#1 -- What a crock of BS.
-- I was intrigued when I learned that a Canadian manufacturer of a possible Ebola vaccine asked, back in March, about doing vaccine testing in the Hot Zone, and was turned down by whatever competent authority it was dealing with. Said competent authority responded by saying the outbreak would be over before anything much could be learned about the usefulness of the proposed vaccine. Now they're getting ready to test it. Six months wasted due to professional over-confidence.

#4 NIH’s overall budget grew modestly over the first half of the last decade -- from $28 billion in 2004 to about $30.5 billion in 2009. Then, it slipped down to about $29.3 billion in 2013.

The portion of that funding that goes toward the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which researches Ebola vaccines, followed a similar pattern -- from $4.3 billion in 2004, to $4.7 billion in 2009, and then back down to $4.3 billion in 2013.
These numbers do not take into account inflation, or rising costs and needs. The NIH budget grew nearly every year up until to 2009. (Between 1994 and 2004, there were some years the budget grew by almost $3 billion.)
Remind me again how long it's been that the Democrats have been in control. what is it, 8 1/2 years now? So funding grew under Bush, then started down during Obama's watch. Yup, it's the Republicans fault.

#5 Lookee who's been on the TV warpath a whole lot recently!

It's got nothing to do with her 2016 ambitions, does it?

#6 Elizabeth Warren neglected to thank Vice President Dick Cheney for appropriating funds, inatiating research and pushing through legislation that led to development of vaccines we use today to fight Ebola.

In FY 2000, the USG sponsored $840,000 in research to fight Ebola. By 2013 these supporting grants totaled $42.5M. That would be an increase of 4,959% over 13 years for an average increase of 135% or so per Fiscal Year. When the legislation authorizing this expanded effort was signed, then-President George W. Bush had the following to say.

"I want to thank the vice president for his hard work," Bush said during remarks in the Rose Garden. "He was the point man in the White House on this piece of legislation and did excellent work."

#7 Still pushing the story that was given 4 Pinocchios.

Tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.

Or the people stop believing you and throw your stupid ass out of office.

#8 So far the Donks have given us:

1. The Republicans are responsible for ebola? As you recall, Reagan was accused of promoting AIDS.

2. State Senator Vincent Shaheen, told cheering fans of his opponent, sitting Republican governor Nikki Haley, "We are going to escort whore out the door." That is a new low.

What else can be expected from blue state candidates? These two items seem like the most egregious in campaigns where there is much egregiousness.

#9 Republicans responsible for Ebola is all about making sure people don't mentally remember the Democrats blew this one. Similar to blaming Reagan in the 80s left a lot of people certain he was injecting Aids into gay folks in his spare time.

#11 Junkiron, thanks for that.

You know that this crowd can't hold a candle to what previous administrations have done. Remember GWB's remarkable efforts to battle AIDS in Africa? I wonder what the current administration has done in that regard.

As far as Warren goes, she just says whatever would get her current audience going. Neither facts nor consistency have anything to do with it. She's a cynical opportunist, in it for herself alone.

#12 TheAgendaProject started this meme on or before October 10 with this ad.

"Like rabid dogs in a butcher shop, Republicans have indiscriminately shredded everything in their path, including critical programs that could have dealt with the Ebola crisis before it reached our country."
