#6 In my humble experience, Yakuza have a rather unique postion in Japanese society. They're a mafia, but Japanese police don't take them head-on unless the yakuza cause trouble. The Yakuza keep a low profile. The Japanese public, while knowing what they do and who they are, have a sort-of 'romantic' view of them.

So, yeah, this request is understandable.
