Alexander 'Sasha' Chechik takes last 'hand grenade' selfie
[Independent] A Russian man has died after he pulled the pin out of a hand grenade and posted photographs of himself holding it.

Alexander 'Sasha' Chechik was killed instantly in the incident in the city of Labinsk in south west Russia, police said.

According to local news outlet Kuban.kp.ru, the man had sent a text to a friend, including a picture of the grenade in his hand with the pin pulled from the device lying nearby.

In the text exchange, the man’s friend asks him where he is and if everything is ok.

“It depends by what you mean ‘OK’,” he replied, posting the photograph of the grenade.

“Listen, don’t f*** around,” his friend then replied before following it up with: “Where are you,” to which they received no response.

#2  The "Today" show and Lauer were most popular; cornerstone of the program for two decades.

Someone else must not like Lauer and NBC. The network MSM viewership has been diminishing for years, probably because of a lack of trust and being left-wing agenda-driven. In a nutshell, they have been dishing up fake news and people are on to them. Moreover, talking heads like Lauer, Rose and others are very high-priced. Lauer was reported to make $25 mil annually. Maybe his behavior was inappropriate. Maybe this was also an opportunity to dump an over-priced prima donna. Perhaps a chance for NBC to get rid of a behavioral problem and improve the bottom line at the same time. Maybe a part of the swamp or sewer draining.

Pro-Palestinian pretense
h/t Gates of Vienna
[IsraelNationalNews] I have never met anyone who really gives a genuine damn about Palestinian Arabs unless it is linked with an umbilical cord to hatred of Israel.

The two are so welded together that you have to think what came first - the Palestinian chicken or the Israeli egg.

Those that adopt a Palestinian cause use it as a club to beat Israel. Show me anyone who loves the Palestinian Arabs without hating Israel.

Their professed love of Palestinians is selective. They only love them if Israel is lurking somewhere in their narrative.

Egypt's Al-Sisi a Big Disappointment to Coptic Christians
h/t Instapundit
When Egyptian general Al-Sisi ousted the Muslim Brotherhood from power, many in the West celebrated his coup. The Muslim Brotherhood's leader, Mohammed Morsi, had been an extremist intent on "cleansing" his country of Egypt's Christians, known as Copts.

However, since becoming president, Al-Sisi has done little to nothing to protect the Copts. In fact, under his rule, more churches have been closed down than ever before. Christians are regularly targeted by Islamist extremist terrorists, and Copts generally feel that they may not have a future in their country.
For some reason, all this search for Muslim allies reminds me of The Great White Hope story

Almost Every Graduate Of DC High School Was Truant, Yet All Of Them Were Accepted To College
[Daily Caller] The majority of graduating students at a Washington, D.C. high school did not attend more than six weeks of high school, but still managed to get into college, an investigation into the students’ records found.

NPR and WAMU looked into the seniors who graduated from Ballou High School in 2017, a school located in a poverty stricken area of the nation’s capital, to see how much school the graduating students missed. Ballou High School was previously heavily praised for all students in its senior class getting into college.

Almost half of the graduates had unexcused absences that totaled to more than three months of missed school, documents obtained by NPR and WAMU reveal. About 20 percent of the high school graduates were absent more times than they were present for classes, emails and records also show.

The District of Columbia Public Schools system policy states that students who misses a class more than 30 times should fail that class, according to WAMU.

Despite these absences, all of the 2017 seniors got into a college, a feat for which the school received high praise. One student said the class-wide acceptance was a repudiation of all those who said the school ‐ where at one point only 3 percent of students met the reading standards ‐ couldn’t do it.

"Everybody just, they was betting on us failing, and we all came together and we graduated," said student Me’Ashja Hamilton.

Some teachers who spoke to the outlet said they felt they had to graduate failing students due to pressure from the high school administration. Other teachers said the lack of expectations allowed students to do what they wanted and not show up for class.

I'm concerned about the money being squandered on all of this but the real tragedy here is high school teaches them absolutely nothing that they can use to get real, productive jobs. High school only wastes their time and now they're being encouraged to waste four more years in college where they will also be taught nothing that they can use to get real, productive jobs.

Suspect to be charged with murder in four Tampa killings
[NBC] Police in Tampa, Florida, said Tuesday night that they plan to charge a man who was detained at a McDonald's with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with a series of shooting deaths that authorities had said could be the work of a serial killer.

