with North Korea to try to find a peaceful resolution to the missile crisis on the Korean Peninsula.

The Russian Foreign Ministry made the announcement in a statement issued on Friday after a meeting between Russian ambassador-at-large Oleg Burmistrov and Choe Son-hui, director-general of the North American department of North Korea’s Foreign Ministry.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the North Korean official also met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov.

"The Russian side confirmed its readiness to combine efforts in the interests of finding ways to solve the problems in the region by peaceful, political and diplomatic means," the Kremlin said.

This Week in Guns, September 30th, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

From Hershel Smith comes an article on using the AR-15 in a home defense role. Any tool available is good for home defense. In a home setting, if you are lucky enough to get the first shot, you will (or should) be able to fire the last shot as well, if you use a modern semiautomatic rifle.

Under the rubric "The jokes just write themselves", and as a reprise, a professional anti gun nut presses his case against firearms suppressors. My own views on silencer themselves are well known and have been repeated wherever I can post.

ARs are loud, as are AK-74s. In the case of home defense, I'd rather suffer the noise in stopping a Bad Guy than to worry about how much of noise my firearm will make.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were mostly lower. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mostly higher. Prices for used rifles were mostly lower.

Looking at differences between ammunition prices at the end of the 2nd Quarter and the end of the 3rd Quarter (which ends today), ammunition prices seem to be following a slow downward trend. If historical tendencies are followed, by next month ammunition prices should slowly drop until the first of the year, before recovering. Last year at this time, however, was the first time since this column was begun that ammunition prices failed to recover following the first of the year, and stayed lower than they were at the start of autumn.

#5  I don't understand why reports of these attacks/phenomena contain so little information.

It does look like they're tiptoeing about something.

Detecting strong inaudible sound waves with proper equipment is trivial. A spectral analysis will reveal information about the nature of the phenomenon.
It should also be possible to get a bearing on the source and some estimate of the source's distance.

IOW US authorities should pretty much know exactly what they're dealing with and who's behind it.

Yes to all of the above. I once watched in near panic as a foreign student officer turned around to ask a question of the tower, with an M72 law armed and ready to fire sitting on his shoulder.

I'll bet that foreign student doesn't talk about that much either.

Syrian army captures key supply route in Deir Az Zor
[Al Jazeera] The Syrian army and its allies have repelled a strong attack by ISIS fighters to capture a road linking Palmyra to Deir Az Zor city, a major supply route from government territory to the eastern city, according to a military media unit run by Leb's Hezbollah.
Syria's war: UN told of air strikes against civilians and hospitals

The ISIS assault, which began on Thursday, marked the first major counter-attack against the allied forces since they broke through a swathe of territory to reach Deir Az Zor city earlier this month.

"The Syrian army and its allies completely secured the Deir az Zor-Palmyra highway after foiling the intense attack," the Hezbollah media unit said on Friday.

"The highway has become passable for traffic in both directions to and from Deir Az Zor," it added.

Hezbollah is one of the main allies of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
, alongside Russia, Iran and other pro-government militias.

Earlier on Friday, a commander in the military alliance backing Assad said the road linking Deir Az Zor to Palmyra was only being used in cases of absolute necessity and that the army and its allies were fighting to recover lost ground.

Helped by the Russian military and Iran-backed militias, the Syrian army's advance this month to Deir Az Zor lifted a three-year-long siege imposed by ISIS on a government-held enclave in the city.
Deadly ISIS attacks

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitor tracking developments in Syria's conflict, said the ISIS attacks had killed more than 58 fighters from the Syrian army and allied forces since Thursday.

ISIS said on Thursday it had killed around 100 government fighters south of the town of al-Sukhna, which is also located on the road to Deir Az Zor, and announced it had taken a hill overlooking the town.

A US-backed alliance of Syrian militias, the Syrian Democratic Forces, is waging a separate offensive against ISIS in Deir Az Zor to the east of the Euphrates River, which bisects the province.

Lockheed Martin hails 'hypersonic revolution' amid claims it has begun secret tests of Mach 6 SR-72 update to Blackbird spy plane
[DailyMail] Lockheed Martin's secretive Skunk Works
Best...division...name...ever...
unit is already testing a radical hypersonic update of the long-retired Mach 3 SR-71 Blackbird spy plane, it has been claimed.

