#1 Is this an incident staged by Gaddafi for whatever purpose, or is it a sign that the regime is disintegrating?
I'm that if it was staged, it went badly awry. There's no propaganda value in being so spectacularly thuggish in front of international cameras while you're trying to talk your way out of being bombed cross-eyed by the West and then fed to hungry Islamofascists and angry tribal bumpkins.