Acting on a tip about someone with a gun, officers found the man, identified as Howell E. Donaldson III, 24, at the McDonald's in Tampa's Ybor City neighborhood, Police Chief Brian Dugan told reporters.

Dugan gave no further information about Donaldson, including his hometown, saying charging documents were still being drafted. But he said he believed Donaldson may have worked at the restaurant at some point.

Florida records indicated that Donaldson has no criminal past beyond a handful of traffic citations.

"Tonight, goodness has won," Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said. "Tonight in the battle between darkness and light, light has won."

Arabia
Djibouti hails Saudi military presence
[PRESSTV] Djibouti’s Defense Minister Ali Bahdon has welcomed the establishment of a Saudi military base on the soil of the African country, saying Djibouti-Riyadh relations are not confined to military cooperation.

In an interview with the Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq al-Awsat, the transcript of which was published in the UK-based daily on Tuesday, Bahdon said that Saudi experts had already arrived in Djibouti to assess military cooperation.

"The sides have signed a military agreement [in April]... If the base is constructed, it will become a part of the military cooperation between the two nations, and we welcome its creation," he said, adding that trainees and students from Djibouti were studying in military colleges in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Bahdon further said the facility would contribute to the military cooperation between the two countries, noting that the bilateral relations exceeded military cooperation to reach historical, ideological and cultural ties.

"There are historical, ideological and cultural relations with the kingdom, and we are one people who share the same values, and we have the same issues and problems; relations are much greater now, as we are in a new phase of geopolitical changes in the region," Bahdon went on to say.

According to the minister, the base would not be a solution to the problem of smuggling across the sea, as "it has limits in which it operates and powers that serve specific goals."

Late last year, Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf announced that his country would welcome the Saudi proposal of setting up a military base in the African country, saying Saudi military authorities had made several investigative trips to his country for the establishment of a facility there.

Egypt’s years-long military campaign against a jihadist insurgency in the north of the Sinai Peninsula is under increasing scrutiny following a devastating mosque attack last week. More than 300 people were killed in Friday’s bomb and gun assault ‐ the deadliest in the country’s recent history ‐ highlighting the myrmidons’ ability to carry out spectacular attacks despite the deployment of tens of thousands of troops.

Saudi Arabia detentions: Prince Miteb bin Abdullah released
[BBC] Saudi Prince Miteb bin Abdullah has been released more than three weeks after he was detained on allegations of corruption, officials say.

Prince Miteb, once seen as a contender to the throne, was freed after agreeing an "acceptable settlement" with authorities of more than $1bn (£750m).

He is one of more than 200 political and business figures detained in anti-corruption raids on 4 November.

Three other people have also reached settlements with the Saudi government.

"Yes, Prince Miteb was released this morning [Tuesday]," a source close to the government told the Agence La Belle France-Presse news agency.

Afghanistan
200+ schools in Herat controlled by Taliban
The Taliban controls at least 200 schools in insecure districts in Herat, local officials said on Tuesday.

Chairman of the Herat education department Ahmad Razaq Ahmadi has confirmed the report and said he is satisfied with the monitoring of these schools by the Taliban in their strongholds.

Responding to Ahmadi’s remarks about the Taliban, a number of civil society activists and members of the Herat provincial council have spoken out about his stance and said the issue is indicative of government’s failures.

According to Ahmadi, the department of education is unable to monitor schools in Shindand, Geran, Kashak Kohna, Adraskan and Oba districts of Herat due to the high level of security threats.

“In areas where there are security threats, the Taliban undertakes the monitoring, our employees can not undertake monitoring of these schools, therefore the Taliban are monitoring the schools in areas under their control,” said Ahmadi.

Ahmadi said he is satisfied with the monitoring of these schools by the Taliban.

“We are happy with the monitoring by the Taliban, because at least they monitor the schools, for instance, the information which we have from the people in Kashak Kohna district, the Taliban monitor the schools and they control tensions at schools; we are very happy with this work of the Taliban,” added Ahmadi.

But, his comments sparked a major backlash by civil society activists and members of the Herat provincial council.

“The issue that the education department says they are happy about the monitoring by the Taliban, that he (Ahmadi) talks about it in such detail is not acceptable; because the monitoring process needs to be conducted on the basis of principles and regulations (by the education department), because if armed opponents undertake the job of the government, this is totally unlawful,” said Sayed Azim Kibrzani, a member of Herat’s provincial council.