According to Aviation Week, a technology demonstrator, believed to be an unmanned subscale aircraft, was observed flying into the U.S. Air Force's Plant 42 at Palmdale, where Skunk Works is headquartered, in July.

The SR-72 hypersonic plane will be a strike and reconnaissance aircraft that tops Mach 6, and the firm has been working on the project since the early 2000s.

[Scroll down for video]

Although I can't go into specifics, let us just say the Skunk Works team in Palmdale, California, is doubling down on our commitment to speed,' Orlando Carvalho, executive vice president of aeronautics at Lockheed Martin, told the SAE International Aerotech Congress and Exhibition.

'Simply put, I believe the United States is on the verge of a hypersonics revolution.'

Hypersonic technologies, including a combined cycle propulsion system that blends a rocket engine and a supersonic jet engine, are now sufficiently advanced to allow the planned SR-72 project to begin, it is believed.

'We've been saying hypersonics is two years away for the last 20 years, but all I can say is the technology is mature and we, along with Darpa and the services, are working hard to get that capability into the hands of our warfighters as soon as possible,' Rob Weis, Lockheed Martin's executive vice president and general manager for Advanced Development Programs, previously told Aviation Week.

'I can't give you any timelines or any specifics on the capabilities,' he said.
Which means it's already in Project Monitoring and Control Phase?

‘We stand for the Pledge,’ teacher tells 6-year-old who took a knee in class
[MIAMIHERALD] Eugenia McDowell told ABC News that the teacher sent her a text message on Monday, alerting her of her son’s protest and how she had admonished him. McDowell was not pleased with the response because she felt the admonishment in front of his classmates encroached on her son’s freedom of speech. McDowell passed the text along to ABC News.
Children are in school to learn. Freedom of speech doesn't apply to the little boogers.
The teacher’s message to McDowell read: “I knew where he had seen [kneeling], but I did tell him that in the classroom, we are learning what it means to be a good citizen, we’re learning about respecting the United States of America and our country symbols and showing loyalty and patriotism and that we stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.”
A six year old isn't old enough to have an opinion on the subject.
A spokesperson for the Pasco County School District told ABC that the teacher responded to the incident by mouthing, “We stand for the pledge” when she saw the boy kneeling. The district policy requires students to have written exemption from their parents if they don’t plan to take part in the pledge.

Substitute Teacher Kneels In Classroom During Pledge Of Allegiance

[BOSTON.CBSLOCAL] LITTLETON – The principal of a Littleton school said a substitute teacher had good intentions, but should not have taken a knee while her class recited the Pledge of Allegiance on Thursday.

Russell Street School Principal Scott Bazydlo said in a letter to parents that the unidentified substitute teacher took a knee and spoke to students about her political views.

Bazydlo said that Littleton Public Schools respects the rights of individuals to either participate or respectfully abstain from taking part in the Pledge of Allegiance.

But the principal also said it is “imperative” to provide students with all sides of an issue to allow them to “form opinions with guidance from parents.”

“While this topic is timely and does have educational merit, it should be addressed sensitively and age-appropriately by permanent faculty and inclusive of the beliefs of all children and families,” Bazydlo wrote to parents. “While well-intended, this conversation was not part of the classroom teacher’s plans and should not have taken place in the fashion it did.”

Pakistan to Give U.S. List of Terrorists Next Month
[OANN] Pakistain is going to provide a list of terrorist leaders to the U.S. delegation when they visit the capital Islamabad next month.

The Pak government is repeating its demand for action against all groups directly or indirectly involved in terrorist acts.

This comes after President Trump called out Pakistain last month for providing sanctuary and support for terrorist networks that have been killing Americans and Afghans.

The Mighty Pak Army will also inform the U.S. about its operations against terrorists, and they ask that the U.S. share available information as well.

The country says it will continue to defend its national security until the last name on the terror list has been eradicated.

FIA seeks capital punishment in Benazir case, says ATC passed verdict 'in a hurry'
[DAWN] The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday challenged the verdict of an anti-terrorism court in the Benazir Bhutto
... 11th Prime Minister of Pakistain in two non-consecutive terms from 1988 until 1990 and 1993 until 1996. She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. She was murdered in her turn by person or persons unknown while campaigning in late 2007. Suspects include, to note just a few, Baitullah Mehsud, General Pervez Musharraf, the ISI, al-Qaeda in Pakistain, and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who shows remarkably little curiosity about who done her in...
murder case, arguing that the two guilty coppers as well as the five men acquitted of all charges deserve capital punishment.

