#1 Consider giving a little something to the Red Cross. Thanks.

#2 Better use of your money, give a little something to the Salvation Army. They will still be around long after the Red Cross leave. (Which is shortly after the press leave.)

Red Cross spends a lot of money on fancy office, special perks, such as chauffeured limos, office in prime NYC real estates... Basically, the Red Cross spend money like the UN does.

Salvation Army OTOH, make their money stretch and count!

#5 You can find the Cajun Navy on Facebook. Even though looters have shot at them and 20 more inches of rain is coming down they are still rescuing people. Instead of Harvey tracking North as it was forecasted to do before they left for Texas it is starting to dump lots of water in Louisiana so some of these guys may loose everything back home while in Houston.

#6 Let me qualify. The immediate threat is exposure; people need to get out of the water. Next is going to be dehydration. A bass boat may not be able to rescue many at a time, but it can carry potable water and space blankets to a number of people until a rescue boat can make the trip. Cajun Navy is doing this from as far away as Florida. Petition local governments to give the convoys a priority, give them space.

#7 The Ag Community has been on this for a couple days now. To help directly, contact your local 4-H or FFA and ask them if there is a convoy being organized. Ask what they need. A nice, compact, affordable item is an emergency blanket. What I have here at the store is about the size of a wallet and retails for $2.99, so even a modest amount of money can get a number of these, they can be stuffed into nooks and crannies, and will make a world of difference.