“Monitoring of the Taliban at schools indicates that government and local officials in Herat are very weak and the Taliban is strong, therefore government needs to tackle the issue very seriously,” said civil society activist Jawad Ameed.

Statistics from Herat department of education shows that of the total number of schools - 969 - 750 of them are controlled by the education department, but another 219 schools are controlled by the Taliban.

A military source said that the Syrian army units, in cooperation with the allied forces, on Tuesday regained control over al-Quriyeh town on al-Mayadeen-al-Boukamal direction in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The source added that the army units carried out intensive operation against ISIL terrorists, leaving a number of them dead and destroying their equipment.

According to the source, the army units continue chasing the terrorists’ remnants while the engineering units are dismantling the mines and explosives planted by terrorists in the town’s streets and squares.

Damascus Countryside
Army and Armed Forces units carried out a military operation against gatherings of al-Nusra Front terrorists in the surroundings of Bardaia strategic hill in the southwestern part of Damascus Countryside.

SANA’s reporter in Damascus countryside said that the army units launched the operations in cooperation with the popular defense groups, establishing control over the eastern chain of the strategic hill of Bardaia to the southwest of Kafar Hor village after killing many al-Nusra terrorists and destroying their weapons and ammo.

The reporter added that an army unit is continuing special operations against the remaining al-Nusra terrorists to establish full control over Bardaia hill which surrounds Beit Jin farm, the largest gathering for the al-Nusra in the Western Gouta area.

The reporter said that al-Nusra terrorists targeted with artillery shells Tel al-Shaar in the eastern countryside of Quneitra in an attempt to reduce the pressure on the terrorists of Beit Jin farm.

ISIS Bad Guys flee hideouts in Diyala and Salahuddin
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) A local official from Diyala province has said Islamic State members left their hideouts in the region on borders with Salahuddin province and are likely drawing plans.

“Islamic State has been silent in Mutaibija. Most of the militants were hiding at underground rest houses and hideouts. The situation has been very calm for weeks,” Mohamed Daifan al-Ebeidi, head of Udhaim provincial council, told AlSumaria News on Monday.

“The situation in Mutaibija changed over the past 24 hours. There has been an activity that started to show up as IS members began getting out of their underground hideouts,” he said. “Maybe the group tries to do something at any time, which urged the security forces to be on high alert.”

“It’s time to end Islamic State’s presence in Mutaibija, which is a security challenge not for Diyala only but Salahuddin and Kirkuk also,” he added.

Mass grave of Yazidi victims of ISIS discovered
[ALMASDARNEWS] The remains of 340 Yazidis who were massacred by ISIS have been discovered in a mass grave nearby djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
. The grisly discovery was made by Iraqi troops in the ancient Assyrian city of Nineveh in northern Iraq.

"The mass grave contains the bodies of 340 people and is located in al-Ba’aj town, which was under control of Isis terrorists," Brigadier General Mohammed al-Shemari stated.

The area of Nineveh and the Iraqi province of the same name are still under the process of being secured by Iraqi armed forces, after it was fully liberated from ISIS control in July, after months of heavy fighting.

The mass grave is estimated to date back to 2014, when the terrorist group first gained control over significant portions of northern Iraq in a blitz offensive. The over three hundred bodies are thought to belong to men, women and even children who were executed by ISIS.

Ahmed Abu Khatallah cleared of murder over 2012 attack
[Al Jazeera] A federal jury in the United States has cleared a Libyan man of the most serious charges in connection with a deadly attack on a US diplomatic compound in Libya's Benghazi five years ago.

Ahmed Abu Khatallah was accused of orchestrating the September 11, 2012 attack that killed Christopher Stevens, the US ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans.

On Tuesday, he was acquitted of murder but convicted on lesser terrorism-related charges.

Al Jazeera's Shihab Rattansi, reporting from Washington, DC, said Khatallah had overall been charged with 18 counts but was cleared of all but four of those, including "providing material support for terrorism".

Yet, he still faces 45 years in prison if he is given the maximum sentence for each of those four convictions, Rattansi noted.

"The prosecution had presented him as a ringleader for the attack, the defence though had said he was simply a bystander who appeared on the scene ... after the attack had taken place," said Rattansi, adding that this was a point that the prosecution "did have to concede".

"The defence also tried to poke holes in the prosecution's argument by saying that its star witness was paid $7m for his testimony," he added.

