#1 At some point I would not be shocked at all if a large group of cartel banditos decided to reenact Columbus, NM, figuring that it would throw the USG for a loop, who would then make a ham-handed response that would inject chaos into the area, taking the pressure off for a while.

Actually, that might work.

#2 Los Zetas are usually too busy transshipping drugs to the US and f*cking over other Mexicans to go after US citizens in Nuevo Laredo.

BTW, Nuevo Laredo is the only border crossing that Los Zetas control outright.

#5 Well, if the Zetas are stupid enough to cross the border in force into Texas and attack a border town, I am sure the local Texans, the Texas Rangers, and anybody in the area with a gun will be happy to oblige them with their 'raid'. However, it would more closely resemble Butch and Sundance going up against the Bolivian Army, than it would the New Mexico raid. From what I understand, the locals all along the Texas border have been gunning up since Zero took office, just in case.

#7 It's such a silly article. I live in Austin, and nobody here has been going to Laredo for the last 5-6 years because of the violence. Only idiots would venture across the border. It used to be the wimin folk would do there annual bus trip there. But thanks to the drug cartels, the tourism there to Nuevo Laredo has dropped to about 10% of what it used to be.

#8 The US must recognize that, as per ASYMMETRIC WARFARE + NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION, it most likely won't be only Radical Islam that may engage in so-called "NUCLEAR MILITANCY/TERRORISM", but a wide variety of NGO covert andor underworld Groups + Factions, to include "autonomous" + "non-aligned/independents".

* FYI DEFENCE.PK/FORUMS > AL-QAEDA THREATENING/ PLANNING[post-Osama = revenge] ATTACKS AGZ THE US ON 9-11 ANNIVERSARY [ + other key dates], as per analysis from captured Abbottabad docs.
