#1 If an armoured brigade does not have armour then why call it an armoured brigade? Air cavalry doesn't have horses, but they do at least serve the same tactical purpose.

Every democracy goes through this in peacetime. The cold war is over, so things will get cut to below the bare minimum. And then when things go hot, a lot of young men (and now women) will die because they lack equipment and training.