"In addition, they raised questions about the manner which Khatallah was interrogated - he was seized and then kept on a boat at sea for two weeks and interrogated without a lawyer, according to the defence."

Political storm
Khatallah has been awaiting trial since 2014 when he was captured by a team of US military and FBI officials in Libya and transported on a 13-day journey to the US aboard a navy vessel.

Before his capture, he was part of a revolutionary gang aimed at overthrowing Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
's government.

Stevens was killed in the attack along with Sean Patrick Smith, a state department information management officer.

Nearly eight hours later, at a CIA complex nearby, two more Americans, contract security officers, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, died in a mortar attack.

The Benghazi attack stirred up a political storm in the US, where Republicans repeatedly accused Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
, the then-secretary of state, of failing to adequately protect the diplomatic compound.

Police also tossed in the clink

Syrian government accepts terms for a ceasefire in the East Ghouta
[ALMASDARNEWS] The UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said he was informed that Russia and the Syrian government had agreed to a ceasefire in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta.

He was speaking to journalists ahead of the latest round of Syrian peace talks in Geneva on Tuesday.

"We are, and were, very concerned about it," he said.

"Now we need to see whether it is a safe place, but it is not coincidental that is has actually been proposed and agreed upon just the day of the beginning of this session," he added.

The talks, which are mediated by the UN, began in confusion earlier in the morning.

Negotiations were due to start on November 28, but Bashar-al-Assad’s government only confirmed their participation the day before. Representatives of the Syrian government are now expected to arrive on Wednesday.

Vacancy at Chinese Political Work Dept., General Zhang Yang ends it all
[CNN] Beijing A top Chinese general hanged himself after coming under investigation for corruption charges, China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported Tuesday.

General Zhang Yang, the former head of the Chinese military's political work department, was found dead at his home on November 23, the news agency said.

Military investigators had launched an investigation into Zhang's ties to two former Central Military Commission vice chairmen -- Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou -- who fell prey to President Xi Jinping's massive anti-corruption campaign.

Xinhua said investigators found Zhang had seriously violated party discipline and broke the law by allegedly giving and accepting bribes as well as possessing a huge amount of money, the sources of which he could not account for.

He was allowed to stay at home during the early stages of the investigation, the report said.

Zhang was a member of the Central Military Commission, which runs the two-million strong People's Liberation Army.

More than 1.4 million people have been punished under Xi's anti-corruption campaign since 2012, according to state media, including around 300 senior officials.

In a scathing commentary published by the People's Liberation Army Daily Tuesday, the paper said he "wanted to evade punishment by party discipline and state law by committing suicide -- such behavior was extremely despicable."

US warns South Sudan to end its nearly four-year war
[PRESSTV] The US government has threatened to take unspecified measures against South Sudan unless it moves to end the nearly four-year war and stop harassing United Nations

US Ambassador Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
on Tuesday put the responsibility squarely on South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir to take action, telling the UN Security Council that "words are no longer sufficient."

"The United States is prepared to pursue additional measures against the government - or any party, for that matter - if they do not act to end the violence and ease the suffering in South Sudan," Haley said.

"Going forward the United States will judge President Kiir and his government by their actions, not their words," she said.

Last year, Washington unsuccessfully pushed for an arms embargo on South Sudan and international sanctions on bigwigs.

Haley said Kiir must uphold ceasefires, join a new regional peace initiative, stop placing restrictions on UN peacekeepers and allow access for aid groups.

A report released Tuesday by UN monitors accused South Sudan’s government of using food aid as a weapon of war during its campaign against opposition forces in the northwestern city of Wau.

After aid finally reached civilians in August, the first time in a year, humanitarian workers "witnessed significantly high levels of malnutrition, with high rates of severe acute malnutrition," the report said.

Mike Bloomberg Funds Global Warming Conference Trump Stopped Funding
[DAILYCALLER] Former New York Mayor Michael Nanny Bloomberg’s multi-billion-dollar climate change foundation is replacing the EPA as the primary sponsor for a major global warming conference in Colorado.
That's fine, as long as it's his own money.
The more he wastes on things like this, the less he’ll have to spend where it actually matters. But according to Keynes, it all benefits the economy anyway, so he should be happy about making President Trump look better.
The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and The Climate Registry announced Tuesday that the Bloomberg Philanthropies will sponsor the Climate Leadership Conference. The move is designed to fill the void left after the EPA discontinued sponsoring the conference in 2017.