Last month, ATC had announced the verdict in the murder case, acquitting five Tehrik-e-Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
Pakistain (TTP) suspects ‐ Rafaqat Hussain, Husnain Gul, Sher Zaman, Rashid Ahmed and Aitzaz Shah ‐ and announcing 17-year imprisonment for two former police officials. The court had also declared retired Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
an absconder in the case.

The FIA moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the sentence through two separate petitions submitted on Friday.

The first one argues that the two convicted culprits were not punished under the terrorism charges which were part of the case.

The counsel for the agency also said that the ATC passed the verdict in a hurry without fulfilling legal requirements.

According to the petition, filed in the Rawalpindi registry of the LHC, the two coppers ‐ former City Police Officer Saood Aziz and former Superintendent Police Khurrum Shahzad ‐ were sentenced under only two clauses each, whereas several other clauses, including terrorism, were also part of the case.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Liberal Oppo Group Behind False Claim That Jared Kushner Registered To Vote As A Woman
[DAILYCALLER] White House adviser Jared Kushner did not register to vote in his hometown New York City as a female, contrary to breathless reporting on the subject this week.

The idea that Kushner, the son-in-law of President Trump, registered as a woman first came from American Bridge, a Democratic opposition research group founded by activist David Brock.

Citing information provided by American Bridge, the magazine Wired reported on Wednesday that Kushner registered to vote in 2009 as a female.

The story gained traction because Kushner has been involved in a series of paperwork mixups during his short tenure in the White House and also because the Trump administration has led a push against voter fraud.

The former real estate executive has had to correct filings he’s submitted for security clearances on several occasions. The voter registration snafu was cited as the latest in a string of embarrassing errors.

"Kushner can’t even fill out the most basic paperwork without screwing it up, so it’s a mystery why anyone thinks he’s somehow going to bring peace to the Middle East," American Bridge front man Brad Bainum told Wired.

"Would anyone but the president’s son-in-law still have a West Wing job after repeated disclosure errors and a botched a security clearance form?" he continued.

But The New York Daily News threw cold water on the story and the numerous reports that circulated it across the web.

The newspaper obtained a copy of Kushner’s voter registration paperwork from Sept. 1, 2011 which clearly shows that Kushner checked the "Male" box on the form.

American Bridge and Wired relied on an entry in Nexis, a public records database used by news hounds, attorneys and Sherlocks. The entry for Kushner’s 2009 voter registration in New York lists him as "female."

While Nexis is generally reliable, its databases are known to sometimes list incorrect addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and other personal information. Reporters typically use the database for background research purposes.

Saudi man arrested for threatening to attack and 'burn' women drivers
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] A Saudi man was placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
for allegedly threatening to attack women drivers, the Interior Ministry said on Friday, following a royal decree that ends a ban on women driving in the kingdom.

Many Saudis welcomed Tuesday's announcement by King Salman

lifting the ban by next year, but some expressed confusion or outrage after the reversal of a policy that has been backed for decades by prominent holy mans.

The ministry said on Twitter that police in the kingdom's Eastern Province had arrested the suspect, who was not identified, and referred him to the public prosecutor.

[DAWN] A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team on Friday was unable to deliver arrest warrants issued against the Sharif children ‐ Hassan, Hussain and Maryam ‐ at their Jati Umra residence.

The presiding judge, Mohammad Bashir, had asked NAB to ensure that the warrants were received, but the NAB team could not find anyone at the residence on Friday to acknowledge their receipt.

The NAB team, headed by Deputy Director Mehboob Alam and comprising Deputy Director Mohammad Kamran and Investigating Officer Imran Dogar, was also met with resistance from the security staff present at the residence, sources in NAB said.

NA body protests 'IB list' of lawmakers allegedly in touch with banned outfits
[DAWN] Members of an NA committee on Friday protested against a list allegedly issued by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) which is said to contain the names of over 37 politicians suspected of having links with banned terrorist and sectarian outfits.