Bloomberg, a New York billionaire and staunch environmentalists, has crusaded for months against President Donald Trump’s climate policies. He has dumped millions of dollars on grants to organizations that are working to undermine the president’s regulation rollbacks.

Temporary restraining order to stop Trump's pick for CFPB is denied
[FOXNEWS] In a victory for the Trump White House, a temporary restraining order to halt the president's pick for acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Mick Mulvaney, was denied by a judge late Tuesday though the decision is likely to be appealed.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ruled in favor of Trump in his effort to appoint White House budget director Mulvaney to lead the bureau, the nation's top financial watchdog agency.

"Denying the president’s authority to appoint Mr. Mulvaney raises significant constitutional questions," Kelly, a Trump nominee for the bench, said.

The ruling comes after a nasty partisan spat that pitted the Trump administration against an Obama-era holdover.

Leandra English was elevated to acting deputy director Friday when Richard Cordray resigned. The fight for control bled into the weekend and on Sunday, English filed an emergency restraining order to keep Mulvaney out.

What will Mulvaney find? Why did Cordray 'retire' suddenly when he still had eight months left on his term? Did he collect enough illegitimate money and decided he had enough to retire on after spending time hiding the money?

Keith Olbermann: 'I am retiring from political commentary'
[THEHILL] GQ special correspondent Keith Olbermann announced Monday that he is "retiring from political commentary in all media venues" during his online program "The Resistance."

The former ESPN, MSNBC, Current TV and Fox Sports host said he was "confident" President Trump's presidency would end soon, thereby making it the "correct moment" to exit from making further political commentary.

"I am confident now even more so than I have been throughout the last year that this nightmare presidency of Donald John Trump will end prematurely and end soon, and I am thus also confident that this is the correct moment to end this series of commentaries," Olbermann said, adding that Trump will either be removed from office or forced to resign by his own party sometime in the next 13 months.

The 58-year-old progressive provocateur insisted to his viewers that he wasn't being fired and was in good health.

"No illness. No scandal. No firing. Just I've said what I've had to say," Olbermann said. "It was as obvious as I made it seem. I give my work everything I can, so it's not like I can dial it back."

"I am retiring from political commentary in all media venues," he concluded. "Thank you for all the kind words and all the support. Have fun storming the castle. My work here is done. Matter of fact, so is Trump's."

Luis Gutierrez retiring from Congress to help Puerto Rico rebuild
More on this story from yesterday.
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., announced Tuesday afternoon that he will not seek re-election in 2018 because he wants to help Puerto Rico recover from two disastrous hurricanes.

"I cannot be here in the 4th congressional district and be rebuilding the home of my mom and my dad," Gutierrez said about Puerto Rico. "The place that I love so much ‐ and I'm gonna work really hard until she's completely built to 21st century standards, but I can't do them both."

"I'm not going to run for reelection, but I'm also throwing my support behind Jesus [Chuy] Garcia, to run for the office of representative for the 4th District," Gutierrez added. "I want to make absolutely clear that I'd be a candidate in the congressional district if Jesus Garcia had not volunteered to run."

Egypt military court sentences 11 Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis members to death: Lawyer
[AlAhram] An Egyptian military court issued a preliminary death sentence on Tuesday against 11 members of the Ansar Beit al-Maqdis terrorist group who were convicted of involvement in a series of attacks committed in 2014 and 2015, including the 2015 bombing of the Italian consulate in Cairo, their lawyer said.

The court is set to issue its final verdict on 20 December, after the preliminary death sentence is referred to the Grand Mufti, whose opinion is legally required but not binding. The December verdict can be appealed.

Defence lawyer Khaled al-Masry told Ahram Online that the case involves 155 defendants ‐ around half of whom are runaways ‐ being tried for involvement in 12 different terrorist attacks, including bombings in Egypt's North Sinai.

The court is set to issue sentences for the remaining defendants at the 20 December court session.

Only three of those sentenced on Tuesday are in jug, with the rest sentenced in absentia. The runaways include Hisham Ali Ashmawy, a former Egyptian special forces officer-turned-militant.

The North Sinai-based Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, which is affiliated with the terrorist group ISIS, has grabbed credit for some of the most deadly attacks targeting police and military personnel since 2013.

N Korea building up military to avoid fate of Libya, Iraq: Writer
[PRESSTV] North Korea is building up a formidable military in order to avoid the fate of Libya and Iraq, an American writer and retired professor says.