The list first came to light when a private television channel aired a report claiming that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
had directed the IB on July 10 ‐ three weeks before his disqualification ‐ to keep watch on the listed politicians, mostly belonging to the PML-N.

The issue was raised during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi earlier this week.

A number of ministers whose names were on the "fabricated" list claimed that the report sought to damage their reputations and called for strict action to be taken against the "plotters", as the IB had denied receiving any such directives from the Prime Minister’s Office or possessing any such list.

The list contained the names of a number of key ministers ‐ including Riaz Pirzada, Zahid Hamid, Baleeghur Rehman, Sikandar Bosan and Hafiz Abdul Kareem, as well as National Assembly Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi and a handful of senators.

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bandidos Lions of Islam have been killed by Iraqi joint troops within the second phase of offensive launched in southwest of Kirkuk.

A statement by Lt. Gen. Shaker Jawdat, Federal Police chief, said "troops along with Rapid Response forces and al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) managed to regain control on 70 square kilometers in west of Hawija, liberate 23 villages and regions, kill 144 bully boys, destroy 45 booby-trapped vehicles and evacuate 150 displaced families during the second operation of Hawija offensive."

Earlier on the day, Lt.Gen. Abdul Amir Yaralla, commander of Hawija Operations, announced killing of 96 bully boys, destroying 13 vehicles in Arclight airstrikes in Hawija.

A statement by the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell, Yaralla said, "Iraqi jets launched several Arclight airstrikes targeting the group’s locations in Hawija."

"The Arclight airstrikes left 96 bandidos Lions of Islam and 13 vehicles destroyed," he added.

Joint troops managed to free 11 villages in Hawija, Yaralla previously said on the day.

Early on Friday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and the Joint Operations Command announced beginning of the second phase of Hawija offensive.

According to Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell, 557 IS bandidos Lions of Islam were killed, while more than 100 villages and regions were liberated during the first phase, which launched earlier this month and was concluded on Sunday.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel observes Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year
[Ynet] Israel Police, Border Police and IDF forces are deployed throughout the country to prevent recent volatilities from impeding on the religious observance of the country's citizens.

Israel's security forces were on high alert Friday ahead of Yom Kippur‐the Jewish holiday of atonement and repentance.

Following the attack this week in Har Adar and fearing further hostilities, the IDF will maintain increased presence in the West Bank, with a general blockade imposed on the territories and on the Gazoo Strip until 12:01am Sunday.

Exceptions will be made for humanitarian, medical and other outstanding cases, pending the approval of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.

In addition, Paleostinian workers will not be allowed to enter Israeli communities in the West Bank for as long as the closure is in effect.

Police forces will be deployed throughout the country to ensure the safety of the general public during this holy day.

Among other things, there will be increased patrols, with an emphasis on seam areas between Jewish and Arab neighborhoods, as well as increased police and Border Police activity near the holy places and crowded plazas.

The police will also reinforce the patrols at various population centers to maintain public order and provide an immediate and available response to any security or criminal situation.

Israel Police and Border Police reinforcements and volunteers have been deployed throughout Jerusalem since Thursday afternoon and will remain throughout Yom Kippur to maintain public order and secure the thousands of Jews expected to reach the Western Wall plaza to pray.

Prior to the holiday, the police set up checkpoints on the main roads to prevent the movement of vehicles from east Jerusalem neighborhoods to the west of the city.

Police and Border Police will be stationed near the checkpoints to prevent their removal and will be deployed in the area to prevent stone throwing and other disturbances.
The Times of Israel adds:
All flights in and out of Ben Gurion airport ceased at 1:35 p.m., while public transport gradually halted with buses and trains stopping their routes until after the fast day.

As sundown approached all local radio and television broadcasts gradually fell silent.

For the Magen David Adom Rescue service, Yom Kippur is one of the busiest days of the year with hundreds of extra medics, paramedics, ambulances and volunteers deployed across the country.

Most injuries over Yom Kippur come from accidents on the roads as tens of thousands of children and teens take advantage of the deserted streets to ride their bicycles. Other common Yom Kippur injuries are caused by parents leaving children unattended outside synagogues and, of course, dehydration and complications from fasting.

However, the weather this year is expected to be relatively mild, with even some light rain expected in the north.

The closure is a routine procedure during Israeli and Jewish holidays.