James Petras, who has written dozens of books on international issues, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Tuesday while commenting on US threats against North Korea.

Next week, the US state of Hawaii is resuming monthly statewide testing of its Cold War-era nuclear attack warning sirens for the first time in almost three decades citing a threat of war between the US and North Korea.

Emergency management officials in Hawaii said on Monday the state is restarting the practice in preparation for a potential nuclear missile attack from North Korea, Rooters reported.

"It’s very clear that the US has taken a very aggressive position towards an essentially defensive posture adopted by the North Korean government, including its development of nuclear power," Professor Petras said.

"But I think it’s very clear that North Koreans are also interested in negotiating some kind of permanent peace treaty, and that’s been on their agenda for many, many years. And Washington has at times entered into negotiations but failed on the fundamental issue of ending sanctions and beginning a process of accommodation," he added.

"I think the US at this point has increased its military threats, and both naval, air and ground forces around North Korea to impose sanctions, and has not at all accepted ongoing negotiations that China and Russia have urged," he stated.

"I think it’s very dangerous because the US government at this time led by President Trump has made North Korea the centerpiece of a global conflict. And North Korea will not back down. It realizes that giving up its capacity for retaliation it will suffer the fate of Iraq and Libya," the analyst noted.

"So I think given the precedent of recent history where the countries which have not appropriate military capacity to resist are inviting attacks," he said.

"So I think we have to go back and reconsider the conditions of co-existence, and that begins by organizing negotiations and not increasing the military threats which provoke North Korea to look at a counterattack or counter-response," he observed.

"And this of course has escalated, and this is very dangerous at this time," concluded the scholar.

Iraq’s ex-Kirkuk governor flees to US with millions of petrodollars
[PRESSTV] The former governor of Iraq’s northern oil-rich province of Kirkuk and a staunch supporter of the Kurdish independence referendum has reportedly fled to the United States with millions of petrodollars.

Ali al-Husseini, a front man for the Popular Mobilization Units ‐ commonly known by the Arabic word Hashd al-Sha’abi, said on Tuesday that Najmiddin Karim was receiving 10 million dollars from the president of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Massoud Barzani
... hereditary head of the Kurdish Democratic Party, maybe a little too close to the Medes and the Persians for most people's tastes. After the defeat of Daesh he pushed through the Kurdish independence referendum, which caused the Iraqs to turn on him. Resigned in November, 2017...
, over petroleum smuggling, Arabic-language Babil24 news website reported.

He added that there is substantial evidence that Karim has left Iraq through Erbil, which is the capital city of Kurdistan region and located approximately 350 kilometers (220 miles) north of Baghdad.

Husseini noted that all Kurdish leader well knew about Karim’s misconduct, and the fact that he was being paid by Barzani over oil smuggling from Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
but kept mum.

The Hashd al-Sha’abi front man added that Kurdish officials must file a lawsuit against the former Kirkuk governor and Barzani so that they would stand trial for stolen funds.

On September 14, the Iraqi parliament voted to dismiss Karim after the provincial council voted to take part in the Kurdish independence referendum irrespective of the central government’s strong opposition to the secession bid.

Earlier in the day, the office of Iraqi parliament speaker Salim al-Jabouri announced in a statement that it had received a request from the office of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi demanding a voting session to discharge 68-year-old Karim.

Ayatollah Khamenei calls for expansion of Iran naval power
[ALMASDARNEWS] Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the Iranian Supreme Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
, has praised Iran’s continued achievements in the field of naval defence, and called for a continued expansion of the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s naval power and capacities.

Khamenei made the comments during a meeting with Navy commanders and personnel on Tuesday, in celebration of National Navy Day.

The Ayatollah stated that the Navy is on the frontline of defending the Islamic Theocratic Republic, and as such its combat readiness and military equipment must continually be updated and improved. In his words, Iran’s maritime capabilities were "today far more advanced and capable than 20 years ago, but this level of progress is not satisfactory." He continued by urging for further improvement in all sectors "with high determination and morale."

The statements by the Supreme Leader come after Monday’s announcement by Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi, the Navy’s commander, that the Iranian naval force is self-sufficient in manufacturing surface vessels and submarines. Khanzadi also announced that a new missile warship named Separ is due to be unveiled the coming days, adding that this ship would be faster and more advanced than its predecessors.