Julian Assange Says He Will Provide Evidence Russia Narrative Is False in Exchange for Pardon
[PJMEDIA] WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has offered to provide evidence that the Russian collusion narrative is false in exchange for a pardon from President Trump.

The president, apparently, has not yet gotten the message. On Saturday, President Trump told news hounds that he has "never heard" of Assange's offer to make a deal.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher

(R-Calif.) told The Daily Caller that Trump is being blocked from knowing about the potential deal with Assange. "I think the president’s answer indicates that there is a wall around him that is being created by people who do not want to expose this fraud that there was collusion between our intelligence community and the leaders of the Democratic Party," Rohrabacher said.

Nicholas Kristof Repeats North Korean Propaganda on Social Media

Kristof wrote on Instagram that "every kid" at a high school in North Korea "supposedly signed up to join the army after the Trump speech to the U.N," referring to Trump's address on Sept. 19 when he said the U.S. will "totally destroy North Korea" if forced to defend itself or its allies.

"They said they'll keep studying until war breaks out, which some say could happen any time," Kristof continued. "It's all part of a mass ideological mobilization‐yet here the kids are still practicing their singing. At a factory, the manager likewise told me that all 1,500 employees had signed up for the army in Monday, yet they were still at work."

Officers used excessive force after I punched my lawyer in face, killer claims
[NJ] TRENTON - A man sentenced to 70 years in prison for murder has filed a lawsuit accusing Mercer County sheriff's officers of using excessive force when subduing him after he punched his defense attorney in the face during a court hearing.

Randy Washington, 36, was recently sentenced earlier this month to 70 years in prison for killing Silas Johnson in 2014 under a Route 1 overpass.

In the lawsuit filed three days before he was sentenced, Washington admits to punching his now-former attorney in the face in June, but claims he made no other threatening movements towards her.

"I hit my attorney, but when I hit her, I did not advance toward her, I just waited for the sheriff to come handcuff me," Washington wrote in the suit.

The incident happened just after closing arguments in the trial ended and the jury was dismissed for deliberations.

He claims that the sheriff's officers tackled him onto a table and later slammed him to the ground. One of the officer's knees came down on his wrist, breaking his hand, he alleges in the lawsuit.

Washington claims that once back at the jail, officers refused to send him to the hospital after telling the officers his hand was broken.

On July 6, a week after the incident, an X-ray revealed it was broken. He had a second X-ray on July 25, and had surgery Aug. 7, according to the lawsuit.

Washington claims that he received no medical treatment from the jail between July 6 and July 25, after the break in his hand was originally discovered.

Washington is seeking $1 million in compensation.

In addition to Johnson's killing, Washington is also accused of the July 2014 killing of George Jamison, 43, at a Trenton bus stop.

The Jamison killing, for which Washington has yet to be tried, sparked a four-month crime spree in which Washington committed several armed robberies before he was jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!

a number of Paleostinian suspects early Friday who attempted to set a bomb on a road near the West Bank settlement of Migdal Oz, the army said.

There was no word on the number of men arrested during the ambush operation south of Bethlehem.

Elsewhere in the West Bank troops arrested nine Paleostinian suspects wanted for questioning in various investigations.

Security forces were on heightened alert ahead of the holy day of Yom Kippur, which begins on Friday evening, with a boosted army and police presence in Jerusalem and East Jerusalem to prevent friction and violence in the city over the weekend.

Former minister Gazeen Marri detained in Quetta jail under MPO
[DAWN] After an Anti-terrorism court in Sibi granted bail to Nawabzada Gazeen Marri, the son of Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri in a 2004 murder case on Friday, Quetta district administration detained him under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order.

According to a blurb issued by the Quetta deputy commissioner, Marri was shifted to district jail Quetta amid tight security under the MPO.

Section 3 of the MPO states: "The government, if satisfied that with a view to preventing any person from acting in any manner prejudicial to public safety or the maintenance of public order, may by an order in writing direct his arrest and detention."

Earlier today, ATC judge Muhammad Rafiq Langove granted bail to the former home minister in connection with a murder case registered against Marri in 2004 at the Manjara levies station Kohlu, and asked him to submit surety bonds worth Rs0.4 million.

A landmine blast in Kohlu's Mavand tehsil in June 2004 had killed civilians. Subsequently, the Levies had registered murder and terrorism cases against Gazeen Marri.