Calls by Sinai tribes to join Armed Forces in war on terrorism stirs debate in Egypt
[AlAhram] The tribes of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula have asked to be allowed to fight against terrorism alongside the Egyptian army after the Friday terrorist attack on al-Rawda Mosque in North Sinai that killed 305 worshippers and injured 128 during Friday prayers.

Eyewitnesses said the attack, the deadliest in Egypt’s recent memory, was carried out by 25 to 30 button men brandishing the flag of the terrorist group ISIS, according to the prosecutor-general.

The call by Sinai tribes to fight alongside the army against turbans has been met with controversy, with some praising the move and others voicing concerns about its possible ramifications.

Employee used crisp packet as 'Faraday cage' to hide his whereabouts during work
[YAHOO] A man in Australia was sacked after he relied on a 180-year-old scientific discovery to help prevent his colleagues discovering his whereabouts while he played golf during work hours.

Tom Colella, a 60-year-old electrician in Perth, lost his job after an anonymous letter to his firm claimed that he left work to play golf at least 140 times over the last two years.

Australia’s Fair Work Commission, a workplace tribunal, heard that Mr Colella blocked his whereabouts by storing his personal digital assistant, a phone-like device that has a GPS inside, in an empty foil packet of Twisties, a puffy cheese-based snack that is popular in Australia.

The tribunal found that the packet was deliberately used to operate as an elaborate "Faraday cage" - an enclosure which can block electromagnetic fields - and prevented his employer knowing his location. The cage set-up was named after English scientist Michael Faraday, who in 1836 observed that a continuous covering of conductive material could be used to block electromagnetic fields.

"I can find no plausible explanation why Mr Colella would create a Faraday cage around his PDA, except to obstruct the GPS collecting capacity of the device," said Bernie Riordan, a commissioner at the tribunal.

White House slams Dem ‘pettiness’ as Pelosi, Schumer pull out of meeting
[FOXNEWS] The White House on Tuesday shot back at the top congressional Democrats -- Sen. Chuck Schumer
Senator-for-life from New York, renowned for his love of standing in front of cameras. Schumer has been a professional politician since 1975, when disco was in flower. Senate minority leader as of 2017.
and Rep. Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace...
-- for pulling out of a White House meeting with President Trump, saying the president wants them to "put aside their pettiness" and "get to work."

Schumer, the Senate minority leader, and Pelosi, the House minority leader, cancelled their meeting with Trump and top congressional Republicans after the president hinted that any attempt to reach a bipartisan deal to avoid a government shutdown would be thwarted by Democrats’ desire to include immigration reform and tax increases.

"It’s disappointing that Senator Schumer and Leader Pelosi are refusing to come to the table and discuss urgent issues," said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. "The president’s invitation to the Democrat leaders still stands and he encourages them to put aside their pettiness, stop the political grandstanding, show up and get to work. These issues are too important."

#2  Still treating 'juvenile' crime as though it was the old days of joy driving and popping gum machines. Be adjudged by the act you commit not some adjectival descriptive of who you are.

One woman, who Mohammed raped in her own home before forcing her to withdraw money from an ATM, is 'terrified' at the thought her rapist will be free

The state will not give you justice. Don Vito Corleone to the courtesy phone.

Him and quite a few of his friends.

For far worse. After all what you condone - you get more of. But that is what the Democrats are aiming for isn't it?

#8  the life of other victim, once a promising college student, fell apart after the assault

So, what's she whining about? She hasn't even killed herself yet.

Arabia
Seven more people beheaded in Saudi Arabia, 137 total this year
[ALMASDARNEWS] Seven people were executed in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on Tuesday following their convictions on charges of murder, robbery and drug smuggling. The condemned included a gang of six Yemeni home invaders and one Saudi drug-runner.

The Yemenis were convicted of killing three people across multiple home invasions in ’Asir, a southern province of Saudi Arabia. They also stole cash and other valuables from the homes of their victims. All six men were executed in the city of Abha.

The Saudi convict had smuggled pills into the country and was executed in Tabuk.

One hundred thirty people have been executed in Saudi Arabia thus far in 2017, not quite breaking last year’s number of 154 executions. In the Kingdom, a litany of crimes can result in execution, including homosexuality, adultery, blasphemy, witchcraft and sexual misconduct. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the vast majority of executions are conducted for serious convictions of terrorism, drug-smuggling, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape and murder.
